Summary:

Tosh and Ianto debate the personification of objects

Written for Auctober Day 12: Differently Wired

Work Text:

"Tosh!!" Ianto's shout reverberated off the cavernous walls of the Hub.

"What!?" Tosh responded at a similar volume, pulling on her coat as Ianto rushed over.

"Why is the Hoix file still on your desk?" he demanded, upset.

"I'm still using it." she tried to placate him. Honestly she didn't really know why he was so torn up about a file.

"The files need to go home when we leave for the night." he crossed his arms matter-of-factly as he said it.

"Go...home?"

"Yeah. They live in the file room. They need to go home. We get to go home at night, so should they."

Tosh stared at him. He can't be serious, right?

"They're files."

"They get confused and upset when they're left on desks alone all night." he scooped the file from Tosh's desk and held it close to him. Like he was trying to comfort it. This was ridiculous.

"They're files, Ianto." she emphasised the word, trying to get her point across. Ianto huffed indignantly.

"I know that! Just. Just give me the file, I'll have it back on your desk tomorrow. You won't even know it was gone." he got a pleading look in his eyes and Tosh couldn't continue the argument.

"Alright."

"Thank you."

And with that, he was scurrying off back to the file room.

Tosh shook her head fondly.
