A Bared Grin is still A Grin.

Summary:

Ability, Quirk, and Visions.

One is considered normal, one is prejudiced against and the other remains in the shadows.

Care to take a guess on which is which?

OR

U.A and Teyvat Akademy decide to perform an exchange program - Class 1-A are determined, woefully unaware as to what lies ahead, whereas the T.A students are either laughing or crying (both with malicious intent). What all students are (somewhat) unaware of, however, is that Yokohoma has a card up its sleeve.

Things get a tinnnyyyyy bit trickier when a group of quirkless students join 1-A on their trip, but it'll all be okay!!!!!! Class 1-A will totally be okay with a group of skilled assasins and a duo of too-clever detectives. Totally.

OR

I really like U.A bashing and crossover fics, and I have wayyyy too many ideas for OC inserts.

Chapter 1: Death of Differences

Chapter Text

It's common knowledge that 80% of the population has quirks, and that the remaining 20% have no quirks at all.

However, what's not so common knowledge - or rather, what is common knowledge, but everyone simply decides to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to it - is the discrimination against the quirkless.

The kindest way to put it was that they were looked down upon. People couldn't possibly fathom the many jeers, sneers and insults the quirkless received unless they had experienced it themselves, and the absolute hurt they inflicted.

Out of this confusing, swirling, darkness of hurt and hatred and fear, however, came shing a beacon of hope - Visions.

At first, Visions were used as a means of defence - the people who advanced on the quirkless, be it with mere insults or jeers, wooden bats or their own quirks, were met with deadly, sharp blasts of teal wind, or violent, violet electricity coursing through their bodies, or lethal bursts of amber rock from beneath their very feet.

It was, of course, as effective as could be in scaring the harassers away. But, the moment of triumph for the quirkless - those with Visions now dubbed as 'Allogenes' - only lasted as that: a moment.

Hordes and hordes of protestors, Heroes, riots, Villians - hell, even mere civillians descended upon them.

'Wrong, unethical, destructive use of such alien technology is a crime!' The righteous Heroes cry. 'Filthy Villians!'

'How come they get to choose their power?' The Villians sob. 'It's unfair!'

'They're quirkless, yet they can use elements?' The riots protest. 'They're freaks!'

'Freaks!'

'...unfair...'

'Scum!'

'Villians...'

The Visions and their bearers, once a ray of light for the quirkless, now became targets.

Although the Government at first tried to keep it under wraps  news began to trickle through through: first, an Allogene was found dead in Russia. This was followed by around two deaths of other Allogenes in Japan.

The details of the murders were so gruesome that the editors had to stay up several late nights to edit out the worst bits - this seemingly consisted the details of the reason they were killed.

Several - that is to say, all - news sources declared that they had been caught doing atrocious criminal crimes, and had been punished for it by the grieving members of many families they had ties to.

Everybody ignored the gaping holes in the story, and how while the news had an obligation to remain a neutral stance on every subject, a faint glow of glee manged to shine from the words.

One thing that people manged to glean from this news however, was this: as long as the news covered up the details - which they were effectively doing - they could do whatever they wanted to the Allogenes and the quirkless.

People without quirks, and with or without Visions, began fleeing in fear. They left countries, they left their homes, for a refuge.

What and where this refuge was, the population didn't find out until much later.

They were fleeing to Yokohoma.

《□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□》

When Yokohoma sealed its borders, the outside worls erupted in chaos. Why, they ask, would an entire city close itself of?

Various discussions and theories began popping up online. One of the most popular ones, with over more than a billion views on YouTube, was a video discussing how the only logical conclusion was that Villians had forced the city into isolation.

"...there's no other explanation,' the person in the video says grimly. 'Add on how the Villians carrying the so-called "Visions", have been running to Yokohoma, and how the barriers closed only a few days later - it lines up perfectly. Couple that with how Yokohoma is a city teeming with the quirkless, it isn't hard to figure out. The Allogenes, the Villians both inside and outside Yokohoma have forced the city in submission.'

This was taken as the truth. People began abusing the Allogenes even harder, claiming how they were villainous freak with alien powers, and the statistics in quirkless violence and abuse increased. People were attempting to push back the Allogenes and quirkless not yet in Yokohoma, but try as they might, they never succeeded.

(Rumors whispered that a small spirit looking thing, a girl with purple hair and an amber man in white clothing were the main forces behind this, but were brushed off).

When the people found out that the barrier around Yokohoma only seemed to let in the Quirkless and Allogenes, and they could not force their way in, the fight died out.

Yokohoma, the Isolated City, the Villian Controlled City.

What the higher-ups of the government neglected to tell the public, however, was that they were woefully wrong about the last part.

But how could the Government stand against the Gifted of Yokohoma, the Ability Users?

Chapter Text

For the U.A students, this particular Monday hardly differed from any other.

The sky was a baby blue, the shine of the sun uninterrupted by the dreamy wisps of clouds decorating the sky. The day proved to be warm, an occasional breeze drifting through their hair.

'A perfect day for training!' Midoriya thought happily.

He sat down in the classroom of 1-A, with the other students shuffling in one by one. The noise increased as more and more appeared, and the young boy could only smile at the familiar scene. After what they'd all been through, hardly anybody could find fault with him for finding joy in the small things.

In a tangle of dark hair, as usual, their teacher arrived in the classroom.

What was not the usual, however, was the white furred principal perching on the underground hero's shoulder.

When Aizawa had finally succeeded in quieting down the class, Principal Nedzu stood up on his shoulder and cleared his throat.

'Good morning, students!' He smiled at all the assembled children, clapping his paws together. 'I am pleased to see that you all are doing well and healthy. Now-'

At this, the Principal's voice took on a more brisk, serious tone, and the smile vanished from his nuzzle. This had all the previously lighthearted students tensing up, and Aizawa gave a subtle nod of approval when they all sat up a little straighter.

'What am I doing here, you might be wondering? Well, allow me to answer: have all of you heard of the term, 'Visions'?'

