Chapter Text

Chapter 1: Prologue.

It has been months since the events of the tournament of power.

And Son Goku had been looking for a sparing partner that can match him blow for blow at his strongest.

Unfortunately, goku hasn't had much luck.

The awesome power of ultra instinct is left almost completely unmatched against the strength of fellow mortals.

The strongest saiyan aside from goku is vegeta, and even in his unleased super saiyan blue form- which was no stronger then super saiyan blue kaioken times 20- he couldn't hold a candle to even ultra instinct omen.

His son wasn't worth thinking about. Gohan neglected his training in favour of becoming a scholar. His power level had dropped and he only gotten more rusty ever since.

And frieza had gone off to God knows where.

No new alien threats had come to cause trouble for Earth.

And Goku was still in need of further training and augmentation if he ever hopes to surpass The Hakaishin, Beerus.

Quite frankly, it was an uneventful period for Goku and the people of Earth.

Logically, you would think that peace and quiet is what a normal person would want? But goku was not a normal person.

He was a saiyan. An race of alien warriors from the planer vegeta that craved fighting and getting stronger. It was in their lifeblood. It was in their very nature to push themselves to their limits and seek out formidable opponents.

So Goku enlisted the help of two of the most powerful beings in universe seven to hopefully solve the problem.

With Beerus and Whis help, goku traveled across the twelve universe in search of a good fight. But to no avail.

Afterall, if another powerful opponent existed in Goku's multiverse then Jiren would've had someone to match fists with.

Sadness befell Goku then. Slowly starting to believe he'll have nobody to test his might against. 

Suddenly, whis came up with a solution.

"Why not we collect the super dragon balls and wish for a worthy opponent?"

Upon that proclamation, Goku bobbed his head in wonder, "Why didn't i think of that?"

The reason why the dragon balls weren't used is because they were powered by the namekians who goku long surpassed a long time ago. Anyone who is stronger then porunga or shenron who were created by them, could resist their awesome power. So using the dragon balls to try to kill someone like frieza will not work. So, an challenger comparable to goku would be capable of denying its effects.

While The Super Dragon Balls were created by the Dragon deity Zarama who is way up their with the grand priest who is the second strongest in the multiverse. The fact that Zeno himself stated that the super dragon balls could do anything is an added plus. Not to mention, they even brought back all the worlds destroyed during the tournament of power.

And thus the journey for the super dragon balls began. Quite frankly, the super dragon balls are huge and difficult to find. It would have been more difficult if goku went to pursue them on his own but whis can travel across universes and can detect their presence, and some of the destroyers in the opposing universes owed beerus a favour or two. So the task took merely a week at most to complete.

"Thanks for the help, guys. I couldn't have done it without you." Goku said happily to the two.

"Don't mention it, goku-san." Said whis with kindness.

"Just remember to introduce me to that new pastry eatery you were talking about as compensation for my services." Beerus said with his arms crossed behind his back.

"Yes!" Goku agreed. Remembering his oral agreement with bills.

He couldn't wait for his wish to be granted.

The Super Dragon Balls were all gathered in a rocky and mountainous region that bears a striking resemblance to copper canyon. Goku was worried that innocents could be harmed when the fighting commences but whis assured him that their was no sapient life for miles. And if it came to it, whis will send goku and the new challenger to a pocket dimension to go all out unbiden.

Beerus and whis adviced goku on the procedure to using the super dragon balls. The angels knew the secret language of the dragons (which is literally speaking backwards). Goku will say his wish and whis will translate for him.

Understanding that, the three didn't waste anymore time and began the ritual. It wasn't long before the golden orbs started glowing and swirling with speed before the golden dragon, Super Shenron, manifested itself before them. It was magnificent. Eclipsing the stars, galaxies and having the power to remake universes. Goku wouldn't be surprised if Super shenron was as poweful as The Attendants or The Omni-King.

Super shenron spoke in another language. Wanting to know of its summoners wish. Whis told Goku to tell him his wish so he can translate. Goku told him:

"I wish to fight a worthy opponent!"

Whis invocated Goku's words in the language of the dragon.

"Your wish has been granted."

A bright flash of light illuminated the vicinity before super shenron disappeared.

Goku couldn't wait to see the end results of his wish.

Emerald beach.

Its been months since sonic and his friends unwitting adventures at the starfalls islands and the final battle against The End.

Its been uneventful and quiet since then, but still...

