Just a few games

Summary:

After Mori sends Dazai and Chuuya on a mission to play some childish games, Chuuya and Dazai discover that the game isn't that childlike after all and strive to obtain information about it.

No, Dazai does not refer to Chuuya as "chibi".
No, I do not do accurate shit.
No, it will not be a masterpiece.

Notes:

I discovered that Squid Game and BSD crossovers BARELY exist, so I stood up and decided to share my absolutely bored and weird mind with y'all. KEEP IN MIND IT WILL PROBABLY LACK A LOT <( ̄︶ ̄)>

Chapter Text

The first thing Dazai saw when he opened his eyes was a room full of people and hundreds of beds surrounding the whole room. He was lying on his back trying to recall what happened when suddenly, he heard somebody scream.

"WHERE THE HELL AM I?" A man asked shocked. He wore what appeared to be a green tracksuit with a number on it, but he wasn't the only one; everyone in the room did, including Dazai himself.

Dazai looked down at his number, ignoring the commotion and screams inside the room.

"46."

That was his number. Dazai huffed in an unsatisfied tone, he didn't really like the attire, he much more enjoyed his port mafia suit that he normally wore, but he really didn't want to know how it was changed.

Fortunately, his bandages are still on; he wonders if anybody noticed his scars, but they most certainly did, and it would be more unexpected if they didn't.

Dazai recognized where he was; this was the game Mori had assigned both Chuuya and Dazai to play; nevertheless, he was perplexed as to why this was their mission in the first place, especially given that it took place in Korea. Everyone looked to be confused and attempting to grasp the situation, while Dazai sprang out of bed and headed towards a specific ginger he knew and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Careful, slug; you could get lost in this crowd because of how small you are, and then I'll have to put up posters for my missing dog~" Dazai talked in a scornful tone, of course he won't miss the opportunity to mess with his partner.

Chuuya immediately recognized the unpleasant voice and the stupid and never-ending comments, which made him grab Dazai by the collar. "I HATE YOUR GUTS," he shouted in Dazai's face, which made Dazai happy with how quickly he angered Chuuya.

"Well, I don't like you any better, Chuuya!" He took a step back, freeing himself from Chuuya's grasp, and looked at the slug's number.

"66." Dazai murmured to himself, appearing to be lost in contemplation.

"What?" Chuuya said with a baffled tone; he probably didn't pay much attention to his number, or any of the numbers in particular.

"That's your number, 66." Dazai placed his index finger on his chin for a few seconds before returning to reality and his unpleasant self. "How unfortunate, Chuuya! Did you know? The number 6 is frequently connected with the devil."

"God, I hate you!" Chuuya remarked, crossing his arms. "So, where the hell are we? Is this your doing?" Chuuya murmured, gazing around the room.

"Obviously not; I have no reason to kidnap hundreds of people," Dazai stated as if it were the most apparent thing conceivable. "But i guees a slug this slow won't know that!" Dazai stated with a confident sneer.

"I swear, Dazai, I will kill—" But before Chuuya could threaten Dazai any more, some soldiers wearing pink uniforms and black masks with different shapes, such as triangles, circles, and squares, appeared in front of everyone.

Listen up, everyone. A guard with a square mask stated, and everyone turned their attention to him. "We will play the first game shortly."

Everyone began asking questions at the same time, such as "Who are you?" "What did you do to our things?" "Where are we?" and other similar queries.

"Calm down everyone." The guard added in a calm tone. "Your possessions are all safe, you're in here to participate in the games and earn money for it. Simply told, you'll all play six different games, and if you fail any of them, you'll be eliminated.

Chuuya remembered Mori's mission, while Dazai ignored the guard's useless information and the player's queries. Mori had already provided Dazai with some information about the game, which resembled Korean kids games. However, he disliked the way the guard used the word "eliminated" since it gave him an image of what the word may allude to.

Chuuya was listening to the guard's words and the player's questions when he abruptly felt a hand on his wrist, yanking him away from the throng, "WHAT THE HELL IDIOT?!" Chuuya was about to ask Dazai a question but he answered blankly, "Red light, green light." Dazai remarked, gazing Chuuya in the eyes.

"What are you talking about?" Chuuya placed a hand on his hip, not understanding Dazai.

"The game "Red Light, Green Light" It's a Korean game that is typically played by children. That is what we will play this round." Chuuya was even more confused: first, how did Dazai know about it, and second, what exactly is the game about? But, before he could question Dazai, he had already answered Chuuya. "In this game, you must race to the finish line, and if you hear "red light", you must not move at all, or you will lose the game."

