Chapter 1: The End; The Beginning
“Come back safe”, Ochako’s voice echoes through Deku’s head, his ears ringing from the constant explosions and yelling surrounding him. Danger Sense screams, and Deku pivots in the air and darts to the left as a Power Magnified Air Cannon shoots by his head. He looks up to where the attack originated from. Shigaraki, the self proclaimed “Symbol of Fear” looks down at him and speaks, but the words are lost in the quirk-fuelled storm caused by Shoto and Dabi. Deku powers up Fa Jin through flicking his arm, blackwhip forming a spear aiming to pierce through Shigaraki’s next attack. The wind howls as a crumbling building is struck by an errant energy beam from Shigaraki’s charging attack. Fa Jin clicks, alerting Deku to the fact that it is ready to use. He charges up One For All at 100% into his legs and right arm, float to negate gravity, smokescreen to throw out of the soles of his feet, imitating Gran Torino and blackwhip ready in a razor-sharp spear, ready to skewer Shigaraki’s massive attack and to wrap around the supervillain and save him.
Shigaraki’s attack reaches its maximum charge, and Shigaraki launches the beam straight down at Deku as he launches upwards, blackwhip poised to cleave the beam in two. Deku and the beam collide, and the beam splits in two as he charges up towards the Symbol of Fear. Shigaraki’s eyes widen as Deku uses blackwhip to spring off of, to flip over the supervillain and end up behind him. His muscle memory takes over, and he stacks up his most powerful combination of quirks into his right arm, ready to put a hole through Deku’s body. Deku charges up 120% One For All into his right arm, using blackwhip to wrap his arm in black tendrils. Their punches meet halfway between their bodies, and glance off of eachother, the two enemies’ eyes widen as the punches approach their faces. Deku uses blackwhip from his other hand, trying to catch the punch before it can impact his face, right above his nose. Shigaraki uses Bone Bulk, a quirk he thought would be useless until now, ready to tank the blow, and finish the ninth user of OFA off for good.
However, Deku’s blackwhip block and Shigaraki’s bone enhanced face were both too late, and too little. The punches impacted and shattered the bones where the force originated from, and a blinding flash lights up the sky, a shockwave booming out, clearing the clouds around ground zero. As the light faded, the result of the clash was revealed to the watching Heroes and Villains. Both the Heroes and Villains stared in shock as the two main fighters in the war were shown falling out of the sky, the top halves of their bodies missing. Deku, the Symbol of Hope, and Shigaraki, the Symbol of Fear, were dead.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” A scream echoes through the early morning air, as Toshinori Yagi, better known as All Might pulls up to Dagobah Municipal Beach Park in his old and worn truck. He quickly exits the vehicle, hearing the screaming of his successor, and thinking he might be hurt, rushes down to the stairs that lead to the beach. The sun is blocked out by a large, uneven shadow. As Toshinori looks up, he sees his successor standing on top of the only garbage pile left in the vicinity of the beach, head tilted back, and screaming. Suddenly, the boy falls backwards off the heap, and Toshinori powers up into his All Might form to catch him.
“I- I did it. I cleaned the entire beach” His successor pants in his arms. “Yes, yes you did, Young Midoriya. You even cleaned outside of where I told you, a performance worthy of a hero!” Izuku responds with a tired smile, content to bask in his mentor’s energy. All Might sets Izuku down onto a bench that they had fixed up earlier in their training. “ You are now ready to receive One For All! All your hard work has paid off, and now not only will you have a quirk, but your body is sturdier and stronger than it was before, and your spirit is too! Young Midoriya, you will be the 9th bearer of One For All!” All Might says, hyping up the moment that they both have been waiting for ever since Izuku started training and clearing the beach all those months ago. Izuku sat up, groaning. “All those months of hard work, leading up to this. What do I have to do to receive your quirk?” he says, standing up against his protesting muscles. “ Well, all you have to do…” All Might dragged on for suspense. Izuku was shaking from a mixture of excitement and exhaustion. “ Is EAT THIS!”
All Might announced as he picked a strand of hair from his head and held it out to Izuku. The green-haired boy blinked slowly, attempting to register the statement before screaming in shock. “ AHAHAHA, not what you were expecting, my boy? Well, you have to consume my DNA for the transfer to hold, and this is the way with the least hassle!” Izuku recovered quickly and grabbed the hair out of All Might’s giant hand. He bundled the hair up into a ball and shoved it down his throat, gagging on the tail end of the strand. A couple minutes later and the strand was swallowed completely. “In Hindsight, water would have been useful” Izuku choked out after finally confirming that the hair was down for sure. All Might laughed, and described how his mentor made him eat her hair to pass down the quirk as well.
A couple hours later, Izuku returned back to his apartment, after a day out with his mentor, Toshinori. They celebrated the transfer of One For All, and the new era of peace that Izuku will usher in after he graduates. All Might had said that One For All would take a few hours to process and be able to be activated. The entrance exam for U.A High was tomorrow, and the quirk still wasn’t activating and Izuku was starting to get worried. As Toshinori and Izuku split off to their homes, he gave his successor one last piece of advice. “Just clench your buttcheeks, and yell SMASH in your heart.” The ninth bearer of One for All was still on the fence about that.
On one hand, it was All Might, and all of his advice was important. On the other, it just sounded like an experimental phrase, like All Might had no real idea how to activate the quirk. Inko Midoriya, Izuku’s mother, was waiting for him as he entered the apartment. “How was your day, Izuku, did you have a good time?” She asked after he took off his shoes. “Yeah! I had a great time! Toshinori-sensei was amazing as always and we celebrated my being done with my training!” He exclaimed, excited at the prospect of the entrance exam the following day. “I am so proud of you, Izuku! You’ve come so far and I can’t wait to see how far you go!” Inko said, supportive after Izuku and his mentor came by their apartment and explained the goal of his training and his reasoning for becoming a hero. She was still scared for him, as a mother sending her child into a dangerous profession, but she knew how important this was to her son. “I’m making katsudon for dinner, it’ll be ready in about 30 minutes.” She says, as Izuku smiles at her acceptance. “Thanks mom, I’m going to take a shower and change, I’ll be out in 20, I love you!” The green haired boy closed the bathroom door and began to shower.
After the dinner of his mother’s amazing katsudon, Izuku crashed into bed, ready to fall asleep after a long day of excitement and a good meal. He looked at his bookshelf full of notebooks, and thought about his friend, Katsuki Bakugou. After Izuku started to bulk up, Bakugou started to leave him alone. It didn’t stop the other kids at school from picking on him, but the worst of the harassment had stopped. He fell asleep with a smile on his face, content with the fact that tomorrow, a new era in his life would begin. He opened his eyes only to see a smoky black dimension for as far as he could see.
He tried to move but his entire body, save for the top of his head and one hand, were made of the same black smoke. His eyes widened as he started to panic, until he felt eight presences appear around him. He turned to look at the presence closest to him. They looked back, surprised. “You can see us?!” The presence said. “Wh-Who are you?” Izuku replied, slightly nervous that his quirk? Was haunted. “I’m First, but you can call me Yoichi! This is the first time a One For All user can see the past users!” Izuku thought for a moment, before remembering that there were 8 presences. “Huh, so all eight of you were past holders of One For All?” “That’s right! Once again, I’m First, over there to your left are Second and Third, behind you are Fourth and Fifth and to your right are Sixth, Seventh and half of Eighth.” Yoichi explained. “Half of Eighth?” Izuku questioned. “Yeah, half, because unlike us, he’s not dead yet. Each user gets a part of their being imprinted into the quirk and we were wondering if that meant our quirks as well.”
A woman’s voice gasped from the right of the ninth, and her presence drew closer to Izuku. “Oh my god! Look at him, he’s so small!” She spoke with an excited inflection in her tone. Izuku took a step back, slightly shocked at how excited she seemed. The woman walked over to stand in Izuku’s line of vision, and smiled down at him. She was beautiful, with long, dark hair, purple eyes, and a vibrant but grounded hero costume. “Hey kid, my name’s Nana Shimura, but you can just call me Seven”. Behind her, the other six users of One For All gathered closer. “You’re All Might’s predecessor and also the one who got him to eat your hair”
Izuku mock-glared at Nana before a mischievous light appeared in his eyes. He smiled “ I have a lot of questions for you”. Nana, who witnessed Izuku’s question-turned-mutter storm before through Toshinori’s eyes, felt a shiver run down her spiritual spine. (Somehow?, she questioned internally) As Izuku started to launch question after question at Nana, First stepped in and placed his hand on Izuku’s left shoulder, grounding him and bringing him out of his trance.
“I know you’re excited, and so are we -well most of us- but we need to explain how to use One For All before you wake up, unless you want to break something trying to use it for the first time tomorrow?” Izuku opens, then closes his mouth, but no sound comes out. He settles on closing it and waiting for First or Seven to speak. Seven speaks first. “For all of us, including Toshinori, we were able to use One For All at 100% right when we received it. However, you probably will not be able to without extensive training, so we’re going to start you off small”.
Izuku questions how he is going to train, when he can’t access One For All in his mindscape. This time, First replies, “Have you meditated before? We’re going to start you off by learning how to control your mind and breathing, so when you attempt to use One For All in an intense situation, you will be able to have a clear head and calm mind”. Izuku, First and Seventh “sit” in a triangle formation on the ground, and First instructs Izuku to close his eyes, and focus on his breathing. They sit and meditate for a while, Izuku matching the two past users' breathing speed and falling into a trance-like state, where all he could feel with his breathing and the vast feeling of One For All in the air around him.