The silence in the classroom was broken by mutters and exclamations; they all quieted down slightly when Aizawa glared at them. Nedzu nodded at Yaoyorozu, who had her hand up.

'Visions are the term used for the alien slash elemental technology which is handled by quirkless individuals.' She said clearly.

Nedzu nodded at her, satisfied. 'Correct. Now, as all of you know, while these 'Visions' have been around for centuries, scientists have yet to understand them. The most believed conclusion today is that the quirkless with Visions - called 'Allogenes' - have stolen from actual quirked people.'

A noise of outrage filled the class, many students gasping in horror whereas others others looked sick, and Midoriya couldn't blame them. He felt his hands rolling into tight fists - stealing quirks from innocents? That was terrible! He couldn't imagine how the individuals felt, having their quirks taken by force and having to live without it.

He himself, having been quirkless for most of his life, could only imagine the horrors and shudder.

Aizawa glared at the class yet again, his hair floating up in warning, and the class quieted down slightly.

'I understand your reactions at the news' continued Nedzu. 'But I request you all to listen calmly and carefully.'

At this, the white mouse-bear-dog principal hopped onto the teacher's wooden table, clicking the button on a remote. A hologram appeared, with a black box in the middle and several lines of information surrounding it. The box had a white question mark on it, as well as a bright red circle inside the square which confused the class.

'As I have said, our knowledge on Visions is painfully little. But, with the help of several quirked and talented researchers, we have managed to glean some useful information on what these 'Visions' and 'Allogenes' may be like.'

At this, the Principal's beady eyes gleamed, and his sharp smile made the class shudder.

'Let's go through it, shall we?'

[■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■]

'Give that back! That's MINE, YOU-'

'Ugh, get that thing OUT OF MY FACE-'

'OW! WATCH WHERE YOU'RE-'

'You better shuddup before I-'

'THAT'S MY TOOTHBRUSH, YOU FAT COW-'

'WHO D'YOU THINK YOU'RE CALLING A-'

'What were we supposed to do again...?'

Ayaka sighed lightly as she took in the chaos of the room. This was originally the Inazuman dorms, but so many students from other dorms had popped in that you could find at least two people from every dorm in here.

Hollers, screams and the occasional sound of fireworks could be heard, clouding the room with light smoke. Somebody banged a window open, and a cool wind breezed into the room.

Standing just besides the doors, she was able to hear a knock.

Silently hoping that it wasn't a teacher, Ayaka hastened to open it, stepping carefully over fallen suitcases, discarded bags, strewn clothes and other odds and ends, before clicking it open.

As it turns out, it wasn't! Well - it was, but did  Venti actually differ from the students, considering his love for mayhem?

'Barbatos-sensei!' Ayaka greeted him respectfully, sinking gracefully into a polite bow.

Venti grinned, putting his hands on his hips.

'Oh, no need for the formalities, Ayaka!' The Anemo teacher winked, eyes twinkling. He peeked over her shoulder, at the chaos inside, and his grin grew.

'Looks like packings goings swell, huh?' His tone was humorous, and she straightened up, embarrassed.

She tried to stutter put a reply, but Venti cut her off with a breezy laugh. 'Just pulling your leg, child!~'

He smiled at her, and she smiled back, somewhat relieved. His light-hearted demeanor eased her, and she couldn't help but think that he was a very fitting stand-in for the God of Freedom.

'AYAKA!!!!!'

The girl in question jumped, before saying a quick apology and wheeling off, rushing forwards to break apart Hu Tao and Xinque, who were trying to set the ends of the curtains on fire.

Venti's smile grew softer at the scene inside the dorms, his sigh lost in the usual noises of teenage spirit loud in the dormitory.

If only they knew why they were packing, and where they would be going to.

The Anemo teacher frowned. He didn't see the logic in not telling the students where they were going to, and simply sending out a request for them to pack only seemed to make things more ominous. But against Principal Dainsleif and Vice-Principal Ninguang, there wasn't much he could do about it.

...Now, if only he could find that blockhead to lift his mood up even further...

Chapter 3: 'Caeruleus Socius'

Summary:

The Azure Ally of Yokohoma

Chapter Text

The sea is a strange place.

Not even half of it has been explored, and yet it's depths still take many by fascination.

If you look at it on a normal day, the sea is a pleasant blue, dancing with the sparkles of the sun as its waves reach up to sandy shores, before receding.

On a stormy day, however, the sea turns grey and violent; it throws up frothing waves larger than houses and more dangerous than an army of men, its waves crashing defeaningly onto rocks with the intention of breaking it down.

On the surface, the sea is simply a stretch of blue. Pleasant and unassuming.

Underneath, though, it is anything but.

This is how Yokohomans view Teyvat.

Some thousand years ago, when somehow, news had gotten out that the Allogenes were moving out of Yokohoma, the outside world had a reaction similar to that of a nukebomb: explosive, destructive and completely expected.

Of course, all the Heroes (unsurprisingly) had gone to try and stop them with the goal of capturing the Allogenes, and the Villians similarly had tried to do the same only to know how and why they had gotten to choose their own powers.

They failed. They utterly, completely, absolutely failed.

Medics, both with healing quirks and extensive knowledge, struggled to remove the shards of ice stuck in the blood vessels of Heroes; they had to rush to explain and find a cure on the leaves and flora wrapping around necks which had Villians choking and suffocating;  they had to spend countless hours tending to those whose lungs were bursting with water.

All this had others with the same goal of capturing the Allogenes shying away, terrified of what might happen to them should they cross an Allogene.

When they found out physical assault couldn't work, they switched to other methods.

Online platforms were full to bursting with content of Allogenes; videos of Heroes a Villians alike became viral, showing them getting absolutely destroyed by the Vision-holders; discussions began taking place, wondering why on earth the Allogenes - now, after extensive research done by scientists, coined as 'Quirk Theives' - were moving. Some speculated that they were getting afraid of Yokohoma and it's villians, whereas others said that Yokohoma had simply ordered them to get out.

Most common, though, were the comments about the Quirk Theives.

