Chapter Text

The footsteps of two excited teens were heard as they ran through the clearing. One female and one male. The female w had  short chin-length black hair with two small pigtails, straight bangs, and two dyed green highlights framing her face. The back of her hair spikes out at the bottom. Her hair's silhouette resembled that of a dragon. She has pink lipstick and her eyes were green. She wore a jacket that was teal green and light green. She also wore white pants. She looked back at her friend and smiled. "Come on MK! We don't wanna keep them waiting!" she said before turning and running.  The male panted as he tried to keep up with his more energized friend.  He had spikey  black hair that's kept up by a red bandana. He had not so thick but not to thin eyebrows. He wore a orange jacket featuring a jovial monkey visage on the back, complemented by red pockets and a diminutive cloud on the left. He a white shirt underneath and red trousers, with hi-top black sneakers. The shirt has a black and red target emblem on the front.

He let out a tired groan as he stopped. "Mei! I'm not as fast you. Even though we both are the most energized." he said before taking in a deep breathe. Mei stopped and smiled. "But I'm so close to beating Aaron!" she told him as he caught up. She turned and smiled proudly. "And we're so close!" "To the tower or.." Mk asked looking beside her. "Both!" she said looking at him. She jumped off the log she was on and ran onward. "Come on! We're close!" she said. MK followed her as they walked. "Wish it was more closer. We wouldn't have to run most of the time." MK complained. "Well they want to keep things secret!" Mei smiled. She looked at him. "Besides, you'll see your favorite inventor!" she teased elbowing him a little. MK smiled and let out a small laugh. "That's because she's the only inventor I know." MK reminded her. "Only more of a reason for her to be your favorite!" She joked looking away. The two laughed until a shadow loomed over them.

They stopped. Infront of them was a large big castle, with grey rocks pasted together. Cannons were on the sides of it. Flags of red, blue, green, silver, and black waved as they each had an animal or creature on them. In the center was a steel gate. Mk looked at it in awe while Mei smiled. Even though he and Mei have come to this place many times, it was still an amazing sight. "Here we are!" Mei yelled in excitement. 

"The castles of the Ninja Knights!"

Mk couldn't help but feel both in awe and nervous. He had been to castle many times and every time he came he came out defeated. "Hopefully this time is different." he thought to himself. "Hey! You two!" He was snapped out of his thoughts by a familiar voice. He looked up to a male with  messy auburn hair with with a small patch on his chin. He wore green training gear and his eyes were green. "What business do you two have with the awesome Nexo Ninjas Knights!?" he yelled from the battlement. "Aaron! It's us! Mei and Mk!" Mei called up to him. Aaron let out a small laugh. "I know Mei! I'll open the gate." He told you as he walked away. A moment later, the gate rose. Mei's eyes lit up in anticipation and excitement while Mk looked on in nervous and worried.

When the gate fully opened, Mei ran in while Mk just walked in. The castle was grand with multiple banners of different colors adorning the walls. Though that wasn't the only thing as elements of Ice, water, earth and Energy also had their own banners. Multiple doors led to multiple rooms. Mei looked around smiling as she ran around the place. Mk was just looking around the place. He looked at all the elemental banners until he noticed one missing. "Where's fire?" he thought. He always found it weird that one of the most common elements were not here. "Come to think of it..the only red thing is related to Macy and Nya...and isn't Nya's element-" "Yip!" MK yelped as he was suddenly in a hug and lifted off the ground.

"There's my best apprentice!" Mk's worry and fright left as he recognized the voice all too familiar. He smiled as joy filled him. "Nya!" he said in excitement. He gave into the hug as he was put down. He turned to see a female with short black hair and dressed in a red shirt and brown pants. "How's my favorite apprentice doing?" she asked him as she ruffled his hair. Mk let out a laugh as he said "I'm your only apprentice Nya!" "Oh only more of a reason for you to be my favorite!" Nya added smiling. Mk could only smile as he fixed his hair. Mk had become her apprentice as they shared a love for making stuff and inventing stuff. It all started when he saw her working on some sort of mech. Ever since then he wanted to make stuff with her.

"I see they have Arrived." They all turned to see the rest of the Ninja Knights. Jay, Cole, Lloyd, Zane, Macy, Aaron, Lance, Axel, and Clay. The knights wore training gear while the ninjas wore normal ninja gear. The gear and ninja gear all matched their colors. "Have you come for training?" Clay asked. "You bet! I'm gonna beat Aaron today!" Mei said pumping a fist. Aaron let out a laugh. "We'll see Meimei!" He said. "And who is Mk gonna train today?" Jay asked looking over to Mk. He flinched. "Umm..I'm gonna-" "He's gonna train with Clay!" Mei cut in. Mk flinched. Clay was surprised. "Really?" he asked. "Yep! He's been training for awhile!" Mei explained happily. "Yeah...Haha." He let out a nervous laugh. Clay stared at him before shrugging. "Alright." Clay said.  Mk was taken aback. "What? Mk asked confused. "I wanna see what you can do." Clay told him. "Oh." Was all Mk could say. 

He wasn't expecting that. "Well then. Let's get to training." Clay said before turning to the training room. Everyone followed him, with Mei turning and giving MK and Smile and  thumbs up. Mk could only smile nervously. "Hey." He looked to see Nya smiling at him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "You got this. Don't worry." She assured him. Mk smiled at her.  "Thanks." was all he could say. The two then headed for the training room.

Chapter Text

Everyone was in the training room, watching Mei and Aaron prepare to fight.  Mei swung around a green  short blade smiling. "Alright Mei! Time to show me what you got?" Aaron asked holding his crossbow. "Yeah! Just don't cheat with your little hover shield." Mei said as she twirled her blade. Aaron had a look of false hurt. "Mei! I'm hurt! I would never cheat!" he said in mock hurt. "She's right though. No using your shield or hover board." Clay said as he stood between them. "Now you guys know the rules." He told them. He walked into the crowd. "And, go!" Clay yelled. Mei immediately ran toward Aaron, blade to her side.

Aaron stood his ground and fired, aiming at her feet. She jumped and swung down at him, Blade shining. Aaron yelped as he jumped out of the way. The blade hit the ground, causing some sparks. Aaron quickly turned and shot at her. She quickly used her blade to deflect. She ran around, smiling as she did. Mk watched as Aaron shot her only to be either deflected or dodged. "Mei's got everything covered. She knows what to do." he thought. He looked as Clay who was watching the fight. "I hope I know what I'm doing." "Come on Aaron! Your suppose to hit your target!" MK looked back at the fight as Mei was running around him. "I do! I just usually do it with my shield!" Aaron told her as he tried to shot. Mei ran toward him, Blade out. Aaron smiled. "Oh you just made this easy for me!" He said before firing. She quickly ducked and kicked Aaron in the legs. Aaron yelped as he was struck off balance. 

Seeing her shot, she headbutted him the chest, causing him to fall. He felt the wind get knocked out of him, making him drop his Crossbow. Mei smiled as she made Aaron stay down. "Yeah! I won!" She said proudly. The knights and ninjas clapped. Aaron slowly got up. "Okay. I gotta admit, that was clever." Aaron admitted as he stood up. "Yeah. And I beat you!" Mei said smiling. "Hey! You only did that because I didn't have my shield." He then smiled. "Still. Good game." he said. "You too!" Mei said as they shook hands. "Great. Now we can see Mk fight Clay!" Jay said. Mk flinched and gulped. He got up and picked up his weapon. A yellow staff with a curved long tip. He walked to the center just as Clay did. He looked at Nya who smiled and gave him a reassuring nod. He took in a breathe before letting it out and looking at Clay. 

"Ready?" Clay asked him holding his sword by the hilt. Mk was silent before saying "I'm ready." "Alright. Fight!" Clay said. Mk made a running start, holding up his staff. He brung it down only for Clay to block with his sword, creating Sparks. Mk quickly brung it up before hitting his side. Clay once again blocked. Mk tried his left side. Blocked. He swung again only to be blocked before Clay pushed him back. Mk staggered back. " I need an opening." he thought only to narrowly miss being hit by the sword. "Focus." Clay reminded before swinging at him. Mk dodged as he went to the Clay's side. He swung down only for Clay to block him there. Mk stepped back. "He keeps blocking me!" That's when an idea hit him. "Keeps blocking me." Mk smiled. He then ran to Clay's side. Blocked. To the other side. Blocked. He kept running around him. Blocking, and Blocking. 

" Come on! I thought you trained!" Jay yelled only to be elbowed in the side by Cole. Clay kept blocking him. Mk smiled. He quickly stopped and thrusted the the staff toward Clay. Clay stepped back in shock, not expecting the sudden and up close attack. Seeing his opening, Mk quickly struck at his side. Clay however grabbed it, stopping the attack. "What?!" Mk yelled in shock. Clay swiped at his hand, making him release it. Clay pointed at Mk. "You did good. But you need more practice." Clay told him. "Practice?! I practiced all week!" Mk yelled in shock. "Well you need more." Clay told him. "Still good game." Clay said before walking away. MK looked away in frustration. "Yeah. Good Game." he mumbled.