Suddenly, the realm begins to shake. Izuku and the two meditating vestiges open their eyes to see the remaining 6 spirits surrounding a brilliant green light hovering above the ground. “What’s happening?” Seven says to the vestiges. “We have no idea, but based on the energy it’s putting out, it’s gotta be really strong,” says a tall, bulky man with no hair and goggles on his forehead. “I’m Daigoro Banjo, Fifth by the way.” A bright green flash lights up the dark void, and when the light clears, whatever, or rather whoever was responsible for it becomes visible. Seven gasps, and puts a hand over her mouth. Floating a foot off the ground is what appears to be an older Izuku, but severely wounded and bloody. He drops to the ground and opens his eyes; they look exactly like Izuku’s do now, but dulled and exhausted. He looks around, seemingly confused, before his eyes widen as if he came to a realization.
“I… died, didn’t I.” He says, voice shaky and jittery as his brain tries to adjust to the lack of adrenaline now that he is now out of battle, and also dead. His eyes flicker around more before coming to rest on current-Izuku’s shocked face. “This must be just before the Entrance Exam, then. But how? How are you in the vestige realm?” The other vestiges plus Izuku could sense his growing confusion. First speaks up “What do you mean how is he here? How are you here? Who are you?” Vestige-Izuku shakes his head, as if to clear it before responding.
“I didn’t gain access to this place until I- never mind, as for how I am here and who am I? Well, My name is Izuku Midoriya, and I died fighting an All For One-absorbed Shigaraki in the Second Liberation War.” As he said how he died, there was an uproar from the vestiges. Current-Izuku just stared with his mouth hanging open in shock. First clapped his hands and shouted for the vestiges to be quiet. “So He isn’t dead.” First asks Vestige-Izuku. Just before he could answer the question, the sound of an alarm clock rang out through the void, making all the vestige plus Current–Izuku jump. They looked back at him, and saw that he was beginning to wake up.
Most of the vestiges rushed to get their last pieces of advice in before Current-Izuku woke up. First told Izuku to keep meditating and to calm himself before the exam. Fourth spoke up and told him to think before he acted, Fifth told him to use his head, but also to follow his instincts, Seventh told him to do his best and that they’d be proud no matter what happened, and Vestige-Izuku told him to act like a hero. He thanked all of them, and faded out of the realm, and back into the world of the living. After he was gone, the vestiges all looked at Vestige-Izuku and decided to have a long talk, away from Current-Izuku’s ears, so they put up a mental barrier and began to discuss Vestige-Izuku, where he came from, how he died, and what their next steps would be.
As Izuku woke up, he rubbed his eyes, and thought ‘that was a really weird dream.’ Nope, still here came a voice from inside his head. ‘Oh… that’s… wow, it wasn’t a dream. I suppose Vestige-me is there as well?’ Yup, still here as well said his own voice. Izuku sat up and slapped his cheeks a few times before giving himself a small pep talk and climbing out of bed. He went about his morning routine, but just as he was about to step out of the bathroom, First’s voice echoed in his head, Izuku, we are going to be putting a mental barrier up, and discussing a few things with your vestige self, so we will not be able to communicate with you, and you will not be able to communicate with us. We will still keep an eye out for anything that would require One For All’s power, however.
Izuku leaned against the counter ‘I am never going to get used to that. Alright, First, good luck? Will you tell me what you talked about when I get back?’ Izuku asked as a thought. Only the relevant and important things, as we don’t want to distract you from your training. And thanks, good luck to you too. First replied, then went silent. Izuku stepped out of the bathroom, and into the kitchen, where his mother made breakfast for him. She called out from behind the counter where she was washing dishes. “Good morning Izuku, I made breakfast for you, but you better hurry, you don’t want to miss anything!” Izuku sat down at the table and checked the time on his phone.
7:43, I slept longer than I usually do. I wonder if that is because of the vestiges. I wonder, what are they talking about right now? It’s crazy and a bit concerning that there is another full vestige of me in there… Bonk! He looked up to find his mother above him, fist raised and a spot on his head that was hurting. “You were muttering again, now hurry up, the exam starts at 9 and it takes 45 minutes to get there.” Izuku rubbed the top of his head bashfully, before picking up the chopsticks and shovelling food into his mouth. After he was done breakfast, he prepared his bag, and anything he may need. Bh the time that was done, it was 7:55, and to get there on time, he had to leave at around 8-8:05 at the latest. He began some static stretches to warm up his legs, arms and hands before the exams. Before he realized it, it was time to leave, and he kissed his mother goodbye as he walked out the door.
He ran to the train station and just made his train at 8:10. He sank back into the seat, and began to take deep breaths in preparation for what was to come. Before long, the train was pulling into the station near U.A, and it was 8:55. Izuku ran off the train and sprinted for U.A’s giant entrance gate. As he arrived, he stopped and looked up at U.A, and for a moment, reminisced upon all the challenges and mountains he had to overcome to be there. He steeled himself and began to walk towards his future.

Chapter Text
“Oh” He bit out as he tripped over a crack in the path, and fell forwards. Izuku begins to tuck into a roll to absorb the impact, when he feels a hand on his shoulder. As his arms come up to begin the roll, he notices that he is no longer falling. He turns his head and looks up to see a short girl with brown hair and permanent blush marks on her cheeks. She puts all ten of her fingers together once she sees that he will no longer fall “Release”. He lands on his feet, bending his knees to absorb the small shocks. “Sorry, I saw you falling and used my quirk on you, it’d be bad luck to fall just before the exam!” she says brightly. Izuku’s brain stuttered and he attempted to choke out an answer. She giggled and bid him farewell and then walked off. He chastitised himself for not being able to talk to a girl, even after All Might trained him on confidence.
Izuku shook his head and continued to the exam room. The written exam was three hours long, and he found it hard, but not impossible. He finished in two hours and 20 minutes, and the last part was an essay analysis on a hero of his choice. Izuku decided to not write about a well known hero, so in the top 100, as most of everyone else would be doing one, and he didn’t want a repeat. He decided to write about Sir Nighteye, with no knowledge of the rift between the hero and his mentor. He wrote about his quirk, personality and relationship with All Might, not knowing that the information was outdated. Izuku finished his analysis, and handed in the test. He asked to go to the bathroom, where he planned to test out a small percentage of One For All, like First had suggested.
As he stepped into the stall and closed the door, he exhaled a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Time to see if this works he thought to himself, before closing his eyes, and visualizing the core of One For All; the place where he draws its power. He’s had practice drawing out the power in the vestige realm, but never in the waking world, so he was a bit nervous. He took a deep breath, then took a small percent, roughly 5% of the power, and spread it throughout his body. However, what he didn’t know was that Daigoro Banjo decided to play a little prank upon him after sensing that his quirk can be sent through to Izuku after deliberation with the other users. When Izuku called upon the 5% of One For All, not only did green electricity spike out and crackle around his body, but a small strand of Blackwhip had emerged from the center of his palm as well. The surprise of Blackwhip’s emergence caused Izuku to lose control of the small percent of his power, and spike all the way to 100%. His body felt like it was burning, and Izuku closed his eyes, only for the sensation to disappear moments later. He reopened them to find a massive glow surrounding his body, with jagged green lightning coating his body, almost like a cowl, and with glowing green eyes that seemed to emit the green glow as well.
No way… Vestige-Izuku spoke up from within his mind, apparently done with the discussion that he was having. What is that? Seven spoke, her voice displaying awe at the transformation. That’s… That’s 100% of One For All. It took me until the Second War to unlock it. 13 or so months, from receiving the quirk in late February, to utilizing 100% in April the following year. Vestige-Izuku spoke, in disbelief at current-Izuku’s proficiency with a quirk that was said to be able to blow off his limbs. “Second War?” Current-Izuku questioned, alarmed. There are things that we need to discuss about me, One For All, and the future, but for now, just focus on the entrance exam. Izuku looked at his right arm, then bent his elbow. His arm shot up, and sparked, but there was no pain, no bruised limbs or broken arms. He looked up, and began to walk forwards. Izuku opened the stall door, and walked out into the bigger room containing the sinks and urinals. Izuku chambered a punch, then thought better of it, after remembering the force of his arm bending. He powered down, the green sparks dissipating, and left the bathroom.
As he walks back , he sends a text to All Might, one saying that he was able to access 100% of One For All, although he has no idea why, and that he had made contact with the vestiges of the previous holders. All Might does not respond; he doesn’t even see it. Izuku shrugs, thinking that He’ll see it whenever he can, it’s better to wait until I have the full story from Vestige-me anyways. He steps back into the written exam room just as the bell rings and the written exam comes to an end for everyone who didn’t finish. The proctor tells the examinees to make their ways to the auditorium, where another proctor will introduce the practical exam.
As Izuku sits down in the auditorium, next to Bakugou, a loud voice screams out from the stage. “HEYYYYYYY, EVERYONE!” Izuku looks at the stage, and his eyes widen when he recognizes the Voice Hero, Present Mic, who is the proctor for the practical portion of the exam. “IS EVERYONE READYYYYYYYY?” “WELCOME TO THE U.A PRACTICAL EXAM, WHERE YOU WILL BE FIGHTING ROBOTS!” There is a cheer from the crowd, as they realize that they can use their quirks as much as possible to destroy the mechanical menaces. Present Mic continues his speech, as visuals appear on a screen behind the Hero. “THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF ROBOTS, 1 POINTERS, WHICH ARE, LIKE THEIR NAME IMPLIES, ARE WORTH ONE POINT. 2 POINTERS, WHICH ARE WORTH 2, AND THREE POINTERS, WHICH ARE WORTH 3.” The screen lights up and displays the robots’ designs in a cartoonish style.
Before Present Mic can continue his speech, a hand is raised in the audience, and Present Mic calls on him. “Excuse me sir, but there are four types of robots on the printed description of the exam. If this is a misprint, U.A should be ashamed, as lying is very unheroic.” Almost everyone in the audience turns to look at the examinee that spoke up. “Also, you, with the green, curly hair. You have been mumbling this entire time, and disrupting the people trying to focus. If you are not going to take this exam seriously, then leave.” Izuku shrinks into his seat, as Present Mic calls back the attention of the audience. “THANK YOU, EXAMINEE NUMBER 4522. THE LAST ROBOT IS CALLED THE 0-POINTER, AND IT IS A ROADBLOCK, THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED.” The Hero clarifies, staunching any complaints or arguments in the audience. “NOW, LEt’S GO, PLUS-” He calls, expecting a response. The crowd screams “ULTRA!”, hyped up for the exam.
