Chapter 1: The Child
Chapter Text
"Korosensei."
"Yes, Nagisa kun?"
"Why is there a child sleeping in the teachers' lounge?" The blue haired boy seemed rather too calm for the question he just asked.
"Well, Nagisa kun, I would assume he's sleeping because he's tired." The yellow octopus of a teacher said, quite unhelpfully. Perhaps this teacher was the reason why Nagisa almost seemed unbothered.
"But is he even allowed to know about you? Karasuma didn't mention a new student." Nagisa took out his phone to check if he had missed anything, but he hadn't.
"I found him injured on the mountain. I didn't want to send him home untreated so I took him here to treat him. He only speaks English, but even then doesn't say much." Korosensei looked worried through his ever present smile.
In the teachers' lounge the child Nagisa was asking about slept. Black, messy hair that had brown highlights in the sun slept much more deeply than he usually did. His skin was dark, but he had a shocking pale scar of a lightning bolt that covered his whole forehead, even coming close to one eye and cutting through his eyebrow. Though they couldn't be seen as he slept, he had the most captivating green eyes.
This boy was Harry Potter, unknown to class 3-E he was the hero of the wizarding world from age 1, though even he couldn't have told them that. Raised unloved and uncared for, sleeping lightly out of self preservation.
Harry woke up as the door opened for the third time since he had fallen asleep; once when Korosensei left, once when Nagisa looked in, and now, as the black, spiky haired Karasuma walked in. Harry froze, looking at Karasuma with big, scared eyes. He didn't know who this man was, but he obviously packed a punch, possibly one worse than Vernon's, and he didn't think he was supposed to be here.
"あなた!これはなに!?" The man yelled, though he was faced away from Harry and along the hall outside the room. ("You! What the hell is this!?")
"行方不明の少年。彼を飼えますか?" Came the reply. ("A lost boy. Can we keep him?")
Harry recognised that voice. He thought it was a dream when he was suddenly in a forest and a giant yellow thing took him to a run down building to treat him. It was a dream he could never tell Vernon if he valued his life, but now he wasn't sure it was a dream.
"いいえ、あなたは正気ですか?あなたは国家機密です。" The man turned to face Harry, who pulled back into himself at the angry expression that softened ever so slightly when looking at Harry. "そして、あなたはだれですか?" ("No, are you insane? You are a state secret." "And who are you?")
Harry tried not to shake as the man looked at him expectantly. Harry was sure he was speaking some language, but Harry couldn't recognise it for the life of him. Then again, the Dursleys would happily keep him from being able to communicate at all if they could.
"彼は日本語を話せません、烏丸さんは英語を使います。" The same voice Harry recognised came again, the yellow octopus suddenly in view. "Hello, did you sleep well?" ("He doesn't speak Japanese, Karasuma-san, use English.")
Harry nodded, knowing better than to ask questions with someone as angry as Karasuma there. The man in question looking fed up, pinching his nose at the point between his eyes.
"What's your name?" Karasuma asked, his eyes once again becoming more gentle as he looked at Harry.
"It's Harry," he said, his voice small. "Unless I'm at home," he added even quieter.
"And what are you doing here, Harry?" Karasuma couldn't let this out, there shouldn't be any way or reason for a child to access the mountain, so why was Harry here? How could he have been allowed to meet Korosensei?
"I... I don't know." Harry's back was against the wall and he was fiddling with the hem of the massively oversized t shirt he got from Dudley, it was frayed, both from age and Harry's fidgeting with it.
"Where are your parents?" Korosensei asked, after all of his jokes of wanting to keep the boy, his parents would be looking for him.
"Dead." Harry, much like Nagisa did when talking about him, sounded rather flat and natural about it.
"I'm sorry." Korosensei managed to look sad despite his smile as he gently placed a tentacle on Harry's head.
Harry flinched, opening his mouth as if to speak, before closing it again. He wanted to ask why Korosensei was apologising, but he knew he wasn't allowed to ask questions.
"Where are the people you live with?" Karasuma had given up on keeping Korosensei a secret from Harry. They would get him to sign an NDA and hope nobody believed him if he told them. It looked like Korosensei treated a head injury, and the scar was obviously not a birthmark.
"At home, probably." Harry didn't think they would have looked for him much, they had always talked about how they wanted to get rid of him after all.
"And where is home?" Karasuma got out his phone to look for directions back to where Harry was staying.
"4 Privet drive, Surrey." Harry said.
Karasuma blinked, he was sure that was in England, not Japan. Yes, Harry was likely from England by his accent and monolingualism, but if they couldn't figure out where he was staying that would be a problem.
"Where are you staying while you're here?" Karasuma asked, getting only a blank look from Harry.
"I don't go anywhere but school." Harry also seemed confused.
-----
Harry was being kept in the teachers' lounge, he was quiet and respectful, not seeming to take up much space, though it had taken a while to convince him not to clean, at least until Karasuma's colleagues got back to him about missing persons like Harry. Korosensei and Karasuma were in front of 3-E.
"From tomorrow you will be getting new classmates and a new science teacher. Be nice to them." Karasuma announced.
"What are their names?" Kaede asked, arm in the air.
"The teacher is called Michelle, the students are Lexsaidh and Killian." Karasuma didn't need to say they were assassins given the class.
