Chapter 5: Bow Before the Crown, Side C(ephalopunks)

Chapter Text

"Oh my cod..." Marie murmured as she surveyed the landscape.

"What? Didja think I was joking when I said I found a land full of treasure?" Callie asked.

"I personally thought you were exaggerating." Wasa-B replied. "Considering your track record with such things, it seemed likely."

"Hmph." Callie crossed her arms.

"This place... it's beautiful. And not just because of the treasure." Marie let herself smile. "But it needs a little personalization. I say we each claim one section for ourselves to modify as we see fit. The other sections, we leave untouched... except for the treasure."

Wasa-B pointed (to the best of his ability) to an area that looked like a bunch of half-sunken apartment buildings. "If I may have permission..."

"As long as you stay safe about it." Marie nodded. "I already have my eye on one-"

"I call dibs on the one with the submarine." Callie pointed to an area with a submersible close to the land.

Marie rolled her eyes. "Callie, you can't even drive a car. What makes you think you can drive that?"

"Since when did I say that? I can't even get in, the entrance is underwater." Callie pointed out.

"It's probably cramped and dark down... there..." Wasa-B grew silent.

"Dude, you're trembling." Callie put a hand on Wasa-B's shoulder equivalent, causing him to flinch.

"Are you thinking about that subway depot again?" Marie grew concerned. "You told us you used to have nightmares about it..."

"Correction: still have nightmares about it." Wasa-B shuddered. "The Deepsea Metro was terrible. I'm glad I managed to escape." He paused for a moment. "Sometimes, when I'm close to relapsing... I hear the Commander's voice in my head, giving me orders. It terrifies me."

"Do you need some help?" Callie asked. "Asahi told me he found a therapist who's been helping him a lot."

"It certainly sounds like you need it." Marie added.

"It's fine." Wasa-B reassured the two. "Let's go ahead and start looking for treasure."