Chapter Text

Mk laid in his bed. He and Mei were given rooms whenever he or she stayed over. It was decorated in all his stuff. Thought it didn't make him happy at the moment. " 'You should practice more.' I've been practicing all week. And it's still not enough?!" Mk grumbled. "How much more does he want?!" he yelled before burying his face in his bed. A knock on the door alerted him, making him look up. It was Nya. "Hey." she said as she came in. "Hey." Mk replied dejected.  "You did good out there." Nya told him sitting next to him. "Not good enough apparently." Mk grumbled. "You know how Clay is. Always wanting to be prepared and everyone being ready." She reminded him. "Yeah. I know." Mk turned onto his back. "I just wish that he would let be have one strike." He told her. "Hey, You were able to almost land a hit on him. And you were bale to make him stumble." She reminded him. 

"I mean I was able to do that." He mumbled. "See!" She exclaimed smiling. "You'll be able to beat someone sooner or later!" Mk looked away downcast. "I'd rather it be sooner than later." he mumbled. "It's just that I've been losing since I got here and I want one win. One!' He said swiftly sitting up. Before slowly falling onto his back. Nya looked at him, wanting to help. That was when an idea came to her. "You know." She said smiling. "I know some moves. I can teach you a thing or two." Mk immediately shot up. "You do?!" he said excited. "Yep. I learned it.." She paused before saying "...From someone." Mk was surprised and Smiled. "Teach me! Teach me!" He begged. Nya smiled at seeing him smile and happy again.

"Tell you what, I'll teach you a few things. After we work on the mech." She smiled. Mk started to hop in place. "Sure, sure!" He agreed nodding. "I knew you would cheer up." Nya said getting up. The two left the room, heading toward the inventors room. It was where Mk and Nya would work on inventions. "You know. Your yellow staff reminds me of someone." She told him. "Really?" Mk asked looking to her. "Yeah. And they were a great fighter. Just like how you will be." She said smiling. "And a good inventor?" Mk asked. "Yes. A fighter and Inventor." Nya told him. "Both?" Mk asked. "Both" Nya said.

Chapter Text

Mk loved to make stuff. That's why he and Nya were so close. They both loved to make stuff and invent stuff. And they were making a mech. A lion mech. "You think I'll be able to ride this thing?" Mk asked Nya as he polished the head. "Oh I'm sure." Nya said smiling. "After all you made it." She reminded as she tightened the eyes. "I'm sure that Aaron will have a blast riding this thing." Mk said as he made sure no Wires were tangled. "And Macy won't be the only one with the mech." Nya said searching through her tools. She frowned at not being able to have what she needed. "Hey Mk can you get me more of my tools? Their on the third shelf." She said looking over to him. "On it!" Mk said before falling off the Mech. He groaned as he got up. "I'm okay." he assured her as he stood up. He walked over to the shelves. The box of tools were the third shelf. A bit taller than him. "Okay MK. You got this." He thought to himself. He jumped up but missed. He jumped again but missed. He breathed in and bended his legs. 

He jumped up and grabbed the box. "Yes! Success!" He yelled happily. He heard a noise above him and looked up. A picture frame leaned forward and fell. He yelped and quickly grabbed it. He let out a sigh of relief. He turned it and looked at it. It was a picture of a younger looking Nya with her hair in a ponytail. But next to her was someone he didn't know. It was a guy the same height as her. He had shortish spiky brown hair and wore red ninja attire. He has amber eyes. He was smiling with Nya. "Huh. Who's  this?" he mumbled in confusion. "You okay Mk?" Nya asked walking over to him. "Yeah. I just caught this photo." Mk said showing her the photo. Nya looked at it and Smiled. "Oh that's me and my brother Kai!" She said. Mk looked at the picture. "Kai huh?" he asked. He stared at the smiling Kai. He didn't know why..but something felt familiar. Maybe it was the hair or the same looking eyes? 

"He looks alittle like me." Mk said. "Huh. Maybe it's because of your similar looks." Nya said smiling. "Yeah." He looked at her. "Where is he? I don't see him around the castle." He asked. Nya's smile turned into a frown and looked away. He eyes seemed distant, As if looking into the past. "It's.. not important." She said taking the photo from him. Mk looked at her confused. "Why?" he asked. She stopped. It was silent for awhile. "It's...a touchy some subject. That's all." She said before walking away. Mk could only stare as she walked away. He then looked away. "Kai..." He thought.  

Chapter Text

"Kai." That was all he could think of it. That picture...that person... it was familiar. Something about it was familiar. He had been thinking about it ever since he saw it. "Kid?" Mk was snapped out of his thoughts by Pigsy. "Hm?" He mused looking over to him. "You've been staring into space for awhile. You okay?" Pigsy asked with Tang sitting next to Mk. Mk looked at him before looking away. "Pigsy... you ever had that feeling where you see someone and felt like you had seen them before?" he asked. Pigsy was caught offguard by the question. "Hm?!" He looked away and stared at the table. "I mean..I had it once but I never really felt like it meant anything." Pigsy told him before looking to him again. "Why you ask?" He asked him. Mk was silent before saying "Well..When I was at the castle, I found this picture frame in the inventor's room. It was a picture of a younger Nya..." He paused before saying "..and her brother Kai."

Tang and Pigsy were caught offguard. "She had a brother?" Tang asked confused. The two knew of the Ninja knights and Mk and Nya's relationship. "Why didn't she tell anyone?" Pigsy asked tilting his head alittle. Mk was silent as he looked away awkwardly. "It's a touchy subject to her." he said. "Oh." Pigsy and Tang said in unison. The three were silent before Mk spoke again. "Well...her brother and I...I...I noticed somethings between us. Similar things." Pigsy stiffened while Tang was curious. "Same hair...same eyes..." Mk listed. "What are you implying kid?" Pigsy asked, hesitance in his voice. Mk was silent again. Then he smiled. He looked at Pigsy and Tang, joy sparkling in his eyes. "I think Kai might be my father."

Both Tang and Pigsy were caught offguard, Tang almost falling off his chair. "Um! A-are you sure!?" Pigsy asked quickly. "I-I mean..it could be on big coincidence?" Pigsy said to him. Mk's smile faltered alittle. "I..I know." he confirmed. "But.. it's something!" he shouted. "It's something. It may tell me who my..parents are!" Mk said to Pigsy. Tang smiled while Pigsy was nervous. "Well I think it's nice that you are trying to find your parents. You have my support." Tang assured him. Mk smiled at him. "Thanks Mr Tang!" he said. Pigsy put on a false smile, hiding his nervousness. "Y-Yeah. I'm glad that your finding your roots..kid." Pigsy said to him. Mk smiled at him too. "Thanks Pigsy." he thanked.

He jumped off his chair. "I'll find out more about Kai tomorrow. See ya in the morning." he said before running up the stairs to his room. Pigsy finally let go of his smile as he let out a sigh. Tang noticed and was concerned. "Are you okay Pigsy?" he asked. "I.." He turned to Tang. "I just don't want him to get hurt." He told him before turning his body to face him. "I mean..what if this Kai guy isn't his Dad and it's just one big coincidence?" he aske him. Tang frowned. "Pigsy.." "A-And! Maybe this guy is a horrible Dad! He left his son infront of my store in a basket!" he yelled angerly. "Pigsy-" "And what if-" "Pigsy!" He stopped when Tang yelled. Tang glared at him before sighing and looking at him. "I know your concerned. Especially since your his guardian." he told him. 

Tang paused before saying "But you need to let him find out." He motioned to the stairs. "He wants to know and he might finally get the answer he wanted for so long. To know where he comes from." He put a hand on Pigsy's hand. "Let him find out." Pigsy stared at him before looking away. "Fine." he said. He glared.

"But this Kai better have a good reason why he left his kid." 

Chapter Text

Mk knew who to go to the next day he came to the castle. If he knew someone who knew alot, it was Zane. Next to Tang, Zane would be the one he would go to for advice or information. "And he's close to Nya and the other ninjas. So he must know who Kai is." he thought happily.  And he knew where to go.  He went up the stairs to where Zane's room. He walked down the hall until he stopped. He peered into Zane's room. It was mostly full of tech but it had a few other things to. Zane was sitting at his desk, facing away from Mk and seems to be fiddling with his arm. "Zane?" Mk called, unsure whether to talk to him right now. "Ah Mk. What do you wish to learn about?" Zane asked not even facing Mk. Mk stepped in the door way. "What do you know about Kai?" he asked.

Zane flinched and the sound of metal clanging onto the table was heard, making MK flinch. Zane quickly turned to face him, shock on his face. "Where did you hear that name?!" he asked almost yelling. Mk felt nervous. He'd never seen Zane like this before. "Um.. I found a picture frame featuring Nya and Kai in the inventor ro-" Mk didn't feature as Zane dragged him into the room and closed the door. Mk yelped as Zane put him infront of him. Zane sighed before looking into Mk's eyes. "Look, I'll tell you one thing. No one talks about Kai around here." He paused before saying "Not anymore at least." Mk was confused at this. "What? Why?" he asked tilting his head. "He...He.." He took in a breathe before saying "He did something bad."

Mk was taken aback and shocked. "What?! What did he do?!" he yelled. "We don't talk about it. Especially among the ninjas." Zane explained.  "But what did Kai even do?!" Mk said wanting to know what his dad did. "Believe me. You don't want to know." Zane assured him. "Bu-" "Mk please. You don't need to know." He took his hands off his shoulders. "It's better that you just forget that Kai..." He stopped before saying "Just forget about Kai." He walked by him. "Now please leave. I need to work on myself." he said sitting down. Mk stared before glaring and leaving the room. 

