Work Text:
Morning. Too soon. The groan was instinctive.
Sensation returning. Tangled sheets. Tangled limbs. Not just his own. Heavy and silken, weighing him down.
A confused blink. Dawn light streaming onto the bed. He thought his bedroom faced west. Too bright. His eyes slammed shut again.
A careful touch. Exploring. Curls. Everywhere. On the pillow, the mattress, his chest. Warm and scented.
An inhale. Sandalwood, citrus... Ziva.
Oh... Not his bedroom.
Consciousness rising. A flash of memory. The orchard. A promise she couldn't... wouldn't make. A kiss that met only air.
The shower. Her bedroom. The one thing she could give. Skin, hair, lips, tongue. The moment when he lost himself inside her.
With that recollection, he was wide awake.
He lay still. The peace was deeper than he'd ever known. Moving would be the beginning of the end.
Her body tensed anyway. A waking sigh. Hazy eyes and a sleepy smile. A kiss as warm as the rest of her.
Suddenly she was over him. On him. Memories realised in flesh. Maybe she wanted to hold on a little longer too.
Afterglow. A shared pillow. Waking up together. It would still end, but it hurt less now.
“No regrets?”
“None.”