As the examinees line up, Izuku spots the girl that saved him before, clutching her hands together and bouncing her leg. He moves to talk to her, to reassure her, when Blackwhip shoots out of his shoulder earning a gasp from the examinee that yelled at him before, that was attempting to grab his shoulder. “Quirk use on other examinees isn’t heroic at all, I also saw that you were going to interrupt that girl over there. What are you trying to do? Distract her and make her fail?’ The tall boy reprimands him. Izuku had to look up to meet his eyes; the boy had blue hair and square glasses, with a stern expression on his face. “N-No sorry; the girl looked nervous and I wanted to offer her some words of encouragement; she saved me before the exam, and I wanted to thank her” Izuku replied, finding his stride in his response. Before the tall boy could respond, Present Mic’s voice rang out throughout the exam site; “THE U.A PRACTICAL EXAM STARTS… NOW!”
Everyone stops and stares, while Izuku, used to moving in an instant during his training, powered up One For All at 100%. An aura filled the exam site, one that felt like 9 people in one, and every head turned to look at where it originated from. Not one to waste time, Izuku bent his knees, cracking the pavement underneath him, and shot off. A sonic boom echoes out, and the vapour cone caused by the sudden breaking of the sound barrier blasts the examinees. All of their mouths drop open in shock; the small, green haired boy that they dismissed as not a threat just broke the sound barrier just by pushing off the ground. The examinees recovered from the shock, then started forwards in the site.
Meanwhile, a green blur shoots past the robots, and attempts to stop, slamming into the road. Izuku’s eyes widened; he literally ran through a couple robots. He hears noises coming from the right of him, and turns his head. He sees 5 robots marching down the street towards him; 2 1-Pointers, 2 2-Pointers and 1 3-Pointer. He raises a fist and chambers a punch. Time to see what I can really do He says in his mind, as the robots draw closer. When the robots are 20 meters away, Izuku fires the punch. A boom rings out, once again as the sound barrier is broken for the second time. A gust of wind blasts out from the punch, and obliterates the robots. It also destroys the street, some of the buildings on either side of him, and even the clouds in the sky. He looks down at his hand in awe when he feels a raindrop on his head. He looks back up as the skies darken. It begins to rain. “Holy crap” Izuku smiles.
In the control booth, the teachers stare in shock. All Might almost deflates, as he coughs blood. In a sleeping bag, a single eye opens. “WELL… What the hell??” Present Mic says, managing to control his quirk at the last second. “When I saw him being scolded by Examinee 4522, I thought he was a pushover, not capable of this power” he continues. Principal Nezu looks at All Might with a knowing look. The man in the sleeping bag speaks up “When he threw the punch, he destroyed the robots, sure, but also the street and buildings around him; he needs to have more control or else he’s not going to make it as a hero” Principal Nezu turns to him “Rational as ever, Aizawa; when he does get it, he’s going in your class.” Aizawa groans.
In the exam site, Izuku has managed to adapt to the speed of 100%, after a few mishaps involving walls, buildings and streets. He hasn’t thrown any more punches, resolving to just run through the robots until he gets better control over his power. So far, Izuku has seen every robot type, and destroyed a lot of them. He runs through the city, destroying robots and counting his points. ‘78, 81, 82, 84” He mumbles, before noticing someone calling for help. He speeds over to them, and notices that it is a blonde boy with a belt around his midsection. Izuku sees the 2 and 3 pointer robots attempting to crush the boy, and has an idea. Instead of punching, he curls his fingers back into a flick.
Just as the 3-Pointer was about to blast the blonde, Izuku released the flick. The power channeled into a thinner area than the punch, smashing into both robots, and obliterating them. The robots pretty much vaporized, however the buildings on either side of him, and the blonde boy were not affected beyond rattled windows and ruffled hair. The boy stared in shock at the power “C’est magnifique! Your strength reminds me of All Might!” The boy seems extremely happy about that, and introduces himself as Aoyama Yuga. Aoyama thanks him, then runs off with a slight limp, and a hand around his stomach.
Izuku smiles to himself, before hearing another examinee struggling, and runs off. A couple minutes later, Izuku is at 175 points, but he is most happy that he saved other examinees. Present Mic’s voice screams through the zone “2 MINUTES LEFT” before a rumbling could be felt that knocked some of the examinees on their asses. Izuku sprints off, seeing an examinee about to be crushed by a falling 1-Pointer. The 1-Pointer was easily destroyed with a flick, and the examinee saved. He looks at the examinee, an invisible girl and his brain stutters when he feels bare skin on his chest. His face turns red when he realizes that she is naked; She must be to use her invisibility to its fullest but that doesn’t help his teenager hormones from imagining the rest.
Izuku puts her down before asking if she was OK. She answers affirmatively, before teasing him about his blushing face, and jogging away. Just then, another rumble shakes the ground. He hears the girl fall over, before a shadow blots out the sun. Izuku looks up to see a massive robot the size of a 10 story building bring its foot down. Another tremor runs throughout the site, as he hears the invisible girl behind him fall again. He decides to pick her up, and move her out of the path of the massive robot that could only be the 0-Pointer. He jogs over, and asks if he could move her to a safer location. “Sure, that would be nice” she says with a tremor in her voice. He picks her up and shoots away. “My name’s Toru, Toru Hagakure, thank you, Hero.” she says with a tone of voice that Izuku can’t place. He responds “I’m Izuku Midoriya, I hope to see you in the hero course!”
As he places her down, she thanks him and he turns back to the 0-Pointer. He jogs back, and looks up at it. Its hand comes down on a building and concrete and rubble shower the street below. He cocks his hand back, ready to blow the robot away, when he hears a voice. It’s faint, but it calls for help. He lets his hand fall, and bends his knees, pinpointing the direction of the voice. As he runs over, he sees the girl that saved him and that he was planning on talking to trapped under a black of concrete that pinned her leg. She spots him and her eyes light up. “Can you help me? My leg was trapped under this block, and I can’t get my hands up to float it.” He walks over and reaches under the block with one hand. She looks at him skeptically until with a grunt, he lifts the block over his head, and throws it at the 0-pointer’s arms that were coming down on them.
The block destroys the hand, and and shoulder of the robot, causing it to stumble back from the energy transferred from the concrete. She stares in shock, her jaw on the floor. Izuku asks “Are you OK? Can you walk?” She shakes her head, with a whimper “I think it broke my leg, I can’t move.” Izuku considers this, and looks up at the 0-Pointer with a determined look. He bends his knees, and shoots off from the ground, rocking the robot and turning the rubble around the two hero-examinees to ash and dust.
The shockwave from the jump blasts the dust away from the epicenter, as Izuku soars upwards, missing the 0-Pointer and shooting high into the sky. He rights himself and orients his body so that his arm and hand are pointed towards the top of the massive robot. He curls his middle finger into a flick, and releases. A wave of air pressure shoots out, striking the 0-Pointer in the head and cleaving the robot in two. As the robot explodes, Izuku mimics All Might and kicks off the air and streaks straight down. He lands in the wreckage of the robot, and calls out for the girl.
She responds and he rushes over. She lies in a clear patch, where the rubble and dust was blown away by Izuku’s jump. Izuku jumped when Present Mic called the end to the exam, and that Recovery Girl would be coming around to heal the injured. Izuku kneels beside the girl and scans her for any other injuries besides her broken leg. She coughs and says “I’m alright, just a little tired; and my leg hurts. Thank you for saving me, I’m Ochako, Ochako Uraraka!” Izuku smiles. She's cute …he blinks and shakes his head to clear that thought. “I- I’m Izuku, Izuku Midoriya, nice to meet you” Uraraka laughs “Good day to you, too sir” They both start laughing, Izuku wonders why? Maybe the joke was that funny, or maybe it’s just the adrenaline.
As they are laughing, Izuku gets hit over the head with a cane. “AH” he screams, startled and a bit hurt. He and Uraraka turn to see a small lady wearing a hero costume. “You’re Recovery Girl, U.A’s nurse and one of the best healing quirks ever!” He starts to ramble about her, her quirk and skill as a doctor and as a Hero. Uraraka stares, gobsmacked. She just couldn’t compare the boy that one-shot the 0-Pointer and, from what she heard and saw, saved pretty much half the examinees at one point or another in the exam, to this nerdy boy that is rambling about Hero facts. Recovery Girl bonks him on the head again with the cane, this time gentler, and tells him to knock it off, as she doesn’t have all day in a playful tone that makes it easy to realize that she is teasing him.
Izuku shuts up and apologizes, but Recovery Girl waves it off and asks if the two are injured. Izuku responds in the negative, but Uraraka tells the Hero that she has a broken leg, and a bit of a stomach ache, so Recovery Girl uses her quirk and heals her. She falls back, exhausted, but Izuku catches her before she could fall over. Recovery Girl hands them both some gummies and tells them that they will recover some of the lost energy that they expended on the exam, then turns to walk away. She calls over her shoulder “Midoriya, Nezu and Yagi want to talk with you after, so come by Nezu’s office as soon as you can.” Izuku’s eyes widen and he chokes on the air. Uraraka moves to support him, but he waves her off with an “I’m fine, thank you.” The two exchange contacts, just in case they both happen to make it into U.A, which Izuku is confident they will. Then, Uraraka leaves to go celebrate, and Izuku makes his way to Nezu’s office.

