Shinichi ran behind the building where the men in black went, Shinichi looked around the corner, and sees another man with one of the men in black.
“Here! I came alone just like you asked!” The man exclaimed, holding a large briefcase.
“Yes, I saw from the rollercoaster,” The man in black smiled, “as promised, here’s the USB.” The man throws the USB over as the other man gives him the briefcase.
“You promise this is the only copy of it?” The man asks in a worry.
“Of course it is,” the man in black says as he takes the briefcase and opens it, revealing stacks of yen.
Woah! That’s a lot of yen! Shinichi thought, already taking out his camera to snap a photo of the transaction.
He then heard footsteps behind him, his head darted back to see the other man in black behind him, holding a metal bat.
Shinichi took a moment to process what was before him, before attempting to run away, only to feel the harsh hit of the bat in his head. He toppled down onto the ground.
“You idiot! You got tailed by this kid!”
“Wait…Isn’t this that detective brat? Let’s kill him!”
“No, the place is still crawling with cops, let’s use this new poison that’s untraceable in the body I got from the syndicate.”
The man pulls out a small compartment containing a white and red pill.
“It hasn’t been tested on humans, let’s test it out on this kid!”
The man forced Shinichi’s mouth open and forced him to swallow the pill, Shinichi had no energy left to fight back.
The men stood up and left the scene,
“So long…great detective.”
Just then, Shinichi’s entire body flared up.
Ack-! It feels like my body’s burning! Like- my bones are melting!
Shinichi grabbed onto the grass for support, but it couldn’t stop his screams of agony.
No-! I can’t die here! I still-
That was his final thought before he fell unconscious.

Shinichi’s eyes snapped open, he bolted upright.
“Am I…alive?” Shinichi gasped, “Ah! The poison hasn’t been tested on humans! I got lucky.”
Just then, two security guards came over,
“Hey there’s a dead body over here!”
What…?
“Wait! What are you talking about? I’m-!” Shinichi stood up and ran over to the security guards, only for them to walk through him.
“Huh…?” Shinichi’s eyes widened, “How did that-…”
Shinichi turned around, only to see to security guards leaning over his dead body.
“What…? NO! NO!” Shinichi backed away, having no air left to breathe, he didn’t need to breathe since he was a ghost anyways.
“IT CAN’T-! I…” Shinichi felt his vision blur, tears beginning to fall down his face.
“AAAAAUGH GODDAMIT!” Shinichi shouted, only no one would hear him.
The security guards talked with eachother, “Hey? Isn’t this that Highschool detective?” They quickly took out their phones to dial the police.
“IT’S…It…It’s not…” Shinichi felt himself slowly lose his mind, he felt he couldn’t form a coherent sentence. “I…What about Ran? I need to check on her!”
Shinichi wasted no time to sprint to Mouri Detective Agency, possibly in the fastest time he’s ever ran.
He phased through the door, only to see Ran watching the news, seeing…
Himself.
And Ran crying, it hurt so much to see her cry.
The TV flicked off, as Ran took out her phone and dialed Shinichi’s number. Shinichi wanted to answer, but his phone was outside of his reach.
Shinichi heard his familiar voicemail, it felt so melancholy
“Shinichi! Please…Please tell me the news was lying-…It…It can’t be- you can’t be dead.” Ran practically bawled her eyes out, it hurt so badly.
“…I love you Shinichi…”
“I love you too.”
Shinichi hadn’t caught himself saying it, but he didn’t take back his statement.
“This has to be some kind of sick joke!” Ran cried, “I’m going to Shinichi’s house!”
“Wait! Ran!” Both him and Kogoro shouted at the same time, but Ran was already long gone.
“I…I’m so sorry Ran.”