"How do you even know about this bastard?" Chuuya had so many questions, but he knew he wouldn't have time for all of them.

"Mori told me."

None of them could say anything further because the next thing they heard was a voice instructing them to accompany the guards to the first game. If Mori was correct and the first game was red light, green light, it wouldn't be too much of a problem for Dazai, but he still didn't feel like running; too much work. Maybe he could look for a new suicide attempt around here.

They all followed the guards and arrived at a strange environment that looked to be a maze, full of colors and extremely childlike. If someone were to ask Dazai, they climbed up the stairs and followed the guards until they came to a point where they had to take photographs.

Dazai questioned his chances of surviving a suicide attempt if he jumped from the steps, did he do it? No, he knew that Chuuya would find a way to catch him.

Speaking about Chuuya... "I know what you're thinking: quit it out." Dazai feels as if he's able to read his mind at times, which Dazai always finds annoying.

"Whaaat?~" Dazai gasped, laying a palm on his chest, which prompted a few players to look their way. "Chuuya thinks so lowly of me?"

"When do I NOT think lowly of you, shitty Dazai?" Chuuya grumbled and crossed his arms, "Besides knowing you, you'll never miss a change at this." Dazai rolled his eyes, even if what Chuuya stated was correct.

It was Dazai's turn for taking the photo, and he moved in a languid manner while glancing at the camera.

"Smile!" The device stated ready to take the shot, and Dazai stuck his tongue out to mock it.

Once everyone was done taking their photos and after a few moments of Chuuya arguing with the guards because they refused to let Chuuya take another picture shot, because he thought the shot was bad, although Dazai didn't see anything wrong with it, they finally arrived at the first game, which was a really large yard, and at the end of it, could be seen a giant doll.

"The first game will be red light, green light."

So, Mori was right.

Chapter 2: Not just a game

Summary:

Basically the red light, green light game, but with Dazai and Chuuya in it.

Notes:

First of all, I know that there are already players with Chuuya's and Dazai's numbers, but who cares about them? They aren't even important in the plot. (◔‿◔)

Chapter Text

The player's looked to be chatting around and were more bewildered than ever.

"So, we're here to play some kid's games?" People inquired; some were puzzled, some slightly delighted given that they were playing kid games for money, but the most were simply intrigued. Dazai, on the other hand, didn't appear to be thrilled; money won't aid him in any way, and Mori is unlikely to have put the pair of them on the game for money.

"Hey Chuuya, do you wanna bet who gets there first between both of us?" Dazai spoke with a competitive tone.

"Ha? Oh, you are on!" Chuuya spoke as confidently as usual, his smile never leaving his face, but Dazai didn't appear to have a good feeling about this game, so he looked a bit spaced out.

"Hey, slug, do you—" but before Dazai could continue his question, the words "green light" were heard, signifying the game seemed to have already started. Both of them, not realizing how time went, glanced at each other in the eyes with a competitive face and started sprinting towards the big doll.

Everyone continued to run until they heard the doll say "red light," which forced all of the players to come to a halt. However, one of the players, 324, appeared to have lost balance, and the woman's voice spoke again, "Player 324 eliminated." Then a gunshot was heard.

Everyone paused for a minute, and Dazai appeared to have quickly picked up on what had happened, but then the words "green light" were heard again.

A player who appeared to be his friend approached him and came to a stop when the doll called red light again. He appeared to be mocking him at first, but after a few seconds, he began sprinting towards the exits, and suddenly player 250 was shot by the enormous doll.

A woman screamed and was shot, and many players began running to the exits, causing chaos, while the majority froze, either out of shock or because they were picking up on what had happened.

People were dying left and right; some were pushed, some were running; it was a total disaster, but Dazai and Chuuya remained still. "So this is a dead game," Dazai thought to himself, but he didn't appear to worry or be too horrified; after all, he was used to seeing bodies or blood, so this was no different.

Dazai is now questioning why Mori didn't tell him anything about a deadly game, but this makes more sense as to why they are on the mission.

"Green light," Dazai started running; the timer started with 5 minutes, so he didn't want to waste time. Chuuya and the other players that survived ran again till they heard the words red light.

Chuuya stood behind Dazai. "Why didn't you warn me this was a deadly game?!" Chuuya was furious with Dazai for not addressing it, but he also thought it was unusual for Dazai not to share crucial information with Chuuya.

"I didn't know slug, besides blame Mori, not me." Dazai greatly despised Mori, and this was only another cause for him to plan a murder on his own boss, but he won't do it any time soon.

