Chapter Text
That Peter was the first person to notice it wasn't surprising at all. What was surprising was that he hadn't noticed it sooner. He liked to think he knew Derek better than anyone. Well almost better than anyone, Noah's kid was pretty good at reading his grumpy nephew for some reason. But even then, it was actually Chris who figured it out.
Peter and Derek were in the middle of a messy fight with some ferals and it was not going well for them. It was an absolute relief when gunshots filled the air and the ferals dropped to the ground, still and unmoving.
Peter had smelled Chris a few miles from here so he was just buying some time for his mate to arrive and kick ass and Chris hadn't disappointed. When Peter felt a hand on his back and Chris’s warm breath in his ear, he finally let himself come down from the hype of the fight. He gave Chris a reassuring smile. “You took your sweet time getting here.”
Chris sighed and rolled his eyes at his mate. “Well maybe next time text me before you go off getting yourself killed and I can actually be on time to save your gorgeous ass.”
Peter hummed and looked around for his nephew. He found Derek on the ground with Stiles checking his wounds with careful, steady hands. Derek was hurt pretty bad, his bone visible from when one of those damned ferals slashed his thigh. Peter winced, that looked really painful. There were a couple more slashes on his back and chest but they weren't as bad as the one on his leg.
Peter himself hadn't come out of the fight unharmed. He got a few bleeding slashes himself, a deep long gash on his side, was pretty sure more than three of his fingers were broken and possibly a black eye too. Nothing that a good night sleep couldn't fix. Tomorrow morning he'd be as good as new. And so would Derek. Peter moved to go help Derek so they could get the hell out of here and Peter could have a nice shower and cuddle with his favourite human while his body healed when Chris grabbed his arm and kept him there.
“Awww sweetheart, so worried about me that you don't want me out of arm reach?” Peter smiled at his sweet mate.
“What? No. I mean, yes. Shut up. Look.” Chris was blushing a little and Peter's heart melted at that before following Chris's eyes to where Derek was still sitting on the floor. Peter was older than he looked and had seen so many things in life so now there were few things that could still surprise him and Stiles, Noah's sassy little teen was definitely one of those things. Just when Peter thought he had him figured out, the kid would come up with a new way to surprise him. Just like right now. Stiles was sitting next to Derek on the ground. One of his hands was clutching Derek's hand and the other was moving up and down Derek's neck and shoulder, obviously scenting him and radiating warmth and calm and assurance and something else too. Love. He was radiating so much love Peter felt dizzy with it. Stiles was scenting Derek, he was touching Derek's neck and Derek let him. He even tilted his head to give Stiles better access. That wasn't like Derek. He wouldn't even bare his neck at Talia if he could help it and she was both his alpha and his mother but he was baring his neck to Stiles and not only that he even let the young boy touch him. And he looked relaxed, like this was normal behavior.
Peter looked at Chris to see if he too was seeing this or if he had hit his head somewhere in the fight without noticing. Chris looked as shocked and confused as Peter himself felt. So he wasn't seeing things, good. But he was hearing things. He turned around to see Stiles helping Derek up and murmuring things in his ear and again Derek seemed happy with being so close to the human which was weird. Really weird.
“Should we leave?” Stiles asked them this time. Chris nodded and together they walked out of the abandoned building the ferals were hiding in. When they got in Chris's car, Peter felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned his head around to see Stiles looking at him. “You alright?”
Peter didn't trust himself to talk so he just nodded his head. Stiles frowned and looked him up and down. “You sure? You don't have internal bleeding, do you? Or a concussion? You look dazed.” Stiles smelled of worry and anger but Peter knew his anger wasn't pointed at him. Well not entirely if the way he squeezed his shoulder gently was anything.
“I… I'm fine.” Peter got out. Stiles was worried. About him. Why was it so important? Why was Peter breathless?
