Chapter 1: On The Road
Chapter Text
The tension on the bus could be cut with a knife. 17 handcuffed teenage criminals and villains, their home room teacher, who would be actings as their jailer and four police officers.
No one was talking. Their new teacher sat near the doors seemingly half asleep and the four police officer , each spread out between 5 of them, were sitting straight up and alert.
Understandablely, none of the students were making conversation. they knew nothing about their peers next to them except that they were also criminals and now were going to be in the same class and live in the same dorm.
Still, they couldn’t stand the silence. They hoped it wouldn’t be long until they collected the final few members of their new class.
Luckily it wasn’t.
—
It was officially the best day of his life.
Sure he’d been woken up at the crack of dawn and forced to wait with his hand cuffed together and legs cuffed to the uncomfortable chair he was sitting inat the police office.
But he was going to UA.(!!!!!)
Yeah, he was enrolled in 1A but HE was going to UA. He kick his legs the best he could and couldn’t help the small giggle that escaped him, he was going to learn, so much !
He couldn’t help the wide smile that graced his face. Happily aware of how uncomfortable it made the nearby officers.
——
Shouta Aizawa was tired.
The first week of school was exhausting for both teachers and students alike. And it was A-class luck that they kinda had two first weeks.
8 days before the first week of class, Eraserhead spent a day in one of UA’s buses, going all across Japan to collect the group of delinquents, he was responsible for that year. So he could spend the rest of the week letting them mellow out before the other kids started.
Once all of them were picked up they rode back to the school where Shouta went over the basic rules and expectations for the dorms and then released them for an hour to unpack, the little belongings they were allowed.
After that, it was time for the worst part of the first day. The class dinner. Catered by UA’s own Lunch Rush: Eraserhead, Midnight and of course, the principal were to sit and eat with the kids to “welcome” them.
He’d thought they were a complete waste of time, but it was one of the few things the rat had insisted on. So he sat awkwardly as Nedzu and Midnight attempted conversation with little to (usually) no success.
“Eraserhead,Sir, we’ve arrived”
Shouta stood reluctantly and took a quick glance at file 18,‘ almost done’ ,he got out the bus and walked into the Mufasta police department.
—-
He was down right giddy now. The officers watching him kept glancing at the clocks on the wall or their wrist watches so he’d be picked up soon.
He was swinging his legs harder(as much as the handcuffs allowed), and suppressed another fit of giggles. He still couldn’t believe it. Him and at UA, even after everything that happened!
He heard the door open and went still.
——
Aizawa nearly missed him. If it wasn’t for the handcuff on his legs and the photo of him in his hand he definitely would have.
Number 18 : Midoriya Izuku
The boy didn’t seem to have much muscle on him,in fact he looked sickly. He had long curly green hair tied up with a bow. He was baby faced with large green eyes and freckles. He was curling into himself and was shaking in his seat.
‘This kids gonna be eaten alive’
“Is this the kid?”, he asked one of the officers as he walked closer, still a bit unbelieving.
“Yes, Sir, number 18 - Midoriya” One said, uncuffing the boy’s legs and putting a thin metal tracking anklet.
“Listen up 18, I’m Shouta Aizawa, the 1A class sponsor and homeroom teacher, with you now being a ward of UA, I’ll be in charge locos parents, we’ll discuss that more in depth at the dorms. Now, we still have to get 19 and 20 so take your seat next to 17” Aizawa drawled leading him onto the bus
—-
Izuku resisted the urge to skip to his seat. His new classmates seemed to be either sulking or stewing with anger.
He could agree with the latter, being caught sucked but hey, he got a pretty good deal, in the end. And he was going to UA!!!
Keeping his head down incase he smiled he took his seat next to 17. He had purple gravity defying hair and lavender eyes with dark bags under them.
Lucky for him the bus had an open layout so he could see a good amount of his new classmates. He even recognized a few! Unlucky he was sat two open seats away from Aizawa. He felt bad for whoever 20 was.
The atmosphere was tense but Izuku ignored it, he glanced around at all the unfamiliar people and smiled once again.
—-
Yuuga Aoyama nearly cried with relief as the bus slowed nearing a large mansion where a few blurry figures stood. One of them was student 20 and the judging by the police car park outside the others were officers.
He was student 1 and had been the first to be picked up. At 4am.
Yeah, 4 in the morning. It was nearly 8 pm.
Fortunately for him and the other 1A kids , 18,19, and 20, didn’t live too far from each other.
Well, 18 had been one of the few not to be picked up at his house, along with 4,15,and 10.
19, a short boy with weird purple spheres (?balls?hair?) on his head had been picked up at a nice house 20-ish minutes after 18.
Finally the bus came to a stop and he peeked out the window after Aizawa got off. He saw Student 20,a girl with long black hair put into a ponytail, give a quick hug to what seemed to be her parents before following Aizawa into the bus with her head hung low, similar to what the other students already on the bus did, and probably mirroring the class before them.
Yuuga had tried to get a read on some of his new classmates. He noticed some hung their head in shame, not looking up as to pretend there weren’t tears in their eyes and others stomped onto the bus yet glared at the floor as if it had stabbed their father and spit on mother. A few walked dazed as though they couldn’t believe it.
Believe they’d been caught or accepted into the program he didn’t know. He had seen two boys shaking as they walked to their seat, not out of fear or anger just shaking for whatever reason. One had seemed worried and the other was about as nonchalant as they come.
All very regular reactions from what he studied about 1A. Well, all but one.
Student 18, the boy with green hair, had also came shaking, or rather trembling to his seat. He kept his head down and Yuuga couldn’t tell if he had any more defining features. He looked at 18 and felt a strange rush of Deja Vu.
He decide to put his head back down whenthe bus got back onto the road and couldn’t help but glance towards 18.
The boy was smiling.
And with that Yuuga knew
exactly
who he was
Chapter 2: Rules, Rules, and more Rules
Chapter Text
Finally at almost 9 30 pm, the 1A bus had arrived back to the UA campus. Once the bus stopped an officer with golden eyes walked to the door.
Aizawa stood and turned to face them all, “1 through 5, follow Officer Yamato off the bus, stay in number order and don’t try anything ”
The first five students followed officer Yamato each walking more rigided under Aizawas scrutinizing look. The procees repeated with one of the remaining officers taking the next five students, in number order of course, until student 20 was off the bus with Aizawa right behind her.
With some feeling a stab to their pride as the walked single file ,like elementary schoolers, until they reached a building with “1A” on it in big letters.
The students had to give UA credit, it was a nice building, a lot better than ones described at other Reformat programs had. Despite UA having the oldest reformat program in Japan, if not the rest of Asia, the dorms that were said to have been their since the beginning were well kept. Everything seemed new and it looked like you could eat off the floor.
Soon they were all lined up shoulder to shoulder in what was apparently the common area. The officers went around undoing hand cuffs.Aizawa stood in front of them at a large white board with their names written on them in what didn’t look like their number order.
“1-A, Get used to who you’re standing next to because you’ll be next to them constantly for the rest of the year. I don’t expect you to become best friends but cause too many problems with each other and consider yourself expelled ”
He didn’t even spare a glance at those who gasped or whose jaws dropped before continuing,
“Now incase you’ve forgotten, I’m Shouta Aizawa, the main ‘caretaker’ and homeroom teacher for your class. Your secondary caretaker and substitute in case I’m not here, which I wouldn’t worry about, is Pro Hero Midnight, so ,girls especially, don’t be afraid to go to her with any problems or things you may be uncomfortable asking or telling me about. Now that you are now all wards of UA, we will be in charge of all your medical, legal, and of course school related stuff.”
He looked at each student checking to make sure they were still following along. He pointed to the names on the whiteboard,
“On to the dorm stuff , you might not have noticed but for a number of reasons , we didn’t assign your rooms based of number order.
1,14,18 and 19 you’ll be on the second floor. 3,6,9,5,12 you’re on the third floor, 2,4,7,10,15,16 you’re on the fourth and finally 11,8,13,17, 20 you’re on the last floor. Boys dorms are on the left girls on the right. I don’t think it’ll be a problem now but we have cameras in each dorm hallway and outside the communal baths on this floor, so no funny business, got it?”
A few went red at the implications and others just nodded and couple called out “yes sir!”
“ The front door locks at 8:30pm and unlocks at 6:45 am. Your windows won’t go up all the way after 8:30, and we have cameras near the balconies , I get alerts anytime they’re open after 8:30, so don’t even try to escape. Your rooms each come with a small bathroom, balcony, and your own ac/heater. You’ve each been provided with a small fridge to keep your own snack foods. Now unless you have a medical or quirk related reason to need a specific food you’re expect to buy your own with your allowance. Your allowance starts at $30 a week and can be deducted for causing trouble in the dorms or in class, not turning in or failing tests and assignments, and not picking up after yourselves in the dorms or in class. similarly you can get more for doing the opposite of that. Don’t worry if you’ve manage to somehow lose all your allowance and don’t have any saving’s, UA will of course always keep the communal kitchen stocked with healthy nutritious ingredients . Allowance is just for if you want to buy snacks or books or whatever teenagers get nowadays. Any questions about your allowances?”
Number 7, a boy with blonde hair with a black lightning bolt raised his hand, “uh.. I know this is UA , and all but… I’m not that good at school.. so are we really gonna lose some allowance if we fail a test? ”
Number 2, a girl with pink skin and hair spoke up in agreement, “ Yeah UA is like super prestigious and whatever but that isn’t really fair!” Beside her , number 1, another blonde boy who seemed to sparkle nodded at them.
“Tough luck, you all should know by now that life’s not fair.”
Number 7 and his two most obvious supporters hunched back into themselves. And the others who stayed quiet looked at the floor.Aizawa supressed a grin,
“Luckily for you, UA does it’s best to be fair. You’ll only be deducted if it’s apparent you didn’t try. Your teachers won’t fail you unless it’s obvious you didn’t put in any effort”
The three looked as though they could fall to the floor in relief. Aizawa glanced around and called on 12, a purple haired girl with headphone jacks hanging from ears who was raising her hand.
“Sir, how do we use our allowance if we aren’t allowed to leave campus?”, a few kids who had been glancing around or spacing out turned and looked at Aizawa, they hadn’t even thought about that.
“Twice a month, on the 15th and 30th, I’ll check inventory on the food in the kitchen and see what’s needed and order it to be delivered. There are pre approved lists and magazines of food and other items in each of your rooms along with order forms, don’t lose them , fill them out and leave them hanging on the fridge or in a noticeable place on those days or turn them in to me during homeroom and they’ll be delivered to your dorm. Once a class president and vice president are assigned you can also turn your forms into them.
The students nodded, and when it seemed there wouldn’t be anymore questions Aizawa continued, “ Everday you’ll be expected to prepare your own meals. Whether you want to have a rotation of who cooks or a free for all that’s up to you. Just follow basic kitchen safety and inform me if you run out of something nessesscary before I take inventory. On school days lunch will be provided to all 1A students for free by Lunch Rush, speaking of Lunch Rush, they were generous enough to make tonight’s dinner for you. Your belongings have already been delivered to your room, you have an hour to go unpack before we eat. Dismissed.”
With that Aizawa turned around and lead the four officers, who some students genuinely forgot were there, out of the dorms.
The students turned and watched them leave. One similar thought on their minds, ‘huh?’

Maybe they were already settling into the number order mindset because they awkwardly went into the elevator 5 at time, starting with 1,2,3,4, and 5 instead of going by who’s on what floor.
The others just stood lined up outside the elevator attempting to not make eye contact.
Student 19, the boy with weird hair, looked as though he was trying desperately not to cough. Student 14, a boy with a bird head, had his beak held shut, as if was holding in a laugh.

Fumikage Tokoyami took back every time he defended Dark Shadow. The playground bullies and old ladies at the temple were right. She was a demon.
In fact, she had gotten him into this whole mess. Worst of all she didn’t even have the decency to be quiet during his new senseis speech. No, she spent the entire time wispering … dirty .. comments about his teacher and making jokes. Some of which were actually kinda funny, not that he’ll admit it.
He was relieved when he finally made it to his room. The plastic bins and black gym bag he put his stuff in had obviously been rummaged through and a small list of things he packed but were apparently not allowed sat on top of the bag saying he’d get it at the end of the year.
Thankfully his smaller extension cords and nightlights had passed inspection. Only after they were all plugged in did he have the courage to summon Dark Shadow. As expected Dark Shadow immediately went to turn of the light switch.
Tokoyami sighed, so did Dark Shadow.
“What are you sighing about”
“ I just thought you had more trust in me, Fumi”
“It’s because of the last time I trusted you, that I’m here!” Tokoyami huffed turning the light back on.
“Nu uh”
“What do you mean, ‘Nu uh’, you nearly killed that hero”
“Were they really a hero if they were willing to turn away from you being hurt just because you have a chicken head”
Fumikage felt himself shake with anger at that memory. He could recall all the vivid details even nearly two years later.
He had been cornered by some bullies a few days prior,he and Dark Shadow had fought back and won. The bullies were embarrassed and tried to pin the blame of them, saying Fumikage got angry and released Dark Shadow at them without any reason.
Luckily for Tokoyami, semi mutations where pretty common in his town and the school hadn’t believed them immediately and instead checked the security cameras where it captured the beginning of them harassing him and another student had recorded the fight on their phone and showed it to the teachers.
Fumikage left the principal’s office with a verbal and written apology from each of the bullies. They also would spend the next month on cleaning duty around the school and that was really the extent of their punishment as for most this was their first offense. However for two students, Aoi and Koji, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back, both students were expelled.
Unknown to him, Koji-kun’s older brother, a high school senior at the time, was involved with a prominent gang in the neighboring town.
Koji-kun’s older brother and a few of his gang friends had jumped Tokoyami on his way to the store one evening a few weeks after his little brother was expelled.
Tokoyami thought he’d be saved when a local hero,Windmill, had stumbled upon the scene.
Windmill had rushed into the dark corner where they were hidden from the cameras of a nearby coffe shop.
Yet when Windmill pulled one of the assailants who’d been stomping on Tokoyami’s head off of him and got a good look at Tokoyami he simply took a step back and sneered at Fumikage and then released the assailant.
Fumikage remembers being in shock only for a split second before all he felt was rage. And he knew it was wrong and knew it was dark but after mustering all his remaining strength he summoned Drak Shadow and let himself be taken over.
Fumikage sighed before catching on to the last part of Dark Shadows sentence.
“ I do not have a chicken head”
“Ya huh”
“Nu uh”
“Ya huh!”
“ Nu uh!! ”
——
‘Well there goes my hope for a peaceful hour’
It wasn’t that Mezou Shoji didn’t pack a lot, it was that he didn’t have a lot to pack. Coming from a village that hated mutant quirks and being the only one in his family that had one… life there wasn’t too kind to him.
Which is why he had ran away, if he could go back in time, he wouldn’t stop himself from leaving. He would stop the younger him from going to the mutant only homeless shelter in Tokyo.
But hey, he ended up at one of the top schools in the country so maybe things worked out for the better.
