Sam's Tip of the Month: Holy Water Super Soakers
Demons have been a regular pain in my side since I was born and haphazardly tossing holy water hasn't always proved effective. One of the most innovative ways I've seen to accurately holy water a demon came from a prophet named Kevin Tran. Loading holy water into a water gun allows you to accurately aim and stall a demon. Kevin is no longer with us, but he irrevocably changed hunting for the better.

March's Strangest Hunt
The newspaper reported a string of infants disappearing from locked rooms. The police suspected parents wanting to cover up SIDS or neglect. The internet suspected a serial killer. Six babies had been taken within four months of each other, all taken before they turned a month old. By the time I rolled into town, the CDC was already there, testing for a bacteria or virus or something. Thankfully, I have some remaining cred from my days as a supernatural conspiracist and some of the families agreed to talk to me.
All of them described the same young child approaching them a few months before their infant was conceived. So I’m thinking: crossroads demon. But, nope, no kissing of the child (thank god). After a long slog of reading through police records and interviewing families, I finally get my break. One of the parents accidentally knocked over a salt shaker while the child was in their home and the kid counted every single grain before leaving. So a quick text to the LoreLine and we confirm that it’s a faerie. Which I didn’t even think were real, by the way.
Checking birth records revealed who might be next, so I set a trap for the faerie who shows that night. They chug down the cream I set out and then start drunkenly counting the entire bag of sugar I spill in front of them. So the interrogation is going well. The faerie, Fern, tells me that they’re doing this not on their own volition, but by orders of Oberon, their King. Fern agrees to teleport me to the Faerie Realm to stop Oberon, but warns that he’s unkillable.
Now, if I’ve learned anything as a hunter, it’s that nothing’s unkillable, not even God. So I figure that some combination of iron and silver will do the trick. If that fails, I can always find a woodchipper.
We travel to the Faerie Realm and have a rather epic time traveling to Oberon’s Kingdom. We break into the courtyard where the King is overseeing a Tribunal and I start shooting silver bullets. Now, it should be known that I’m a terrible shot. But this place is so infused with magic that wishing seems to have made some serious impact. Head shot, king’s dead on arrival. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one gunning to topple the throne, or wishing it to happen, because as the news spread, more and more revolutionaries came forward to help further dismantle his dictatorship.
And that’s how I killed the King of Faeries and accidentally started a democratic revolution in the Faerie Realm.

Dean's Recipe of the Month: Dollar Store Chili
Life on the road means eating a lot of cheap, crap food. Everything in this recipe can be bought at any dollar store and can be cooked at most motels. Serves 6.
Ingredients:
- 4 cans of beans (I recommend black beans, red beans, dark kidney beans, and light kidney beans, but use what you like/have)
- 2 cans of diced tomatoes
- ½ a bottle (~ 10 oz) of ketchup
- 6-7 very large spoonfuls (~1 cup) of brown sugar
- ½ a container (~1.5 oz) of chili powder (OR ¼ a container of garlic powder and ¼ a container of onion powder)
- [Non-dollar store addition]: 1-2 fresh onions, diced
Cooking Implements:
- Microwaveable bowl
- Can opener
- Large dish to mix ingredients
- Mixing utensil
- [For onions] knife & cutting board
Instructions:
- Strain all the canned ingredients
- One at a time, microwave for 2 minutes the cans of beans with 1/8th of the ketchup bottle each
- Combine all bean+ketchup mixes plus the diced tomatoes, brown sugar, and chili powder (OR garlic/onion powder) (and onions) until all seasoning is mixed in
Notes:
- Keeps in fridge for several days, does not travel well
- If you have access to any kind of stove, dumping all ingredients into a large pot and cooking it for ~30 minutes on medium heat also works well
- Cooking the onions is better than eating them raw, but tastes fine either way
