Chapter Text
Wèi Wúxiàn had a rough start in life. Losing his parents at such a young age was a tragedy, but it was only the beginning of his struggles. He was forced to live on the streets, fighting for survival day in and day out. During this time, he was attacked by a pack of wild dogs, which left him with a deep-seated fear of them that he never managed to overcome.
At the age of nine, his life took a turn for the better when he was taken in by his parents' friend, Jiāng Fēngmián. He was brought to Yúnmèng Jiāng Sect, where he gained a Senior martial sister, Jiang Yanli, and a Junior martial brother, Jiang Cheng. For the first time in his life, he had a family, and it gave him a sense of belonging he had never experienced before.
Unfortunately, the happiness was short-lived. The two brothers were subjected to abuse by their parents, and it brought them closer together. They relied on each other for support and comfort in the face of the violence they suffered. The three siblings shared a bond that was unbreakable.
But when war came, everything changed. The family was killed, leaving the siblings as the only survivors. Misunderstandings and hurt feelings led to a rift between the brothers, and they grew apart as time went on.
Years later, they met again, but the bond they once shared was no longer there. They forgave each other for the past, but things could never be the same again. They went their separate ways, and Wèi Wúxiàn continued his journey alone, haunted by the memories of what could have been. Despite the pain, he knew that the family he once had would always hold a special place in his heart.

Jiāng Chéng was born into a life of privilege, as the male heir of the Yúnmèng Jiāng Sect. However, the responsibilities that came with it were often overwhelming for the young boy. To make things worse, his parents never showed him any love. His mother, Yu Ziyuan, was mentally and physically abusive, while his father, Jiang Fengmian, ignored him.
At the age of five, Jiāng Chéng could count on one hand how many times his father held him. His only solace was his big sister, Jiang Yanli, and his three dogs, Jasmine, Princess, and Love. But even that was short-lived when the dogs were given away without hesitation by his father, all because of the arrival of his newly found brother, Wèi Wúxiàn.
At first, Jiāng Chéng hated Wèi Wúxiàn. He saw him as a threat to his already limited source of love and affection. However, Wèi Wúxiàn's pure heart quickly won him over, and the two brothers became very close. Their older sister, Jiang Yanli, became their mother figure, and they relied on each other for support and comfort.
But the arrival of Wèi Wúxiàn also made the abuse that Jiāng Chéng was already experiencing worse. Yu Ziyuan often compared him to his brother and continuously belittled him about how his cultivation was inferior to Wèi Wúxiàn's. Jiāng Chéng developed a deep inferiority complex about his father's favoritism towards Wèi Wúxiàn. Despite the abuse, the two brothers grew even closer.
Then war came, and the family was killed, leaving the siblings as the only survivors. But because of misunderstandings and hurt feelings, they grew apart as time went on. When they met years later, they forgave each other, but the bond that once was close could never be the same. They went their separate ways, and Jiāng Chéng continued to carry the pain of his childhood, haunted by the memories of the family he once had. Despite it all, he knew that the love he had for his siblings would never die.