Many began abusing them, calling then slurs and other racist terms, claiming that they were monsters for being so brutal against Heroes, and others scorned them, calling the Allogenes weak for turning to such destructive means, and announcing that they were underdeveloped.

News was exaggerated: a simply ice shard stuck in a Hero's knee turned into the said Hero needing an emergency amputation; temporary unconsciousness caused by lack of oxygen with water turned into a near death experience, and so on and so forth.

With each new news, the public became harsher towards the Allogenes, their cries of them being Villians and unstabilized and theives becoming more and more loud.

The Allogenes, however, took no notice of this. Where they were moving to exactly wasn't available information, and still nobody knew where it was even after they had supposedly reached it, and the Allogems going silent once again.

A few years later, whispers began blooming: that there was a secret continent which housed all Allogenes, that all with Visions resided there, that quirkless from all over the world went there before never being heard if again.

Yokohomans liken Teyvat to the sea; a mere continent at first glance, unimportant other than the history surrounding it. At second glance and upon further inspection, however, it's depths reveal hidden power and above all, mystery.

This is why Yokohomans, with their shared and close history with Teyvatians, has given the continent another name, known only within the port city.

Chapter Text

Atsushi stifled a groan, staring at the papers infront of him with a somewhat stupefied expression which screamed 'ARE YOU SERIOUS????'

'Is something wrong, Atsushi-san?' Kyouka slid next to him, her voice quiet but clear.

Before Atsushi could respond, a voice spoke.

'It's those heroes.'

The (orphan) duo looked up to stare at Ranpo, who was crunching on some candies.

'...yeah,' the white-haired boy sighed, picking up the papers as reluctantly as someone picking up a bomb. 'They're harassing Yokohomans exiting the border, again.' He frowned. 'Something about illegal documents.'

'Seriously?'

The indignant voice of a brown haired girl spoke up, a scowl etched on her face as she slumped in her seat by the window. 'Ugh, don't they ever lay off? Our documents are perfectly legalized.'

The black haired detective snickered. 'They don't care about all that legal-megal stichk, ya'know?' He popped some more candy into his mouth.

'As long as they've got an excuse to bash and interrogate Yokohoman citizens for any scrap of info, they'll do it; altering the reasons for it on media in the outside world is very easy, after all,' the detective paused. 'I thought you'd know all that, Yumi,' He added cheekily.

The girl in question frowned at him, before sighing in resignation. 'Well? What were the casualties this time?'

Atsushi blinked, peering at the papers infront of him. 'Um, nothing physical this time; though they did use threats of violence and restraining.'

He frowned. 'And this is the unfiltered version. I wonder what they wrote in the outside world's news?'

'Probably a justification,' Kyouka mused. 'Or maybe they didn't report it at all.'

Yumi snorted. 'Oh please, Kyouka-chan. The outside world digs up any excuse to abuse us with so much glee its indecent. Most likely they reported that those Yokohoman citizens are either criminals, or facing abuse from the Yokohoman 'Villians'.'

There was a rather gloomy silence after this, broken only by the sounds of Ranpo chewing his candy.

'Er,' Atsushi sought to break the tense atmosphere, looking at the papers again. 'Looks like it was a Government official apprehended this time - Sakaguchi Ango and some other Government agents.'

'A government official?' Kyouka frowned. 'What could they be leaving Yokohoma for?'

Ranpo answered unexpectedly. 'It's because of the exchange program between Japan and the Socius.'

Atsushi choked on his spit, Yumi spat out her water and even Kyouka's eyes widened.

'THE WHAT!?!?!?!??!?!'

■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□

'Oh no. Oh no.'

Noelle's horrified whisper was drowned in the hollers of her classroom. She winced inwardly, sinking ever so slightly into her seat.

'Sir sir sir-' Bennet grimaced, raising his hand. 'Please tell me you're joking?'

'I am not.' Zhongli responded patiently. 'I know this has come as a shock to you all, but I must ask you all to listen this through.'

He waited until the class quieted, and only faces of disdain and grimaces remained.

'As you all are aware, the incidents regarding the USJ and the Hero Killer some time ago shook the community in the outside world, and the public lost its trust in the Heroes. They began criticizing the system, and questioning those in power.'

'Yes, but I don't see how any of that is our problem.' Xingque said rather bluntly, and frowned when Chongyun nudged him harshly. However, Zhongli only nodded in understanding.

'I understand your doubts, but please refrain from interrupting.' Zhongli ended rather sternly, and Xingque sighed and bowed his head, looking a little ashamed.

'Please continue, Zhongli-sama,' Ayaka said hurriedly.

There was a pause, and the man did so.

'The Heroes are attempting to compensate for this and again gain trust by trying to gain information on Teyvat, as well as Visions and the Allogenes; keyword: trying.

(At this, several students sneered and others looked pleased)

Teyvat has been unmoving on their stance to share any information. Recognizing this, the Government has gone so far as to begin targeting innocent citizens coming out of Yokohoma for any information regarding us.

Yokohoma has also been rigid in their decision in not sharing information, but the individual citizens exiting the city have expressed distress in how those 'Heroes' handled interrogations.

With all this, political ties concerning Yokohoma, Teyvat and Japan are becoming stained, which has the potential of affecting the entire outside world should nothing be done about it.

And thus, this exchange program was the result. It was proposed to us by the Principal of U.A Highschool, and our Principal has not had time to make any concrete decision until now, hence all the hasty packing of luggage yesterday as they were unsure as to whuch students would be participating.

This program is meant to connect three individual groups at once, and share our cultures as well as  to build trust for future collaborations in the future; what the U.A principal wrote in his email, that is.'

Silence greeted the Geo Teacher's words, before:

'Aiya... they're so unsubtle its embarrassing.'

Hu Tao sighed, her head dropping down onto her desk.

Collei nodded. 'This is obviously another dig at info gathering.' The green haired girl frowned in displeasure.

Many nodded, clearly agreeing with the two girls, Xingque snickering at Hu Tao earlier comment and Ayaka smiling ruefully.

