Summary:

Danny becomes the King of Ghosts, but that wasn't his goal. (He achieves his goal as well don't worry.)

Chapter Text

Danny doesn’t remember much of the ceremony.

Danny remembers every little bit of the ceremony.

These two things can coexist.

In the future, when asked, he will be able to give an in depth description of every moment of the nerve wracking ceremony where he became the King of Ghosts. But right now, less than an hour afterwards, he can’t.

But he can tell you how surprised some of his siblings were when they found out the Dami and Jon are dating just before the event because Dami had brought Jon as his date. He can tell you how bright Naos had smiled at him when the ceremony had finished. He could tell you how hard Dick had hugged him the moment he was able to. He could tell you about how much Jazz looks like she was always meant to be part of the Wayne family, even if she doesn’t have the signature looks.

He could tell you about how happy he was that his mother, the one who taught him how to fight, and the one who had rushed him to the Lazarus Pits against his Grandfather’s wishes, was there.

He could tell you about the after party. Where his parents had an hour long fight that had everyone on the edge of their seats. (Talia loves the culture around fighting.) Where Lunch Lady and Alfred spent hours swapping recipes. (Family dinners will never be better.) Where Tucker finally got to meet his siblings. (The Tim, Tucker, Ember trio wasn’t something Danny thought he’d have to be worried about.) Where he was surrounded by all the people he loves both alive and dead. ( ‘Maybe I really can be both.’ )

Dying had hurt. But he couldn’t be happier than he had.

Notes:

I've loved writing this. This is the first fic I've ever finished and the first one I've ever posted to AO3. Seeing your reactions while I wrote this never failed to bring a smile to my face and I'm so glad I was confident enough to share this with you.

Thank You and Good Night
