Chapter 1: Cygnus A. Malfoy
Chapter Text
Harry looked into silver-like eyes. He needed this man's help. Hopefully he could uptain it. He watched as the man and Professor Snape talked quietly between themselves. His Professor looking more confused while the Malfoy Lord was showing no emotion as he answered the dark haired man's questions.
It felt like hours before they took the silencing spell down and sat on the couch on the other side of the coffee table. He watched as his Professor sat straight and with his arms crossed against his chest. Lord Malfoy, however, sat like a proper noble of some sort. Although, Harry could tell he was the wizarding equivalent in a way. Not that he cared.
"You have asked for my assistance." Lord Malfoy stated in a silver tone. "I must ask, why do you need my assistance?"
"I was raised with muggles. Not the good kind. I don't think badly of all muggles, but these were my last living relatives apparently." Harry started looking at his hands. "They hated all that was to do with magic. The word was banned from the home. Even Dudley got in slight trouble for using it once. I need to get away from there." He looks up at the two men with tears filling his killing curse green eyes. "Until my first Hogwarts letter I slept under the stairs. I was starved, beaten, and treated worse than a house elf. I need out. Please. If you truly care for Hogwarts and her students, this one needs your help."
Severus Tobias Snape-Prince was rarely surprised anymore. Life became bland after Lily got with Potter. He found happiness for a small time. One he remembers fondly. The first time he held his Godson, Draco. He loves that child with everything in him. He felt the bonds everyday. Reminding him why he still kept going.
Yet, as he listened to the child of Lily Potter née Evans, he was surprised. Not at the treatment of the child. If Severus guessed right, Potter was left with Petunia. Lily had no other family after Rose and Steven passed away.
No, he was surprised at his own actions. He let his hatred of James Potter transfer to the son. Something he should have never done. If he hadn't, he would have likely spotted the signs of abuse.
He would do what he could to help Harry Potter. No matter what Lucius chose to do.
Lucius Abraxas Malfoy felt anger, sympathy, and sadness rage through his body as he listened to the child's admission. He wanted to go torture the muggles or even give them as a gift to his Sister-in-law. How dare they harm a magical child! He felt sympathy for the child. He saw the abuse his friend, and practically brother, Severus went through. He would never wish that upon a child. He felt sadness as he watched the child beg and plead for him to help him. The child could tell Lucius was a Death Eater. Yet, he obviously needed desperate help.
Lucius held up a gloved hand causing the child to pause. Standing up slowly he went over, sat next to him, and hugged Harry Potter.
"I shall adopt you as my own. Never again will you come to harm my son."
Harry stiffened against the hug for a moment before melting into it. He didn't truly believe the man's words. He almost fully gave up on getting free from the Dursleys before he was of age. He chose to take a chance, however. He learned of the influence Malfoy had in the Ministry. If this didn't work, Harry was sure he would finish Voldemorts job for him.
Lucius held the 12-year-old tightly in his arms. He wanted to cry. Looking into onyx eyes he knew Severus was the same. He pulled away from the child and made eye contact with him.
"Will you be okay with a blood adoption?" Lucius asks softly.
"W-what's that?.." Harry questions.
"It will be a ritual, and potion, done within Gringotts between you, me, and my wife, Narcissa, making us your blood parents. Depending on the particular potion it may completely take away Lily and James as your parents. If you don't wish for that do let me know, I can request the other."
Harry decided that for once in his life he would be selfish. He would make his life better. He would use his Slytherin side. No more Gryffindor.
So, with that determination set, he looked back to Lucius Malfoy. He smiled softly.
"I would like to be a blood Malfoy." He says clearly. "I want to be your son blood and all."
Lucius smiled softly and nodded. "How do you feel about the name Cygnus? Cygnus Abraxas Malfoy?" Even as he said this the child couldn't help but see something in his eyes he couldn't quite place.
"I like it!"
"Cygnus was your Mum's Father. Abraxas was mine." Lucius informed him making sure to say "mum" letting him know he was family already.
"What um, what do I call you?.." now, Cygnus asks quietly, his eyes showing the fear he felt.
"Father in public. Dad or Papa around family and friends. You will call your Mum, Mother in public but Mum around family and friends."
"Lucius." Severus says causing both Malfoy's to look over. "May I offer to also be Cygnus's Godfather?"
Cygnus looked up at his potion's Professor in shock. Tilting his head slightly he shyly asked. "Don't you hate me, Professor?"
It was a punch to the gut for Severus. He sighed and walked over to the young child, kneeling in front of him. Onyx eyes met emerald green. Lily's eyes.
"I should have never treated you the way I did. You are a brilliant child with Lily's brains and passion for potions and Potter's brains for transfiguration according to professor McGonagall. As long as your Dad is alright with it, I would be honored to be your godfather."
Cygnus looked to his Dad who simply nodded with a soft smile. Leaving it to him. Looking to the onyx eyes man he wondered if he could forgive him enough to let him be his godfather. He then knew the answer.
"Yes. I would like you to be my Godfather. But, may I ask, why you were so mean?"
Severus smiled tightly. "James Potter bullied me quite a bit. Unfortunately I took my anger out on you thinking you would be just like him. Instead I forgot that you were also my sister-in-all-but-blood's son as well."
Cygnus nodded in understanding. "Can...can we tell Draco?..." he asks looking to his Dad.
Draco Lucius Malfoy always wanted a little brother. One to protect and care for. Ever since his best friend Blaise gained a baby sister at age 3, he wanted one. Yet, his parents struggled to have him. So over the years he hoped but never much. So as he took in the information he simply smiled.
"I'll protect you like I would a little brother!" Draco exclaimed hugging his new brother. "You can call me Dray, ok?" Before Cygnus could respond his brother looked to their Godfather. "Since it's the night before we go home can Brax and I sleep over in my spare room Uncle Sev?!"
Both men chuckled lightly as Draco excitedly took his new brother to the spare room. A few moments went by afterwards before Lucius sighed.
"I hope I can still be a good father."
"You are already, Lucius." Assured his friend putting a hand on his shoulder. "You better get home to tell Narcissa the news. She will-"
"P-papa?.."
