Summary
Nicholas Cox used to dream of becoming a great fencer; now he mops the halls of a prosperous company. Seiji Katayama used to be a great fencer; now he works for his father. From opposite ends of the corporate hierarchy, amidst dreams locked up in glass, something strange sparks between the two.

Nicholas works as a janitor at some fancy company…
Seiji’s works there for his father, and for some reason doesn’t fence anymore…
They end up going on a date and with what’s basically a sugar daddy/sugar baby relationship (they haven’t spoken about it, they’re so silly)…

Doc- ‘ They step inside the boutique. Candles are burning, warm jasmine-scented lighting spilling over the neat racks of clothes, and— there’s Dennis, again.
“Is he the only guy who works here?” Nicholas whispers in an aside to Seiji.
“I’ve never seen anyone else,” Seiji whispers back. Then, raising his voice: “Hello, Dennis.” ‘
- ‘ “You look hot,” Nicholas says.
Seiji preens. “Thank you.” He squints at Nicholas’s reflection. “So do you. You’ve missed a button, though.”
“Oh, whoops.” Nicholas undoes another one, revealing a sliver of collarbone. “How’s that?”
“Uh—” Seiji inhales through his nose— “never mind.” The corners of his mouth turn up slightly. ‘
- ‘ The dialogue isn’t exactly well-written, but there are frequent explosions and gunfire, so in Nicholas’s estimation, it’s not that bad. ‘
- ‘ “I have to come up with a costume. For next Saturday.” Seiji lifts his free hand and rubs at his brow, annoyed. “I shouldn’t have asked, but apparently it’s mandatory.”
“Uh, yeah. Of course it’s mandatory, Seiji.” Nicholas wriggles on the couch, adjusting his position to stare more fully at Seiji’s face. “Where’s your Halloween spirit?”
“That’s exactly what Harvard said,” Seiji admits, followed by an even deeper sigh. “I’ll just… have to do something simple.”
Nicholas scoffs. “Simple? You’re not gonna get one of those shirts that says this is my costume, are you?”
Seiji purses his lips, visibly considering it.
“Seiji!”
“You don’t think that’d be acceptable?”
“Absolutely not.” Nicholas rolls his eyes. “If you tried wearing something like that to Vee’s party, she’d throw you out on your ass.”
“I don’t think—” Seiji blinks. “I don’t think that will happen.”
“You’d better come up with a real costume. I wanna see it.”
“Really?”
“Obviously.” Nicholas grins. “It’ll be cute.” Unless he goes for some kind of pustulent zombie mask or something, but… that doesn’t seem like Seiji. He’d be more likely to go as the world’s most expensive sheet ghost.
Seiji appears to think it over, then he nods conclusively. “I think I’ve got something.” ‘
- ‘ Nicholas: hey
Seiji: Hello 🙂
Nicholas: what are u doing rn
Seiji: Correcting some errors in a spreadsheet that our new Osaka office sent over.
With a dry laugh, Nicholas lets his head fall back against the cool metal of the stall divider. Should have expected something like that.
Nicholas: sounds rly fun
Seiji: Does it?
Nicholas: no 😏
Seiji: You’re trying to distract me.
Nicholas: is it working
Seiji: No, I’m highly engrossed in the spreadsheet. ‘