Chapter 3: Explanations
As Izuku walks up to the Principal’s door, it swings open automatically, making Izuku falls back into a combat stance, ready to move if necessary. Inside the office, he could hear Nezu’s laugh at his reaction. Once he realizes that there is no threat, he relaxes and rubs the back of his head sheepishly. Izuku walks into the office and scans the room. Nezu, All Might and Recovery Girl sit around a table, with a fourth chair set up for him. “Welcome, Mr. Midoriya. I’ve heard a lot about you and I must say, your exam performance was exceptional.” Nezu greets, waving his hand towards the empty seat.
As Izuku sits down, he looks to All Might and attempts to communicate through his eyes. Do they know about One For All? All Might powers down as a response. Izuku stiffens, then relaxes when he realizes what his response meant. “So, One For All. I assume that the power you used was 100%, when we thought you’d only be able to use around 5% when you first received it.” Nezu starts the conversation by getting straight to the point.
“It was. I first accessed it after the written exam, I asked to go to the bathroom, and I attempted to use a small portion of One For All, but this happened.” Izuku responded. He raised his hand, and summoned a tendril of Blackwhip to curl around a cup on Nezu’s desk. All might a Recovery Girl jolted in shock, while the corner of Nezu’s mouth just quirked up in a vague interpretation of a smile. “W-What is that?” All Might managed to choke out after a minute of him coughing on blood. “Blackwhip, the 5th user of One For All’s quirk.”
Izuku stood up after getting a nonverbal confirmation from Nezu that he could show off 100% of One For All. All Might and Recovery Girl looked at him as he pulled his arms against his side with his forearms out, like an old anime protagonist. He grunted as his hair began to rise and green electricity spiked around him. He screamed before cutting himself off as a green aura full of power exploded off of him. With a rush of wind, every object in Nezu’s office, plus the three Heroes, goes flying away from him. There are three grunts as they impact various walls of the office. As the viridian light fades, the three Heroes look up at Izuku from where they are lying against the wall. All Might's eyes widen as he sees 100% of One For All for the first time manifesting in that way.
Recovery Girl slowly stands up and walks over to poke at one of the six Blackwhip strands that appear to be attached to Izuku’s back like a ribcage, almost folded around his body. Nezu’s eyes narrow as he notices that Izuku is taller than he appears to be, almost like either the quirk made him grow when used at full power, or that he’s floating.
The Blackwhip strands opened up to reveal Izuku hovering half a foot off the ground, his eyes a piercing green that seems to light up the already brightened office. All Might gasped “Nana.” Izuku looked down and made a choking noise as he realized that he was floating. “How. How is this possible?” Recovery Girl said, amazed.
She realized that somehow, the Ninth holder managed to manifest the other user’s quirks; she saw Blackwhip, but held out her suspicions until she saw another quirk. Izuku sank down to the ground, and the Blackwhip strands dissipated. His eyes faded back to their original bright green and he blinked a few times. “The Ninth holder wants to talk to you three,” Izuku said. The three Heroes looked at him, confused until a bright flash lit up the room. A powerful presence appeared in the room, and even though they couldn’t see, the three Heroes prepared to battle. All Might inflated, Nezu’s nails elongated, his hair stood on end and he crouched down, and Recovery Girl backed up, and held her cane like a bat.
As the light disappeared, the Heroes looked on, at the center of the room, two Izukus stood. Current-Izuku took a step back, but smiled. The other Izuku turned to look at the three Heroes, and their mouths fell open. The vestige looked just like Izuku, just older, and with a lot of scars all along his arms and neck. “Who are you?’ Nezu asked, a full grin on his face, seemingly having realized who and what the vestige is. All Might and Recovery Girl glanced at Nezu and shivered. “I am the Ninth holder of One For All, and my name is Izuku Midoriya”
Vestige-Izuku then began to tell his story, and how he came to be a vestige. He explained how he met All Might, and how he saved Bakugou. He explained how he trained for 10 months at Dagobah, and received One For All. He told the story of his entrance exam, and how he shattered three of his limbs to save one girl and to destroy the 0-pointer. He exposed Aizawa’s logical ruse and his quirk examination on the first day of U.A. He explained what would happen on the second day of classes, and how someone would steal a class planner. He told them of the USJ and the pitch-black Nomu; the injuries it inflicted on the class.
Nezu’s eyes hardened as he heard what would happen on the second day, and internally vowed to place cameras on the outside of the gates, to not let the media close to the gates, and to keep a teacher on watch in the staff room. All Might’s eyes widened as he heard the description of the Nomu, and ground his teeth together as he put together who was responsible. As Vestige-Izuku spoke, the Heroes’ fists tightened, and Current-Izuku was trembling in shock, and fear.
He continued with the description of the Sports Festival, he skimmed over most of it, but highlighted his battle with the youngest Todoroki. He told Nezu of the abuse Todoroki was subjected to by Endeavour, and how he fought to break Todoroki out of his hatred. He traced some of the scars on his arms and told the story of how he shattered his fingers and arms over and over again to get Todoroki to use his fire.
Vestige-Izuku skipped to the Internships, and described how Ingenium was paralyzed by Stain, and how his younger brother attempted to avenge him. He told of the Attack on Hosu, where some Nomu were released on the same night as Stain’s battle with the three Hero students. Vestige-Izuku talked about his internship with Gran Torino, and how Full Cowling came to be. He told of how he got to Hosu, and his battle with Stain alongside Iida and Todoroki.
After that, he gave the Heroes and Current-Izuku a break to digest what he said. Nezu was pacing behind his desk, tail lashing around. All Might was taking deep breaths, trying to calm himself after the revelation that All For One was back, and that he was causing all that devastation. Recovery Girl’s eyes narrowed at Current-Izuku and warned him to not break any bones while using One For All. Vestige-Izuku clarified that since now that he has access to One For All’s full power and all of the previous quirks of the past holders, he will never break a bone using One For All ever.
Both Recovery Girl and Current-Izuku sighed in relief and Vestige-Izuku laughed. After a five minute break, Vestige-Izuku got the confirmation that everyone was ready for him to continue. He continued recounting the past by telling Nezu that the final exams were next, and that he would not divulge the exam. Nezu laughed and thanked him, saying that the exam will remain the same. Vestige-Izuku started again with the Kyoshi Ward Mall, and the encounter with Shigaraki.
He described how Shigaraki wanted answers to a question that he had; “Why are people focusing on Stain and not the Nomu after Hosu?” He said that Shigaraki got the wrong message out of it, and that he blamed the state of society on All Might. Everyone in the room held their breaths, waiting to hear what Shigaraki would do after he drew his conclusion. “Then, he just walked away, he seemed content with his conclusion and what he had to do.”
“Next up is the summer training camp, led by the Wild Wild Pussycats. How you got to the camp will remain a secret, however on the third night, as classes A and B were winding down from a day of intense training by playing a game of courage, where class B positioned themselves in the forest, and class A had to walk a path through the forest, while not getting scared by class B. In the middle of the game, the League of Villains attacks. A few of their members, Spinner, Himiko Toga, Twice, Magne, Dabi, Mr. Compress, Muscular and Moonfish, along with a Nomu, call themselves the Vanguard Action Squad. Their goal was to kidnap Katsuki Bakugo in order to convince him to join them in villainy.
Muscular attacks one of the Pussycat’s nephew, Kota, but is defeated by me when I broke both my arms using a “1,000,000%” Smash. Magne and Spinner take on 3 of the Pussycats, defeating Pixie Bob before being told to retreat. Moonfish is taken out by a rampaging sentient quirk called Dark Shadow, and six students including me and Bakugo attempt to make our way back to camp. However, before we could get back, Bakugo and another student, the one with the sentient quirk are captured by Mr. Compress, who can shrink things into marbles. We pursue them, but Bakugo is captured and the villains escape”.
Vestige-Izuku retells the entire series of events, and everyone’s jaws are on the floor. They’re all thinking how it was impossible for villains to find the camp, since no one but Nezu currently knows the location. Current-Izuku has tears in his eyes “They took Kacchan; please tell me you got him back.” Vestige-Izuku assures them that they did, but the events in which they did weren’t pretty.
Vestige-Izuku gives them another five minute break, in which Nezu sends an email to the Pussycats to beef up security and secrecy for this summer’s First Year Training Camp. All Might tenses, knowing that since the League kidnapped this “Bakugo”, and that there were Nomu at the camp, then All for One was involved. Recovery Girl pulled All Might aside to talk about the possibility of him facing All For One again after the events of the training camp. Current-Izuku talks with the vestiges about One For All, and confirms that the other Holder’s quirks will develop, as he is already planning how to deal with the events that have been discussed.
After All Might and Recovery Girl finish their discussion, and Nezu sends his emails, Vestige-Izuku calls them back to attention. “I will now recount the events of Kamino Ward, and the fall of the Symbol of Peace, but also the fall of the Symbol of Evil.” Everyone tenses at this information, and All Might grimaces as this confirms his fears. As Vestige-Izuku gets the green light to start talking, everyone leans in and focuses completely on him.
“After the events of the Training Camp, two of the students managed to place a tracker on the Nomu before it retreated, and the heroes were mounting an assault. However, five students, including me, got the student that made the tracker to produce another signal reader, as we planned to rescue Bakugo ourselves.” Recovery Girl smacked Current-Izuku over the head with her cane. “WHY ME?” He exclaimed, rubbing his head. “I can’t hit Vestige-You, so I had to settle for the next best thing. If you go to rescue him when these events happen, I swear I will find a way to convince Nezu to expel you.”
Recovery Girl scolded, rightfully pissed. After Current-Izuku promised not to, she signalled for Vestige-Izuku to continue. “The tracker led to a warehouse and bar in Kamino Ward, and as a press conference was called to distract the villains, the heroes struck, seemingly capturing the bar and warehouse, saving Bakugo. However, the villains and Bakugo were warped away, to the warehouse, as the team that assaulted the warehouse, that included Mt. Lady, Best Jeanist and a lot of policemen all went dark.” All Might closed and squeezed his fists, That could only mean one thing.