Stiles smiled at him and with a last squeeze, let go of his shoulder and sat back. What was happening? Why was Peter feeling completely safe and calm now?
“Once you're both healed and rested, Chris and I are gonna kick your ass for your reckless idiotic show tonight.” Stiles said from the backseat, his tone laced with anger and visible concern.
“Sorry, alpha.” Peter winced. Why did he say that?
“Alpha mate.” Chris mumbled and Peter gasped. Now it all made sense. Stiles was Derek's mate. His young alpha had found his mate. Hmm, good for him. It was about time his nephew found someone that wasn't a psychotic killer.
Peter looked over his shoulder only to find Stiles continuing to scent mark his nephew and murmuring sweet nothings in his ear. He felt Derek through the pack bond and he was glowing with content. Did this mean they were a couple? Did they even know about the mates thing? With their level of stupidity, Peter wouldn't be surprised if they thought they were just good friends. Right then, as if he read his mind, Stiles bent down to kiss Derek ever so gently on the lips. The kiss was short and chaste but definitely not their first if the way Derek just smiled (yes actually smiled) and intertwined their fingers was anything to go by.
Peter turned around and relaxed in his seat. So they were a couple. Good. Peter caught Chris's eye and smirked as he thought of all the teasing he had in store for his nephew. Chris just shook his head and kept his attention on the road but his fond smile was enough to tell Peter he was gonna sit and enjoy the drama even if he wouldn't participate. Oh, how Peter loved his man.
Notes:
I thought as Derek's uncle and his closet friend growing up, Peter should be the first person to notice:)
Chapter Text
Lydia was smart. She was also observant. And she liked to think she knew Stiles Stilinsky. Sure, before this whole supernatural hell, she didn't care for him but life was an old bitch that liked to play games and now, she considered Stiles one of her friends. One of the few true friends she had.
At first glance, Stiles didn't seem so… special. He was your ordinary high schooler with a sharp tongue and witty comebacks and a case of ADHD and your routine mental problems but once you actually got to know him, you'd find yourself completely blown away by him because Stiles was absolutely brilliant. Don't tell him she said that but he was. Brilliant.
He was smart, could match her level of sarcasm and was chaotic and mischievous. He was considerate and careful and ridiculously loving and fortunately didn't have a hero complex like Scott.
Once they formed their weird little friend group, Lydia started to notice that she wasn't the only one that Stiles drew in his orbit. Scott, Derek's betas, Danny, and their last addition that actually came as a big surprise to Lydia, Jackson were now Stiles's gang. Lydia meant it as a joke when she called them that but the name kind of stuck with them and now Lydia couldn't help but think how accurate it actually was.
And it was understandable. They were friends and all around the same age and Stiles was like a caretaker to them, the mom friend if you will. What Lydia didn't get and it was bugging her to no end was Derek.
Derek Hale, the big bad alpha wolf was like a puppy around Stiles. He'd find Stiles as soon as he walked in a room, always liked to throw Stiles against walls and lockers and doors and even let Stiles get away with sassy and insulting comments and the nicknames… don't get Lydia started on the nicknames. Lydia was sure if anyone other than Stiles even thought of calling Derek Hale a sourwolf, they would lose some of their internal organs and their ability to speak forever. So yeah, Lydia thought it was safe to say that Derek was fond of the sassy human and Stiles in return had the biggest crush on the alpha.
Lydia wasn't stupid, she noticed when Stiles stopped making heart eyes at her and instead started flirting with Derek. She noticed the little winks and smirks Stiles would give Derek and standing so close in the pack meetings that their shoulders were almost always touching.
With all these signs, Lydia was pretty sure Stiles and Derek were secretly dating but it wasn't until the alpha pack almost made Derek kill Boyd that Lydia knew for sure.