Considering the latest stunt of Sonic's arch nemesis Dr.Eggman, it was a bit strange and worrisome of his lack of activity or appearances. Sonic wondered if eggman decided to take a break. But considering his luck, its possible robotnik is cooking something up again (Does he ever take breaks?). When will robuttnik get it through his thick skull to stop harnessing mysterious powers of ancient deities he can't even begin to understand? Perhaps never. 

Regardless, Sonic decided that he needed a well-deserved break from all the fighting.

So The Sonic Heroes went to vacation on Emerald Beach. 

Sonic invited the whole gang over but only tails, knuckles, amy and cream could come.

Shadow, rouge and omega were on some top-secret mission for G.U.N.

Team Chaotix were off to similar business.

And Rookie was AWOL.

Knuckles was a bit difficult to influence. Mostly because of the master emerald. Sonic still insisted on the grounds of eggman being busy and knuckles should unwind for once. The echidna finally relented and allowed himself to be carried along the ocean currents.

While Amy and Cream played Beach ball, Sonic and Tails were on mats soaking up the rays of the morning sun.

"Ah, isn't this the life, tails? Just unwinding. Taking it slow from time to time and enjoying yourself." Sonic said with joy. Enjoying the little things in life and being happy for the simplicity of mother nature.

"I don't know about that, sonic. Shouldn't we be more worried about what eggman is up to?" Tails said with a frown. His friend had been stressed about eggmans possible, secret, nefarious schemes. Considering what happened the last time, his worries weren't unwarranted. But...

"Tails, you gotta learn to chill out and go with the flow if you get what I'm saying. And quit being a worrywart. We'll cross that bridge when we get there." Said sonic with confidence. Going along with things was his style. If he stressed over what he didn't have any control over then he'll never be able to relax and find contentment in life.

"Yeah. Whatever you say, Sonic?" Said tails. Deciding that Sonic was right and he should chill while he can. Still, he couldn't shake that feeling that something was off...

Suddenly, the hedgehog's body started flashing like a light bulb. Tails was the first to notice, however.

"Sonic! Your glowing!" Suddenly exclaimed tails who quickly got up, looking at sonic with bewilderment.

"Tails, what are you talking about...?" Sonic said confusedly before looking at himself and realized that his body was glowing a strange bluish hue. Sonic quickly got up, getting a better look at himself.

"Is this the work of cyber energy?" Said tails who proceeded to bring his scanning device out of his make-shift pockets when he was interrupted by the worried hollering of the rest of his friends.

"Sonic. What's going on with sonic!" Screamed Amy as she raced along with Cream and knuckles.

"Heck if i know what's up with...this? Tails, what is going on? Said Sonic who was slowly getting worried as he felt nauseous all of a sudden.

"I'm not sure. My readings indicate that its neither chaos energy or Cyber energy. Its an all new energy signature i've never seen before." Said Tails who desperately tried to solve the problem with his schematics.

"It has to be eggman's doing. No one else could be held responsible." Said knuckles who was getting antsy at the fact that he can't find an easy solution to this growing issue.

"I dunno about that, knuckles. If robuttnik's plan is to...oh, I don't feel so good..."

"Sonic!" Exclaimed everybody as Sonic doubled over and vanished.

The rest of the team got caught up in commotion as a result of the sudden twist and turn of events. Arguing about what happened to the hedgehog and what became of him. Tails was also in the same slope but managed to keep his cool long enough to jury rig a possible theory.

"I still need to run test on this mysterious energy signature but my data  suggest that inter-dimensional travel is involved." Tails said with controlled grimness.

"Inter-dimensional travel? Then it's gotta be eggman! I'm gonna find him and give him a knuckle sandwich." Knuckles said angrily. He was about to storm off when Amy blocked his way.

"What are you doing?"

"We don't know if eggman had anything to do with this. I suggest we wait till shadow comes back."

"Why can't we just look for eggman and ask him?" Said Cream. Knowing that if the doctor had any say in the matter then he'd reveal it with glee.

"We will have to come prepared. I know a great deal of eggman's hideouts that are booby trapped. We should come up with a plan before..."

Tails wasn't able to finish before knuckles angrily ran off. Shortly afterwards, the gang was left trailing behind knuckles. Off to another adventure again.

It wasn't long before an anthromorphic blue hedgehog manifested himself before the three in place of the super dragon balls that began swirling in circles, then blasting off across the twelve universes again.

"Where am i?" Sonic said as he looked back and back to ascertain where he was. Instead, what first caught his attention were the three people standing before him.

The first was a spiky haired man in a karate gi.

The second was a humanoid purple cat dressed like an ancient egyptian.

The third was a blue skinned man with hair that outdoes even willa wonka.