Lucius looked at his now, youngest, son. The boys eyes were glossy with tears and filled with worry. He knelt down and hugged him before keeping his hands upon his shoulders.
"What is wrong sweet one?"
"W-will you you and Mum love me still if I like wearing girly things..."
With the confirmation of yes, Lucius got both boys put to bed. His sweet dragon and baby swan. His baby boys.
He gained a son. Cygnus. Abraxas. Malfoy. The new Malfoy.

Cygnus smiled softly as his Mum fretted over him before they left for Platform 9 and 3/4. She checked his dress; his hair, which was braided; his trunk, and made sure he felt alright. All of which passed her test. Well, after Lucius calmed her.
"It's okay, Papa. It is my first time away at school since I came home." Cygnus says softly. "I have a feeling all will be well, however."
"I know, son," Lucius replies, kissing his son's forehead. "We must get going, however. Grab your trunks."
The boys were both dressed well. Although nothing less would be expected of the Malfoy twins.
Draco was wearing a black muggle pair of pants, a black turtleneck shirt, and a black blazer on top. His blonde hair was combed back but no longer gelled to the extreme.
Cygnus wore a black long-sleeved A-lined dress that went to his calves. His blonde hair was put into a fishtail braid and went down to his mid-back.
As the boys boarded the train, they were stopped by Ron and Hermione. The two former friends of Cygnus Malfoy looked pissed off. Their wands pointed at their faces were a good clue.
"Malfoy." Stated Ron with a sneer. "And the new Malfoy. What a pleasant surprise. I thought I would have to wait."
Cygnus felt himself move closer to Draco at the crazed look in Weasley's eyes. He couldn't believe he used to be friends with them. The way they apparently treated everyone, especially his new family and friends.
"RON!" Cried out the new head boy, Percy Weasley, as he moved between the group. "Go. Now. I want you with the prefects. Tell them I sent you both." He then turned to the Malfoy twins with a soft smile at Cygnus. "I'm happy for you, Malfoy. The twins are too. Let us know if you need anything. You're still our little brother."
Cygnus hugged Percy tightly. He needed those words. The Weasleys meant the world to him. To know that at least Percy and the twins still loved him. To know they had his back... It meant the world to him.
"Now, I have two third years to deal with. You both," he glances at Draco. "Take care. And remember, we will always be family. Even if you are a Malfoy now."
"Thank you, Percy." Cygnus whispers.
Upon arriving at their compartment, which already held Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Gregory Goyle, Vincent Crabbe, and Daphne Greengrass.
Pansy, a girl with pitch-black hair that went just past her shoulders and tanned skin, quickly rose from her seat and hugged the twins.
"Are you ok? I overheard Weasley and Granger say something about almost getting you two!"
Cygnus hugged the girl, that was like a sister to him, tightly. "We are okay, Pans. Safe and sound. Percy Weasley helped us. He and the twins are on my side!"
"Good. We knew you were worried about losing them the most." Commented Blaise Zabini, Cygnus's future mate.
It was found out through the inheritance and birth certificate test. Both were requirements for Blood Adoption. Both reveal information none of the Malfoy were ready for.
Harry, soon-to-be Cygnus, watched as both Lucius and Narcissa gained tears in their eyes. They had just finished reading the birth certificate. He was told it would hold his name, date of birth, mother's name, father's name, any possible siblings, all four grandparents and immediate aunts and uncles, with his Godparent and god siblings.
He was slowly handed the papers:

Cygnus now understood the look in his Father's eyes back then. He was a child presumed to be dead. His eyes watered as he hugged his parents close. He wasn't an orphan! He didn't have to be adopted! He was a true Malfoy!
Cygnus smiled softly as he sat in Blaise's lap. The two had grown close over the summer. Well, the entire group grew closer. It was as if Cygnus was the missing piece of their friend group. It was well known Blaise was the Dad of the group, but Cygnus was definitely the Mum.
When they arrived at Hogwarts, Cygnus was ushered to the first years as he would be sorted directly after them. One of them was Astoria Greengrass, Daphne's little sister.
"We have a new student who will join our third year," began Headmaster Dumbledore. "Welcome, Cygnus Malfoy."
As it had with his brother, the hat barely touched his head before yelling out Slytherin for the world to hear. Smiling widely, he quickly made his way to his brother. Draco gave his brother a small hug and sat him in between him and Blaise.
"Uncle Sev!" cried Cygnus hugging his Godfather. "Percy helped us! I didn't lose him or the twins!"
"That is good, Cygnus. I am happy for you." smiled his Uncle softly.
They had gathered in Severus's quarters after introducing the first years, and Cygnus was happily telling his Godfather all about the train ride. The man, however, was also thinking of a letter he needed to write. He knew Remus Lupin would recognize the scent of his cub. That could cause problems later on.
"Lucius! Their letter's arrived!" Exclaimed Narcissa happily as she walked into her husband and mate's office. "Shall we read Cygnus's first?"
"I suppose. I can tell the anticipation is killing you, Love."
Lucius Malfoy did not squeal as he was hit with a stinging hex. He did not.
Dear Mum and Papa,
I got into Slytherin! I share a room with Dray and Blaise. I had a few friends come tell me they still support and care for me. The main ones, however, were the Weasley Twins, Percy Weasley and Neville Longbottom.
Weasley and Granger tried attacking me on the train but Percy handled it. He made sure they'll stay away from me.
Professor McGonagall also showed her support by taking points and giving them a months detention. I believe Granger thought she was brutally murdered the way she cried. She does have odd priorities.
Well, I am really tired so I am going to head to bed. Please keep Hedwig for a bit, I think she has been really tired lately.
Love,
Your Son,
Cygnus A. Malfoy
Remus John Lupin couldn't quite believe his wolf for the first time. He believed him with Sirius being his mate. He believed him when calling Prongs, Padfoot, Lily, and Harry his pack. He even believed him upon calling Harry his pseudo cub. Yet he could not believe that Harry was this Cygnus Malfoy kid. However, his nose could never lie.

Remus Lupin learns
Chapter Text
Remus sighed as he read the letter. His eyes switched from green to amber as his wolf struggled with the information. His cub was not the person he thought he was, but Moony still insisted that was their cub.