Chapter 2: The Teacher
Chapter Text
"Michelle." Karasuma called over to the small, red haired adult approaching the wooden school building of class 3-E.
"Yes?" They asked with a raised brow, sending the two, taller, children walking with them in ahead.
"You have experience with children, right?" Karasuma asked, getting a rather disapproving look.
"Obviously, why?" Nico folded their arms.
"We have a situation. A child found out about the octopus, but all we can find about him is a newspaper article from 6 years ago about his parents' suspicious deaths and his disappearance. It would be useful if you could talk to him." Karasuma lead Nico to the teachers' lounge where Harry still was staying.
He wasn't asleep, as his eyes were open, but he looked dazed, as though mentally a million miles away. Unlike when he had actually been sleeping, Harry didn't react when the door opened and the two entered the room.
Korosensei was having a tea ceremony by his desk, cooking some food for Harry that Karasuma had paid for at the octopus' insistence.
"Can we leave this in your hands?" Karasuma turned to Nico, whose face was set.
"You've given me everything you know?" Nico stayed looking at Harry.
"His name is Harry Potter, he didn't seem to know we're in Japan, he lives in England, he appears to go to school, and as you can see he has more than a few injuries." Karasuma gave a quick fire on the information they had
Nico sighed. "Fine, leave the kid to me. Get the octopus out of here though, we don't want to crowd him."
"You," Karasuma pointed at Korosensei, "out."
"But I'm making him breakfast." Korosensei complained, sounding childish.
"And you move at Mach 20, you can finish making him breakfast without being in the room." Karasuma said through gritted teeth.
Though he was pouting about it, Korosensei did leave the room, Karasuma following. Now it was just Nico and the dazed Harry in the room.
Nico walked over, sitting on the floor opposite him so they were below Harry so as to not come across as intimidating.
"Are you comfortable speaking?" They asked, looking up at Harry and leaning against the wall.
Harry flinched as he came to, vibrant green eyes suddenly fixed on Nico. He took a moment to respond, not having quite processed yet that Nico was in the room.
"Mhm," Harry nodded, to be honest, he did like speaking, he just wasn't usually supposed to. It seemed like this person wanted him to.
"I'm Nico Michelle, you can call me Nico if you want. I heard you're Harry, is that right?" Nico was trying to gently coax the answers out of Harry, they didn't know him yet, but from the assessment they had received from Karasuma, he seemed shy.
"Yes." Harry's answers were simple, that seemed to confirm his shyness, but his answers were still coming.
"Where do you think we are, Harry?" This was a question that was perhaps too difficult for the light hearted conversation Nico was trying to have, but if they were left with no answer or a confusing answer then they could break it down.
"Not at their home." Harry looked out the window at the scenery so unfamiliar to him.
"Who is they?" Nico tried to keep their face calm, but Harry's movement had revealed a rather large bruise at the base of his neck. A bruise it was impossible for Harry to have caused himself.
"My aunt and uncle." Harry bit his lip, as though he wanted to say more, but was stopping himself. Nico was definitely going to come back to that later, but it was time to make Harry comfortable with them, not to find out everything.
"Can you tell me their names?" Nico tilted their head to the side slightly.
"Petunia and Vernon Dursley." Harry folded his arms, but spoke almost like a robot.
"Do you know when you came to Japan?" Nico asked, if it was true that he went to school, which they decided to believe, it was unlikely that Harry wouldn't know he was now in Japan.
Harry shook his head, folding in on himself rather a lot. Nico took note that this was something to address when they had already formed a bond of trust with Harry.
"Okay, how about your favourite food?" Nico moved to a less dangerous subject.
"I don't have one." Harry shook his head.
"Do you want to try a bunch of food together until you have a favourite?" Nico grinned, looking a little cheeky as they placed a finger to their lips.
Harry jumped at Nico's question. He didn't look scared, just surprised. After a moment Harry turned away from Nico, his cheeks warm, but he nodded. A small smile was tugging at his lips, making the otherwise expressionless boy look excited.
"I can't do it all day, because I have work, but I will absolutely take you out afterwards with my kids for some food. When we go just point at anything you want to try, alright?" Nico thought they were getting somewhere with Harry. Maybe they didn't know all of the information that the Japanese government wanted on him, but there seemed to be the start of some trust.
There was a ping from Korosensei's desk, followed by a gust of wind, two cardboard trays of takoyaki steaming, waiting for them. Each tray had 6 takoyaki and a toothpick.
"Have you been to Japan before?" Nico shifted towards the desk, staying below Harry as much as they could.
"No." Harry shook his head, watching their movement, as though scared of them.
"Then this will probably be the first time you try this. Careful, it's hot." Nico pulled both down, holding one out to Harry.
Harry shyly took the tray, eyes flicking between Nico, who was happily digging in, and the tray of food. He shakily took the toothpick, looking at Nico every moment. Nico didn't seem to be looking at Harry, but they were taking in each of Harry's movements.
Harry ate slowly, as though he was afraid of getting told off for eating. It seemed that Harry had some form of trauma over food, but at least it didn't seem as self harmful as an eating disorder.
"Would you like to meet my children now?" Nico asked once Harry was finished, chatter from arriving students flooding in from outside.
Harry made a small noise, it was neither positive nor negative.