Yeah he was basically just another prisoner here but he was going to be a prisoner who had access to good food and water every day instead of a prisoner who cleaned all his boss’s messes from some pocket change and the ‘privilege’ to eat his scarps off the floor. He was now a prisoner with a nice bed (futon really, but he choose that) in his own room in a place with heat and AC instead of sleeping on the floor of the train station or on a couch in a trap houses or if he was really lucky his boss would pay for a shitty motel room.
Yet in the end he was still a prisoner. He honestly can’t imagine ever not being shackled to something. Before it had been his boss , now UA, and he wasn’t hopeful that, if he graduated that he wouldn’t find himself in the same situation again. It wasn’t like he had anywhere else to go.
But who knows, maybe he will graduate and things will be better?
Mezou decided that he’ll keep to himself, keep his head down and give the teachers no reason to even spare him a passing glance let alone a reason to expel him.
A loud yell caught his attention
“This might be a bit more difficult than I thought”
Mezou sighed, seriously tempted to fight whatever two people were arguing “Nuh uh!” “ Ya huh!” with each other.

Life was officially over for Tooru Hagakure
Her quirk was good for one thing and one thing only.
Spying.
And she completely fucked it up. She should’ve know better than to put all her eggs into one basket and refuse help from Shiota-Chan.
But nooo, she had to let her pride get in the way and turn them down. Yeah the job seemed easy enough, but hindsight was 20/20 and now it was embarrassingly obvious how it was a trap.
Months later she’s shaking with anger at herself as she unpacks her stuff. She didn’t even try to be sneaky and hide some contraband. What was the point?
Even if she managed to graduate from 1-A and get a clean record, she still had no skills.
She wasn’t good at sports, her grades were average at best , she had no artistic or musical talents, and couldn’t cook to save her life.
Her quirk just made things worst. Being invisible obviously didn’t make her one of the lucky people who could coast through life on their cool quirk or even a girl, that made people trip over themselves when they see her.
She’d been to numerous quirk counselors and specialist and spent hours with different relatives trying to help her but she just couldn’t make herself visible.
Invisibility quirks were common on her mom’s side of the family and her dad’s side had similar quirks where they could alter the optically of an object or person. But none of their advice or jeers could help her be seen.
She was a ghost in her family. Literally unseen compared to her siblings or cousins who had something going on for them. She worked her ass off in a bunch of different activities trying to find at least one thing she was good at, but nothing.
Some people think that your quirk defines who you are as a person. People with ice quirks are cool and cold, People with fire quirks are loud and have tempers, peoples whose quirks are related to animals or nature are soft and sweet, people with glaring mutant features are scary and intimidating , people with low key mutant features are ‘not like the others’, people with enchanted hearing or vision are gossips, people with blood quirks are destined to be villains.
The stronger, flasher, better , your quirk is, the higher you are on the social chain.
With her useless quirk all she was able to do was be unnoticed and she learned to take advantage of that.
In large crowded places people don’t notice much of anything that’s going on around them and even in smaller or near empty places; they still might not notice the obvious. There’s a reason, eyewitness testimony is the least reliable. The human brain strains to rationalize what it can’t make sense of.
So nobody noticed a floating tube of expensive make up or a shiny new designer bag. Well nobody noticed for a while.
The first time she had been confronted she nearly dropped her new matching diamond jewelry set. But the girl who’d confronted her only laughed at her and asked her to come eat with her and friends.
And thus began the worst friendship of her life.
Makeup, clothes ,and jewelry turned into cash, documents, and planting bugs in government offices.
The train sped up from 10 to 100 as soon as she was fully on. But she didn’t dare jump off, thinking that these people had noticed her, helped her and even if the train went off the rails, then the crash would be big enough to garner attention.
Yet when her parents had been told and they came in yelling and scolding, two days after she’d been in custody, not her but an empty space 3 feet away from where she was standing. She felt something inside her shatter.
Tooru finished unpacking and laid on her new bed, ‘Nothing changed then, nothing will change now’
—-
‘ If there’s some god out there listening, Fuck You’, Violently crushing the cardboard box that had contained his meager belongings, Hitoshi Shinsou was full of rage.
Hitoshi’s quirk was a mutated combination of his parents. His mom’s quirk, Hypnotize, allowed her to hypnotize anyone who she was looking at and who was looking back at her. She could make them do a number of things but it only lasted for as long as she could concentrate on them. His dad’s quirk, Lull, enchanted his voice to be very compelling and put anyone who could hear into a dazed state.
Shinsou’s own quirk, plainly named ‘brainwashing’ , did just that. When a person answered a question he asked they would be trapped within their own mind, mindless doing whatever he ordered unless he broke the connection or someone made physical contact with the brainwashed persons.
He vividly remembers the day it first manifested. He was three going through the very annoying ‘ why ?’ phase and his dad was about to collapse on the floor. Literally, apparently putting people into a near sleep-like stage meant it was harder for him to sleep.
‘C’mon buddy, it’s time for your nap’
‘Why?’
‘Because it’s nap time, kiddo’
‘Why?’
‘Because it’s already 1: 30 and mama wanted you to go nap at 12’
‘Why?’
‘Because mama and daddy want you to be well rested, so let’s go nap’
‘Why?’
‘Because if you sleep now then you won’t be sleepy later’
‘Why’
‘Fuckin- *sigh* just go nap Toshi, you don’t know how lucky you are to be able to have naps everyday’
‘Why don’t you go and nap then?!’
‘Because daddy has a condition called -“
“ Just go nap daddy!”
And with that his daddy fell immediately to the floor.
His mama would come back from work to find her husband unconscious with dried blood staining his hair and her three year old having bawled himself to sleep , next to a bunch of bloodied paper towels, with eyes crusted from crying and snot stuck to his face.
Hitoshi remembered being so scared before he exhausted himself, thinking he’d be in a lot of trouble. But his mama had just gently shook him awake and carried him into a nice warm bath. He remembered vaguely noticing that daddy was now on the couch and his hair had no more red in it. His mama dried him carefully and put him into his nicest pjs - the new ones he couldn’t wear because he was going to wear them for the family Christmas picture in a couple weeks - and softly asked him what happened, saying he wasn’t in any trouble and she just wanted to know.
Maybe she’d used her quirk on him or maybe it was just because she was his mama, that he told her everything . He thought that she might still get mad at him, he remembered her saying the same thing to daddy , that she wouldn’t be mad, then she yelled at him after he confessed whatever she was asking about.
This time she must have meant it because she only cupped his cheeks into her hands and peppered his face with kisses, making him laugh. She happily explained that he must’ve used his quirk for the first time and that she was sorry she missed it. She gave him a final kiss and tucked him in.
Later his daddy would wake him to go out and eat, something they didn’t do often- they even got dessert!, and he just ruffled his hair and told him he wasn’t mad but that next time he should ask him to lay down before getting him to nap.
It was a happy day for him, even if it didn't seem so at the time. Everyday after that he wished he could go back to that day and relive it over and over again.
But things never go his way.
A couple years afterwards, he had been removed from his parents custody and been forced to live with his paternal grandmother, who despised him .
Her quirk was a weaker version of his daddy’s.
Tone - let his grandmother’s tone of voice affect the emotions of whoever she was talking to.
His mama and daddy told him scary stories about , grandmother, the mean old witch who turned people into puppets if they couldn’t act right. Said that she was old and bitter and hated seeing people be happy when she couldn’t be. They told him that she hated mama and daddy because she couldn’t stand that their love overpowered her quirk and that she would hate him because he was a product of their love and therefore would be immune to it.
And they were right, she couldn’t use her quirk on him, his quirk, the combination of his parents gave him protection from quirks that tried to affect his mind.
Hitoshi was furious that his mama and daddy were gone but grandmother wouldn’t leave him.
So he acted out.
When he was younger he yelled and made scenes in public places and when that became embarrassing for his age he used his quirk.
The other kids at school were always giving him ideas on how to use his quirk to make trouble but Hitoshi had promised mama and daddy that he wouldn’t use his quirk like that but now Hitoshi wasn’t with mama and daddy, he was with grandmother and she was always going on about how “ you don’t live with your parents now, you live with me and when your with your granny you have to listen to my rules”. Well Hitoshi didn’t give a shit about following grandmother’s rules, it wasn’t like she could enforce them anyway.
In three years he had been expelled from four schools and his transfer request had been denied at eight others.
He remembered standing there, blank face, as grandmother cried and cried her crocodile tears, putting on an ‘emotional’ show as one of the annoying ass social workers decided to actually do their job and get him out of that hellhole.
(Not that he didn’t see her after that, she kept coming to try and ‘visit him’ for the next three years. Often with his aunts, uncles, and sometimes cousins in tow - like she was trying to flaunt her what her perfect family looked like with him and his parents staining it.)
Unfortunately he didn’t go back with mama and daddy, they put him in a foster home.
His first foster family, the Nakumaras, were decent, they didn’t expect him to cook or clean all day and were nice enough, the real problem was their other foster kid, Kauro. He hated Hitoshi and hated that Hitoshi found it amusing.
Behind the adults' backs they would fight physically, punching , kicking and scratching each other. Verbally they screamed at each other and would whisper insults. It was when Kauro tried to play with his mind that Hitoshi finally had enough and used his quirk.
Apparently it was a crime to do so in the family because Shinsou was in the backseat of his social worker's car two days afterwards. He didn’t really care, only pleased that despite him not being there, Kauro would feel his absence long afterwards.
Shinsou’s social worker turned out to be a very optimistic person because he kept trying to find him a foster family but his quirk and increasing reputation as a ‘problem child’ made it extremely difficult. In three years he’d been placed in and kicked out of 11 foster homes, including the Nakumarus.
After foster family 11, he was sent to what his social worker called the ‘best’ group home in Japan.
Hitoshi lasted a year and a half.
Which in all fairness was a lot longer than any foster home, so credit where credit’s due.
The people running it had wanted to charge him legally, after the ‘stunts’ he pulled, and have him be thrown in juvie but his social worker talked them out of it, saying he needed ‘professional help’, or whatever.
Hitoshi had then spent a miserable year in that hospital. He just about lost his mind being locked in his ‘room’, metal muzzle strapped onto his face as punishment for any reason the bastardars could think of.
So he burned it to the fucking ground.
Well, tried to burn it down. He only managed to really burn the common area and some of the rooms.
He made sure no other patients would be hurt, admittedly he did calm down over the last two years, because it was the first thing he thought of when decided to try his hand at arson.
In the end, he came to the conclusion that the universe must hate him because not only did the hospital turn out to be a spot where kids and young teens were quirk trafficked it was a spot specifically run by a high level villain that was being hunted down by All Might .
All Might himself had complimented Hitoshi saying that if weren’t for the fire and the investigation that came afterwards they definitely would have missed it. He isn’t a big All Might fan, but being praised by anyone let alone the number 1 hero made him giddy.
Of course that had to be ruin, his social worker had been in tears when Shinsou saw him again after the man had been interrogated. Which was kind of uncomfortable but his social worker wasn’t a bad guy, and the government seemed to think so too because he kept his job.
After he finished crying and wiped his face, he told Shinsou not to worry because he found him a temporary place. Exhausted,he only nodded and flopped into the back seat of the man’s car, actually falling asleep .
Maybe he should’ve asked more questions because when he woke up he found himself outside a house he thought he’d never see again.
Grandmother and her family were all outside, Grandmother at the front with a tear stained face.
He still wasn’t a 100% sure as to how he didn’t just turn around and leave then or how he managed to not to snap at his aunts who tried “comforting” him, or his cousins who’d get in his face and yell questions, or uncles who were obviously trying to ‘give him a male role model’.
He didn’t even yell at the witch.
Even fact he didn’t say anything, to her, to his aunts, uncles, cousins, his shrink, not even his new teachers and classmates. He didn’t say a single word for an entire year. It was probably the most peaceful year he had since they took him away
from his mama and daddy.
But if it isn’t obvious now, god or the universe, hate him.
Hitoshi was happy, at first, it was Friday and he didn’t have school because a villain had been thrown onto the building and it was under repair, and his social worker came by. From her behavior it seemed as though Grandmother, was finally tired of him and was letting him go.
He was half right. She was letting him go, but not to another foster home and of course not back to mama and daddy. No, because apparently his social worker and her were conspiring together, together they presented him an acceptance letter, to UA, Class 1A.
When he was with his mama and daddy, he wanted to be a hero. But it wasn’t something he’d thought about in years. Yet for some strange reason the idea of being at UA, not as a hero or even a Gen Ed student, but in 1A, made his stomach turn.
“Students your hour is nearly up, please begin making your way to the dining area”, an unfamiliar voice could be heard echoing in each room.
Shinsou toyed with the idea of just not going but he had feeling Aizawa wasn’t someone he wanted to mess with. So he rubbed his wounded pride and put on a blank mask, and made his way back to the first floor. He’d already gone a year without talking before, he could definitely do it again.
Notes:
I have an idea for each students backstory and wanted to put a couple more but these four just jumped onto the page and took over the whole chapter.
Try to guess why some of the other 1-A kids are at UA! The story’s obviously not cannon compliant so I can guarantee at least one of them will surprise you 😈.
I’ve already started next month’s chapter it’s not done yet but I’m gonna try to finish and post it on Valentine’s Day, and please excuse any misspellings, spelling ain’t my strong suit and this work is unbeta’d
Chapter Text
Principal Nezu was delighted! It’s class 1-A’s first week at the dorms, and the first week was always one of the more interesting times for him to obverse the class.
There are plenty of interesting students, that he is sure will benefit greatly from their time at his school.
Unless,Aizawa expelles them all again this year. He admires the man, truly he does, but he is a bit too happy when he expellees his students.
Yet he can’t argue the results, UA’s reformat program had always been very successful but under Aizawa the graduation rate has gone from 40 to 65% in the last 6 years.
Aizawa would surely have his hands full this year. Several students from high profile families and several students who had been classified as A level threats.
A majority of the recent 1A classes, had been made up of D and C tier criminals, with the occasional high profile B level student, but with All Might being at UA and teaching regularly as well as his very vocal supppourt the board had finally agreed to let Nezu add some more interesting students.
Including the first S level threat since himself.
—-
‘That time of year again’, thought pro hero Midnight.
Contrary to Aizawas belief, she also didn’t really like the first day dinner.
They always went the same - Principal Nezu would give them a nice welcome speech and Lunch Rush would lay out the food as the students tried desperately to not fall sleep or to
start eating. Shouta would sit looking equally as bored but still with an aura of intimidation. After Nezu finishes talking they dig in and she and him attempt conversation,if they were lucky they’d get a ‘no’,’uhh’, ‘yes’, ‘ I don’t know’ or ‘maybe’.
More often than not the student would just avoid eye contact or shrug. It’s rare but they also occasionally get a rude and angry ‘fuck off’ or ‘fuck you’.
She quickly went to her seat, already pitting the poor kid sat by Aizawa. She took her usual seat- on Nezu’s left as he sat at the head of the table and Shouta sat on his right, directly across from her.
