Chapter Text
It is a dark and foggy night as several Beacon County Sheriff's Department deputies pull up to the Beacon Hills Preserve in their police cruisers. At least a dozen officers get out of their vehicles, some with K9 unit dogs who are barking and whimpering amongst the radio chatter. Flashlights in hand, the deputies begin their search in the woods
"What are you looking for?" Bonnie looked at Noah.
He man gave Derek an apologetic look "A body" Derek cringed as Peter looked at him concerned wondering why he reacted like that.
Scott McCall is sitting on his bed in his room, wearing only a pair of gym shorts, as he re-threads the laces on his lacrosse stick. Once he's determined that the net on his stick is secure and loose enough, he tosses the stick on his bed before walking toward the bathroom door, where he has a bar mounted on the lintel.
Allison bit her lip looking at her boyfriend before turning away with red cheeks when her dad raised a brow at her.
After doing a series of chin-ups, Scott goes into the bathroom, where he brushes his teeth and washes his face before bed
Suddenly, Scott hears a noise outside and pauses to listen for danger. The scene cuts to the front porch, where Scott, now in a red hoodie, walks outside with a wooden baseball bat in hand as he investigates what is causing the noise. Suddenly, a figure appears hanging from the roof, and Scott yelps in terror, almost hitting the person in the face with his bat until he realizes that it is Calida Stilinski, his best friend, who is yelping just as loudly.
Some of the group screamed. Kol and Klaus laughed; Tatiana has always loved to jump scare people. She gets that from her mother surprisingly.
"AHH! AHHHH! AHHHH!" They both yelled together.
Calida smiled a little, her and Scott aren't that close anymore, sure their still friends but there's this line in the middle of them, and it's getting bigger and bigger as time goes on.
Scott huffs in frustration and annoyance before lowering his bat "Calida, what the hell are you doing?!"
Calida looks just as exasperated as Scott as she eyes the bat in her best friend's hands "You weren't answering your phone! Why do you have a bat?"
"I thought you were a predator!" Scott said annoyed.
"A pre...What?"
Klaus and Kol shared a smirk. Tatiana might not have her magic yet - which they will be finding out why - she is a Mikaelson through and through. Of course she's a predator.
Calida looks at Scott, clearly appalled by the implication, though there was a small smirk on her face.
Scott blinked; he didn't see that at the time. Why was she smirking.
"Look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this. I saw my dad leave twenty minutes ago. Dispatch called - - they're bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department and even state police."
Scott frowns "For what?"
Calida has difficulty concealing her glee regarding her answer "Two joggers found a body in the woods."
Calida got many looks from the others who weren't used to her. "Why are you happy about that?" Caroline asked with a scoff.
Calida family glared at the blond vamp "Shut up" Hope snapped.
Calida smiled at her daughter before giving Derek a soft look "Sorry" she whispered.
Derek smiled a little, reaching over Isaac to rest a hand on her shoulder "It's okay" he whispered gently squeezing her shoulder before sitting back.
Reaching up to pull herself free of the trellis, Calida swings her body down, landing on her feet in front of the porch.
"What, a dead body?" Scott asked still confused.
Kol looked at the baby wolf "No a body of water" he scoffed shaking his head.
Scott and Calida looked at Kol in shock, something he noticed "What?" He muttered. The two shook their heads motioning to the screen.
Calida reaches up and leans on the railing to look at Scott at eye-level with a sarcastic expression "No, a body of water."
Kol eyes widened before he turned to his brother "Brother did you hear that! I said the same thing at Tatiana!" He said excitedly.
Klaus laughed gently at his baby brother "Yes, I heard." he smiled a little. Looks like his little Grace was still taking after her uncle.
Calida rolls her eyes "Yes, dumbass, a dead body!"
Scott looks unnerved about this news as Calida climbs over the railing to join him on the porch, dusting off her outfit. "You mean, like, murdered?"
"Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties."
"Hold on" Scott frowns "If they found the body, then what are they looking for?"
Calida becomes overwhelmed with glee at the drama of this situation as she finishes the story "That's the best part - - they only found half" Calida tone of voice changes, "I'm going to the woods, so I need you to cover for me if my pops call here asking for me."
Isaac frowned "Wait, you didn't bring him?" he looked at his crush. Calida did a so-so motion with her hand.
"I didn't want to bring him, but he wouldn't stay home."
Scott grabbed Calida arm when she went to leave "What? No way you're taking me with you" Scott exclaimed.
Calida looked at her friend worried "Scott I'm going into the woods, alone, at night, in the cold. Are you sure?"
"Come on! Nothing good ever happens in town" Scott groaned.
Scott got glares from Calida, and Derek. He just had to say that did he.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
The two pull into the preserve in Calida's teal blue Jeep, illuminating the sign warning against entry after dark with the Jeep's headlights. Calida gets out with a flashlight in hand. Scott follows, hurrying to keep up with her as they walk into the dark woods.
"We're seriously doing this?" Scott asked pulling his hoodie closer to his body
"You were literally bitching that nothing ever happens in this town" Calida told him looking at him quickly before walking up the hill.
"I wish it was the case" Calida muttered leaning her head against her pops shoulder.
"I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow." Scott complained
"Right, cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort" she said snidely.
Lydia snorts, that was true. Before Scott was a total joke at Lacrosse. She wonders what happened to make him good, but it looks like they're going to find out soon enough.
"No, because I'm play this year. In fact, I'm making first line."
Calida looks back at Scott in disbelief "Hey, that's the spirit! Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one."
The room filled with chuckles. Even Melissa laughed though she covered it up with a cough when her son turned to her betrayed.
"It wasn't unrealistic" Scott shot Calida a look.
Calida shrugged "Yeah because you were bitten. If you weren't you would still suck." Calida didn't care for the hurt look Scott gave her. Everyone who knew what happened to Scott knew it was true.
The friends walk in silence for a beat before Scott speaks up in the same sarcastic tone Calida used "Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?"
Calida looks somewhat sheepish in response "Huh! I didn't even think about that."
"And, uh... what if whoever killed the body is still out here?"
Calida smiled embarrassed "Also something I didn't think about"
"She gets that from you" Kol said to Klaus. The bond rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help the smile from forming seeing something his daughter still has from him.
Scott rolls his eyes in amusement as the two start to hike up a hill "It's comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail."
"I know"
Noah rolls his eyes. That was such a Calida response.
Scott's breathing starts to become rapid, shallow, and wheezy as the two continue up the hill, with Scott struggling to keep up with Calida quick pace.
"Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?" Scott gasped leaning against a nearby tree.
Melissa looked concerned for her son. Calida knows she should feel concerned for Scott, but she couldn't help but be logically. He's fine, and he doesn't have asthma anymore.
Should she be more worried? Yes. Does she care? No. Not really.
He pulls out his inhaler. Calida looked back at him "Maybe you should go back to the Jeep" she told him before continuing to climb.
"Yes! Go back to the Jeep" Melissa told the screen. Scott leaned down in his seat knowing he did not go back to the Jeep.
Scott shook his head "I'm good"
He got many deadpanned looks from everyone around him. It was very clear he was not okay. He should have gone back to the Jeep. Maybe if he did, he wouldn't have gotten attacked.
Scott continues to make his way up the hill after her. When they see a handful of people ahead of them waving flashlights around as part of the search, Calida and Scott dive behind a large fallen tree branch as they plan their next move, turning off the flashlight so they don't attract attention.
Calida looked around before tapping Scott shoulder "This way" she whispered pointing to their left. Scott nods and slowly they get up, walking silently away from the search party.
Once they were far enough away, only then did they turn on the flashlight "Come on. 20 minutes before we call it a night" Calida told Scott grabbing his hand, dragging him through the woods.
Scott and Calida rubbed the spots where they were bitten each giving Peter a look though they know it was their Peter but still. It kind of messed them up.
Thunder and lightning flickers overhead as Scott and Calida carefully make their way through the woods, Scott pulling up the hood to his sweatshirt to try to keep his head dry from the steady rain. Calida has no problem with getting wet, even tilting her head back a little.
She has always felt a connect with the earth, but for some reason there are days where it feels fainter than normal. Like something blocking the connection.
"Someone blocked her spark" Bonnie whispered to Jeremy who looked horrified. They know it's common to block a witch's magic when young, just until they're at an age where they can be taught control. But to keep it blocked for 16 years? That's unheard of.
Klaus and Kol shared a look. When they find out who blocked their darling spark they will kill them slowly.
It's evident that Scott's unnerved by the sounds of the forest animals around him, but when he makes it to a foggy clearing, he becomes unnerved by the fact that it falls totally silent. Calida stops next to him, slowly flashing the light around to see if they can find anything. Scott pulls his inhaler out of his hoodie once again and shakes it, intending to take another hit when suddenly, a herd of deer begin frantically stampeding toward them.
Calida grabbed Scott arm dragging him to the floor as the deer's trample over them and Scott inhaler went flying out of his hand several meters away.
"Scott!"
"Calida!"
Noah and Melissa held their kids tighter. Klaus and Kol sat up straighter along with Bonnie and Jeremy at the sight of Calida getting trampled. Calida kissed her pops cheek "I'm okay" she mutters before turning to the four and sending them a smile.
Isaac, Hope and Faith felt like their hearts were in their throats. The girls know their mother didn't tell them about her teen years, but they didn't think it would start off like this!
Once the deer have cleared out, Scott, still in shock, gets to his feet before helping Calida up "You okay?" he asked looking her over. Calida nodded "I'm fine" She smiled at him.
Scott frowned looking at the screen. When was the last time Calida smiled at him? In fact, when was the last time they hung out just to hang out and not because they needed to figure something out?