"All for One emerged from the shadows in the warehouse, and beat Mt. Lady and Best Jeanist in less than 10 seconds, leaving a massive hole in Best Jeanists stomach. We- meaning the five students that went to rescue Bakugo were near the warehouse when he emerged, and couldn’t do anything as his presence was asserting an aura on everyone in the area. All Might came down from the sky and punched All For One, but he caught it and taunted him. A massive fight ensued, one that destroyed an eighth of Kamino Ward. The League escaped in the chaos, and Bakugo managed to escape as well, with the help of the students that came to rescue him.”
“At the end of the fight, All Might’s true form was revealed as he ran out of embers. Before that happened, he managed to put down All For One using a United States of Smash. As All Might and All For One fought, All For One revealed Shigaraki’s true identity.” He paused for a few seconds and looked at Nana. “Tomura Shigaraki was Tenko Shimura.” A flash of purple light made everyone in the room except for Vestige-Izuku close their eyes. When it faded, the form of the Seventh Holder of One for All, Nana Shimura was revealed.
She was crying with her head in her hands. All Might flinched at the reveal, and when Nana emerged, he went to comfort her. Recovery Girl and Nezu both were saddened to hear the reveal, as well as Nana’s state. Recovery Girl went to talk to the holders of One For All as Nezu made plans for a villain rehabilitation program. Current-Izuku talked with the past holders about Nana and what Tenko being Shigaraki meant. Eventually Nana was able to reel her emotions in, although she was still sad, she would grieve later, after Vestige-Izuku finished recounting his past, or their future? However that worked.
All Might and Recovery Girl straightened up, and demanded to know what else happened. Nezu asked as well, as any future events known are future events that can be changed. Vestige-Izuku continued after everyone was settled and ready. Vestige-Izuku told them that he was nearing the end of the events that he would tell them, as the information that they have now should be enough to change the future so that they don’t happen. Nezu questioned if the events came to pass anyways, would he tell them more of the future. Vestige-Izuku responded that he would. He finished up the events of Kamino Ward.
“After All For One’s defeat and the reveal of All Might’s true form, Japan was in shock, however the reconstruction and rescue efforts began. At U.A, a dorm system was approved, and the week after Kamino, all of class 1-A moved into their dorms. The fallout from All Might’s retirement was intense, with Endeavour becoming the Number One, the public’s trust in heroes began to dwindle. The media helped stoke the fire by posting clickbait and fear-inducing articles and videos, stirring the villains up and bolstering their confidence now that the Symbol of Peace was gone.
This is where I will end the story for now, as wit the precautions that you have and will set in place, as well as the 10th holder’s power will now render most of the events and information obsolete, but it’s better to be over prepared than under, so we should make plans expecting the future that I just described.” Nezu nodded and said that he would work on making sure that future never came to pass.
Current-Izuku’s stomach rumbled, and they checked the clock. “6:30PM!? We lost track of time, mom’s gonna be so worried!” Current-Izuku exclaimed. All Might chuckled, still reeling from the events and information that he heard. “If that is all, then you may be dismissed. Go get something to eat, and go home. I need to plan countermeasures.” Nezu dismissed them. “And Midoriya? We will not let anything like that happen, so don’t worry.” Current-Izuku thanked Nezu, as the vestiges faded back into the vestige realm and he walked out of the doors.
Izuku checked his phone.
7 missed calls from: Mom, 29 missed texts from: Mom, 3 missed texts from: Uraraka.
He paled “I am so screwed” he said as he began to power-walk out of U.A.

Chapter Text
Chapter 4: However, some events remain the same:
[Timeskip: 1 week]
It has been a week since the entrance exam, since Izuku unlocked his quirk, and through the help of his Vestige-self, was able to utilize 100% of One For All’s immense powerset, including the quirks of the past users. Every night the past users have been telling Izuku about themselves, their quirks and how to use them, and during the day, he was at Dagobah Beach, training the quirks of the past users that wouldn’t get him in trouble, or would be easy to hide. He worked on Gearshift and Fa Jin mostly, as Vestige-Izuku told him that those two quirks would allow him to push beyond 100% if ever required. Even after a week full of practice, Izuku still isn’t all that confident in his ability to use gearshift. The vestiges still haven't broken him out of his overthinking mindset, so he tends to overanalyze a situation and mistime Gearshift, and more often that not, run into walls, fall over, or on one occasion, overshot his target and end up in the water. The Vestiges spent a while laughing at him for that.
He was currently in his room, having a mental conversation with the Vestiges about U.A and what will or might not happen in the first month. They discuss the USJ and the Nomu, what quirks it had(s), how he should fight it while defending his classmates and preventing Kurogiri from enacting the Villain’s plans. Suddenly, there was a knock on his bedroom door, and he heard his mother call out “IT’S HERE, IZUKU! THE LETTER FROM U.A!” He blinks a few times to fully clear his head as he gets up from his bed. He opens his door to find his mother just outside, holding a letter with the U.A symbol on it. He smiles and grabs the letter from his mother “Can I open this privately, I’ll tell you if I get in.” His mother sighs, “Alright, I love you.” Izuku thanks her and retreats back into his room and shuts the door. He tilts his head, feeling that the envelope is weighted on one side. He opens it and a hologram disc falls out. He startles at the loud noise of the disc hitting his desk, and sits down at his desk after recovering.
The disc lights up and a hologram projects out of it. All Might’s voice booms out from the disc. Hello Young Midoriya, it has been a hectic week and I am sorry that I have not been able to talk to you recently but- hurry it up? Why? I HAVE TO DO HOW MANY OF THESE!? Hm. Well, Young Midoriya, you excelled in the written test, with a 93%, which was among the highest of the exam takers. However, your practical exam is where you truly shined. With a total of 186 villain points, you smashed the competition, went beyond and placed first in the practicals. But that’s not all. What kind of Hero School would U.A be if we didn’t mention the whole point of the school, saving people. There was a secret, second point system called Rescue Points; and once again, you had the most. We reviewed your footage, and came to the conclusion that you deserve 80 Rescue Points, for saving pretty much everyone you came across. Overall, you earned 266 points and dominated the competition. Well, Young Midoriya, you qualify for U.A’s Hero Program; so come, this is your Hero Academia!
He began to tear up. I- I did it! I made it in, everyone who said I couldn’t was wrong. I am not useless anymore! The disc flashed before displaying the top 10 finishers in the practical exam:
1: Midoriya Izuku; 186 Villain Points, 80 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 266
2: Bakugo Katsuki; 96 Villain Points, 0 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 96
3: Kirishima Eijiro; 37 Villain Points, 45 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 82
4: Kendo Itsuka; 48 Villain Points, 28 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 76
5: Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu; 50 Villain Points, 21 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 71
6: Shiozaki Ibara; 24 Villain Points, 43 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 67
7: Uraraka Ochako; 33 Villain Points, 26 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 59
8: Iida Tenya; 44 Villain Points, 12 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 56
9: Asui Tsuyu; 40 Villain Points, 10 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 50
10: Hiriyu Rin; 38 Villain Points, 11 Rescue Points. Overall Score: 49
That’s… A massive gap between me and second place. Second place is Kacchan. I am so screwed. Izuku put his head in his hands and groaned. He jumped as a voice spoke in his head. 266 points!? Damn. During my entrance exam, I only scored 60, and they were all rescue points. It certainly helps to have 9 ghosts in your head and a power greater than All Might’s. Vestige-Izuku muses, Current-Izuku’s eyes widen.
You only got 60 points? You had One For All then too right? I did have One For All, however I couldn’t use it like you can. I put 100% of its power in one limb, and even though it was much weaker than it is now, defeating the 0-Pointer to save a girl broke 3 of my limbs. current-Izuku was left speechless. “So that’s what he meant yesterday by ‘Breaking my bones’ Hm, well I’m glad that I don't have to do that”. He asked a question that had been taking form in his mind since he first accessed 100% of his power and his Vestige self was shocked.
“How am I even able to use it perfectly? You said it was stronger than when you had it, and it destroyed your body”. He could hear Vestige-Izuku humming as he tried to put into words what he and the other Vestiges had hypothesized. Well, you know that One For All stockpiles quirks as well, you got something from everyone. The 1st through 7th’s quirks and All Might’s all around enhancement. However, I was quirkless and didn’t have One For All long enough to really build on the stockpile. So, we hypothesize that what you got from me was the ability to use One For All and all the previous holder’s quirks. I am not exactly sure how, but it seems the most likely explanation at this point.
Current-Izuku hums. So you’re the reason I can do all of this? Thank you. I don’t know if I could have made it otherwise . He feels a sense of pride coming from his Vestige self before he speaks up. You’re welcome, however I know you would have found a way regardless of what happened with One For All. So, now there are two weeks until your first day. What’re you going to do? Current-Izuku smiles “Well, I wanted to master Gearshift if nothing else; I have a feeling that it will come in useful”. Have fun, and good luck. Me and the other Vestiges still have things to talk about, some that we will tell you, and others that we will tell you in time, as they might not be relevant anymore.
Izuku thanks his Vestige-self as he feels him fade away from the front of his mind. He stands up and stretches, before opening the door only to be met with a fierce hug from his mother. “You got in, I’m so proud of you! I made katsudon in celebration”. His mom pulls him towards the table and he inhales the heavenly scent of his favourite dish. Hm, I can’t wait to see what the future holds, even though Vestige-me said it would be full of battles and struggles, I can’t help but feel excited for it. Izuku thought with a smile on his face as he bit into a piece of pork. Even if the future is scary, I can take it. I will become the Number One Hero, and a symbol like All Might, so come on future, bring it!