She was standing unmoving at the loft door when Cora and Stiles arrived. Cora ran straight to Boyd, helping him up and taking his pain while Stiles walked straight to Derek who was shaking, Lydia hadn't noticed that. Stiles stepped closer to Derek and Lydia watched him curiously to see what he'd do. But Stiles just stood behind Derek and put his hand on his shoulder. Surely that wouldn't work- Derek's shoulders dropped and he closed his eyes. Stiles stepped even closer to him, letting his legs touch Derek's back. Derek leaned more towards Stiles who gently squeezed his shoulder.
After what felt like ages, Derek's body stopped shaking and Lydia watched as he and Stiles walked to Boyd, helped the young beta up and Derek got him upstairs to rest and heal while Stiles helped a hysterical Cora calm down.
It was only when Peter arrived that Stiles agreed to leave Cora's side and then he walked to Lydia. He stood in front of her, blocking her view of Peter and Cora. Stiles looked her up and down like he was looking for injuries.
“I'm alright. No one hurt me.”
Stiles gave a small smile but didn't say anything. Why wasn't he saying anything? Lydia hated his silence. If he had nothing to say to her, he could just go. She was alright. It wasn't like she just saw someone almost get murdered, right?
She felt arms holding her, Stiles's arms. “Breathe, Lydia.”
“Boyd-” Lydia choked on the name, she couldn't recognize her own voice.
“Is fine. His injuries are not that bad. They'll heal, though a bit longer because they were from an alpha but he'll be okay. I promise.”
Lydia nodded her head and tried to get out of Stiles's arms, he let her.
“Everything's okay, Lydia. You're okay.” Stiles looked her in the eye and gave an assuring smile. Lydia smiled back. “Would you be okay to get back home on your own? No, I think I should drive you.”
“Stiles” Derek's voice came from upstairs.
“Just give me a moment to see what he wants. I'll be right back.” right when Stiles turned to go, Lydia grabbed his wrist. “I'll be okay. Stay with your boyfriend. He needs you more.”
“You sure?” Stiles didn't even look surprised that she called Derek his boyfriend. Huh, so them dating wasn't so much of a secret. How about that?
“Yeah, don't worry about me.” Lydia smiled at him for good measure. He finally just nodded when Derek called his name again, this time more urgent. “Text me when you're home.”
“Will do.” Lydia watched Stiles run up the stairs and smiled to herself. Derek Hale. Stiles could do worse.
Notes:
Bc I loved that scene and bc I adore Lydia and Stiles friendship.
(Also a not really important side note: Jackson is not Kanima here but just a regular werewolf)
Chapter 3: Erica & Isaac
Chapter Text
Boyd was still healing and Erica was restless. She knew she was being annoying but she couldn't help worrying. Issac was pretty much the same. They were constantly pacing around the room, checking on Boyd, asking Stiles when Boyd would heal completely. Stiles was patient with them but Erica didn't know how much longer he would last.
Apparently it was her asking for the hundredth time how Boyd was doing for Stiles. He told them to sit down on the uncomfortable couch and walked to the kitchen. The betas looked at each other and decided to do as they were told, Stiles came back with three bottles of water which he handed to them and their school work that he dropped on the coffee table.
“Where did you get those?” Issac asked him, looking at his books on the table.
“Asked Scott to drop yours and drove to Erica's house to get hers.” Stiles took a long sip of his water and nodded at them to do the same.
“Why?” Erica looked at the water in her hand like it could kill her.
“Water’s not gonna kill you. It's good for you. And to answer your question because even with all this supernatural shit that is our life now, we still have school and I'm not gonna sit around and watch you fail classes. We're all gonna graduate together and fill out college application forms together and we can't do that unless you stop pacing and start studying.”
Issac groaned. “I don't wanna study.”
“Who does? But it's one of those things you're required to do.” Stiles handed them each a book and also a notebook. “Here. I've brought my notes and some of Lydia's for you to use. Lydia's chemistry and math notes are highly recommend. Now get to work.”
“Where's your work?” Erica asked, flipping through a notebook that was probably Stiles if the doodlings and jammed sentences written in the margins was anything to go by.