Soon the new kids began piling in. She beckoned student 1, Yuuga Aoyama, to come sit next to her, “Number order, kids”
Nemuri took her chance to really get a good look at the students as they sat.
Aoyama seemed nervous , unsure of himself , and just the tiniest bit hopeful , just about what she expected from what she read of his file.
Student 20, Momo Yaoyorozu, kept her head down and tried to make herself seem as small as possible.
Next to her student 19, Mineta, seemed torn between looking down at his lap or up at Yaoyorzu’s chest. Midnight gave a heavy sigh and made a mental note to keep an eye on him.
She was able to get a few quick glances at a couple of the late comers, student number 13, Sero Hanta, had his arms crossed and was slouched in his chair and had dragged himself downstairs.
Number 9, Koji Kouda, a mountain of a boy (literally), had shakily and shyly took his seat, Nemuri would’ve once been convinced he was in the wrong place but now she knew all too well that appearances could be deceiving.
Once everybody was settled Principal Nedzu raised his glass and spoke, “Hello Class 1-A, Am I a rat? A dog? A bear?, it’s unknown but what is known is that I’m your principal,Nedzu! Now, each of you have been carefully selected to join our school’s Young Criminal Reforment Program, congratulations!” Nedzu paused for just a moment before continuing, smiling more sinister, “You’ve been marked as both a threat or possible asset to the greater good of Japan!”
That got some reactions.
Students number 4 and 12 each let out a rather rude scoff. 3 and 13’s faces switched from indifference and irritation into righteous fury. Students 1,8, and 20 actually flinched back. Numbers 17 and 15 who had put together rather impressive masks of a neutral disinterest seemed to become unnaturally still. And student 18 started to tremble slightly.
Aizawa glared at the students but didn’t actually activate his quirk, still Nemuri stayed ready to jump in or activate her own quirk if necessary. Nedzu, however, remained unfazed and continued his speech.
“I know some of you believe you were doing the right thing, but you were not. And accepting that will help you help you on your road to redemption. Now onto the few official matters, as I’m sure you are aware that as principal I am the one responsible for the criminal remorment program however due to my other duties and the amount of care needed for the program, I leave 1A in the capable hands of Mr. Aizawa. He has all the power that I would have so let there be no misconceptions, that I will more likely than not support any of his decisions regarding 1A,although, Shouta I would prefer that you don’t expelle them all at the same time again
Midnight felt herself slouch at the reminder of that.
While Aizawa focuses on 1A and their personal reforment, it’s her job to reform their image with the public. It had been a nightmare to try and salvage some of those kids reputation and help UA regain a bit of the dignity it had loss as result.
“They weren’t going to change their ways” Aizawa said nonchalantly, not caring about how his current class was looking at him with their jaws dropped.
Sure, many of them didn’t want to be here but to be expelled from UA’s program would open a whole other can of worms for that student.
Student 20 scooted back from him as though he might bite her.
“Hm, if you say so. Moving forward, I would like you to know that at UA we will do our best to ensure that those of you who graduate will leave our school in a better position than you were in before.”
It took some effort oh her part for Midnight not to laugh at the pure disbelief that colored the student’s faces but Nedzu didn’t even blink.
“Yes, yes, I know you don’t believe this but I hope you will soon realize that we truly have your best interest at heart. I know that this place may seem like a cage but if you hold on and attempt to redeem yourself then you’ll find yourself on much more fullfilling life path”
It was odd for Nemuri to hear her boss speak in such a sincere manner but she knew that this program was something he genuinely cared a lot for despite his hands off approach. She hadn’t been entirely sure of herself when she became a secondary caregiver for 1-A but she found herself being more and more invested in the redemption program as time progressed.
Nedzu cleared his throat and Nemuri focused her attention back on him after tuning out the rest of his speech,” Oh dear me, it’s getting quite late so I’ll wrap up my little speech with a toast!”, Nedzu and the two teachers raised their glasses’ with the students raising theirs more cautiously.
With a wider than necessary smile Nedzu shouted, “To new beginnings!”
Notes:
Y’all I ain’t ever gonna try and write Nedzu again 😭
Anyway this was a bit more of a filler chapter but I planted some seeds. We should get the ball rolling in either the next chapter or the one after.
I haven’t started next month’s chapter yet, but I do have spring break the first or second week of march so hopefully I’ll have more time to write. Junior year is kicking my ass and physics is gonna be my thirteenth reason.
Hope y’all are liking this story so far, I’ve also got a couple Trolls fics that Im gonna post soon, so if you’re interest in that keep an eye out.
Chapter 5: Dinner Time

Chapter Text
As per tradition the students reluctantly echoed the toast - none quite ready to directly challenge the Principal, ‘Thank God’
Aizawa was too tired to deal with any attempts at rebellion. He knew it wouldn’t last though;sooner than later one of the little brats would try and lead the others. It won’t end well for them, Aizawa has seen it happen before, most likely the other students would fight them then each other - a pathetic attempt to gain what little power they could. Whoever comes out of that on top tries to take the reins only to fall back down. They're too different, a simple hierarchy with one person on top and the others on bottom doesn’t work. The best thing for them to do is to split into groups and learn to get along or at the very least coexist.
Aizawa already couldn’t wait for the power struggle to be over and it hadn’t even started, it was a massive headache to mediate. The only good thing to come out of it was that he got to observe the students and see where they’ll fall in the grand scheme of things.
He doesn’t pay much attention to their transcripts, he knows they aren’t entirely accurate. All villains put on an act as do all teenagers. The public likes to think of the kids in 1-A as one dimensional but Aizawa knows better. He had been in 1-A himself, even if it had been a long time ago.
He shook his head and started to make his plate. Lunch Rush spent a long time on this and would kill him if he didn’t eat. He felt the tension as the kids slowly began to follow suit and began cautiously putting food on their plates.
Next to him he felt Nedzu’s gaze sweep across the table and Aizawa fought a grimace. He knew his boss was sizing them up and trying to see who he would try to converse with first. Across from him, Aizawa saw Nemuri doing the same thing.
He rolled his eyes. He hated the whole dinner thing even when he was a student - it was tense and felt so forced he couldn’t even enjoy his food. Still, it was one of the smaller and more manageable things Nedzu enforced so he had learned to grit his teeth and bare with it. He pitted whatever kid was called on first, it was definitely the most awkward encounter.
After a few silent minutes of eating it seemed as though Nedzu had found his first victim.
“Ah Number 17, how are you settling in?”
There was a small pause in which nobody spoke as 17 realized he was 17. It was definitely one of the more humiliating aspects of 1-A - being seen as being not even worth a name. Aizawa hated it but he couldn’t deny the results, he had tried with a few different classes to use the students names from the get-go but it didn’t have as much of an effect as he’d been hoping for.
When it dawned on 17, an irated look flashed across his face before disappearing as if it had never been there at all. The boy looked slightly above Nedzu, giving the illusion he was looking him in the eyes before shrugging and turning back to his food.
Aizawa shot his boss an amused look. Nedzu must have been feeling nostalgic. He remembers them having a near identical interaction his first day of being in 1-A. Although he may be flattering himself, of course he’d be interested in 17, as much as Aizawa tries avoiding learning a lot about his students before the first day of class even he knew about one of the students that All Might himself put a good word in for.
Nemuri had apparently also chosen her victim as she turned towards a green haired girl with amphibious features, “How about you 3? Were the accommodations of your room acceptable?”
Number 3 also had a blank expression but Aizawa thought it might just be natural. The girl looked up and answered nonchalant, “Yes,
Thank you”
Aizawa nodded to himself, already seeing where these two would likely fall within the class. The girl,3, will find herself in the middle of a group, not the leader but strong enough not to let the leader walk over them. The boy, 17, will try to fade into the background whether or not he succeeds, Aizawa can’t yet tell.
A few more awkward minutes passed by while they ate before Nedzu decided to try again.
“Student 6, I believe you’re experienced with martial arts, is still something you wish to presume once you’ve graduated?”
Student 6, a plain looking blonde haired boy with a tail, startled, obviously not thinking he would’ve been called on.
“Uh- yes, sir”, he straightened up and answered quickly before putting his head back down.
From his initial reaction Aizawa could guess the boy was used to falling into the background but wasn’t too bitter about it. By his respectful language and his attempt to straighten up infront of the principal he guessed 6 he was one of those self-righteous types and oh. Aizawa swallowed back a groan - student 6 had most likely been a vigilante.
Vigilantes were the worst for him to teach, in his opinion. Especially if they managed to become known to the public. They start out alright - people or in 1-A’s case teens, wanting to help out but they quickly fall down the self-righteous rabbit hole. They’re doing the right thing and the heroes are at fault because they aren’t immediately taking care of their city, or town, or neighborhood. Not understanding that ironically there’s more to hero work than stopping the bad guy via any means necessary. They only become more pretentious when they get ‘fans’ since they only reinforce the idea that they’re doing the right thing.
Nemuri didn’t wait for it to get quiet before deciding to try another fruitless attempt at conversation.
“12, I’ve heard that you’re an aspiring musician, have you published any of your stuff?”
12 shook her head, “Nope”, she said in a nonchalant voice crossing her arms putting on a mask of indifference but Aizawa could see that the purple haired girl was trying to make herself as small as possible, obviously not liking all the attention on her.
Aizawa looked towards his boss guessing he already had another victim in mind - the gleam in Nedzu’s confirmed it.
The rat smiled and towards student 18,the sickly looking boy, “ What about you, 18, how are you settling in?”
The boy gave a deer-in-headlights expression and after a second he gave a shaky smile but Aizawa could tell it was genuine.
“I’m settling in well sir! Thank you for asking”
‘Huh,’ That was a first, Aizawa had never seen a student give more than a two word response during the welcome dinner. He eyed the boy more intently; there was obviously more to him than meets the eye. Across from him he also saw Nemuri’s shocked expression. She quickly fixed her face and jumped at the chance to actually have a conversation.
“ Oh I’m glad to hear that 18. Are you excited for classes to start?”, she asked happily.
The boy nodded, fiddling with the sleeves of sweater, and began rambling ,” Yeah! I’ve always liked …learning and I can’t wait to start classes here! The curriculum is supposedly one the toughest in the country but everyone who comes from UA goes on to do great things so it must be very fulfilling. UA’s always been my dream school - but it was impossible for people like me to get in so I never thought I’d be here! Of course I wish it was under different… circumstances!”
18 ends his sentence in a nervous voice obviously becoming more and more self-conscious as everyone begins staring at him.
Aizawa blinks before glancing towards Nedzu only to see a sharp look on his face and glancing back towards 18. ‘It’s too early for this’
After a beat, student 8, a muscular boy with dyed haired, asks, “ What do you mean ‘it was impossible for people like you to get in’ ?”
The boy blinked and said in a causal tone, “Because I’m quirkless and UA didn’t allow quirkless people into the school until about 20ish years ago”
There was pause before
“YOUR QUIRKLESS”
Several students asked some yelling and others more quiet. The kids were in disbelief and Aizawa found himself feeling the same.
A quirkless kid in UA’s villain class?
Aizawa didn’t have anything against the quirkless but he couldn’t believe that a quirkless teen had been accepted into the program. Hundreds of kids applied or were recommended- many from influential families. He pitted Midnight, he could already see how bad the press would react to a quirkless person ‘taking up space’ in 1A and all the wealthier families backing them up, mad that 18 had been accepted instead of their own brat.
He looked to Nedzu who had a happy expression. It had been a few years since he’d pulled a ‘stunt’ like this. The last having been when half of 1A students had major mutations and the other half obvious ‘villain’ quirks. He had foolish hoped that his termination of the whole class last year would’ve fulfilled his need for controversy.
Aizawa turned his attention back to 18 who began speak once his peers had quited down.
“Yep” he shrugged but Aizawa saw something in his eyes that conflicted with his causal yet nervous demeanor.
“Dude”, number 8 began, “That’s SO unmanly !”
18 and a few others blinked. Seeing their expression 8 elaborated, “ How could a such a prestigious school with a reputation for having a strict no discrimination policy ever have that kinda quirkist policy”
Next to Aizawa, student 20 spoke up, “I’m not suggesting that the policy isn’t unfair but is it quirkist if it’s against quirkless people”
Across the table, student 7, who had previously spoken up against their allowance protecall seemed to ponder the question before joining the conversation, “ Well I can’t tell you the Webster definition of a quirkist other than being against a person ‘cause of their quirk but the whole ‘no quirkless kids at UA ‘ is definitely discrimination”
Student 17 looked at 18 with a weird expression and Aizawa made note to keep an on them. 17 hadn’t said anything but if he was against 18 solely for not having a quirk than Aizawa would see to it that he fixed his viewpoint or packed his bags.
On the other side of the table, 1 asked wide eyed in a still disbelieving voice, “ Are you really, quirkless?”
18 shrunk into himself but tried for a smile, “Yeah I’mma 100% quirkless and I got the extra toe joint to prove it.”
Next to 1, Student 2 turned to him, body rigid and her eyes full of fury, “Ya’ got a problem with that!”
Farther away number 11 looked at 1 with dark yet tired eyes.
Aizawa could tell that with such obvious mutation ( 2 was pink with horns and 11 had multiple arms) that the two had faced their fair share of quirk based discrimination before and he knew those with mutant quirks were less likely to judge others on their quirks or in this case lack of.
Frantically 1 shook his head, “ No, of course not! I was just surprised to hear that, the quirkless population in Japan is microscopic compared to other countries! And most of the Japanese quirkless population is 50 and older!”
13, who had long since lost his scowl looked at 1 questioningly,” Do you just know quirkless statistics off the top of your head?”
“My older brother was quirkless, there was too much stigma surrounding it in Japan so my family moved back to France since it is my mothers home country and there’s a higher quirkless population. He was always keeping track of quirkless statistics he found them…interesting”
18 seemed much less nervous now that it had been cleared up that 1 wasn’t quirkist. “ Yeah, you would think that Aisa being the most populated continent would naturally have the largest quirkless population but that title belongs to North America. Supposedly because it was last continent quirks manifested on”
“Really? I always thought Europe had the higher quirkless population ”, Midnight said. 18 nodded and gave the most genuine smile Aizawa had seen from any of the students all day as he began rambling again.
“I’m not surprised, despite the larger quirkless population and all the equality laws North America doesn't really advertise that fact due to their history of having had the most brutal executions of those with any kind of quirks during the dawn of quirks - supposedly it was similar to that of the holocaust . Europe on the other hand has a few smaller countries where there are more quirkless than quirked people.”
“Are you interested in pre-quirk era history, 18”, Nedzu asked.
The boy made a ‘kind of’ gesture with his hand, “I do find some pre quirk era history interesting but I’m more interested in the dawn of quirks, how different countries reacted, the quirk uprise, first hero era- oh! And early quirk theory -what they were exactly how and why they showed up. Well Quirk theory in general fascinates me!”
The principal raised his eyebrow and Aizawa got a sinking feeling in his gut.
“Any specific theories you’re interested in?” The rat asked.
The boy nodded aggressively sitting straighter in his seat. eyes sparkling, “ YEAH! The Quirk singularity theory!”
