Chapter Text

Kyouka looked out over the ruined city of Musutafu as she restrung her guitar. It was moments of silence like this, times of stillness amongst the bloody music of her life, that made her reflect on her past.

The past few months had been, frankly, hellish for her. All the blood she shed, even after the deal with the Principal, who began filling her performances with criminals that hadn’t been caught, had permanently stained her hands, and the images of brutal violence would stay with her forever.

The war ended tomorrow. One way or another, someone was going down.

But where would that leave her? Even if the heroes somehow managed to win - and it was a coin toss at this point - she’d still be what she is, a bloody murderer. Nedzu-sensei had assured her that it was out of her control, that she was being forced, but that didn’t make her feel that much better, just more helpless.

Still, she held onto the hope that, one day, there may be a chance for her to reverse what’s been done to her. If she could, she’d be able to reconnect with her friends, with Yaomomo and even Midoriya, whose encouragement she had endlessly appreciated, despite what it led to.

He couldn’t have possibly known what would happen to her.

She sighed, glancing down at her guitar. The beaten up old electric had seen every litre of blood shed right alongside her, and tomorrow, it would see even more. Her role in the battle was simple; she was the advance guard, placed deep within the abandoned city near a thoroughfare the villains’ army would have to pass through; Kurogiri couldn’t warp anywhere near UA, thanks to its defences.

She was there to thin the numbers.

The buildings around her had been rigged with a speaker system that would amplify her playing to catch as many of the villains within her song as possible. She was under no illusion that she could get rid of all of them that way, but it would certainly help against the greater numbers the villains had against them.

For better or for worse, it was certainly going to be the performance of a lifetime.