"It can be one at a time. Just so you know them a little by the time we go out to eat. They're rather bottomless pits, so we will be getting lots of food." Nico grinned, of course, while the two of them could eat a lot of food, the main reason for the amount of food Nico was planning to buy was so that Harry wouldn't feel too guilty for eating.
Harry nodded, fiddling with the bottom of his frayed top.
"I'll be back soon." Nico finally got up, despite their short stature and Harry was sitting rather raised, to be on the same level as the window, they were still far above Harry when standing.
-----
"Hello!" A girl with reddish brown, curly hair said, her voice loud, from the greeting alone she seemed very bubbly. "I'm Lexsaidh Wood-Michelle, I heard you're Harry! I hope we can be friends, you know you look a lot like Killian, are you going to be our new sibling? Oh! I would love that, it gets so boring with all of Killian's training. You'll play with me, right?"
Nico laid a hand on Lexsaidh's shoulder, she was talking too much that the shy, slow talker that Harry was he didn't have a chance to get a word in sideways.
"Hello." Harry waved at her, though he pulled back.
"Lexsaidh, can you go get your brother?" Nico stood between the two children, their tone not accusatory, but clearly telling Lexsaidh to leave. She was a little too hyper to be around someone like Harry right now.
"Okay. See you later, Harry." Lexsaidh waved to Harry as she skipped away, her long hair bouncing behind her.
-----
"Hello." Killian greeted, leaning on the door frame, Nico sitting on the floor again.
Unlike Lexsaidh, Killian looked like an older, neater version of Harry. With the same black hair that appeared brown in the sun, the same vibrant green eyes that was more like grass than emeralds, and the same awkwardness.
"I'm Killian."
"Harry."
Chapter 3: The Class
Summary:
Class 3-E and my OCs get to know each other.
Chapter Text
"Am I crazy, or did anyone else see the kid in the window?" Okajima asked the room as soon as he entered the classroom, a couple people already milling about, including someone he had never seen before with long, black hair and green eyes.
"I saw him too, but he seems a little young for our class, don't you think?" Meg had also noticed the black haired child.
"Korosensei picked up a kid on the mountain yesterday." Nagisa informed them. "I overheard Karasuma complaining about not being able to find his guardians."
"Killian!!" The tall, reddish brown haired girl sang as she skipped into the room, the black haired individual who hadn't spoken a word looked up at her. "Rema wants you."
At that the black haired individual got up from their desk, leaving their bag behind. The girl who had just called them taking the desk beside it.
"Hell~o!" The girl waved at the other students. "I'm Lexsaidh Wood-Michelle, your new classmate. That was Killian, my brother."
"What kind of assassin are you?" Ritsu's screen turned on to reveal the unusually advanced AI assassin.
"Oh, I'm not an assassin," Lexsaidh laughed a little at the idea. "I'm going to be like my mums; an alibi and distraction. Killian is the one training to be an assassin."
"You... Are training to be an alibi?" Meg looked at Lexsaidh, confused.
"No," Lexsaidh shook her head. "Not really. I mean, I do need a lot of practice to come up with good lies and evidence and stuff, but the decoy role is the one I like more. It lets me have fun with the acting and I get to punch the same kinds of assholes that killed my parents."
"Oh... 'Kay." Okajima was the one who said something, but they were all a little worried about how easily she said that.
Then again, was there anyone in this class who wasn't at least a little strange?
They were all here for a reason, be it violence, messing around, doing badly in tests, being brought in as they're assassins. For Nagisa it was his grades slipping largely due to abuse, for Meg it was because she let her own studying slip out of guilt to someone she promised to teach them how to swim, for Karma it was because he beat up a top student who attacked a previous member of class 3-E.
Assassins must have their own reasons, even if they are more on the outside of the industry.
Only Lexsaidh seemed to notice as Killian slipped back into the room, not even Ritsu who wasn't usually affected by assassination techniques. Lexsaidh seemed to realise it was a deliberate choice to not be noticed, and didn't draw attention to him.
"Who is on class duty today?" Korosensei entered the room at the speed of a normal person.
-----
"Do you know anything new?" Karasuma caught Nico as they left the teacher's lounge.
"Nothing much useful for you, he's clearly being abused, with food being involved in that. You will not be sending him back." Nico's eyes were fierce, it was clear they were not asking.
"We have no legal grounds to keep him away from his guardians." Karausuma sighed.
"Did I not just tell you they abuse him? Besides, use the fact he knows about the octopus to keep him here for at least until March." Nico pulled their arm out of Karasuma's grasp and entering the classroom. "Whatever, it's your job to keep him here, not mine. I have a class to teach."
-----
Almost the whole class sat in uncomfortable silence as Michelle-sensei wrote on the board. They were shorter than a large number of the students, including Lexsiadh and Killian, but they had a very strong presence. They seemed nicer than Bitch-sensei did when she first arrived, but they also seemed more dangerous.
"My name is Nico Michelle, I don't mind what you call me provided it's respectful. I'm going to be your Science teacher from now on. As I'm sure you are all aware, I am an assassin, my job here, however, is not to kill Korosensei, but rather to support you through what this class is putting you through. I am here to be talked to about anything." Nico almost didn't seem human as they turned to the class, but at the same time they had an air of a parent around them, like they only had the class' best interests at heart.
"Sensei?" Isogai raised his hand, the class ikeman as curious as the rest of them. "Can you tell us about the child in the teachers' lounge?"