"Lucius and Narcissa are willing to allow you in his life," Severus says, walking in, ignoring the need to knock. "Under some conditions."
"Severus. There is such a thing as knocking, you know." Remus says, a weak smile on his face. "Tell me about him?"
"He's kind, almost Hufflepuff kind." Severus begins softly. "He loves the color green. His future mate is Blaise Zabini, a were-coyote to be. He loves autumn, it's his favorite time of year. Although he does say, it has a lot to do with the muggle traditions around Halloween. He loves his owl, Hedwig, who is his familiar. She's a sassy bird and reminds me of Lily."
"Of course, he would have a bird familiar with Lily's attitude." Remus chuckles. "School?"
"Before we discovered his true heritage, he was in Gryffindor but is a Slytherin through and through. He has a lot of ambitions for someone his age." Severus sighs. "He wants to meet you but with myself, Narcissa, and Lucius present. He's traumatized and will be anxious around you."
"Traumatized," Remus states lowly, a growl emitting from his throat.
"He was left with Petunia and her husband, Vernon," Severus states carefully. "They didn't like having one of our kind in their home."
It took Remus a moment or three before realization dawned on his face. His green eyes look at onyx widely. Understanding beginning to show on his face.
"He went to Lord Malfoy for help."
Severus nods slightly. "He was at his end. I fear what would have happened should Lucius not have agreed to help."
"You think he would have?.."
The question wasn't finished, but the wording was quite clear. Did Severus Snape think Cygnus Malfoy would have killed himself that summer? His somber silence answered it completely.
However, moments later, a knock interrupted the two men. Opening the door quickly was a panicked Draco Malfoy, who let out an almost sob of relief at the sight of his Godfather.
"Headmaster Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall have Cygnus alone! You need to hurry, Uncle Sev!"
"Sir, I request my head of house, please." Cygnus Malfoy stated, however, he took notice of Professor McGonagall.
"Professor McGonagall is right here, my Boy," Albus says, his grandfather-like voice tight.
"But I am a Slytherin, Headmaster. So Professor Snape should be here. If not him, then my parents. I know my Mother is always available."
"Mr.Malfoy is right, Albus. I am no longer his Head of House." The elder witch smiled softly at him. "However, you are always welcome to come to speak to me should you need it. I am glad you found your way home, Mr.Malfoy."
"I told you Professor McGonagall wouldn't try and force anything," Severus says as he walks in.
"Uncle Sev!" Cygnus cries out, jumping into the man's arms. "He wouldn't let me go! See!"
Severus, and Minerva, both glared at Albus upon seeing the third-year's arm. It held a handprint that began to bruise. Severus, with his eyes never leaving Albus and his wand held firmly in hand as he held his Godson close, almost ordered Minerva McGonagall to call Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy.
Upon arriving, their first priority showed to be their son. Narcissa knelt in front of him, checking him over for anything but his arm. Lucius doing the same from behind. Once checked, they both turned their attention to Albus. However, Lucius turned to his old friend momentarily.
"Take Cygnus and Draco to pack. I am transferring them to Durmstrang immediately. I am also aware most purebloods in their year will be as well. Once the boys are done, take them to the Manor. Amelia Bones is waiting to take Cygnus's statement. Love," he turns to his wife. "Why don't you go with the boys."
"Scared for your wife, Malfoy?"
"Scared for you more like! Mother is a proud Daughter of the House of Black! You ought to be ashamed!" Cygnus said firmly.
"Cygnus." stated his Father sternly. "Go with your Godfather and Mother, now."
"Sorry, Father."
Lucius wished to tell his son he was proud of the small outburst. That he was only worried about the old man's reaction. Instead, he simply watched the old coot as his family left.
"You will be destroyed. I refuse to let a monster like yourself continue as a headmaster." sneered Lucius. "I will be talking to Lord Weasley as well."
"L-Lord?" Albus stutters. Did the Weasleys regain their Lordship? What of the feud?
"Ah yes, a Lord William Weasley. A good friend of my son. He came to me asking for help re-gaining his family's Lordship. I helped, of course." Lucius smirked. "He now can take control of his brother's and sister's education. Something I believe will now happen."
Not giving Albus the chance to respond, Lucius turned and walked out calmly before jogging to Severus's quarters. He wanted to hug both his sons. Wanting to let his youngest know he was so proud of him.
Upon arriving home, Cygnus noted Lady Amelia Bones immediately. She sat in one of the chairs reserved for guests from the ministry. He instinctively hugged his brother. She intimidated him in ways that no other had. And if he was honest, he was feeling timid right now. He just wanted his brother.
"Heir Malfoy, Heir Black." Lady Bones said, using the boy's proper titles as per the rules of society.
"Lady Bones." They replied. Although Cygnus spoke softer than his brother.
"Lady Malfoy."
"Lady Bones."
Narcissa Malfoy pulled her sons close to her as the woman walked before Cygnus. Amelia kneeled down to better match his height with a kind smile. She understood he likely felt scared and wary of her. Especially since she was one of the few adults outside of family and school that he had come across. She was hoping to make herself as less threatening as possible.
"Can you tell me about the attack Dumbledore made on you?" She asked, not realizing how deep this actually went.
Chapter 4: Talks and Transfers
Summary:
Important talks are made and transfers are finalized
Chapter Text
Amelia Bones had three distinct jobs.
First was being an Aunt to a wonderful and brilliant girl. Since her brother and sister-in-law died, she was given custody of her niece, Susan.
The second was being the Lady regent for the Bones family. She wasn't Lady Bones, as that title would one day belong to Susan.
The third was being an Auror. To protect, serve, and help the wizarding citizens of Britain.
Yet she never expected to have to protect the children of Hogwarts from their Headmaster. She listened to young Cygnus Malfoy, the Heir to the House of Black, as his older twin brother held him close. Their Mother, Lady Narcissa Malfoy, stood behind the boys' chair. Her eyes were trained on Amelia's hands. Particularly her wand hand.
"Thank you for this, Heir Black. I will take care of this immediately." She stated softly as she stood slowly. "Anything else, Lady Malfoy?"