“What’s that?” Student 5 asked.
The question only made the boy more excited as he started talking with much more confidence.
“Quirk Singularity theory- says that eventually we’ll reach the point where quirks are so powerful that they’re uncontrollable or even harmful to the person they belong too…!” 18 keeps talking animatedly with wild gestures only stopping to answer someone’s questions. Aizawa isn’t sure how to react and neither are some of the students. A few of the more clever ones are only asking questions and indulging 18’s lecture so that they aren’t forced into a conversation by Nedzu or Midnight, both of his colleagues seem happy with this. Other students seemed to have genuinely loosened up and focused on 18 actually interested in what he was saying. And a couple others only stared at 18 confused.
Aizawa found himself being with the confused group. He never had a student so open and vulnerable as Izuku Midoriya before. Usually 1A students kept their quirks to themselves until they had to or thought it would give them a higher standing within the hierarchy.
The dinner continued as did the conversation. Mostly led by 18 and supported by Nedzu and Midnight but occasionally a few of the more social members of 1A would ask questions or tell small antidotes.
Aizawa left the dorms after dinner still confused but certain of one thing; Midoriya would be unlike any other student he had before. Whether that was a good or bad thing he couldn’t tell but based on Nedzu’s near feral smile as they left he was leaning towards the latter.
Notes:
Here’s the dinner chapter! Not as intense or suspenseful as I originally thought but I was able to get in some world building, sprinkle in a bit of lore for Ojiro and Aoyama, and more importantly, we’re finally get 1A interacting with each other! Next chapter we’ll see how 1A acts together when there aren’t any adults watching.

Y’all… March was NOT my month 😭
In terms of school, life, and writing everything went to shit. The fanfic author curse must’ve gotten to me 😔So I’m gonna rant about my month, feel free to skip this
It started off so good, I’d managed to keep my A in physics but now I got a new enemy- Algebra 2. It’s ruining my A average all because I failed ONE test and I didn’t even fail that badly I got a 65. But it took my grade from 96 to an 83! Which isn’t the worse but that’s literally my worst progress report grade all year and I’m trying to become valedictorian next year and my competition is the counselor’s kid and another kid who’s mom is a teacher at a different school so she has access to the programs/answer key cause they use the same program at their moms school and they both have straight As.
So it ain’t looking too good for me🫤 rn.
So after getting that bad news about my grade I was really excited for spring break, I was hoping to relax and come back with a fresh mind to raise my grade. And the week started off good, I didn’t have any big plans but I was ready to stay home play my games and do a bit of writing but on the second day my mom says her boss is going to come pick her up and take them to go check out a potential job and tells me watch my younger sisters. And that’s fine - we’re broke we need money and she’s with her boss so she doesn’t have to wait until it’s dark to drive cause out tags are expired and we ain’t got insurance. Well Sunday night she doesn’t come back and I’m like whatever maybe they started working already and they were tired and she spent the night , it’s happen before. Well then Monday AND Tuesday pass and there’s no word from her because she doesn’t have a phone. I’m pissed because I have to put up with my sisters 24/7 while she’s gone but it’s whatever we have food and stuff but on Wednesday I wake up and decide that I’m going reheat some of the food I made and then play my game but as I’m getting out of bed THE POWER GOES OUT. SHE DIDNT PAY THE BILL. It’s our only bill too so that makes it worse. Thankfully she came back a late Wednesday/ early Thursday but we didn’t have any money to pay the bill cause it’s like $500 so we had to stay in town with a family friend and guys… I’m still not home😭
We finally paid the bill after 3 weeks but it’s gonna take 48 hours for them to turn the power back on but I’ll be home by Monday 💪
And this chapter was a bitch to write, I had a bunch of ideas but every time I went to write they all disappeared. I started writing this fix in July of 2023 even though I didn’t publish it till December so the few notes or little tidbits I had written when I first started make no sense 🔫 I am going to go back and edit my spelling and stuff on the other chapter but there won’t be any edits to the actual plot.
Here’s hoping April is better🫰
It’s my birth month 🎉 So it’s already a lot better than march but I got a bunch of stuff happening in April so I can’t say when the next chapter is going to come hopefully not on the last day of April but no promises.Hope y’all had a better month than me
Chapter 6: First Morning

Chapter Text
Izuku laid awake all through the night, half the reason being for the change of scenery. He was at UA! He wanted to run around and explore his dream school. He really wanted to explore the dorms as well, wanting to see if anyone in the classes before them left anything that could be interesting . The other half of him only stayed awake knowing what kind of hell his mind could create under the guise of a dream.
It haunts him even while awake sometimes, he’ll be laying down and suddenly he’s back there . Chained up being poked, prodded, opened up. Sometimes he’ll be cooking and the smell of blood burns nearly as bad as the memories of it. The image of cat-like eyes and a cheshire smile are only slightly less painful than the phantom feeling of scared hands rubbing circles on his back in a soothing manner. Other times he’ll be cleaning and the sterile smell of chemicals brings him back to that damn room and all hears is the beeping and buzzing of machines and an echoing voice, “I’m sorry,Izuku, I’m so sorry”
‘That’s enough of that,’ Izuku thought as he rubbed his eyes and sat up. A quick glance at the clock told him it was nearly 5:30. So he had at most an hour(?) before he could leave his dorm. 6:30 seemed like a reasonable time to be up and about.
Quietly he made his way to his bathroom and turned on the water to the bathtub before going back to pick out his clothes. The water was nice and warm when he returned and sharp difference to the freezing cold water that he had in his last place. He undressed and slipped into the tub, laying back he mentally went over all he knew about his new classmates.
He recognized more of them than he originally predicted.
Numbers 4,15, and 20 being Iida Tenya, Todoroki Shoto, and Yaoyorozu Momo respectively seemed to be 1-A’s high profile students for the year. He had no personal business with Todoroki- their paths never crossed- and the boy still seemed pretty out of it; not entirely unbelievable if you paid attention to the media circus surrounding him but he would try to make the boy an acquaintance for Dabi’s sake at least. He would also try to become acquaintances with Yaoyorozu as well - their paths also never crossed before but he had heard of her or rather her quirk and it fascinated him. And of course he would need to see Iida soon- he hoped the other boy didn’t have any lasting grudges towards him after the whole Stain business and everything. Iida didn’t pay him much attention at dinner yesterday and he hoped that was a good sign and not a result of Nedzu and the other teachers being there. Iida used to be someone he could almost call a friend as one of the few people that didn’t judge him for his lack of quirk.
Now that was a surprise, last night after much contemplation he decided to just go ahead and rip the band-aid off. He already knew his quirkless status couldn’t be hidden for long so he decided to do so on his own terms. It had gone a lot better than he had anticipated.
A soft laugh, ‘you worry too much ‘Zuku”,a graceful smile and soft hands tousled his hair
He shook away the unwanted memory and focused his thoughts back to his new classmates.
There was a surprising amount of vigilantes. High and low profile- he noticed the Shadow Crusader and Justice immediately. Or Students 6 and 8, he supposed. He hoped to ask them how they got those names as he was certain they didn’t choose them themselves. He was also able to identify Hopscotch (student 13) and Static (student 7). More interestingly he was able to identify Student 5 as Zero. A Robin Hood vigilante that was notorious for being able to slip out of police custody.
He also recognized a couple students whom he worked with before. Kyouka Jiro (now Student 12) had been a common associate of his. Her quirk while simple and inconspicuous enough that it was often overlooked made intel gathering a breeze for her. He knew she was reliable and had trade and bought information for her multiple times. He knew Student 11 as well; not as much as Jiro but Izuku recognized him easily enough. Student 11 was one of Slade’s gang’s top enforcers. Izuku had worked with the gang a handful of times throughout his career and remembers seeing 11 a few times. Izuku never would have imagined that he was still a student! He’d heard horror stories about what the enforcers did but he knew of how the gang leader treated those outside his inner circle. 11 could be a valuable associate. He mentally made a note to try and talk with the mutant boy.
There was also Aoyama, Student 1. Izuku swallowed back something vile. He knew Aoyama had recognized him - he’d have to keep the French boy close no matter how many bad memories seeing him brought up. It should be easy enough, Izuku had saved him, after all.
That left Students 2,3,9,10,14,16,17, and 19 as potential blank slates. He hadn’t a clue who they were, of course that could change as he got to observe them but it was exciting.
Noticing his pruning skin, Izuku reluctantly got out of the bathtub and got dressed. He slowly turned the doorknob, lest an alarm start blaring or something.
He poked his head through the door but didn’t see anyone else. He cringed at the sound of the elevator doors opening but got in anyway.
He didn’t see anyone in the common room or kitchen so he figured he must be the first one up or the first one out their room.
He started the coffee pot and put on the kettle before stifling through the kitchen fridge and cupboard looking for something easy yet impressive enough to cook in bulk. Mama did say the quickest way to a person's heart is through their stomach.
—
Kirishima was many things but he had refused to be a coward any longer. It’s what led him to become a vigilante- Justice, they called him as Eijirou wouldn’t pick out something that sounded a little too pretentious. But at UA he wasn’t Justice anymore, he wasn’t even Eijirou Kirishma, he was Student 8. And 8 was the opposite Justice. Where Justice was strong and charismatic, 8 was weak and tactless. While Justice was brave, 8 was cowardly.
There was only one thing Eijirou,Justice, and 8 had in common - their appetite.
So when he smelled something heavenly coming from the kitchen from his 5th floor dorm room, naturally, he had to check it out. He hoped whoever was cooking was generous enough to share, Kirishima is a horrible cook.
Outside his dorm he was met with well the rest of his floor mates. All looking as tired, nervous, and as hungry as him. He flashed them one of Justice’s comforting smiles as he joined them in the elevator.
There wasn’t any small talk which wasn’t as awkward as he would’ve thought. Probably because they were too tired - he wouldn’t be surprised if everyone had trouble sleeping last night.
The group shuffled their way to the kitchen towards the smell of food. In the kitchen stood number 18. His long green and black hair sloppily tied up and he wore an apron on top a regular T-shirt and shorts. Once he noticed the group he shot them with a bright yet nervous smile.
“Good morning”, he said and the group echoed their greetings back. It was silent for a moment before 18 asked, “Are you guys hungry? I’m making breakfast for the class! Erm, it’s not all done but you’re welcome to whatever’s on the table - Oh, I got a kettle ready in case one of you wants tea and there’s coffee in the pot”
Kirishima and the others didn’t need to be asked twice as they made their way to the table. Only 20 stood back to ask about what kind of tea blends they had.
Across the table was a mix of traditional American and Japanese breakfast foods. Steamed rice, Miso soup, grilled fish and a few different sides as well as pancakes, bacon, and hashbrowns. He looked at the stove to see what else 18 could be cooking and saw he was making omelets - Eijirou is definitely getting one of those.
Ahead of him 13 (who seemed oddly familiar?) began loading his plate and yelled back at 18,”Thanks man!” . Kirishima and the others echoed back their own thank you’s.
It wasn’t long before other students came down as well. All slightly hesitant but eventually giving in to 18’s warm presence. The only ones not doing so being 4, a tall bulky boy with glasses, and 17, a boy who looked more tired than everyone else combined and gravity defying hair. 17 opted for a bowl of cereal (though he did drink nearly half the coffee pot) and 4 grabbed some fruit.
18 didn’t seem too offend- he looked like he was expecting it, but Kirishima was on his behalf. One of their classmates got up super early to make food not for themselves but for the whole class and those two didn’t even blink before rejecting him. Still he didn’t want to start a fight so he bit his tongue and made sure to complement everything he tasted and few others followed suit.
Other than that the class ate in silence. Well for a bit, “Damn guys, I ain’t ready to start classes. I know we got like a week but I’m sure as hell going to flunk out ,” said student 7 who Kirishima was starting to think was rather extroverted.
Across the table student 1, a sparkly boy raised his glass of juice in solitary and beside him Aishido (or Student 2 now he guessed) groaned,” Ugh Don’t even remind me about classes! I dunno how I’m going to get through the day let alone the damn week - and school hasn’t even started. Right now I’m just trying to get through these pancakes- Thanks again -erm “
The brightly girl awkwardly stopped, nobody had really introduced themselves. Mostly due to the fact none of them really talked to each other only addressing the others by their number if necessary. It was a little scary realizing that in less than a day they’d gotten used to their demeaning title. 18 didn’t seem too put out of it as he smiled brightly at Aishido and introduced himself,” I’m Izuku Midoriya! It’s nice to meet you”
“Mina Aishido! Don’t be too afraid to call me Mina! And it’s nice to meet you too Midoriya”
Student 4 a frog like girl chimed in, “ I’m Tsuyu Asui, but you guys can just call me Tsu. I’m glad we’re introducing ourselves- the numbers felt dehumanizing”
Kirishima and a few different students nodded their heads. After that people began throwing their names out - some a bit more reluctantly than others but soon Kirishima had a name to put to each face. Even 17 had sloppily signed his name though he did so while acting like the entire matter was beneath him - and god if that didn’t make Eijirou’s blood boil .
Now that they were all more familiar with each other a few conversations began. Tsu, and Uraraka talked passionately about a K-drama they were obsessed with - apparently Tsu was in jail at the time they aired the season finale and Uraraka was basically acting it out. Jiro, Satou, and Mineta were talking about some online RPG they played. Sero, Tokoyami, and Todoroki talked quietly about some new horror manga they all hated. He could see a few others talking but he couldn’t hear what they were saying. The only other thing of interest was Aoyama and Midoriya who seemed to be whispering, he wondered why that was about.
“Kirishima?” That was Mina. The two had gone to same middle school together although they hadn’t been close.
“Mina! It’s great to see you”
The pink girl grinned and drew him into a conversation with Kaminari and Sero. And for the first time since his arrest, Kirishima felt himself begin to feel content.

Tenya Iida was enraged but he was hiding it well. He was at UA - not unsurprising for someone of his ‘status’, he always knew he’d end up here. But he thought he’d be in the hero course, not 1-A, the villain class .
Because Iida was not a villain, no matter what the news, the police, or even his family said. He knew he’d been doing the right thing with Stain even if he knew it would be hard for his family to understand.
He remembers talking to his older brother after his arrest ;
“What the fuck Tenya!”, Tensei had practically yelled in his face. But Tenya’s expression held no remorse or regret.
“I did what needed to be done, Nii-San”
“A person is dead Tenya! Yes! They did horrible things but they needed to be arrested not murdered!”
Tenya only looked at his brother blankly, he knew one day his brother would know he did what was best, that he was a hero.
Still he came to UA with the intention of making the most of it until he saw him.
His hair was a different color and slightly longer. and his face way thinner but his toxic green eyes stayed the same. Had it not been for his intial shock , he would’ve tried to jump the boy as soon as he saw him. Trust Mikumo Akatani (or should he say Izuku Midoriya?) to weasel his way into UA , back into Tenya’s life.
He looked towards the other boy to seem he talking with Aoyama and something was definitely wrong there as anyone with half a brain could tell Aoyama was extremely uncomfortable. Tenya didn’t blame him Mikumo could be unnerving at times.