"If all goes as I think is best he will be your classmate soon. His situation is rather confusing, so you all need to be gentle with him. Other than that I'm not sure what information I can give you. Anyway, it's time for us to study Chemistry, can anyone tell me how to calculate pH?" Nico's face was unpleasant as they spoke about their opinion for Harry, but they quickly snapped out of it to turn the conversation back to class work.
-----
"So, what do you all think about Nico?" Lexsaidh slid onto the teacher's desk as lunch started, grinning at the class.
"They seem better than the other assassins who were brought into our class, but we'll have to see when Korosensei was in another country like Bitch-sensei." Hinata piped up.
"They seem really good at Chemistry, so I like them." Okuda looked at her bento as she mumbled, but her eyes were bright as she spoke about her favourite subject.
"Well, they would be nicer than other assassins. Their main work is to deal with incidents involving kids, this kind of job is right up their alley. They adopted both of us after missions." Killian grabbed Lexsaidh off the desk, and walked her back to their seats.
"How old are both of you anyway? I mean, Ritsu is, like, months old, so I don't think that this class really has the age of other classes." Fuwa leaned on the back of her chair to keep an eye on them as Killian ate and Lexsaidh paid more attention to the rest of the class than her bento.
"Killian is about 13 and I'm 11, turning 12 this weekend. You guys are all 10, right?" Lexsaidh seemed to do more of the talking than Killian, perhaps that was part of their assassination method.
"Yup, we're all 10 or 11." Kaede closed her eyes as she smiled, her smile making Lexsaidh frown slightly.
"They're younger than us, and they already get to have their first mission." Lexsaidh pouted, shoving a small miso rice ball in her mouth.
Chapter 4: The Food
Summary:
Hands up if you wanna murder the Dursleys.
Dinner time!!
Chapter Text
"Harry," Nico called to Harry as they pulled on their coat. "It's time for us to go get some food."
Harry jumped off the chair he was on, the over-sized, worn, dirty t-shirt he was wearing coming up to reveal blue green bruises. He quickly pulled his top down again, looking at Nico with wide, scared eyes.
He clearly didn't want Nico to notice.
They looked like they hadn't noticed, looking down at their coat as they buttoned it up. That being said, they were taking note of every little thing about Harry, the horrible bruises, the attempt to hide it, the wince as he jumped down, and his immediate - silent - response.
"I don't have a spare coat, but Lexsaidh always has an extra jumper in her bag, so please say something if you're cold, it's nippy today." Nico held their hand out to Harry, who ran up to them. "We're going to get loads of food, so eat your fill."
Harry nodded, his shoulders stiff as he followed Nico to where both Killian and Lexsaidh were waiting. Killian was looking out of the window, headphones in as he listened to some music. Lexsaidh was laughing at something on her phone. The two of them looked like they were at a photo shoot rather than waiting for their parent after school.
"Kids!" Nico got their attention, both looking up so simultaneously it was almost freaky. "Time for us to go."
The walk down the mountain was something Nico was worried Harry would struggle with, and while he was obviously exhausted by the time they reached the bottom, Harry had managed to keep pace with the others fairly well, even though Lexsaidh had only one speed, fast, when walking up or down a mountain.
"Right, we're going to the market today, so we're getting the bus." In honesty they, Killian, and Lexsaidh could probably walk there, but Harry was very tired to say the least, as well as being small compared to them and it was obviously better for him to not have to walk, and Nico didn't have their car.
Lexsaidh and Killian went back to what they were doing when waiting for Nico and Harry. Harry sat next to Nico, by the window.
Harry was stiff, fists clenched on his knees as he sat as upright as he could, facing forwards. His mouth was a thin, straight line and he seemed to be trying to avoid blinking. Nico frowned slightly as they observed his actions.
Nico: We're going to get food at the market so we'll be back late.
Raelyn: Okay, bring some mochi home for me!! ♥️♥️😊
Lydia: I'll have a skewer or bun.
Nico smiled at their wives messages, neither had given a flavour, but for mochi Raelyn, like Lexsaidh, preferred chocolate or strawberry, and Lydia liked char sui buns or veggie skewers.
"Harry," Nico pointed out the window past the small boy. "Look out there. That's where Lexsaidh and Killian go swimming, do you wanna join them?"
Harry flinched with a slight jump, quickly turning his head to look int eh same direction as Nico's arm.
It was a large building that was made of glass, higher up Harry could see, presumably, water slides, stairs, diving boards, and seats for spectators. Lower down the windows were either too dark to be able to see in, or they were covered with signs advertising things Harry couldn't read.
The Dursleys had never let Harry learn how to swim, Harry was pretty sure it was they wanted him to drown. Petunia had once taught him about witch hunts while he had to scrub blood, his blood, out of the floor. Witches would be drowned, and if they could float then they were a witch and would be put to death.
He was a freak, if other people really found out how much of a freak he is then he would be tried as a witch. If he knew how to swim he would be killed as a witch.
The same was not true of Dudley, besides he might want to go swimming with friends and shouldn't be allowed to drown.
Nico didn't push Harry when he didn't respond, he looked scared. That was another reason to hate whoever Harry's previous guardians. They would kill those people if they had to to keep Harry safe, though it seemed unlikely it would if they could put enough pressure on Karasuma. He already looked like he had a soft spot for Harry.