"Well that was a bust." he mumbled as he walked away. "What did my Dad even do?!" he thought. "There's gotta be someone who knows about Kai." That's when a thought struck him. "Nya!" he cried out smiling. "Of course! She's his sister! She knows everything!" He thought smiling. He ran off to the inventor's room. 

Chapter Text

Mk rushed down to the inventor's room, almost bumping into the others. When he reached it, he was tired and out of breathe. Nya was with Ava, another young inventor who was into machines. "Nyaaa." Mk rasped out of breathe.  Nya was shocked by his sudden arrival. "Mk? What wrong?" she asked walking over to him. "I.. ne...ta.." He wheezed. Ava walked over to him with a glass of water and gave it to him. Mk took it and drank all of the water. He inhaled a breathe and exhaled. "Thanks." He said giving Ava the class which she took. He looked over to Nya. "I need to talk to you about your brother." he said clearly. Both Ava and Nya flinched. Ava looked at Nya who gave a nervous laugh and smile. "Um..maybe later Mk." She said. But Mk was determined. "I need to know Nya! And your the person who know your brother the most." He said determined. Nya's smiled faltered. She went over to him and ushered out of the the room.

"Look. I know your curious ever since yesterday. But you need to kno-" "Not to talk about Kai because he did something bad." Mk cut in. Nya was caught offguard. "Zane told me this." He explained. "But I need to know what the bad thing is! I need to!" he pleaded to her. Nya stared at him before sighing. "Look. I'll tell you on thing but only one." she told him strenly. Mk just nodded. "It's something." he thought. "You know the old master who trained me and the ninjas?" she asked. Mk was confused. "Master Wu?" he asked. He heard the ninjas said his name here and their but never really "talked" about it. Nya nodded. "Yes. Why?" he asked her. She was silent before saying "He was involved..with what happened to Kai..in the past." She told him. She turned around. "And that's all I'm gonna say." Mk was confused. 

"Thats..it?" he asked. "Yes..That's all." she said before walking into the inventor's room. Mk didn't know what to think. He had something but it was small. "And I'm sure the others won't tell me anything given Nya's and Zane responses." he thought. He let out a sigh. "I just want to know." he mumbled.

Chapter Text

"..And I now I know only the smallest of things!" Mk said to Mei as they laid on the grass of a hill. He had been telling her about his suspicion of Kai being his dad. "So you think that this Kai guy is your dad based on some stuff?" he questioned. "I know. It's a stretch." he admitted. He laid onto his back. "But it's something. Something that might help me find my parents." He paused before saying "And myself." He mumbled. "I get it." Mei said. "But why now?" she asked.  "I don't know." he said shrugging. "It's just..when I saw his face..I felt something." Mei was intrigued.  "Something?" she asked. "Like I've see him before." Mk clarified. "Isn't that just Deja Vu or something?" she asked him. "Maybe?" His face became determined. 

"But I know I have something to do with Kai and I'll find out!" he said determined. "Do what you want." Mei said shrugging.  She looked at him smiling. "But you'll always be MK to me." She said. Mk smiled back. He turned onto his side, hiding a sad frown.

He laid in bed staring at the ceiling. "I don't just want to be 'just mk'" he thought. He looked over to his window.  The night blue sky was twinkling with stars. He sat up and went over to the window. He opened the window and looked up at the sky. Stars twinkled and shone. He looked at the plain that was not far from here. He quickly sneaked out of the window and ran onto the plain. The plain. With it's green grass. He looked up at the stars. Many stars twinkled on the night sky. 

Chapter Text

He couldn't focus. How could he? He was thinking about many things.  How was he gonna find his dad? Why is everyone so secret about him? What did he do?  "And how I am gonna even find him." he thought. "Mk!" he flinched and looked at Clay. He was spacing out. "Did you hear what I said?" He asked. "Um...Yes?" He smiled nervously.  Clay rose an eyebrow at him. He held the smile before falling and saying "No." Clay sighed before pointing to the board behind him. "I was saying that we may have future missions so I want all of us to be prepared." He pointed to MK and Mei. "And that includes you two." Mk felt dread. "Great. Not like I suck anymore than I do now." he thought. Clay went on to explain more things though Mk's mind started to wander again.

"What's on your mind?" Aaron asked as he hovered next to Mk. They has just left the meeting and Aaron noticed Mk staring into space. "What do you mean?" Mk asked looking at him. "I mean I know Clay's meeting are boring and I tend to zone out, but you were zoning out alot. And you almost never zoned out during the meetings." He pointed out. "Oh." Mk mumbled. "Is something worrying you?" Axel asked as they walked. "If I told you guys, you would just tell me not to talk about it." Mk told them. "After all, two of Ninja Knights already told me not to talk about Kai." "What makes you say that?" Aaron asked confused. "Because I-" "Maybe because you know it's right." Mk came to a stop and turned to see Lance.

"Oh don't start this again Lance." Aaron groaned turning to him. "What? We all know it's true." He said shrugging. "Only because you think that." Axel asked. "Besides! You know how uncomfortable Mk is about it!" Aaron reminded. "Well we all know it's true! Mk would be better off as an Inventor instead of a fighter. He's already Nya's apprentice, why not just-" Lance didn't finish as Aaron rammed into him with his hover shield. "Ow." he groaned. "We told you not to talk about it!" Aaron yelled annoyed. "Yeah! Mk's sensitive about it! Right Mk?" Axel looked only to see that Mk was gone.

Mk was slashing and stabbing through training dummies with staff, anger coursing through him. "I'm a fighter! Not another inventor!" he yelled as he stabbed through another dummy, stuffing coming out.  "I'm a warrior!" *Slash* A dummy slashes in half fell onto the floor. "I'm a fighter!" *Rip* A dummy ripped open landed on it's back.  He was about to turn on the virtual training when he heard something open the training room door. He quickly turned to face whoever entered, raising his staff. Nya had her hands raised with a shocked look on her face. "Oh. Nya." He said lowering his staff. She looked at the mess around the training room.

"Wow. What's got you so..slashy?" she asked. Mk sighed as he turned away. "Lance..couldn't keep his mouth shut." he growled. "Oh." Nya said knowingly. She knew about it. She heard so many say that Mk's skills were better suited to be a mechanic or inventor instead of a fighter. While she did enjoy Mk's presence and the things they made, she wanted Mk to do his own thing. And if he wants to be a fighter, than let it be a fighter. Though that wouldn't stop the others from keep saying it in the past. But now they don't bring it up alot. "I'm sorry." she said walking up to him. He sighed again.

"I just want to prove to them that I can fight." He looked at her. "Don't get me wrong, I love working with you and all but I wanna do things my-" "Your own way. I understand." she told him. "And I'm tired that everyone wants be to be an inventor or mechanic." he said grinding his teeth. "I know." Nya said comfortingly. She started to clean up the destroyed dolls, Mk putting his weapon down and helping him. "And I know I have to train more but no matter what I keep.." He trailed off.  Nya looked at him. "Maybe you need more.." She paused before saying "Flare." He looked at her confused. "Flare?" he asked. "Yeah! Put more strength and energy into your moves and attacks." she explained as she dumped the ruins training dummies into the trash. 

"More flare.." he mumbled as he too dumped the ruined training dummies into the trash. "I'll try it." he looked at her. "I need it more flare anyway."  He thought. "That's the spirit." she said ruffling his hair smiling. Mk also smiled. "Now, how about we learn a few more ways of fighting." she said smiling wider. Mk's eyes widened, lit up with excitement. "Really?" he asked smiling wider. "Yeah. Just don't get distracted by my awesomeness." she said smiling as she went over to the weapons.

Mk was slashing a sharp stick through the air. "Okay. Slash uppercut!" he said before slashing up. He slashed down and made a slash in the dirt. He smiled. "Okay. Making process." he said smiling. He moved quickly and made 4 more slashes in the dirt. "Okay..making progress.." he said smiling. He started to slash and hack at the ground, making swift hacks. He smiled. "Okay..making progress." he mumbled. "What ya m-" "Ah!" he turned and pointed the stick. Mei was looking at him shocked. "Oh sorry." He said putting the stick down. Mei looked at the slashes. "Why are you attacking the ground?" she asked him. "Oh! Nya taught me some moves." he told her looking at the slashes he made. "She  taught you how to slash the ground?" she asked. "What no! She was showing me more attacks." he told her. "Oh! I didn't know she could fight." she said surprised. 

Mk was a little annoyed. "You know she's also a fighter." he told her. "I know. She was a fighter! And...you know-" "Yeah Lance." Mk mumbled. "Oh. So you-" "Yep! He said it infront of me." Mk grumbled.  "Hey." She put a hand on his shoulder. "Don't listen to Lance. All he does is laze around and show off his richness. But you will be a great Nexo Ninja! Like me!" She brug him into a hug, making him smile as the sunset.

The Mountains. They were bother neither far or close to the city. But Mk was still able to see them. It was raining and he couldn't go training but it was nice to take a break. And to look at the mountains. He didn't know why but the mountains were so nice. "It just feels..so nice. Like they have something I wanted for so long." He thought as he looked out the window. "Whatcha looking at Kid?" Pigsy asked as he entered the room. "The mountains." Mk said as he just watched the mountains.  Pigsy looked at the Mountains. While the rain was making the window wet, the mountains can still be seen. "You ever wanna live there?" Mk asked.