Scott starts looking for his inhaler using his cell phone as an additional light source. Calida grabs the flashlight to help him. She's about to search through a pile of dead leaves when she's startled when she instead uncovers the top half of the body-- young, white, with dark hair and very clearly bisected at the waist.
Derek looks away from the screen. Peter narrowed his eyes, that girl looked familiar. Why did she look familiar?
"Fuck" Calida whispered stepping back.
"What?" Scott asked walking over to her when he caught sight of the body. The shock of this sight stuns him so badly that he loses his balance. Scott reaches out to grab something to hold him up but instead grabs Calida arm pulling her down the hill behind them and into a ravine.
"Thanks for that by the way" Calida gave him a look. Scott looked at her sheepishly making her sigh.
Scott, shaken, stands to his feet with a groan, using a fallen tree trunk to help himself up due to the aches and pains caused by his fall.
"Damn it Scott" Calida groaned slowly getting up herself. "Come on, let's go home" she grabbed his arm pulling him quickly through the woods, wanting nothing more than to get out of there as soon as possible, when all of the sudden, a growl heard behind them causes the two to freeze in fear. Slowly they turn around, only to find a large, bestial wolf with glowing red eyes standing before them.
"What the hell is that!" Elena yelled in disgust.
The wolves and Vamps winced at her yelling "Shut up!" Faith snapped rubbing her ears.
Scott barely has time to gasp before the beast leaps toward him, causing him to fall backward onto the ground. Though Scott attempts to crawl away, the wolf grabs him by the ankles and pulls him backwards before viciously biting him on his right hip, causing Scott to roar in pain "AHHHHH!"
Melissa pulled her son closer to her side. Scott didn't say anything, knowing his mother needed this.
Calida screamed in fear as the beast turned to her.
"No!" Scott yelled trying to get up, but the beast smacked him away from jumping on Calida who tried to back away, biting her in between her neck and shoulder. "AHHHHH" Calida screamed in pain.
Klaus and Kol growled loudly. Kol vampire eyes and Klaus hybrid eyes on full display "Whoever attack you shall meet their end" Kol promised glaring at the screen.
Calida and Derek shared a look before looking at Peter who stared at them confused "What?" Peter asked. The two shook their head and turned back to the screen, trying to figure out how to stop Klaus and Kol from killing Peter when they find out who he was.
Panicked, Scott scrambles to his feet, grabbing a thick log and smacked the beast over the head with hit. Though it didn't hurt, it shocked the beast for a moment, long enough for Scott to grab Calida and the two run through the woods, tripping and tumbling all the way as they desperately try to evade whatever bit them. When Scott and Calida finally make it to the nearest road, they stop just before being hit by someone driving a burgundy SUV, who manages to swerve away from them just in the nick of time.
Allison eyes widened. That was her mom and her! Oh my God! She almost hit Scott and Calida and didn't even know it!
Finally, more or less safe, Scott and Calida take a moment to breath. Scott lifts the hem of his hoodie up, examining the large bite wound on his hip with horror as the rain continues to pour down around him. Calida touched her bite mark and winced. Suddenly, a loud wolf howl is heard from in the woods, which only makes Scott more concerned, and Calida confused.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott is riding his mountain bike through the school parking lot, where he jumps off just as he makes it to the bike rack in front of the school. He takes off his helmet and hangs it on the handlebars, adjusting his backpack with his lacrosse stick strapped to the back just as Jackson Whittemore, driving a silver Porsche, pulls into the parking spot next to him. Jackson gets out of the car, hitting Scott in the back with the door before shooting him a nasty look.
"Dude! Watch the paint job."
"Dick." Jeremy muttered.
"Jeremy! Watch your language." Elena yelled making the vamps and wolves' wince. Calida glared at the doppelganger, her eyes flash green for a brief second and suddenly Elena was silent.
Everyone watched as Elena tried to say something, but nothing came out of her mouth. Bonnie looked at Hope and Faith but the two shook their heads. She then looked at Calida who smiled innocently, leaning back in her seat.
Bonnie smiled and turned back to the screen.
They two didn't see Deaton narrowed look in their direction, but Noah did and glared at the man, pulling his daughter closer to him. Calida looked up at him with a smile, cuddling into his side.
Scott looks at him with an offended expression, but before they can interact further, an unseen male student calls out to him.
"Yo, Jackson! Let's go, bro."
Jackson walks away without another word, though he does turn his head back to shoot Scott a glare before he leaves.
Scott walks to the front of the school, where Calida was waiting, dressed in dark blue jeans, and a square cut, crop top. It was long sleeve, pink, blue, and white with butterflies all around the chest and sleeves. Calida paired it with a thick silver chain, and a small chain butterfly necklace, silver butterfly earrings, and white sneakers. Her white satchel bag hanging from her right shoulder.
"You look beautiful, mom." Faith told her mother.
"You really do." Hope nodded in agreement with her twin.
Calida smiled "Thanks girls." She looked at Isaac who was staring at the screen with wide eyes, mouth agape. "Uh, you have a little drool there." She teased. Isaac eyes went wide, and he quickly wiped away the drool.
"Hey." Calida smiled at her friend "How's the bite?"
Scott shrugged "Okay, I patched it up." He lifted up his shirt to show the covered bite mark, there was a small amount of blood leaking through "How about you?"
"Patched it up." Calida moved her hair to show the gauze and tape before covering her neck again. If anyone saw, she would tell them she burned herself badly with her curling iron and used aloe vera on it.
"Smart." Lydia nodded "No would question you."
"Why?" Klaus asked concerned.
Calida laughed a little "Because I always burn myself. Always." Every single time, she used heat on her hair, she burned herself. At this point it would be a miracle if she didn't burn herself using a curling or flat iron.
"I want to know what that thing was that attacked us." Calida huffed, looking at Scott "There was no way that was a wolf."
Scott looked at her confused "We heard a wolf howling." He reminded her. Calida rolled her eyes, "I know that, but California doesn't have wolves, okay? Not in, like, sixty years."
"I was half right. There were no wolves." There were just werewolves.
Derek shook his head, trying not to smile.
Scott looks surprised by this news as the two stop at the bottom of the staircase "Really?"
"Yes, really. There are no wolves in California." Scott hummed walking up the stairs "I've never seen anything like that before, it's not..." Calida trailed off not knowing the word.
"Normal." Scott filled in.
Calida nodded "Yes, it's not normal. It's like a freaking beast- -" Calida loses her train of thought when she sees Isaac Lahey getting off his bike "Since the birth of Isaac Lahey." She continued smiling at Isaac when he looked at her.
"Awe." Faith and Hope squealed. Their parents love story but the best, even if it was sad. They loved how much their parents love each other.
Noah, Klaus and Kol glared at the screen, then at the boy sitting next to Calida. "Stop it." Calida said looking at the three, narrowing her eyes. "Leave the poor boy alone." Isaac smiled at her.
Scott followed her line of sight and rolled his eyes, "Come on." Scott grabbed her arm and led her away.
The girls frowned. Allison looked at her boyfriend "What was that?"
"What was what?" Scott asked confused.
"Why did you lead Calida away from Isaac?" Allison question. Scott shrugged turning back to the screen. Allison and Lydia shared a look, they've noticed some things between Scott and Calida, how Scott would try and pull Calida away from talking to anyone, especially boys, and how protective he was... Allison looked back at the screen, promising to keep an eye on Scott.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott and Calida sit in their first period English class, listening to their teacher. "As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night." Scott grins and looks over at Calida, who was one row and column behind him.
Calida frowned looking at Mr. Curtis and pulled out her phone, shooting off a text. "And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios as to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody, which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus, which is on your desk outlining this semester."
"Who were you texting?" Kol asked.
"Pops." Calida motioned to Noah. "They weren't allowed to talk about that stuff because it wasn't right."
Noah nodded in agreement "We had no one in custody. If the students told their parents and they started asking questions, we would have no answers." Which would be dangerous.
Students groan in annoyance. Calida huffed but slipped her phone away and focused on the paper. Suddenly, Scott hears a phone ring so loudly that he believes it to be right next to him. However, when he looks around the room, he sees no one else reacting to the noise, causing him to frown in confusion.
The wolves and vamps winced a little. "Oh, that's got to hurt." Kol muttered with there was a smirk on his face.
Scott rubbed his ears. It was hard to control his hearing, even more so when playing since the noise would be too much.
Eventually, the sound of a female voice draws his attention to the row of windows to his left, through which he sees a young brunette woman sitting on a bench at the bottom of the stairs to the front entrance to the school. She has just answered the phone, which she has braced between her ear and her shoulder so she can dig through her gray canvas bag. The fact that he can hear her speaking like she's sitting right in front of him only makes him more confused.
"Oh, that's how you knew." Allison muttered. She wondered for a long time how Scott knew she needed a pen without her asking for it.
"Mom, three calls on my first day is a little overdoing it." Her mother says something unintelligible on the other end of the line "Everything except a pen. Oh, my god, I didn't actually forget a pen." The girl notices the vice principal walking towards her "Okay, okay. I gotta go. Love ya." She hangs up and puts her phone away.
Scott continues to eavesdrop as the VP reaches her.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. So, you were saying San Francisco isn't where you grew up?"
"No, but we lived there for more than a year, which is unusual in my family."
Chris sighed softly. He knew they moved a lot, a hunter never stays in one place, but he wished he could have given Allison more stability. She deserved that much.
"It's okay dad." Allison muttered leaning against him, "I get it now." Chris smiled softly wrapping his arm around her shoulder. She might get it now, but it still wasn't fair.
Scott, still looking alarmed, tracks Allison with his eyes until she is walked into the school and through the hallways "Well, hopefully Beacon Hills will be your last stop for a while."
