Summary
The Sunshot Campaign had been a long and damaging war and many of the regions had been burned and left in a state of unrest. An older Lan Wangji has been traveling along the countryside and aiding those in need, when he finds a small village east of Yiling that is plagued by a strange, resentful energy.
The waters are tainted and the lake's depths unfriendly to any cultivators that try to cleanse them. Lan Wangji is adamant in his goal of aiding the townspeople, as well as appeasing the mysterious, injured Jiaoren that he finds.

This is the motto of the LengshanRu clan, which has been living in seclusion from the cultivator world for more than a century. The cultivators who locked themselves in crystal caves became legends, their products were at astronomical prices.A few years before the beginning of the story, another legend took wing. The legend of the Snow-White Blood Crystal. It is said that the heir of the Ru clan has hair as white as the untouched snow on the mountain tops, and eyes as red as freshly shed blood. He is the pride of the Ru clan, their strongest disciple, the most handsome, bravest young man.
However, the legend does not tell the whole story, the main reason why the clan secludes itself has been forgotten by everyone. Few people know the whole of the Ru clan's motto:
"As a drop of blood the crystal touches the ground.
As the crystal touches the ground, the demon is reborn."
The Ru clan is cursed to be demons descended to earth. Over the past century, they have discovered that the demon within them is only suppressed by blood crystals. Perhaps this is why young Huangjing, the Snow-White Blood Crystal, stepped out of the caves of Lengshan. -

During a supposedly peaceful year, three months before the rebirth of Wei WuXian- the cultivation world shook. A surge of demonic and resentful energy suddenly spread across the world. Urging the leaders of each sect to come out of either seclusion and their own business to deal with the surge of resentful energy. This wasn't in Nie Huaisang's plan at all.
Something seems off. But, no one could do anything about it. Neither can they expect anything.
Some speculated this is some demonic cultivator's joke. But it wasn't funny when some juniors were suddenly involved in this dilemma. The surge of resentful energy had led them all to the Burial Mounds.
But they did not expect them to be teleported to the past. There, they realized their feelings of not only to Wei WuXian himself, but to each other as well. Whoever had done this, better be prepared the return of these clan leaders and juniors. While the world is in panic.
