This work was created for Voiceteam 2024, specifically the "Voice Battle" challenge (see more about Voiceteam challenges). Written for a one-hour filk battle, but I did end up tweaking a few lines after the time limit!

Notes:

Not sure how clearly it comes across, but in my mind it's ambiguous whether Meng Yao (a) wants Nie Mingjue to trust him so that he won't have to kill him, (b) is planning to kill him but conflicted about it and thus warning Nie Mingjue to watch out for assassination attempts, or (c) is threatening Nie Mingjue to shape up or else.

Insert Anakin & Padme meme: "I'm not like then" → because you won't murder to achieve your ends → because you won't murder to achieve your ends, right?