Pigsy thought about it.  "I don't know. They look pretty and I'm sure they are nice." Pigsy said. "Yeah. They are pretty." Mk agreed smiling.  "But I don't think I can sell noodles up there. Not really a business to start up there." Pigsy told him. "Yeah." Mk said laying his head in his shoulders.  Though he still wanted to go there. The mountains just seem so nice. Especially with mist. They just seem to have something. Whether it was their size, the places they hold, something about the mountains were good. And he wanted to know. He wanted to go there one day. To see what was there.  To see what they held. "Well don't let the mountains invade your mind." Pigsy said as he left the room.

Mk just nodded as he watched the mountains. He wanted to know. What did the mountains hold?

"Your gonna be fighting Lance tomorrow." Mei told him. She with him helping with his rounds. "Oh great.."he grumbled. "I know. I would be upset too." she told him  "No. It's just that I know he'll just tell me to not be a fighter and become a inventor." Mk clarified. "Oh. Well just remember the moves Nya taught you and you'll be fine." She said smiling. "Thanks." he said smiling. The two were silent as they drove around the busy city. Mk however had a question. And he needed to say it. "Hey Mei." he asked. "Yeah?" she said looking at him. "What would you do..if I left?" Mei was taken aback. "W-what?" she asked. "I mean... if I find my Dad, I might have to leave the city. Especially with how the nexo Ninja knights talk about him...or lack of talk." He said.

She was silent. She never thought of something like that happening before. Why would it? It never happened before and wouldn't happen...would it? "Huh. I never thought of it before." she confessed. "Well. It might happen." he told her.  "Yeah..But it hasn't happened." she said smiling weakly. She didn't want to think about it. She and him were best friends for so long. They were close. And the thought of Mk leaving and never coming back..She couldn't think about it. "So what would you do?" he asked. She didn't answer but she needed to give him some sort of answer. "Well...I would find a way to send you letters and gifts." she said smiling at him.

"I would do the same." he said smiling.  Mei let out a small laugh. "Nice to know we would still be able to do our things even apart." she said smiling. The two smiled as they continued MK's rounds. But both of them didn't feel right. Mei didn't know what she would do if her best friend suddenly left. And Mk didn't know what will happen to Mei when he's gone. Neither of them wanted to think about it and stopped thinking about.

Chapter Text

Mk watched as Mei dodged Jay's attacks. He was up next and he was fighting against Lance. "And knowing him.." he thought. He shook his head. "Point is, I need to prove to him and the others that I'm a fighter." he reminded himself. Jay tried to wrap Mei's arm with his nunchucks only for her to use her sword and snatch it out of his hands. "And Mei is the winner!" Aaron said smiling. Mei let out a cheer while Jay pouted alittle. "Oh come on! She used her sword!" he said. "And she used it to defend herself and disarm you." Clay told him as he approached. He turned to the others. "Now it's Mk and Lance's turn." He told them. Mk gulped as he stood up with his weapon. He walked to the battlefield. He looked at Nya who smiled and gave him a thumbs up. He smiled and nodded and looked at Lance. "Just saying, it's best if you just give up now." he said smiling. "No. I'm gonna prove that I'm a fighter." Mk said putting on a battle stance. Lance shrugged. "Your lose." he said. Clay stepped back and went to the others. "Ready.." he started. "Your gonna get hurt." Lance said. "Set.." "We'll see." Mk said glaring. 

"Go!" 

Lance and Mk ran at eachother. Lance went after Mk's sides only for Mk to step out of the way. Mk swung his staff only for Lance to block it. "Now!" Mk thought. He kicked Lance's fit, making him stumble. Seeing his chance, he swung at Lance. Lance however blocked it. "Nice try Mechanic." he said smiling. Mk growled as he swung his staff and went for the side. Lance however saw this and block it, making sparks fly. "Come on MK!" Mei yelled. "Yeah! Show him what you can do." Jay yelled. Mk smiled as he dodged another strike and blocked it with his staff. He ran to his side and charged at it. Lance blocked him and pushed him back. 

"Come on! I thought you were prove it to me." Lance said. Mk growled as he charged at him. He lifted up his staff and brung it down. Lance blocked him. Mk saw some of his chest exposed. He smiled. "You want proof. I'll show you proof!" He lifted his staff and made Lance unstable. He ran and kicked him in the chest. Lance gasped as he stumbled back. Mk ran to his side and dashed into him. Lance yelped as he used his lance to stop himself from falling. "Okay. You got the skill." Lance groaned and got up. He looked at Mk. "But don't get cocky." He said. He then dashed at him and swung to his side. Mk quickly blocked only for Lance to kick him in the knees. Mk yelped and he fell back. Lance brung down his lance down only for Mk to block him. "Think Think!" Mk mumbled. 

He saw Lance's legs were exposed. Mk kicked him in the legs, causing him to shake. Mk quickly got up and forced Lance back. He ran to his back and swung at him, only for Lance to stop him. The two started to struggling through Lance started to push him down.  "Come on Kid! Just face it! Your not built to be a fighter! Just give up! You'd be better as a mechanic!" Lance yelled. Mk snarled. He was tired of that. He was a fighter. He was always meant to be a fighter. He was gonna be a fighter. He is a fighter! And he prove to him and the others!

"I'm..."

His palms started to glow, making the staff glow and heat alittle.

"am..."

He looked up at Lance, anger in his eyes. 

"..A fighter!"

*FOOM!*

Fire escaped Mk's mouth as he yelled, pushing Lance off him. Lance yelped as he fell on his back. Mk quickly shut his mouth as the fire dissipated, covering his mouth with his hands..  Everything was silent. Lance and the other nexo knight ninjas looked at him in shock while Mei looked at him in awe. Mk looked at the ground in shock. He took his hands off his mouth.

"Did I do that?"

"...and then 'Foom!' he suddenly started to breathe fire and it was so cool!" Mei finished explaining to Pigsy and Tang, her eyes shimmering. Mk looked away embarrassed. "So the kid breathed fire?" Pigsy asked tilting his head in confusion. "Yeah! And it was so cool!" Mei said smiling. "Come one it was just...sudden. I don't even know how it happened." Mk told them. "Well...can you show us?" Pigsy asked. Mk looked at him shocked. "You..want to see?" he asked. "Yeah. Why not?" Pigsy said. "Yeah! Show them what you can do!" Mei said smiling. "I wouldn't mind seeing that." Tang said smiling. MK looked at the three before sighing. "Fine." he said

They stood out in the plains, far from the city. "Okay Mk! Show them what you got!" Mei said smiling. "Okay." Mk said breathing in and stepping back. He took in and let out a yell. "Ahhhhh!!!" No fire came out. Everyone stood in silence. Mk looked at himself. "Umm...was the fire suppose to come out or.." Tang questioned. Mk took in another breathe and stood back before yelling again. "Ahhhh!" No Fire. Mk stood there in shock.  "I guess it was lucky timing." Pigsy said shrugging.  Mk looked at himself in confusion. "What the heck happened?" he questioned. "Maybe it has something to do with emotion?" Tang asked.

He looked at Mk. "I mean..what were you feeling?" he asked. "I was..angry." Mk told him looking away. "Angry? Why?' Pigsy asked. "Lance was saying how he shouldn't be a fighter and should just be a mechanic." Mei told him. Mk could remember what he said.  "Come on Kid! Just face it! Your not built to be a fighter! Just give up! You'd be better as a mechanic!"  The memory made Mk growl. "Even thought I want to be a fighter." he snarled.  "Yeah. But he keeps saying over and over that Mk shouldn't be a fighter." Mei went on. Mk started to feel the anger come back. His hands glowed alittle and his eyes had a fire in them. "Even though I'm a warrior!" he yelled again.

*Foom*

Fire blasted out of Mk's mouth. Pigsy and Tang yelped as they jumped back while Mei looked on in amazement. Mk stopped, the fire stopping. He looked on in shock. "It happened again." he thought.  Pigsy and Tang were in shock. "See! I told you!" Mei said happliy. "Huh. I guess he can breathe fire." Pigys said amazed. "Yes. But how?" Tang asked. "That's... a very good question." Mk said.

Chapter Text

"I can't believe you have fire powers!" Mei yelled excitedly as they walked in field. "I mean, Imagine all the things we can do!" she said looking over to him. MK however had a look of unsure. "I don't Mei..I mean..I can barley control my powers." he said worry in his voice. "Oh Come on MK! Just don't get angry and you'll be fine." she said waving her hand dismissively. "No it not that!" MK said shaking his head  alittle. He was silent before saying "It's that I want to use them in others ways besides...yelling." He stopped. looking at his hands.  "I wanna shoot fire out of my hands and.." He looked down at his feet "...maybe even my feet."

"I'm sure someone in the Nexo Ninjas can teach ya." Mei assured him. "Who? Jay is water, Cole is earth and ghost, Zane is ice, Lloyd is energy and Chi and Nya.." He paused. "Well..Nya always used machines so i don't really know what her element is." He said. "Does she even have an element?" he thought.  "Well..." Mei try to find the words to say.  "...I'm sure you'll learn yourself!" She finally said smiling. Mk sighed before smiling at her. "Thanks Mei." he said. "No Problem body." she said before she started walking again. MK followed though his smile became a frown.

