Chapter Text
When the sun finally arose, MK was just barely awake while Julia was up and ready, already doing her 50-step skin care routine in the bathroom.
MK was on a walk around the apartment complex where their dorm was. Sure, it was boring, but MK didn’t want to deal with anyone, especially on her second day.
When MK got back, she saw Julia on a stool near the countertop drinking some weird tea. Julia was eyeing MK like she would with her phone 24/7.
“What?” MK thought Julia was acting a bit.. weirder than usual.
“Oh shit- nothing!” Julia didn’t even realize she was staring at MK, but why did she stare at her?
“Well, I’m gonna finish unpacking, so you can.. I don’t know, scroll through MySelfieGram, I guess.” MK walked off, not necessarily wanting to unpack but had to cause if she didn’t, she would probably have to deal with excessive arguments from Julia. Julia looked like she valued perfection anyway.
While MK was unpacking, Julia thought about the previous days with MK. Most of the interactions they’ve had had been mostly neutral for the most part. Most interactions with Julia usually are negative so that’s a first, well for someone she just met.
Julia then focused on MK’s appearance. MK had a yellow shirt with a green neckline also with a green long-sleeve undershirt along with some turquoise leggings. She didn’t have the most horrible fashion taste in the world after all. MK’s red coat lay on the couch along with her phone. Julia had an urge to try and grab the phone and look through it, but eventually resisted. Just then, the phone lit up with a text message.
Julia got up from the stool she was sitting on and hovered over the phone to look who sent the message. It was from someone named “fuck yourself”.. wait what? Guess MK had some.. questionable contact names.
The message was basically just asking what MK was doing, sure it was basic, but that’s all it said.
Then, another message popped up.
“if u don’t answer me im telling mom ur gay”
Julia was.. confused. I mean, she assumed the message was from her brother from the way they typed and then saying “mom”. Well, Julia just learned some.. new information. Possibly to use against MK for the time being.
MK came back from her room and saw that Julia sat on the couch, hovering over MK’s phone.
“What are you doing with my phone..?”
“Fuck- I mean nothing! There was just a message that popped up and I was curious..”
“Let me see.”
MK then picked up her phone to look at the messages sent. She sighed and facepalmed herself before sending a message back to the person.
“What are you saying to them?” Julia was, by this point, the most curious she’s been since beginning of senior year.
“Telling him to fuck off and leave me alone.”
“You really hate them, don’t you?”
“No shit.”
When MK was done with him and the message, she sighed and rested her hands over her head, leaning on the armrest. She glanced over at Julia who was presumably eyeing her with a certain glint in her eyes, it was almost kind of.. cute in a way?
“So.. about last night-“ MK was cut off when Julia got up, walked over to her, and pressed her finger over MK’s lips. She flustered a little bit at the sudden moment but chose not to say anything. “No- we’re having that conversation later. Just don’t worry about it until that time.” Julia told her, still having her finger pressed onto MK’s lips until she eventually let go.
MK smirked once she realized what Julia was intending to do. “Oh wow, someone decided to try and be flirty today, huh?” She put her hand over her heart, her smirk still present on her face, waiting for Julia’s reaction.
“What..? No.., I just wanted you to shut up.. no big deal.” Julia immediately denied it, flustering a bit at the thought otherwise. Why was MK making her feel these horrible feelings?
MK observed Julia’s flustered face, which felt like, and was, a rare sight to see. She put her hand on Julia’s shoulder, patting it for a few seconds before saying, “sure, princess. You can try and be flirty with me next time.“ Julia just brushed her hand off, chuckling nervously at the thought again before looking away in an attempt to hide her blushing face.
“Now, it’s been fun trying to tease you this morning, but we, unfortunately, have to go to hell.” MK grabbed her jacket from off the couch and hung it over her shoulder. She glanced towards Julia, who was just shielding herself from MK.
Once Julia had thought she collected herself, she faced MK, which was more like looking down at her, but she still managed. “Yeah, we should go.” Julia pondered for a moment. “Oh yeah, what classes do you have? Just wondering.”
“Let me think.. first period is communications, I already hate that class and I haven’t even been to it, just saying. Second period is business. Third one is software engineering and development. And I forgot the rest, but I’ll check later.” MK counted on her fingers each time she listed the classes, thinking about each individual class before moving on to the next. Sure, she hated every class that was listed, but either way, she was forced into it.
Julia thought for a couple seconds, silently going over the list of classes she herself had, even though she already knew which classes she had since she’d been there for half the year. “I got communications too, and yeah, you’re right. It does provoke you to hate it even more each time you enter that class. So, good luck.” MK just groaned in response after that. At least she knew what class she was gonna hate the most.
“Anyways, I’m gonna wait for Emma, again, so I’ll see in first period.. I guess.” Julia looked in MK’s direction for a few moments before straightening her back and treading towards the door. MK watched her as she went. Her blonde and radiant hair flowing as she walked. Her body movements were as if she was a runway model. She looked beautiful.
MK shook her head, trying to get rid of the thoughts inside her head. She was just her roommate. It can’t be more than that. But why does she act like there is more to it?
Once Julia shut the door, that’s when MK decided to actually walk out, just to avoid any suspicion. Thankfully, there was no one around. Once she got out of the apartment building, the cold breeze hit her like a frying pan.. again. She debated whether to get her jacket or not, but decided against it since her hometown was basically like this anyway.
She sat down on a nearby bench, still trying to contemplate her thoughts. It was just acting as if they were more than just roommates, right? MK had done this multiple times, but this time, why’d it feel like she was the one flustered?
Just then, someone tapped her shoulder. MK snapped out of her thoughts and turned her head around, just hoping it wasn’t someone new she had to meet.
Nope, it was just Bowie.
