Chapter Text

The smell of gas and greasy pizza hit Petunia Dursley nose as she stepped out of the car, she wrinkled her nose in disgust at the smell. The old gas station looked to be falling apart, there was two pumps, one of the two had an out of order note stuck to it. She was tempted to move on and see if there was another gas station further down the road but thought better of it. She really needed to refuel and couldn't risk running out of gas in the middle of nowhere before the next station. She doubts there was one down the road, she was in the middle of nowhere.

She looked back to the backseat to see her son was fast asleep, Dudley head was pressed on the window as he snored loudly, she smiled at the scene until her eyes drifted over to the other that was next to him, her smile dropped. The other boy was awake and sitting quietly with his head down while his devil of an owl was next to him in her cage glaring at her. She scowled at both before turning and made her way inside the gas station. She ignored the loud screech of the door that needed to be oiled.

" Welcome" the man behind the desk greeted, he was tall and wore worn out blue overalls, his hair was grey and long, his beard was long and braided. He looked like a typical farmer. Petunia put on a smile. " Good morning, how's business" she said sweetly. The man smiled back, " slow" he answered. ' I wonder why' Petunia thought eyes roaming the place, there wasn't much, the pizza she smelled was set on a heated pan. It smelled even worse close up. There was only two shelves and one cooler for cold drinks.

" You on vacation?" the man asks as Petunia picked out a few bags of chips and drinks for the road, there was no doubt once her son woke up, he would be hungry. He was a growing boy after all. " Yes, my husband is getting a promotion" she boasted happily, Vernon boss had invited them to Florida in America. Vernon had gone ahead two days early to meet with his boss and talk business while she would come later.

Petunia had to attend a school event that she had agreed to earlier in the year and would have looked bad on her if she went back on her word, she had to help fund a fundraiser with the other parents on the board. 

" Ah good for him" the man smiled as he rung up her items, " Twenty on pump one " Petunia added as she placed her bills on the counter. She couldn't find a babysitter for the boy, Mrs. Fig had a family emergency and couldn't watch him, and she didn't trust to leave him alone in her house. So, she was forced to bring him along. Petunia just wishes that Vernon boss lived in town. When she had gotten off the plane with the boys, she had to rent a car. Vernon boss lived on the outskirts of town.

" Have a good day" she said as she turned and exit the store bags in hand, she sighed as she set the bags in the passenger seat, " boy get the gas" she ordered ignoring the fourteen-year-old who was already out of the car. Dudley was still asleep. 

Harry sighed as he grabbed the pump, He wished that they had just left him at the house. He rubbed his eyes with his sleeve, his body felt like it would drop any minute, he had been avoiding sleep as much as possible. He had fallen asleep on the plane and woke up screaming causing a scene. Aunt Petunia hadn't been too happy with him. He pushed away the image of a dead Cedric from his mind and focused on the task at hand. He shivered as a gust of wind blew through the station.

He could feel his magic just below his skin, buzzing, since they had gotten off that plane, he had felt wrong and when they had gotten in the car it got worse. like a warning, he had been alert and twitchy, eying every person they passed in suspicion. He thought Voldemort or one of his death eaters would attack but so far nothing.

It put him on Edge.

He heard the click of the pump, he placed it back in its proper place before getting back in the car, " here" his aunt tossed a beef jerky stick and water at him. He caught it with ease. " Where are we?" he asked as the felling got worse. 

Not far, should be another twenty minutes" she said looking at the GPS with Annoyance, " now when we get there you will be on your best behavior, no funny business" she warned as he rolled his eyes. He had heard this speech one to many times since he could remember. " You mean no magic" he dared watching as his aunt whipped her head around and glared. " Do not say that word " she hissed at him.

" The only reason we took you in was because that old coot dumped you on us " She said as Harry leaned back in his seat. He scowled at Petunia who without another word started the engine and pulled out the gas station, Harry watched the trees pass, it somehow felt they were dark and looming over them. Hedwig was going stir crazy hooting and screeching as she flapped her wings. " Shut that bloody bird up " Petunia screeched angrily.

By then Dudley had woken up from his sleep, the large boy glared grumpily at harry and the owl. The feeling in his gut continued to get worse making Harry nervous, he hid his hands in his pockets, if petunia had seen them, she would have seen the small green sparks of magic coming off of them. His magic had never reacted this way and it disturbed him.