Faith and Hope shared a look between themselves. On Beacon Hills was her last stop for a long time.
The vice principal walks Allison into the classroom, "Class, this is our new student. Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome."
Allison, who looks nervous, smiles weakly before finding the only open seat in the class, which just happens to be the seat behind Scott and to the right of Calida, the latter of whom smiles at her awkwardly as she sits down. Scott, having heard her conversation with her mother earlier, knows that she forgot a pen and offers her one of his own. Allison looks surprised by the gesture, but smiles at him gratefully
"Thanks."
"Because that's not creepy." Isaac scoffed shaking his head.
Scott smiles back at her in a way that indicates that he is starting to fall for her already before turning back around in his seat so she can't see him blush. The English teacher then picks up where he left off as Allison looks confused by this interaction.
"You should have asked questions." Chris muttered. Allison rolled her eyes, elbowing him in the stomach making him groan.
"We'll begin with Kafka's Metamorphosis on page one-thirty-three."
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
After class, students filed out and go to their lockers. Scott's locker is across the hallway and several meters down from Allison's, and when Scott catches her eye, Allison smiles at him. Just then, Lydia approaches Allison and strikes up a conversation, and Scott continues to watch them from afar when his hearing kicked in.
"That jacket is absolutely killer. Where'd you get it?" Lydia asked her.
Allison looks down at her jacket before looking at the girl "My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco."
Lydia hummed, taping her chin "And you are my new best friend."
Lydia and Allison smiled at each other. They were best friends, but... Lydia looked at Calida who was whispering to her daughters, Lydia realized that she always had a friend in Calida, even if they didn't talk.
Just then, Jackson, Lydia's boyfriend joins them as well. Lydia greets him warmly as he puts his arm around her waist "Heyyy."
"Hey Jackson."
The two share a long kiss, while Allison shifts uncomfortable.
Allison shifts in her seat. Lydia smiled sheepishly, playing with her dress as Calida laughed in Isaac shoulder.
Across the hall, Harley, Calida and Scott are watching the scene go down in front of them, looking incredulously, though Scott is too busy listening to Allison, Lydia and Jackson conversation to hear the girls start to talk.
"Can someone tell me how New Girl is here all of five minutes, and she's already hanging out with Lydia's clique?"
"Fresh picking." Calida shrugged opening her locker "The Argent girl is beautiful; you know Martin would want her before anyone else could get to her."
Lydia went to disagree but closed her mouth, "Kind of true." She muttered. Yes, she went to Allison because she was new and probably wouldn't have met a lot of people to call a friend, but it was also because she saw her younger self in Allison.
The shy girl, wanting to fit in but not knowing how. It was her from Middle school, before she started wearing makeup and dresses, and showing her money. Before she became popular.
Lydia pulls away from Jackson, turning back to Allison "So, this weekend, there's a party."
"A party?"
Jackson nodded "Yeah, Friday night. You should come."
Allison looks slightly bashful when she replies "Uh, I can't. It's family night this Friday. Thanks for asking."
Chris turned to his daughter amused "Family night?" He questioned with a raised brow.
Allison laughed sheepishly "Uh..." She looked away from her dad and Lydia amused looks. Lydia laughed shaking her head, she knew Allison was lying but didn't say anything about the lie.
Jackson and Lydia both look disappointed by this response. Meanwhile, Harley and Calida have a very animated debate going on that cannot be heard because the entirety of Scott's attention is being focused on Allison.
"You sure? Everyone's going after the scrimmage."
"You mean like football?"
Jackson laughs as though she was kidding. "Football's a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse. We've won the state championship for the past three years."
"What's wrong with football?" Elena asked defensively.
"Nothing's wrong with it." Isaac shrugged "But in our town, we don't even have a football team." The Beacon Hill kids nodded in agreement, expect Hope and Faith.
"We have one now." Faith told her dad.
Isaac, Calida, Lydia, Allison and Scott looked at her surprised "Really?" Isaac asked, confused. Why would they have a football team? No one in their town plays football. Hope nodded.
"We have many sport teams now." Hope and Faith shared a look, they would tell them about the school later.
"Wow." Calida muttered shaking her head. Why would they have new sport teams?
Lydia looks at Jackson with a loving expression as she ruffles his hair "Because of a certain team captain..." Jackson smirked smugly at the compliment before looking at Allison.
"Well, we have practice in a few minutes. That is, if you don't have anywhere else--"
Allison cuts him off in an attempt to talk her way out if it, "Well, I was going--" Only to be cut off by Lydia who makes the decision for her "Perfect! You're coming" Lydia grabs Allison by the hand and drags her to the lacrosse field, Allison giving Scott one last look before she goes.
Calida shuts her locker, the noise startling Scott out of his staring "I'm heading to the art room, meet you at the front after practice?" Calida smiled and didn't wait for his answer, walking past him and down the hall.
As she walked, she searched through her bag for something, so she didn't see the longing looks Jackson and Lydia gave her as she walked past them and Allison. Allison saw and tilted her head at the blond before looking at Lydia "Who's she?" She asked motioning to where Calida disappeared too.
"Calida Stilinski." Jackson was the one to answer her "She's a... friend." He pressed his lips for a moment before heading to the locker room to change.
Lydia and Calida shared a smile "Best friend." Lydia corrected on screen Jackson.
Calida smile became bigger "Sisters." Calida corrected making Lydia laugh and nod in agreement. "Sisters." She repeated. Noah, Klaus and Kol smiled at the two, all three knew how much Calida wanted a sibling, in both her lives, but never got one.
It was nice to see that wish came true, even if it came to be in a different way than normal.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
The lacrosse team has gathered on the lacrosse field, where the players are warming up by passing the ball back and forth as other students congregate in the bleachers to watch the team play. Scott jog's toward the field. In a change from the previous night, Scott seems unfazed by the exertion.
"Ah, the affects are starting to kick in already I see." Kol muttered resting his chin on his fist.
He drops his bag near the bench and started stretching when he's distracted by the sight of Allison and Lydia sitting down in the bleachers so they can watch the team play. Allison smiles at him, but before he could smile back, Coach Bobby Finstock appears in front of him and yells his name.
"McCall!"
"Yeah?" Scott asked turning to him.
Coach roughly tosses a lacrosse stick with a much bigger net and a bigger helmet to Scott, who catches them after they smack him on the chest. Scott's eyes narrow in confusion.
Scott frowns, "I've never played..." Scott told Coach.
"I know- - scoring some shots will give the boys a confidence boost. It's a first-day-back thing." Coach smacks Scott on the shoulder for emphasis "Get 'em energized! Fired up!"
By the look on Scott face, he knew this wasn't going to end well "What about me?" He asked
Coach pressed his lips "Try not to take any to the face."
The teens laughed while the adults, expect Kol who was laughing as well, looked confused and concerned "Is this normal, little wolf?" Klaus asked his daughter.
"Yeah, pretty much." Calida nodded "That's just how coach is, don't take it to heart." The Beacon Hills crew nodded in agreement. That is just how Coach is to everyone, you shouldn't take it too seriously.
Coach smacks Scott lightly on the cheek with the palm of his hand before turning toward the field to start the try-outs "Let's go! Come on!"
In the stands, Lydia looks at Scott curiously, as though she had never noticed him before, and Allison is staring at him as well. Scott reluctantly takes his place in the goal and prepares for practice to start. Just then, his superhuman hearing kicks in once again, allowing him to listen in on Allison and Lydia's conversation.
"Who is that?" Allison asked, jerking her head in Scott's direction. Lydia followed her line of sight and frowns a little, glaring at Scott before she forced her face to remain natural.
"Him? I'm not sure who he is. Why?"
Scott gave Lydia a look. She knew damn well who he was.
Melissa sighed softly while the others who didn't know the history between Calida and the others looked confused. Why did it seem like Lydia and Jackson hated Scott's guts but missed Calida if the longing look was anything to go by.
Scott cocks his head in confusion as he stares at them, but they don't seem to notice.
Allison smiled, not noticing Lydia look "He's in my English Class."
Unfortunately for Scott, the fact that he's distracted, and his extra-sensitive ears cause him to flinch and cover his ears in pain when the assistant coach blows the whistle to start the practice.
This makes him a prime target for Jackson, who takes a shot at the goal while Scott is still recovering. The ball hits him right in the front of his helmet with so much force that he's knocked backwards onto the ground. Coach Finstock, Jackson, and the rest of the team members immediately start laughing and making fun of him.
"Hey, way to catch with your face McCall!"
Calida snorts hiding her face in Isaac shoulder, which set him off laughing followed by their kids and the rest of the room. Scott blushed brightly, shrinking down in his seat, as his mom tried not to laugh as well.
Scott, now determined to prove himself, stands to his feet and shakes out his shoulder in preparation for the next shot.
The next player tosses the ball towards him, and Scott catches it easily, to the point where he's visibly stunned that he was able to do so.
"Good job!" Elena told him, smiling a little.
Scott smiled back, siting up straighter in his seat. Allison catches that and narrows her eyes between the two.
This sentiment is shared by all the rest of the teammates. The second, third, fourth, and fifth shots are caught by Scott just as easily, and Coach Finstock simply stares at Scott with his mouth open as though he can't believe what he's seeing.
Allison smiles when she sees Scott's performance, and even Lydia is clearly impressed by what she sees. Scott's hearing once again picks up on their conversation while he gets ready for the next shot.
"He seems like he's pretty good" Allison said.
Lydia scoffs a little "Yeah." She said shortly. Allison frowns looking at her but didn't say anything.
Elena scoffed "He's good, you don't have to be jealous of him."
Lydia glared at her "I was not jealous." She snapped. She could care less what McCall does, she will never like him.
