Work Text:
It was a normal day in 2015, and Two teens scrolled on Twitter, bored. It felt like they had seen every post in existence.
Bobby was enjoying a cherry ice pop, and K-Ci was half asleep.
They had just got off of school, and went straight to K-Ci's house afterwards.
"I'm so fuckin' bored." K-Ci spoke. Bobby nodded. "Yeah, this ain't like us! We don't get bored."
K-Ci sat up. "Yeah—wait, holdup!" K-Ci stopped on a post. "Look at this post DeVanté made."
Bobby looked over his shoulder, biting on the stick of his finished popsicle.
The post said “If I get 2,000 likes, I'll slap the shit out of this boy named Ralph Tresvant at my school for calling me sus."
Bobby chuckled. "Ralph called De sus? If anything, he's the sus one."
"Ain't that your friend, Bobby?" K-Ci asked with a raised brow. "Yeah, and that gives me the right to call him gay!" He smiled.
"We're off Topic," K-Ci chuckled. "That post already has 4,000+ likes because DeVanté is famous on Twitter. I might not have that much followers—"
"You have two thousand." Bobby interrupted him.
"I know." K-Ci snapped. "As I was saying, We'll say we're gonna do something bold for blank amount of likes, we do it, and get even more likes when we post it."
Bobby smiled devilishly. "I like your thinking, K!"
They did their signature handshake.
K-Ci made a post.
“If I get 1,000 likes, Me and Bobby Will...”
Bobby nudged him. "We'll...?"
"I don't know! It has to be destructive, that's for sure."
"How about we steal something?" Bobby pulled out his phone, scrolling in his gallery. "We can steal..."
He stopped. "A bus!"
K-Ci made a face. "A bus?"
Bobby showed him an old photo that dated back to 2013 or 2012. It was Bobby, K-Ci and Dalvin posing in front of the school, a school bus in the back.
Bobby scrolled in, pointing at the bus.
K-Ci hesitated for a second, but gave in after a few seconds. That was it, they would steal a bus.
"Okay, then," K-Ci smirked, taking a picture of the bus off of Bobby's phone.
"Steal...a...Bus."
"It's settled. we finna steal a bus!"
They did their handshake again.
"Bobby," K-Ci shook Bobby awake. "Bobby, wake up!"
Bobby had ended up staying the night—of course, after a choreographed dance routine to convince their parents since it was a school night.
Bobby woke up, crusty eyed. "What?"
"Our post hit a thousand likes!" He smiled widely, shoving the phone, which K-Ci had on 100% brightness, in his face.
Bobby hissed in pain, covering his eyes.
Luckily, he quickly bounced back. "Wait, really?"
"Yes! We're gonna stea—" he paused. "Steal a bus." He whispered.
Bobby looked left, then right. "Today?"
"Yes, today!"
K-Ci tapped on the comments, presenting them to him. "They sayin' we aren't gonna steal it. Wanna show them how chaotic we are?"
Bobby smirked. "Of course."
"Good," K-Ci pocketed his phone. "Because JoJo called me a liar."
"Fuck JoJo, with his fat ass." Bobby chuckled. (Bobby, stfu! He ain't fat he's just chubby. Very Chubby and cute.)
"I'm gonna call Dal. I want him in on this." K-Ci dialed his number. "You go get ready for school."
Bobby nodded.
After his shower, and getting dressed, he walked to school with K-Ci.
"You got a plan?"
K-Ci nodded. He had secretly stood up a bit later than usual to hatch a diabolical plan for the next day.
"Around Lunch, we're gonna steal it."
"Why Lunchtime specifically?"
"So everyone is distracted while eating their food! Then, We'll just take it for a lil spin, make a lil video, and we're done!" K-Ci snapped his fingers. "Easy, right?"
"Definitely!"
"Hey, Guys!" Dalvin waved at them. His older brother, DeVanté, paid him no mind as he departed from him.
When Dalvin was finally face-to-face with the two, he immediately went to ask about the plan.
"Two words, Dal. Lunch-time."
"K, Lunchtime is one word..." Bobby corrected him.
"Sure, sure," K-Ci waved him off. "We're gonna need these, though." He reached deep into his now opened backpack, handing them outdated Spider-Man walkie talkies.
"What do we need these for?" Dalvin asked, stupidly.
"Just in case, you know?"
A bright light practically shined on the school bus.
It was unlocked, and the keys were right there in the front seat.
The three had just finished indulging in a hardcore, advanced game of rock, paper, scissors to decide who was going to drive.
K-Ci won.
He had zero idea how to drive, but he'd learn along the way.
Bobby had most of his socials set up so he could record and post.
He'd post it on Vine, Twitter, and probably Instagram.
"This the type of shit that get's your adrenaline pumpin'!" Dalvin laughed. "I should've brought Tionne."
Bobby stood next to K-Ci. "I'm finna be standing up the whole time."
"Shit, you got a death wish, Bobby?" K-Ci joked.
K-Ci started the bus. "Why the steering wheel so big...?"
"Can you even see over it?"
"Yeah—but gimme a..."
The bus started to move, and K-Ci drove it out of sight.
Bobby decided to record when K-Ci was away from the school grounds.
"Bitch, you thought we wasn't gonna steal a bus?" He laughed. "Nah, that ain't right..."
He wanted it to be perfect and believable. Those people on Twitter said they wouldn't, and they did. He was lowkey ready to show them how extreme they could be.
Bobby restarted the video.
“Bitch, Y'all thought we wasn't gon' steal a bus?” Bobby laughed, switching the Camera to K-Ci, who was driving the stolen vehicle.
"We really got that bus here—whipping the piss outta it!"
"This is forreal crazy, though!" K-Ci laughed as he swerved.