" Aunt petunia, we should turn back " Harry said wishing he had his wand, but Petunia had locked it away in his trunk before they left, and he didn't have enough time to go back and get it. It felt like he was missing a piece of himself. The only reason he was able to even bring Hedwig was because his aunt and uncle didn't want the neighbors to see her around their house. 

Hedwig screeched louder banging against the cage, " bloody bird crazy" Dudley said hitting the cage, " hey!" Harry yelled angry, " somethings wrong " Harry pulled his hands out of his pockets, the sparks growing bigger. Dudley paled seeing this and tried to make himself small against the car door. 

Petunia turned in her seat, " stop that! " She screeched eyes wide as Harry searched for a threat, He didn't see anything that stood out, if it had been death eaters or Voldemort himself his scar would have hurt by now.

This felt different.

Suddenly the car jerked to a stop causing Harry to hit his head against the window, pain exploded in his head making him groan in pain, " shit" he heard Petunia mutter as he looked up to see a tree had fallen in the middle of the road and the sun setting.

" something's wrong " Harry said getting out of the car, it was a large oak tree that blocked the road, if he had his wand, he could have easily moved it. Petunia was pale as she stepped out behind him, her pale blue eyes wary as the large black crows cawed at them. " Is it death eaters " she asked eyeing the dark woods with suspicion. " I don't know, maybe worse " Said harry unsure. " What do you mean you don't know?" Snapped petunia.

" Like I said I don't know but I think my magic is warning me, we need to turn around " Harry answered, " like now " he added seeing her not moving," you and your freaky " Petunia was cut off as the flock of crows got bigger and more aggressive. She jumped as one swooped down at her and hit the window cracking the glass and leaving a blood stain. Dudley was still in the car cowering away. " okay" Petunia took that as her cue to get back in the car. 

Harry followed right behind her as soon as he shut his door petunia was already reversing the car and speeding back down the road. " what's going on?" Dudley asked in fear as he eyed his cousin still sparking hands. He had not had any good encounters with magic, between that oath of a giant giving him a pig's tail and the twins dropping their prank {cursed candy} and his parents years of hatred towards it made him wary of it.

" it's okay sweety " Petunia tried to calm him as she pressed harder on the gas, she didn't know what threat was out there, but she wasn't about to stop until at least get to the next town. She should have known something like this would happen if she brought that boy along. Harry grabbed a piece of paper from his bag and quickly shot down a quick note to send to Dumbledore. Hedwig was still screeching, he had never seen her like this, and it scared him, in the past four years he had faced the dark lord, and she had never once reacted like this. 

Just as he was about to tie it to her leg the car once again screeched to a halt, He looked up to see they were in a small town, he could see an old-style 50s cafe not far from them and a small row of houses, there was a tall motel sign but he didn't see the motel only the pool, he frowned seeing an over turned car next to it, the town looked like it seen better days and had been abandoned. Nature looked to have taken over.

Something about the town felt wrong. His senses were still going off. 

" Hedwig get this to Dumbledore " Harry said as he stepped out of the car with her in his arms, the owl quickly flew into the air but did not leave like he wanted her to, she flew circles around them. " Hedwig?" Harry frowned in confusion. 

" If it was those death eaters' freaks, they would have appeared by now " Petunia said looking around, the hair on the back of her neck stood up and she shivered, it was dark and she had no idea where she was, her G.P.S and phone wasn't working it had gone dead. " yeah" harry agreed, he noticed movement and turned to see a red-haired man coming out from behind a house, he wore a green sweater, next to him was a woman with dark hair and librarian glasses.

Harry heard Dudley open his door, " maybe they can give us directions?" said Dudley watching the strangers, Petunia spotted a woman dressed in a nurse outfit and a man dressed in a mail services uniform coming out of the cafe. Down the road was a dark-haired woman in a wedding dress and a man dressed as a cowboy that were making there way towards them. Harry warily watched them. something about them just felt off.

Wrong.

The red head man was getting closer now, " hello anything we can help you with?" he said politely a smile on his face, Harry wished he had his wand, the man looked innocent, but his magic was warning him of something dangerous. He reminded him slightly of Remus who was kind but had something dark underneath the surface. This man felt dangerous, the man's eyes looked cold and dull even though he tried to hide it" Um no we were just on our way" he stepped back while standing protectively in front of Dudley hiding him from view even if said boy was twice his size. 

The man tilts his head to the side " are you sure?" he asked, another few steps and he would be on them. 

