Chapter Text
The sun was setting when Yuzuki walks up to her brothers school. Yuzuki saw her brother and another person standing at the gate of the school when she walked closer. Soon she realised who it was and groaned lightly.
“Why from all the people does it has to be him?”
She didn’t had anything extremely against him, she just had something against the friends of their parents and didn’t see them in a great light, even though she had only met a handful of people. But since Senku and her where alone for most of the time and she didn’t know many of her parents friends, gave her enough reasons to be on her guard when it came to strangers getting closer to her and her brother.
Yuzuki walked a little faster, tightening her hold on her backpack and came to a stop next to her brother. Senku turned his blank look away from the man and looked up to his sister. The red in his eyes, that could rival with rubies, lighten up with the sight of his sister coming closer and standing next to him.
“Nee-san.”
“Hey, Sen.” She smiled down at her little brother before turning back to the man standing in front of them. Her eyes guarded and her grip on her brothers hand slightly tightening, not too tight to hurt but enough to give him the feeling that she will protect him no matter what.
Byakuya released a nervous laugh when he saw how guarded her posture was. “Hey…., how have you been….?” he scratched himself behind his head as he tried to keep the conversation going. It has been a long time since Byakuya had seen the girl. Years even.
It was hard for him to keep talking about what he had started with Senku. As much as Senku didn’t care where his parents are and what they’re doing, Yuzuki was old enough to have spent time with them and care. When Senku was born their parents where less present and started to be more absent, than they were with Yuzuki. They had distanced themselves from their kids without explanation.
Yuzuki in particular, didn’t really care what they were up to now or if they were thinking about them or anything else. But deep down, she was holding a grudge against them even if the feeling is very subtle and doesn’t really bother her a lot.
Yuzuki and Senku are a little different, when it comes to their personalities but the topic about their biological family still stays the same.
They don’t care where ever those good for nothing are right now and hope that they don’t see them again. On thing for sure with Yuzuki however, is that she also doesn’t want anything to do with their parents supposed close friend, Byakuya Ishigami, who was now standing in front of them.
She was staring holes at him while Senku held her school jacket also staring, with a very uninterested gaze at the suspicious looking man who suddenly started to talk to two kids. Senku had changed his position and stepped a little further behind his sister even if it wasn’t by a lot and slipped his hand away from her grip. For all they know, Byakuya could have been a pedophile, but lucky for Bakuya, Yuzuki still knew who he was and remembered how he looked light even if it has been years since their last meeting.
Byakuya shuddered “It feels like she could see my soul and judge me to where I would go in the afterlife” he tried to not make it too obvious that her eyes made him a little squirmy. The shade of blue was so intense, reflecting the setting sun. Byakuya would have never thought that he would be scared of a girl so young. It was the first time that he felt intimidated by those eyes. Her mother had the same eyes but they never felt this cold. It made him feel guilty about their position. He didn’t agree how his friends had decided to prioritise their career. The only thing he could do was take those two in and give them the love they should have received all these years.
“I should have come sooner, but who would have thought that these two are so good at diverting to different topics.” Byakuya thought about all the times his old friends changed the topic, every time he asked how their kids were doing and who was keeping an eye on them.
Yuzuki had enough of the man’s silence and crossed her arms. “What do you want with my brother, old man.”
“Eeeeh, Old man?!” His eyes looked like they would fall out their sockets when his brain registered what she called him. He quickly shook his head to get rid of his initial shock. “Never mind that, she is giving me a chance to explain and I should take it.”
“I ehm…. Well you know that I’m a friend of your parents and since… well…”
“Since what?”
“Well you know,” Byakuya had a hard time continuing his speech

In the end, Byakuya was able to convince the little genius and her brother to take them back to his place. He knew that it was going to be hard. Not only to take care of them, but also to fight against the hostility Yuzuki gave off. Most of the time, she didn’t care and continued to take care of her brother. Though other time, it became harder and harder to continue on like they did before. The addition to their small established family was a weird change. Byakuya gave his best to be there for them. Mostly, he tried to give Yuzuki some space and only interact with her when she felt indifferent about his present. It was easier for him to interact with Senku, because of his vast interest for science and the stars.
Besides working as a professor in a university, Byakuya gave his best to take on the role and job of a father for both of them. Slowly over time, they all got used to each others presence in their live. Even though, there were times that Byakuya forgot that he had not one but two geniuses under his roof now.
For Example, one morning he was getting ready in the bath and when he was so focused on trimming his beard he got startled and cut himself a little when Senku opened the bathroom.
“Don’t use the toothbrush.” he just said before leaving Byakuya alone and confused.
Seconds later, Yuzuki knocked and opened the door with a sigh and handed over a disposable toothbrush.