'Razor not like this,' the boy admitted, and Noelle patted his shoulder consolingly.

Zhongli nodded, a faint smile pulling at his lips. 'Indeed. They are being quite transparent in this attempt, though I do not believe it is by intentional. Now,'

The class' attention shifted, becoming more attentive as their teacher's tone became more serious.

'Now, let me inform you of this: in this exchange program, the two parties will meet in Yokohoma and any decisions regarding the program will be made from the city itself. It was considered to be easier as there were too many things to be considered in a mere email, and not enough time for deciding. This includes the decision of which school will be going where.'

Zhongli paused to let this sink in, before continuing.

'If it is decided that U.A students will be coming to Teyvat Akademy, let them know that they are stepping foot on our territory; and as it is ours, they play by our rules.'

Zhongli smiled, but his eyes gleamed. For a moment, the class saw not Zhongli, but Rex Lapis; the God Of Geo, Morax of Liyue.

The class exchanged glances, before smiling, a menacing shine on their faces.

'Of course.'

'An exchange program? Between U.A and Teyvat Akademy...?'

'Yes, that is what my sources tell me.'

'Ha...haha- hahahahaha!! This... is going to be interesting.'

'Oooh~ imagine their faces when we show up!'

'Yes...yes. That is what we will do. Start preparing.'

[□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■]

Sunlight streamed in through large windows, the curtains bound to the side. Light, paneled wood ran up the walls, the mosaic-esque glass of the domed roof coloring the spots of colour on the clean, fluffy carpet hues of green, blue and purple. Squashy, comfortable armchairs decorated the area, tables piled high with papers and open textbooks strewn across them, as well as the occasional pot of drooping vegetation. Stretching across one entire wall were spacious shelves, books piled neatly in some places, others stacked hazardedly.

The common room was empty save for a few individuals, the other students of the Sumeru dorm seemingly having gone out to classes.

The blond boy groaned, his body draped across a couch.

'Ugh...! Why'd they have to arrange this program in the first place?? Imagine-' At this, he gasped in horror. 'Imagine if they came here! To our Akademy!'

The neutral voice of a boy with ashy hair responded.

'They'd probably be as destructive as you are.'

'Exac- what?!? Excuse me??'

'You're excused.'

'You-'

The noise of a yawn cut through the air. A girl with dark hair sat up slowly, stretching leisurely. She opened her eyes and blinked at the two boys - the blond glowering one, and the other monotone one.

'Oh, did I interrup something. . .? Sorry. . .'

'It's okay, Layla.' Kaveh huffed, slumbing back with his arms crossed, still shooting daggers at Alhaitham.

Layla nodded slowly, as though still processing everything.

The silence stretched on for a little, none of the three individuals attempting to strike up conversation - Kaveh was still looking peeved, Alhaitham was reading and Layla looked like she was about to drop to sleep again - but as it turns out, none of them needed to start a conversation, for at that moment, the door banged open.

Layla's head snapped up, Kaveh jumped and Alhaitham looked unconcerned, but all their gazes flew towards the girl panting in the doorway, looking like she had run ten miles.

'A-' Collei slumped down slightly, still gasping for air. 'A Yokohoman citizen going - going outside - was. Was found - near - murdered-'

She took a great gasp, before everything came tumbling out of her mouth.

'A-Yokohoman-citizen-going-outside-was-found-nearly-dead-with-quirk-related-injuries-on-their-person,'

A thick, thick, looming silence descended on the room.

Alhaitham snapped his book shut. '...this is gonna cause some problems.'

Chapter Text

The silence was palpable. Every face was tense or scrunched up in distaste, or simply in plain shock.

Kazuya winced internally, thankful that the table was covering it or everyone would've been able to see the nervous tangling and twisting his fingers were doing.

Just when he debated whether he should speak up or not (the very thought gave him a heart attack), the Doctor spoke up.

'This was no accident.'

Yosano's voice cut the silence, and Kazu breathed out a quite sigh of relief.

Kunikida nodded, his brows furrowed as his eyes roved through the lines in the newspaper.

'No, it wasn't. It's too much of a coincidence.'

'Kunikidaaaaaaaaaaa~ aren't you being too paranoid~?'

'SHUT UP, YOU BANDAGE SQUANDERING MACHINE!!!!!!'

Dazai merely giggled and shot his co-worker a wink.

...Kazu supposed that Dazai's intelligence was traded for his survival instincts.

Yosano merely sighed at the exchange. Honestly, she wished the office was a little more full so that she could hear something else other than their arguments; sure, it was amusing at first, but one got weary of it after some time.

Unfortunately though, only her, Kunikida, Dazai, Atsushi and Kazuya were in as the others had gone to check a case. And as always, the President was busy.

Kazu decided that satisfaction was a good trade for his pride, and ventured out of his comfort zone in a few words: (don't stutter, don't stutter, don't stutter-)

'But, um, Kunikida-san, why - why is it, er, a coin... a, coincidence?'

(WHAT THE HSKAKDBDMSOAJDHSJSHRJSKSJSHDKSOTBCKAO WHY US HE LIKE THIS WHY IS HE LIKE THIS  TJSKAHDIA)

Kunikida suffered through a deep, hefty sigh, the veins in his forehead still popping, and pushed his glasses up his nose. (he's probably mad at him oh my gosh why did he do that)

'It's coincidental because the exchange program between The Socuis and Japan is going to begin soon.' The blond explained, his gaze making its way back to the newspaper.

The exchange program? Kazuya thought he had heard about it; Yumi had spammed his phone practically a thousand times yesterday, entire pages of emojis and rants and keyboard smashes making up the group chat him, her, and the rest of the ADA shared (Tanizaki had asked her if she was alright and Naomi had offered her several emoticons as condolences).

'So this was set up by them?' Atsushi asked, frowning.

'Ahh, Atsushi-kun, but who is them?' Dazai asked, raising his eyebrows and smiling at his student.

The younger male cocked his head. 'U.A, right?'

'No, I don't think so.' Yosano said thoughtfully. 'It's far too neat to be them.'