The two weeks that were left passed quickly, with Izuku training and mastering Gearshift, then moving on to Float. Dagobah was still relatively unvisited, so he got to practice flying from one side of the beach to the other; a distance of almost 1 kilometer. Izuku struggled a bit at first, randomly accelerating and stopping when he didn’t want to, but with the Vestiges’ assistance, by the time it was time to go to U.A, he had mastered 3 out of the 6 quirks in One For All.
Eventually, the day came when he would make his « Hero Student Debut » and start his journey to become the world’s second greatest hero (he still thinks that All Might will still have been better than him). He woke up after pep talks and some last minute advice from the vestiges, and excitedly prepared for his first day. He had a spring in his step as he said goodbye to his mother, as she commented on how cool and confident he looked.
On the train to U.A, he asked his Vestige-self if he could tell him what would happen. Hmhmhm, even though I already went through this, I still want your first day to be a surprise. It’s nice to see your genuine reactions to things. Fair enough , he thought, I guess I’ll go in blind then . He walked through U.A’s halls after arriving, completely lost. Why is this school so big?? I’m so lost right now. Luckily, he managed to find a faculty member that pointed him in the right direction, and after a few more minutes of walking, he found the door to his class.
Class 1-A huh. Why is the door so big? Is it to accommodate some of the larger students? Or it might just be a power play, to show that U.A is more powerful than we thought? It might be a mix of both of- Huh? He turns around when he feels a tap on his right shoulder. “Are you gonna go in or keep mumbling to yourself?” a voice says, with a touch of amusement. Izuku blinks to clear his mumble-addled brain to see a girl with short purple hair and what appear to be cords connected to metal protrusions on the ends. He apologizes; “O-oh, sorry. I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings.” The girl snorts “Yeah, that’s for sure. Are you trying to figure out what the big door means? I’d assume that it was for bigger students, but who knows?”
Izuku smiles and introduces himself. “Izuku Midoriya, nice to meet you, the name’s Jiro, Kyouka Jiro. Now are we just gonna stand here, or can we go inside?” Izuku jolts, just now realizing that they’re just standing outside of the door. “Y-yeah, lets go” he confirms, before opening the door. He allows Jiro to pass before jumping as he hears two voices call out to him. “DEKU? THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?” the voice of his childhood ‘friend’ screams at him. The other voice, coming from a tall boy with dark blue hair and glasses, draws closer. “Ah, hello there. My name is Iida Tenya, and I am from Somei Academy.” Izuku’s eyes widen as he processes what Iida is saying. So loud, and straightforward .
“My name is Midoriya, Izuku Midoriya. Nice to meet you!” Iida’s mouth falls open as he chokes on his saliva “Y-you’re the first place finisher with over 250 points. I am honoured to stand in the same class as you” Iida says as he bows at the waist. The sounds of conversation across the class stop in an instant. Every head turns to look at the person that got over 2 times the amount of points that second place scored. Izuku pales. Bakugo’s voice echoes off the walls as he screams “DEKU, WHAT THE HELL. YOU’VE BEEN LYING TO ME THIS ENTIRE TIME. YOU HAD A QUIRK, AND REFUSED TO SHOW IT, YOU BASTARD.”
His palms light up as he charges at Izuku. He sees this and recognizes Bakugo’s signature right hook coming from a mile away as he telegraphs his punch. Without even using his quirk, Izuku ducks under the hook, and then steps back to avoid the backhand that Bakugo reversed the hook punch into. Bakugo roared as he saw that he hadn’t connected yet, and went to brace his right wrist for a massive explosion. As he was about to fire, his palm fizzled out and his head snapped up. Within an instant, he was ensnared within a gray soft-but-hard scarf.
“WHAT THE FUCK?” He questioned, as his eyes met a pair of glowing red, bloodshot ones. “That’s enough.” The man said, as Bakugo struggled to escape. “Stop. You’re giving me dry eyes.” The man said, stepping into the classroom. Off to the side, Izuku noted the appearance of the man, as well as his quirk. “YOU’RE ERASERHEAD, AN AMAZING UNDERGROUND HERO” Izuku shouted, unable to contain his excitement at meeting the elusive pro hero. Eraserhead ignores this statement in favour of glaring at a struggling Bakugo. “This is my capture weapon. It is made from a special fabric that you will not be able to escape from, so sit down, and stop. struggling.”
He finally stops moving, and Eraserhead releases him from the capture weapon. Bakugo turns away with a huff. “No matter what your quirk is, Deku, I am still better than you” he says as he sits at his desk. Eraserhead makes his way to the front of the classroom and stands behind his desk, and Izuku sits down at his desk. “My name is Shota Aizawa, but you will all call me ‘Mr. Aizawa’, am I understood?” The class all agreed “YES SIR.”
.”I will now do the attendance, say ‘Here’ and raise your hand when I call your name” Aizawa says with a monotone voice. “Aoyama, Yuga?” he calls “Bonjour!” a blonde boy that seemed to sparkle with an extravagant light said as he raised his hand. “Ashido, Mina?” “Here!” a pink-skinned girl called out. “Asui, Tsuyu?” “Here, ribbit” a girl with long brown hair and the features of a frog said. “Iida, Tenya?” “Present, sir” he says, waving his straight arm in the air. “Uraraka, Ochako?” “Here!” she says. “Ojiro, Mashirao?” Aizawa continues. “Here.” a boy with a long, thick tail raises a hand.
“Kaminari, Denki. Eijiro Kirishima. Koda, Koji?” Aizawa rapid fires as the three boys raise their hands. One with blonde hair and a black lightning bolt on the front, one with spiky, red hair and the other with a peach-coloured protrusion on his skull. “Sato, Rikido. Shoji, Mezo and Jiro, Kyouka?” Aizawa says three names in one go again. A boy with big, puffy lips and a big frame, a boy with six appendages and a dark blue mask, and a short girl with violet hair and jacks attached to her earlobes all raise their hands.
“We don’t have much time left, so I’ll rapid-fire these last names” Aizawa drawls. Sero, Hanta. Tokoyami, Fumikage. Todoroki, Shoto?” The three raise their hands, one with tape dispensers on his elbows and a grin on his face, one with the head of a crow and pitch-black feathers, and one with red and white hair and a burn scar over his right eye.
“Hagakure, Toru. Bakugo, Katsuki. Izuku Midoriya. Mineta, Minoru. Yaoyorozu, Momo. All six of the remaining class raise their hands. An invisible girl, a blonde with explosions popping in his hands, a plain boy with green hair, a short boy with purple orbs for hair, and a girl with long, black hair and a considerable chest.
He reaches behind his desk and pulls out P.E uniforms “Now, put these on and go to the field outside. Take more than 15 minutes and I’ll give you detention.” There is a resounding “YES SIR” from the class as they make their way to the front to grab their P.E uniforms and head to the changing rooms.
In the male changing room, all of the boys in class 1-A were pestering Izuku about his quirk and his record-breaking exam. “Hey Midoriya, what is your quirk? I heard from someone that was in your sector that you saved them, and obliterated every single robot while doing it.” Kaminari said with an awe-struck voice. For everyone else, they’d only heard rumours about the boys that destroyed the exam while saving as many people as he could. “W-Well my quirk is a total body enhancement that produces green lighting as the power is too much to contain within my body”. The boys lightheartedly complained about his quirk being overpowered as they finished changing and exited the changing room.
In the girls changing room, the conversation also focused around quirks, as the girls discussed their quirks, and the quirks of the two boys that nearly fought in the classroom. “Huh, so we have some solid quirks. No matter what Mr Aizawa throws at us, we’ll be fine!” Ashido said excitedly. “Hmm, I don’t know. Mr Aizawa seems pretty strict. And his quirk actually erases others’ quirks, he’s basically our counter.” Yaoyorozu said, giving the girls something to think about. “He completely stopped the fight between Midoriya and Bomb-Blondie, and they were the 1st and 2nd place finishers in the entrance exam!” Hagakure exclaimed. “Well, Midoriya wasn't trying to fight back, and actually looked alarmed at ‘Bomb-Blondie’s aggression,” Uraraka said as she put on her uniform. “True, true” The invisible girl said as the girls finished changing and made their way to the field.
“Well now that you are all here, we will be doing a quirk assessment test, where there will be a series of 8 events that you will have to compete in.” Mr Aizawa announced, catching everyone’s attention. “So we can use our quirks however we want?” Kaminari said, getting the whole class riled up. “Woo hoo! This’ll be fun!” Ashido exclaimed, jumping up and down. “Fun, you say? This isn’t supposed to be fun, this is supposed to judge your potential as heroes-in-training. If you still think this is fun, then how about this? The person that comes last after all 8 events are done will be expelled.” Aizawa said in a monotone voice, only showing a bit of emotion when seemingly bashing the pink-skinned girl for what she said.
The class exploded with noise. Students started to yell over one another and panic at the thought of being expelled on their first day. “Enough.” Aizawa says, enunciating his command by activating his quirk, causing his hair to start floating and his eyes to glow red. The class shut up instantly, their teacher having struck the fear of god into them. “Now, for the first test, the ball throw. Midoriya, how far could you throw the ball in middle school?” Aizawa asked while throwing a mechanical ball to Izuku.
“A-about 46 or so meters, sir” Izuku answers, stuttering as he is put on the spot. “I know that no middle school allows quirk usage when performing physical activity, which is stupid, so now throw the ball using your quirk. Stand inside this circle and anything goes as long as you don’t leave it.” Alright, time to ace this! Izuku thinks as he powers up to 100%. A strong gust of wind buffets his classmates and teacher, as a pressure nearly forces them to their knees. Izuku winds up, getting into a pitcher’s stance with his right arm pulled back and right knee pulled up.
