Chapter Text
~All Might's POV~
Toshinori smiles internally at hearing the kid dig into the heroes, as he can tell they are more in it for money or fame. He likes to see the best in his fellow heroes, though, and he can see Kamui Woods and Mount Lady's potential to become respectable heroes. He's always had an accurate intuition for good heroes. Like Captain Celebrity, who has improved greatly since the Tokyo Sky Egg incident. He's still good friends with the Number 3 American Hero.
Ah, but he shouldn't get distracted. He really feels ashamed of himself for just standing there like an idiot. In retrospect, he feels like the words were directed at him, though not intentionally from the kid. He does take the criticism to heart though, never passing up a chance to improve himself. He sighs in relief, slumping against the wall of an alleyway he managed to find. As much as he appears friendly to the media, he has to agree with Eraserhead, they really are vultures. Part of him regrets his fame, but he shakes those negative thoughts away.
♤Izuku's POV♤
Izuku is still trying to wrap his head around his verbal desecration of the heroes on the scene of the attack. He's probably gonna be in a bit of trouble. He sighs, running a hand through his messy hair, (it's normally well maintained, he takes pride in looking stunning and having good hair, okay?)
He grumbles as he hears footsteps approaching from behind, and he pauses his music, noticing Bakugo doing his weird ass crab walk. (Seriously, did he have squirrels in his pants or something?) He raises an eyebrow, fully on guard as Bakugo yelled at him, brash and angry as always. "Oi, nerd! I didn't need your help! I was doing perfectly fine!" Izuku sighs, shaking his head and turning to walk away, to his surprise-
"I'm John Baker, Japanese correspondent for the BBC, here to report to you the aftermath of a villain attack in Mustuafu,
in the Shizuoka Prefecture. A tragic incident has occurred, as the young hostage caught by the villain has been rushed to hospital, after being suffocated by a Sludge-like villain, taken down by the Number 1 Hero, All Might. He was resuscitated on the sight of the attack. More news to come on this-"
Izuku blinks away the news report vision, confused, as it wasn't even from a news outlet in Japan. Is he seeing alternate versions of event? Never mind. He can geek out about it and theorise when he gets home. He's going to get to the bottom of this.
He continues to walk, but startles and pauses his music again as All Might in his muscle form bursts out of the alleyway, laughing boisterously. "Young Man, I am here to make-" Izuku takes out a handkerchief and hands it to All Might as the now skeletal man coughs up blood (yuck.), wiping his mouth. "Thank you, young man. Anyway, I came here to say thank you for inspiring me to move. I felt so useless, but seeing a quirkless boy run to save his classmate proved that anyone can be brilliant heroes." Izuku saw a look of almost pride on All Might's face.
"Thank you, All Might. Um... my body kind of just moved on it's own. I... almost went home, and I kinda hate myself for it." Izuku says, admitting his guilt, even if he was lying a bit, about almost thinking Death Arms was in trouble and leaving him to die. Who'd believe him if he said he had weird visions? Especially since today was the first day he'd had them...
Oh god, had he'd been mumbling? Did All Might hear him? Oh great... He feels his chest tighten with anxiety, that All Might was going to take back his earlier statement...
"Woah there my boy. Slow down, I can't understand you."
Izuku breathes a sigh of relief as he realises All Might didn't hear him. He looks up at the blonde man, the Number One hero's gaunt face stretched with a smile.
"Sorry about all that, young boy. As I was saying, I came to make an offer. And, kid, there's one trait every great hero shares in their origin stories."
Izuku tilts his head up, his heart warmed by his idol's praise and words. He smiles at All Might. "And that would be?" Izuku asked, getting increasingly curious, as he bounces on the balls of his feet, and All Might chuckles at this, coughing into the handkerchief he was given, grin only growing wider.
"Their bodies moved on their own." All Might breathes, his heroic smirk shifting into something more genuine. His eyes seemed to glow in the low light of the sunset. Izuku feels his excitement blossom at these words and grins.
**~All Might POV~**
Toshinori smiles at the young boy in front of him, the inspiring young man having kicked his ass into gear with his brave actions, no matter if he was being reckless. "What's your name, kid?" He asks, raising an eyebrow curiously. He sees the kid only get more excited.