As if feeling his gaze, Mikumo made a slight gesture towards the door an unspoken - ‘can we talk?’
He gritted his teeth and gave a stern nod. He’d hear him out before he decided on what to do with the bastard. All he knew was that there was nothing he could say that would make Tenya even consider forgiving him.
—-
Kirishima vaguely noted Iida and Midoriya leaving. He made sure to keep an ear out just incase, he didn’t really like the way Iida had been treating Midoriya.
Apparently his fears were unfounded, about three minutes later, the two walk out they came back in with solem expressions but Iida had his arm sling over Midoriya’s shoulder and Midoriya had a soft smile on his face. Midoriya even served him a plate!
It suddenly hit Kirishima that the two must’ve had some history prior to UA. Based on their previous interactions there must’ve been some kind of misunderstanding between the two. Kirishima smiled, besides 17, his classmates weren’t terrible, in all honesty they were actually kind of cool. He felt him smile - a real smile, not one of Justice’s confident ones or 8’s shaky one, a true, genuine smile. Maybe UA wouldn’t be so bad afterall.
Notes:
Y’all… I thought there was 31 days in April 🤦🏽♀️
Hope y’all liked the chapter- I have no idea where Kirishima came from but he jumped into chapter. Also Iida finally made his appearance! He’s my second favorite character. Can’t wait for season 7 to come out!
Sorry about the late chapter, April was the fucking worst.
Next chapter I’m thinking we’ll see more of class 1-A mixing together maybe some backstories
Thanks to everyone who’s left comments! I know I don’t really reply but I do read and appreciate all of them!
I dunno when the next chapter is going to be out but just know that I’m not abandoning this - if I don’t update it’ll probably be bc I don’t have a phone or Wi-Fi I’m saying this bc CPS is gonna come knocking on my door soon ( April really fucking sucked but don’t worry nothing bad happened) I don’t know what if anything is going to come out of that so I’m just being cautious.
Thanks for reading!

Chapter Text
It was almost a decent morning, in Kyouka’s opinion. Nearly everyone was talking, not about anything too meaningful but they were talking and slowly the heavy air around them was beginning to lighten up.
For a moment they could pretend that nothing was wrong, that they were just normal teenagers.
Of course that didn’t last long as their jailer soon made his appearance.
Aizawa walked into the kitchen/dining area with a pinched expression that instantly had Jiro straighten up.
He looked around the group who were mostly bunched together finishing breakfast with a weary and pinched expression.
“What is this ?”
“Breakfast, Sir! Would you like some? It’s super yummy, thanks again Midoriya!” Mina said cheerfully.
Aizawa just shook his head but Jiro noticed the inquisitive glance he sent Midoriya’s way.
“You guys hurry up, you have until 10 to be dressed and ready, we’re going on a campus tour”
That got the class moving, quickly the sound of chairs scraping the floor, forks hitting the plates, and of course general chatter filled her ears.
“A tour of UA? Cool!”
“Oooh, do Ya’ think they let us see the sports festival arena?”
“ Ugh Don’t even mention the sports festival, I don’t even wanna think about what a shitshow it’s gonna be for us”
“ Fuck I forgot we were 1-A”
“How the hell - we’re literally on UA campus?”
“I wonder if we’ll see any staff! Aren’t they all supposed to be heroes?”
“Oh my god! I hope we see 13!”
“Yo! Midoriya don’t worry about the dishes - you cooked, I’ll clean!”
“Oh I’ll help you Sero!”
Very quickly plates were cleaned and leftovers put up and they made their way to their dorm rooms.
Kyouka stood in front of her closets trying to decide what she should wear, there wasn’t really a dress code for villain rehabilitation. Not that she considered herself a villain or a hero for that matter.
Rather she was a reporter which is what she called herself when working underground. With her quirk and programming knowledge she’d dig up all the dirty secrets of politicians, billionaires, heroes, and whatever other corrupt influential persons she could. She could fill books and books about all the skeletons hiding in their closets but of course no publisher would sign her so she created her own website to do it herself.
The times she found stuff that crossed the line, where their secrets were so bad that they deserved much more than being canceled and there wasn’t anything she could do, she’d sell the information to someone who would do something.
And that was her downfall. Her whole website had been based off of the infamous black web site, ‘Hidden under the covers’ which did what she did on a much larger scale, targeting mostly heroes and big time villains, run by the much infamous villain, Void, who had gone silent for a while, inspiring Jiro to try and take up his mantle on a lesser scale. The day Void made his reappearance and had bought info off her had been a very happy day for her.
Unfortunately she wasn’t as careful as she should’ve been. She got sloppy and messed up somewhere while covering her tracks and her home was stormed by police and heroes - hell they had Hawks , the number three hero, banging down her door.
She remembered being harshly put into handcuffs and her parents, while terrified and confused, were screaming and pleading that she was innocent. Nothing hurt her more than knowing she had deeply disappointed them.
That’s why she’s going to do her best at UA. It was very obvious that Jiro had made a lot of powerful enemies, and she was sure if Principal Nedzu hadn’t shown up on her behalf (apparently he was quite fond of her website… she still doesn’t know what to think about that) then they would’ve locked her up permanently without a second thought.
So she’s decided to turn over a leaf so that she can go home as a person her mom and dad can be proud of.
A hesitant knock on her door had her snap back to reality, she opened it and found Yaoyorozu standing nervously in the doorway.
“Um..Hi Yaoyorozu, did you need something?”
Jiro hadn’t really talked to the other girl apart from a basic introduction and Jiro complimenting her blouses. Still Jiro knew more about her than Yaoyorozu probably knew due to her quirk - both a blessing and curse.
“Uh Yes, Jiro-San, I was wondering if you were planning on wearing your uniform or just basic clothes? I’m not entirely sure what is appropriate for this situation…” The black haired girl trailed off awkwardly but Kyouka smiled at her. She didn’t really have any friends before and Yaoyorozu seemed pretty nice and equally dedicated to turning her life around.
“I don’t think we need to wear uniforms since lessons haven’t started and if we did Aizawa should’ve said something” Jiro paused before nervously adding, “ Do..do you wanna help me pick an outfit Yaoyorozu, then I’ll help you? We can be under or over dressed together?”
Yaoyorozu beamed , “That sounds wonderful! Oh - and please call me Momo, Yaoyorozu is a slight mouthful”
Jiro returned her smile with one of her own and let Momo into her room. Hopefully this would be the start of a nice friendship.
—
Momo couldn’t stop smiling as her and Jiro made their way back to the common area together.
She had a friend! A real friend that didn’t care for her quirk or family’s influence. She knew it was a bit presumptuous but she had a feeling that this friendship would work out.
Momo was a bit unlucky when it came to making friends in the past. They were the reason she’d ended up in UA’s villain class.
She had been stupid, gullible, and completely and utterly pathetic . Momo had always felt like there was a barrier between her and her peers, if it wasn’t because of her wealth then it was because of her intellect.
She had been thrilled when she met Kaido, a boy genius only a little older than her whose family was wealthier and more influential than hers.
For the first time in her life Momo felt like she had made a real connection with someone and she would’ve done anything to keep their friendship.
And she did anything and everything he wanted, even if she didn’t want to.
It had been fine at first, innocent even, just sneaking out of her house so that could explore places her parents never would’ve allowed her to go. It was fun , he took her to flea markets, arcades, and public festivals.
Oh how she loved festivals, dressing up and eating street food and the fireworks ! Kaidou had taken her to a festival for her birthday one year and they had the most magnificent time together.
She remembered them hurriedly sneaking back, having stayed out way too late and he lingered in her window, ‘ Was it everything you’d imagined? Yeah? Can I get a reward then?” He had asked.
Momo looked at him confused, why would he get a reward? But he stood there fully confident so perhaps it was a custom she was unfamiliar with. So not wanting to appear rude or stupid, she smiled up at him, “Of course”
And with that he leaned down a gave her a quick kiss and quickly left.
Momo stood there stunned, she had never considered Kaidou as anything more than a friend but after the kiss her stomach was swirling and she had to sit down, everything felt weird but maybe it was just butterflies?
After that their outings became less fun, arcades and festivals had been traded for bars and clubs.
‘Would a kiss make you feel better?’ He would ask when she spoke up saying she didn’t feel comfortable where they were and always before she could respond, he’d take her silence as a yes and when her saw her less than stellar expression afterwards, he’d get angry and say, ‘After everything I’ve done for you a kiss is the least you could. Don’t you like me too? Or has Repunzel just been using me to get out of her tower?’
Momo had been so stupid that she convinced herself that it was fine and that she liked him too. So when he said that he wanted to take their relationship to the next level… she complied.
God, how pathetic was she?
“Momo?” That was Jiro, Momo had gotten lost in thought and her new friend was looking at her concerned, “Are you okay? You kinda went silent and your heart was beating super fast”
“Yes! Sorry about that I was just… lost in thought”
“Alright, well it looks like we’re the first ones here, thank god Aizawa isn’t here, he’s kind of intimidating and not in a good way”
Momo shuddered, “ You don’t need to remind me, I’m the one stuck next to him when we’ve been in number order”
“God, I hate the stupid number thing, I’m glad Midoriya got us to introduce ourselves to each other because being addressed as ‘11’ sucked ”
“Yes, I’m thankful he did that …and that he made breakfast as well, I really can’t cook”
Jiro laughed,”Me too! My dad had to ban me and my mom from the kitchen because the last time we tried to make something we nearly burned down the apartment”
“What were you trying to make?”
“Ice cream”
Momo spluttered, “ Ice cream?! How do you even manage to burn something while making ice cream !”
Jiro opened her mouth to respond but closed it as she tilted her head up. Momo went to ask her what’s wrong but Jiro put her finger to her lips in a shhh way. She looked at Momo hesitantly before plugging the earphone part of her ear into the ceiling, making Momo realize she was listening to something or more likely someone.
They stood quiet for a few minutes before Jiro unplugged her earphone. Momo didn’t even have to ask what happened before Jiro began telling her.
“Sero and Mineta started arguing! Apparently Sero saw Mineta sneaking around our floor and asked him what he was doing because obviously we’re on the last dorm floor and Mineta, I believe is on the first one. And Mineta, the creepy little fuck, admitted to trying to peep in to the girls room - I see why there aren’t any girls on his floor, well Sero got pissed , and rightfully so, and he was all like ‘What the fuck dude!’ and that got Kirishima out of his room and Mineta tried to get Kirishima on his side and that backfired spectacularly as as soon as Mineta said what he was trying to do Kirishima punched him! I hope it was as painful as it sounded. Afterwards Mineta tries to run away but the elevators are in use and once it went back up, Tsu, Ojiro, and Mina walked out as apparently Ojiro heard about what Mineta was doing from Tsu who Mineta nearly caught changing and they went to the elevator where they met Mina who also got super mad when she heard”
Jiro paused and tilted her back again before telling her, “ Oh shit, sounds like Uraraka and Shoji are on their way to the fifth floor, damn Uraraka sounds pissed ! Shoji told her he had caught Mineta on their floor earlier and let him off with a warning and damn Shoji is hella mad too!”
Momo was barely listening anymore. She felt her blood run cold and her body stiffen, she had phantom feelings of unwanted hands and touches all over her body, she - couldn’t stay here. Before she knew it she was running out the dorm. Vaguely she heard Jiro yelling after her ankle monitor beeping loudly.
She didn’t make it far only slightly into the wooded area behind the dorms before she collapsed, she could barely breathe, her head was spinning and heart pounding - she couldn’t breathe, was this a heart attack?
She didn’t know how long she was on the floor before she felt a hand on her shoulder and she screamed , “No please - I don’t want to please , no! ”
She didn’t remember much before she felt a slight pain in her ankle, which she barely recognized as a needle, and she passed out.
—
It wasn’t even ten yet and Aizawa was ready to go back to bed.
He had walked into the dorms that morning already suspicious, usually there was at least one fight or escape attempt before the first morning but all he found was the students eating breakfast and chatting.
It usually took months before the whole class, or what was left of it, to be able to trust each other not to poison the food and sit and eat together.
He had a feeling that the usual wouldn’t apply with this new group, or he did before two of the alarms began blaring.
The first was one from the cameras on the fifth floor - which showed a number of students ganging up on Mineta, there was definitely a story there. The other was from his phone showing that Momo Yaoyorozu had left the dorm without authorization or a staff member.”l
Quickly he ran out to where Yaoyorozu was and he made sure Midnight was on her way to break up the fight.
He found the girl on the ground having a panic attack, clearly there was more to this than an attempted escape.
“Hey, are you alright 20?”,He asked as he put his hand on her shoulder but that was the wrong thing to do as the girl flinched back and wailed, “No please - I don’t want to ,please, no! ”
Yeah, he was definitely missing the bigger picture. He gave an apology although he knew she wouldn’t hear it as he activated the sleeping needle installed in their ankle monitors.
Carefully he picked up the girl and went back to the dorms to assess the situation with Nemuri
“Sensei! Is Momo okay!?”
11, was hanging around the front door and seemed to be very relieved to see 20.
“Student 20 will be fine, what happened?”
“Momo freaked out after hearing what Mineta was doing and she just ran out of the dorms panicking!”
“What did 19 do?”, Aizawa could already feel the headache forming.
“He got caught and admitted to trying to peep in on the girls getting ready”
It was way too fucking early for this.
“Is it safe to assume that’s why he was being attacked?”
“I think corrected would be a better term but yes sensei that’s why”
“Just stay here and tell whoever comes down to stay as well, I need to go asses the situation”
11 nodded and Aizawa gently put Yaoyorozu on one of the couches before going up to the fifth floor. As expected, Midnight was already there and the students laid unconscious under her quirk.
“Nice of you to finally join us, Eraserhead”
Aizawa rolled his eyes, “Did you forget that there was another situation”
“Ah yes, the runaway. How’d that go?”
“Don’t think it was an escape attempt, apparently 20 heard what 19 did and freaked out, she was having a panic attack when I found her, she probably didn’t even realize she left the dorms.”
“What did 19 do? The fight was too rowdy to control so I had to use my quirk immediately upon arrival”
“Supposedly he was caught trying to watch the girls change once 20 was told she began having a panic attack.
Midnight swallowed, it didn’t take a genius to connect the dots.
“I knew 19 was trouble - he’s definitely getting sexual harassment lessons if he’s not already required to do so”
Aizawa nodded that sounded logical, “ We need to start their therapy sessions earlier than usual starting with 20 and 19, we’ll just have to work up the number order this year”
Midnight nodded before looking at the unconscious students with a sigh, “ Recovery girl won’t be happy, they haven’t even been on campus a day”
Aizawa shrugged, “It’s never too early to go to Recovery Girl”
Nemuri rolled her eyes and called for the medical bots to be sent to the dorms, “That’s the reason she calls you her worst patient”
Notes:
Surprise! Here’s a chapter before the 30/31.
Here we got Jiro’s backstory as to why she is in 1-A along with some of Momo’s past, can you guess why she got in 1-A?