He slams his foot down, twists his hips, locks his core and swings his arm forwards. The ball releases with a sonic boom immediately after leaving his hand. Everyone is blasted off their feet, landing on their butts and covering their ears. Izuku powers down and runs over to start helping people to their feet. Aizawa was the only one to not get sent to the ground, but he was rendered speechless by the sheer power of the throw. The tracker that Aizawa uses to track the distance of the trow beeped and showed a sideways 8. Infinity. As soon as the class was back on their feet, they noticed the distance and freaked out. “INFINITY??” The class shouted, their jaws dropping. Bakugo didn’t even try to attack Izuku, he was too busy trying to restart his brain due to the power that “Shitty Deku” just displayed.
“Well, class. This is the type of power that you are going to be competing against. Go beyond. Plus Ultra.” Aizawa says. The class’ only had a single thought run through most of their heads ‘ We’re fucked’. This begins the assessment test, and the next event is the 100-meter dash. “Iida, Bakugo.” Aizawa calls up, and the two get ready to race. Iida’s legs start to rumble and flames shoot from the exhaust pipes on his legs. Bakugo’s hands start to crackle, as he bends down into a sprinter’s stance with his arms straight out behind him. “GO.” Aizawa commands, and the two boys shoot off. Iida comes in first with a time of 3.04 seconds and Bakugo finishes slightly above that at 4.13 seconds.
Bakugo starts to rage. “HOW COULD A SHITTY EXTRA LIKE YOU BEAT ME. IT’S BAD ENOUGH THAT FUCKING DEKU WAS ABLE TO BEAT ME, AND NOW- I WON’T LOSE ANOTHER EVENT, DAMN YOU!” Jiro and Shoji covered their ears, as their sensitive hearing did not mesh well with the explosive blonde’s temper, or attitude in general. When Izuku completed the event, with a time of less than half of a second, Bakugo couldn’t even say anything, as no one but Aizawa saw him move, and only as a bright green blur. This trend continued throughout the assessment, with each event having Izuku come in first except for the seated toe touch, where the girls, especially Ashido dominated.
When every event concluded, Aizawa showed the class the rankings. In first place was Izuku Midoriya, to no one’s surprise. In second was Momo Yaoyorozu, third was Shoto Todoroki, fourth was Katsuki Bakugo, and fifth was Iida Tenya. The rest of the class filled in behind the top finishers, the third-last going to Denki Kaminari, second-last going to Toru Hagakure and last place going to Minoru Mineta.
“NOOOOOOOO!” Mineta screamed, falling to his knees dramatically. Half of the class looked at him sympathetically, while the other half, which were mainly girls, looked at him with disgust, as they caught him peeking at them and making lewd comments that bordered on sexual harassment. “Actually, no one is getting expelled, it was a logical ruse meant to bring out 100% of everyone’s effort.” Aizawa smirks. The class collectively sighs in relief as only one person wasn’t nervous. Yaoyorozu stated that she thought that it being a logical ruse was obvious and that she thought that everyone knew that.
After the assessment ended, the class got changed back into their school uniforms, then collected the syllabus from their desks. The bell rang, signifying the end of the first day at U.A and Izuku made his way to the train station, eager to tell his mom all about his day. As he was exiting the school, two people called his name. He turned to find Uraraka and Iida walking towards him. “Hello, Uraraka, Iida.” Izuku said, raising his arm to wave at them.
“Hi Midoriya! Today was super intense!” Uraraka exclaimed. “I agree, Mr Aizawa’s teaching method is unorthodox and harsh, but I find it to be effective, as I gave 100% of my efforts during the assessment, like he wanted.” Iida comments. They continue to walk and talk about the past day, and their classmates “Hey, Midoriya? Why does Bakugo call you Deku?” Uraraka asked, tilting her head to the side. “Well, he calls me that to insult me, and Deku is a way to read my name, and it means useless, so… yeah.” Izuku responds, not expecting the question. “That is unheroic and mean. If he is aiming to become a hero, he has to have an attitude change, as the public will not like his current one.” Iida said, criticizing Bakugo’s temper.
“Deku, huh? It kind of sounds like Dekiru ‘You can do it’!” Uraraka chimed in. “It does! Well it would be nice to reclaim the name, so that whenever Kacchan calls me Deku, the effect will be negated. You can call me Deku!” “Reclaiming a cruel nickname to mean something much nicer? Now that’s heroic!” Iida chopped his arm through the air.
As Izuku enters his apartment, his mom greets him and asks how his day went. “It was amazing! All of my classmates are so cool, and their quirks are so unique.” Izuku rants, his eyes sparkling as he remembered all of his classmates and how effectively they used their quirks. “We had a quirk assessment test, and our teacher said that the person that came last would be expelled, but it was what he called a logical ruse meant to bring out all of our effort. Oh! Our homeroom teacher is Eraserhead, an amazing underground hero, he can erase other people’s quirks by looking at them. I came first in the tests, except for flexibility, which went to one of my classmates, Mina Ashido. Her quirk allows her to produce acid from her skin, it’s SO versatile! And!-” Bonk!
Izuku gasped as he looked at his mother and rubbed his head. “Hmhmhm, you were rambling again” his mom chuckled. “Well, you can tell me all about your day in more detail at dinner, now go relax!” Izuku made his way to his room and changed. After relaxing, they had dinner and he described his entire day, his classmates' quirks, and his two new friends. He went to bed hyped for the next few days and years at U.A ahead.
Chapter 5: Second Day, Part 1: Costume Changes
Summary:
A two-part chapter, with the second day going differently than in canon.
Notes:
...1 Month.
It's been one month since I posted last, and I pretty much have no excuses
I was really busy, with exams and things for my Karate dojo (an event where I did a demo, and a grading, where I also did a demo)
It's been a hectic past month, but I finally am able to get this chapter out, and it's counterpart should be posted within 2 weeks, as I have no major events to prevent me from writing.
Sorry for the wait and enjoy the chapter!
Chapter Text
The following day, the morning classes were just like normal high school classes, but with pro heroes as teachers. Their individual gimmicks and personalities made each class exciting and fun, unlike junior high. Lunch was amazing, due to the cooking of the pro hero Lunch Rush, who could make anything taste good. However, the real high point of the day was the last period, the Heroics class. There was no teacher put down for the class, so 1-A was excited to see who it could be. Could you tell me who it is? The suspense is killing me. Izuku asks his vestige self.
But what would be the fun in that? Vestige-Izuku questioned. You could probably figure it out, just think a bit. Who said they would be a teacher at U.A, but hasn’t shown up yet? Izuku thought for a bit. All Might! All Might is our Heroics teacher! Just after he figured it out, the door banged open and All Might barged in “I AM COMING INTO THE ROOM LIKE A HERO!” The class freaks out. “All Might!” The collective class yells. “Oh wow, that’s his Silver Age costume” Asui says, her eyes wide.
”HELLO. CLASS! I AM HERE, AS YOUR HEROICS TEACHER. TODAY, WE WILL FOCUS ON YOUR HERO COSTUMES AND BASIC COMBAT TRAINING. WE WILL BE REVIEWING YOUR COSTUMES AND LEARNING ABOUT WHAT MAKES A PRACTICAL AND STYLISH COSTUME! DURING THE SECOND PART OF TODAY’S CLASS, WE WILL BE INTRODUCING YOU ALL TO THE BASICS OF COMBAT! NOW, FOR ONE OF THE MAIN EVENTS OF TODAY! THAT’S RIGHT, COSTUMES!” All Might clicks a button on a remote in his hand, and 20 slots in the wall open to reveal silver cases with the numbers 1-20 on them. “HERE ARE YOUR COSTUMES! GET CHANGED AND THEN MEET ME IN GYM BETA!” All Might tells the class, and they scramble to find their cases and to run out the door, excited for their first Heroics class.
Izuku is no different. Even with 9 vestiges in his head, he is still excited to put on his costume for the first time. His mom made the base for the costume, and the vestiges added to it, and in his opinion, made it look way cooler and more practical than what he was originally going for. As he makes his way to the changerooms, he meets up with Iida and Uraraka.
As he looks at Uraraka, he feels a weird sensation in his heart and head that doesn't feel like his own emotions. He narrows his eyes as his face flushes. Those emotions were certainly… not platonic. He questions the vestiges if they knew what that feeling was. Sorry, Izuku, that was me. You know how I felt about Och-Uraraka back when I was alive, so I think a bit of my emotions leaked through to you when you saw her. Vestige-Izuku spoke into his mind, sounding remorseful. We’ll have to work on that so it doesn’t distract him in the field. Third says, looking beyond, to the rational side and bringing up a logical point. Of course, I just didn’t expect it to happen now and here. Izuku’s vestige-self tried to argue his innocence. Hmhmhmhm, no one’s blaming you for seeing your past crush, Ninth, it’s just amusing to see someone who actually won against All For One acting so flustered. Seventh teased.
“Deku?” Izuku heard a voice calling for him and he suddenly realized that he was just standing in the middle of the hallway and staring at Ochako. He shakes his head, trying to clear his mind and bring himself back to the present. “H-huh?” Izuku questions dumbly. Ochako giggles “Silly Deku, you were just standing in the middle of the hallway! At this rate, we’re gonna be late, so let’s go!” He smacks his cheeks twice to fully shake himself back. “S-sorry Och-Uraraka, you’re right. Let’s go.” The three hero students start walking again, Ochako looking at Izuku with concern in her eyes, but ultimately deciding not to bring her concerns up.
The three friends split up once they reached the changerooms, Ochako moving towards the girls’ door and Iida and Izuku moving towards the boys’. As they enter the changeroom, every face turns to look at them, most in the process of getting changed. Everyone smiles and greets the two late boys as they set their costume cases down and unlatch the seals. Izuku holds up his costume, a light green jumpsuit his mother made for him with white accents and a red belt. As he slips it on, he listens to the other boys’ conversations.