"No. However, my husband will possibly write you if anything comes up. The only thing I request is a trial for my family that is currently in Azkaban." Narcissa stated calmly. "As you might not have known, as I believe you were still in training, my sister, brother-in-law, his brother, their friend who is now deceased, and cousin never received trials."
"I will certainly look into it. May I bring in other Aurors?"
"Kingsley Shacklebolt and John Dawlish."
As soon as the woman left, Cygnus looked at his Mum with sad eyes. He worried she and his Papa would be disappointed with him because of his outburst. A small part of him still feared that they would give him up. That they would hate him. Oh, merlin, what if they were angry? He had so many what if's running through his head he didn't hear his Papa coming through the foo.
"Cygnus, son?"
Cygnus focused in on his Papa kneeling before him with worried silver-blue eyes. His hands held his shoulders gently.
"Cygnus, what's wrong?"
"Please don't give me away! I'm sorry for speaking without permission!"
Lucius pulled his son into a hug immediately. He looked to his wife, who nodded before leading their other son out of the room. He forgot how sensitive his younger son was currently. It hurt to hear and see, but he reassured him as often as it took.
"Cygnus, that isn't why I got on to you. I got on to you because Dumbledore is a dangerous man. He could have hurt you. I would never forgive myself if you did."
It didn't take long for the transfer to Durmstrang to finalize. Lucius was correct saying that many purebloods would do the same once they heard of what happened. He recognized all the names but the most prominent he had a list made of.
Parkinson
Zabini
Crabbe
Goyle
Greengrass
Carrow
Flint
Weasley
Longbottom
Nott
Moody
And more. It had a mix of all four houses and plenty of cores. Lucius was about to call it a day and head home when he heard a knock at his office door.
"Come in." He says politely.
He watched as William Weasley, the new Weasley Lord, came in with a heavy sigh. He took in the tired posture of William and immediately stood to help the poor child to sit in the nearby chair.
"William, what is wrong?"
"I may have to disown my parents." Said the ginger sadly. "They keep putting ideas in Ron and Ginny's heads. I If I disown them, Ron and Ginny won't be allowed contact..."
"Because of family magics..." Lucius said gently. "It's up to you what you feel is right."
"I don't understand how Dad thought you were a bad person..you are far from it." Bill said running a hand through his hair. "What would you do?" He asks looking at the older man pleadingly.
"I would disown them as I would not allow my family to be manipulated in such a way. Ronald and Ginerva have time to grow up. Perhaps getting away from your parents will allow that." Lucius says before deciding to redirect for now. "And how are things going with the Weasley Manor?"
"Good. The Goblins say that it should be finished soon. I plan to take Charlie, Percy, and the twins there first so they can pick out their rooms. Then if it is alright with uou, I would like to allow Cygnus and Draco to have rooms there as well as I know they are good friends with the twins."
"I will allow it." Lucius says with a nod.
Cygnus smiled widely as he looked around Durmstrang. It was beautiful. Although snowing, his robes were charmed with the warming charm permanently. With him were the other transfers. Next to him was his brother on one side and Blaise on the other. Next to Draco were Vince and Greg, with the twins next to them. Next to Blaise were Pansy and Daphne with Neville and Theo next to them. Behind them were the others.
"Welcome to Durmstrang!" Headmaster Igor Karkaroff says in a thick russian accent. "I will not bore you with many details right now. I know it is late and so what I will say is boys have their own set of dorms and girls have their own set of dorms each on their own side. The leaders of each side will now escort you to the dorms."
Cygnus watched as Igor left causing him to look at the two new occupants. One was Vedra Dineva and the other was Deyan Dineva, twin brother and sister. They immediately broke down the basic rules with promises to get them the entire list of direct rules.
"Alright, girls, follow me." Vedra said, her russian accent prominent, as she walked away.
"Boys, follow me." Deyan said walking away to the opposite direction of his sister.
Dear Mum and Papa,
So far I am enjoying the first night here. Turns out there are no houses or separation of students except by year. Instead the boy's dorms are on one end and the girl's dorms are on the opposite end. Which is really cool I think.
Here, I share a room with Blaise, Dray, Neville, and a boy named Mikhail. So far he seems nice.
Thank you for letting us transfer. I know Hogwarts is traditional for the Malfoy and Black families.
I will say, Ronald and Ginerva have been complaining but Fred and George have been reminding them of something Lord Weasley said. I'm not sure what it was but it does make them shut up.
Please keep Hedwig a few nights before sending her back.
Love,
Your son,
Cygnus A. Malfoy
Chapter 5: Allies Gained
Chapter Text
Viktor Krum knew that something was different about him when he met the youngest Malfoy. He looked like his twin and acted like a pureblood, but he could sense something different. It wasn't until his Headmaster pulled him into his office did he finally understand.
"Wait, what?" Viktor asked, making sure he heard correctly.
"The Malfoy's godfather is Consort Dark Lord Severus," Igor said tiredly. "Meaning they are the Dark Princes, not they know that at this time. You need to make sure that everyone is aware that they are not to be aggravated or hurt in any way. I doubt the Dark Consort will be forgiving."
"Look at who it is."
The Malfoy twins turned around to see someone with very obvious veela genes. They were beautiful with darker skin and a black afro. Her eyes, however, were bright grey. Cygnus and Draco took quick notice of the fire in her eyes, causing them to both stand defensively.
"The Malfoy twins. The two who captured the hearts of Europe." Her voice held a thick French accent that held anger.
"Cygnus. Go get Professor Ravens." Draco said softly as he pulled his wand out.
"Ah." A wand was put to Cygnus's throat. "I do not think so."
Cygnus stood still with an odd sense of calm coming from him. He nodded to his brother. They both looked to the female of the pair who held them captive. The twins knew it wouldn't be long until they were found. They merely needed to stall.
"Have an issue?" Draco asked, his voice steady.
"We do." The young man who held his brother at wand point said angrily. "What reasons do you have being Europe's most loved?"