The spiky guy was the first to speak, "Is he the Challenger I've been looking for?" Looking at Sonic up and down inquisitively.

"Yes. This lad is the one that was summoned by the super dragon balls without question. Quite interesting enough is that he seems to not be around here. His aura is strange."

The cat's eyes widened, "Outside of the twelve universes? How is it possible?"

Sonic was getting a bit peeved that they talked about him without acknowledging him, "Ahem. You know its totally uncool to be talking about someone in front of them without at least explaining whats going on." He said with his hands on his hips.

The spiked hair guy laughed a bit. Scratching the back of his sorry, "Oh sorry. How can i forget..." 

"My name is Son Goku. Nice to meet you."

The cat crossed his arms with an arrogance, "I am Beerus. The immortal of destruction of universe seven. And you better treat me with respect."

The blue skinned man tapped his scepter into the ground, chuckled a bit at beerus introduction before saying, "I'm Whis. The Priest attendant of the destroyer of the Seventh universe. Nice to meet you."

Hearing this introduction, Sonic replied in kind, "Well, you can call me Sonic the hedgehog. The fastest thing alive."

"And I'd like to know where i am."

Chapter Text

Last time on Dragon Ball Z.... I meant...

Last time on Sonic the hedgehog vs Son Goku:

Goku is in need of a fight against an opponent on his level, but nobody, aside from Jiren, in the twelve universes, reached his standards.

So Goku commisions the help of The Destroyer, Beerus and his Chaperone, Whis...

"Hey!"

With their help, the super dragon balls were collected and Goku's wish granted.

Now a mobian blue hedgehog had been summoned and introductions are underway...before the fight!

The wind blew brazenly across the landscape as a blue hedgehog faced The saiyan, destroyer and angel.

"So why am i here?" Sonic questioned. Wanting to get to the bottom of this. Quite frankly, this is not the first time that he was unexpectedly sent somewhere, but he was at hoping for an early warning system at least.

"Oh, my apologies, Sonic-san..."

"Sonic-san?" Sonic said with confusion with the tag on.

"San is a variation for respect and closeness, Sonic-san." Whis explained simply.

"I don't know about closeness since this is the first time i met you people. But alright." Sonic said. Letting the issue be.

"But anyways, Sonic-san, Son Goku had recently participated in a tournament encompassing the twelve universes. He recently mastered the ancient power of the deities, Ultra instinct. Which allowed Goku-san to defeat the champion of universe 11, Jiren. As Jiren was a rare case, there had been no other opponent for Goku for break his limits with." Whis explained but Beerus stepped in the finish...

"In exchange for a favour, we agreed to help him obtain the super dragon balls that have the power to grant any wish. Which is why you're here." Finished Beerus effortlessly.

Sonic digested the information accordingly. From what he's been hearing, they have twelve universes in their multiverse- one fact that Sonic thought was odd- and these super dragon balls sound like the chaos emeralds. Sonic feels that there was a pattern to it all but it wasn't important at this time.

"Ok, i see exactly where you're coming from. But wouldn't it hurt to at least gave some kind of warning or message before doing that? My friends at home must be worried sick for my well-being, and i wouldn't want them to get hurt or panicked over something like this."

Goku rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

"Sorry. I didn't actually think about that when i went out of my way to do this." Said an embarrassed Goku who decided it was time to change the subject.

"Well...we can always get the dragon balls- the normal ones- to send you back anytime you want."

Sonic didn't know the difference between the dragon balls and the super dragon balls. He assumed that it was like the chaos emeralds and the master emerald. But regardless, Sonic wasn't that worried. This is not the first time that Sonic got sent to another world and got lost. He has the chaos emeralds with him and even if that wasn't the case, he will just have to run endlessly until he found the way home like back in the Arabian nights.

Sonic waved away Goku's concerns, "Don't sweat it. This is not my first rodeo if you get want i mean. And besides, perhaps I'll need the exercise since my archenemy had been AWOL for months now."

Goku's eyes widened, "Archenemy?"

"Yeah, he calls himself Doctor.Eggman. He's basically an evil genius who tried to defeat me and my friends and take over the world with robots. He's as smart as my good friend and I'm always butting heads with him from time to time. Heck, he created this robot copy of me that can replicate my and friends skills. If i didn't know any better, I'd think this would be one of his new nefarious schemes. Sending me into a new dimension so he can take over our world without my interference." Sonic explained.

"Wow. He sounds just like Dr.Gero. When he was alive, he created Androids to destroy me and my friends to take over the world. When that failed, he created a bio-android called Cell, who had all of the powers and abilities of my friends and enemies. Even after he was gone for good, we found out he created another Android similar to Cell called Android 21. But unlike Cell, he was a good person but with an evil side. She...we couldn't..."

