It’s been 2 weeks since Tulip left Infinity Train. After recovering of the mental stress she went through, she’s now ready to throw herself back into potion-making!

Well.

That’s what she’s been saying for a week, and here she is. Still slumped on her table, glaring at the brewing stands with nothing in them.

Or

Tulip is in a slump and needs help. Luckily, Mikayla has just the cure.

Work Text:

It’s been 2 weeks since Tulip left Infinity Train. After recovering of the mental stress she went through, she’s now ready to throw herself back into potion-making!

Well.

That’s what she’s been saying for a week , and here she is. Still slumped on her table, glaring at the brewing stands with nothing in them.

She just doesn’t understand. When she was on the Train, she had no problem making potions with One-One and Atticus. In fact, she even managed to do better than she usually did. She also learnt a few spells, and she was horrible with spells!

However, now she’s standing glaring at her ingredients wall and instead of the usual inspiration that comes from staring at her beautiful ingredients, she feels nothing.

Nothing . It was quite worrying.

Tulip slapped her face and massaged it. Right. Okay. What to do now?

Tulip wanders around her Cauldron room before her eyes glanced at a picture of her and Mikayla, covered in goo from an experiment gone wrong.

Tulip’s eye widened. Mikayla! She gets into slumps all the time! Tulip hates to admit that’s why she hasn’t been able to work but she must if she needs help. The Train helped her figure that out.

Tulip nods in determination before grabbing an onion and heading out.

“Oh, Tulip! It’s 5 am. What do you- woah” Tulip shoves past a groggy Mikayla and starts looking around her living room.

“Where is it then, hmm?” Tulip asked while rummaging through a book pile.

“Where is what Tulip? I’m not a fortune teller, you need to use your words.” Mikayla leaned against the bookcase, eyeing Tulip wearily.

Tulip turns around and places her hands on her hips. “Your cure for getting out of slumps?”

Mikayla blinked at her.

“Well, where-” Tulip was rudely interrupted by Mikayla bursting out in laughter.

“Oh, you don’t have one. Well, this was a waste of time,” Tulip started heading for the door.

“Wait! Wait, don’t go,” Mikayla puts a hand on her shoulder. “Sorry, it’s just you never get into slumps. It’s kind of your thing,”

It was her thing, and Tulip’s a bit sad she lost it.

“Okay, I don’t have a cure for getting out of slumps. But I do have a method I use each time I’m in one.”

Oh?

Tulip looked at the turtle in front of her, then to Mikayla who had an eyebrow raised, before looking back at the turtle.

“Okay, I got the pet. Now what?”

“First of all, it’s a familiar , not a pet. Second of all, a tortoise? Really ? Familiars are supposed to help you and turtles are quite, slow”

“It’s a turtle, they’re fast in water”

“Right, and how’s that going to help?”

Tulip groaned and threw her head back.

“I got the familiar pet thing, now how’s that gonna help me get out of my slump?”

“Well, usually spend time with them!” Mikayla put a hand on Tulip’s shoulder. “Well, I have to go do something for the coven so good luck!

“Wait, Mikayla!” But she walked out of the room, waving goodbye. Tulip groaned again before slumping back onto the table.

“What am I supposed to do?” The turtle slowly walked over to her. She leaned her head to look at them.

“I don’t know why I got a turtle, out of all things for a familiar. I mean, she liked them. A lot for some reason,” The turtle blinked at her. She smiled slightly before scratching its chin.

“I guess - for some weird, convoluted reason - you remind me of the train. Of Atticus and One-One and even Amelia.” The turtle knocked their head against hers. Tulip giggled.

“Y’know, if I could just make a water system, maybe you’d be able to help me then”

A few days later, Mikayla visited Tulip to see her busily making potions.

“I'm guessing my cure worked?” Tulip nodded frantically, not looking up from her work.

“Yup! Agmine is really helpful in finding things for me,” Tulip tilted her head in the direction of Agmine, who was in one of the many water tunnels in the walls.

“Soo I was right?”

“Don’t let it get to your head.”