'Huh?'

Kunikida sighed. 'It's far too intelligent of a move to be made by Japan, though certainly as backhanded. A third party had a hand in this.'

Kazuya blinked. 'Um, but... what do they, er... how does it - benefit them?'

Dazai's smile turned sharper. 'Yokohoma does not take kindly to people harming their citizens, Kazuya-kun; normally, the earlier agreement between us and Japan and the Socius might be revoked, but...!' Dazai paused dramatically (Kunikida's eye jumped), 'that's not the case here.'

'Huh??'

Yosano sighed again, adjusting her gloves. 'He means that the third party involved will have further say in the program's matter.'

When Kazuya and Atsushi continued to look confused, Kunikida pinched the bridge of his nose.

'The third party - the Port Mafia - arranged this, and will use it to their advantage.' Kunikida darkened. 'Likely meaning they'll force a deal with the Socius and Japan in return to allowing them to stay here.'

Yosano nodded. 'The deal likely consists of them joining the program somehow, and observing one of them.'

'Ding ding~' Dazai said lazily, and returned back to his book. Yosano rolled her eyes, but she was smiling. Kunikida returned to the newspaper, and Atsushi excused himself to go get a glass of water.

Kazuya turned this over in his head. If it consisted of the PM, it couldn't mean anything good.

Grimacing in sympathy for both Japan and the Socius (but mostly Japan) he plucked his phone out from his pocket and checked his messages app.

'???' Somebody had added him into a new group.

Chapter Text

Midoriya walked out of his class, his ears buzzing. Around him his classmates were yapping their heads off, and he could hardly blame them after what they'd learned:

Allogenes stole quirks from normal individuals, and killed them after. Nedzu had admitted that nobody had an idea how they did it.

When people found out, they chased down the so-called 'Allogenes' and demanded they hand them back, but they refused and fled to Yokohoma for refuge for they heard that Yokohoma had sealed its borders and had a villainous, corrupted organization that had an iron fist over the mostly quirkless port city; the Allogenes thought they could prosper there, as they were villians with alien powers themselves.

When Yokohoma had kicked them out, however, they were forced to flee to another place. The city had forced them out because because they had probably learnt everything they needed to from the Allogenes; quirk stealing and applying it to themselves and whatnot.

As he thought about this, Izuku felt an uncomfortable squirming in his stomach; he felt sick. Did this mean that there was an entire city who knew how to steal quirks?

'It's similar to All for One...'

Izuku breathed out and clenched his fists; this couldn't happen! This was wrong! He felt an incessant urge to do something - he didn't know what, just something. If only he were as strong as All Might, he might go to Yokohoma and get those quirks back, if only he were as strong as All Might-

'Izuku-kun? Are you okay?'

Izuku jumped at the voice, and turned around to face Uraraka's worried face.

'Um, yeah, I'm - I'm fine,' He said, a sheepish, slightly forced smile pasting his lips.

She looked at him in concern. 'Er, you don't have to pretend, you know...' She smiled nervously, then continued in a lower voice. 'All those things Principal Nedzu told us... it's horrible, isn't it?'

Izuku took a shaky breath, then nodded firmly.
'It is. I can't imagine how all those poor civillians feel! Imagine - imagine getting a good quirk, and then somebody comes and - and takes it away from you! Its terrible!'

Uraraka nodded vehemently. 'Yes! All those poor people... ugh, the Allogenes are terrible people!'

Izuku nodded, frowning. There was a slight pause, and then he said slowly: 'but... that exchange program he told us about... couldn't we do something then?'

Uraraka lit up. 'Ah, of course! I still can't imagine were going to Yokohoma of all places, but - we can help them then!'

Izuku bopped his head eagerly. 'Yes! Those people who got their quirks stolen from, and maybe - maybe the Teyvat Akademy students as well...? I mean-' He shook his head. 'I mean, I know that they're being taught bad things  and they all probably become villians after they leave the Akademy, but... I feel sorry for them? It's not their fault, is it?'

Uraraka nodded thoughtfully. 'I guess so... I mean, it's not like they asked to be taught all that quirk-stealing stuff, no? You're right, Izuku-kun; we should help them!' She smiled. 'You're really kind, Izuku!'

He blushed all the way to the cafeteria.

Chapter Text

"You've got to be joking Dain, you've got to be."

Dainsleif grimaced, wearily rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I am afraid I am not."

Aether groaned and sank further into his seat, and Lumine's eyes narrowed.

"We have not even met them yet, and they have already started causing problems?" Lumine demanded.

"Well," Aether said weakly "it's got to be a record."

Lumine shook her head. "Honestly, Dainsleif, these are the people whom you desire us to make allies with?"

Dainsleif sighed, tapping his fingers on the dark wood of his desk. "You have to understand, Pri- Lumine, that this program may lead to easier tension in the future, as well as lessen suspicion. While Japan's Heroes may not be - er - very competent, cooperation is important for general future interactions."

Lumine narrowed her eyes further, looking every inch the feared Abyss Princess she was some time ago. She opened her mouth, but her brother cut her off.

"Ok, Dain," Aether took a breath and sat up straighter on his chair, though a grimace still sat on his face. "What are the casualties this time? Will our trip to or relationship with Yokohoma be affected by this?"

Dainselif paused, then drawing his words out, said slowly: "I am not sure... while we clearly had no hand in this, and Yokohoma has been historically indifferent to the outside world - they do not take kindly to those who harm its civillians. Although the Heroes who harmed said civillian are sure to at the receiving end of the city's wrath."

Aether frowned. "So... yes, or no?"

Dainsleif sighed, albeit fondly, and Lumine's lips twitched.

"Probably not, although there are still two days left till we leave for the city, so things are still undecided."

"If you say so," Aether shrugged. "What was the name of the civillian, anyway?"

Dainsleif glanced at the Steam Bird's newspaper article. "The woman's name is Robin Stevens. She works at a library, and is an Ability User as well."

Lumine's eyebrows shot up. "Oh? I was under the belief that Ability Users were inherently stronger than Quirked individuals."