Mk returned to the field that night, sneaking away from Pigsy. He looked at his hands. "Okay MK. You can do it." he said to himself. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breathe, focusing on his hands. He opened his eyes and threw a punch, opening his fist in the process. No fire came out. He stared at his hand. He turned and kicked, his leg straight. No fire. "Come on." He urged as he punched the air. No fire surrounded his fist. He made a few punches. No fire. "Come on!" he said yelling alittle. He made two kicks but no fire.

He started to punch and kick but no fire surrounded him. His frustration started to grow. He quickly stopped. He was panting and sweating alittle. "AAAAAAH!" 

*Foom!* 

Fire came from his mouth. This just made him more frustrated. "Come on!" *Foom!* "What am I doing wrong?!" *Foom!*  "Why can I use it?!" *Foom!* "Graaaaaaaaahh!"  *FOOOM!*  Mk was panting as he was out of breathe, the grass around him scorched and charred. He let out small coughs, smoking coming out.  He let out a tired "Ey." before landing on his back. He stared at the stars above. "What am I doing wrong?"

MK was walking through the streets, the sun shining onto him. He however didn't feel happy.  "Last night was a bust. I couldn't do anything except breathe fire out my mouth and caught up smoke." he thought to himself. He looked at his hand. "Couldn't even make it go through my hands." he added grimly. "How am I gonna use it to help others when I can't even control it?" he mumbled to himself. He felt the ground move beneath him, catching him offguard. "What the?" he mumbled. He was suddenly grabbed by the hoodie and dropped in a vehicle. He looked to see he was with Clay in his vehicle  Rumble blade. "Um..Clay-" "Hey MK!" He looked to see Mei riding with Macy in her vehicle Thunder mace. He looked around to see the other nexo ninjas riding in their vehicles with Nya riding with Jay. "Ready to use those fire powers for out first ever mission?" Mei asked him excited.  

This caught him offguard. "Wait mission?!" he screeched turning to her. "That's right MK!" Clay told him, MK turning to him.  "Hope your ready for your first mission." Clay said. MK didn't know what to say of feel. His first mission. His first mission with his heroes and best friend. He looked at his hand. "Even if I can't control my powers...I can still help the team." He thought to himself. He put on a determined face. "Yeah. I'm ready!" he said determinedly. "Good! Nexo Ninjas go!" Clay yelled. The team drove off.

The team arrived at a wrecked tower, the side of it crumpling. "A monster attacked earlier! The tower is gonna collapse!" Ava told through the vehicle's as they stopped. "Aw man! I wanted to do some monster fighting!" Cole whined as he got out of Axel's vehicle. "What we can do no is save the innocents still inside!" Clay said as he exited with MK following. "Macy, Lance! Jay! Cole! Go and help the people! Me, MK, Lloyd, Axl and Nya will hold up the tower so it won't collapse! Everyone else help the others!" Clay commanded. Everyone nodded and went inside the deteriorating building. MK held a few boards up as Axl and the others held up the building, letting the others guide people out of the building. MK could feel the weight as he held it up. 

"NO! Be a hero and keep it up!" he yelled at himself internally. He felt rocks and small debris go down on his body. His legs was buckling and he tried his best to stand up. He put all his strength into keeping the place up. He looked at Axl and the others keeping the place up. Axl was doing better due to his strength and size. He saw parts of the building fall apart, everything slowly crumbling. "We can't keep this place up longer!" Mk yelled as more debris and rocks fell on him. "We have to keep it up until everyone's out!" Clay said though he staggered to keep up.  MK knew that they weren't doing good either.  "Clay! Everyone's out!" Mei yelled. "Alright! Everyone go!" Clay ordered. Clay, Lloyd, Nya, Axl and MK left where they were standing. The place was crashing around them.  MK was lagging behind alittle. "Wait up guys! I'm-" 

*Crash!*

Something hard hit MK's head, knocking him out on the spot. Everything went black.

Chapter Text

Pain. That's all he felt. Pain prodded him in his head. He let out a groan. "Hey...you okay?" A warm male voice called to him. But it didn't sound like Clay, Jay, Lloyd, or anyone he knew. He opened his eyes but it was all blurry. He tried to stand on his elbows but felt someone usher him down. "Please. Don't move. Rest. You need it." it said almost pleading alittle. Mk obeyed as he laid on his side, falling back into the inky blackness.

He didn't know how long it was when he awoke. The pain was still there but didn't prod him as much. He groaned as he opened his eyes. This time things were more clearer. He found himself in a very large room. It seemed to be a living area of some sort. Though everything was dusty or seemed to be covered by sheets. "W-what am I?" he tried to sit up only to land back on his side, causing a small groan from him. He felt something soft underneath him. "I wouldn't move if I were you." It was the voice he heard before. But this time it was more firm. MK looked but couldn't see him. "W..why?" he groaned. "Because you were almost buried alive and hit hard in the head by a blank of wood." MK remembered it. The mission, the building going down, being hit in the head, he remembered it all. "Wait..the team!" he remembered. "I have to get back to the team!" he yelled trying to sit up.

His arms quivered and he landed on his stomach. "I told ya. Your body is still recovering." the voice said, almost scolding him in a way. "I need to get back to the team! They need me!" Mk told him as he got on his elbows. Pain went through him, though he tried to ignore it. "You need a better team then. They just left you to be buried." MK paused, the voice behind him. He was thinking of what the voice said. "They..they needed to help others." "And that's their excuse for leaving you? Yeah. I don't believe that." MK discomfort at that thought. He shook his head and helped himself up. Pain hit him but he pushed through, sitting up. "They were doing their job! They needed help! I was helping people out! Like they were!" MK reasoned. He stumbled as he got on his knees.

"Trust me Kid. Your so called 'team'  would just drop you the moment you screw up. Or when they don't want you. MK gritted his teeth. He was starting to get tired of this voice. It was like when Clay would point out any mistake he made.  "And how would you know this?"  he asked sharply turning the voice. A few meters away was a tall man wearing red ninja attire. His mouth was covered by a mask thing. He had amber eyes and shortish spiky hair. He held a long sharp golden sword. "Because they were my team. And they dropped me." he told him. MK couldn't believe what he was seeing. It was like he was seeing the picture all over again. But this time more clearer. His eyes sparkled and shined. It was like he thought. Same eyes, same hair, and if he was correct...

"Hey..you wouldn't..happen to use fire would you?" he asked curiously. While he didn't show it, the stranger smiled under his mask. "Kid my whole thing is fire." he answered, his voice sounding proud. MK's heart fluttered alittle and his eyes shined. He got off the soft thing, stumbling alittle as he got onto his feet. The stranger looked at him confused and worried. "Um..kid? You okay?" the stranger asked. "Your Kai aren't you?" MK asked his voice full of awe. The stranger flinched. "How do you know my name?" he asked. "Because I work for your sister Nya. I'm MK." He smiled at him. 

"And I think your my dad!" 

Kai stumbled back in shock. "Excuse me what?" he said in shock. MK walked toward him, stars in his eyes. "I can't believe it! I found you! I finally found you!" he cheered looking at him up and down. "H-hey! Wait a minute!" "Oh! I can't wait to learn more about you!" MK said darting around him. "Kid-" "What can you do? Do you live here? Do you like noodles?" "Kid-" "Do you know how to fight? Can you breathe fire to?" "Kid-" "Who's my mom? Are you also a nexo ninja? What powers do you-" "MK!" Kai grabbed him by the hoodie. Kai stared at him before taking a deep breathe and letting him go. "I know your excited and all that..but I think your confused." he said calmly. MK's sparkle left him and he looked at Kai, tilting his head.

"What do you mean?" he asked. Kai sighed as he looked outside. "Let's talk outside." he said walked by him. The two walked out see a mountain view. MK's sparkle and awe returned to him. "Woah." he mumbled in awe. Kai smiled. "Yep. Nothing beats a mountain view." he said smiling. He turned to him, his smile leaving. "But like I was saying, I'm sure your just confused." Kai said. "Confused? You and I look the same. Same eyes, same hair." Mk pointed out, motioning to his eyes and hair. "Their are alot of people who share the same hair, eyes, and other traits." Kai explained. "But...I'm training to be a nexo ninja. You were one were you?" Mk questioned. Kai was silent, having a distant look in his eyes. 

"I was..a ninja." he said, some sorrow in his voice.  MK looked at him confused. "What do you mean were?" he asked. Kai was silent. "You should go." he said turning and walked back in. MK stared at him. "I have fire powers!" Kai stopped. He slowly turned his head, his small. "What did you say?" he asked his voice full of shock. Mk knew he had his attention. "I am able to breathe fire. I wanna try to use other fire abilities. You said your thing was fire. If you really are my father..I would have gotten them from you. You can teach me to fight better and control my powers better." He said almost pleading. Kai stared at him, his eyes distant.  "Please Kai." Mk pleaded. Kai approached him and stared him in the eye. 

"Sorry about this kid." MK was confused until he felt something hit his neck. He was knocked out as he fell unconscious.

Mk groaned as he opened his eyes. He slowly sat up and looked around. He was in his room in the castle. "When did I get here?" he mumbled to himself. The last thing he remembered was...Kai. "I was with Kai." he mumbled. He could remember everything. "MK?!" He flinched from the sudden voice. He looked behind him to see a shocked Mei staring at him in the doorway.