"We have no control over that." Cygnus said quickly, although not defensively. "Now, do not do something you will be bound to regret. Not only would you face the wrath of the Malfoy House, you would also face the wrath of Parkinson, Greengrass, Zabini, Weasley, Karkaroff, Carrow, Flint, Crabbe, Goyle, Moody, and many more Houses I doubt your family will wish to make enemies of. Aren't I correct, Aubin and Miryam Trottier?"
The twins, both the younger siblings of Heir Xavier Trottier, froze. Their eyes looked to Draco who merely chuckled.
"Of course we know who you are." He said laughing still. "You expect the Malfoy Heir and Black Heir to not know of the families of Europe? I bet you don't know all the families of Europe."
"Why you!"
Before Aubin could truly react the way he wished. Which was to curse Cygnus Malfoy with the cruciatus curse. He was stopped, however, by Viktor Krum putting his wand at the back of his neck.
"Put your wands down. Now." Viktor said harshly. He watched in satisfaction when their wands were put away. This allowed the Malfoy twins to move behind him. "If you ever target the Malfoy twins, you will face my wrath. Understood?"
The two nodded running off. He turned around looking at the Malfoy twins. His eyes glanced behind them noticing their group. It held no surprise to him that it held Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Daphne Greengrass, Astoria Greengrass, Gregory Goyle, Vincent Crabbe, and Fred and George Weasley. This said group ran over wands and the ready. Minus Blaise Zabini and Astoria Greengrass, both of whom checked on their respective betrothed.
"It is alright. Krum protected us." Cygnus Malfoy said softly with a smile. "Now, I believe Draco and I have a letter or two to write."
"I believe so, Cygnus." Draco says smiling.
Remus Lupin growled lowly as he paced in the seating area of Severus's quarters within Hogwarts. His eyes were stuck in the color amber, meaning his wolf was very close to the surface.
"You mean to tell me, Sirius Black, the man to betray James and Lily, has escaped? Do you think he knew?" Remus asks softly.
"I am not sure but I know he didn't betray the Potters." Severus says passingly. "You forget, I am in His inner circle. Black was never in his ranks, that much I can confirm."
"Who?.." Remus asked lightly, almost as though he was going to faint.
"Pettigrew."
Severus watched his newfound friend sit slowly onto the couch with a pained expression on his face. His eyes downcast as a whimper left his lips. The werewolf was struggling lately. He understood why, however.
Remus had learned so many things over the past few days. First, was that his cub was not Harry James Potter, son of Lily and James Potter, no he was Cygnus Abraxas Malfoy, son of Lord and Lady Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, twin to Draco Lucius Malfoy.
Second, the wolfsbane that Albus was requesting Severus make for him was actually killing him. Something Albus knew.
Third, he was not a Lupin. His father was Fenrir Greyback and his mother was Faith Greyback née Howell, the woman he believed to have been his aunt, and he was a twin. His twin brother being Romulus Greyback.
Fourth, as he now learned, Sirius did not betray James and Lily. He was never a Death Eater. No it was Peter.
Fifth, Albus knew everything.
"I..." Remus couldn't find the words, not even the thoughts, to convey how he felt.
"It's alright. Take your time to process." Severus said kindly.
"Was Peter trying to get Cygnus back?..."
"No. None of us knew at the time."
"Do you think?..."
"That Sirius may have found out? Possibly." Severus took a moment before speaking again. "I know that He had received a letter from Sirius a month before that he suspected Cygnus to at least have Black blood. They couldn't hide it well. He wanted to know why his Godson who had no Black blood looked similar to the Black family. It was harder no doubt because Sirius was always closest to Narcissa in terms of his cousins. Sirius, Regulus, and Narcissa were always the closest of the Black's."
Hiding in the Shrieking Shack was one large black dog that looked like a grimm. His eyes narrowed on the walls as he let out a growl. His Godson was not in Hogwarts. Where the bloody hell was his Godson? Who the fuck had custody of James and Lily Potters son!?
Chapter 6: Swears, History, and a Proud Mentor
Chapter Text
Cygnus looked at Krum intensely. Yes, the older student had saved him. But the worst thing that would happen was a crucio, which was not a life debt. His eyes wandered to everyone with him.
To his left was his brother, and to his right was Blaise. Next to Blaise were Fred, George, and Pansy. Next to his brother were Greg, Vince, Daphne, and Astoria, who was right next to his brother. His eyes then went back to Krum. Narrowing slightly, he stepped forward.
"This is not considered a life debt, Heir Krum."
"I am aware, Heir Black."
"Do you want any favors?"
"None."
"Will you swear upon your magic never to ask a favor from this incident alone?"
"I, Viktor Alexi Krum of the House of Krum, vow upon my magic to never use this incident of saving Cygnus Abraxas Malfoy and Draconis Lucius Malfoy from the spells planned by their enemies on this day in the year 1993."
Cygnus nodded. He turned to his group, which also relaxed. They did not wish to owe Viktor Krum, especially when they needed clarification on his loyalty. In Durmstrang, finding someone aligned with Dumbledore would be very rare as most of the students and staff were either Dark or Neutral. In the cases of those who were Dark, Dumbledore tended to write them off as evil. The few exceptions are Severus Snape, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin. They all held Dark cores, but they all fit what he needed for his plans. It may have helped him that all three were abused. Severus for his magic. Sirius for being the odd one of the Black family. Remus for being a werewolf.
Once alone, the group relaxes and sits in their seats. They knew it would be hard adjusting to Durmstrang from Hogwarts. However, they expected students to refrain from trying cursing them in the first week. In their opinion, it was utterly idiotic, especially since the students in question did not look into who they were cursing.
"I cannot believe they tried that," Daphne mentioned first with a frown.
"To be fair, they are horrible socialites," Pansy stated, looking at her nails. "Everything I have heard and read suggests that they are on the brink of being disowned for such behaviors."
"Their parents are from a Noble house, right?" Fred asks as he crosses his arms, leaning back into his seat. "They would want to, then. Often, if a House is only Noble, they are at most significant risk of losing their status."
"Should know, happened to us," George said, holding Lee Jordan in his lap. "The Weasley family used to be a Most Noble House, but since our ancestors fucked up, we lost that. Thankfully, Bill is trying to reclaim the greatness of our house. He had to start with the one thing our family refused to do for years: disown Raymond Weasley, who disrespected the House of Malfoy."