Scott is practically giddy as he bounces on the balls of his feet and smiles, which only makes Jackson more angry. Intent to take Scott down a peg so that he's back in the spotlight, he slams the top of his stick against the player who was set to practice his goals and ditches him in line. Scott tenses when he sees this and prepares for the worst.
"Oh, God..." Scott whispered,
Jackson runs as fast as he can toward the goal and tosses the ball with all the force he can muster, but to Scott, the ball seems to be moving in slow-motion, allowing him to catch it without hesitation.
Scott looks around waiting for someone to cheer for him, but the only one who seemed excited for him was Elena. The others were just looking at the screen not interested at all, or looking at him in disappointment.
"Really, Scott? That's how you got so good, by using your new ability's?" Melissa asked her son shaking her head. Don't get her wrong she knew Scott was practicing all summer for a spot on first line, and she was so happy that he got that spot but now to know he got it because he used his powers? It disappointed her.
"What's wrong with that?"
Elijah shook his head "What's wrong is your essentially cheating."
"I am not!"
"You are." Faith and Hope told him, "We don't use our abilities when we play. No one does."
Isaac turned to them "You play a sport?"
"Track, football and soccer." Faith told him.
"Football for me." Hope said, she wasn't a sports person but she liked tackling people.
People sprung to their feet cheering. Lydia huffed, crossing her arms. Jackson looked towards her, and she gave him a small smile.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Calida sat in the back of the art room, wearing a apron, and headphones while painting. Other students who were in art club with her sat scattered around the room.
"Are you insane like me? Been in pain me?" Music played in Calida ears as her brush gently brushed against the canvas. "....You are not a human being... so you run on gasoline." Calida mouthed the lyrics.
Klaus smiled, leaning forward to look at his daughter "You like to paint?"
"Like it? I love it." Calida laughed, "The attic is my art room. Pops let me turn it when I was 13."
Noah nodded "She could spend a whole day up there." She has spent a whole day up there before with no breaks. Scared the shit out of him, when she came down covered in red paint.
"Okay everyone!" The art teacher, and club teacher, called out, "We are out of time. If your finished set your canvas by the window to dry, if your still working, set them on the drying racks."
Calida pulled down her headphone, letting them rest against her neck as she moved her painting to the window and stepped back.
"Woah." Someone muttered.
The painting was mostly done in black, with shades of grey and white to create light and shadows. It looked like a forest, being swallowed by darkness, with three full black wolves with white eyes. One in the front, one in the middle and one faded in the back, like it was walking through fog and wasn't fully seen just yet.
"That looks beautiful little spark." Kol told his niece.
Calida smiled "Thank you."
Mr. Roberts stopped next to Calida "Well done Calida. That looks amazing." He complimented.
Calida smiled taking off her apron "Thank you." Though she frowned when she looked at the screen. She didn't mean to draw that, in fact she wanted to draw a butterfly, but it was like something in her pushed for wolves. Why? She had no idea.
"Get cleaned up."
Calida nodded and hung up the apron, moving to the sink to wash her hands and brushes. She tried not to think too much about the painting as she grabbed her bag and went to meet Scott outside.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Calida and Scott walk through the forest, looking for Scott's inhaler as they talk about what happened at practice. "I-I don't know what it was," Scott said, as they crossed the creek, Calida jumping over the water.
The woman nodded in approval. If you could, keep your shoes clean.
"It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball. And that's not the only weird thing. I-I can hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things." Scott told her.
"Smell things? Like what?" Calida asked him confused.
Scott looked at her for a moment "Like the mint mojito gum in your pocket.
Calida raised a brow "I don't even have any mint mojito- -" She trails off when she pulled out a single folded-up mint mojito gum, just as Scott sensed.
"Question," Jeremy looked at Calida "If Scott was turning into a wolf, and having all of these things happen to him, what happened to you?"
Calida smiled a little, "I'll show you." She sat up, "This is my favorite." Calida told him, cupping her hands, suddenly her eyes flashed green, and she opened her hand. A golden butterfly flied out of her hands, circling the room.
"Woah." Jeremy smiled, going cross eyes when the butterfly landed on his nose before it disappeared.
"The bite unlocked my spark." Calida said happily.
"Why do your eyes glow green?" Bonnie asked.
Calida shrugged, this one Klaus answered "Genetics. Tatia eyes glowed green when she used her spark as well." Calida smiled a little happy she got something from her first mother.
Scott raises both of his arms to the side as if to say, 'I told you so.' Calida considers this for a moment "So this all started with the bite?" She asked.
Scott, ever the nurse's son, was concerned "What if it's like an infection? Like, my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?" He asked worriedly.
Calida frowned "That's not how an infection works." She told him, before shrugging "If your really concerned, go to the doctors."
"How about you?" Scott asked, "You feel any different?"
Calida bit her lip "I'm not having any of the side effects you described." She settled on.
Scott nodded "Good."
Melissa face palmed "Are you serious?"
"What?" Scott asked confused.
"Calida didn't even answer your question." Melissa told him. Scott frowned tilting his head.
"She didn't?"
Melissa sighed shaking her head.
Calida and Scott stopped in a clearing, looking around. Calida frowned when she didn't see anything remarkable where they're standing "Is this where we saw the body?" She asked looking at Scott.
Scott looked around and nodded "Yeah, the deer came running. I dropped my inhaler..."
Calida shrugged "Maybe the killer moved the body?" She suggested. Scott sighed as he brushed some leaves away "If he did, I hope he left my inhaler. Those things are, like, eight bucks."
The two continue to look around when suddenly, a man in his early twenties with pale skin, black hair, a black leather jacket, and a scowl appears in front of them.
Everyone turned to Derek who scowled at them. "And you wondered why I thought you were the killer." Scott told him with a scoff.
"Shut up." Derek told him.
Calida tensed up a little when the wind brushed against her, sending a chill down her spin.
"What are you doing here?"
Scott and Calida spun around, shocked and surprised at the man standing behind them. When neither of them respond the man's tone gets even gruffer "Huh? This is private property."
"Um, sorry man we didn't know." Calida apologies. Derek looked at her then the bandage on her neck, Calida narrows her eyes at him pulling her hair to cover the bandage.
Scott cleared his throat gaining Derek's attention "Yeah, we were just looking for something, but..." Scott was about to continue until Derek glares at him, after which point Scott loses his nerve and drops the subject "...Uh, forget it."
Suddenly, Derek tosses Scott's inhaler at him before turning and heading back the way he came without a word, giving Scott and Calida one last look.
"Stalker." Calida, Hope and Faith sang under their breath before laughing. Isaac smiled at them as Derek glared at them but there was a smile on his lips watching them.
Scott sighs and gets ready to turn back the opposite direction "Um... All right, come on, I gotta get to work." Before Scott can move, Calida holds his hand to physically stop him from walking away
"Dude, that was Derek Hale!" When Scott looks at Calida blankly, she rolled her eyes "You remember, right? He's only a few years older than us."
Scott frowned "Remember what?"
"His family. They all burned to death in a fire, like, ten years ago." Calida shrugged sadly.
Derek closed his eyes while Peter tensed up. "What?" He asked looking between his nephew and the screen.
Derek cleared his throat "Our house was burned down 6 years ago. Laura, and I weren't at home. You... You were the only survivor."
"Were?"
"Peter," Calida cut in before Derek could say anything "We'll tell you later alright?" She could tell Derek wasn't doing well and didn't want Peter to push for answers.
Peter looked between Derek and Calida before nodding in agreement.
Scott looks both intrigued and concerned by this news "I wonder what he's doing back..."
Calida scoffs, as though she thinks that nothing can come of it, before walking away "Come on, I'll drive you to work." Scott looks back to where Derek was before following his sister.
The screen turned black.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Calida entered her room, throwing her bag on her bed.
The room was white and pink. Wooden floors, a white fluffy circle rug under the bed. A velvet bed, with a shell shaped headboard, pink and white pillows, a white comforter and a pink throw blanket. One pink circle bedside table with a white lamp on each bedside table.
In front of the bed was a white desk, with a white and pink desk chair, a TV hung over the desk. A gold and white book shelve beside the desk, built-in white storage above the desk, TV and bookshelf. A bubble chandelier hung over the bed. A gold mirror hung next to the bathroom door.
A light pink, seashell shape chair sat outside the closet door with a gold circle mirror hanging over the chair.
"Oh, your room is pretty!" Bonnie smiled at the teen.
Calida smiled back "Thank you." It took her and her dad two weeks to finish her room. The accent wall took 4 days, but Noah didn't mind doing it. His daughter loved her room.
Calida flopped down on her bed, kicking off her sneakers with a huff. Calida pulled herself up, leaning against her headboard, she grabbed her bag and pulled out her schoolbooks and her laptop to start on some schoolwork now.
Laying her stuff on her bed, Calida got up and moved to her closet. It was a small walk in. On the left wall were four cubbies two on the top and two in the bottom. Sweaters, shirts, jeans hung up. On the right side was one long cubbies, where all her dresses hang with her boots under neath.
In the middle was a spinning shoe wheel. On top there was four cabinets. One held her PJs. The second held her extra school belongings, and the other two were empty.
"Wow."
"It's so small, but so cute." Caroline muttered. "I wish I had a walk in." She pouted. She had a regular closet that didn't have enough room for all of her things.
Calida grabbed an old T-shirt and black cotton shorts, shutting the cabinet and moved towards her bathroom. Her bathroom was pink and white. Pink carpets, a pink toilet cover, a pink shower curtain.
"So much pink." Rebekah muttered shaking her head. Did her niece not know any other color?
"Shut up." Kol hissed glaring at her.
Calida pulled her hair into a high ponytail, tilting her head as she pulled the gauze off, wincing as it pulled on her skin.