“We’re being taught by the Number One Hero himself, this is so cool!” Kaminari gushed, hyped for the lesson. “All Might is so manly! I can’t wait to get into combat training, even if it is just the basics! I’m so pumped!” Kirishima exclaims as he puts on his shirt- well what is enough of one to pass. “I’m excited for the capture and mobility training! That’s where I shine, and I would love to learn how to swing around the city without y’know, running face first into buildings!” Sero says with a big grin.
Izuku smiles as he pulls out his forearm guards, strapping them onto his arms and moving them around to test his mobility. He strapped his shin guards to his legs, and kicked the air with a couple low and high roundhouse kicks to test if they needed to be adjusted. “Yo! Looks like Midoriya’s already got the combat basics down, those were some pretty sick kicks!” Sero brings attention to his testing.
He squeaks and turns red, blushing from all of the eyes on him. Even with 9 voices in his head and confidence trained by All Might himself, there are still a lot of eyes on him and his kicks. Iida comes to his rescue by chopping his arms and saying “Everyone, Midoriya is clearly uncomfortable with all of the attention, so I will ask you all to turn away and finish changing, as All Might wouldn’t like being kept waiting.” Izuku rubbed the back of his head and laughed awkwardly as everyone agreed with Iida and turned to finish putting on their costumes. Next, Izuku pulled on his red shoes, reinforced with iron soles and caps at the front and back of his shoes, for kicks where he uses the top of his foot or his heel. He stomped a few times and jogged on the spot to get used to the extra weight and balance.
Finally, he pulled on his gloves, with knuckle padding and openings on the backs of his hands for Blackwhip to escape from. He places his metal respirator around his neck and drops the hood around the back of his neck as well. Izuku clenches a fist and throws multiple test punches and strikes to test his gloves’ padding and how they would hold up in the air. After a few jabs, crosses and palm strikes, he punches both hands together, hitting his knuckles against each other and smiles. He is finally ready to be a hero. Most of the other boys finish around the same time, except for Iida, who is putting on what appears to be a full set of armour and a couple other boys, including Kaminari, who got caught up in other conversations.
Most of the bots exit the changerooms and make their ways to Gym Beta, where All Might and some of the girls are already waiting. They walk up and join the crowd surrounding the pro hero. All Might looks around at them all, and smiles “NOT LOOKING TOO BAD, YOUNG HEROES! THERE ARE A COUPLE THINGS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO GO OVER REGARDING COSTUMES, BUT I WILL WAIT UNTIL EVERYONE GETS HERE BEFORE I START!” Everyone starts looking around at each other and their costumes. Izuku turns when he hears a voice calling out to him.
“Hey, Deku! How do I look?” Ochako walks over to Izuku stretching her costume at her sides. “I didn’t really want it to be so skintight, but I guess that’s what most modern female heroes go for.” Izuku’s mind blanks as he looks over her costume. He stutters out a few sounds as his face grows red “Th-That is a v-very… flattering c-costume.” Izuku manages to get out over his red face and blank mind. “Y-yeah, it’s pretty tight… I might change it after, it’s getting to the point where it’s kind of restrictive.” Ochako looks over Izuku’s costume. “Yours is very cool, Deku! Those arm guards look like they could hurt someone if you were to hit them!”
Izuku was about to respond while attempting to cool down his face, but was saved by the clunking of what sounded like a couple of big pieces of metal. But Izuku and Ochako look over to find a person encased in a suit of armour with exhaust pipes sticking out of his calves. “Hello Midoriya, Uraraka. I apologize for being late as my costume took a while to put on.” Iida says, as both Izuku and Ochako’s eyes widen as they recognize the person in the suit of armour.
“Iida! You look so cool!” Ochako says with excitement in her voice. Izuku nods in agreement. “Thank you, Uraraka, your costumes look nice as well”. Iida says. “Hold on- your costume, the pipes in your calves, Iida, are you related to the pro Hero Ingenium?” Izuku starts to shake in excitement. “Hm, well I didn’t want to be judged solely based on my brother’s exploits, but yes, Ingenium is my older brother.” Iida says, chopping his right arm up and down.
“So cool! Can I get an autograph? Ingenium’s the coolest! He supports over 65 sidekicks at his agency, I guess that’s where you’re going to go after graduation!” Izuku starts to ramble. “W-well I suppose I can get you one. To answer your question, he currently employs 66 sidekicks at his agency. I will most likely apply there after I graduate from U.A.” Iida answers all of Izuku’s questions.
Before Izuku could ask any more, they could hear All Might clear his voice. “WELL LOOK AT ALL OF YOU! THEY SAY THAT THE COSTUME MAKES THE HERO, AND WHILE SOME OF YOU ARE THERE, TODAY, WE WILL AIM TO FIX AND CORRECT MOST OF YOUR COSTUMES TO MAKE THEM MORE PRACTICAL AND SAFE IN THE FIELD!” All Might’s voice rang out, stopping any conversations that were being had while the class was waiting. “NOW, I WANT YOU ALL TO FORM A CIRCLE, ONE BIG ENOUGH TO FIT EVERYONE ON THE OUTSIDE, AS WE WILL GO AROUND THE CIRCLE, SEND ONE PERSON TO THE MIDDLE, AND i WILL ASK SOMEONE TO TELL ME WHAT COULD BE A POTENTIAL WEAK SPOT OR DETRIMENT DURING HERO WORK”
After All Might ordered everyone to assemble in a circle, they started with seat number 1, which happened to be Aoyama. Aoyama stepped into the idle of the circle and struck a pose. “Bonjour mes amies, my costume looks simply shining, does it not!” he said, and everyone looked at him. “DOES ANYONE WANT TO START?” All Might asked.
Yaoyorozu raised her hand. “Well, I don’t really see any obvious weaknesses or potential factors for injury, however your glasses could probably be reinforced and secured so that when you get hit, they don’t fly off of your face. That is pretty much all I can see.” The class turned to look at her, some jaws dropping at how analytical and precise she sounded. All Might coughed. "YOUNG YAOYOROZU, YOU ARE CORRECT, HIS COSTUME IS PRETTY SOLID FOR A FIRST ATTEMPT, AND HE COULD REINFORCE HIS GLASSES A BIT. HOWEVER, YOU HAVEN’T USED YOUR COSTUMES IN COMBAT OR RESCUE WORK YET, AND YOU MIGHT FIND SOMETHING THAT YOU WANT TO ADD OR REMOVE BECAUSE EITHER YOU WANT TO ADD IT TO YOUR COSTUME, OR IT GETS IN THE WAY OF YOUR TASK.” Yaoyorozu smiled “Thank you, All Might-sensei”.
As Aoyama stepped back out of the circle, Ashido was called up. She spun around a few times before striking a pose. “Hey! How do you all like my costume!” She exclaimed with a grin on her face. The class went silent as they stared at what could only be called a fashion statement.
‘Skintight, no padding, bright colours and no pockets, that’s going to have to change,’ Izuku thought to himself. Nice! You mumbled none of that! Fifth- no, Banjo, ‘after spending nearly a week and a half with the vestiges, they, well the more outgoing ones told me to call them by their actual names; except for Vestige-Me, who I call Deku at his request’. said with a teasing tone. “Well?” Ashido said, waiting for an answer. “WELL, IT’S VERY… BRIGHT, YOUNG ASHIDO.” All Might finally said. She giggled, “thanks, All Might-sensei!”
All Might looked around at the class. “DOES ANYONE WANT TO START?” He asked, his eyes hovering on Izuku, Yaoyorozu and Iida. After a second, Iida opened his mouth. “Ashido-san, your costume is skintight, and offers no protection against a weapon or impact of any kind. As well as having no storage system for anything you may need while on the field.” he said, waving his arms around.
Ashido responds “yeah, but Midnight and Mt. Lady both have skin tight suits that don’t have pockets either!” Iida snaps his mouth shut, and puts his hand on his chin, in the classic thinking pose. As Ashido jumps with joy and flaunts her apparent win over Iida, Yaoyorozu raises her hand. All Might notices and calls on her. “They might have skin tight suits and no pockets, but Mt. Lady is constantly in the red for property damage, and Midnight requires it to use her quirk; and unless you plan on spraying acid from all over your body, you don’t.” The rebuke takes the wind out of Ashido’s sails and she slumps over, pouting.
After Ashido straightens up after her pout, All Might calls on the class and asks if anyone had anything else to say. Izuku raised his hand, and after being given the go-ahead to speak, he comments on her level of padding and protection, and elaborates on her skin tight suit and the fact that her acid probably burns her skin after a while, so pockets to hold first-aid kits should also be included. All Might’s mouth drops open, as Izuku goes into more detail than he’d expected.
“YES, THOSE ARE ALL EXCELLENT POINTS, AND YOU SHOULD TAKE THEM INTO CONSIDERATION, YOUNG ASHIDO!” Ashido stands in the middle of the circle, with a slight frown on her face. “Wow, I never thought of those things. Thanks Iida, Yaomomo and Midoriya!” She turns back to where her spot was, and skips back out of the circle, content in the feedback the three students gave. “Y-Yaomomo?” Yaoyorozu questioned. “Yeah! Yaomomo. Your last name is hard to say consistently, so I combined your first and last names to get Yaomomo!” Ashido cheerfully explained to a perplexed Yaoyorozu. “Well, if my name really is that hard to say, you can call me Yaomomo,” she says, internally very excited about receiving a nickname for the first time. Ashido cheers “Yeah! Thanks Yaomomo!”
All Might coughs, subtly trying to get the class back on track. After Ashido, Asui- she wants everyone to call her Tsu, went, then Iida, then Uraraka, and after about an hour and fifteen minutes, the entire class had their costumes evaluated. Most had quick changes, mostly to their level of protection, shoes, visors/glasses and things that could trip them up in the field. Only a few had big changes, Yaomomo had to redesign her entire costume with DNA-infused fabric, Hagakure and Kirishima did too. Once the class was happy with their recommendations and changes, they moved on to the most hyped part of the class: Combat Training.