Stiles picked up an old leather bound book and showed it to her. “This is my work. One of the best books on werewolves according to Peter.”
“Hmm read anything good so far?” Erica noticed Stiles was almost halfway through the book.
“Well it's not my first book on werewolves but yeah there's some interesting stuff in here.”
“Like what?” Issac asked this time. He wasn't a born wolf. He didn't know much about this life. What he knew was the essential things Derek taught them and Issac loved Derek but he wasn't the best teacher. Stiles on the other hand, Issac was sure, could teach him so many things.
Stiles sighed and looked up at him. “If I tell you, would you promise to start your work and let me get back to mine?”
“Yes.” Isaac and Erica said together. Stiles nodded and flipped through the pages of the book in his hand until he found what he was looking for. “Aha. Here. Scent marking and pack bonds. Do you have any idea what that means?”
Issac scratched his chin. “Isn't it like something animals do? like pissing around to mark their territory.”
“It's… yeah um something like that. You can leave your scent on your belongings to keep other people away from it but the main use of scent marking in werewolves is when you use touch to leave your scent on someone, usually a member of your pack. That way other people- other werewolves know that person is in a pack and under the pack protection.”
“Hmm handy.” Erica mumbled. Stiles nodded.
“It's also a way for couples to claim their mark on their partners so that other werewolves know they're taken.”
“Well that's just possessive behavior.” Issac said.
“But fun.” Erica smirked. “How do you do it?”
“Well any sort of touch can leave your scent on someone but neck and head touches last longer because of the pheromones and scent glands and all that shit.”
“But Derek said we shouldn't bare our necks to anyone.” Issac said with a frown.
“Well baring your neck to an alpha is a sign of submission and an alpha can scent mark his pack but it's also a sign of trust. When you bare your neck to someone, you are showing them that you trust them. It's not advised to do it if you do not fully trust that person, it's more of a survival instinct thing but you can do it around your mate and the other members of your pack if you want.”
“Mates like Scott and Allison?” Issac asked.
“I’m not sure if they're a good relationship model. I meant it more like Peter and Chris.”
“What about them?” Derek suddenly appeared in the room and walked to them. He stood next to Stiles and bent down to look at the book in his lap, leaving his neck bare to… Stiles?
Stiles turned his head to look at Derek, one of hands came up to massage Derek's neck. “You're tense.”
Derek hummed and looked up from the book. “You teaching them werewolf stuff?”
“Yeah I was just telling them about mates using scent marking to show their-”
“Possessiveness?” Derek raised an eyebrow.
“That's what I said.” Issac jumped in.
Stiles ran his fingers in Derek's hair, messing them up even more. Derek scowled at him but Stiles just grinned.
“You should get some rest. I'll go sit with Boyd.”
Derek opened his mouth to say something, probably to argue but Stiles just raised an eyebrow. Derek sighed and stood straight again. Stiles closed his book and looked at the two betas. “You two get to work. Call me if you need me or just come up.” He waited for them to nod their agreement before getting up and walking upstairs with Derek.
“Is Stiles our mom?” Issac asked Erica once the alpha and the human were out of sight.
“What?” Erica looked at Isaac like he was crazy.
“I mean Derek's kind of our dad, right?”
“I suppose?”
“And Stiles is his mate, so I was wondering if that makes him our mom?”
Erica gasped. “Oh my God. Batman is our mom.”
Chapter 4: Coach
Notes:
Because I love him
Chapter Text
The game was not going well. McCall was nowhere to be seen, Jackson was distracted and Lahey was running around the field aimlessly. Coach found Stilinsky on the bench and sat down next to him.
“Stilinsky, where's your boy scout bestie?”
“Don't know, coach.” Stilinsky looked around, looking as irritated as the coach himself felt.
Their opponent scored another goal. He and Stilinsky both yelled Jackson's name and this time he actually turned around to look at them, no, to look at Stilinski.
