Day 7 (cont.)
Okay, now that the problem with the Orb of Power has been taken care of, I have the time and energy to focus on other things before I go on to the next area.
I remember that Merlin wanted to study the flora from the Plaza and the Meadow so that we could gain some more insight from the Night Thorns. I've asked Merlin what he needed for the study, and he told me that he needs:
- 4 Dandelions
- 4 White Daisies
- 6 Apples
- 6 Bananas
I'll go gather up all of this and meet up with Merlin.
Okay, so I've brought the flowers and fruit to Merlin, and he used it all to make a temporary enchantment for my watering can so that I could take care of the large clusters of pink and purple mushrooms that had grown near the entrance to the Glade of Trust. The enchantment worked great; the mushrooms withered away almost instantly. Now that Merlin knows that the enchantment works, he can now work on making it permanent.
Now that I've finished my experiment with Merlin, I think I'll take a look around Dazzle Beach and see what this place has to offer now that the Pillar is fixed.
Okay, I've looked around for a bit and...there's not much here. Apart from a wrecked ship, a skull-shaped rock, and some fruit trees and bushes, there's not much to do around here. I've found a broken oar, but I don't know what to do with it. I also found some more Journal Scraps, so I'll paste them on here too.
I like to stand on the Beach and look to the horizon and wonder about what new friends may be sailing towards me while I wait.
Sometimes I look out over the ocean and think about traveling beyond the Valley. I could find a whole new world.
I've learned a new language... extremely easy to learn and you can express complicated ideas so quickly. I'm going to use it to keep my journal.
Ursula moved to the Beach. Merlin is concerned, but I think it's a good thing. As the old saying goes: Keep your friends close, and your dangerous Sea Witch associates in nearby caves where you can watch them.
I fell asleep under a tree. When I woke up, I couldn't move. Purple vines had grown around and over me. Their thorns cut me, but they could not cut me as painfully as loneliness, so I pulled myself free.
The last one is...concerning, to say the least. It seems like the old Ruler was going through something. Maybe something had happened in their personal life that made them leave the Valley? Well, wherever they are, I hope that they've found peace...
Hang on, Maui wants to talk to me.
Maui just told me that the place needs more flora, so he wanted to grow some coconuts around Dazzle Beach. He boasted to me that he can grow an entire coconut tree just by burying an eel into the ground. I honestly don't believe him, but if doing this means that we have more food for the Valley, then it's fine by me. I'll ask Goofy if he knows how to fish up an eel...
Alright, so Goofy has taught me how to make a fishing trap out of some softwood, and I've dug up some worms from around the ponds in the Meadow. Now all I have to do is wait for the eel to come.
Okay, I've fished up the eel. Now Maui tells me that I need to bury it into the sand in order for the coconut tree to grow. Let's hope this actually works...
Now that I've 'planted' the eel, all that's left to do is wait for it to grow. While that's doing its thing, I think I'm going to go and gather some gemstones for Aqua's core. Since her old one is too cracked to fix, I'm going to have to make her an entirely new one. For that, I'll need some regular-sized aquamarines and about one or two shiny ones. And I already have more than enough Night Shards for the casing. But I'll have to go hunting for Dream Shards again to give it power. Time to go gathering again...
I've mined up enough gems and got a lot of dream shards from the Night Thorns. I'll go back to where I've buried the eel and check if anything's happened.
Miraculously, just like Maui said, the eel has grown into a coconut tree! I gave the coconut that grew from it to Maui, and he told me that from now on, coconut trees will grow naturally on Dazzle Beach. Great!
Now that that's been taken care of, I'm going to go back to the house and see what I can do to fix Aqua.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, I've crafted a new core for Aqua and put it where the old one used to be. Once I did that, I fixed the crack with some extra stone that I had. Now all there's left to do is wait for her to reactivate...
It's been 10 minutes, and she hasn't activated yet. Maybe it just takes longer?
30 minutes have passed now. Still nothing...
It's been an hour, and she still hasn't activated. Forget it, I'm just going to do something else.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Went out to Peaceful Meadow, where I ran into Ursula. Now that she's out of the cave, she needs a place to live. I've set up a foundation for her home in Dazzle Beach, near the shore. I've talked to Scrooge, and he told me that it's going to take 8,000 Star Coins for the entire thing to be built. I only have about 2,000, though. Time to go miming again...
Okay. I've mined at all the rock spots in the Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, and Dazzle Beach. I got a lot of regular gems and a good number of shiny ones. I'll sell the shiny ones, put away the regular ones, and then get Ursula's house built.