MK didn't get to say anything as Mei ran over and put him in a bear hug. "OmgMkyourherei'msogladyouhere!" she said as she held onto him tight like he would just disappear into thin air. "Nice to..see you too..Mei." he gasped.  She put him down, smiling at him. "You have no idea how worried I was! You just disappeared and we couldn't find you!" she exclaimed. "I guess they didn't see Kai's fire." Mk thought to himself. "I mean I knew you were okay!" Mei quickly said. "You didn't see anything?" he asked tilting his head. "Nope. Could only see rumble and destroyed stuff." she said shrugging. "Huh." he said. "Why you ask?" she asked tilting her head. "No reason." he said waving her off.  "Oh yeah! The others need to see you!" Mei said. Before he can say anything she grabbed him by the arm and dragged him out of his room.

"Guys! MK is back!" she yelled as they appeared in the main room. He looked to see the shocked faces of the Nexo Ninjas staring at him. He nervously smiled and said "Hey Guys." There was silence in the room. Mk gulped, feeling uncomfortable with the silence. He opened his mouth to speak only for Aaron to run up and hug him. "MK! Your okay!" he said happily. "Yeah. I am." Mk said as he was put down. "You scared us back there." Jay said to him. "Yeah we thought you were dead or something." Cole added. "Thankfully that didn't happen and we can relax." Clay said a little firmly.  There words of agreement around the room. Mk let out an internal sigh of relief. "Looks like Kai was wrong." he thought to himself. But that relief was short lived. He didn't screw up, he was knocked out by rubble. 

"Which means there's still the chance of me going to screw up...and they might." He shook his head. "No they wouldn't!" Kai's words rang in his head. "Trust me Kid. Your so called 'team'  would just drop you the moment you screw up. Or when they don't want you."  "What if he's right? What if they will just drop me if I'm not good enough? That's why they dropped Kai right? Because he messed up?"  He felt dread building up in his stomach. "What if they do drop me? I mean I got knocked out on the first mission! I needed to be saved by someone and I was easily knocked out! How can I be useful to the team if I can't even handle being knocked out? Twice!" Worry was going through his body. "I need to be better for the t-" "Mk?"

He looked to see Jay, having a concerned look. "Can I talk to you?" he asked motioning him over to a different room. Mk tilted his head before following him. They entered the room where they went to relax. Jay closed the door. "What do you want to talk about?" Mk asked. Jay sighed before turning to him. "Look, I'm just telling you this because you deserve to know about this." Jay informed him. "Okay?" Mk said wondering what he was gonna say. "So you know that day when you almost burned off Lance's face?" he asked. Mk knew what he was talking about. The day he discovered his fire powers. "Yeah." he said nodding. "Well..when you and Mei left.."

Jay was walking through the halls, his mind racing. "How did MK get those fire powers!? He never had them before!" he thought to himself. He only knew one person who had fire powers and he hasn't seen him in a while. "Nya doesn't even have powers so how di-" "You can't be serious!" He stopped at Nya's voice. He stopped at a nearby slightly open door. He slowly walked up and looked inside. Clay and Nya seen in the room. Nya was glaring at him. "He just discovered them and doesn't know how to use them! He's harmless!" Nya said to him. "Are they talking about MK?" Jay thought.  "That doesn't mean he won't hurt someone with them. You saw what he almost did to Lance." Clay reminded her. 

"Lance was taunting him and the fire just came out!" Nya told him "You and I both saw that." "I still don't want him using his powers."

"...And that was when I walked away." Jay finished. MK couldn't believe what he heard. "Clay doesn't want me to use my powers?" he thought to himself. "I thought you had the right to know what they talked about." Jay said before leaving the room. MK didn't move nor did he speak. Clay didn't want him to use his powers. Powers that can help the team and everyone else. He looked at his hands. "Is it because I couldn't control them? That I don't know how to use them?" He turned his hands into a fist. "Well if that's the case, I'll do my best to control them and prove myself."

Chapter Text

Every night Mk went back to the fields, trying his best to summon his fire power but the only time it was used was when he was angry. Every night was a failure. Tonight was no different. Mk was rapidly punching the air, trying to make the fire come out. But nothing came out. He let out a frustrated "Ahhhhhh!" *Foom!* Fire came of mouth before he stopped. "This is ridiculous! I've been trying to use these powers but I can only ever use it when I'm angry!" he yelled as he looked at his hands. "What am I doing wrong?" he asked. 

"Maybe you need alittle help."

He jumped at the sudden voice. He looked to see Kai sitting on a nearby rock. "How did y-" "I'm a Ninja. I'm used to sneaking up on people." he said. "Oh." was all Mk said. He shook his head before glaring at him. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "I've actually been watching you for awhile now." Kai said getting up. "That..is very creepy." Mk admitted. "I mean I've been watching you practice." Kai explained approaching him. "Well as you can see I suck." Mk mumbled looking away. "Yeah you do." Kai said. "But you have potential." Kai said smiling at him. MK looked up to him. "I do?" he asked.

"Yeah. And I saw your little fire breathe." Kai said. He let out his flame breathe, letting it light up the sky. Mk watched it in awe, his eyes sparkling with adoration. The fire went away turning into small embers before vanishing. Mk inhaled and let out a breathe but nothing came out. He gasped as his air went out. "Yeah. You need help with your fire power." Kai said watching him. "So you do believe me." Mk said looking at him. Kai looked away saying "Yeah. After seeing your fire breathe multiple times, I believe you." "You do you be-" "It can still be a coincidence though." Kai cut in.  "But until we found out the actual truth, I have a offer." Kai said

"An offer?" Mk asked. "Yeah. You want to get better right? How about i train you?" Mk felt his heart leap at this. "Training from my dad!?" he thought happily. He has trained with the other ninjas and knights before but this felt special. He would finally learn how to fight better and use his powers. "I can help the team better and spend some time with dad." he thought happily.  "So you gonna take my offer or-" "Yes! I want to help be better in anyway! Anything to help the nexo ninjas!" MK said happily. Kai frowned a little at the mention of them. "This is to help you too you know." he told him. "Oh I know!" he said nodding. "Then it's settled. Meet me here when you can." Kai said before turning to walk away.  "Don't let me down."

The next night  Mk snuck out when Pigsy was asleep, running toward the field. He stopped and panted looking around. "Okay Kai! I'm here." he called. He heard footsteps crunching against the ground. He looked to see Kai coming from the right. "Right on time." he said smiling. "Of course! I would never be late to my first lesson." Mk said standing proud. "Good. Now lets go." Kai said approaching him. Mk tilted his head in confusion. "Where are we going?" he asked. Kai placed a hand on his shoulder. "To the training area." Fire surrounded them but didn't hurt the, turning into a spiral. Mk watched in awe at the oranges flames. Kai just smiled at him. Soon the flames dissipated and they were in a large earthy area. 

It seemed to be in same mountain area that Mk woke up in. Mk looked around in shock. "H-how did-" "Teleporting flames. Very useful for getting around places." Kai answered proudly. Mk looked at him in awe. "Can I do that?" he asked looking at his hands.  "With time you will. But let's focus on physical attacks first." Kai said. Mk got excited. "Great what are we doing?" Mk asked his eyes sparkling.  Kai stood there with his arms open. "Attack me." Mk had to retake that.  "What?" he asked. "You heard me. Attack me." Kai repeated. Mk stared at him. "I just met by dad and he wants me to attack him?" he thought. "Are you sur-" "I'm giving you permission."  Kai said to him. Mk stared at him. "Okay then." he said unsure.  He ran at him with raised fist. He punched but hit nothing.  

He stopped in his tracks and stared at the spot where Kai was. "What the-" "Ops my bad." He turned to see Kai behind him. "I didn't stand still. Don't worry I will stay still this time." he said nodding. Mk was silent before going for another punch. Again he felt nothing. He looked at the space in shock. "Sorry, sorry." He looked to see Kai behind him. "Don't worry. I'll stay still." He assured him. Mk stared at him, unsure if he was telling the truth. Mk swung back his fist before sending it forward, only for Kai to swiftly move his head away. Mk went for another punch but Kai dodged again. He tried to punched again only for him to dodge. "Stand still!" Mk yelled as he tried to punch him only for him to keep dodging. He tried to kick him but hit nothing. Mk let out a frustrated yell as he aimed a punched at Kai's head.  Kai swiftly grabbed his hand before flipping him onto his back. 

Mk yelped as his back hit dirt. "Hey!" he said getting up and sending a kick at Kai's direction only for him to dodge and chopped down. MK dodged and went for his side only to be grabbed by the hoodie and thrown back onto the ground. He looked up to see Kai raise his foot. He yelped and rolled out of the way right as Kai's set his foot down. He saw and opening and tackled him in the side, bringing him down. Kai however used his legs and threw him, tumbling him onto the ground.  "Good enough start." Kai said getting up.  "Now try to dodge." Kai said. "What?" Mk asked before swiftly dodging Kai's fist. Mk dodged a kick that was aimed at his chest. Mk kept dodging blows that nearly hit him. Kai was fast and Mk knew that. He barley had time to rest before trying to dodge the attacks Kai sprung.