“Get on the field.” Coach clapped the boy on the back and handed him a crosse. “Get Jackson's head back in the game and tell Lahey to stop fucking around.” And he pushed the boy on the field before he even got a chance to say something.
It turned out to be the best idea he had tonight because Stilinski not only got Jackson and Lahey out of their hormonal tiny heads, but also scored goal after goal, bringing the game to a tie. But the time was almost over, only one minute left. Jackson had the ball, running at a supernatural speed but he was blocked, there was no way he could score that unless- Jackson tossed the ball to Stilinski who had only one player to ditch which he did with a perfect spin and ran straight to the goal. Coach felt like his heart was gonna jump out of his chest any moment now. Stilinski threw the ball and everyone watched with bated breath as it flew right past the goalie and was slammed into the net. The sound of the whistle marked the end of the game and everyone jumped on Stiles, crushing the boy under their weight. Jackson offered his hand to Stilinski which he gratefully took with a bright grin on his face. Jackson just shook his head and turned around but coach could see him smiling.
Coach went to brag to the other team's coach but when he came back to congratulate his team, his star player of tonight was nowhere to be seen. Coach looked at the stands, roaming his eyes over the crowd when his eyes found the red shirt with Stilinski's name on it but he didn't seem to be alone. Stilinski’s arms were wrapped around someone's neck and he was kissing them with all he had. Wait, he knew that leather jacket and grumpy face. That was Derek Hale. Stilinski was snogging Derek Hale. In public. Hmm, coach had suspected that Stilinski might be playing for the other team and it felt good to be proved right.
He went to call Stilinski but stopped when he saw him put his hands on Hale’s cheeks and pressing their lips together one more time before turning around and walking to him.
“Oh hey coach, what did you think? Was I good?” Stilinski sounded breathless but coach thought it had more to do with his snogging session that with the short walk from the stands to him.
“You did great, Stilinski. So much better than I expected. You definitely got yourself a straight ticket to the next game's first line.”
“You mean that?” Stilinski looked at him with shining eyes. Coach felt a real smile forming on his lips when he nodded and clapped the boy on the shoulder. “You handled everyone so well and that last goal? Gorgeous.”
Coach wasn't one to compliment his team so freely. He had found that goading and taunting worked better with these guys but looking at the blinding grin Stilinski had on his face right now, made it impossible to not say how he actually felt about the kid's game tonight.
“Thanks, coach.” was all that Stilinski managed to say before Lahey crashed into him and hugged him tightly. Stilinski just laughed and brought his hand up to mess up Lahey's curls more. “You did great tonight,Isaac.”
“Thanks, mom.” Lahey smiled at Stilinski.
“Don't call him that.” Hale suddenly appeared next to them. Stilinski rolled his eyes at him and gave Lahey a fond smile. “Don't listen to him. He's just jealous.”
Hale growled. Lahey's eyes widened before taking a step back and getting out of Stilinski’s space who just sighed and turned to Hale, his hands on his hips. “Who's being possessive, now?”
Coach didn't hear Hale say anything but he must have because Stilinski just shook his head at him before wrapping his arms around Hale's neck again and bringing him down for a kiss. Again. Coach turned around and walked to the lockers. They were a weird bunch, Stilinski’s gang but he and Derek looked good together. They looked… happy. He just hoped the sheriff knew.
Chapter 5: Scott
Chapter Text
If you asked… well anyone, they'd tell you that Scott McCall, to put it nicely, wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed when it came to well anything. The guy couldn't take a hint or be observant to save his life which was why it didn't surprise anyone that he still hadn't picked up on Stiles and Derek's relationship.