He heard muttering coming from players; the majority were presumably trying not to cry or faint on the spot, but they knew it would only result in death.

Dazai didn't like anyone here, save maybe Chuuya, but he'd never tell it to his face. although it's pretty reasonable; he didn't know any of them so he couldn't care less who dies and who doesn't, although he has to confess, he's rather interested in player 218, and maybe he'll have a talk with him if the player survives this round.

But now that he thinks about it, this may be the best way to die for Dazai; there's a low chance he'd somehow survive, and dying by some insane folks who made a children's game strangely lethal doesn't seem too horrible.

Dazai, Chuuya, and the others continued to run and stop anytime the doll said red light; a few others perished while trying not to move or stopping too late; Dazai wasn't bothered at all; he doesn't know what Chuuya is doing now, presumably still trying to be competitive about this.

After a few minutes, time began to run out, with just 20 seconds remaining, but they were all practically at the finish line, which wasn't far away, but the most of them began to stress out. They all rushed before the time ran out, but Dazai decided now was the perfect moment to stop moving; after all, it was about time Dazai died, his long-awaited and deserved death, right?

He glanced at the players racing with lifeless eyes, so empty it felt like a never-ending nothingness, void if you were to ask anybody. Dazai closed his eyes and chose to wait the last seconds he had to live, but unfortunately, this exquisite moment of silence was suddenly disrupted by the startling sensation of a hand literally dragging him along and flinging him at the finish line.

Zero seconds were left.

The players who stayed on the field were promptly shot, regardless of whether they moved.

Dazai slowly opened his eyes and attempted to rise up from the ground. He slowly cursed himself; he might have died, but someone had to save him, and it was the one who usually did when he didn't want to be saved.

"Don't think you have the right to just die and leave me alone now," Chuuya talked, staring at Dazai on the ground; he wanted to kill himself on the spot but had already failed.

"Look at you being such a good and loyal dog." Dazai determined that if he couldn't die, he could at least annoy the person who caused him to fail.

And then Chuuya and Dazai started bickering again, everyone glanced at them in complete disbelief, how could they behave so casual and free after physically seeing the death of over a hundred people?

"What the hell is wrong with you two!?" Dazai and Chuuya stopped bickering and looked around; people were yelling at them in horror, but some of them were too shocked to notice them.

Dazai rose up and approached the players. "We are just...talking?" He tried to sound innocent and put on a phony grin.

"How can you be so casual after hundreds of people died?!"

Dazai didn't react much to that; he merely lifted his hands in the air, as if he had been apprehended by the police, "because it doesn't really bother me?" He replied with a false smile and lifeless eyes.

"How can it not affect you?!" Player 456 approached him with a taken aback face. Of course, this would have quickly led to a large battle.

Dazai wanted to walk away, but he didn't have somewhere to go right now. He didn't understand why there was such a fuss over people he didn't know. Perhaps that is why he doesn't feel human; after all, humans will be humans, and he probably isn't one.

So what's left to tell them? that he works in the mafia and witnesses such things on a daily basis? Aside from the games and the big dolls, it isn't much different.

Chuuya stepped towards the players and stood next to Dazai's left side. "He doesn't owe any of you an explanation, and neither do I, so leave us alone," he remarked, already angered by the number of people jumping them.

It didn't improve the issue much, but it did make everyone leave them alone, but not before people gave them a strange look.

"I have trained my dog so well; I wish I could have some treats to feed you!" he rubbed Chuuya's head in a mocking manner, causing Chuuya to smack Dazai's hand away.

"WILL YOU STOP WITH THE DOG JOKES?" Chuuya clenched his teeth, irritated, and then calmed himself down. "We still have to figure out what Mori sent us here for."

"Well, it can't be money," Dazai remarked, still irritated by all the panicking in the crowd and people being afraid, but of course he couldn't even complete his argument with Chuuya because he heard the speaker again and they had to return to the room they initially woke up in.

And once again, they found themselves in the same space, with nothing but over 400 beds to sleep on.

"I'll be right back," Dazai responded before walking away from Chuuya, disregarding the questions that were shouted at him.

He patted player 218's shoulder and smiled at him with the same smile he had in the red light, green light game. "What's your name?"

Notes:

Second, I didn't know how to make Soukoku meet the important players, so why not make Dazai interested in player 218? ( ╹▽╹ )

Chapter 3: A breath of fresh air

Summary:

Basically, the voting episode and Chuuya meets someone he finds interesting.