"Izuku! Izuku Midoriya. Nice to meet you, All Might. I should probably get home soon. Thank you for saving my life." Toshinori could only beam at the boy as he bows. Yes, if he accepted, which he would not force on the boy, never, he would be a brilliant successor. "Wait, kid. Hold on, I have a proposal for you." He watches as Young Midoriya turns round to face him, a curious glint in his eyes.
♤Izuku's POV♤
Izuku faces the Number One Hero, mind racing with possibilities of what this proposal could be, he fiddles with the miscellaneous rings on his fingers to calm his nerves that are rapidly bubbling to the surface. "What is the offer, All Might, sir?" He asks meekly-
"Interesting. So many applications for a quirk... I think I might just have to take it." Nine narrows his eyes, as he picks up Izuku by the face. Izuku panics, no, he can't lose One For All, can he-?
Izuku gently slaps his arm to get rid of the vision, blinking owlishly at All Might. "Um- Sorry All Might. Can you repeat that? I kind of... zoned out." Izuku says quietly, feeling slightly annoyed at his loss of concentration, he really needs to pay better attention...
He looks at All Might. "No problem, Young Midoriya. As I was saying, would you like to have my quirk? That is my offer-" Izuku chokes on air, eyes widening rapidly.
"I'm sorry, what? You, pass on your quirk to me- t-that's unheard of... I'm so- I mean, people have theorized on what your quirk is for years, you just deflect it with a joke- Sorry, sorry, you were probably going to explain.." Izuku cringes, waving his hands and putting a hand on the back of his neck, slightly embarrassed at the way he started rambling, interrupting All Might.
"Don't worry kid, it's totally alright. In fact, it's brilliant that you have a sharp mind, hone that and you'll be an even better hero. But remember this, it's not just about strength. Don't let people say that your rambles are weird, I'm already intrigued by them, Young Midoriya. As I was saying, my quirk is special... it's called One For All." Izuku openly gapes upon hearing this, didn't he hear that in that strange vision? One For All definitely rang a bell. "People have theorised and asked about the truth behind my quirk ever since I made my debut, not just here in Japan, but in America too. The secret of my quirk though, is extremely well concealed. This power was passed onto me, like a sacred torch, getting stronger each time it is passed down. And now, I would like to pass this torch on to you, Young Midoriya." All Might spreads his arms out dramatically, the setting sun seeming to intensify, wrapping All Might in an ethereal light, almost like he was an angel descending from heaven.
"I am the Eighth user. I want to make the offer for you to be the Ninth, Young Midoriya. I think though, that no matter what your decision is, you will make a fabulous hero. I just hope to be able to support such a heroic boy in his journey... even if you reject my offer." All Might says, a kind, genuine smile on his face, 'It's different to the one he puts on in front of the media', Izuku notes, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Yes! A thousand times yes, All Might sir. I can see it means a lot to you, and I really want to accept. But, my mum will probably be suspicious if I suddenly gain a quirk. Is it okay to tell her...? She's a lawyer, and much smarter than she seems to let on, I suspect." Izuku says, looking at All Might expectantly.
"I would have said no, but I can see in your eyes just how much she means to you, so I'll come over with you soon to explain. Thank you, for taking this offer. I promise I will do my best as a mentor, even though I may not be good..." He sees All Might... shiver? What? What thought just caused All Might to shiver.
"Alright, you should go home for now. For training, meet me at Dagobah Municipal Beach tomorrow. 6AM. I'll be bringing a... s-special guest-" Izuku watches as All Might takes a deep breath, slapping his shaking legs. He wonders to himself who scares All Might that badly...
"-Sorry. I-I'll bring a special guest to help train you to be able to hold One For All." All Might gives a shaky smile.
"You too, Young Midoriya, can be a hero." Izuku feels his heart blossom, finally hearing a proper full affirmation from his favourite hero. The tears that have been pushed back, ignored, wiped or laughed at finally spilled over, running down his face.
"Thank you, All Might. I won't let you down." Izuku says, voice hardening resolutely. He hands a piece of paper to All Mught with shaking hands after scrawling on it shakily, smiling. "It's good to stay in contact, sir. See you tommorow, All Might."
~All Might POV~
Toshinori watches as the spirited young man walks away. 'No, you won't let me down. Something inside me tells me... you'll be the greatest hero this world has ever seen.' He feels a hope warm his chest for the first time in years, his cynicism seeming to lessen. He smiles, slowly heading towards UA to talk with Nezu. He is confident that this boy will exceed his expectations, and then some. Toshinori bets his life on it.
