Notes:

My first narration of my own work! This drabble fic jumped out of my brain after watching Genesis and absolutely losing my mind over the concept that while Starfleet does allow their officers to have pets aboard starships, for some unhinged reason they DO NOT require that they be fixed??? Then being sent down the deep end by it being suggested that they are there to deal with the Enterprise's mouse infestation.

UPDATE: I have started watching DS9 and LET THE RECORD SHOW that I wrote this BEFORE watching the episode where the station has an infestation of Cardassian Voles. All I'm saying is... they shoulda called me.

bonus content: when I was telling a friend about this he asked "would they be indoor/outdoor cats?" and before he could clarify by saying "Like would there just be shots of a cat randomly walking through a corridor?" my brain had already run away with imagining cats in little cat space suits and mag boots running around the hull of the Enterprise.