Suddenly there was a scream from one of the houses making Harry jerk around to see a lady running out the front door of one of the houses, she was blonde and wore a red jacket and jeans, she screamed as she tripped and fell down the front steps. Right behind her were two others, a man and woman running pass her not even bothering to help her up, the man ran down the street and into the woods without looking back while the woman ran their direction while looking back not realizing what was Infront of her. She was skinny and looked to be in her early twenties with short dirty blonde hair.

Harry watched as another person exit the house, it was an old lady wearing all black. The woman blinded with fear ran straight into the red-haired man," your bad at this game " the man said with a wide smile on his face that made him look inhuman. Before Harry could react, the man grabbed the women throat with clawed hands?

Harry watched in shock and fear as the innocent looking red haired man tore through the woman like butter with a wide smile as his face morphed into something hideous. The sound of inhuman roars and terrified screams filled the air. Harry felt his heartbeat faster as he froze in fear, there was so much blood.

He seen the old lady had caught the girl with red jacket and was dragging her back into the house. One of her clawed hands had dug into her leg and cut in deep causing the girl to scream in pain and horror. Harry could hear Petunia and Dudley screaming behind him, he could fell Dudley fingers holding onto him tightly. Suddenly he spotted the lady dressed as a nurse was coming towards them her face breaking out into a wide smile. 

He unfroze and backed away dragging Dudley along just in time as the woman swiped her claws at them, " get back in the car " he yelled shoving his cousin in the backseat, this time successful, the boy was sobbing while petunia was still screaming. Harry grabbed her and forced her into the passenger seat, by then the rest were on them, he felt his magic bubble as one came near, the cowboy ran forward as harry went to punch him but instead a flash of green and the man was sent flying into a tree, it impaled him through the chest.

Harry eyes widen in shock but decided not to think on it, he jumped in the car and started the ignition, he slammed on the gas just as another tried to get him, he sped off leaving the town and the strange monsters behind, he could the shrieks of monsters as he passed them. It sent shills down his spine. 

" What was that!" Screamed Dudley shaking as Harry swerved around a curve, he didn't know how to drive but he seen Uncle Vermon trying to teach Dudley enough to figure it out. " I don't know " Harry said breathing hard. He ran a hand through his hair, they were on a long road with nothing but woods on both sides, he ran over a train track ignoring the bump, he wanted to get as far away as possible. 

" I've never seen creatures like them " Harry said, he wished Hermione was here, maybe she would know, she always had an answer. " There faces....what they did to those poor people " Petunia put a hand over her mouth, she felt sick to the stomach. Suddenly everything she had eaten that day came up and all over the dashboard, Dudley wasn't far behind as he puked on himself. Harry looked in the revie mirror making sure nothing was behind them when he noticed the white barn that and the familiar town " what the? I just" he stuttered seeing the same creatures waving at them, one was on the swings while the cowboy was still impaled on the tree branch, but Harry could see him still alive since he too was waving at them with a smile. 

" How are we back here? did you take a wrong turn?" Petunia screeched at him as Harry sped pass the creatures and womans corpse. " No, I didn't turn anywhere" he yelled back at her frustrated, " I want to go home " Cried his cousin who clung to Harry seat and shirt. " What the hell" cursed Harry as they once again came upon the town, " this can't be possible " he said eyes wild as he felt his magic rising again. " no, no, no" cried his aunt.

" Do something! use your powers " cried Dudley seeing the red-haired man walking towards them with that creepy bloody smile. " damnit I don't have my wand since someone decided it was a good idea to lock it up" he snapped looking pointedly at his aunt who got even paler at his words. " You used magic earlier " his aunt said " yeah and it took a lot out of me" he snapped, wandless magic was rare and hard, the most a witch or wizard could do was levitate a small and light item, he knew Molly weaselly could levitate the seasoning to her or Percy could charm his notepad and Quill to take notes Simler to Rita Skeeter did.

What he did was instinct and he wasn't normal either, nothing he did was, he had thought it was normal to talk to snakes but instead had learned that it was a rare gift and a dark one at that. 

Harry pressed on the gas and once again drove out of the town, crossing the train tracks after five minutes they were driving back into town again. " it's a loop! " Harry growled angry. " fuck" he cursed as he went to run one over only for it to step out of the way last minute. The nurse giggled behind her hands, " got to be faster than that" she laughed. 

" Go that way" Petunia pointed to a street, Harry turned speeding down the street overgrown houses, it was when he was swinging the car around another curve and went to fast, and the car tilted causing it to flip off the road. 

Everything went black as Harry head smacked hard into the wheel.