Cygnus and Draco both nodded. It was an insult too great to ignore. Raymond Weasley had cast a spell, leaving Zelma Malfoy, née Umbridge, barren after her first and only child, Abraxas Malfoy. It had caused Zelma tremendous grief to have lost the ability to have children. She nearly feared her husband, Lucian Malfoy's response.
Thankfully, the wizard loved her to the point of not caring that he had no spare. Instead, he took the great insult and demanded that Lord William Weasley disown his spare. Something the man did not agree to. So, they dueled for honor. Lord Lucian Malfoy won the duel, but the House of Weasley lost its status.
It was ironic that the one to restore the honor of the Weasley House was William Weasley, great-grandson by the same name.
"Lord Weasley."
William "Bill" Weasley looked behind him to see Lady Dowager Augusta Longbottom. Her tall frame made her only a few inches shorter than his six-foot-2. Her light eyes bore into his soul, it felt like. He turned fully to face her and bowed slightly—enough for respect but not enough for groveling.
"Lady Dowager Longbottom."
"It is nice to see the House of Weasley begin to flourish once more," she said before walking off, leaving the poor redheaded man confused.
His confusion did not last long as a hand was put on his shoulder. His immediate response was to put his wand to the person's throat. His time as a curse breaker and in Hogwarts against different Slytherins, many of whom he was now friends with, had prepared him for many other attacks. One that was not currently happening was the person whose throat his wand was at was his father, Arthur Weasley.
"Bill."
William sighed, removing his wand. His eyes hardened slightly as he forced himself not to cross his arms and stand tall. Much like Lucius Malfoy would do, as he was taught by said man as well. He may have also added a touch of Severus Snape in there. The man was helping him grow a business to add to his monetary value in curse-breaking and potion-making.
"Is there something you need?" He asked slowly. "Also, it is William, or Lord Weasley, if you wish to be a proper pureblood."
"Why are you acting like this?! This is not the son I and your mother raised!"
"Exactly. You did not raise me as a proper pureblood Heir, so I have been required to find my lessons elsewhere on how to be a proper pureblood Lord. I have taken up the Weasley House seats upon the Wizengamot, and should you or your wife attempt to contact my wards Charlie Weasley, Percival Weasley, Fredrick Weasley, George Weasley, Ronald Weasley, or Ginevra Weasley again, I will be forced to take the appropriate measures to prevent it. Am I clear, Mister Weasley?" William asks, having not raised his voice, not moved it even slightly, unknowingly made his mentor, Lord Lucius Malfoy, who stood behind him proud.
Chapter 7: Weasley's and Trust
Chapter Text
"I am tired of your antics." William Weasley said as he glared at Ron and Ginny.
The Headmaster of Durmstrang, Igor Karkaroff, gave him an empty classroom to talk to his two youngest siblings. The two youngest Weasleys had been causing trouble in their new school. They had been calling their fellow students evil and mini death eaters. To most, the mini Death Eaters comment did not bother the older students. Many of them thought being a Death Eater would be an honor. It was the evil comment that bothered them. They weren't evil. They just wanted to preserve their culture; was that so bad?
"We haven't done anything wrong." Ginny pouts, crossing her arms.
William looked at his youngest brother and noticed a difference. The redhead was squirming slightly and looked somewhat remorseful. It would explain what Lucius told him, who Heir Black had written. According to Heir Black, Ron had been spending time with one Alexandra Moody, the youngest child of Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody and his husband, Alexander Moody, and she had been educating him on the reality of what all had been happening and what the Dark stood for.
It was honestly a culture shock when William learned about it, so he knew what his brother likely felt. Funnily enough, it was Heir Ajax Moody who helped him learn. He internally laughed because it amused him that the Light honestly thought the House of Moody was Light when, in reality, they were Grey.
"Gin," Ron started softly. "We shouldn't be judging anyone here. None of them have done anything to harm us or others. Much less they are students like us."
"Ron is right, and if this behavior continues, I will be forced to discipline you the way I see fit, and Gin, you will not enjoy what I have in mind," William warns.
"What will you do?" She asks smugly.
"First, I will be, regardless, disowning our parents from the House of Weasley." He begins, causing her eyes to widen. "Secondly, I will force you to go to Aunt Muriel's Lady Lessons. She has been requesting I make you attend. Thirdly, I will no longer allow you, either of you, to owl Granger any longer."
"What! No!" Ginny exclaimed, standing. Her eyes trailed to Ron, who shrugged, his eyes downcast. "Ron, He can't do that!"
"He can. Besides, I stopped writing to her months ago. She couldn't understand why I was suddenly defending Malfoy."
"You defended Malfoy?" William asks without letting much give way to his emotions.
"Erm, well, she, that being Granger," Ron began nervously. "She wanted me to tell her about the ongoing of Malfoy and essentially spy on him. I told her that was ridiculous to do. She said he was evil incarnate and needed to be put down. I I may have sent a copy of the letter to Madame Bones and even shown the Headmaster here so he was aware as well..."
"You did the right thing, Ron. I am truly proud of you," William said softly. "I will now monitor your owls, Ginny, and you are not allowed to owl Granger. I am sure I do not have to inform you what will happen if you attempt to contact Molly or Arthur No-Names?"
"No."
"You can't do that!" Ginny shouts, standing.
"You will find that as your Head of Family House, I can! Do not contact them unless you wish to be disowned, Ginerva! Am I clear!?" William said with a raised voice as he stood.
"Yes.." She sighs, sitting down once more.
"Malfoy!"
Cygnus turned to see Ronald Weasley running his way. When he caught up to the blonde, the redhead looked flushed and out of breath. Cygnus stood tall and stoic-faced as he looked at his former friend.
"Yes, Weasley?"
"I," Ron sighs before bowing before him. "I, Ronald Billius Weasley, hereby apologize for all offenses caused by myself and all harm I have caused to Cygnus Malfoy, Heir Black. I offer myself in service to right any wrongs and accept any punishment the Malfoy Family hands me."
