Summary
The warning came too late. There was no time to duck out of the way of the wooden beam that hit the bard square in the chest, knocking him backwards. Resigned to a few broken ribs and being knocked on his ass, Jaskier cried out first in pain, then in fear as the back of his legs hit the railing of the ship. There was a distinctive feeling of the world being flipped upside its head, the very ocean below him being turned on its axel before the feeling of falling truly hit him.
He was falling, splinters digging into his skin as his flailing hands hit the wooden side of the ship. There was a choked scream ringing in the air, throat burning with the effort. Down, down, dark blue rushing up to meet him.
