Chapter Text
Keith put his red solo cup down on Shiro’s counter and walked over to get the door, he had come early to help set up for the paladins halloween party that his brother insisted on having and was letting all the people in.
As soon as he opened the door Pidge and Matt Holt's smiling faces met in him and they stepped into Shiro’s flat and Pidge opened her arms for a hug, which Keith stepped into gladly, and bounced over to the couch. “Happy Halloween! How goes the party prep?” Pidge was dressed in a Green Lantern outfit, matching the DC theme that the paladins agreed upon a week ago over brunch with crapes.
Matt tapped Keith’s shoulder to get his attention and pointed over to the counter. “Are we allowed to get drinks before everyone else arrives? By the way, where’s Shiro? He’s hosting this.”
“Ugh, he ran off to his room ten minutes ago to get on his batman costume, at least my superman costume just zipped right on while still looking good, Shiro’s costume isn't even that good looking, how could it take so much longer than mine! I look good right Pidge?” Keith complained, looking up when the doorbell rang again.
Matt reached over and opened the door, letting Lance in, and, wow, Lance looked really nice. “Hi,” Keith breathed, stepping closer to Lance unconsciously. “Your wonder woman outfit looks really cool.” Lance smiled at that, and for some reason was bright red and wouldn’t look directly at Keith, but whatever.
“Thank you, I like your outfit a lot.” Lance stuttered out, and Keith felt just a little bit less stupid, and inched closer to his friend.
“I tried my best,” he admitted. “Its still not quite what I had hoped but-”
Lance cut him off before he could continue that sentence. “You look stunning! Are you kidding me?? Not what you had hoped?? Keith I think you may need your eyes checked because, wow, you look amazing right now. And, your accent! I’ve never heard anyone fake a country accent quite as good as yours.”
Keith smiled at Lance, confused. “Lance, I’m from Texas. It’s not so much a fake accent as it is a tapping into an accent I had previously.” Lance’s mouth formed an ‘o’ shape as he blushed and looked away.
“Sorry! I’ve never heard you with an accent before and it's really really nice.” Keith felt his face grow warm and he cleared his throat and turned his attention back to Matt. “Yeah, you can have the drinks.”
Matt fist pumped in the air and waddled happily over to the drinks. “Thank you!!”
He heard a noise coming from the hallway and turned to see Shiro had finally figured out his batman costume and was carrying a huge sack of candy.
“Hey! The man of the party!” Lance cheered and walked over to give Shiro a hug.
Allura and Coran arrived a couple minutes later and Hunk just after that, and the rest of the party was a blast, but Keith didn't feel quite right watching Lance in that costume and not having his lips on his own.
Lance slid next to Keith and bumped their shoulders together. “Are you not having fun? We can head into your room for some quiet if you want.” Keith nodded and they headed over to the room in Shiro’s house that he had been gifted a year ago, and they sat down on his bed.
“So, was everything too loud or did something else about the party bother you?” Lance asked. Keith flopped down into a laying position and lance followed and then he sighed.
“I’m pretty sure it was mostly the noise, but, I’ve also been off for another reason.” Lance leaned in close to Keith and brushed his hand against his face, he smirked and pressed his nose against Keith’s cheek.
“And do you know what that would be?” Lance muttered.
“You.” Keith stated and he leaned in and pressed his lips against Lance’s ever so gently, leaving room for Lance to pull away, but his fellow paladin did just the opposite and kissed him back and wrapped his arms around Keith.
Lance pulled away after a moment to catch his breath and grinned wildly. “I could get behind always being on your mind, it would be payback for you taking up a permanent space in mine.”