-----
"Okay kids, go pick out whatever you want. Get as much as you want to." Nico said as they reached the market, handing each of the three a few high value notes. "Just come back and we'll all eat together."
Lexsaidh was the most visibly excited, though Harry took the longest to take the money. Lexsaidh and Killian ran off into the crowd, while Harry stood still, clutching the money to his chest as he looked around, clearly overwhelmed.
"Wanna walk around together Harry?" Nico offered their hand to Harry, who let out a breath at the gesture. "I need to get some stuff for my wives, but we're going to be getting a lot we can eat."
Harry wouldn't ask anything, he knew he wasn't supposed to, but he was confused. The reason they were getting a lot was because Nico's children were bottomless pits, but they were a lot thinner than either Vernon or Dudley, and they were just given their own money. Could they really not end up buying too much?
The market was bustling even as the daylight faded and the lanterns between the stalls took over. Harry had never seen food like these before, there was mean and/or vegetables on sticks, there were places selling steaming buns, there were places that sold takoyaki, there were places that sold omelettes. The variety of food was almost overwhelming, but Harry couldn't help salivating at the smells.
That being said, Harry was less than willing to spend the money he had been given. Not only was it not his, but if he spent it on something that not only Nico, Killian, and Lexsaidh didn't like, but he ended up not liking then he didn't want to know what the punishment would be.
"If you don't spend any of that," Nico's tone was teasing as they yet again bought something Harry had been eyeing up. "I'm going to have to double it for you to spend next time."
Harry flinched, accepting the bag from Nico. He wasn't sure how that was a punishment, after all Nico would be losing out more, but that's what Nico framed it as.
"I don't know what anyone says." Harry mumbled, looking at his feet.
It was loud enough that he could barely cope, and the fact they were speaking another language while he barely knew how to read English made it so much worse.
"Right," Nico nodded to themself, silently cursing themself for the joke. "Never mind that then. I'm sure you'll get the hang of Japanese before too long, you can spend some money then."
Nico gave Harry a kind smile, holding out a hand to him for him to take as they led him to where Killian and Lexsaidh were waiting.
There was a lot of food.
Chapter 5: The Family
Chapter Text
Nico had told Killian and Lexsaidh to let Harry have his fair share of all the food before they ate it all, and maybe a little more if he looked like he enjoyed it. Harry Had sat there, eyeing the food, unable to understand the string of German coming from the three.
Harry had not eaten as much as Nico would have liked, but he had eaten some of everything. They had all sat at a bench a little distance from the market, that was still thriving, just far enough that it wasn't too loud.
Nico hadn't exactly been planning on spending so much money on food for dinner, but being an assassin meant they didn't really need to worry about money. All the food was eaten, so there was no real harm.
"I'm going to grab the things Rae and Lydia asked for, you three wait here. Don't talk to strangers." Nico winked at Lexsaidh and Killian, slipping off back to the market.
Almost as soon as Nico had left, a man, shorter than Killian, sidled up to the three of them. He sat down next to Lexsaidh who was now on the end. He had long, greying hair, and wide, black eyes. His face and clothes looked clean, but he smelt like a skip.
Lexsaidh glanced at him from the corner of her eye, before tapping away at her phone, ignoring him.
Killian also looked rather unbothered by the man, though Harry noticed that his knuckles were pale with how tense his hand was.
Harry, though, was terrified.
The vibe this man was giving off was a bad one, and it was making Harry feel sick. But he wasn't allowed to ask questions at all, and he had been told not to talk to strangers. Besides, he seemed to be the only one actually worried.
"ねえ、女の子、カラオケに行きませんか? お兄さんが必ず楽しんであげるよ!" The man slurred his words, draping an arm over Lexsaidh's shoulder as her phone dinged for a notification. ("Hey girl, you want to go do some karaoke? Big brother will make sure you have fun!")
Immediately, Lexsaidh grabbed his hand, standing up and twisting his arm to just before the point of breaking it. The man yelled out in pain, somewhere between standing and kneeling.
"妹は兄の腕を折ったほうが楽しいだろうと考えています。 妹に楽しんでもらえますか?" Lexsaidh's voice was cutesy, and with her free hand she touched her lips, batting her eyes and tilting her head in a way that doesn't reflect the action of almost breaking a man's arm. ("Little sister thinks it would be more fun to break big brother's arm. Will you let little sister have fun?")
"ごめん! ごめん! 行かせて!! 行かせて!" The man yelled, eyes filling with tears. ("Sorry! Sorry! Let me go!! Let me go!")
"それでは妹にとっては面白くありません。 さよなら" Lexsaidh sighed, letting the man go, pushing him away from her, taking her seat again and picking her phone back up, the man running away as fast as he could. ("No fun for little sister then. Bye")
"Was that really necessary?" Killain mumbled, cringing under the looks they were getting from the scene Lexsaidh caused.
"What? I'm just a tourist imoto." Lexsaidh put on a mockery of her own cutesy act from just a moment earlier, rolling her eyes and gagging.
Harry had no idea what had just happened, but he thought she was cool. He could never even dream of being able to defend himself like that. He was sure she didn't mess up her chores as much as he did.
-----
Harry fell asleep again on the bus ride back to the house Nico lived in while in Japan; his belly full. None of the three wanted to wake him up, so Nico carried him.