Notes:

I KNOW THIS CHAPTER TOOK A WHILE TO COME OUT... Actually, at first I was planning to stop writing this fanfic because I was afraid it wasn't good enough or too bad, but the positive comments made me think that MAYBE it's not that bad. I'm going to try and post more often, I promise, but I'm really struggling with my mental health, so if a chapter is late, you'll know why... Anyway, enjoy my attempt to write something! (・∀・)

Chapter Text

Chuuya was still upset since Dazai basically left him alone to ponder about he was just placed into a dead game, but it wasn't like Dazai was going to listen to Chuuya anyway.

"That dam blue fish..." Chuuya whispered to himself, tapping his foot on the ground, but his thoughts were instantly interrupted when a guard walked in.

"Congratulations on making it through the first game," the guard said. He seemed quite calm about this. Chuuya still had so many questions. "I will now announce the results of the game," he continued, and the giant screen that displayed the players numbers decreased from 456 to 201. "Out of 456, 255 players were eliminated, and 201 completed the game successfully."

"Mister, please!" A lady called out with anguish in her voice. Her number was 212. "Listen, I'm so sorry!" She continued and then began pleading with the guard to let her leave over and over; she allegedly also had a kid, and she did appear fairly desperate.

Then, more people began to beg for a second chance, stating again that they couldn't continue and that they would settle their debt.

Despite everything, the guard remained composed and said, "I think there is a misunderstanding. We're not trying to hurt you or collect any of your debts," which was a very ironic statement given that 255 people had just died. "We're just here to give you a second chance." Chuuya thought that the only person who would likely interpret this as a second chance would be Dazai, who would be happy to be dying.

"this is just a game." Is this really "just" a game when your life is at stake? Even though Chuuya possesses an ability that would allow him to easily handle any bullet that tries to kill him, it would be difficult to finish the assignment Mori gave them if one of them lost and had to face the repercussions.

Naturally, though, the guards' refusal to listen to the player's remarks resulted in an argument between them. This argument was cut short when the guard discharged his gun into the air, causing everyone to recoil—aside from Chuuya and most probably Dazai, who is currently nowhere to be seen.

"Anyone who refuses to play will be eliminated." Since it was Chuuya's mission, it's not like he was going to stop playing anyhow, but all of a sudden, player 218 said, "If all players agreed to stop playing, the games are allowed to end. Or am I wrong?" His voice was still a little unsteady as he spoke.

The guard seemed to reflect for a bit before answering, "You are correct."

"Then let's all vote to end this." Well, that wasn't good. Chuuya was sent here by Mori for a reason; stopping the game now would undoubtedly cause difficulty, and he was now truly wondering what Dazai was thinking.

"All right, as you wish," the guard said, and everyone began to settle down. "We will take a vote to decide the termination of the game." Everyone rose up; this wasn't going to end well for Chuuya and Dazai this way.

"Before we vote," the guard said, "let us announce the prize money for the games as previously promised." The guard pressed the remote control, causing billions of won to fall into the enormous ball; Chuuya wasn't sure how much that was in yen currency, but it should be a lot

Chuuya's thoughts were interrupted by a touch on his shoulder. He turned around to find Dazai smiling at him, but Chuuya could tell the grin was artificial. "That's a lot of money, don't you think, slug?" He didn't want to go to Dazai's attic..

"WHERE WERE YOU, IDIOT?" Chuuya was still upset with Dazai for leaving him alone out of the blue, but it wasn't the first time he had done this.

"Just meeting some people left and right," Dazai remarked nonchalantly, swinging his feet. Chuuya was battling the temptation to hit Dazai; he really regretted having spared him from his suicide attempt now.

"And with that, we will now let the voting begin." There were two buttons they could touch on, an O and an X, and Chuuya hoped people would vote to stay.

And so the voting began; people began hitting the buttons, some to remain, others to go. Chuuya was obviously going to vote to stay, and so will Dazai, he thought, but he hopes the votes will be enough to avoid any issues.

Then it was Chuuya's turn to vote; he pushed O without hesitation and went back into the throng, waiting for the other players; the votes looked to be very near to each other, which was rather aggravating.

After a few more votes, it was Dazai's turn; he went to the buttons and stared at them for a good minute. Chuuya was starting to get a little confused, and players were already getting impatient, telling Dazai to vote already. After another minute, Dazai voted, and he voted X, which made Chuuya clench his fist in even more confusion.

Chuuya glared at Dazai across the room, who was smiling at him, as Chuuya peered with a "I'll kill you" attitude, while Dazai simply stuck his tongue out, what an asshole.

The last person to vote was an elderly guy, his number was 1, and he stared at the buttons for a few minutes. The existing votes were a tie, therefore whatever the old man was going to vote for would be what happened.