Chapter Text

Boyd blinked as the sun shined into his eye as he lifts the hidden trap door, behind him was his son and wife along with father katrie, Donna, Dale and Emily. As his eyes adjusted to the morning light the first thing, He noticed was red. The red was blood, and it belonged to the now cold corpse of what used to be Jenna Armstrong, he recognized her red jacket, the girl always wore it. Boyd was glad he hadn't eaten recently, or he would have been sick, though he still gagged at the sight even though it was beginning to become a common occurrence to find at least one body in the morning.

He sighed as he crawled out of the small and cramped hiding spot, " oh god " Dale said " its Jenna" he rubbed his head as he looked away from the sight, her insides were missing and one arm had been ripped off, blood splattered the pavement. " She was hiding with Jake and Clair " said Donna helping Emily up. " Yeah, she was a good kid " Boyd rubbed his face.

Abby covered her sons' eyes even though it was no use he had already seen. It was then more people started to appear from all over, coming out of hiding spots and heading to the cafe. " Alright head count " Boyed said as Father katrie who had at some point left and came back with a blanket to put over the poor girl remains.

Kenny appeared with his parents next to him, they were the newest, had only been here for a month, Kenny's mother ran the cafe that was a makeshift soup kitchen and storage. While Boyd counted what should have been twenty-two was now twenty as they found Clair body down the road in the same shape Jenna's had been. Jake had not so long ago appeared from the woods covered in dirt and scratches from running into tree branches.

" We were hiding in the basement, they found us and " the man stared down at the blood in horror, " I just left them" he whispered as katrie tried to comfort him. " It wasn't your fought, it's those damn things" said Donna voice rough.

" Hey there's a car " someone shouted pointing down the street to where there was a car that they didn't recognize flipped over in a ditch, " shit" Donna eyes widen in horror. " Alright everyone just stay here, Donna Kenny you with me " Boyd ordered as his wife Abby was already moving towards the overturned car. Boyed right behind her.

The first thing Boyed noticed was the almost invisible glimmer of something surrounding the car. He frowned in confusion when he tried to get closer, but something stopped him. " What the fuck" Boyed turned to his wife seeing she was having the same issue of getting closer to the car.

" What is it?" Abby asked hand reaching out and touching the glimmer only for it to become more visible, it looked like a force shield creating a dome around the car. It was something you would see on Tv on the Syfy channel. " Okay this is weird " Boyed said on edge. He was expecting a lot of things, expecting to find another body he would have to bury. Seems he buries more people than saves these days.

" What the fuck" Kenny appeared from behind them staring at the now invisible shield. " My thoughts exactly " Boyed said scratching his head, he then walked to the other side of the car trying to see inside. it was then he noticed a person inside the car.

" Hey there are people " he said as the others ran to his side. 

" shit" Kenny cursed.

There were three of them from what Boyed could see, a woman and two boys, shit they were kids, Boyed rubbed his face praying they were alive. " Alright, I want no one seeing this until we figure out what it is" Boyed said looking at his wife and friends. 

" Alright I'll go distract them" said Abbey taking charge, she kissed her husband on the cheek before leaving. Abby ignored the tired feeling she was feeling and continued on, she hadn't been sleeping well and when she did it was full of nightmares. This place was hell, and they needed to wake up.

" Hello " Boyed tried to wake the strangers up; he tried to get closer but couldn't. The woman he could see was a head wound from her head smashing against the window, and he could see something sticking out of her arm. Donna appears with an ax and takes a swing to the shield before Boyed could stop her. It cracked surprising them. 

" Shit Donna we don't know how this thing could react " Boyed curse as Donna took another swing this time shattering the dome. " My guess it was to keep the monsters away" said Donna stepping forward. " And were not monsters" she finished before dropping down to her knees to check the woman's pulse. Boyed quicky went to the other side checking the boy pulse behind the wheel and sighed in relief when he found one, it was slow but there.

" alive" they both yelled at the same time, Boyed smiled before going to check the third, the third boy was big for his age, and was hard to get to but he managed and was glad to find a pulse. All three had head injuries most likely from the crash.

" All right let's get them out of here" Boyed said. " Kenny go bring the truck around and get Hector" he ordered the young man who stuttered out an okay and was scrambling to get the truck keys out. Hector was a retired doctor who had come to the town two months before. He had been with his Wife Marian on vacation when they saw that damn tree in the road. They had been lucky to arrive in daylight and had decided to heed Boyed and Abby advice to take shelter with them.