In Scott's eyes, Stiles was the person that didn't take Derek's shit and gave him hell but for some reason Derek still kept him around. Like all the time. Scott loved Stiles. He was his best friend but without any supernatural powers, Scott really didn't get why Derek wanted Stiles in his pack because yes, Scott knew Stiles was in Derek's pack now which had hurt him because Stiles was his best friend and he should be in his pack. Why did an alpha werewolf want a human in his pack anyway? He should ask Stiles about it when he gets to Derek's loft.
Scott still hadn't agreed to be in Derek's pack but he was still invited to the pack meetings which was… nice. He still didn't trust Derek to be a good alpha for him but everyone else seemed to trust him now for some reason.
Scott slid the loft door open and walked in. For a moment he thought he's in the wrong place but the whole pack was already there, talking loudly and laughing. Derek walked to Scott and nodded his head at him. “Scott.”
“Derek, what's all this?” Scott looked around the room again, which was nothing like the last time he had seen it. The uncomfortable couch was nowhere to be seen and there were two soft looking couches, a few mismatched armchairs and a new coffee table in its place with a tv set on the other side. The big table in the centre of the room was replaced with a big dining table that was currently working as a buffet table.
“Oh that? Stiles and Peter did some redecorating.” Derek rolled his eyes but he didn't smell angry. He actually smelled like… Stiles?
Stiles called Derek from the kitchen before Scott could ask him why he smelled like his best friend. Scott shook his head and joined Isaac, who had moved back in with Derek, on the couch where he was holding a whole plate of chocolate chip cookies.
“Are those Stiles's cookies?” Scott asked Isaac who flashed his eyes at him before turning around in his seat to keep the plate out of Scott’s reach completely.
“Isaac? I want some.” Scott pouted and gave the other boy his puppy eyes. Isaac looked in Scott's eyes and stuffed a whole cookie in his mouth before walking away from him, taking the cookies with him.
“Don't touch his cookies if you want to live. Stiles is making a fresh batch.” Lydia looked up from where she was flipping through some old books on the coffee table.
“He is?” Scott turned around and sniffed.
“Yup. He's been baking all morning. These animals devour everything as soon as he puts it on the table.” Lydia said and showed a paragraph to Danny.
Scott couldn't even take offence because he too would kill for Stiles's cookies. He started walking towards the kitchen to get his hands on some of the cookies before the others got to them.
He walked in to see Stiles sitting on the countertop with Derek between his legs, they were wrapped around each other, Stiles's head on Derek's shoulder and his face mushed in Derek's neck, could he even breathe like that? His hands were moving up and down Derek's back as Derek had his arms wrapped around Stiles's waist in a tight hold. Scott frowned at them. When did they become so close that Stiles now let Derek hug him. And so tightly too. They were friends for years. They were brothers and Stiles had never hugged him like that. What was happening?
The sound of the oven timer got Stiles's head out of Derek's neck. Stiles nuzzled Derek's cheek before pushing him back so he could get to the oven. When Derek didn't move, Stiles just laughed and hit his shoulder playfully. “Let me go, clingy wolf.”
Derek reluctantly let him go of Stiles and took a slow step back. Stiles jumped down the countertop and ran to the oven, pulling the cookies out. It was only when Scott stood right next to Stiles and growled that he seemed to take notice of his presence. “Oh hey Scottie.”
“These smell amazing.” was all Scott said by way of greeting.
“Want one?” Stiles offered him a cookie that Scott took a big bite of. “Amazing.” Scott said with his mouth full.
“Werewolves.” Stiles shook his head and sighed.
The meeting was over but Stiles and Lydia decided they wanted a movie night and since tomorrow wasn't a school day, everyone else agreed to the idea. Peter ordered takeout and they were now watching Notebook, again, because no one could stand against Lydia. Derek and Stiles went to get their food but when they came back, Chris, who had joined them right then had taken Stiles's seat on the couch next to Peter.
“Oh sorry, was this your seat?” Chris asked, moving to get up but Peter stopped him.