After a few minutes, he hit the X button, which made a lot of people sigh. Chuuya clinched his teeth and was ready to jump Dazai for even thinking of voting X.

A lot of people were plainly dissatisfied and were pleading to stay; however, the guards did not appear to listen.

The next thing Chuuya knows, he's been tossed out of a van with his limbs tied, and he's still blaming everything on Dazai.

After a few minutes of struggling to be untied, Chuuya rises up and grabs Dazai by the collar, who has already finished untying himself. "YOU DAM MORON, WHAT THE HELL?" he had so many questions on what Dazai was thinking.

"Relax, slug!" Dazai crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. "It's not like we won't be back in the game," he replied nonchalantly, confusing Chuuya even more.

"You dam moron, tell me what you were thinking!"

"You're really slow. Think about this: why would they just let people abandon the game? Why would they solely collect from those who are in debt or living a bad life?" Chuuya gazed at Dazai for several minutes.

"So you're saying that they're waiting for the players to return themselves?" Chuuya murmured, looking into Dazai's eyes.

"Bingo!"

"Okay, let's say that's right. WHY IN THE HELL DID YOU VOTE X THEN?" Chuuya was about to hurl Dazai into a river. "If Mori finds out, we're both in big trouble!"

"First, I wanted to gain the trust of some of the players there, second, I need to get something, and third, I don't care what Mori thinks, maybe I simply wanted to irritate the both of you~" Dazai lifted his hands in the air like a child.

"What do you even need to get?" Chuuya huffed and rolled his eyes, already tired of Dazai.

"You'll see~" Once again, Dazai was unclear, and this time Chuuya did not care any more. "Anyway, I wanted to visit Korea for a long time, so we should do something fun in the meantime!" Dazai started going towards Chuuya.

"Since when did YOU want to visit South Korea?" Chuuya smirked mockingly as he felt a hand drag him by the wrist.

"Since yesterday, of course!" Dazai pulled Chuuya along with him; they were in nothing more than shorts; they definitely needed some clothing first; therefore, the first thing they did was buy some clothes from a shop. (Correction, they (Dazai) STOLE some clothes from the store).

They were both going on a road when they passed by an arcade, so Dazai stopped Chuuya and said, "Hey Chuuya, let's play some games at the arcade." Chuuya gazed at Dazai with a confident grin, "You're on!"

When they entered the arcade, they began playing, starting with one game and progressing to eight games, all of which Dazai won. Chuuya was not only furious because Dazai might swear he saw his veins shoot out, but he was also convinced he was better than Dazai, and during the eighth game, he slammed his head.

Dazai was laughing at Chuuya when he suddenly saw something on the table and snatched it up.

"Hey, slug look," Chuuya raised his head up and peered at the strange letter that Dazai seemed to have acquired; it had a square, a triangle, and a circle on it, both instantly catching up on what it was.

There appeared to be one on the table beside Chuuya too, so he picked it up, and they both received some unusual destinations to travel to.

"See, Chuuya, no need to doubt me; see ya back in the game!" Dazai rose up and turned around to say one final thing to Chuuya: "Oh, and try to get close to some people; who knows what will happen, but don't get attached, okay?" Dazai left Chuuya alone, prompting him to privately curse him before rising up and exiting the arcade.

He strolled outside the arcade, still glancing at the letter, before accidently bumping into someone, causing him to collapse to the ground.

It was a woman, and Chuuya recognized her rather well; her number was 67, if he recalls well. "Hey, its you!"

"Do i know you?" The girl looked at Chuuya with a puzzled face.

"Well, not really, but we both participated in the game" Chuuya remarked, making the girl's eyes widen a little.

"Oh, I see" the girl glanced at Chuuya for a minute.

"My name is Chuuya, Chuuya Nakahara" Chuuya extended a hand to meet the girl.

"Chuuya? That does not sound like a Korean name. Are you not from here?" The girl inquired, looking bewildered and refusing to take his hand.

"Well..." Chuuya was ready to continue when the girl walked away, not appearing to be interested anymore. Chuuya didn't even get to know her name; what a shame.

Chuuya went away, grumbling to himself.

He then came in a strange area, from where it was written to meet. He looked at the clock, and it was fairly late; it was night outside, and no one else was there

Suddenly he saw a car arrive and stop just where he was; inside was a pink guard, and the door opened. He walked inside and sat down when suddenly a strange fog started developing inside the car, causing Chuuya to doze off..

Atleast Dazai was right, but he won't ever admit it to his face.