Mk felt himself backing away. "Think MK! Your suppose to be a fighter! Fight!" he thought to himself. He saw Kai about to chop. He yelped and dodged to the side, Kai swinging down. Seeing an exposed arm, he quickly opened his mouth and bit down. He felt fabric in his mouth and his teeth in Kai's arm. He looked up, expecting Kai to be in pain or in anger, but Kai looked more stunned then anything. He stared at Mk who stared back at him. After awhile of awkward silence Mk finally let go, wiping away any saliva left behind. "Impressive. You saw an opening and took it." he said wiping his arm. "I didn't hurt you?" Mk asked worried. "I've been through worse. I'll be fine." Kai assured him smiling. "Well that will be all for tonight." Kai said. He placed his hand on Mk's shoulder, the fire spirals going around them. They were back in the fields again.

"I expect to see you after tomorrow." Kai told him. Mk nodded and turned to leave. "Oh and Kid." He stopped and looked at him. "Don't tell anyone about these things. No one needs to know about me." Kai told him. Mk was confused. He didn't know why Kai didn't want others to know. Then again, the nexo ninjas don't even like the mention of his name. MK just nodded and went back home. Kai turned away and walked away.

Chapter Text

The next night, Mk arrived back in the same spot. Kai was also there. "Back here again?" Kai said smiling. "Yeah. I'm always ready." Mk said his eyes lighting up.  "Good." Kai said. He placed his hand on his shoulder. The spiral of flames returned and they were once again in the training area. "Wait here." Kai said as he walked away. Mk tilted his head, wondering what Kai was doing. He stood there and looked around, inhaling the fresh mountain air.  He smiled as he looked at the rest of the mountain area. He finally gets to see the mountains. He can see what they were. "Beautiful." he breathed. "Kid." He turned and saw a wooden staff flying toward him. He yelped and quickly grabbed onto it. "Nice catch." Kai said as he walked towards him with a wooden Sword. 

"We'll be working on your weapon handling." Kai told him. "Oh come on! I know how to handle a staff." Mk said proudly as he twirled it around. "Really?" Kai said. "Yeah-" Mk looked only to quickly block Kai's wooden sword from hitting him. Kai raised it and went for his side only for Mk to block it. He kept swinging and Mk kept blocking, their wooden weapons making loud *thonks!* as they did. Kai suddenly withdrew and thrusted forward. Mk yelped and ducked. Kai grabbed him by the staff and flung him to the ground.  "You have to be on guard for that. Enemies will take the chance and use your weapon against you." Kai explained to him.  "The other would never do that." Kai said as he got up. Kai let out a "tch" before saying "They don't know anything about fighting real monsters." he growled, Venom in his voice. 

Mk tilted his head. "What do you mean?" he asked before swinging down as him. Kai used his sword to block it and forced him back. "They only ever fought monsters from a book." Kai said as he thrusted forward at him. Mk dodged and swung down to his legs. Kai was taken aback by the swing, staggering back. "Good hit." Kai said smiling. "Thanks." Mk said smiling before narrowingly avoiding getting hit when Kai swiped his sword down. Mk swung his staff at Kai's head only for him to dodge and sweep him, making him fall. "Hey!" Mk whined as he got up. "What? Gotta attack when you can and dodge when you can." Kai said as he swiped down. Mk yelped as he jumped back and tried hit him the staff. Kai dodged and grabbed his staff. 

Mk was suddenly thrown to the side and his grip was gone. He tumbled onto the ground, groaning. "Let me tell you something Mk." Kai said as he approached him. "Enemies will do whatever they can to attack you. They don't care about any code, rules, or morals. They won't follow them. They will whatever it takes to take you down..." he loomed over Mk as he got up. "..or kill you." he said, his tone firm. He threw the staff down to him. "They will take whatever chance they get to attack you." He went on. "So always be alert or take them offg-" Mk tackled Kai, making them both stumble onto the ground. 

Kai lost grip of his sword as they tumbled to the ground. Mk was atop Kai as he pinned him down. "Ha! Didn't expect that did yaahh!" Mk was thrown off and onto the ground. Kai got up and went for his sword. Mk saw this and ran at him, tackling him in the side. Kai laid on his stomach and Mk stood upon them. "Not again!" Mk said. "Good try." Kai said before threw Mk off him. "Always gotta make sure the arms are bound." Kai said smiling at him. He grabbed the sword and turned on him. "Good try though." he said smiling at him. Mk sighed. Kai offered him a hand, smiling down at him.  Mk grabbed it and using all his strength to pull him down.

Kai let out a gasped yelp as he was brought down. Mk let out a laugh. Kai just smiled and rolled his eyes before he let out a laugh himself. Both of them started laughing.

Chapter Text

Mk quickly dodged Mei's blades as she tried to attack him. He dodged again when she stabbed forward before leg sweeping her. She yelped as she fell down to the ground, using his staff to move the weapon away. Mk looked at the other Nexo Ninjas. "Wow. You learn fast." Aaron said smiling. "Yeah you..seemed to have improved alot." Clay commented. He smiled as he helped Mei up. "Yeah! Your doing good." Mei said smiling at him. "Where did you learn this from?" Mei asked curiously. "Oh..I learned it myself." Mk said smiling. "Cool! You need to teach me that." Mei said eyes shining. Mk and Mei moved out to let Clay and Macy fight. Mk let out a sigh. "Too close." he thought.

"...and that's what I told Mei." Mk said to Kai. Kai was staring back at him. "You need to come up with better excuses when you use your moves." Kai said to him. "I know." Mk said. He turned to him. "So what are we doing tonight?" he asked. "We are gonna learn how to deal with fire." Kai said. Mk was silent. "As in..my fire?" he asked. "Yeah." Kai said. "But my fire only comes out of my mouth! And that's when I'm angry." he said. "Well that's what we're gonna do today. Learn how to summon fire without anger." He said as he summoned a flame in his hand. "But..how?" Mk asked tilting his head.

"You focus." Kai said. "Focus?" Mk asked. "Yes. Close your eyes." he said. Mk stared at him. "Trust me. Close your eyes." Kai instructed. Kai stared at him before closing his eyes. "Imagine the fire at the core. It's at the center of you." Kai explained. "Now imagine the core spreading across your body. It's going through your body, into your arms, legs, throughout your body." Mk took in a breathe. "Now slowly move your hand forward. Just focus on your hand." Mk followed and extended his hand. "Open your palm." He did. "Now imagine the fire in your hand. It's going through your arm and into your palm." Mk imagined it. The fire going through him. Into his palm.

He felt a sudden warmth. He opened his eyes to a small flame in his hand, glowing in the dark. He stared at it in awe, his eyes sparkling. He looked up to see Kai smiling at him. He felt his own smile tug at his lips and the fire got brighter. "Good. Now try to get rid of it." he instructed. Mk nodded. He looked at his hand and closed it. The fire immediately went away. "Good job. You learned how to summon fire with your hand." Kai said. "Now trying firing it." he said. Mk nodded. He open his palm and the fire was reignited. "Think of it as the fire coming out of your hand." Kai said

Mk nodded and focus on his palm. The fire started to grow. He turned his palm to the ground and focused on firing it out of palm. *Foom!*  The fire blasted out of his palm, scorching the ground. He quickly closed his palm, looking on in shock. He felt excitement go through his body. *Foom!* Fire came out of his foot sending him to the ground. *Foom!* Fire came out of his mouth. *Foom!* His hair was set ablaze before it returned to normal. Mk laid there on the ground, Kai staring down at him. "Well. That's a start." he said.

Chapter Text

A few days has passed  since Mk trained with Kai. His fire powers had gotten better. Now he and Mei was on another mission with the nexo ninjas, fighting against Monstrox. He was using to staff to fling and attack monsters, with Mei using her blades. "Feels good to finally fight ain't it?" Mei asked as she stabbed a fire imp. "Yeah. It does." Mk said as he flung a fire ball monster away. But he knew they were getting overwhelmed. They have been fighting for hours. "How much long till Merlock does his thing?" Mk asked as he dodged. "It might take awhile" Clay yelled as he struck a monster back. Mk looked around him, everyone fighting. They couldn't go on further. He needed to do something. He inhaled. 

"Oi! Monstrox!" He yelled. Jestro and Monstrox turned to him. "Oh look! It's the puny one." Monstrox laughed. All the monsters focused on him. "Aw..whatcha gonna do? Use that stick of yours? Ha!" Jestro laughed. Mk inhaled. "Focus." he remained himself. It was a big chance but he had to take it. He inhaled. He could feel warmth all around him. His hair became yellow tinted. "Um..is that normal?" Jestro asked. He opened his eyes. Mk opened his mouth. "Breathe."

Foom!

An inferno escaped his mouth, covering both monsters and villains. Screams were heard has they were blasted into the air. Mk exhaled, the fire going out. The monsters were gone so were jestro and Monstrox. Mk turned back. Everyone stared at him in shock while Mei has a smile. Stars in her eyes. 

Chapter Text

"What were you thinking!?" Clay yelled. They were back in base. "I saved the day." Mk remembered. "Yeah! He used his fire powers to blast them away." Mei said to him. "He still could have gotten so many people in danger! He could've burned stuff down." Clay refuted to her. "What difference does it make? He saved the day!" She countered back. "Because-" "Because my element is similar to Kai?" He stopped and looked at him, shock on his face. "How did..Who told-" "What was so bad? What did Kai even do?" Mk questioned getting off the chair he was on. Everyone was silent.

"He has a right to know." Nya finally spoke out. "Nya-" "No. She's right. He deserves to know." Jay said to him. "He...he does have the same element as him. He should hear what happened." Lloyd added. Murmurs of agreement were heard all around. "Yeah! I should hear this too." Mei added. Clay stared at all of them before sighing. "Fine." Clay said sighing. "Fine. You'll hear what happened." He said looking at Mk. "It was after a mission.  We just survived a building.."

