Baja Blasted (Out of this World)

Summary:

Something was wrong. Really, really wrong.

Leo and Mikey opened the portal, the swirling blue and orange doing little to comfort them.

“I don’t think this is home.” Mikey noted. Leo’s face hardened. “Maybe we shouldn’t go in—“

But before Leo could get another word out, a large, violent vibration sent them both tumbling in.

—Or—

Leo and Mikey accidentally portal themselves into the 2012 universe, where they’re met with four older, weirder looking versions of themselves, Raph, and Donnie. Will they find a way home? Because these older versions seem to be way too concerned about how they live to let them leave.

Sure, Mikey’s arms almost ripped apart. Sure, Leo participated in a full on suicide mission.

That’s not BAD, right?

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

"Raph!" Donnie shouted, ducking his head under a slab of debris. "Try and clear the way! Leo, Mikey, do you copy?!" Mikey huffed, wrapping his kusarifundo around a ledge and pulling himself up, just in time for the villain they were fighting to come crashing through the wreckage.

Raph summoned his projection, slamming his fists through the rubble to try and clear a safe pathway.

"Agh, shit!" Mikey exclaimed, dodging one of the villain's attacks. What this random villain was doing in New York, Mikey wasn't sure. All he knew is that they weren't supposed to be there, and should probably go back to whatever hellscape they came from. "Yeah, Don. I copy. Do you have any idea aaGH! " The chain wrapped around the ledge slipped, and sent Mikey careening off the side of a building.

"Coming through!" Leo called, catching Mikey before his shell could hit the ground. "You totally owe me for that one later." Mikey rolled his eyes playfully. "Sure, whatever."

"Uh, guys?! Now's not the time to be calling favors! Look out!" Donnie's voice crackled through the comms a second too late. Leo and Mikey looked up, only to be greeted by a big lump of falling debris.

Leo yelped, shoving himself and Mikey out of the way. They rolled into a tight gap in the wreckage, and the hole above them shut tight.

"...Well fuck." deadpanned Leo, rubbing the back of his head. He definitely felt some kind of bruise forming. He'd have to look into that when they got home. " Miguel? You okay, little bro?"

Mikey let out a groan from underneath him. "I would be if you would stop sitting on me!" Leo couldn't help the light snort that escaped his beak. "Sorry, Mike."

"Yeah, yeah. Donnie?" Mikey tapped on the walkie-talkie. It let out a low whirr of static. "Busted." He sighed. "What about yours?"

Leo hummed, tapping on his respective device. As expected, the device sputtered, and burned out. They both exhaled tiredly. Leo was scanning the wreckage for his phone, when he felt a weight on his shoulder. Mikey was leaned into him, exhausted. He huffed out a small laugh, rubbing his little brother's head affectionately.

Leo reached behind Mikey and snagged one of his swords. He could try and portal them both home for now, and then touch base with Donnie and Raph later.

“Alright, mystic warrior,” He grunted, pulling Mikey onto his back. “Let’s get you home.” Leo glanced down at Mikey’s bandaged arms. They were glowing faintly. Not good, he noted. Leo would check him over at home.

Leo focused his energy into his sword. Portalling had become easier over the past few months, especially after he’d seriously trained his ninpō following K-Day.

Yeesh, touchy subject, Leo. Back it off.

Leo carefully began to open the portal, he remembered leaving his other sword somewhere. Maybe in the wreckage. It would have to wait until later. Mikey needed a leader, after all.

Although, Leo felt something within him snap. Something was wrong with the portal. He felt an air of wrong surround him. Mikey felt it too, he figured, for the kid blearily opened his eyes.

“Leo?” He murmured. Leo huffed. “Good morning, Princess. Wanna help your dear old brother open this portal home?”

Mikey mumbled. “I dunno if my mystic powers are cooperating right now. Let’s try it.”

Leo pretended that it didn’t bother him. “The worst thing that could happen is us ending up in— eugh, New Jersey. ” Mikey snorted. “Yeah, let’s just do it. ‘m getting dizzy.”

He put a firm hand on Leo’s shoulder and focused.

Portal home, portal home, portal home..

“I don’t think this is home.” Mikey noted. Leo’s face hardened. “Maybe we shouldn’t go in—“