"And smarter."

"And more likeable."

"And with actual fashion taste."

"And with better personality."

Dainsleif sighed, and the two twins smirked but quieted down.

"I doubt anybody knows why she lost," he said dryly. "Although... Yokohoma isn't afraid of playing dirty, and this might just be some sort of ruse instead of a genuine loss."

"Yes, but what would they have to gain from it?" Lumine protested.

Dainsielf shook his head. "Archons know, Lumine. All we can do right now is see their response and wait to see if it affects our future plans with them."

Lumine nodded, and Aether stood up, stretching.

"Thanks, Dain," he yawned. "We'll be out for a bit, come back tommorow - a Vision Establishment in Mastufu needs some help - the HPSC is trying to make things difficult for them. Again."

Dainsleif nodded. "Alright, take care."

Lumine stood up as well, and hesitated, as though she was about to say something, then stopped when she saw Aether's expectant glance.

"Alright, we're leaving." She nodded once, sharply. "We shall contact you if anything goes wrong."

The twins made their way to the door, making to exit the office, but paused when Dainsleif called out: "Oh, wait a moment."

"Huh?" Aether turned, his hand already on the doorknob.

"I nearly forgot to mention," Dainsleif gave them a rare smile. "The Astral Express will be visiting day after."

There was a small pause as the twins processed this information, before Aether whooped and punched the air, beaming so hard that his cheeks hurt, and Lumine's face broadened into a bright grin.

Chapter Text

The light patter of a drizzle mingled with the sounds of the bustling city, the screeching and purring of cars and the tap of shoes upon concrete minutely drowning out the soft splashes of water.

Neon lights flashed in the night, the only light other than the glowing squares of buildings and the faintest, smallest pinpricks of stars in the darkness of the sky, obscured by smog.

A person with long, straight snow-white hair pulled up into a ponytail walked along with a brown-haired man.

The white haired person had smooth dark skin, their eyes a flashing golden. They wore a simple black sleeveless waistcoat, with a neat dress shirt under; their tie was a simple black as well, paired with black pants and black shoes to match, a monocle screwed on over their left eye.

The brown haired man had glasses perched atop his nose, with a simple outfit consisting of a dark scarf and a grey coat.

"We shall be leaving in a system hour, yes?" The white haired person asked, as the duo stopped just outside a souvenir shop.

Welt nodded. "Yes. Himeko, Sunday and the kids are back on the Express, but Black Swan is not - I believe she's meeting with Acheron."

"I see." Sam examined the piece of jewelery on display. "I believe Fio would like this..."

Welt smiled. "Ah, yes - we all look forward to meeting them again, after their aid."

Sam nodded, still examining the silver piece of jewelery. "I am certain they will be delighted to see you as well. I hear they are getting somewhat restless on 'Earth'."

Welt chuckled. "Leo did say staying still wasn't for them." There was a small  thoughtful pause. "Will you three be leaving for your own travels soon?"

Sam nodded again, standing up straight and screwing in their monocle. "Yes. Though," they added, their calm face looking a little more lively than before, "we shall not be leaving before visiting Teyvat. I trust you shall be accompanying us?"

Welt shook his head. "I'm afraid not - only the kids will be going. Perhaps Sunday as well, though he's uncertain."

"I see..." Sam paused, before gesturing to the shop's door. "Shall we buy something for the others? We will be leaving Penacomy soon, after all."

Welt nodded, agreeing, and the two made their way in.

[□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□]

The class of 1-A was all but bursting with chatter, the teacher-less classroom showing a scene of the Heroes in training perching on tables, or reclining in chairs.

At a table, Uraraka and some of the girls looked excited, as well as curious.

"I wonder when Aizawa-sensei will bring in the transfer students?" Uraraka questioned, her face thoughtful. "They're all supposed to be from non-hero schools, no?"

"That's right, ribbit." Asui confirmed.

None of the students could forget yesterday's email, where Aizawa had informed them all that their exchange program with Teyvat was drawing lots of attention, good and bad alike. Some criticized their decision, saying that only the Heroes should go and the students remain behind, while others said that it was time the Teyvat and Yokohoman citizens were saved.

Criticism died down a little when Nedzu reassured them all that this program would be a good experience for the Heroes in training, because when they become Heores they would often be encountering new and unfamiliar territory as well as situations, and to raise their awareness on the things happening around the world, and not just in their own areas.

Among this attention were other schools, mostly Hero ones. They were all fuming about how U.A was the one sending out students, and not them. However, they a managed to scrape a slight solution, offering some students from their own schools to join U.A, as then everyone would be safer and they would form alliances as a whole with Teyvat, as well as U.A.

Clearly, though, they were all just vying for a spot in the spotlight, and Nedzu was just about to shut down their offers when out of the shouting, shoving mess of emails from Hero schools, came one singular email.

It was from a quirkless school.

The email was short and brief, stating that this was a rare opportunity for all involved, and they would gladly send students from their school to join Class 1-A, and Nedzu, intrigued, accepted.

After all, it would be curious to see how quirkless Japanese students mingled with the quirkless of Yokohoma. And if anything happened, the Heroes in training were more than capable of protecting the quirkless students.

"I, for one, think that Principal Nedzu made a mistake." Jirou said, her brows furrowed and a frown etched on her face. "If any trouble comes, after all, I'd much defend myself rather than those quirkless students."

"Jirou-chan!" Uraraka scolded. "Don't say that! As Heroes, we need to save and protect everyone - even if they are quirkless."

Jirou shrugged. "We're obligated to save citizens, not kids our age who should be more than capable of handling themselves. Or capable of handling themselves, if only they had quirks."

Uraraka stumbled in her defence, chewing her lower lip. "Yes, but - but... we should still try..."

As the brown haired girl trialed off, Aizawa entered the class.

"Keep quiet," he snapped tiredly, and the students' attention snapped to him. Some leaped off of tables, whereas others sitting in chairs sat up straighter.