“Senku took out the electrical parts from you toothbrush yesterday.” She said tiredly. When her gaze with his face she saw the cut he made and slipped into the room before searching for the alcohol wipes under the sink and hand it to him, still crouching down and moving everything back into their places with her other hand.
Byakuya took the alcohol wipe silently and cleaned his cut with it. He was still trying to comprehend what had happened in the span of a minute, blinking as if it would reboot his brain so early in the morning. Meanwhile, Yuzuki walked back out of the bathroom, still in her sleep wear and walking down towards the kitchen where her brother was searching for something in their first aid kit.
“What are you looking for?”
“Bandaid.”
Yuzuki’s eyes soften slightly and she walked towards the fridge and started to take out their breakfast, letting her brother do whatever he wanted for now. Byakuya joined them later on. The siblings had finished placing everything on the table and started eating when he sat down at the table.
Byakuya blinked confused for the second time this morning when his eyes met with a colourful bandaid on his plate. He looked up and saw the two in front of him ignore him completely and smiled, placing it to the side for the time being and ate,
That day, Byakuya’s students and colleagues where confused and amused when they saw a bright red bandaid with cartoon placed on his cheek. Many of his students couldn’t stop their laughter after seeing their professor like that.
“Professor Ishigami, may I ask a question? It’s not about the lecture though.”
“Go ahead.”
“Why do you have a bandaid on?” Many muffled chuckles could be heard but they quickly disappeared when they saw his loving smile. His eyes unfocused as he thought back, just that morning how both of the siblings took care of him in their own way.
“Just something my son gave me.” He answered with a closed eyed smile before he continued with their class.

Over the years, after moving all their stuff from their old house into the Ishigami residence and after the legal procedure of Byakuya becoming their legal guardian, did the hostility and cations settle down. Yuzuki was able to relax a little from taking care of her brother with Byakuya’s care for them. Byakuya was extremely happy to see Yuzuki act more her age after everything and have a little fun. She was younger than most of her peers but that didn’t stop her from making friends and scoring top of her year everytime. The side quest she did where also shocking, no matter how long Byakuya knew her, it would always knock him out.
Graduating high school at the age of 15, with no less than the best grades and multiple experiences under her belt as well as some bachelor degrees she did besides school before Byakuya intervened. He told her to take it easy and that if she really was bored that she should take some breaks and get experiences. She took his advice and took some breaks from school too, if she didn’t she would probably have graduated even younger.
At home, she took over cooking when their father couldn’t make it and helped Senku with any projects he wanted her input. She enjoyed the time free from the school system and focused on her kyudo skill. She spent a lot of her time in the dojo and practising her kyudo skills, sometimes she would join other courses that happened in the dojo. Martial arts was one of them she quite liked but didn’t indulge in it too much.
Every now and than she would look up and search for any projects she could work in. Be it company projects or small groups that searched for people that had knowledge in some topics. Yuzuki also spent her time in writing papers and essays about the most diverse things and posted them online. With all her experience and knowledge it wasn’t a surprise for her that many business people would reach out to her to recruit her. Though, not even one was able to achieve that. She had declined every single one of them. She only lend a hand when needed, never more. The idea of being bind to one place wasn’t very appealing to her and the older Ishigami decided in the end to stay away from big companies and only help out and give advice or built plans for them.
Over time she entered, out of interest, a competition. It wasn’t the first competition she participated, but this one was more particular than others. After she had won it, one recruiter of NASA walked up to her and her family asking if she would be interested in helping out in a project they were working on recently. Quickly decided, she was now one of the youngest who worked with NASA, and helped them out sometimes with their projects, especially with their next project.
Not only did she work at the space rocket that Byakuya boarded with the help of Senku and his friend but she also had found a wonderful boyfriend, who Byakuya had the pleasure to meet. For some time, Byakuya was actually scared that she wouldn’t let him meet the important people in her life. But luckily for him, she saw him more than a friend of her biological parents, but as a father. The same goes for Senku, but both of them aren’t the type of people that would say it very often. They preferred to show it in their actions than tell him that.
In the end, not only did Byakuya have the most lovingly and smartest kids under his arms but they even changed his life too.
“I don’t think I would be here where I was today if it weren’t for those two.”
Senku who got busy with his projects and research, still a High school student who loved to ask his sister millions of questions. And Yuzuki, finally having quenched her thirst for attending college and working comfortably from home most of the time, having no problem keeping up with her brothers questions.
Their Ishigami household.
Byakuya Ishigami, Senku Ishigami and Dr.Yuzuki Ishigami.
The happy family of three living their lives together with the intentions to reach the stars.