Jiro also mentions Void, an infamous villain on the dark web who exposes heros and villains, who she had previously sold info to, wonder who that could be 🤔
I know some of y’all wanted there to be a fight, and while we didn’t get to see Mineta get the shit kicked out of him know that the other 1-A kids did not hold back.
Momo is literally one of my favs guys, it hurt to hurt her 😭 originally she had a different backstory but I changed it cause it was way too similar to another class 1-A member and I try to give them all different pasts.
Also did y’all see chapter 423 spoilers? I had to put my phone down and walk around after I saw them bc Mha is nearly over and I’ve been in fandom for so long it hurts to see the story finish.
Don’t know when the next chapter will be but it’ll be about the aftermath - and maybe we’ll see how other UA staffs thinks of 1-A
Thanks for reading!
Anyway here’s a personal update/rant feel free to skip:
Fuck me if I’m jinxing this but May has been a pretty decent month for me, I had a lot of writing inspo not only or this fic but some of my soon to be published wips, as well.
School ends Thursday, thank god, but being a senior sounds kinda serious :/
And idk about my physics grade but I got my grade for Algebra 2 for the 6 weeks and it was an 93! Hopefully my final grade will be an A as well bc besides the 85 I got low A’s every other six weeks. And I had a 100 in comp sci for every report card besides one time where it was a 96 and maybe this six weeks as well but my final grade for that class should be like an 98 or smth which is definitely higher than the counselors kid and I know that for sure since we have the same comp sci class. And we had an essay for English that I definitely got a better grade than him and the girl w/ the teacher logins and I got 49/50 on our last test for the year. So I should raise my class rank from 3rd to 2nd or hopefully 1st.
I’m going to lock in next year bc if I want to get in my desired University then I need to be valedictorian and if they’re still beating me, I’m 100% gonna expose the girl with the logins for cheating 🤷🏽♀️
I gotta do what I gotta do 😭
The counselors kid’s grades dropped bc he had a sports injury so he’ll be focused on academics this year instead of sports cuz he still can’t play so I’m wishing him a speedy recovery and praying that the girl gets pregnant or smth
It sounds mean but I need the money that comes with being Valedictorian since I’m hella poor, like it’s not even funny how broke I am, our lights are STILL off, they cut our power over spring break and it’s basically summer vacation. I really don’t want to take out a loan - I don’t even know if I can.
So my summer will be busy with trying to get a job, looking for scholarships, and ofc watching Mha season 7. I’m hoping to go see the new movie when it comes out!
Chapter 8: Trauma Bonding
Summary:
TW: Mention non con and rape of a minor by a family member among other things
! Please take note that this fic now has the tag Dead Dove: Do Not Eat
Though it won’t get that much more dark than this
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Sero’s head hurt, he began to open his eyes before quickly closing them as the bright light felt blinding.
He laid on his bed, or rather a bed, he isn’t quite sure where he is, last he remembers he was about to hang that little pervert on the ceiling with his tape while Asui,Mina, and Uraraka beat him like a piñata before a pink misty fog filled the hall and he passed out.
Slowly he tried to open his eyes again and sit up. He blinked a few times as his eyes adjusted to the light and he looked around the room. He was definitely in the infirmary. His unconscious classmates, with the exception of Mineta, laid in beds next to his. It looked liked he was the first one up.
“How are you feeling, dear?”
Sero jumped at the unexpected voice and found Recovery Girl standing near his bed side - her short stature had helped hide her from his line of sight.
“Um - I feel fine ma’am”
The old woman nodded and handed him a few gummy’s, “Yes, I thought so but it’s better to be safe than sorry, eat these - they’ll help restore your energy and trust me when I say your going to need it for whatever punishment Aizawa-San comes up with”.
Sero huffed suddenly upset, “It’s not like we did anything wrong! The bastard was tryna peep on the girls- hell he’s lucky he only got off with what? A broken bone or two and couple bruises? I’ve done worse to guys for that!”
Recovery Girl sighed,” I’ll take a guess and say you were a vigilante,” she paused while Sero gave a brief but proud nod,”Then you won’t like to hear this but you need to understand this, especially if you wish to actually graduate from the reformat program; you cannot take matters into your own hands - there’s a system with rules and regulations for a reason and yes not everyone follows and respects those rules but that’s why we have people whose job is to enforce them and punish the ones who break them, you may not agree with whatever punishment they may face but it is not up to you to take matters into your own hands when you think the punishment doesn’t fit the crime.”
Sero gritted his teeth in an attempt to not talk back to the old woman, it was a difficult endeavor but he managed a polite nod and Recovery Girl walked away to check on the other students, though it was obvious to them both that he completely disregarded what she told him.
She looked like she hadn’t expected anything else after all she’s been at UA a long time and has probably seen dozens of 1-A kids like him but none of them were him. They didn’t go through what he did, didn’t see what he did, and most importantly they weren’t forced to do what he had to do.
He laid back down and tried to put his thoughts together- he a hundred percent didn’t regret beating the little fucker but he would regret getting kicked out of UA. While he hated the whole damn program Sero promised Mai and the boys that he would get through it so they could be together again once he got out of UA with his clean record.
“Um…Hello?” A voice called out and it took Sero a second to register it as Yaoyorozu. Which was odd as Sero didn’t remember her being in the fight but her room was also on the fifth floor -
Sero froze - what if the reason he didn’t see her was because Mineta had already done something to her? He’d never ever forgive himself for letting that happen underneath his nose again.
He sat up and turned to look at her, she was across from him few beds over. She didn’t look like she was hurt but the twins never looked hurt either.
“Are..are you alright, Sero?” Yaoyorozu asked nervously and Sero snapped out of it.
“Y-yeah Yaoyorozu, just a little out of it still - I think I fell head first on the ground when we got knocked out.”
“Knocked out?”
“Yeah cuz’ of the fight? Isn’t that why your here?” Sero questioned innocently, knowing it wouldn’t do her any good to interrogate right then.
Yaoyorozu bit her lip, looking ashamed, “Ah, no, I remember hearing about the fight - me and Jiro were already in the common room when the fight begun- but just hearing about what Mineta tried to do it - ugh I’m just so pathetic, I ran out of the dorms, it was frightening ; everything around me was spinning and it was like I was back there and… I don’t know, I assume the ankle tracker went off, I believe I heard it beeping but I was too wrapped up to comprehend what was going on! I think… Aizawa-Sensei came to get me and oh gosh I totally lashed out at him! ” The girl put her face in her hands, voice wobbly she continued, “Oh - im definitely going to get expelled! What am I going to do? It hasn’t even been a full day since we’ve arrived!”
“ Woah - Calm down, it sounds like you had a panic attack, you must’ve had a flash back to…whatever you survived through. You weren’t in the right sound of mind, if UA is half as righteous as they claim to be then you got nothing to worry about! At most they’ll give you a slap on the hand, it’s that little purple bastard that should be packing his bags!”
Yaoyorozu wiped her tears, looking just the smallest bit better. It seemed that Mineta hadn’t done anything to her but tigger a panic attack, unfortunately it was looking like someone else had done something to her of that nature before. It made his blood boil- he should be out on the street catching all those bastard but no he’s being forced to stay at UA.
“Thank you, Sero, I feel much better now”
Sero waved off the apology, “I didn’t do anything special, just told you the truth”
“No for that and for… taking care of Mineta-kun”
Sero puffed his chest out proudly and boasted,” Of course, beating creeps is what Hopscotch does best”
She looked confused, “Hopscotch?”
“My vigilante name - I specialized in beating pervs and pedos”
Yaoyorozu gave a small giggle, “A noble endeavor but might I ask how you ended up with the name Hopscotch?”
Sero smile became a bit more strained , “It, it’s not the funniest story - it’s tied into why I started doing what I did in the first place”
She looked intrigued and nodded for him to continue.
Sero swallowed, he didn’t like talking about it but maybe it would help Yaoyorozu open up to him about what happened to her then once he got out he’d pay the bastard that hurt her a vist. So with a quick look around to make sure nobody else was awake or in the room he told her his story.
“ I guess it all starts with my parents, they had a Romeo and Juliet thing going on. My Pa was from Mexico and he came from a very religious family. My…mom was Japanese but her family was very traditional . They met while my dad was on a business trip in Tokyo and fell in love. My paternal family was against it because my mom wasn’t catholic and refused to convert and my maternal family was against it because Pa was a foreigner and ‘a dark skinned one at that’. But neither of them cared, they were disowned after they married so they chose a new family name together. Then they had me and two years later they had my twin sisters; Mai and Rin, and then my little brother Hikaru . Everything was fine until Pa died while mom was pregnant with my baby brother Sora when I was 6. After losing her husband and going through a traumatic birth alone, mom shut done, she was barely functioning enough to eat and sleep. I was the one responsible for taking care of everything and everyone once she’d shut down. After a year all the money in the savings account ran out and we got evicted. We were flat broke since mom quit her job after the twins and hadn’t even applied for a job after dad died. We didn’t have any family that would take us in or send money so we went to a homeless shelter.”
Sero paused and took a deep breath before he spoke, it had been years but he was still pissed off talking about him ,“That’s where she met that bastard Yuki Abe, he was a frequent volunteer at the shelter and mom fell head over heels for him. I was a fucking idiot and was happy about it because even though I missed Pa, mom was finally acting like her old self; she packed lunches, helped with homework, stopped drinking as much, and it was all thanks to Yuki. Hell, he even got her a high paying job at his friend's company.
After a year together they got engaged and we moved into his apartment. It was big but not big enough for all the kids to have our own rooms so the twins shared and my brothers shared with each other. And for a while everything was fine , mom was happy and Yuki was able to respect that I didn’t want him trying to be a dad to me like he was with my siblings. But then the summer before my first year of middle school, about four years after mom and Yuki started dating, twins asked to talk to me while mom and Yuki were out. They - they told me Rin was pregnant ”
Yaoyorzu gasped, looking horrified and Sero knew she had probably put the pieces together already but continued on.
“Of course I freaked out, Mai and Rin were nine . So I asked them the obvious; ‘Are you sure?’, ‘what happened’, ‘who did it?’,and told them ‘We need to tell mom and Yuki’, that’s when they freaked out . After they calmed down they told me what was happening.
It started about half a year after mom and Yuki started dating. He would linger during hugs and ask for a kiss on the lips rather than on the cheek and when they told mom it made them feel uncomfortable she flipped out on them, calling them little liars and yelled at them asking if they wanted her to be miserable forever just because our dad died. So they kept silent even when he started…started touching them because they didn’t wanna get in trouble again. But then one day, mom walked in on him molesting Mai and you would think she’d do what any sane parent - hell any sane person would do and call the police but instead the bitch began yelling at Mai, accusing her of seducing her husband!
Like she was some kind of home wrecking hooker instead of her nine year old daughter! They told me it got worse after that, since the bitch basically gave him permission to continue. He’d sneak into their room at night more often and take them on overnight “Daddy-daughter trips” where who knows what happened because they never told me what he did there other than “it was worse than what he did at the apartment” I was furious when they told me and wanted to confront them both right away but the twins begged me not to. They said they wanted my help getting the baby out but of course I was 11 and not a doctor so it was limited with what I could do. So one day after much convincing, I lied to mom and Yuki and told them I was taking the twins and the boys to the park and instead took them to police office. But they didn’t do anything but tell us to stop lying and calling out mom to come pick us up”
Yaoyorzu gave a solem nod - she too knew how it felt to be turned away from the police in that situation. Her heart hurt for Sero’s little sister, Momo could barely handle what happened to her at 13 she couldn’t imagine it happening at 5 and going on for years in her own house, condemned by her own flesh and blood. Yet Sero wasn’t done talking and she had a feeling that his story wasn’t going to end in a high note.
“It got worse after that for all of us, I was locked up in my room and never let out since it had an attached bathroom. My sisters weren’t allowed to even stand near my door and got screamed at if they thought they were lingering near and the fucking bastards told my brothers that I did something bad - that I was a villain, the fucking audacity those piece of shits had still amazes me. About two weeks before school started my mom came into my room and beat the absolute crap outta me and told me if I told anyone anything then they’d send me away and tell people I was the one who raped Rin and got her pregnant.”
“What! That’s disgusting - wait they knew about the pregnancy and didn’t do anything,” Momo asked.
Sero clenched his fist and spoke even angrier than before, “ Yup the assholes at the police department told them everything we reported. Fucking laughed with them saying they’d never had a kid tell such an insane lie before. Apparently after that mom and Yuki had the bright idea to let Rin stay pregnant and then pass the baby off as theirs. They enrolled Rin in online classes and mom took some time off at work before going back and telling everyone in the office that she and Yuki were expecting. So for the first two-ish months of school they would lock Rin in my room so she couldn’t escape or call for help and me and Mai were forced to take the boys to school and go to class like nothing was wrong.”
Sero paused and took a deep breath, voice shaking, “ One day…on our way back to the apartment, half the side of the building was taped off and surrounded by police and ambulances and even a couple heroes and news vans. I told Mai to watch the boys and snuck past the police tape to go see what happened. Rin…Rin had jumped from my bedroom window - and, and passed away,”
“ Oh Sero,” Momo said tearfully,” I’m so sorry”
Sero wiped the tears from his eyes but his voice was still shaky, “ Thank you… well to spare you the extra stuff, mom and Yuki went to jail and since we didn’t have any family we were split up in foster care. I’ll admit, I was definitely acting out and causing trouble intentionally, hoped that if I caused a big enough of scene then they’d give in and let me see Mai, Hikaru, and Sora but what really happened was they’d ended up putting me in homes where the foster parents just didn’t give a shit and didn’t care about locking us up if we pissed them off. It was my second shitty home where I met Kataoka, she was the foster’s actual daughter. She was always nice to me, snuck me snacks and games, whenever she could. Well one day we were talking while her parents were out and she tells me that her older brother had been acting weird towards her and had even tried peeping on her in the shower and that when she told her parents they didn’t believe her. Of course that pissed me off, her brother didn’t live with them but they next time he was over well I beat the shit outta him when I caught him lurking around her bathroom door. Their parents freaked but thankfully didn’t try to fight me, I didn’t bother waiting for my social worker to pick me up, I just stormed out with my school bag. I lived on the streets for a while altering between back alley’s and homeless shelter and you wouldn’t believe the amount assholes that try to take advantage of homeless teens. In the first month, I’d been propositioned multiple times, nearly kidnapped, and almost raped. I was able to fight them off but I couldn’t stop thinking of all the other kids in similar situations who weren’t able to fight back so I started actively looking creeps and gathered evidence against them and once I had enough I gave ‘em a thrashing and dropped their unconscious bodies off at the police station with the evidence taped to their head. Once, I helped a boy, a little younger than me -I think he was still in elementary, who was being pimped out and he asked me what my name was, I told him but he said he meant what my hero name was. I never wanted to be a hero, never thought of myself as one even while beating pervs I just thought I was doing a good deed but that made me stop. I couldn’t believe someone looked up to me that way and didn’t have the heart to the kid I didn’t have a hero name and was by law a criminal, so I blurted out Hopscotch, because that’s what Rin wanted her hero name to be. I thought it would be one time thing but then another vigilante asked me later on if I had a code name and I said Hopscotch again and the name just kinda stuck.”