"We're home!" Nico called, pulling their shoes off with Harry still in their arms.
"Ooo, with food I hope." Raelyn and Lydia came to greet their fae and children, Raelyn's grin wide thinking of the market food.
"Nico," Lydia stopped just in front of Raelyn in the doorway. "Did you kidnap a child?"
"Is that not what we do?" Nico laughed, Lexsaidh handing Raelyn the bag containing the two women's food as she and Killian went to the living room.
"Nico." Raelyn raised her eyebrows at the individual.
"Okay, I'm joking. He's from work. We don't know much about him, he's from England and showed up on the mountain injured and tired. He didn't know he was in Japan until he was told, and as far as I can tell sleeps a lot for a 7 year old." Nico's eyes softened as she looked down at the sleeping boy in their arms.
"Human trafficking?" Lydia asked, her voice serious. "Did his parents sell him off?"
Nico shook their head. "He's an orphan, under the care of his aunt and uncle, who obviously abuse him. I doubt they sold him though. He said he's not allowed to leave the house much, so I think they get something from keeping him."
"Poor thing. You still should have told us, we don't have a bed prepared and he's already asleep." Raelyn playfully swatted at Nico, not making contact.
"Killian said Harry could sleep in his bed and he'll share with Lexsaidh tonight." Nico led the adults further into the house, Lydia bolting the door closed before following.
From the outside the house looked like any other, but Nico wasn't a fool, nobody living in the house was, they knew the dangers that came with living with an assassin. Every point of entry was fiercely locked without it being visible from the outside, and reinforced to stop them from being broken easily. They had 3 different safety rooms, none of them reliant on electricity, and all with a week's worth of supplies in.
There was no way to guarantee absolute safety, but they had as closed to reached that point as they reasonably could.
"That's sweet of him." Raelyn nodded.
"Thinking of Killian, these two really do look similar, don't they?" Lydia inspected Harry's face over Nico's shoulder.
"If they are bio siblings then I guess their parents have already received their comeuppance. I hope Killian's bio parents are suffering as they burn in hell." Nico shrugged, silently hoping that they weren't related, not that it necessarily mattered. Both were as good as orphans.
"We're adopting this one too?" Raelyn held the door open for Nico.
"If I get any say in it. If I don't then I guess you 3 will be leaving Japan and Kill, Lex and I can come after Korosensei is killed." Nico shrugged, lying Harry down in the bed, where he snuggled into one of the plushies Killain kept.
-----
Harry felt very groggy as he woke up in a room he had never seen before. It took a moment to remember the market yesterday when he ate dinner with Nico and their children. He ate a lot compares to what he usually did, and the food all tasted so good.
Those memories didn't help him figure out where he was, though. He had assumed they were going to climb the mountain again so he could spend another night in the 教員室 (Teachers' Room) - symbols he didn't know how to pronounce. This was clearly not that room though, as he was on a bed.
Oh no.
He was on a bed, a nice bed, a soft bed.
Harry wasn't supposed to be on a bed like this, ever.
Freaks didn't get nice things like a real bed. They got worn mattresses on the floor, or a pile of blankets, or nothing.
Harry stumbled out of the bed, his knees giving ways slightly, but he managed to catch himself. He was pretty sure he wasn't dreaming, as he had never felt this tired in a dream before. Ever since this dream like reality had happened he felt so tired he couldn't so the chores he was usually supposed to, but he was also told not to do it anyway.
Maybe he had died.
Harry shook his head at that thought; he couldn't be dead, he was a freak. His death wouldn't take him somewhere so nice.
Tentatively, Harry made his way tot h door, looking outside he only saw an empty hallway.
He hadn't been told to make breakfast, nor had he been allowed out of the room, but at the same time he was always told off for making breakfast too late, and he wasn't supposed to be in a room so nice to begin with.
Slowly and quietly, Harry stumbled along the corridor, finally reaching the kitchen where a woman was humming a tune and dancing around cooking. She had long limbs compared to her torso, and she wore a cat covered apron over a short sleeved blouse that was embroidered to look like an autumn scene. She wore black trousers which golden line dividing it into squares. In spite of the formal design, the top had a drawstring rather than a zip and buttons. She looked very like Lexsaidh, except her hair was far straighter and black.
When she caught sight of Harry she smiled, making him jump. He was usually punished when someone smiled at him so nicely.
"It's good to meet you now you're awake, Harry, right? I'm Raelyn. Sit tight while I finish up breakfast and the lunchboxes." Raelyn gestured to the lower chairs by a table, clearly realising he would struggle to get onto the stools to the work surface.
Harry nodded, doing as he was told. He was a little jealous as he watched how much Raelyn was enjoying cooking.
He never got to enjoy anything like that.
Chapter 6: The decision
Notes:
Finally an update, it's only been about 2 years. So sorry for the delay, I shared the OCs with a friend and while we are still good friends, some things happened that I won't get into that made me want to take a bit of a break. I think my writing has improved in that time, but there will be no beta reader from now on, so forgive any errors. Anyway, I cannot guarantee regular updates, but I hope you enjoy this one!