"You mean it..." Cygnus says in realization. A smile grew on his lips. "Y-You mean it!"
"Yes, I do," Ron says, not looking up.
"Dray! I have my first friend back!" Cygnus yells in childlike glee. He pulled Ron up and hugged him. "I missed you, Ron!"
Ron, although in shock, hugs back. The hug is awkward and full of surprise before the two boys hold each other tightly and tearfully. Draco smiles happily for his twin. Even if Cygnus never vocalizes it, he knows that losing Ronald Weasley caused his brother great turmoil. He is wary of the youngest male Weasley's apology and its sincerity. Yet, he concedes to watch them for a time.
"He is just going to accept it?" Blaise asked his friend in worry and shock. "Just like that?"
"Unfortunately, it seems so," Draco answered, watching with Blaise as his brother and the redhead caught up. "I cannot deny the seriousness of Weasley's apology, however."
"Wait, did he do one of the pureblood apologies?"
"He used the servitude apology," Draco admitted. "I do not think Mother and Father have gotten that far with Cygnus in their lessons. I will write them and have them explain it in full next lesson."
"That would be a good idea." Blaise sighed. "Hopefully, that means Weasley won't hurt him again."
"He better not, " the blonde sneers, "or I will personally deal with him this time."
"I would help," Blaise mutters before smiling as Cygnus approaches and kisses his cheek. "Hello, Love."
"Did Dray tell you the good news?!" The blonde asked, bouncing on his heels excitedly.
"He did. I am happy for you. If he hurts you again, though, tell Draco and I immediately, and we will take care of it, ok?"
Cygnus nodded sharply. "Of course. I trust you both with my life."
Both Blaise and Draco smiled in appreciation. They were happy to have his trust, especially after all he had been through. They knew his trust was hard to earn, so earning it and having him say it aloud meant everything to them.
Chapter 8: Letters and Rats
Chapter Text
Madame Amelia Bones,
I am writing to you to inquire about the trial of my mate, Lord Sirius Orion Black the Third. I was never given the information, but as his bond, I am granted it. If you could personally make sure the information is sent my way, I would be appreciative.
Sincerely,
Consort Remus John Lupin-Black
Consort Lupin-Black,
It appears Lord Black did not receive a trial. If you have contact with him, please allow me to rectify that mistake by meeting with me at whichever time and date you choose at Bones Manor. I only wish for it to be done before the Yule holidays when my niece is present.
Sincerely,
Madame Amelia Susan Bones
Remus handed the letter to Sirius. He remembers the incident that led him to find Sirius. The werewolf was taking a walk near the shack. His mind filled with memories that, instead of being plagued because of Sirius, were plagued because of Peter. He heard a small whimper inside the shack, causing him to pause. Taking a chance, he looked inside to see a Grimm-like dog. He frowned as he saw how thin the dog was. He took notice of the shivering from obvious chills. As soon as he breathed in the smell, he knew it was Padfoot, Sirius' animagus form. He quickly took Padfoot into his arms and rushed him to Severus. That was a few days ago. The same day, he sent that letter.
"Do you think if I went and got free, Lord and Lady Malfoy would still let me have a relationship with their son? My magic is still attached to him through the Godfather bond. I would also like to get to know my heir and teach him things only I will know about the Black family."
"I cannot speak for them, but I do know they are allowing Remus to get to know Cygnus, and given he is your Heir, I do not foresee any problems," answered Severus calmly. "They will likely require you to work with a Mind Healer before any time alone."
"That is fair. Even with my time as an animagus, I doubt that I am untouched by the effects of the dementors." sighed Sirius sadly.
In Durmstrang, the transfer students excelled quickly, each taking a spot or two at the top of their classes. Draco and Cygnus are in the top two spots in Defense Magic. Blaise and Cygnus both took the top two spots in charms. Pansy is taking the top spot in Transfiguration. Draco took the top spot in Potions, while the twins took the top spots in their year. Vincent and Neville took the top spots in Herbology. Theo and Flora Carrow took the top spots in History of Magic, while Percy took the top in his year. Daphne and Gregory both took top spots in Magical Creatures. Lastly, Ron and Hestia Carrow took the top spots in Astronomy. Our top students are in Charms class, learning the Patronus Charm.
"Many, specifically those in the United Kingdom, will tell you this charm is difficult to manage, but that is untrue." began their Charms Professor, Volen Satirov, the third son of the Satirov family. "The spell is Expecto Patronum. Say it with me, EXPECTO PATRONUM."
The entire class said it with him. Each one is excited to see their patronus. They had been discussing the charm and its history for a week now. Pleased with their pronunciation, their Professor lined them up so each one could see their patronus.
Everyone watched as Cygnus and Blaise, matching black swans, circled each other lovingly. A blush was seen on each boy's cheeks as they gazed upon each other. Blaise's was more significant than the other, although everyone chalked it up to him being the dominant.
The next big event of their day came from Transfiguration. They were learning the Animagus Revealing spell, which, when used on actual animals, had no consequences. Yet, when used on an animagus, it would show their proper human form. Everyone was to use their pets that day, as no one thought an animagus was hiding amongst them.
"Ebublio!" the professor yelled without hesitation, trapping Peter Pettigrew—Ron Weasley's rat Scabbers—in a sizable bubble. "Zabini, can you fetch the Headmaster? Everyone except the Malfoys, please exit."
Cygnus glared at the man trapped in the bubble. He was furious. This was the man who had betrayed their Lord and caused his family pain. He felt as his magic pulsed around him. His eyes never left the rat-looking man. It took every ounce of self-control he had not to attack the rat. He stared until he lost track of time. He did not realize others had arrived until his Mother pulled him into a hug. His eyes became filled with tears as he limply hugged her.
"My swan, it's okay. He is gone from the room now, " she whispers softly. We are safe. He won't harm us." She looked up to her husband. "We should take the boys home for the weekend. I cannot bear leaving them right now, Lucius."