"...alright, listen." The Pro Hero rubbed the bridge of his nose, before continuing. "As you all know, the students from Kunugigoaka Junior High School will be arriving today; they will be here in a minute or so. Before they come, I need to say a forewarning to you all."

At this, Aizawa's eyes hardened, his tone growing firmer, and the class payed close attention to the next words he said.

"Put up a good example to the other students. They are quirkless, and will most be likely be relying on you all for protection in Yokohoma in this exchange program. While you will certainly help them, as soon as things get difficult I want you all to look after yourselves first, and leave the quirkless students to me. Understood?"

"Yes, Sensei!"

The students' combined voices rang in the classroom, and the teacher nodded sharply.

"Good. Again, set a good example. They'll look up to you, and you all have to show them that you can relied on, and that you are the quality and standard for future Heroes. For Plus Ultra!"

"PLUS ULTRA!!"

Unbeknownst to all inside the class, a small group had formed outside the door.

A golden haired girl snorted elegantly, looking at the door with undisguised disdain. "Really? This is supposed to be who the public is relying on?"

A brown haired girl frowned. "The teacher didn't even notice we're waiting outside..."

A golden eyed boy smirked. "Well, if they're this unobservant, the rest should be easy for us~"

The others nodded, snickering or smiling. All their expressions smoothed out in record time when the door opened in front of them, and a homeless looking man gestured them in.

"Come in."

The group trooped through, and stopped in front of the 1-A class, who all blinked at the unsual appearances infront of them.

"Class," The homeless looking man said tiredly, "welcome the 3-E students from Kunugigaoka Junior High School."

Mina waved energetically, and one girl waved back just as happily, while the others smiled politely.

The man looked at them. "Please introduce yourselves."

A tall, pretty girl with shiny, wavy golden hair stepped forward confidently, and bobbed a polite curtsey, before introducing herself smoothly.

"Good morning, class 1-A. I am the Honourable Daisy Wells, and it is a pleasure to meet you all."

Murmurs rippled through the class - she looks and sounds foreign; did that title mean anything? She's very pretty - but one glare from the teacher quieted them all.

Daisy stepped back, and shot another girl an expectant glance. The girl in question grimaced, and stopped forward as well.

She was shorter, and rounder than the blonde. She had dark hair in simple plaits and dark brown eyes.
She began to curtsey, blinked, and then settled for bowing politely. "Good morning. My name is Hazel Wong. It's nice to meet you all."

She straightened, and hurried backwards as though wanting to melt into the wall. A green haired girl took her place.

"Hello, class!" She chirped, smiling brightly; she had been the one to wave back at Mina. She had short light green hair, and sparkling eyes. "My name's Kayano Kaede! Nice to meet you all!!"

A blue haired boy stopped forward, smiling rather shyly. "Good morning, everyone. My name is Nagisa Shiota - it's nice to meet you."

A red haired boy with golden eyes lazily walked up next, his hands casually in his pockets.

"The names Karma, Karma Akabane." He drawled, a faint smirk on his face. "A pleasure to meet you all~"

The entire class started slightly when they set their eyes on the last student; they hadn't noticed him at all, as though he was in the shadows.

The boy was in a wheelchair, and had black hair and bored looking violet eyes, and he didn't bother rolling his wheelchair upfront.

"Erich Stark," he introduced shortly. When he spoke, an odd accent threaded his words. Midoriya racked his brains. Where was he from?

Meanwhile, Aizawa took a quick glance around the other transfer students.

Kaede was still smiling brightly, her eyes jumping to and from every face; Karma was slouching lazily, his hands still in his pockets, Nagisa's eyes flicked to every face, still smiling shyly; Daisy was murmering to Hazel, their heads tilted together; Erich was resting in his wheelchair, his chin propped up on his palm, his elbow resting on the armrest of chair.

He could already feel a headache coming on. Why had he accepted this job...?

Jumping for joy at being able to add my fav Fandom.

Additional information:

💠 The Akademy has a Dress Code, not a uniform. Students may wear jackets and hoodies and such, but a tie to represent their Elemental Course is essential.

💠 The Student Council heads have a silver badge with the Akademy's crest on it, while the Clubs' heads have coloured armbands that distinguish them from other students.

💠 Pyro Course students are usually seen wearing gloves because they deal with flames and such. Dendro Course students are allowed to wear extra belts to hold seeds and stuff like that.

💠 For a club to be counted as an 'official club' there must be at least five students in the club, not including the head.

💠 While the heads of the Elemental Courses teach their respective students how to use their elements, when Aether and Lumine visit the school for some time there's always a scrum to get to their class.

💠 The Gaming Club started out as a joke between students, but then more people kept joinging and when Nahida asked in one class whether they'd like to make it official, the students immediately said yes and pointed to Ga Ming as the head [The club mostly take turns meeting at some dorm, pretend to have a meeting and then play games for the entire evening (Ninguang was obliged to create a Gaming Club room with several PC's, X-boxes, Gameboys, etc)]. The Club officially has 38 members, and students may or may not camp there for days after Final Examinations

Chapter Text

The Fontaine dorm, to put it frankly, was in an utter mess. For a nation usually associated with order, anybody who was treated to the sounds of screaming and yelling richoeting of quartz walls, the sight of students rushing about madly either looking frantic or lugging around heavy cases, would have assumed that the dorm would've been aptly called it 'Fontaine - Dorm of Chaos - The Primordial Sea Nearly Took Our Lives But We're Still Here and Screaming Back the Potential Waves of Another One (Which Is Actually Just Monseiur Neuvillete's Tears)'

...

Okay, maybe not to that extent, but the dorm was unorganized.

"Here!?! Oh, dear Archons, they're camping here?!" Charlotte shrieked, looking as terrified at the thought of staying with some Heroes as she might have been at the sight of the Primordial Sea. "Oh, why why why-"

Red-haired Lorelei piped in, "I heard that, apparently, when Principal Dainsleif asked who was willing to host U.A students in their dorms to get them adjusted slash accumulated to the Akademy all the Heads waited for twenty-two minutes in silence until Neuvillete gave in and said that we would."