Was putting away the gems when I found a huge glass window. I'm going to put it up in the Study.
Alright, the gemstones have been sold, and the house has finally been built! Ursula's grateful for the new house, but now she wants me to go into people's homes and grab her some paper so that she'll be able to write up contracts. If she just needs paper, I guess I can get it for her. Mickey, Goofy should have some extra paper lying around in their homes. And I can probably find some at the library too. I'll go and grab some.
Gathered all the paper and gave it to Ursula. Now she needs a Magical Scroll and Ink Kit so she can write out her contracts. Since the Kit needs magic for it to work, I'll need Dream Shards. Ursula also told me that to make the ink, I'll need to rush up some flowers and put them into a glass vial. She said that she wanted purple ink, so the Purple Falling Penstemons and Purple Rising Penstemons should do the job. I'll make glass by heating up the sand from Dazzle Beach, and I'll use the glass to make a vial for the ink. Guess I'll get to work...
Made the kit and gave it over to Ursula. She was happy that she could finally make contracts now. She's given me some fish as thanks and then swam off to do her own thing. Now that Ursula's been taken care of, I'm going to ask Goofy about the raft. He seems to know a lot about sailing.
Asked Goofy about the raft. He didn't know how the raft got there, but he did hear a woman singing somewhere far off in the distance. So, there might be another Villager somewhere! He gave me a list of what I needed for a repair kit for the raft.
I'm going to need:
- 30 Hardwood
- 7 Rope
- 25 Clay
- 10 Iron Ingots
I can craft rope by using fibers from the seaweed I fish up, but I can only get hardwood and iron from the Forest of Valor, and the clay from the Glade of Trust. I'll have to wait a while before I can work on the raft, then.
It's getting late. I'll go see if I could activate Aqua and then head to bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was supposed to go to bed after checking on Aquamarine. But then I decided to go to the library to see if I could find any more information on how to fix her. I ended up reading several of Merlin's books and taking notes, looking for answers. By the time I left, it was nearly midnight. I quickly entered the house and walked into the Study, seeing Aquamarine's stone body still lying on my desk, with the light of the full moon shining through the celestial window I had installed earlier today. I walked towards the desk and looked down at her, sighing with frustration.
"What am I doing wrong?", I ask her, knowing that she won't respond. "What is it going to take for you to wake up?" Her stone face stared blankly up at me.
I run a hand through my hair. "Guess I'll go get some coffee...", I say as I leave to go to the kitchen. "Looks like it's going to be a long night..."
I was making some instant coffee in the kitchen when I heard a sudden thud come from the study.
"What the-?"
I turn off the stove and walk back into the study, where I find that...she's awake.
I found Aquamarine standing up, looking out the window. watching the full moon. Her hair sparkled as the moonlight shined down on her, making it look like she had the night sky in her hair.
I walk towards her slowly, not wanting to startle her.
"Umm...hello?", I ask her. "Are you okay?"
"Hm?", she hummed as she turned towards me, tilting her head to the side. At least, I think she was turning towards me. With the mask covering her eyes, it's hard to tell what exactly she's looking at.
"Oh! Are you the one who fished me out of the cave?" she asked. "Looks like I was down there for a while."
"Y... yeah, that was me", I stuttered, stunned. "How'd you know?"
"Ahh..." she paused, then spoke again. "Let's just say it was...a lucky guess."
"Right, well..." I trailed off, not knowing what to say. "I don't have a room for you yet, but you are welcome to-"
I stopped mid-sentence as she slowly walked closer to me and then stopped when she was an inch away from my face.
"Hey..." she murmured, a hint of worry in her voice. "You... you look really tired."
"Yeah..." I stammered. "I've been, um, kind of occupied... spent all day and night trying to, you know, fix you..."
"Still, you have to be exhausted by now.", she said, lifting her mask from her face and revealing her closed eyes. She slowly opened them, showing a glowing bright blue color. "You should go to sleep."
With that, she opened her eyes completely, causing them to glow an even brighter shade of blue. And that was the last thing I remember.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I opened my arms to catch her as she suddenly fell forward, my magic being the cause of making her fall asleep. As I wrapped my arms around her exhausted body, I could feel her breathing as she slept. Sighing softly, I ran my hands through her long hair. She used to have long, flowing black hair reaching all the way to the middle of her back. Now, it was shorter, cut to her shoulders in a wavy bob. Her once sleek black hair was now streaked in white. It's been so long...but that was a problem for later.
"I'm so glad you're here...", I murmured.
"Welcome back, Boss."
