Chapter Text
‘’ How do you know so much about these? They looked at the deathwalker with curious, peering eyes. The darkness of the water had ruined the shining sun and clear clouds, yet it still brought them solstice—better than their current situation.
‘’ The river once held a florist… and touching the water shared his knowledge with me ‘’ the deathwalker said quietly. He didn’t know why, but he felt guilty. He remembered the look on his face when he let go, the look of realization that this was his end.
‘’ Do you know about these? ‘’ They picked up a flower, gesturing it towards the deathwalker.
‘’ That’s a crocus… a purple one at that. If I remember correctly, those can symbolize hope and new beginnings. ‘’ He finished, locking eyes with his friend.
‘’ No wonder they’re Elliot's favorite, huh... ‘’ Sunshine broke eye contact with Brachium, looking back down at the flower. Was there a reason these appeared in their dream? Were they hoping things would be okay? That Elliott was okay? They hoped so.
‘’ Little one… why did you call me here? ‘’ He didn’t mind being here—he’d much rather stay—but couldn’t. It took energy, a lot of it. The river was unkind. The sky was once filled with shades of blue and white, but now it was different shades of gray, at least to him it is.
His friend, however, could see the colors perfectly. They shone so brightly in their eyes.
‘’ I don’t know… it just happened. ‘’ To pull someone into their dream, you have to think about them. That's what he said, right? Something along the lines of it…
‘’ I cannot stay long but I can stay with you for the moment.. ‘’ He couldn’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if he’d never helped them. He’d caused them a pain greater than he had ever wished to inflict.
‘’ Brachium. ‘’
‘’ Yes, little one? ‘’
‘’ Thank you. ‘’ They placed a flower in his hair, which surprised him. However, he expected nothing less from them. Even if it wasn’t his intention to cause them pain, they get to continue living.
They got to meet and enjoy this fragil thing we called life. So perhaps it was worth it.