"What the hell!" Calida exclaimed touching her bare neck.
"Woah." Tyler looked looked shocked. "How fast do you heal?" He asked.
Calida shrugged "Faster than your type of wolf but not as quickly as Derek's."
Tyler looked confused. That did and did not answer his question.
Calida looked at the gauze, noticing the blood, the back at her bare skin. "What the hell is happening?" She muttered.
"The start of a hard life." Calida told her on-screen self.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Night has fallen, and another thunderstorm has just started up as Scott walks to the front entrance of the animal clinic where he works as a veterinary technician. He looks outside with a concerned expression before locking the door and turning the sign on the door, so it reads "CLOSED" instead of "OPEN"
In the employee bathroom, Scott has just set a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and some bandages on the shelf above the sink before lifting his shirt to change his dressing. However, when he peels away the tape and bloody gauze covering the bite he sustained the previous evening, he is stunned to find that it has already miraculously healed in less than one full day, with no scar or any mark whatsoever to indicate he had been injured at all. Scott gapes at himself in the reflection of the mirror for a moment while he ponders this situation.
"So, you both healed at the same time?" Bonnie asked confused.
"Yep." Calida nodded.
"It might be because they were both new wolves." Derek informed the dark-skinned teen. Bonnie hummed nodding in thanks.
After apparently shrugging off the strange healing of his wounds, he gets back to work.
Melissa looked at her son shocked. "You didn't find that weird at all?" She asked.
Scott rubbed his head, "No?" He said but it was more of a question. Melissa sighed pinching the bridge of her nose done with this already.
He's in the middle of dragging a large bag of cat food into the "cat clinic" when he greets the cats who are boarded there.
"Hey, kitties." He smiled at them. Suddenly, the cats get extremely stirred up and start growling, meowing, and pawing at the cages in an attempt to get out to either flee or fight. Scott is so overwhelmed by the bizarre situations that keep happening to him that he hurries quickly out of the cat clinic before any of the boarders can hurt themselves or him.
The wolves snorted at that, making Scott roll his eyes. "Oh, shut it." He muttered glaring at them. He was freaked out, the cats never done anything like that before, of course he was scared.
Scott is just about to close up the clinic for the night when he senses something outside. Just then, a soaking wet Allison appears at the front door, crying and frantically pounding on the door with her fist. After Scott gets over the shock of seeing her so unexpectedly, he unlocks and opens the front door before greeting her awkwardly, unsure of what he should be expecting.
"Hi..."
Scott smiled looking at Allison who stared at the screen with pressed lips. Scott frowned, looking confused, why was she looking sad? They were still together. Were they not?
It's obvious that Allison is distraught about something, and she wastes no time rambling anxiously about what just happened to her "I didn't see it. I took my eyes off the road for, like, two seconds to change the song on my iPod, and then this dog, it just came out of nowhere!"
Scott, who is listening to Allison intently, immediately tries to calm her down to get more information. "It's alright. It's alright. Do you remember where it happened, so I can send Animal Control to find it?"
"No! I mean, yes, I know where I hit it, but the dog is- -" Allison tried to say as she continued sobbing.
"Where is it?" Scott asked patiently.
"It's in my car."
Scott follows Allison out into the pouring rain, where she has the dog, a white and gray collie, in the trunk of her hatchback car. The dog instantly starts growling at them, scaring Allison and causing her to jump backward. Scott, concerned, grabs her by the shoulders to steady her.
Chris frowned sadly. He kind of missed when Allison was scared of the small things, when she would run away from danger not run towards it.
Now because of Kate, he knew he couldn't hide this world from Allison any longer. No matter how much he wished he could keep her hidden.
"You, okay?" He asked.
Allison nods as she catches her breath from all the crying, and Scott smiles gently. "She's just frightened."
"That makes two of us." Allison sighed sniffling.
"Let me see if I have any better luck." Scott stepped forward, looking at the dog, maintaining eye contact and a stern look, which seems to instinctively trigger his newly gained animal instincts. Suddenly, his irises glow bright gold, and the dog ultimately submits to him and stops growling.
"You can control your shift?" Damon asked.
The wolves, shifted into their beta forms, making the vampires lean away. They did not want to know how those wolves would affect them.
Inside the clinic, Scott and Allison have brought the dog to the exam room, where Scott is checking the dog out for injuries. Scott frowns as he touches the dog leg "I think her leg is broken" Allison frowns hugging herself "I've seen the doctor do plenty of splints. I can do it myself and then give her a painkiller for now"
Allison nods gratefully, and Scott notices that she's shivering from the cold and the rain. "I have another shirt in my bag..." He said motioning to his bag.
"Oh, I don't want to trouble you." Allison waves him off.
Scott just grabbed his shirt and hands it to her, "Here."
Allison takes the shirt and goes into the other room to change. Scott catches a glimpse of Allison's bare back after she takes her shirt off, and the dog makes a harrumphing noise and sits up to give him a look, as though she's judging him. Scott makes a face at the dog in response.
"What? I didn't see anything."
Chris glared at Scott who stared at the screen.
Allison narrowed her eyes a little, not too sure how to feel about that. If they were still in a good place, she might have found it charming, now she finds it kind of creepy.
Allison returns wearing his ivory long-sleeved t-shirts, looking slightly embarrassed "Thanks for doing this. I feel really stupid."
Scott frowned, "How come?"
Allison looks down at the floor bashfully, "I don't know. . . 'Cause I freaked out like a total girl."
"You are a girl." Elena rolled her eyes.
"Oh, shut it." Calida snapped at her. Elena reeled back, looking shocked someone actually stood up to her. Bonnie and Jeremy laughed a little making Elena glare at them.
Scott looks confused by the statement "...You are a girl..."
Allison laughs tiredly, "I freaked out like a girly-girl, and I'm not a girly-girl." Allison said firmly.
"What kind of girl are you?" Scott asked curiously.
"Tougher than that. At least, I thought I was."
"You are." Lydia reassured her, holding her hand. Allison smiled squeezing her hand in thanks.
Scott smiles and tries to make her feel better "Hey, I'd be freaked out too. In fact, I'd probably cry. And not like a man, either. Like the biggest girly-girl ever. It'd be pathetic."
"Yeah, right..."
Scott looks down at the dog, whose arm now has a yellow splint that Scott seems to have doodled on in the interim and starts petting her comfortingly. "So... it looks like she's goanna live. And I'm pretty sure she'll even let you pet her now, if you want."
Allison looked nervous at the prospect. "I don't think so." Scott smiles mischievously at Allison as if daring her to do it, knowing she'll feel better if she does.
"Oh, come on. You don't want her too sure. I hear this breed is very litigious."
Allison slowly reaches out and pets the dog along her side, and when she doesn't growl or try to move, Allison smiled and continues to pet her.
"You, see? She likes you." Scott told her happily.
Scott and Allison stare at each other for a long moment.
Scott and Allison stared at the screen with two different emotions. Scott with love. Allison with confusion. Neither knew what the other was thinking.
"What?" Allison asked confused.
Scott, realizing he was staring a little intensely, looked away bashfully. "Uh, sorry. You have an eyelash on your cheek."
"Oh, from the crying." Allison wipes at her face trying to get it off but misses it. Scott reaches out and gently brushes the eyelash off of her left cheekbone. Allison smiles, seemingly developing feelings for Scott just as he is for her.
"Thanks."
"Yeah."
The scene cuts to the parking lot, where Scott has just walked Allison out to her car. Scott looks nervous as Allison opens the driver's side door and tosses her wet shirt on the passenger seat, stammering as he tries to summon the nerve to ask her out.
"So, um. . . I was wondering. . . I mean. . . Is it really family night on Friday, or do you think maybe you'd like to go to that party with me?"
"Aww, you were so nervous." Damon laughed at his wolf.
Scott glared at him, baring his fangs. Stefan gripped his brother arm, giving him a look.
"Don't temp the unknown wolf." Stefan hissed at his brother. Damon rolled his eyes but kept silent.
Allison smiles when she realizes that she got called out on her fib from earlier. "Family night was a total lie."
"So, is that a, yes? You'll go?"
Allison smiles and nods in agreement "Definitely yes." She kissed his cheek before getting in her car and driving off.
Scott looked awestruck.
Allison sighed, leaning her head against Lydia shoulder. Calida smiled slightly at her, knowing the older teen has been re-thinking her relationship with Scott.
Calida just hoped the Argent girl knew what she was doing.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Calida moved around the kitchen, humming under her breath as she grabbed two avocados.
"Honey, I'm home!" Noah shouted closing the front door.
"Kitchen!" Calida shouted back, turning towards the stove, flipping the sweet potatoes over to cook the other side.
"That smells good."
Calida smiled at her dad over her shoulder, "Thanks. Go change, food will be ready in 5." Calida told him. Noah smiled, turning to head upstairs.
Calida moved to the counter where two steaks were, and grabbed a knife, cutting it into thin slices, before setting it on the plates next to it. Calida scooped the sweet potatoes out of the oil, letting it drip for a moment before setting them on the plates as well. She moved back to the counter, grabbed the avocados and quickly peeled, cut and plated them before adding a caesar salad on top.
"You made that?" Isaac asked wide eyed, salivating at the food on the screen.
Calida nodded, proud of herself. "Yep. I make all the food."
"Why?" Bonnie asked.
"If I left it to dad," Calida gave her father a stern look, "He would have takeout every single day." Noah rolled his eyes but didn't disagree with his daughter letting everyone know she was right.
"Mom's food is the best." Hope sighed dreamily thinking about the dinners she has.
Calida smiled looking around noticing everyone looking at her food with wide eyes. "How about I cook dinner for everyone, tonight?" She suggested.