Chapter Text
To Harry's surprise he was served a very full plate of the same breakfast everyone else was having. He didn't recognise all of the food, mostly cooking some variation of a full English when he was with the Dursleys. On his plate was some kind of fried rice dish that he couldn't get enough of, a toasty flavour he didn't recognise making him desperate for more. There was also a salty dark brown sauce poured over it that he liked too. Also on his plate was some kind of meat he didn't think he'd seen before. He didn't know how meat quality was classed, but it practically melted in his mouth and he loved it.
"Harry, do you have any preferences with your lunch?" Raelyn was eating while finishing off the 4 bentos, each one a little different. "Lexsaidh doesn't like tomatoes, Killian won't eat anything fishy, and Nico is a child when it comes to beetroot. Anything you really want to need me to avoid?
"I-" Harry caught a grain of rice in his throat as he tried to speak, surprised by being addressed so early in the morning, coughing hard. Usually he was supposed to stay silent until he was at school. Not that he had anyone to speak to there. "I'm fine with anything."
Raelyn didn't say anything, the room falling silent as the woman responded with a nod and smile. Harry hoped he hadn't ruined the mood.
-----
"Harry, could you sit in the classroom with Killian? I need to talk to the other teachers for a bit." Nico crouched down to Harry's level as they reached the 3-E building.
Nico had tried to offer to carry Harry, but he had still insisted on making his own way. He was faster than he had been the night before, but he still seemed unusually tired when they started. At least they had driven to the Kunugigaoka main campus today, making it easier on Harry to get in and home again. Being out of breath after climbing a mountain was normal, but Nico wan taking note of everything they were seeing from Harry.
Harry nodded, though he took a moment to take Killian's offered hand as the three made their way into the classroom.
Nico sighed watching the three before they made their way to the teacher's lounge. Inside Korosensei and Karasuma were already there, clearly waiting for Nico's report on Harry. Irina had yet to arrive, though Nico had already gathered that by the cars in the main campus car park.
"He has bruises all over his body where his clothes are, is scared to eat, and I'm not convinced he hasn't been drugged by how drowsy he still is. Many sleeping drugs affect children differently, so the effects lasting this long isn't impossible. The legal ones don't though." Nico dropped their bag on their desk, though they kept their hand on it.
If they needed to, they were ready to threaten or outright kill Karasuma if they had to. They took on this role to keep children safe. There were almost no lines they wouldn't cross.
"We managed to find his aunt and uncle." Karasuma looked tired. "No reports of his disappearance, and they seem the type to gossip. There's no guarantee they would believe him, but the chance of this guy," Karasuma gestured to Korosensei, "are pretty high. We're currently discussing what to do about it."
Nico tossed over photos they had taken of Harry the night before while the child was in a dead sleep. No clothes had been fully removed, but his top had been pulled up to reveal his stomach that was more bruise than not, his back which was in a similar state, and the base of his neck. The area covered by the top of the oversized t-shirt had fewer bruises, but there still were some.
Today Harry was dressed in some of Killian's old clothes. They'd only adopted him 3 years ago, so they were still oversized on Harry, but were still worlds better. Nico wanted to wait until Harry was calmer and less affected by whatever was making him so lethargic before they went shopping.
"With this much evidence of abuse you should have the authority to take him out of their custody. He saw the octopus and I think this class is probably one that will help him assimilate, so keep him in this class for that reason. I will adopt him." Nico looked down on Karasuma's seated position from their standing.
"I'll handle it." Karasuma took the pictures.
-----
"Wanna listen too?" Killian offered an earphone when he noticed Harry staring.
Harry jolted sightly at the offer, apparently not expecting to be noticed as he looked at the boy who looked so similar to him. He had been trying not to stare, or at least to make it look like he was looking too hard at Killian.
"I wouldn't offer if it wasn't okay." Killian waved it before Harry took it.
The wire between the two earphones that Killian had kept connected up to just below his chin tore between the two sides as Harry put the offered earphone in his ear. The music playing was unrecognisable to Harry, hauntingly beautiful and somehow familiar in a way that made his eyes water.
On the other side of the room Lexsaidh was playing a game of solitaire with intricately decorated cards, silently paying attention to Killian and Harry's interaction. Her hands didn't stop moving the cards even as she peered through the strands of her fallen hair at her brother.
"Harry, can you come with me for a moment?" Nico stood at the door.
Harry let out a small squeak as he jumped to his feet, wiping his eyes as subtly as he could as he ran to Nico. Left behind in the classroom Lexsaidh turned to Killian before he could put his earphone back in.
"It's unlike you to do something to pull the wires apart." She gestured to his earphones, certainly harder to keep neat now there were more cables that could get caught on things.
"Yeah, well..." Killian shrugged, looking out the window at the trees blowing in the wind. "I can always buy more."
-----
"Okay Harry," Nico picked up the child and put him and put him in their seat, gesturing for Karasuma to lower himself. "You have a choice to make. I promise you are allowed to make whichever choice you want, but you do need to decide today."
Harry's face made his curiosity obvious, but he didn't ask any questions.
Nico frowned at Harry's silence, but he would have time to learn to ask questions.
"You're not going back to the Dursleys, but there are 2 people in England who have expressed a desire to adopt you. You cannot talk to anyone about anything that has happened while you were here, but you can go back to your home country. Those two are an old man named Dumbledore who apparently has a grandfatherly relationship with you, and a man called Remus who claims to have been friends with your parents." Nico explained.