The Malfoy Lord could only nod in agreement. Even if he did not wish to take the boys out of school for the weekend, he could not find it within him to deny his wife. Despite what many, mostly the Light, thought, Lucius Malfoy loved his wife. Their marriage started as a loveless arranged marriage. That he cannot deny. Yet she warmed her way into his cold heart. Then, the best day of his life came: the birth of his sons. Everyone around him could tell he was excited about the birth of his sons. He would proudly show off any scans, clothing they bought, and, after the day they were born, their pictures. No one could truthfully say that Lucius did not love his family. He loved his wife and sons; he loved Severus like a brother; he loved his brother-in-law through Severus.
"Papa, can we have Uncle Sev visit?.." Cygnus asked with wide eyes.
"I am sure we can get him over as an emergency," Lucius says with a small smile. "Would you like Remus Lupin there as well?"
"You wouldn't mind?..." He asks softly.
"Of course not," Lucius says softly. "As long as you are comfortable with him being over, then I do not mind."
Chapter 9: Mind Healers and Trials Set
Chapter Text
He was not happy about this. Not in the slightest. He understood, however, why his parents set this up for him. He may not admit it out loud, but the Dursleys really messed him up. It also did not help to find out that he was not who he thought he was, and could have lived a good life if not for the intervention of old farts. He tried to pretend that it didn't bother him, but with every instance of begging not to be sent back, or the times his brother or Blaise found him crying from a nightmare, it was clear that it did.
"Cygnus, this is Emilea Owlery, a Mind Healer."
Cygnus looked to where his father had entered, accompanied by a witch who was close to his mother's age. She had long, brown hair and hazel eyes that were kind, and she did not gaze at him in pity. He hoped it stayed that way. He sighed as he stood tiredly and bowed respectfully.
"Well met, Miss Owlery."
"Well met, Heir Black." She smiled, and her voice rang like bells in his ear, soft yet strong. "Would you like your Father to sit in on this first session? I know many children prefer a trusted adult in the room until they can trust me. I understand and will allow this if you decide on this course of action."
"Will you, Father, at least this first session?"
Emilea took notice of the sad smile the Black Heir gave his father. He was hesitant, and he clearly expected to be told no in some capacity. She then noticed Lord Malfoy's immediate response of agreement. It was clear that he loved his son and wanted him to do well. She did wonder what had happened to cause the child to need her care. She also knew she was seeing a side of the Malfoy family that most would never be privy to. She even noticed the differences between the Lucius Malfoy she went to school with and the one she saw now interacting with his son.
The three of them sat down in a decent-sized room with a couch and two armchairs. The walls were navy blue with dark wood flooring. The couch and armchairs were black in color and made of soft material. Emilea sat in the armchair to the left of the couch as Lord Malfoy and Heir Black sat together on the couch.
"Let us start simple: tell me who you are. What is your name? What are your likes and dislikes? Who are your family members, if you wish? Who, in your words, is Cygnus Malfoy?"
"Well," he gulps, looking at his hands. "My name is Cygnus Malfoy. I was previously known as Harry Potter. I like Quidditch, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, reading, and spending time with those I care about, including my owl, Hedwig. I dislike bullies, small spaces, and dogs."
"Can you explain those dislikes for me? Maybe expand on them?"
"Well, with the dogs it is because of the man with whom I was living with for the previous 11 years, his sister bred and trained dogs to be vicious. I was often chased and bitten by the dogs. My room with them was the cupboard under the stairs." Cygnus looks at his lap. "I was often kept in there as punishment. Sometimes weeks at a time. I hate how much I also enjoyed being there because at least in there they didn't hurt me..."
"That is a completely natural response, Heir Black. As abuse survivors, we often find solace in the places we could escape the physical abuse forced upon us."
"U-us?.." He asked timidly.
"Before I was Emilea Owlery, I was known as Mary Stevens. I was a muggleborn, and unfortunately, my parents were extremely religious and thought my magical capabilities demonic. When Professor McGonagall found me, it was so she could personally deliver my Hogwarts letter. After seeing the clear case of abuse, I was made a ward of Hogwarts. It was actually your Grandfather, Abraxas Malfoy, who introduced me to the Owlery Lord at the time, Jaxton, and his wife, Jazmine. They adopted me and helped me pick my name. I was able to gain a wonderful Father, Mother, and older brother."
"Was it hard?"
She wanted to cry. His voice was timid and small. His eyes landed everywhere but hers, and yet always made their way to her hands. He feared being hit for simply asking a question.
"Some days it still is. Despite having not been there in decades, despite having a wife and two wonderful children, I still sometimes struggle. Mind you, it is not as often as when I began, but I have my moments." She knelt before him with a gentle smile. "Healing is never linear, nor is it the same for everyone. Healing is your journey and yours alone."
Lucius Malfoy looked at the notice in shock. He remembered Severus mentioning to him that they had found Sirius Black and contacted Amelia Bones to get a trial. However, he did not think it would be so soon. He sighed, putting it down.
"Milmy!"
"Mister calls for Milmy?"
"Inform Miss Narcissa that I need her presence in my office."
He waited patiently for his wife to walk into his office. His and Narcissa's marriage started off as most pureblood marriages did, arranged and loveless. However, as she began to show more of that Black spirit, as he calls it, the more in love he fell. By the time they finally had the twins, the two were without a doubt in love with each other.
"You asked for me, Love?"
He looked up with a smile to meet her eyes. Holding out his hand, he pulled her into his lap lovingly. His mind was not on the notice he received, but now on the beauty of his wife. He then sighed as the notice came to the forefront of his mind again. He laid his forehead on her shoulder.
"Your cousin, Sirius Black, has a trial date. It is in three days, and Cygnus is being requested as a witness."
"We don't have a choice but to have him go, do we?" she whispers almost painfully.
"Unfortunately, yes, we must have him be present. The main reason is that he is named Heir. They also need to know if Sirius has contacted him since he escaped Azkaban."
"Well, how about we get the boys the day after tomorrow and keep them for a few days. We both know Cygnus will need Draco's support, and I doubt Draco would even let Cygnus go to the trial without him. Should we also let Emilea know so she can be ready if he needs her?"
"That would be wise. I will send her a notice tomorrow morning."
He had a distinct feeling that this was going to be a significant turning point in their lives. He just hoped that everything would work in their favor.