Goku stopped talking when he remembered what happened. Whis patted his back to calm him down.

"No need to fret, Goku-san. She's in a better place."

Sonic would've commented on the similarities between their worlds but seeing Goku like this made Sonic a little sympathetic.

"I dunno who she is but if she was a good person then she'll find peace. Wherever she is." Sonic nodded off.

Goku shaked his head, "Ah, its all in the past now. What matters is the present."

Goku's eyes have gotten sharper now. His energy aura flared up as he looked ahead of Sonic.

"Aren't you going to power up?"

Sonic shaked his head, "That's not how i fight."

Goku was confused, "What do you mean? Don't you use Ki/Chi in your universe?"

"I don't know what that is but my power comes from my speed and chaos energy."

"Chaos energy? Is it like divine ki?" Goku stated questionably. Sensing the weird energy exuding from Sonic now. It wasn't like Ki but had a slight familiarity with divine Ki, even if its a very distinct similarity."

"Again, I don't know what that is. I'd say you'd just have to wait and see."

Sonic got into a fighting stance.

"But I'm not doing this without a favour in return."

"Oh yeah? What's that?" Goku asked. Also getting in a fighting stance.

"Buy me a chilli dog after the fight, and you got it."

Goku grinned with a fighting spirit, "Awesome!"

But before the fight could commence, Beerus teleported to the front of them.

"Wait."

"Aww...what now?" Goku said agitatedly. Already eager to fight the Hedgehog of strange origin.

"If Sonic is truly on your level, then their is a very high possibility of putting universe six and universe seven at risk, just like my fight with Champa." Beerus said the last name with disgust.

Hearing the gravity of the situation, Goku and Sonic had gotten serious.

"So how do we solve the problem?" Goku asked.

Beerus turned to Whis, "Whis, you said you could send the two of them elsewhere where the universes won't be at risk."

Whis nodded, "Indeed, Beerus. With my power, it would be an easy feat for me to create a replica of universe 7. A pocket dimension if you will. With an indestructible planet where the two can unleash their full power."

Whis tapped the ground twice with his staff, then a portal opened up to his right.

"I had this set up beforehand in preparation of this moment."

"Your the best, Whis." Goku said with happiness.

"Anytime, Goku. Anytime." Politely responded Whis.

The four walked in the portal, not wasting anymore time.

It was a near- perfect replica of the mountainous valley, except the mountains and rocky ground were grey instead of brown and the sun was out when the original was dark.

"Cool." Sonic said with wide eyes, "It's basically a near- perfect replica in every shape and form."

"I know, right. Whis is like that." Responded Goku.

"Now if you two are done talking, lets get this fight started." Beerus said. Wishing to play as a spectator with Whis, just like they did in Frieza's invasion.

"Agreed." Goku nodded, powering up before turning to Sonic, "Are you ready?"

Sonic smirked as electricity danced from his quills, "Are you kidding? I was born ready!"

Beerus and Whis flew up to a safe distance before the fight commenced. Whis announced to the two before they charged at each other:

"On the count of three. One. Two. Three. Go!"

Goku and Sonic charged each other with speed before the first exchange of fists shaked the horizons of the mountainous valleys.

Sonic the hedgehog vs Son Goku! 

Chapter 3: Round 1!

Mountainous valley.

Crash!

The first exchange of punches shock the vicinity with caked up dirt. 

Sonic and Goku recoiled from the strike, pushing the both of them back as a result. They recovered soon after and Sonic started the first move.

Sonic rolled into a spindash and blasted towards Goku who blocked accordingly before kicking Sonic high in the air, then using instant transmission to teleport above him and smash him down with a double-axe handle.

Sonic turned the fall into a backflip. Standing upright, Sonic looked upwards at the levitating Goku who revealed a toothy grin before charging energy and shooting several ki blasts in Sonic's direction.

Sonic turned in the opposite direction ans started running at super speed. Evading at dodging the energy spheres accordingly.

"Catch me if you can!" Sonic mocked as he raced across the horizon.

"Man, he's fast." Remarked Goku as he put two fingers to his forehead, triggering instant transmission. He appeared in front of Sonic and tried to disrupt him with a side kick but Sonic jumped over it and blasted Goku with a, "Sonic boom!" Blasting him with several projectiles horizontally.

Goku blocked the projectiles but couldn't retaliate as Sonic unleashed several homing attacks that pushed Goku back before slamming him into the ground with a Sonic eagle. Finishing with a Sonic blast.