Clay and others coughed as the hit the dust away. "Where did Kai go?" Jay asked looking around. "I saw him when the building fell. He could be hurt..or worse." Zane said dread in his voice. "Master Wu was with him! He could be hurt too!" Jay said worried. "I'm sure both of them are fi-" There was a creak. Everyone looked to see A red figure running off in the distance. "Kai?" Nya said. "Where's Wu?" Lloyd said looking around. "He didn't did he?" Jay said worry in voice. Everyone ran off to where Kai came from. There in the rubble laid Master Wu, surrounded in Blood.

"And that's why we don't talk about Kai." Clay said. Mk stood there in silence, not knowing how to react. This wasn't possible. His dad would never do that! Would he? No! Of course he wouldn't! He would never abandon anyone!

Chapter Text

Something was different with Mk, Pigsy could tell.  Mk stopped talking and has been silent for awhile. Pigsy needed to talk to him and someone needed to return to him to his normal self. "Kid..what happened?" he asked looking at him. Mk said nothing, just stared into space. He sighed. Of course he wouldn't get an answer. He's been silent all day. "Listen Kid, you don't have to tell me what happened. But you can't be quiet all the time. You need to tell me what's wrong." He said. Mk was silent. Pigsy sighed and went to leave. "Pigsy?" He stopped and looked at him. "Yeah kid?" he said.

"What do you do..when you something about your favorite person..and you hear a bad thing?" Mk asked turning to him. Pigsy was silent.  Out of all the things he expected him to say, that was not one of them. Pigsy looked away. "Well...what i do is that I go and ask the person myself." He said awkwardly. Mk stared at him before nodding. He stood up and had a determined look. "Then I'm gonna get my answer." He said. He stood up and went up to his room, leaving a confuse Pigsy.

He ran out into the field, stopping in the usual meeting place. "Kai! I need you!" he yelled out. "Calm down Kid." He turned to see Kai walking behind him. "Kai. Take me to the mountain. I need to talk to you." Mk said sternly. Kai was taken aback by this. He hasn't seen Mk like this in awhile. Kai was silent before placing his hand on his shoulder. He transported them to the mountain. "Okay. We're here. What to-" "Is it true that you left Master Wu?" There was silent. Kai stared at him before his face turned into an angered snarl. "Did they tell you?" he growled his voice full of anger.

Mk was taken aback by the sudden change, feeling a small amount of fear in his body. "Y-Yes." he said almost stammering. Kai let out angered snarl as he started to pace. "Of course. Of course they told you the version they saw. No one ever questions what they say or do because their suddenly the new law makers!" he snarled waving his hands around. His hair let out sparks every now and then. "No one ever wants to know my side of the story!" he yelled letting his hair turn to flames for a moment. Kai let out ragged breathes as he tried to calm down. "Well..I wanna hear your side." Mk said.

Kai looked at him. "Really?" he asked. "Yeah. I deserve to hear all of it from the main source." he said. Kai looked at him. "Fine. And..if you want to leave after this and hate me, that's fine." he mumbled. Mk tilted his head. "It all started during a mission, Pythor and his troops attacked the city..."

Kai was motioning people out of the building, Wu doing his best to keep the building from falling. "Okay that's everyone one! We need to get out!" Kai said turning to Wu. He nodded and the two ran toward the exit. That was when a large crack was heard and Kai looked up. A large chunk of the building was falling toward him fast. He felt someone kick him out of the way, landing on his side. Noise was all around him. When it became silent, he looked up. Wu was covered in the rumbled, blood pooling around him. "Master Wu!" Kai yelled getting up and running toward him. 

He shoved himself into the rumble, but it wouldn't budge. "Don't...it's too late for me.." Wu said his breathe rapsy. "Don't say that! It's not too late for you! We-" Wu let out a bloody cough. "Kai..don't blame yourself for what happened to me...the others won't blame you either..none of this is your fault...." Master Wu let out his last breathe before becoming still. Kai stared at him, not knowing what to say.

".....and I ran. I didn't look back." Kai finished. Mk stared at him. "So you left..because you thought the others would blame you?" Mk asked. "That and all the guilt. I..I just couldn't face them after what I did. Now I see I should have told them" Kai said grumbling. Mk stared him before hugging him. "You don't deserve to be alone." he said to him. Kai was taken back before hugging him back

Chapter Text

Clay paced back and forth, deep in thought. "Clay. We need to talk." He looked up to see Nya and the other nexo ninjas come in, Mei walking with them. "What's there to talk about?" Clay asked. "We have something that..may be important to...Mk." Jay said to him. "Please. He's already heard what-" "That's not what we're talking about." Macy said. Clay paused and looked at them. "Then why are you he-" "We think that this Kai guy is Mk's dad." Mei cut in. He was taken aback. "W-what?" he said. "It's kinda been obvious to us. The fire, the hair, the eyes, it's obvious that he's the son of Kai." Aaron explained. 

"I thought we all agreed not to speak about Kai." Clay growled. "Well 's hard to talk about him when he's my brother." Nya refuted. "And it's extra hard when Mk is the son of Kai." Mei told him. "How do we even know he's actually his son?" Clay said. "Who else beside's Kai would have the fire elemental? I don't have it." Nya told him.  "What about that Skylor chick?" Lance said. "Okay, first of all, I'm pretty sure Kai and Skylor wouldn't be that close." Jay said. "And second of all, we don't even know if Skylor was that son of Skylor and Kai." He added. "Well there has to be some other-"

"You knew."

Everyone froze. They turned to see Mk standing in the doorway. "Oh hey bud!" Mei said nervously. "You all knew?" Mk said almost growling.  "He-hey we only just discovered it!" Lance defended. "But you always had a feeling didn't you? You guys always had a feeling." Flames flickered in and out. He started to step toward them. "You guys knew and you didn't tell me?" His hands were lit ablaze, flames growing around him. "Mk calm down! Aaron said. "Don't tell me to calm down! Especially after what you did to Kai!" he yelled his hair turning into flames. "W-what we did to kai? He only has himse-" 

Clay quickly dodged a flame shot at him. "Kai didn't go to you because he feared that you will judge him! Just like how your judging me!" Mk growled. "You guys were once his friends! His family! And you turned your back on him." he growled. Fire started to surrounded him in a spiral. "Just like how your doing to me!"

*BLAST!*

Mk blasted a hole through the wall, leading to the outside. Mk ran out. "Mk wait!" Mei yelled running after him. Zane turned to Clay. "Congrats Clay. Now we may have lost the only thing close to Kai." Zane said.

Mk ran and ran, not wanting to turn back. "Mk! Stop! Wait!" Mei pleaded. He stopped and turned to her. There was fire circling around him. "I know your hurt! And you have every right to be." Mei said as she panted. "But your not alone. You have me! You don-" "No." Mk said stepping back. Mei was silent. "No?" she said. "You..you can't help me with this Mei. Only..Kai.." Fire circled around him and he was gone.

Mk found himself on the mountain. He felt tears coming to his eyes. "Kid?" he looked to see Kai walking toward him. "How did you-" He was cut off by Mk hugging him. He was silent before hugging him back.

Chapter Text

Kai and Mk sat around a fire, sitting down on logs. "So they finally put two and two together huh? About time." Kai said. Mk was silent. "Kai..why did you leave me?" He asked looking up at him. Kai was silent. He then sighed. "I'm a fugitive. How can I be a dad? I'm on my own, my own friends turned on me, and I..." He was silent. "I just wasn't ready to raise a kid." He admitted. "Is that why you left me at Pigsy's?" Mk asked. Kai nodded. "Don't get me wrong. I loved you and I still do. But I didn't want you to grow up being the son of a fugitive. You didn't deserve to be ridiculed and hurt because of me." Kai explained.

Mk stared at him. "You deserve better than me. I deserve to be alone." Kai said looking into the fire. Mk was silent. "No. You don't deserve to be alone at all!" Mk said. He stood up. "We're family. Your still my dad." Mk said approaching. "But I-" "I heard your side of the story. Your not a bad person. And beside's, who else can teach me but my own dad." He said smiling. Kai stared at him in shock. "You..still want me? Why?" he asked. "Because your my dad. And you deserve to with your family after all these years of being alone." "You mean-" "Yeah. I'm coming to live with you." Mk said smiling

Chapter Text

Mk had gathered all his things. He was ready to leave. He walked out to the field. "Not even gonna say goodbye?" He turned to see Pigsy, Mei, and Tang. "Sorry. I just-" "We get it. You wanted to leave." Pigsy said. "We just came here to say goodbye." Mei said smiling. Mk smiled and hugged them. "You can always return here if you want." Tang said. "I know." Mk said nodding. Pigsy stared at him.  "I'll be okay." He told him. Pigsy sighed. "I know." he said. "But just know there's always another home for you." Pigsy told him. Mk nodded and hugged him. "Hope the business does well." Mk said. "It will. Don't worry." Pigsy assured him. "Yeah. I'll help. So will Tang." Mei assured him. MK smiled. They all shared on last hug. Mk turned and sighed. "Here we go." he mumbled. Fire spiraled around him before it enveloped him. He found himself on the mountain. He looked to see Kai smiling at him. Mk smiled and approached him.
