Chapter Text
Agent 4 stood there slack-jawed as the other had taken their words to heart(s) and silently approached the fridge only to have bitten the handle of the door with a cringe worthy sound before they paused and opened the door to promptly pull out a soda can. The roboling then bit into the can and drank from the two holes punctured into it and Four didn’t really have the right to tell them no when she had done the same thing once when feeling particularly lazy.
“You- Uh- A fan of Squid Sister’s Callie’s Coconut Crush? Me too.” Four awkwardly laughed. “I’ve got plenty of them so you can have another if you want.” This was still a lot to process. But now that she had the opportunity the agent took a better look at them since she wasn’t being chased or worried about being attacked. Their skin was pale with what one would call the ‘wave’ tentacle style. They wore the same outfit and mask she had in that dreaded spire.
However unlike Four’s vibrant marigold ink color the other’s was a near black color with the slightest specs of red. “You didn’t change much, huh?” Seeing the tentacle cut was a bit odd as she remembered the others had been, well, bald. “Scrap that. You did a little bit, buddy!”
It was at that moment when the agent called them buddy that the roboling seemed to perk up as if they recognized it somehow. They opened the fridge correctly this time and put the can back in before walking over to her and seemed to suddenly play charades? What.
“Yeah- Was gonna say put it back if you don’t finish it.”
They stood up before kind of sinking down almost in a way that looked like they fell on purpose but it only confused Agent 4 more. “Um. Are you trying to tell me something? I thought you wanted to fill your stomach.” However the roboling stood back up and grabbed Agent 4’s face squeezing it as if they were irritated before letting go and resuming their act.
They struck a pose this time. Leaning a bit and tilting their head as they brought both of their hands to their face- wait. WAIT.
Four should’ve known!! That was her buddy at the back of the group who tended to be a little distracted sometimes and had to be pulled along so they would work in sync with the others. Though let it be clear it wasn’t ever her who pulled them into the ink but one of the others and she still wasn’t sure how they did it. Aside from calling them her buddies she had assigned each them of a nickname.
This one was Echo.
“Echo!” Agent 4 laughed as the robot tilted it’s head. Truly Agent 4 was the only one in the squidbeak splatoon who could go from panicking to laughing in such a short amount of time.