Seemingly stunned and on the ground, Sonic grinned and raced towards Goku's position with a clothesline.

Suddenly Goku did a finger gesture towards his eyes, "Solar flare!"

"Ah!"

Blinded, Goku disappeared and appeared behind Sonic and strikes him with a rapid assault of hooks and jabs empowered by ki. Sonic gags and fails to counter as Goku finishes by striking the hedgehog in the pressure points, paralyzing him in place.

Goku blasted backwards with a speed burst, then rushed forward, in the air at twice the speed and struck with a, "Shockwave fist!", generating an explosion and sending Sonic unto the surface of a mountain.

Before Sonic could get up, Goku powered up with one of his strengthening techiques.

"KAIOKEN!!!"

He cupped both of his hands with energy before shouting, "KAMEHAMEHA!!!" Blasting Sonic with an red energy blast, destroying the mountain and blasting Sonic out of sight.

"Well, that was quick." Beerus said casually.

"Is he dead?" He asked to nobody in particular.

"No," Whis replied to the rhetorical question. "His ki signature is still active. No wait... something's up..."

Goku flew in the direction where Sonic was sent. Detecting his ki, he would soon after sense his presence not far from him. 

He turned around and saw the blur blur getting back up with minor injuries and a face masked with confidence.

"Haha... Is that all you got?"

Goku frowned, detecting Sonic's unlatened energy, "Your still holding back. I can sense it. You can't hope to defeat me if you won't take this seriously."

With a laid-back pose (arms to the back of his head) and easy-going expression he says, "Taking things seriously all the time will just take the fun out of it. I can simply outpace you with my speed."

"Oh yeah? Then show me...!"

All of a sudden, Goku felt something strong hit him in his stomach, causing him to gag. He saw the blue blur to his side, much to his shock.

'What? How'd he get ahead of me? I didn't even see him move. So how...'

With a toothy grin, Sonic says, "You don't get to just see...all i have."

Beerus eyes widened somewhat upon that trick, "This rodent is just full of surprises and is quite fast. I wonder if he's as fast as Dypso."

Whis was also surprised but hid it behind a chuckle, "We'll just have to see for ourselves then."

Goku was pushed back from the strike for miles on end, his speed was unwittingly accelerated by force as several homing attacks propelled him further before Sonic accelerated with such speed as to break the sound barrier.

Sonic was already moving soo fast as to pass the mountainous valley and through a desert landscape, a tropical rainforest, East city and Kami's lookout.

'Perhaps after this fight, i could take a little sight seeing afterword.' Mused Sonic in his head before responding to the battle at hand.

He already moved halfway across the world before he reached a propelled Goku's location who wasn't even moving at that speed. Sonic struck him again before he raced across the planet again. Increasing in acceleration, Sonic ran laps on the planet while nailing Goku with several vicious pummels.

After the 24th lap, he got in close quarters with the Saiyan again, before shouting, "Phantom rush!" Then Sonic and several afterimages layed a barrage of high speed punches and kicks before stomping down on Goku's head, sending him to the ground before finishing with a 'Sonic wind'. Causing an explosion, cratering the ground and forming caked up dust as a result.

When Sonic descended back on the ground, he looked at the crater that had been created and the Saiyan down on it. 

Sonic frowned, thinking that the fight was done.

"Oh well. Gave my hopes up too soon."

Sonic turned around in disappointment, believing the matchup was over. Well, he was only human afterall...

Boom!

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Shouted Goku. Shaking the ground with his power and undergoing his first phase. Signaling the battle was far from over.

"Ah! What the heck!" Shouted Sonic as he turned towards the crater once more. The ground was shaken as Goku slowly ascended from the ground with Golden hair.

"What? How can you obtain a super form without the chaos emeralds? And how are you still up and running? No human should be up and about after that pounding."

With power coursing through his veins and a smug look, Goku says, "No. I'm a Super Saiyan!"

At first Sonic looked surprised, but the the smugness returned, "All right then, two can play it at that game."

Electricity sparkled from Sonic's body as a shockwave erupted from him. Shaking the valley with an extremity akin to a super saiyan. 

Baffled, Goku looks on in curiosity at what the blue blur will show him.

When the lightning dispersed, Sonic came out of it with electricity dancing on his quills.

With seriousness, Sonic says, "Are you ready for this?"

Goku grinned, "Ready as I'll ever be."

With nonchalance, he says, "All right. Then lets hit the pedal to the metal!"

With that, both Sonic and Super Saiyan Goku charged forward with a fist leveled, ready to strike again.