Boyed was able to pull the big teen out from the backseat after cutting through the seatbelt, the boy head was crusted with blood, as far as Boyed could see there weren't any major injuries to the naked eye other than cuts and bruises.

Donna was looking over the woman and frowning at the metal sticking out of her arm. 

Boyed moved to the boy behind the wheel and gently pulled him out the car, by then he could hear the truck returning with Kenny and the doctor. Kenny appears in his vision looking worried. " There alive, the boys have head injuries but other than that they look fine the woman on the other hand " said Boyed to Hector who was already scanning the three with blue eyes. " I'll be the judge of that " was all he said before getting to work.

" let's get them back to the school" Hector said thinking of the school that he plans to turn into a makeshift hospital.

Petunia awoke to ceiling that wasn't hers, she frowned in confusion as she wonders why she wasn't in her own bed? she didn't remember staying over at Marge or anything. That was the last place she wanted to stay at. Vermon's sisters got on her nerves, and she hated when she came over for the holidays. That mutt of hers always peeing on her floors and Marge just laughs it away.

Petunia turned her head when she heard a noise and found an old woman sitting in a chair knitting something. The woman hadn't noticed her awake yet. The woman looked to be in her sixties with long dark brown hair with stripes of grey running through them. It was her eyes that caught her attention, they were green like lily's and Petunia had to look away. 

Her movement caused the woman to notice her and put down what she was working on, " oh your awake deary" her voice sounded like bells to petunia ears, gentle and kind. " Where am I" petunia asked voice cracking, her head was killing her and body felt like it had been put through the wringer. Suddenly everything started coming back to her, the trip to America, the gas station, her nephew's owl going crazy, green sparks, the monsters coming out of the night. The screams from those pour girls as they were ripped apart.

Panic and fear coursed through her as she sat up faster and stared at the woman in fear, she could be one of those things.

Petunia searched the area for her son and nephew but couldn't find them due to the white curtain blocking her view. " Your safe those things Arnt here " said the woman going to place a what was supposed to be a calming hand on her shoulder, but Petunia flinched and smacked it away before crawling out of the bed, " Dudley! " She called out hoping her son would respond. She felt pain run up her arm and cried out when she noticed the bandages wrapped tightly around her forearm and spots of blood leaking through.

" Careful you're going to undo all my hard work " a male voice spoke causing Petunia to turn and see an old man in a brown suit standing in the doorway. His hair was all white except for a single streak of black running through it.

" Where is my son! " Petunia demanded voice sharp as she glared at the two.

" Hès safe " said the woman causing Petunia to pause. " Dudley right, he's with Ellis and Boyed, your nephew is still asleep " she said just as a man with dark skin appeared next to the old man, " I heard yelling is everything alright " he asked dark eyes canning the room. " She awakes " grunted the man. 

" oh " Boyed nodded. 

Dudley appeared with another boy that looked to be older, " mom" Dudley yelled running to her, his big form nearly knocking the woman over. " Dudders" Petunia hugged him somehow managing to get her boney arms to wrap around him. She ignored the pain in her arm.

Petunia looked him over for injures and found his wrist in a yellow cast but other than scrapes and bruise she could see. He was fine from what she could gather. She sighed in relief before looking to the three strangers on the other side of the room.

" Where are we? what were those things? huh?" she demanded stepping protectively Infront of her son. 

" Now this is going to be a long story and one you might not believe but seeing as you what you went through last night " the dark skin man began.

" Try me " Petunia crossed her arms, if it wasn't for Lilly being a witch and discovering there was a whole another world full of magic, she would be taking this a lot harder.

" And where is my nephew " she asked pushing down the small concern that threatened to rise in her, she told herself she was just curious to where he was. " Still Asleep" said he woman kindly. " He has a cracked rib " The man said taking a seat in the rolling chair. " Other than that, he should be fine " he added.

Petunia nodded relieved to hear that. 

" I'm Hector by the way and this is my lovely wife Marion " he said pointing to the lady who smiled sweetly at her. Hector pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his front pocket. What Petunia thought to be cigarettes in the pack was not what she was expecting. Instead of cigarettes there were rolled joints.

" I'm Boyed and this is my son Ellis" the dark-skinned man introduced himself and son, Ellis gave a little wave.

Boyed looked to be thinking, " let's take a walk" he said heading towards the door. With Dudley close behind her petunia followed the man not knowing how much her life was about to change, for the better or worst she wasn't sure.

Unknown to them small blue runes were breaking apart deep within her.