"YES!"
"Please!"
"God yes!"
Calida laughed and nodded, already thinking of dishes to make for everyone.
Calida smiled, moving the plates to the table, before she started cleaning up the mess, setting the dirty dishes in the sink and wiping down the counters.
She paused when her phone rang, "Hello?" She asked pressing it against her ear as she continued to clean.
"Hey Calida."
Calida paused, "Lydia?" She asked confused and a little surprised. She didn't think her old best friend had her number anymore, since Lydia never responded to any of her text before she gave up for good.
Lydia winced, looking down. That was one of her biggest regrets, cutting Calida out. No matter what her and Jackson says, they both know if they tried a little harder, Calida would have been their friend for all these years.
"Yeah, it's me." Lydia sounded awkward which wasn't something Calida was used too. "Look I was just calling to invite you to my party this Friday. Everyone's going and I was wondering if you were free."
"Oh," Calida blinked. She did not think Lydia would even want her at her parties so she never went to any. At all. "Um, sure. I'll be there."
"Great! See you at school" The phone hung up.
Noah looked amused at the girls. So that was how their relationship picked back up, he wondered how it happened since his daughter never talked about Lydia again until the night of that party.
Calida pulled her phone back, looking at it confused.
"Hey." She looked up to see her dad standing in the kitchen walkway, "Everything okay?" He asked concerned.
Calida nodded. "Yeah." She cleared her throat. "Dinner's ready."
Noah eyed his daughter but moved to the table as Calida grabbed two sodas.
"Steak?"
"Until next month." Calida told him, taking her seat. Noah smiled taking his soda and started eating.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
At the MCCALL HOUSE, Scott strips out of his wet clothes and flops down on his bed, still smiling in the afterglow of his interaction with Allison. Once he falls asleep, he flips from laying on his back to laying on his stomach, only to find that it is now daytime and he's lying on a pile of leaves in a coyote den in the BEACON HILLS PRESERVE.
"What the hell." Elena looked at Scott "How did you get out your house?!"
Scott shrugged "To this day I still don't know." Scott told her giving her a small smile. Elena smiled back tucking her hair behind her ear. Damon and Stefan gave her a look but neither said anything.
Once Scott gets out of the den, he sees the bestial wolf who bit him, though shrouded in fog, and starts running as fast as he can to evade him. He eventually jumps over a fence into a body of water, which causes him to frantically twist around until he realizes that he jumped into a neighbor's swimming pool, and that the neighbor in question is in the backyard, staring at him incredulously. Knowing that he has no good explanation for why he's in the man's pool in his boxers, Scott goes the polite route. "Good morning!" Scott waves at him.
"Is that why he always looks at us like we're crazy?" Melissa asked her son. Scott nodded sheepishly, making Melissa groan.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott, changed in his lacrosse gear, puts his backpack in his locker when suddenly Jackson appears, also in his lacrosse gear, and angrily slams his locker door closed, startling Scott.
"Alright, little man. How 'bout you tell me where you're getting your juice."
"Oh, Jackson." Lydia groaned shaking her head.
Scott clenched his jaw glaring at the screen. God, he hated Jackson and wished to knock him down a few pegs.
Scott, not knowing what Jackson is talking about and overwhelmed by his intimidating demeanor, looks at him blankly "What?"
Jackson repeats what he just said in a mockingly slow tone of voice, emphasizing every syllable as though Scott is stupid "Where. Are. You. Getting. Your. Juice?"
"Saying it twice won't help." Calida smirked. "It's Scott."
"Yeah- What?" Scott looked at her offended "What's that supposed to mean?" He asked crossing his arms.
Calida only shrugged making Lydia and Allison snicker.
Scott blinks earnestly, still not understanding the question "My mom does all the grocery shopping."
Laughter filled the room, "God how stupid are you?" Jeremy asked.
"I'm not stupid." Scott shouted.
"Sure."
Jackson, thinking Scott is messing with him, is radiating with anger at this point, though he tries to keep his cool.
"Now, listen, McCall-- your goanna tell me exactly what it is and who you're buying it from, because there's no way in hell, you're out there kicking ass on the field like that without some sort of chemical boost."
Scott finally understands what Jackson's talking about as his eyes widen in realization "Oh, you mean steroids!" Scott frowns as he considers Jackson's argument "Are you on steroids?"
Jackson loses his patience and his temper as he shoves Scott against the locker and pins him there.
Melissa winced biting her lip. She might not like her sons' actions so far but he was still her son.
"What the hell is going on with you, McCall???"
Scott, who is already under a lot of stress due to his current situation, ends up answering Jackson's question honestly.
Klaus shook his head. How did this wolf survive so far when he was stupid enough to be honest with someone who bullies him?
"What's going on with me? You really wanna know? Well, so would I! Because I can see, hear, and smell things that I shouldn't be able to see, hear, and smell. I do things that should be impossible, I'm sleepwalking three miles into the middle of the woods, and I'm pretty much convinced that I'm totally out of my freaking mind!"
"Oh honey." Melissa sighed sadly rubbing her son shoulder.
Jackson, still under the mistaken belief that Scott is mocking him, sneers angrily at his teammate "You think you're funny, don't you, McCall? I know you're hiding something. I'm gonna find out what it is. I don't care how long it takes."
Jackson angrily pounds his fist against the locker right by Scott's right ear for emphasis before smacking him hard on the shoulder and walking away, leaving a very overwhelmed Scott behind.
Jackson pressed his lips, now he feels like a jackass. Since becoming a wolf himself, he found just how hard it really was, not including the time he wasn't a wolf, and felt bad for how he treated Scott when they were younger.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott is preparing to go on the field for try-outs. Calida sat in the stands, laptop in her lap, whatever she's going has her full attention as she doesn't notice when Scott walks by her. On her laptop screen, many pages of witches, hunters, and more were up.
Everyone looked at Calida, "What? You guys think I wouldn't research what was happening to me?" She asked shrugging.
"Yeah, should have seen that coming." Derek shrugged.
Coach moved to the center of the field calling the players around him "Let's go! Gather round! Bring it in, come on! Come on!"
Allison is on the sidelines, getting ready to settle down in the bleachers to watch the practice for the second day in a row. She waves at Scott, who waves back, though it doesn't escape Coach's notice "Got a question, McCall?"
"What?" Scott looks at him confused.
"You raised your hand. You have a question?""
Oh. No. I was just, uh..." Coach gives him an impatient look, so Scott drops the subject "Nothing. Sorry."
"Okay. You know how this goes. If you don't make the cut, you're most likely sitting on the bench for the rest of the season. You make the cut? You play. Your parents are proud." Coach shakes the face mask of the player standing in front of him to emphasize his point "Your girlfriend loves ya! Huh? Everything else is, uh... cream cheese."
Finstock smirks at Scott as he and the other players get psyched up for practice
"Now, get out there and show me whatcha got! Come on!"
At Coach's order, the players scatter on the field, cheering and whooping to get each other focused on practice.
Scott scratch the back of his head, remembering what he did during the tryouts. He had a feeling the others wouldn't be happy with him when they see what happened.
Calida looked up from her laptop, leaning forward to watch closely.
Practice begins with the players doing a drill in which they pass the ball back and forth between each other. Scott bounces on the balls of his feet while he waits for the ball to be thrown his way. Once again, when the ball heads his way, he's shocked when he actually catches it with minimal effort. He starts running down the field, but when he spins around to avoid getting the ball stolen by another player, Jackson appears out of nowhere and tackles him hard. Jackson lifts up his helmet so he can smirk smugly at Scott before jogging away, which acts as the motivation Scott needs to get angry enough to tap into his newly gained supernatural physical powers.
Scott and Jackson are up against each other for the lacrosse equivalent of a kickoff, and the two stare at each other for a long moment until Coach Finstock blows the whistle. Much to Jackson's dismay, Scott easily snatches the ball before he can even react, forcing him to chase after him as fast as he can. Just like the previous day's practice, everything seems to slow down around Scott, allowing him to spin out of the way when the other players try to tackle him, jumping over another player's ankle when they try to trip him, and finally, doing a hands-free round-off flip over three players who attempted to knock him down together, and shooting the goal by throwing the ball between the goalie's legs.
"Holy shit!"
"Are you kidding Scott!"
"How were you not discovered sooner?" Chris asked looking at the man, "Because that was a big sign that you weren't normal."
Melissa covered her face with her hands, trying not to scream. How did her son not get caught sooner!
Scott gasps, clearly having difficulty believing what had just happened, and Jackson looks both furious and desperate to know what Scott's secret is. When Scott pumps his fists into the air, the other players run up to him and smack him affectionately on the shoulders, and Allison stands up in the stands to clap and cheer for him. Just then, Coach Finstock, who looks mad, calls him over.
"McCall! Get over here!"
Scott unsure of what to expect, jogs over to where Coach is standing and takes off his helmet. "What in God's name was that? This is a lacrosse field. What, are you trying out for the gymnastics team?"
Scott shakes his head "No, Coach."
"What the hell was that?"
"I don't know. I-I was just trying to make the shot." Scott told him shrugging.
"Yeah, well, you made the shot. And guess what?" Coach slaps Scott playfully on the arm "You're startin', buddy." Coach squeezes Scott's shoulders "You made first line. Come on!"
"And you really had no idea he was a wolf?" Kol asked the male hunter.
Chris shook his head, "I never knew him before the bite." If he did, he would have spotted it quickly.
Scott is so excited that he bounces happily, and all the players on the field and bench clap for him. Scott looks at Calida who frowns at him and looked back at her laptop.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
After practice, Calida headed straight for her bedroom, throwing her bag on her bed and sitting down at her desk opening her laptop pulling up her research on witches. Her online search starts on nature witches, said to be one of the stronger witches, before moving onto an article on the different types of witchcrafts.
