Chapter Text

I can't remember how many runs it's been… How long she's been taunting me. Ha… when will the nightmare end?

“Come on Sans! It will be fun, I promise! Doing the same thing over and over is the definition of insanity ya know? You don't wanna be insane do you?”

“Doing anything to help you is what would be insane. Just get it over with devil. One of these days I'll send you back to hell where you belong.”

That was 33 runs ago… and nothing’s changed. I have no idea why I even started keeping track.

I can't believe I'm actually considering this but maybe if I give her what she wants just this once… Maybe the carnage will end.

It was at that moment of consideration a second voice sounded in my head… a booming voice the likes of which I've never heard before and I've lived this timeline long enough to know everyone inside it. This… This was finally something new.

‘Are you really going to give into the demands of the thing you wish to destroy the most? Is that what you want?’

“Of course not!”

‘Why not accept my offer instead?’

“Who the hell do you think you are?! Why would I trust you?”

Chara tilted her head in confusion.

“Come on now Sans, you can't be losing your mind already.”

The voice answered him after a moment.

‘Because it's a way out and you have nothing to lose. I will grant you the power to destroy that thing that is masquerading as a human and give you the power to resurrect your fallen family under one condition. You can no longer live in this world anymore once you obtain this power.’

“So you want to take my life in exchange for my family to live happily?”

‘I will not be killing you and nothing is stopping you from the occasional visit but it is better off that you left afterwards. The power I offer is dangerous.’

“Where the hell would I go if I can't stay in my own world? Mars?”

‘I will gift you the power to travel the multiverse as you wish. You'll find it most useful after the process is complete.’

“What's that supposed to mean?”

‘If you accept you'll find out soon after. I will not divulge my secrets any sooner.’

“Ya know what, you're right. I really ain't got anything left to lose. So help me kill this bastard and I'll deal with the consequences if my family comes back.”

‘Very well.’

Within a second a black and white mist passes through his bones and latched onto his soul, changing its shape. He screamed in agony as it shifts from white to a black and green looking liquid, and forming a circle around his seemingly melting heart. It appears in could just flow away at any moment but never leaks or fully loses form.

A few tears of black and green venom drip from his glowing green eyes, burning into the sockets as they heal over and over from the acid. The acidic magic collects on his lower legs and feet burning through the bone until it adapts to the magic. Everything it touches beneath burns with green and black fire. Finally blade like spikes grow from his wrists. They retract as needed to prevent harm to himself as he moves.

When the process is over the mist leaves his body and the demon who granted him this power manifests to his eyes only. It watches as the new demonic finally catches a breath and in a moment pins down the tormentor tearing out their soul and taking a bite from it. The sadistic pleasure overwhelms him as he hears the screams come to a halt and the taste of the soul's magic fills his blood lust. Though it doesn't stop there as to the larger demon's surprise, the skeleton begins to melt and devour the rest of the body as will in a gruesome display of violence. When it is over Sans turns to the demon.

“W…What have you done to me…?”

“Just as I've promised. I gave you the power to make sure your family is never harmed by that girl again.”

“Will you… bring them back now…?”

“I will show you how to do so yourself but it will only be at a half life at best. Your world will only continue to exist and thrive as long as your magic does. Meaning to keep your world alive you must continue to devour the souls of other powerful monsters.”

“That's why I will have to leave them… or I'll go berserk like I did here and start killing just to keep my family alive.”

“Yes.”

“Show me how to bring them back.”

“All you have to do is dig your talons into the ground and spread your magic throughout this world. Imagine your friends and family the way they were before. Imagine the happiness you want for them and let them have it.”

Sans follows the instructions and is shocked to hear the voices return around him. He immediately turns to run towards his brother when the demon stops him.

“Pull your new magic deep within you before you run off. You will revert to a normal state but expect to live with the green eyesight from now on.”

Sans returns to his normal form and he looks at the demon.

“Why help me anyway?”

“I was bored. This should amuse me more than just watching your worlds die over and over again. You have about 3 days before you must leave. I will guide you on the third day, teach you how to access your abilities and then you are on your own.”

Sans stays quiet at the sentiment of just being used as a toy for a higher being. He gets one final warning from the demon before he takes his leave.

“Remember that even in this form, if you can't control your magic, you can quickly become sublethal. Your poison won't kill without intent but it can burn others and make them ill if you aren't extremely careful. If you feel anything is wrong or anyone mentions it, remove yourself from the situation and call for me immediately.”

“Alright, What do I call you?”

“You can call me The Dreamweaver.”

“Sure. I will-”

The demon vanished just as Papyrus shows up and hugs his brother. It is about to be a long day with many unforeseen consequences along the way.
