Chapter Text
Inko stared at her son, her shock clear on her face as her smile fell. She stared at Izuku, who shrunk at her unwavering stare.
“He’s what?” She repeated, watching as Izuku scratched the back of his head, looking to the ground in guilt.
Izuku tried to look anywhere but his mother, finding it to be very hard as her stare seemed to cut into him. “He’s um..” He tried to speak, stumbling over the next words as Inko looked at him impatiently. It took several more tries before Izuku managed to speak properly.
“It’s.. a long story mum.” Sighing in defeat, he watched as his mother crossed her arms expectantly waiting for him to explain himself.
Sitting himself down in a nearby chair, Izuku rubbed his hands together to try and ease his nerves. He glanced up at Inko only to look at the closest wall to avoid her gaze.
“So.. Harvey is a Pro Hero, and um…is 24.. yeah.” Risking a look up at his mum he nearly flinched at her expression. Jumping up from the seat he rushed towards Inko, waving his arms frantically.
“No no! It’s nothing- nothing bad I promise! We met on a hero forum for underground Heroes, the same one I showed you when you asked who I always talked to on there. I know you aren’t happy I was talking to an adult the past few years but remember he only gave me his number last year because he was moving and wanted to talk to you-“ Izuku kept rambling on and on, no longer paying attention to his mum who watched him rant silently, a pensive look on her face as she listened to his words.
Midoriya Inko watched her son closely as he started to pace, still speaking at an inhuman speed. She knew that they had met on an English hero forum, she had even spoken to Harvey several times on it pretending to be her son, only to find he was exactly like her son said he was and the opposite of what she feared him to be.
“Izuku.” She called out, her son not pausing once.
“Izuku!” She tried again, louder and firmer, finally getting his attention. Standing still, Izuku looked at his mum, hands gripped together tightly to stop them from shaking or grabbing at his clothes. He watched as Inko stepped forward and held his shoulder firmly.
“I am deeply upset that you kept this from me. And apparently lied to Harvey about the fact that I ‘knew’ when I didn’t.” Izuku stayed still while Inko spoke, watching as she sucked in a sharp breath.
“We can talk about this properly at dinner and then again when Harvey gets here. But he will not, and I mean not, be left alone with you until I deem him safe enough.” She finished sternly, watching Izuku rapidly nod before she let go of his shoulders.
Backing away from his mum to put some space back between them Izuku rubbed at his chest idly, feeling a bit uncomfortable. Nodding to himself he listened to his mum shuffle to the kitchen as he reached down to grab his bag, pausing as a wet cough forced its way out of his mouth. Shaking his head, he lifted his bag up onto his shoulder and started in the direction of his room, calling over his shoulder as he did.
“I’m going to get started on my homework mum!”
Inko popped her head out of the kitchen where she had gone to start making their dinner. “What would you like to eat?”
Izuku grinned, ignoring the tightness in his chest once more. “Anything mum, everything you make is delicious!”
Grinning at the loud laughter from the kitchen, he continued down the hallway before making it to his door, staring up at the All Might name plaque on the door, feeling his smile slip into a small frown. Looking away from the bright All Might colours Izuku opened his door, frowning even more as he’s assaulted by the sheer amount of All Might stuff in his room, from posters to action figures- you name it.
Placing his bag on his desk, Izuku looked between the bag and his bed, suddenly feeling more tired than he was a few seconds ago. “It’s probably just been a day.” He muttered to himself, trying to rationalize why he felt so tired, which made sense as it had been an eventful and tiring day.
Taking off his gakuren jacket and toeing his slippers off, Izuku crawled on top of his covers, suddenly very glad he forgot to open his room's curtains that morning. “Just a small nap is fine..” It didn’t take long before Izuku was out like a light, the tightness in his chest going ignored.
Around forty minutes later Izuku woke with a gasp, breaths coming out strained as the tightness in his chest from earlier changed to a sharp stab. He rolled onto his side, wheezing and straining as he felt weaker than normal. Leaning out to grab his phone, briefly wondering why he placed it so far away, Inko knocked on his door.
“Izuku sweetie? Dinners ready.” Inko's voice came, muffled through the door. Izuku stretched his arm as far as he could, unable to sit up from how heavy his limbs felt. Fingers brushed his phone, a weak smile crossing his face before it got knocked onto the floor, making a bang.
“Izuku?” Inko called again, knocking on the door. “Are you okay, I heard a bang?”
Izuku watched as his door opened slowly, seeing his mothers face slowly peak around the door. He coughed weakly, sounding almost as if he was gurgling water.
Inko froze at the sight of her son laying on his bed, his face pale as he took shallow breaths. Hearing the sound his cough made made her move, making her way to her son quickly, gently feeling his face. Frowning, she felt his forehead, taking her hand back just as quickly from how much he was burning up. Making her mind up, Inko grabbed her phone from her cardigan pocket, dialing the emergency services.
Izuku watched his mum type something on her phone, his vision beginning to get fuzzy as he coughed again, this time feeling something slimy come up with it. Spitting it out, he saw the green and gray blob, thinking it looked just like the slime villain from earlier. With his vision gradually fading, the last thing he heard was his mother speaking.
“Hi, yes? Yes please I need an ambulance, it’s my son he’s-!”