Some time later, Calida moves on to reading an old, battered leather book.
Klaus and Kol looked at the book surprised.
"How did you get that book?" Kol asked his niece.
Calida looked away from the screen, "What?" She tilted her head.
Kol cleared his throat, "That book," He motioned to the screen, "It was your mothers. I thought it burned in the fire."
Calida eyes widened, glancing at the book in her hands on screen, then to her uncle. "I don't know. I've always had it."
"It's true." Noah spoke up, looking at his daughter. . . first family, "One day Calida just came downstairs with it. Figured she found it in the attic."
Calida looked back at the screen, "Do you think it could have been the spell?" She asked, looking back at her- Klaus, "That the book came with me."
Klaus bit the inside of his cheek thinking it through. "Probably. Ayana would have wanted you with something to help when you learn of your magic."
Calida hummed.
Before going back to the computer and searching online for articles about harmful things that can affect witches. Calida needed to know what was happening to her, this morning her bed was 2 feet in the air!
Scott looked a little hurt that Calida didn't do any research for him. Things were happening to him as well, and Calida did nothing to help him! It wasn't fair.
Calida glanced at the time "Shit." Realizing she had to get ready, Calida closed her laptop and rushed to her bathroom, shutting the door.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott opened his bathroom door, towel wrapped around his waist. He jumps, startled to find his mother, Melissa McCall, standing outside the door waiting for him.
"Okay, probably not the time, but that was a cool transition." Jeremy whispered to Bonnie.
"Yeah it was." Bonnie nodded.
"Mom!"
Melissa smiles at him "Is this a party or a date?" She asked.
Allison frowned a little. It wasn't the best first date, and she wondered if it would have been better if Scott just told her the truth. Maybe then she wouldn't have been so easy to manipulate.
Scott smiles back nervously. "Maybe both."
"And her name is?"
"Allison."
"Allison. Nice." Melissa smiled. She looked at her son for a moment before holding out the keys to her car, handing them to Scott.
"Thank you." Scott smiled brightly.
After a moment, Melissa narrows her eyes suspiciously. "We don't need to have a talk, do we?" She asked.
The men groan hiding their face. Melissa shook her head, giving all the men in the room the stink eye.
Scott groans, rolling his eyes "Mom, I'm not having the safe sex talk with you."
Melissa scoffs and makes a disgusted face. "Oh, my God. No! I meant about keeping the tank full. Give me those back!"
"Oh."
"Damn."
"Shit."
Some of the men muttered. Scott avoided looking at Chris who looked like he wanted to shot the younger man.
Jeremy looked anywhere but at his girlfriend who was giving him the stink eye.
Scott looked at his mom in disbelief. "Are you serious?" he asked alarmed.
Melissa nodded "You bet you ass I am serious. I'm not gonna end up on some reality television show with a pregnant sixteen-year-old. Come on!" Melissa holds out her hands to take the keys back.
Chris nodded in agreement, as Allison winced. Well it wasn't going to happen now.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott, who apparently talked his mother into still allowing him to use the car, pulls up in front of Allison's house. He's wearing a black and red patterned shirt with a green jacket and is nervously drumming his fingers on the steering wheel as he waits for his date to come out. After a moment, Allison opens the door and walks outside, wearing jeans, a white blouse, and a black blazer. The two make eye contact with each other and smile as Allison walks toward the car.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Calida walked down the stairs, clipping a blue bow into her hair. She was wearing a type of corset blue top with with flowers printed on. A cream, corset type of skirt, paired with light blue heels, and her pearl bracelet, and a cream colored purse. (Ignore everything else.)
"You look nice." Klaus told his daughter.
"Thank you." Calida smiled.
Calida slipped her phone in her purse just as the front door opened and Noah stepped through. "Hey dad." Calida smiled at him.
"Hey Calida." Noah greeted, pulling off his jacket when he did a double take at his daughter.
"How do I look?" Calida asked, doing a spin.
Noah let out a long breath, staring at his daughter. She looked so much like her mother, right there and then. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you daddy." Calida kissed his cheek and grabbed her Jeep keys, "I'll be home late. Dinner is in the oven."
Noah looked at the closed door and shook his head, heading to the kitchen for his dinner.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott and Allison arrive at the party in the backyard. They walk through the house toward the back patio, where they find dozens of party attendees dancing and drinking around the swimming pool and the fire pits scattered across the yard.
As they take the party in, Scott notices Derek Hale standing in the shadows behind a fire pit located by the gate to the yard. He and Scott stare at each other for a long moment as a nearby dog starts barking at Derek, who uses his animal instincts to quiet the dog with simply a look.
"Stalker." Calida coughed into her arm making Lydia, Allison, Jeremy and Bonnie laugh while Derek glared at her. "What?" She shrugged, smiling innocently.
Derek then resumes staring at Scott until Allison, noticing Scott's distraction, interrupts them. "You okay?"
Scott looked away blinking at Allison, "What? Yeah I'm fine." He smiled. Scott looks back at where Derek was just standing, only to find that he has vanished. His gaze travels up to the roof, where he sees a shadowy figure leaping across the top of the Martin House under the full moon overhead, causing him to frown in concern. When he returns to looking at Allison, he notices that she's holding out her left hand and waiting for Scott to take it, which he finally does with a smile.
Calida entered the house, looking around for someone she actually knows and speaks to, while some pointed and whispered. It was shocking to see Calida at one of Lydia Martin parties.
This was one of the first parties she's been to since middle school.
"Really?" Bonnie asked.
Calida nodded, "We had a falling out. I just stopped showing up. It was really a..." Calida glared at Scott, who was too busy talking with Elena to notice, "Misunderstanding." Bonnie glanced at Scott and Elena then at Calida and Lydia before shaking her head.
She had a feeling it wasn't a misunderstanding at all.
Calida slowly made her way towards the back, glancing around before she started walking towards the snack table
Lydia, Jackson and Danny were hanging out near the fence, talking, while looking around. "Are you sure she said she was coming?" Jackson asked his girlfriend.
Lydia huffed, "Yes. She said she would be here."
"Guys," Danny elbowed Jackson, "Look." He pointed towards the snack table, where Calida stood, pouring herself a cup of punch.
Lydia smiled, "Come on!" She grabbed, Jackson and Danny hand, pulling them towards Calida. "Hey! You made it!" Lydia shouted over the music.
Calida spun around, blinked once, before smiling a little. "Yeah, told you I would come." She shrugged, awkwardly.
Kol smiled, "That never left." He said softly.
Klaus chuckled, "No it hasn't." When Tatianna was a child, she was soft spoken, but fun, but also so awkward when she's in new places.
Lydia glanced at her outfit, "You look nice." She complimented, "I love the skirt."
Calida laughed a little, "Thanks."
Allison, Bonnie, and Caroline nodded, Calida outfit did look nice. Even Rebekah found her nieces outfit cute.
Elena though only rolled her eyes. Why did Calida have to be so dressy? Couldn't she have thrown on some jeans and a shirt?
Danny smiled, "Want to dance?" He asked holding out his hand.
Calida glanced at his hand, hesitant for a moment, before slowly nodded. "Sure." Calida set her cup down, grabbing his hand.
Jackson smiled, "Come on!" He pulled Lydia to the dance floor, Danny following with Calida.
The scene cuts to Scott and Allison dancing by the pool. Allison puts her right arm around his neck, and the two get closer and closer to each other. Allison runs her fingers through the back of Scott's hair with a smile before burrowing her face his neck. This gives Scott the chance to keep looking around the yard.
His gaze eventually falls onto Lydia, Jackson, Danny and Calida who were all dancing together. Scott brows furrowed wondering why the four of them were together. Why was Calida even at this party? Why didn't she tell him she was going?
Calida scoffed, "Because it was none of your business."
Scott looked confused and hurt, "Of course it was my business!"
"How?"
Scott blinked, "How? How what?"
"How was it your business?" Calida asked him, glaring. "How was me going to the party any of your business?" Scott opened and closed his mouth, not knowing what to say. "Thought so." She muttered looking back at the screen.
Isaac glanced at Calida, even if she didn't show it outwardly, Isaac could see that Calida was hurt and angry.
Calida looked down when she felt someone grab her hand. She looked at Isaac but was staring at the screen. With a smile, Calida looked back at the screen.
Allison touches his neck, and Scott turns back to her, both now nose-to-nose, and just when it looks like they're about to kiss, Scott's fingers tighten around the back of Allison's jacket as the full moon finally starts to take effect in his body. He's suddenly stricken with a terrible headache caused by all of his senses being heightened all at once, and he groans as he clutches his temples with both hands. Allison stops dancing and looks at him with concern.
"Are you okay?"
Scott continues to groan until the ache subsides slightly, opening his eyes just enough to see where he's going as he turns to go somewhere private and ride the sickness out. "I'll be right back."
Scott heads inside the house, leaving Allison alone in the backyard. As Scott walks through the dining room, his vision starts to get shaky and blurry. He passes some of his classmates and Harley, who looked at him worriedly.
"Yo, Scott, you good?"
Scott is too overwhelmed to respond to Zofia' question and instead continues making his way through the house, passing a guy in the living room, who also seems concerned by Scott's obvious pain.
"Are you okay?"
Scott pushes on through the foyer and out the front door, where he stumbles down the stone staircase to where he parked Melissa's car. Allison, looking both confused and hurt, follows Scott until she sees him get into the car and drive off without another word. Just then, she hears her name being called out.
"Allison."
Calida and Allison shot Derek looks while the man shrugged. "He left you alone." He reminded them.
