Chapter Text
You wake up on the Polar Tang bright and early that morning, following Ikkaku to the kitchen for some breakfast. There you spot your captain, pouring hot coffee into his mug, with dark circles under his eyes. Shachi, along with most of the crew was still in bed, seeing as only Bepo and Penguin were up making breakfast.
"Morning Captain"
"Morning" Law grumbles, sipping his coffee.
"What tasks are on the schedule for today?" You ask quietly as you grab a plate from the cabinet beside him.
"The log pose needs to reset, so we're stopping here for now." He sighs, looking over to you. "The surgery is running low on medicinal herbs."
"And we're running low on fresh fruit and vegetables" Bepo chimes in.
"Could you take care of that on your own? I'd rather you go so we don't have another food poisoning incident." Law states, taking another sip of his coffee.
Penguin butts in, "Captain what if there's dangerous wildlife on the island?"
"She is capable of defending herself, but I suppose we can spare a few crew-members..."
"Depending on how much I'm meant to bring back, I might need helpers anyway." You reply.
Penguin's face lights up, "I could go with her Captain, I already got my chores done earlier this morning."
Ikkaku elbows him in the ribs "You just want to go so you'll have y/n to yourself." She says with a teasing laugh.
"Whatever, as long as you aren't slacking on your duties." Law says, rolling his eyes.
You finish piling your plate with breakfast as the conversation continues, taking a seat at the counter. Shachi finally woke up at around 7:30, while the rest of the group ate breakfast. He plops down beside you with a cup of orange juice and a muffin.
"Hey what are we doing today? I figure I missed the Captain's spiel, I could hear grumbling from the bathroom while I was brushing my teeth." Shachi laughs, taking a bite of his food.
"Captain wants me to go restock food and medical supplies on the island while the pose resets. Penguin is coming with me to help carry everything."
"Do you think there's room for one more? I'm tired of sitting around in the engine room, everything has been fixed down there and it's so hot and muggy." He grumbles.
"I suppose we could ask, with the way this crew eats, it would be wise to have more than two people out collecting food."
"Hey Captain, can I go with them? The engine is all tuned up as of yesterday, and my chores can wait until this afternoon." Shachi asks, watching Law pour his second cup of coffee.
"Yeah, I honestly could use the help Sir." You add.
Law raises an eyebrow. "I mean if it gets the work done faster, do whatever you want. Botanist, you're in charge of them, make sure they don't get into trouble." He huffs, taking a big gulp from his mug. "Now stop bugging me, I'm only on my second cup."
"Yes Sir." You say with a nod. "I'll keep an eye on them." You laugh as you look over at Penguin and Shachi, who were now exchanging high-fives.
You polish off your plate and head to the supply room to gather equipment for your mission, the boys following behind you closely.