"I don't know either of them." Harry said quietly, looking at his hands though he was no longer playing with his clothes, apparently worried about damaging them
"Well Remus claims to have been banned from seeing you due to a medical condition that can be contagious under certain conditions. It does mean Dumbledore lied." Nico sighed, Korosensei pouring some green tea in a tall tea bowl for Harry. "Your other option is staying here and I will adopt you. You can join this class, though you still have to keep the octopus a secret from everyone who isn't in this classroom or my family. Which do you prefer?"
Chapter Text
The rain lashed at the window as the wizard sat, unkempt with his head in his hands. A flash of lightning illuminated a well worn pendant, Latin engraved around the two rings, a tiny hourglass held in the middle. The chain was broken, and in a few places, the metal of the rings so worn the engraving could only be read from what was probably years of tarnish.
It had been years, at least 6.
Every attempt had been fruitless.
And now it had been a week since he'd discovered the boy as good as his godson - he was the only one left who could have that title - was somehow in Japan. From what he'd heard from Lily Petunia had always hated the idea of visiting the country. Her husband hardly seemed more likely to adventure around the world, and that left nobody Remus could think of who would take him.
Of course, it would be foolish to rule out accidental magic, Harry was at an age where growing up with muggles it was at its strongest. But to be able to take himself to another country? In one piece and so far away?
Remus couldn't bring himself to believe it.
When thunder rumbled again, Remus leaned back as he let out a sigh, his hands falling to his sides. The man likely looked no better than his once to be husband now in Azkaban. His eyes sunken, the skin around them likely permanently discoloured. His cheeks were gaunt, matching the old scars littering his face and the rest of his body. His hair was long, and his lack of washing it almost too obvious.
When was the last time he'd been able to bring himself to eat?
"Why did you all have to leave me?" Remus asked the sounds of the storm, as though his old friends could share their voices through it.
The darkness ate away at Remus' senses until he was sure he heard a voice just behind his ear.
"Don't let Dumbledore touch him."
The wizard bolted to his feet, searching the darkness as he clutched his left ear where he'd heard the authoritative whisper. Even as another flash of lightning illuminated the forlorn living room, he could see nothing that could have made such a sound.
Even the newspaper that lay where he'd dropped it a few days ago - or had it been a month? - had lost the magic that allowed the pictures to move in the death-like house.
The voice had sounded so much like Sirius, yet at the same time didn't. There was a more posh accent than Sirius usually spoke with unless he was mocking his family, not to mention the slight higher pitch,
Had he really fallen asleep?
-----
"So he's really going to be our new brother!?" Lexsaidh's eyes lit up as Nico spoke to her and Killian outside the classroom.
Harry was inside, talking to Ritsu while they waited for the other students to show up. Nico doubted Harry was actually asking her questions, but with the adjustments Korosensei had made to her AI when helping her join the class she seemed to be having no issues explaining. Maybe her lack of clear real life limbs, and her lack of humanity, would make Harry comfortable with asking her questions sooner.
"He hasn't agreed to the adoption yet, but for now he will continue to stay with us. All he has expressed was the desire to stay in Japan, so the red tape requires we have the other potential guardians come here and see if anything else happens." Nico sighed as they leaned against the window. "Be nice to him, and please don't try to pressure him one way or another."
"I'll keep an eye on her." Killian nodded, ignoring the pout sent in his direction.
"Hey!" Lexsaidh swiped at Killian with the back of her hand. "I am perfectly capable of showing him with love with no ulterior motive!"
"If you say so." Killian shrugged, his expression not changing.
"Says the one who tore his headphone wires for him!"
"Kids!" Nico raised their voice slightly, but it was the tone as much as anything that made the two snap to attention. "I love you both, but this is exactly the kind of thing I need you to hold off from for the time being. We all know you don't mean to hurt each other, but that doesn't mean Harry does and we need to make him feel welcome even if he decides to leave. Do you understand?"
"Yes Rema." The two said in unison, both looking ashamed.
-----
"Good morning students!" Korosensei greeted with his usual wide smile, though his face was the orange circle that indicated a correct answer, speaking in English. "I thank you for listening to Michelle-sensei and not launching your usual morning attack. I know you are facing many changes recently, but it is once again time to greet a new student, however temporary. Meet Potter Harry, though I'm sure you've seen him before."
Harry wasn't wearing the Kunugigaoka uniform, technically not yet being enrolled, looking incredibly uncomfortable under the attention of the other students. He opened his mouth several times as if to speak, but no sound came out.
"殺先生、なんで英語で話してるの?" A girl with short hair that had an almost purple hint to its brown colour raised her arm, her attention turning away from Harry to the octopus beside him ("Korosensei, why are you speaking in English?")
"Because our new student here is from England and has yet to learn much of our native tongue. I trust you will all be helpful upperclassmen being older than Potter. Think of this as practice. A good assassin needs to be able to understand even confusing conversations in other languages." Korosensei spoke with the same all-knowing passion he always did, his face gaining the all too well known green stripes as he tilted his head down again. "Of course, accommodating our newcomer will have no impact on your ability to kill me. You had no chance to begin with!"
"Harry," Nico bent down to about Harry's height. "You see that seat between Killian and the window? You can go sit there, don't worry if you can't keep up."
Notes:
Google translate was not helpful about giving me the first character of Korosensei's name. Hope you enjoyed!
(And yes, that was Wolfstar)