"True" Allison grumbled.
Allison turns around to see Derek standing behind her with a charming smile "I'm a friend of Scott's."
"Ha. Scott didn't have friends back then."
"MOM!"
"Am I wrong?"
Allison looks back at the road that Scott took to get home before turning back toward Derek, who takes another step toward her "My name's Derek."
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott has just rushed upstairs to his bedroom, where he locks the door before sliding down it into a crouching position. Directly in front of him is his open bedroom window, which gives him a perfect look at the full moon in the sky. Groaning in pain, he stumbles into the attached bathroom and strips out of his jacket and T-shirt before climbing into the bathtub and turning on the shower so that hot water pours over him. This seems to give him some momentary relief until he suddenly grits his teeth in pain and anxiously rubs his right hand over his face to try to distract himself from it. He seems to get a headache from his extra-heightened senses and grips the sides of the bathtub. Suddenly, his fingers start to ache, and when he looks down at the palms of his water-swollen hands, he is horrified to see his fingernails growing into long, sharp claws.
"WHAT THE HELL!"
"What kind of wolf is that?"
"A shifter, or Lycan wolf."
Jeremy looked at them confused, "What's the difference between a Lycan wolf and a werewolf?"
Klaus shifted, in his seat to face the young Gilbert child. "Lycan wolves, can transform at will and maintain a degree of their human minds once they have an anchor. It allows them to control their actions and keep their intelligence. Their more like humanoid figures, fangs, claws, glowing eyes "
"And werewolves?"
"Well, werewolves, transform into a huge wolf, we lost most of our human intelligence, the beast mind taking over. For a normal wolf. We have more animalistic behavior in wolf forms."
Jeremy hummed, taking some notes on it, while Bonnie watched him with a fond smile.
Frantically getting out of the shower, Scott looks in the mirror over the medicine cabinet and is even more overwhelmed to find his canine teeth growing into fangs and his irises glowing a bright gold color. Scott tried to catch his breath, but the room felt to small. That was when Scott caught the light of the full moon out the window.
The scene cuts to outside the house, where Scott has just opened the window to his second-floor bedroom and jumped out. He lands on his feet on the ground below in a three-point stance, splashing in the rain puddle left from the previous night. Scott then completes his transformation into his Werewolf form, complete with a ridged brow, pointed ears, mutton chops, gold glowing eyes, claws, and fangs. Saliva drips from the tips of his elongated canine teeth as he looks up at the full moon and roars.
Calida looked at Scott, "If you could roar like that, how come you didn't during that night at school?"
Derek laughed a little as Scott blushed in embarrassment.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
In the BEACON HILLS PRESERVE, Scott jumps on top of Derek's car, which is parked just out front of the entrance sign. He looks inside to see that neither Allison nor Derek are there before he heads into the woods.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Back at the party, Calida grabbed a cup of punch, when her phone started ringing. Setting her cup down, Calida pulled out her phone, seeing it was Melissa calling.
"Hey Mama Mel." Calida answered.
"Hey honey. How's the party?"
"It's good." Calida smiled, moving to a corner. "What do you need?"
"Can you stop by the house on your way home? I forget to lock the doors and knowing Scott, he's not going to lock them either."
"Yeah, no problem." Calida told her.
"Thanks. Go back to the party."
Calida laughed, hanging up, sliding her phone back in her purse.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Scott, fully transformed, is running through the woods, using his new superhuman sense of smell to track Allison's scent in order to locate her and Derek.
"Was you there?" Bonnie asked concerned.
Allison shook her head, "No I was home."
Derek nodded, "I used her jacket to lure Scott into the woods."
Scott continues to run though the woods, following her scent until he reaches a clearing, where he finds Allison's jacket hanging on a branch and realizes that it was the scent he was following, and not the scent of Allison herself. When Derek steps out of the shadows, Scott glares at him and growls in warning.
"Where is she?"
"She's safe... from you."
Derek tackles Scott, leading to the two of them to continue to roll down a slight hill. Once they reach the bottom, Derek pulls Scott to his feet and pins him against a tree
"What did you do with her?" Scott asked fighting against Derek.
Derek shushes him "Shh, quiet." He tilted his head listening to the sounds "Too late. They're already here. Run." Derek runs away, but Scott, not understanding what is going on, takes a beat to catch on. This distraction ends up working against him when a flash-bang arrow flies past him, blinding him momentarily.
As he recovers, another arrow is shot at him, which goes through his left forearm and pins him to the tree. Suddenly, a group of three middle-aged male Hunters step out of the shadows, with the leader, Argent, holding a crossbow aimed right at Scott while Derek watches from a distance.
"Argent!" Melissa smacks Chris upside the head.
"Dang it woman." Chris glared at him rubbing his head.
Jeremy looked at Chris, "You're a hunter?" He asked.
"Yes." Chris nodded.
Jeremy looked at Allison, "Hunter-in-training." Jeremy hummed.
"Take him."
Derek sneaks up behind one of the hunters and threw him back, before grabbing the other hunter, smacking his head against the tree, leaving Chris outnumbered. Taking advantage of the distraction, Zofia runs off and Derek pulls the arrow out of Scott's arm, causing him to roar in pain.
"AHHHH!"
Melissa winced and smacked Chris again making him groan.
The two quickly run away, and when Chris finishes checking on his men, he looks back at the tree to find that Scott is gone
Once Derek and Scott have run far enough away from the Hunters to feel that the coast is clear, Scott, now in his human form, falls to his knees as he recovers from the overwhelming combination of transforming into a Werewolf, believing Allison to be in danger, and being shot by Hunters. He looks at Derek with an expression of anger, hurt, and betrayal. "Who were they?" He asked
"Hunters. The kind that have been hunting us for centuries."
Chris shifted in his seat, at the eyes of the humans on him. "Yes my family have been hunters for many years."
Calida remembered the research she did and how much she found about the Argents, "Oh yeah. Many years." She muttered.
Scott glares furiously at Derek "Us? You mean you! You did this to me!"
Derek crouch's down in front of Scott "Is it really so bad, Scott? That you can see better? Hear more clearly? Move faster than any human could ever hope? You've been given something that most people would kill for. The Bite is a gift."
Scott, frustrated and exhausted, continues to glare at Derek "I don't want it."
"You will. And you're gonna need me if you want to learn how to control it." Derek places his hand on Scott's shoulder "So you and me, Scott? We're brothers now." Derek walks away, leaving Scott alone to process the events of the evening.
Calida laid a hand on Derek's shoulder, giving him some comfort .
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Calida, parked her Jeep in the McCall drive way, grabbing her keys and heading towards the door when she noticed the open window. That's when she remembered.
The Full Moon.
The door slammed against the wall, Calida rushed upstairs, throwing Scott bedroom door open. The messy bed, claw marks on the floor, the open window. "Fuck." Calida rushed back downstairs, locking up the house quickly, before getting in her Jeep and driving off.
Lydia sighed, "He didn't deserve your help." She whispered to Calida.
"Yeah," Calida sighed, "I know."
Hope and Faith shared looks wondering how their mother is going to react when she saw her and Scott's future.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
Calida drives slowly through the back roads. Scott is walking alongside the rode when Calida stopped next to him. "Get in." Calida opened the door.
Scott slides in the passenger seat, grabbing the sweatshirt he left in Calida Jeep, pulling it over his head. Calida waited until he was settled before she started driving again.
Scott finally broke the silence, "You know what actually worries me the most?"
Calida side eyed him for a moment "If you say "Allison," I'm gonna punch you in the head."
Scott groaned, "She probably hates me now."
Calida rolled her eyes.
Allison looked at her soon to be ex, "Are you kidding me?" Scott looked at her confused. "Scott I'm flattered that you worried about me, but you have more important things to worry about." Allison explained to him.
Calida rolled her eyes "Ugh. I doubt that. But you might want to come up with a pretty amazing apology." Scott sighed sadly. Calida shook her head, leaving one hand on the steering wheel, the other resting on the door.
¦¦¦∆∆¦¦¦
After school, on Monday Scott is waiting outside the front entrance to the school for Allison so that he can apologize to her. When he finally sees her leave the school and head toward the parking lot, he approaches her.
"So what happened? You left me stranded at the party." Allison said frowning.
Scott nodded, holding his bag tightly "Yeah, I-I know, I know. I'm really sorry, I am. But you're gonna have to trust that I had a really good reason."
Allison frowned, "Did you get sick?"
Scott sighs at the reminder of what happened on Friday "...I definitely had an attack of something."
Allison raised a brow "Am I gonna get an explanation?" She asked.
"Nope."
"Maybe you should have." Allison rolled her eyes.
Calida nodded. She wanted to tell Allison but Scott didn't want to. Of course Allison was going to find out, she was an Argent, she was going to find out one way or another.
Scott puts on his best innocent smile "Can you just find it in your heart to trust me on this one?"
"Am I gonna regret this?"
Scott, still smiling, shrugs sheepishly "Probably. So is that a "yes" on a second chance?"
Allison smiled, "Definitely yes."
They smile at each other for a moment until they're interrupted by a car horn beeping near them. When Allison looks up to find the source of the noise, she sees a familiar burgundy SUV and prepares to leave "That's my dad. I better go." Allison smiled one last time before walking towards her dad.
Scott is about to turn back toward the school to go to lacrosse practice when he suddenly catches a scent that he recognizes and turns back around. When he looks toward the SUV, he sees that Allison's father is Chris Argent, the leader of the trio of Hunters who shot him several nights earlier. Argent catches Scott staring at them, and Scott, stunned into speechlessness, waves at them awkwardly before watching them pull away to head home, horrified at the realization that the girl he wants to date is the daughter of a Werewolf Hunter.