For a few moments the two of them sat in silence before Yaoyorzu spoke up.
“His name was Kaidou,” her voice cracked, “ I thought he was my friend . My family was super overprotective and I wasn’t the most sociable, other kids thought I was looking down on them because of how they talked and acted but I wasn’t, I just didn’t know any better. He came from a more wealthy family than I did, he was a few years older than I was - I thought of him like a cool older cousin but I guess he never saw me for anything other than m-my body ,” She paused, taking a moment to stop her voice from shaking,
“He had a teleportation type quirk and would sneak in and out of my room and take me to all places I wasn’t allowed to go, he called it ‘our secret’. One day he kissed me and I didn’t stop and things escalated after that he stopped taking me to nice places and brought me shady places where I was basically just his arm candy ! I was so stupid , I convinced myself that it was fine that I liked him back but my skin burned every time he touched me. The times I got close to breaking things off, he changed and became like his old self and I just couldn’t , he’d done so much for me - “
“ You’re not stupid Yaoyorzu ,” Sero said softly yet sternly, “Those kinds of guys don’t help out of the goodness of their hearts, they do it so you have a harder time saying no, it’s a manipulation tactic.”
Momo gave him a wobbly smile, like she appreciated his support but didn’t entirely believe him. Quietly she continued speaking,
“ One day he wanted to ‘take it to the next level’ and I said no but he kept badgering me that eventually I just didn’t say anything and just laid there. It kept happening and I kept saying no but every time he’d wear me down to where I was just too exhausted to care anymore but one day, one day I had enough . It had already been a horrible day, all I wanted was to lay down and go to sleep but I wasn’t in bed for longer than five minutes before he’s in my room asking for sex and I said no. I didn’t give in that time,I said no , screamed at him to go away not to touch me but he didn’t listen. We fought and the servants heard and forced him out. My parents took me to the police station to report him but his family twisted the story. They claimed we were in a consensual relationship and that I attacked him for no reason. His family has close connections with the local law enforcement so of course they believed him and I was the one who got in trouble.”
“What the fuck?! That’s seriously messed up and I’m so sorry that happened to you Yaoyorzu, you didn’t deserve any of that. Don’t worry once I’m outta here that piece of shit won’t know what hit him.”
“There’s no need for you to go out of your way Sero, I’m sure he’ll get his comeuppance sooner or later,” she hesitated for a second before adding, “ And you didn’t deserve that either Sero and please call me Momo.”
Sero smiled, “Okay Momo”
Notes:
Sorry for the late update guys 😭
Here's Sero and Momo’s backstories. My original notes for his backstory from last year just said ‘vigilante’ so I just rolled with that till I finished last chapter and got the idea for this chapter to have him be the one to comfort Momo, which led me to make him have specifically beat up creeps and pedos, which led to me creating his family and story with them.
I don’t know what happened with that tbh, I started writing and it was going to go that he caught his step dad molesting his little sister and nd beat the crap outta him but got kicked out cause his mom didn’t believe him and then the police didn’t either so he became a vigilante while living on the streets but it got way darker and I ended up liking how the current version was so I scraped the original - I had toyed with the idea of Rin having actually had the baby but the killed it afterwards but I thought that was a bit too much.
Momo as I mentioned before had a different backstory originally. At first her story was similar to Hagakure’s; where her friends pushed her into a line of crime due to her quirk but instead of spying it was money laundering as Momo would make them actual jewels and gold and stuff and the only reason she ended up in UA was because her parents paid for her seat - she would’ve been a complete dick too, until the rest of 1-A and the teachers dragged some sense into her and she became more like she was in cannon.
Next chapter should be Aizawa actually handing out a punishment, this chapter’s original name was “Actions have consequences, even the good ones” which is why I set up that conversation between Recovery Girl and Sero but Sero and Momo took over the chapter.
Tell me if you want me to do what I did at the end of this chapter and tell y’all how different some of 1-A’s backstories are from my original idea once they’ve revealed their full backstory. As of this chapter we fully know, Tokoyami’s, Hagakure’s, Shinsou’s, Jiro’s and of course Momo and Sero’s.
Regardless, I'm 100% gonna do this for Deku because his story has gone through the most changes.
I might write about what Bakugou’s backstory was bc I had a draft of this where he was in 1-A, after he’s introduced in the story.
Hope y’all liked the chapter, since it’s summer I’ve had a bit more time to write but of course there’s always writer's block. I wrote most of this chapter in May but for the love of me I could not get the second half out. I’ve also got A LOT of unpublished wips I’m working on spread over different fandoms - in regards to Mha I’ve been trying to write an Assassination Classroom x MHA crossover fic with Izuku in 3-E and an AU where Aizawa is Izuku’s bio dad, no idea if imma publish them or not if they end up going somewhere but if I do it won’t be until I’m farther along with this fic.
Hope y’all have a great month! Thanks for reading!
Chapter Text
Rikido Sato was having a surprisingly good time. He had been dreading coming to UA ever since he got accepted but it wasn’t anything like he imagined. Their dorms were good quality and so was the food they provided. Aizawa was definitely intimidating but he didn’t seem like he had it out for them.
The inner workings of 1-A were unknown to the public. They were only ever publicly referred to by their number and why each student was given their number was unknown to the public, most speculated they were numbered based on how dangerous they were, Sato thought they’d be disappointed to know they were numbered alphabetically by last name, Aoyama being number 1 and Yaoyorzu being 20.
The class makes their first public appearance during the UA Sports festival where they compete amongst the other first years. It basically becomes ‘heroes vs villains’ where 1-B does everything to show off their quirks against their ‘evil’ classmates. Usually Rikido was perfectly fine watching that but it had since sunk in that he was going to be a practice dummy on live international television.
Besides the sports festival, a few 1-A members would do interviews to show how they were progressing and how much they’ve changed since joining UA. Sato wasn’t worried he’d get interviewed as the ones selected were the ones whose cases had too much publicity- whether it was because of what they did or who their family was.
Rikido didn’t do anything too bad, he was just involved in drugs and he didn’t even take a lot of them! He just made and distributed some and yeah okay maybe it wasn’t the best or most legal way to earn money but he needed it! When you’ve hit rock bottom you become desperate enough to do anything to crawl your way back up.
Anyway he wasn’t worried that he’d get interviewed but he was worried that his friend would. Sato wasn’t too surprised to see Shoto at UA - as if Endeavor would ever fully let his masterpiece go - but he was surprised to find out that their rooms were next to each other. UA must not have found out about their previous transactions . Or maybe they did and thought they’d be better near someone they knew. Either way Rikido wasn’t upset, he’d been worried about the other boy and was glad to see him alive and well - or as well as he could be while going through withdrawal.
“Rikido” Speak of the devil. The dual colored boy’s door opened up as soon as Sato left his own room, he must have been waiting by the door to listen for when he left. His awkwardness would’ve been more amusing if he didn’t know why the boy was so socially stunted.
“Hey Shoto, what’s up?”
“Do you know what’s going on? I know Aizawa was explaining earlier but…”
“You zoned out? That’s fine, man. Apparently Mineta - student 19, super short, weird purple hair - was trying to peep in on some of the girls changing and got caught and some of the guys and most of the girls took matters into their own hands. Midnight came by and knocked them out with her quirk. He said to not leave the dorms until everything got sorted out.”
Shoto nodded,”Did he say what they were going to do to them?”
“Nope, he just told us to behave and stay put. None of them have returned but I did see some medical bots come into the dorms to get ‘em so I think they took them to Recovery girl to well recovery, they might not have woken up yet,” Sato shrugged off the slimy feeling he had of having had a pleasant conversation with Mineta that morning, he didn’t want to be associated with someone like that ,” I'm going down to the kitchen to bake something, you wanna come with?”
Shoto nodded and the two of them went down to the kitchen area only to find Midoriya and Iida already there.
“Oh! Hey guys,” Midoriya greeted them happily. Beside him, Iida nodded at them.
Rikido thought they looked like an odd duo. Iida was built like a stack of bricks and his natural expression seemed to be a scowl. Iida was student 4 so he’d already been on the bus when Sato was picked up and he was the only person he was immediately intimidated by. He knows it’s bad to judge a book off its cover but he can’t help thinking that Iida looks exactly like he belongs in 1-A.
Midoriya, on the other hand, looks like he belongs anywhere else. He was short - definitely one of the shortest boys in the class, and had his long green curls tied up with a white bow. He always seemed to be smiling or at least trying to.
The only slightly similar thing they have in common are their eyes. Iida’s narrow red eyes and Midoriya’s large green ones always seemed somewhat angry . Iida’s were more prominent, despite speaking in a polite albeit cold tone he wasn’t going to hide his anger at being here. Midoriya’s was more hidden in fact had he not been watching the other boy whispering with Aoyama that morning he would never have noticed it but now that he had he just couldn’t unsee it. Satou couldn’t blame the green haired boy though, he too was angry, not angry at being in UA necessarily but angry that he’d been caught. He assumed Midoriya was feeling the same way, he didn’t know what the other boy was cable of but it couldn’t be much. He wouldn’t be surprised if they had similar charges, he just couldn’t picture him being involved in anything too deep.
“Hello,” Shoto said blandly.
“Hey, what are you guys up to?” Satou couldn’t help but ask.
“Just making some late lunch, I know things got a bit … messy earlier with the fight that happened and well I’m a bit of stress cooker and so I thought I make some food for us and the others when the come back, assuming they weren’t…” Midoriya’s voice trailed off but everyone knew what he was going to say; assuming they weren’t expelled .
Being expelled from 1-A wasn’t anything to scoff at. Even after serving their time in prison they’d become a social pariah once they got out, most were forever marked as “unfixable” by society. It was quite the scandal when last year’s entire class was expelled.
“Well, I didn’t make anything too fancy just curry, it’s almost done if you both want some. Anyway what are you guys up to?”
“That’s ironic, you’re s stress cooker, I’m a stress baker. We came down to make some brownies,” Satou told them.
Midoriya’s face lit up,”I love brownies, do you need some help?”
Satou looked to Shoto to see if he disagreed but he just gave a small nod,”Yeah of course you can help!”
Shoto went ahead to the kitchen to start looking for bowls and pans but Sato slowed down to hear what Midoriya said to Iida.
He could only just make out his last two words; “…Touya’s brother”
Huh, wonder what that’s about.
—
Now that the adrenaline was gone Ochacko was really starting to regret her actions. She could clearly see where this was going - she was going to be expelled. For fucks sake - it hadn’t even been a full day, in her head she cursed the little purple bastard, if he had been able to keep to himself then none of this would have ever happened.
She couldn’t go to prison, she’d never survive. There was no way they wouldn’t throw the whole book at her, she’d taken too much and made too many enemies, they’d give her the maximum sentences for each of crimes and while it was never anything too bad she had a lot of charges against her. Not that she really regretted what she did, in fact, she’d do it all again if she had too. So she stole a little money? She needed it more than those billionaires did and they barely even noticed it was gone half the time!
She glanced around her to see if the little fucker was there but sadly someone had enough sense to not put him in the same room as the ones who jumped him. She saw everyone else looking down with varying degrees of anger and sadness. The social butterfly part of her wanted to say something to try and cheer them up but she couldn’t think of anything she could say that might make this situation better.
There were seven others, excluding herself and the pervert, nearly half the class. She’d introduced herself to them of course but she only really talked to Tsu that morning. She also wasn’t a hundred percent sure of all their names. Vaguely she registered Sero and Yaoyorzu(?) as well as Shoji and Mina having quiet conversations but the others were completely silent. Tsu sat looking at the white wall unblinking and to be honest it was a little unnerving. She went to say something- anything to her only friend in UA but before she could even open her mouth the door to the infirmary swung open.
First came in Recovery Girl hobbling along with her cane with a pinched expression, then Miss Midnight and behind her with his head held down was Mineta. She would’ve lunged forward to keep beating him - she was already going to be expelled so why not go out with a bang? But Aizawa quickly came in after him.
It was dead silent, all of them looked at the floor, well she and a couple others glared at it but it was the same.
It was Recovery Girl who broke the silence, muttering as she paced around the room asking if they had any lingering problems and checking them over. She finished far too fast for Uraraka’s liking, quickly leaving them to Aizawa’s mercy.
“One day,” he began, voice already filled with exasperation,” not even one day and there has already been a fight. Never in all my time teaching 1-A has this happened before. I explicitly told all of you that if you caused too many problems, then you’d be expelled.”
He paused to let it sink and she wanted to protest. They knew they fucked up, there was no need to rub it in their faces.
Their teacher sighed,” However , after much deliberation between me and Midnight we decided that it would be more beneficial to you all if you stayed at UA,”
Uraraka could hardly believe it, she looked up so fast she nearly gave herself whiplash. The others stared at the man with disbelief, they all thought they were done for. Mineta too looked up at the man in shock.
“Don’t get too comfortable. All of you will be getting a deduction in your allowance and will be on cleaning duty on the main campus for the next three weeks. However if you pull another stunt like this then you will be expelled.”
“Also,” Midnight began, “ Starting tomorrow each of you will begin therapy sessions with UA’s guidance counselor, Hound Dog. This is not a punishment necessarily but rather standard procedure for every member of 1-A, it’s just that you guys are starting it early.”
Ochacko nodded along, that sounded fair enough. Although she glared at Mineta, she thought he should have gotten a harsher punishment. Sero, also didn’t look pleased with this arrangement but held his tongue.
Soon enough they were lined up and being marched back to the dorms. UA turned out to be a lot bigger than she had imagined. It was a little eerie walking through the empty halls but she wasn’t really excited for classes to start. She already knew how she’d be treated by the other, ‘regular’ students.
‘ Well,’ She later thought to herself as she sat the table with her fellow 1-A members, ‘at least these guys are okay’
Notes:
Erm…late chapter ik but whatever 🤷🏽♀️ Didn’t have Wi-Fi to update and I just couldn’t focus on this chapter, I think this is my worst written chapter so far.
Guess who got their senior class schedule 😬 I literally have tutorials 1st period and I got a new computer science teacher 😞🔫 I hope they don’t expect me to know how to code. School starts August 13 so either next chapter will be in early August or late August/early September, it’s not ideal but I gotta adjust back to schedule. I’m hoping to talk to my guidance counselor and see if I can take dual credit again, I tried it once in freshman year but flunked out 😬 in my defense the class was boring and I had a lot of shit going on at home. So that might take up a good chunk of my time but rest assured I’m not dropping this fic and if I do it won’t be without an explanation of why and what would’ve happened in the story.
Anyway MHA is almost over Y’all 😭 still can’t believe it, are y’all excited for the new movie?
Hope y’all liked the chapter, sorry it was kinda short. What did y’all think of Sato, who has unknowingly fallen for Izuku’s doe-eyed persona? Also SHOTO!!!We got our first look at him along with some hints to his backstory! We also got Uraraka! She like Sero and Iida doesn’t regret her actions, wonder if she’ll change her mind 🤔 There was also Mineta but who wants to talk about him🤢 I know y’all might’ve been hoping that he’d get expelled but it didn’t work out that way. Oh and there was a little more lore of 1-A and how it works.
