Chapter 1: Little King
Chapter Text
25th June 1979
The sound of waves crashing through the cliff side was loud, it felt like it was expecting him. Regulus Arcturus Black was a surprise, was not planned, and certainly was not expected, Regulus was born second choice.
He was always second to his brother, Sirius Black, the brightest, the bravest, the heir, the first born, the first choice.
How can he compete with the brightest star that the world has ever seen? Regulus was jealous. But now, at this moment Regulus wants to be brave, to shine bright, and to finally have a choice in his life.
“Show me the entrance, Kreacher”
Regulus falls as the tapestry woven the year next to his birth, marking the end of his life.
Oh little king, did you notice the chaos you brought to the havens as they watched the tapestry finalized your life?
Oh little king, don't you know that you are the ‘greatest’ the ‘mightiest’ the ‘strongest’?
My little King, there is a reason you are called ‘King’ from the leader of the leader of the stars, as you were born to the most loyal one.
My little King, how could you leave us without any comfort of your shield?
My King, we will not let your story ends here
My King, you will not fall, trust me your highness, as we will never let you fall again.
in the cold, dark, cursed cave a hells fire burned through the corpes of the lake. a fiendfire in the shape of a basilsk burned the corpes in comand of the king. the brightest star burned the greatest.
Regulus Burned.
Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Woven threads that ends a journey
Chapter Text
Walburga Irma Black, the mother of two. That's a fact nobody could change the fact no matter how Walburga tries to think that she’s a mother to one, not when she remembers the pain she is willing to take to give birth to a child she’s been expecting the past 3 years into her marriage with Orion.
No matter how everyone sees it Walburga is still a mother, a mother who has FAIL, a mother who has lost a son she fought life and death for, a mother who is in denial as she sees the tapestry woven a year next to her youngest birth year. Her heart stopped as she saw the tapestry woven the numbers of the year, no no No No NO NO NO
This can’t be happening, no, not her son,
her only son,
can’t be gone, her little lion can’t be gone, he should’ve been in hogwarts writing his speech for the graduation as the brightest wizard of the year, he should’ve been at Hogwarts spending his last days with his friend before working or going into masters, she had been proud to see her son gets many recommendation letters to well-known wizard and witches to take him as an apprentice, he should’ve, he should’ve been
Maybe she should’ve seen this coming after two weeks of no letters from him, Walburga had this image that he was having fun and vacationing after NEWTS, maybe she should’ve known by the growing attacks at those mud- muggle-borns that the impact could’ve touch her son, as she saw another willingly fought for it, maybe she should’ve known when Bellatrix had been acting strange and took her son to a ‘vacation’ on that fateful night in winter 2 years prior, she should’ve known that the most gentle child she ever saw was never going to change and follow a madman who killed his own subordinates when things gone wrong, she should’ve known cause SHE. IS. HIS. MOTHER.
She already lost one. Why would she have to lose another?
On 25th June 1979, 11:35 P. M. nyx the family owl returns to the house, not with a letter from her son but a returned gift she left for her son, as she sends out his birthday presents this morning. Looking at the untouched present made her feel mad, confused, and sad, on why would Regulus returned the gift without even seeing it, it wasn't like him she quickly storms out of the dining room to search for her husband, to rant and whine about the actions of their son, she looked everywhere in the first floor and came to the drawing room as the last room in the level, and right there she saw the tapestry shone in golden light, she knows what it means, it means there is either someone dead or the family would have a new member joining soon. But the latter was not possible as there was no notification known to her that someone was expecting to deliver a miracle at this time of year as Narcissa is in her second trimester. It was implausible.
A dreadful presage she feels as she makes a connection to the glowing threads of gold in the tapestry, as she feels her heart drop as she sees the golden light on the side of her family, mostly her son. Her first thought was ‘Did something happen to Sirius?’ Even though she made an impulse decision to burn him from the tapestry at home when he ran away doesn’t mean that he was kicked out of the family, as only the head of the house could do that.
She knows Sirius, and as much as she denies it she knows Sirius because he is exactly like her younger self, the rebel streak he has, the wanting of independents, the wanting to thrive in freedom from society, and the burden of being a pureblood. She also knows that Sirius has been training as an auror for one and a half years, and with the start of the war, she prepared the worst as she walked inside the drawing room towards the tapestry.
Her heart stopped, it felt like a knife had stabbed her right in the heart. She wasn’t ready for this, no mother would, the light doesn’t shine through Sirius but the person next to him, his younger brother, her youngest son, Regulus. 1979, there right there was the year written next to 1961 his birth year, Walburga felt her knees weakening as she fell into the ground.
Her son, her baby boy, her sweet sweet child, gone.
Eighteen
Realization hits her harder than anything. Regulus, her youngest son, had only turned eighteen today and he died with no one to tell her the news and nobody was delivered to her. Walburga is confused. Where is he? How did he die? Who did this? And why did nobody notice her son's disappearance?
That realization made her eyes shed more tears on her stone-cold face, the only last thing she remembers is the voice of Orion searching for her as she can only be focused on one hurtful fact she came across.
Her son is dead.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Orion was not having a good day, the effect of the so-called ‘death eaters’ attack both on the muggle world and the wizarding world made the ministry’s work become overloaded and the wizengamot meeting today had become a headache. So when he heard his wife's voice searching for him he ignored her. He needed some peace and so he was thankful when she stopped searching for him.
Walburga’s mental health had gone down since Sirius left, the only thing that stuck her together was the fact that he was alive, happy, healthy, and most importantly is still a Black that her act of burning his photo off of their tapestry doesn't really mean that he was fully disowned. And let’s not forget about Regulus, after Sirius’s act spending time with Regulus really helped her out.
Speaking of Regulus, today is his birthday, isn’t it? Walburga probably already gave the gift they picked for him this morning, he probably should write to him later, knowing that he was in the process of graduating.
Orion’s headache seemed to be healed already, that was until he heard of Walburga’s wailing that made him jump to a defensive stand, Walburga is loud but she will never wail like this.
Orion followed her voice and saw that his wife was looking blankly at the tapestry in front of her,he saw her silent cries as tears wouldn't stop pouring.
"Walburga?" He tries to call her but his wife won't budge, "what is it? who died, love?" He asks, Walburga never cried nor looked this defeated over someone's death, even her mother's, but considering she was staring at the tapestry he assumed.
Was it Sirius's? He thought Sirius is an auror and on top of that he and his friends joined Dumbeldores little club so there is a big possibility that he was killed in action, the thought makes his heart beat faster.
"Walburga what happened?" He asked again, it seems this time she heard him she points her hands to their part of the family in the tapestry, his heart ache at the thought of Sirius dying until her hand lay onto Regulus's.
He felt his heart dropped and breath stopped, Regulus? It doesn't make sense what happened to Regulus, what is Walburga seeing, that was until she took her hand and showed him the dates next to his birth.
Orion Arcturus Black never knew what heartbreak felt like, and now he knows how hurtful it is that his son is dead.
Regulus Arcturus Black is dead
