Chapter 1: Flower Bouquet.

Chapter Text

Wallter’s birthday was never something important to him ever since he didn’t have anyone that would be willing to celebrate it with him, after all is there anyone that remembers about it? Probably not, or at least that’s what Wallter thought.

Mark did infact remember, he remembered very clearly how his birthday was on the 17th of february, he also remembers when their anniversary was supposed to be, not like that matters now of course..

Mark started feeling guilty only a few weeks ago at the realising he never got flowers to his ex husband when they were married, so he thought to maybe do that now instead, of course that wouldn’t fix shit but he could show to him that he still loves him, so he did what he exactly planned to.

He bought a bouquet of flowers and waited for the elevator to reach the floor he was in, once it did, he stepped on it like always and thankfully, Wallter still wasnt there, Mark kept the bouquet behind his back, patiently waiting for his ex husband to arrive.

Eventually, the floor reached the Flatgrass level, Mark would have never thought he’d be happy to see it.

He eyed Wallter as he entered the elevator and the cement man did the same.

”Mark.”

”Wallter.”

That’s all they said for a while, until Mark turned around and walked towards Wallter.

”Hiya brick boy, I erm, got these for ya..Happy b’day, sorry if i never got you these…” he said as he revealed the bouquet with all of his favourite flowers in his hands as he looked down.

Wallter had a shocked expression on his face, was it positive? Was it negative? Neither Wallter knew, but he accepted the flowers nonetheless and spoke.

”…Thank you Mark, I appreciate it.” he spoke before looking down at the flowers, a faint but noticeable smile formed in his face as he noticed that it was all his favourite flowers, he told Mark like once which one they were (and while they were married he never got him any…) but at least now he did, he’s happy he realised that.

”Uh, hope ya spend a nice b’day, Wallt. I mean Wallter, my bad.” Wallt. He didn’t hear that nickname in a long time, Mark used to call him that all the time when they were married, maybe that would have slipped up, if Mark said that yesterday or any other day, he would have crossed his arms and looked away in annoyance, but this time instead, his smile somehow grew a little as he looked at Mark and then back at the flowers.

Silence once again fell upon the former couple, eventually the backrooms level came up, and with that, Wallter left and eventually got back at his house.

Once he got there, he did some thinking, maybe he did miss Mark, not only romantically but his presence too, he missed also things such as his laugh and his embraces, he was just denying it to himself, so he decided that maybe he would try and do something about it, even if slowly.