Next chapter… I dunno, I haven’t planned it out; Teachers meeting? Tour of UA? Montage of 1-A’s first week together? More backstories? Therapy Sessions with Hound Dog? Non-UA character POV? I haven’t decided yet.
Thank y’all for reading commenting, I hope y’all liked the chapter and you can find me @Midnight-Lurker on Tumblr, I don’t post much about MHA but that might change and y’all can ask me stuff there too if you want. Hope all of you have a nice August.
Chapter 10: Dorm Life
Chapter Text
Thankfully, things began to cool down after the first day with Mineta doing everything he could to stay out of the girl’s way. 1-A quickly fell into routine with Iida and Midoriy taking charge. Iida was in his element, organizing stuff and making a list of what needed to be done in dorms and together with Midoriya who was highly regarded by most of the others, they were able to make a system so life in the dorm could run smoothly.
“This is gonna be our home for the next year,” Midoriya told them,”So even if you don’t like it, we should do our best to take care of it”
The others agreed without much fuss and soon the whiteboard in the common room was filled with a chores schedule. Although the schedule was fair and no one complained when assigned their chore, nobody could’ve predicted how much of a disaster it turned out to be, maybe they should’ve considered if they could’ve done a task before signing up for it.
—
Izuku loved to cook, the memories of cooking with his mama with their favorite drama or the radio playing in the background are some of his most cherished memories. He’d been cooking with her since he was 6 and before that he was stirring the bowl or sloppily chopping up vegetables under his mom’s supervision. It was just something that felt natural to him, so it had never occurred to him that there were people who simply did not know how to cook.
“ Okay,” he thought, “ tonight me, Todoroki, Tokoyami, and Mina are on dinner duty. This would will be the perfect opportunity to get close to at least one of them”
“What should we make,” Tokoyami asked the group. He wasn’t well versed in the kitchen but he could make the basics like eggs or rice.
“Oh! How about we make soba ,” Mina said excitedly. She didn’t have much cooking experience but she could boil water for instant Ramen and she made a mean pot of spaghetti.
“I like soba,” Todoroki chimed in, his bastard sperm donor had kept him on a strict diet and had his meals prepared by a personal chef and once he left that house, he was getting by on scraps and gas station food so he had rarely ever touched a stove - let alone make his own meal but how hard could it be?
“Soba it is!” Izuku smiled, it was easy enough and they could make a big batch of it to feed all twenty of them, “ Although we’re gonna have to settle for box noodles- we’re too short on time to make some homemade -“
“Woah Midoriya, you know how to make noodles from scratch!” Mina said impressed
“Yep! It’s actually pretty simple, if you want I can teach you how to make them too?” Izuku offered with a slight smirk, Aishido seemed pretty friendly, it wouldn’t be hard to get close to her and he wouldn’t be surprised if she had faced her own fair share of bullying and discrimination due to her mutant appearance and as sad as it sounds they could definitely bond over their bad experience with quirkist assholes.
She was genuinely bright and happy - as far as he could tell anyway, she definitely seemed the popular type and maybe it was a little mean but she seemed a bit naïve, he could use someone like that. Tenya’s great , and Izuku is glad they were able to get rid of most of the animosity between them but to most people Tenya can come off as intimidating and unapproachable while Mina seems like the kind of person who people feel safe pouring their heart out to. Plus, Tenya won’t be blindly following his words again any time soon, the wound too fresh to fully ignore but Izuku is sure with time Iida will come to understand his past decisions
Mina smiled brightly,”Yeah totally! That’ll be so cool! Thanks Midoriya!”
Izuku smiled back,”Of course! It’s no trouble at all. Alright, Soba and I’m thinking Tamagoyaki* and Gomaae*, does that sound good to you guys?”
The others nodded and Izuku assigned them their task and they quickly got to work.
Izuku and Tokoyami were prepping the salad in n a comfortable silence until they smelled something burning.
Izuku turned around and saw Todoroki staring unblinkingly at smoking pot. He rushed quickly and pushed the dual colored boy away and put the pot on the non hot part of the stove before looking into it.
…..
“Todoroki, did you put the noodles into the pot without water?”
“I was supposed to put in water?”
The three others stared at the boy, not quite sure if he was joking or not.
“Yes…,” Izuku trailed off not wanting to be rude then took several deep breaths, everything was fine, they had plenty of noodles, and they didn’t even take that long to cook, “ Alright Todoroki, why don’t you come chop vegetables with me and Tokoyami can you take care of the noodles?”
Both boys agreed and Izuku spent a painful ten minutes watching Todoroki cut the vegetables into the most heinous and uneven pieces he’d ever seen until the next problem occurred.
“FUCK!”
Izuku turned around quickly, the loud shout and smell of smoke immediately caught his attention. Mina stood looking panicked as she held a flaming pan. Unfortunately before he could react, a shadow bird (what the actual fuck?) sprouted from behind Tokoyami, who was closest to Mina(and the fire) as they were both using the stove, and threw the boiling pot of water onto the fire. However, since Mina’s pan contained hot oil the water had the opposite effect and the fire grew even brighter, causing Mina to throw the pan which was already a hazard without the fact that she threw it in their direction. Izuku and Shoto jumped out of the way and watched as all their work went was burned,
For a moment they could stare at the growing fire in alarm until Iida came running in with the fire extinguisher.
“ What the fuck happened !?” He yelled looking at the now, completely disorganized and slightly destroyed kitchen.
“There was fire and Tokoyami’s... quirk?” Todoroki trailed off questioningly and looked to Tokoyami for confirmation and he nodded that it was indeed his quirk, “ Threw the water onto the pan Mina was using to make omelets but since the pan had oil it made the fires worse,”
“ Hey! I was supposed to know that you can’t put water on oil?” The shadow bird yelled from behind Tokoyami who only sighed, “Dark Shadow, please”
“It’s common sense,” Todoroki shrugged.
Izuku was torn between cringing at Todorki who was most definitely coming across as kind of a jerk and fanboying because Tokoyami had a sentient quirk and oh my god do you know how rare those are?
“ You!” Mina yelled exasperatedly, pointing her finger at Todoroki, “didn’t know that you had to put water in the pot to boil noodles.”
“Well -“
“ GUYS! ” Izuku broke into the confrontation, he didn’t think they’d fight or that Mina would be much of an opponent against Shoto but he wouldn’t risk it. There was no way that Aizawa would let two fights in the same week slide, “Calm down, let’s get this kitchen cleaned up before Aizawa comes in. I don’t how we didn’t set off the fire alarm, and - well, I think, todays gonna be sandwiches for dinner”
The others nodded and began cleaning to the best of their abilities. Except for Iida who glanced around the kitchen to the other three who were gathering the cleaning supplies and left. Izuku didn’t know how he was going to explain to Aizawa why the cabinet and countertop were covered in scorch marks. Maybe he could just put the drying rack there to cover it?
Cleaning up was unfortunately not a smooth endeavor. He had to stop both Mina and Shoto from mixing bleach and vinegar, twice . Tokoyami’s quirk, “Dark Shadow” even stuck around to help which was nice in theory but he had to stop them (him? her? It?”) from trying to throw the scattered knives into the sink.
Safe to say after the kitchen was mostly clean, Izuku promptly kicked them all out.
“ Awe , what!?” Mina whined.
Izuku put on his best nervous smile and told her, “Sorry guys but after that . I think it’s better if you guys stayed out of the kitchen for a bit.”
Thankfully they didn't give him any more push back and Izuku was able to make a few large platters of sandwiches and fruit.
After dinner, the first of many lists was posted on the cork board.
CURRENTLY BANNED FROM KITCHEN DUTY
- Ashido
- Todoroki
- Tokoyami
Midoriya was not the only person to have trouble helping their classmates, each member of the class came from a different background and thus some were much more capable than others when it came to household duties .
—
Aizawa was not having a good day but he needed to check in with his class anyway. Tomorrow was the first day of school and he needed to go over the ground rules with them again and to inspect the dorms to make sure the brats had been cleaning up after themselves. Plus, he was suspicious. Other than the fight at the beginning the kids have been quiet, too quiet.
They were also progressing quickly. They had already begun forming their own cliques but they weren’t butting heads with the others, rather they were quite civil with the people who weren’t a part of their group. They were even calling each other by their names much earlier than before, that had happened before but it was usually only between the ones who’d become fast friends, never the whole class.
Perhaps he should be happy and part of him was but a larger part of him was worried. Each of his classes followed similar behavior patterns but this one was almost completely different and he hated to admit he wasn’t entirely sure how he would proceed. He was acting like he had with his previous students but so far it didn’t seem like these ones would need as much discipline and if he kept at it he would only alienate himself from them and that would have the opposite effect he needed to help them.
Sighing, he entered the dorm and was immediately greeted with the cork board filled with random bits of paper and the white board drawn on. Both were allowed but he was going to look at it anyway.
“Sensei!”
Aizawa turned and saw Yaoyorzu and Todoroki setting the tables. Probably a bit too fancy for lunch but what do you expect from a couple rich kids? The others were scattered throughout the living room and he heard a few in the kitchen, it seemed that almost all of them were in the common area together.
“What are you doing?” he asked the group.
“Oh we’re just about to have lunch, would you like to stay and eat with us sensei,” the girl asked.
Aizawa shook his head, “No thanks, it’s inspection day, hope you’ve been keeping up with the chores,” didn’t miss how a few students froze or flinched, “Continue what you were doing. We need to talk when I’m done anyways”
They nodded and Aizawa began walking around the common room aware of the students who were nervously looking away. He stopped at the cork board first and saw that the stuff pinned to it was fairly harmless, mostly just drawings a few notices of basic things like ‘ please don’t hoard dishes in your room’ and ‘ please don’t be loud in the shared areas before 7am , but he saw a few concerning things. Lists titled Current banned from kitchen duty, banned from laundry duty, banned from bathroom duty. DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE TOUCH THE CLEANING PRODUCTS .
There was definitely a story there, he looked at each list and he could guess why a few of them were on there, Kaminari’s quirk had a high chance of distributing the kitchen appliances and the washer and dryer if he slipped up even if it for just a second. Aishido’s quirk could also cause a nasty chemical reaction with the cleaning products. And he wasn’t at all surprised to see Mineta on the list of people not allowed to do the laundry after what happened with the girls. Although, he was a bit concerned as to why Todoroki’s name was on each list.
The white board was covered in what seems to be a chore list with each student having a certain task. There were a few notices written on it too ; Cooking lessons 4pm Friday , Please put your wastebaskets outside your room before 3 on Wednesdays - Thanks, Game night Friday at 7!
Well, they’re way more organized then his previous students. Aizawa looked around the common area and it was decently clean, he made did walk through the shared areas and with the exception of the kitchen, because it was being used, everything looked good.
He returned to the dining area and saw the class was still eating. That was fine, he only needed them to listen, plus it saved him time from rounding them all.
“Alright, listen up,” the teens looked over at him nervously, “You’re not in trouble - in fact you guys did a pretty good job at keeping this place clean. Keep it up and you’ll see a raise in your allowance. However as I am sure you are all aware, tomorrow is the official first day of school-“
Nearly all of them groaned, it was clear none of them were particularly excited for classes. Whether it was because they were the villain class or they just didn’t like school , he didn’t know, although he wouldn’t be surprised if it was both.
Still he gave them a stern glare for interrupting and continued, “ And I wanted to make sure we’re all clear on how you’re supposed to conduct yourselves. Remember your behavior is being monitored, UA will not tolerate disrespect against its staff, students or campus and - Yes number 10?”
Number 10, Sato, who had been raising his hand, lowered his head under his gaze but spoke in a firm voice, “What if they disrespect us first?”
Aizawa held in his grimace, that was a guarantee. While General Studies and Support Course students usually avoided 1-A, there are usually a couple business students who get in their face to try and “get their stories” so they can “help them manage their image” and of course there was always an arrogant hero in training, who figured they take it upon themselves to “show the villains their place.”
“Then you don’t take their bait and inform me, Miss Midnight, or another staff member right away. UA had a zero tolerance bullying policy and it goes both ways. Now, tomorrow I will arrive at the dorms at 7:45 to escort you guys to class. Be ready , I wont tolerate any tardiness. Midnight will bring you guys back at the end of class, except for the students who were involved in the fight, you have cleaning duty the rest of the week.”
He saw pleanty of eye rolls and huffs but he ignored them, the damn brats, “ We will keep this schedule up until I can trust your class to not skip, steal, or start fights. Also, those of you who have yet to see our counselor, Hound Dog, except to be pulled out of lunch, homeroom, PE, or study hall sometime this week to see him. Don’t be scared if your meeting goes into another class or after school, you will be exuded, so it won’t be held against you. Any questions, before I leave?”
Number 5’s hand immediately shot into the air and he nodded at her to speak.
“Sir! It’s the end of the week when do we get our allowance?!”
A few looked at the brown haired girl in surprise but others turned to him expectedly.
Aizawa rolled his eyes, “Your allowance will be given to you guys tomorrow and after school, Miss Midnight will bring you the shopping catalogs. Now, are there any other questions?”
The teens glanced between themselves but nobody raised their hand. Aizawa nodded at them and walked out, ‘ I need a nap ’

Okay fr though sorry about the delay bc if I’m gonna be honest, half this chapter was done in November 😖
For me MHA is one of my Big 3 fandoms, meaning I’ll go through a hundred different interests but eventually I’ll come back to either MHA, PJO, or Harry Potter.
I got REALLY into The Umbrella Academy, then Gravity Falls, Trolls was on and off, then Assassination Classroom and I was really into Epic the Musical, which got me back into musicals (Dear Evan Hansen, Hadestown, Hamilton, Six, In the Heights, etc)
And when I was gonna get back to writing I FINALLY got not one but TWO of my friends to get into Percy Jackson. PJO is my absolute favorite book series and rereading it alongside them gave me a bunch of pjo fanfic ideas, including a Pjo/Harry Potter crossover one, so if any of y’all are interested… keep an eye out 🫣
And Senior year was kicking my ass. I failed my stupid Math Tsi for the 5th time and it’s so stupid bc last year I was only three points off but this year it was 7! We take it again later in the spring semester so 🤞 fingers crossed! Oh and the girl who I’m competing against for valedictorian/salutatorian MIGHT be pregnant 🤭 Or hopefully she’ll get pregnant soon since her birth control expires soon and she’s not gonna get another. she’s thinking of just becoming a house wife (she’s already engaged) and not going to college so what the harm 🤷🏽♀️
My power hasn’t been cut again, Thank God, but we haven’t had water for weeks ☹️ and our car got towed and it’s gonna be over a thousand to get it out and my mama still doesn’t got a job. So we struggling out here but it’s good! Imma try to not leave y’all hanging for so long again
And Happy New Years gang! I’m not late it’s 11 pm where I’m at! Hope we all have a better year this year!