“No no, it's fine. I have a seat.” Stiles grabbed their food, walked to Derek's armchair and dropped himself on Derek's lap. Peter snickered at Derek's surprised huff and winked at Chris who just shook his head.
“Um Stiles?” Scott looked at his friend in Derek's lap. That must be so uncomfortable.
“Yeah Scottie?” Stiles said, not taking his eyes off the tv.
“That looks uncomfortable. Do you want me to bring you a chair?”
The whole pack groaned. Jackson and Erica even facepalmed.
“Are you kidding me?”
“Oh my god.”
“How thick are you, McCall?”
“Are you serious?”
“What the fuck, Scott?”
Stiles just shook his head and pursed his lips together like he was trying to hold back laughter. “No Scott, I'm alright.”
“Oh okay.” Scott sat back and took a bite of his food.
Derek looked at Stiles and they both burst into laughter. Soon, the whole pack joined them. Scott just looked at them like they've lost their minds and decided that he didn't care.
Chapter Text
Nightmares were something both the Stilinski's men shared. Nightmares of all the people they couldn't save, of all the monsters they faced, all the lives they had to take, of Claudia, of what happened to them after her and their latest addition, the fox demon that possessed Stiles. Even now that Stiles had banished the Nogitsune and they had trapped him, the Stilinskis couldn't take a break. The nightmares followed them almost every night.
The sound of horrified screaming and one of the Stilinski men rushing to the other room to comfort their family wasn't an unusual occurrence in their house.
That night wasn't any different. It was late when Noah heard the screams, he didn't stop to see the hour before he rushed out of his room, running down the hall to Stiles's bedroom. The door was closed, after Nogitsune and the whole “when is a door not a door” riddle, Stiles couldn't fall asleep with the door open.
Noah slowly opened the door, not wanting to scare Stiles more but the scene in front of him, stopped him in his tracks. Derek was there. In his hurry to get to Stiles, Noah had forgotten that he was staying the night but there he was, sitting on the bed, holding Stiles tightly against his chest, murmuring sweet nothings in his ears and shushing him. Slowly Stiles's screams stopped and when he came to himself and saw Derek, he started quietly sobbing. Derek just held him, rocking their bodies and soothing him. Stiles turned his body to Derek and hid himself in his chest, who in turn hid his face in Stiles's hair. One of his hands massaging Stiles's shoulders and the other running down his face and neck.
Once Stiles started breathing normally again, Derek laid them back, still holding Stiles to his chest, rubbing his back and shoulders but his other hand was now running in Stiles's hair, smoothing his hair and messing it up again. Stiles's body went lax and he started snoring softly.
“He's alright, Sheriff. You can go back to bed.” Derek whispered into the dark room, his eyes shining with a thin red circle in them.
“Thank you.” Noah whispered back.
“You don't need to thank me for protecting my pack.” Derek kept still when he felt Stiles move in his sleep.
“Your mate.” Noah smirked at him.
“What?” Derek's tone was nervous, was he scared of how Noah would react to this? Pleaseeee, Noah knew about them before they could figure it out themselves. And okay maybe he had his doubts about Derek, not sure if he was good for Stiles but his son was happy with him and Derek proved himself to Noah by both protecting Stiles and putting him first and coming to get Noah's blessing before he asked Stiles out and yeah the mates thing was new but Noah had expected it.
“You're mates, aren't you?” Noah continued without giving Derek a chance to say anything. “Here's two important things; first, you will wait until he's legal to bond. And second, he would like a spring wedding. You got it?”
“Yes?” Noah couldn't see Derek's face clearly but he was sure he looked like a confused puppy. Adorable.
“Good. Take care of him, Derek. And welcome to the family. I leave the life threats for another time.” And with that, he walked out of Stiles's room, closing the door slowly behind him. His son and Derek Hale were mates. Noah wasn't sure if they were gonna get in more trouble together or less but he was sure that whatever life threw at them, they would find a way out of it together. Noah fell asleep with a smile on his face.