Those laughs didn't last long.
K-Ci suddenly slammed into someone's mailbox.
"K, what the hell!?" Dalvin stood up, only to fall due to another swerve. Bobby held onto the seats for dear life, hoping they wouldn't crash.
"It's cool! We cool again..." K-Ci breathed heavily.
"Maybe this actually wasn't a good idea..." Dalvin shook with fear—fear of being caught and punished.
"Shut your scary ass up, Dal." K-Ci spat.
"Yeah, plus, This'll go viral and we'll be famous!" Bobby smiled at the thought. "Ain't y'all church boys, too? The school will definitely go crazy after they see all this."
Dalvin looked off to the side. That was true. Dalvin wanted people to know that DeVanté wasn't the only rebellious one.
"Okay, I'm gonna post this now—!" Bobby's voice cracked due to him almost lunging forward.
Dalvin fell flat on his face.
"K, Control the damn bus!"
"I am! I said give me a—"
K-Ci slammed into someone's car, totaling the side of it. K-Ci panicked, so he quickly turned the corner.
"You just hit someone's car! We gotta go back."
They heard sirens.
"The cops are after us! What are we gonna do!? Dalvin panicked.
"Like I said, give me a second!" K-Ci gripped onto the steering wheel.
"Now there's a helicopter after us!" Bobby shouted, sticking his head out of the window. He was shaking, too.
"Y'all whine too much! I'll try to pull over—"
"Now my Dad is after us!" Bobby's eyes filled up with tears. This wasn't a good idea.
Welp, at least they spent their last day having fun.
"You guys wh–your Dad is after us!?"
Dalvin and Bobby turned around at the same time, staring at the terrifying scene that was displayed behind them.
A police car, a helicopter, and Bobby's Dad.
“Robert Barisford Brown, when I get my hands on you!" He shouted.
"What are we gonna do!?"
"We go back!" K-Ci swerved for the third time that day, heading back to the school.
"Help! Someone help us!" Dalvin screamed into his walkie talkie. Bobby slapped it out of his hand. "Now is not the time to be extremely vulnerable!"
Unexpectedly, the Bus started to go faster.
"K, do you want me to take the wheel? This is frustrating!"
K-Ci didn't speak.
"K-Ci...?"
"Jump."
"Huh?"
"Jump! We're about to drive into the school!"
Bobby stumbled to find the button that opened the bus doors. When he did, he just happened to be the first one to jump out of the moving vehicle.
Dalvin was second. It had taken him a second, because he thought of not living to tell Tionne he loved her, and he got emotional.
K-Ci, the driver, was last.
All the people chasing them stopped.
They were all laid out on the ground, groaning.
Jumping out of a moving Bus wasn't the best idea, but neither was not doing anything... But then again, this whole operation was stupid.
They heard a loud cash; the bus ramming into the school.
Ralph screamed as he got his shit rocked by the one and only Donald “DeVanté Swing” DeGrate.
JoJo was recording.
DeVanté slapped him across his face, leaving a mark. "This is for calling me gay!"
"I'm sorry! It was a dare! Kill Ronnie, not me!" He begged.
The whole class was watching, laughing at poor Ralph, even the teachers.
DeVanté had waited until Lunch was over, so everyone would be in the halls at the same time to watch Ralph get his shit pushed in.
"And this is for–" Before DeVanté could injure him any further, A bus crashed into the school.
Luckily, no one was hurt, but it was still shocking.
"Damn..." JoJo said under his breath. He was glad he got that on video.
Then they heard sirens.
Forgetting about the fight, the whole school ran outside to see what the commotion—and the crash—was about.
"This ain't over, Nigga." DeVanté kicked the injured Ralph.
Still recording the action, JoJo pushed through the crowd with DeVanté.
Boy, was it a sight.
There lay Bobby Brown, Dalvin DeGrate, and Cedric Hailey in the street, hurt and twitching.
"Hey, they did steal that bus! Like they said!" A student accidentally snitched.
DeVanté face-palmed. He knew they were stupid, but this? They had to be absolutely brain dead to think this was a good idea.
The teachers tried to keep the students away, but to no avail.
“Bobby Brown, what were you thinking!?”
“Dad, I'm sorry, I thought it would be funny!" He sobbed.
"Damn, his Dad here? Shaking my head." JoJo instigated.
Dalvin and K-Ci shook with fear as Bobby got scolded, because they knew their parents would be called, too.
Not a single person could believe that a whole helicopter was there. The cops? Understandable. But a whole helicopter was a different story.
DeVanté groaned.
Now he was going to get an ear full because Dalvin did something dumb.
Ralph limped next to him, seeing what happened. "H–Hey! That's Bobby and K-Ci." He squinted, "Oh, and your brother! Imagine what's gonna happen when you two get home."
DeVanté glared at him before punching him right in the nose again.
The Trio were suspended and grounded until their eighteenth birthdays.
They were slightly injured, having scrapped their elbows and knees.
Instead of sulking all day, they were laughing at all the memes people had posted about them on the internet.
Of course, they had went viral, and millions of angles were posted.
Dalvin wasn't even supposed to have his phone! K-Ci and Bobby had helped him steal it back.
Even if their buttocks hurt from getting whooped so hard that there were bruises on their backs, it was all worth it in the end.
This whole thing had helped them grow closer in a way.
Oh, and that video of DeVanté beating up Ralph went viral too, so DeVanté was also grounded.
Dalvin made DeVanté apologize to Ralph, since he was Bobby's friend.
But hey, they knew there were going to be consequences.
They stole that bus, they went viral, and now they went down in history.
It was named The great bus jacking of 2015.
Everyone didn't believe them at first, but now they do,
Because they indeed stole that bus.
