Chapter Text

Flaccid body laying on the floor, arms at her side, a slight twitch of the wrist. Silence fills the space around her as a leg jerks, as if having fallen in a dream. Suddenly a gasp breaks the quiet, her back arches from the floor and air rushes into lungs. Contorted arms and legs stiffen as her body bridges upward, as if being pulled to the ceiling by an invisible magnet. Then, as suddenly as it had started it was over, her body collapsing to the floor. Limp once more her breathing quickening with short shallow breaths. Moments later the breaths slowing and becoming more melodic, as her eyes open.

Blurred and fogged her eyes tried to focus as she lay facing the ceiling. Immense white light flooded her eyes, making tears roll down the side of her face.  She lay there for few moments letting her eyes focus as the white panels on the ceiling came fully in to view. Turning her head to the right and then left, seeing that the same illuminated tiles lined the walls. The room was so intensely white that she found herself squinting for relief as she rolled over onto her side.

Looking down at her body she found herself in a slightly off-white pair of shorts and a white tank top that hugged her body. Rolling to her stomach and then pushing herself up to her hands and knees, her head hung for a moment as she caught her breath. Lifting her head, her eyes were blinded yet again by white backlit panels on the floor. Bringing her hand to her face to help shield the light she felt something cold against her forehead.

Pulling her hand away from her face and into view she saw what appeared to be a thick, large, metal bracelet around her left wrist. She pushed herself up, sitting on the floor, examining the metal encircling her wrist.  Her mind still hazy, unable to form a thought as her fingers ran over metal, finding tiny black ridges along the outer edges and a single solid yellow light in the middle.

Finally, a single thought entered her mind, cold, as her body shivered slightly. Fingers still tracing the metal before wandering down her forearm to black lettering on her skin. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath and let herself collect a full thought.

It's a tattoo.... Her eyes focusing as she read ITS-VIX in black lettering raised up from red irritated skin on her forearm.  Her finger traced over the lettering, coming to a solid black line over the V, she winced slightly from the sting of her reddened skin.

What is this? Where am I?

She ran hands over her body as she shivered again, feeling how clammy her skin was. Eyes finally becoming fully adjusted, she realized how massive the room was, and then she saw it.

Struggling with weakness for a moment she stood up, eyes fixed on a gigantic metal door that stretched from floor to ceiling. Taking small steps at first she stumbled before gaining her footing, holding her hands out she reached for the door. As she lay her palm against the cold metal, a shriek echoed from the other side. Startled she stumbled backwards, falling and catching herself, the yellow solid light on the bracelet turned to slow flashing green and began to softly beep. Lifting her wrist into view the green light turned back to solid yellow as her breathing slowed. Her eyes wide as she stared at the door.

What the fuck is going on, why can't I remember anything?  Her thoughts raced as a light hissing made her turn and look behind her. A large pane of glass appeared having been hidden by part of the wall that was now retracting. At first she was too far away to see beyond the glass, the lights from the room causing a mirror reflection.

Standing up and walking toward the window, she finally saw herself. Her hair fell a little past her shoulders, dark brunette with a few strands of deep red and bright purple showing. Reaching up she watched as the mirror image of herself ran fingers through her damp hair.  Her hands ran over the curves of her body, hips popping out from her waist. Close enough now she could tell she had very bright light green eyes, leaning in she observe more.

Is this me? Who am I? What the fuck is this place?  She looked back into the room at the metal door and then back to the mirror. This time as she spun around she gasped at the sight of three men standing behind the glass, the mirror image gone.  Each adorning a white lab coat and each wearing glasses that shined white from the reflection of the room, hiding their eyes. Two of the men sat at a control board, their hands fiddling with knobs in front of them. The third man stood tall, holding a tablet, his fingers frantically typing as he stared forward. Anxious and suddenly enraged, she began beating her hands against the glass.

"Hey!! Who the fuck are you? Where the fuck am I? Hey!!" Screaming louder and louder, her voice began to crack. Slamming her hands against the glass over and over. "Hello? Are you going to fucking answer me?" The men did not acknowledge her, and continued their tasks, staring into the room. Slamming her fists against the pane of glass again "Let me the fuck out!!!! Help!!!! Help!!!! Anybody!!! Please!!!!" She slammed her fist against the glass one last time, pushed herself off with her palms, spitting on the glass before presenting her middle finger to the three men. "Fuck all of you!! Help!!!!! Please!!!!"

As suddenly as her rage started, her anxiousness and fear grabbed hold as she collapsed to the floor.  Tears began welling up in her eyes from every bad emotion she knew how to have. Then the beeping from her wrist brought her mind back, not having noticed that it had been going off since she had begun beating on the window. Her heart was racing, she could feel every beat in her neck, bounding, each one coinciding with beeping on her wrist. Hands rested against the floor, she tried to slow her breathing.  She could see the bright green light flashing against the white floor with each beat of her heart. Taking a deep breath, she leaning back and composed herself as much as she could. Standing up she turned back toward the glass, staring at the three men. She slowly walked back to within a few inches of the glass.

"I'm sorry.....I have no idea where I am or who I am....please...please let me go....please....I just want to go home....wherever that is....I just don't want to be here anymore...." her cheeks streaming with tears, the beeping from her wrist beginning again. "Please, I'll do anything you want". The men did not falter, they did not flinch, they stayed stone faced as they pressed on with their tasks at hand. Realizing her pleading was falling upon deaf ears she became enraged again.

"Fuck you!!!!" Slamming her fist into the glass. "Fuck you!!!" Fist slamming again. Every word coming from her lips being emphasized with her fist against the glass.         "Fuck...you...mother...fuckers....let...me...OUT!!!!     Her knuckles bloody and streaking the glass. The mirrored tint suddenly returned as the men disappeared from view, leaving her staring at an emotionally broken, confused woman. Scared and in pain she trembled, looking down at the blood on her hands. Turning her hands from side to side she wiped the blood away, trying to find the wounds. Not a single scratch was found as her mind tried to wrap itself around the pain she felt and the blood left behind, where am I cut?. Staring at the mirror, seeing the blood streaked, she ran her hand down the glass and saw the metal door in the reflection once more.

As she watched the door there was another hydraulic hissing sound from behind her. From the reflection she stood frozen as she witnessed a small hatch opening at the bottom of the door. A thick mist rolled out from the dark behind the metal, hugging the floor as it slowly began covering the room.

Then, the same shriek she had heard when touching the door before, echoed from the darkness beyond the small open panel......