There was a moment's silence as everybody pondered upon this information.

"I - but Monseiur Neuvillete knows what sort those 'Heroes' are!" Charlotte looked at the height of confused distress. "Why would he want us to-"

She was interrupted by the sound of multiple heavy-tomed books thudding against the floor.

"Ah-"

Freminet cautiously peered around the tetorous pile of books he was carrying. "Sorry, did that hit anyone...?"

"Oh, no, don't worry - here!-" Charlotte swooped down and picked up all the fallen books, peering around her own pile to flash him a quick smile. "I'll help you - where are you carrying these to?"

Freminet blinked. "Oh, it - it's alright-"

"Oh, let her help, brother!" Lyney stepped up to the younger boy as though he had been there the entire time. "The faster that room is all cleared, the better! And I'm certain your mechanical toys are waiting - they won't fix themselves, will they?"

The magician winked at his younger brother, who looked resigned.

"Oh, um, ok. Thank you." The duo went out of the room, Charlotte's chattering dying away as they walked down the hall to a nearby storage room.

Lorelei glanced at Lyney. "Say, why do you think Monseiur accepted the Principal's request? I'm sure he could've waited a whole lot longer."

Lyney shrugged, smiling ruefully. "Oh, who knows? I suppose he simply likes giving people a chance."

"I suppose." Lorelei looked thoughtful.

"That wouldn't be all of it, though." Lynette seemingly materialized out of nowhere (Lorelei pretended not to jump), and continued ad though she had been standing there the whole time. "Monseiur probably has something up his sleeve."

"Um - maybe he thinks we'll influence the Heroes' way of thinking?" Lorelei said uncertainly. "Y'know, Nation of Justice and all that."

Lynette nodded. "Yes. Perhaps so."

Lyney opened his mouth, and a scream rang out.

Lynette's ears twitched, Lyney looked startled and Lorelei pretended not to jump again. All the students around them hauling things or chattering stopped, concern, confusion and even fear on their faces.

"Wha-?"

Charlotte burst through the door in a whirl of pink hair and maroon jacket and glinting monocle, her hair windswept and her eyes wide.

"THE ASTRAL EXPRESS ARE HERE!!!!!"

There was a moment's pause, and then all the students began scrambling and shoving to get to the door, yelling themselves hoarse; Lorelei nearly got bowled over, but she didn't mind as she rushed forward, bowling over somebody else, right out the Dorm and into the hallway.

[□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□]

On the grassy fields just outside Akademy premises, the blond twins shouted with delight (or rather Aether shouted, waving his arms, and Lumine simply walked forward with him, a smile on her face) as they ran forward to greet their company.

March rushed forward, violently knocking into Aether and wrapping him in a bone-crushing hug.

"AETHER!" She yelled in his ear. "We haven't see you in so long!"

She pulled back just as violently, turning to beam at Lumine. "Oh, hello, Lumine! It's been long time!"

Aether laughed. "Yes, March - its good to see you again."

"Easy, March," said an amused voice.

Welt came up to them, smiling at the (shorter) blond siblings.

"Aether, Lumine." He inclined his head. "It's good to see you again."

Lumine dipped her head. "It's our pleasure to meet you and the crew once again, Welt."

Footsteps approached them, and both blonds looked curiously at the white-haired boy.

"Oh, let me introduce you. Sunday, Lumine and Aether. Aether and Lumine, Sunday."

Aether smiled at him, stepping forward to shake hands. "Nice to meet you, Sunday. Me and my sister hope you have a me.orable time here."

Sunday shook his hand, a small, polite smile on his face. "A pleasure meeting you as well. I am sure I shall find myself at my ease here."

While the two chattered, Lumine took a quick headcount of them all.

"Where is Himeko?"

Welt waved a hand. "Oh, she's coming. Just making some last-minute arrangements, I gather."

"I see..."  Lumine looked over to the dark-haired boy and grey-haired girl.

"It has been come time Dan Heng, Stelle. It is good to see you both again."

Stelle nodded happily, while Dan Heng crossed his arms. "As for you, Lumine."

March giggled and tossed a camera into the air before catching it. "C'mon, everyone, group photo! Well, not group, Himeko isn't here - but still! Group up, everyone!"

The camera lense flashed in the air. "Say 'cheese!'"

The photo came out: March posing, Aether matching her blinding grin, Sunday smiling only a little awkwardly, Stelle shooting a double thumbs-up, Welt smiling genially, Dan Heng's face impassive but hand holding up a peace sign and Lumine's hands clapsed behind her.

Everybody chattered and laughed while examining the photo, and Lumine felt a small smile flit across her face. She'd forgotten what friends sounded like.

Notes:

Right now I'm mostly just trying to sort out characters and things while I plan out the storyline, so don't mind if the story is a little slow-paced - it might be that way for a bit until my head is a little clearer.

Anyways!! Thank you for reading!! Please leave comments - I love reading em!! And maybe a kudos as well?

Until the next chapter!!!! ;D

Chapter Text

Hello! How have you been doing? Well, I hope, and healthy. If you're here, thank you so, so much for reading! Never did I imagine I'd gain this many hits or kudos lol, considering my writing could... ahem... use some improvements... (I reread some parts of this work and want to weep at how rashly I did it urhsjjghhh)

So, onto business!

I am not going to delete this work, considering I've put too much time and effort into it, but looking back on it I should've plotted things out a little more carefully - everything in this fic was kinda an off the top decision.
I'm going to start a new work - same fandoms, same characters, same idea - but, more organized, neat and generally better. I'll maybeeee post on a new account, but right now I'll still be using this one.

Next time I'll take more time to plan things out, since none of us enjoy a rash and badly cooked fanfic, I'm sure.

That was basically it. I may not post for a bit, but I won't quit, considering I love writing and this platform a Lil too much lol.

Thank you!!!! Take care, and stay safe.

Notes:

Tldr: not gonna delete this work, but it's discontinued. I'll post a better one next time, and I WILL!!

again, thank you for the comments, kudoses and all the hits!!! Take care!!! <33
