Chapter Text
Rimuru x Velzard
By: Fhayro
In the deepest part of the dark, damp cave, hidden beneath the mountains of the Jura Forest, lies the White Ice Dragon Velzard. In her fully materialized dragon form, she lay on the small seal encapsulating her in one place.
It had been centuries since her imprisonment. She had long given up on Guy’s rescue, seeing how her other True Dragon siblings could come and go as they pleased.
The decision to not touch the Forest, as per their agreement in the past Walpurgis, seemed to still be in effect. Or he truly just did not care that she was sealed all alone.
The True Dragon let out a mocking laugh at herself, her shoulders shaking slightly. One could say this was karma for all the times she had "disciplined" Veldora too harshly. It had gotten so far that her younger sister, Scorch Dragon Velgrynd, decided to join hands with their youngest to defeat her.
As the surviving oldest of all True Dragons, she wasn’t one to be finished off just like that. Veldora was not much of a threat with how he merely flaunted his magicules around; the real enemy was Velgrynd, who was sick and tired of her abuse toward their brother.
After a century stuck in the cave, she couldn’t help but accept, gritting her teeth that she indeed had gone too far.
In the end, it was the masked hero who sealed her away. A surprise attack she didn’t see coming, her focus fixed entirely on the two True Dragons. She watched as Veldora was taken out of commission, and Velgrynd and she, both in their dragon forms, battled in the sky.
Their scales were covered in blood as they reached the climax of their battle.
As the final blows were about to clash, a bright light in the distance glowed. Velgrynd used her cardinal acceleration to escape in time as the Unlimited Imprisonment activated. Before Velzard could even activate Suspended World to stop the skill, all her abilities were blocked.
She could only watch as she was completely sealed away while a transformed Velgrynd grabbed Veldora and escaped. She watched them fly off, slamming her fist against the seal, only to feel the blow absorbed, her effort nothing but a futile waste of energy.
As the masked hero left, she was placed under the mountain of the Jura Forest, to remain sealed until the massive amount of magicules leaking from her body finally emptied and her life perished.
As soon as she dies, it may take a few years or even decades, but she will eventually revive. When that happens, she will get her revenge on everyone. Her siblings, Guy, even the hero will not be safe.
As her thoughts wandered, plotting her vengeance, she could hear the sound of plopping on the ground. Her dragon head raised slightly, turning forward as a small silvery blue blob began bouncing its way around the cave.
“A slime, this deep in the cave?” Her draconic head tilted to the side, curious about the appearance of such a weak creature. With the seal constantly blocking her skills and forcing her magicules to leak out, the cave should already be infested with the spawns born from high-density magicules. They would be no less strong than the common A-rank monsters at the very minimum.
Even those magical beasts would not dare come this close to her. It was highly toxic, even for beings of their level. Only those in the Demon Lord Seed at the bare minimum could maintain their composure in this area of the cave.
She could not help but feel slight irritation seeing the slime slamming its head against the wall, rolling around before bouncing once more in random directions.
Amused by the stupidity of the creature before her, she remained quiet and let it wander. There was no harm in gaining small entertainment after being sealed for 300 years. She felt quite annoyed finding the small slime entertaining; how far had her mind fallen.
“..?” Suddenly, she sensed something off about the slime. It began twisting and turning, moving its body like it had purpose.
“That can’t be, is it smarter than the usual? If it can reach this far, is it a unique spawned from my magicules?”
As she thought, she began focusing all her strength to slither through the gap she made in the barrier. The only thing she could do while inside, that is, to peek outside of the seal and communicate, albeit not vocally.
‘Little one, do you have sentience?’
‘Uwah!’
A cute scream leaked out of the slime, its blob-like body jumping into the air before landing back down. Its form turned a full 360, like it was turning its head to look for who spoke.
‘…Who is there?’
‘Oh, you really are sentient.’
‘Uhm…Hi? Are you talking in my head?’
‘Fufufu little one, you don’t have much senses, do you? If you had, you would notice that I have been in front of you all this time.’
The slime stopped moving around, keeping still as it excitedly replied. ‘You are?! Great! Can you help me, I seem to been reincarnated without any limbs and senses.’
‘Reincarnated you say? I see, an otherworlder.’ Nodding her head as if she finally understood something, she continued to chat with the slime.
It had been a while since she had such a long conversation. Whenever Veldora or Velgrynd showed up, it was much better to ignore their taunting than even try to respond. Thus, she never really had any actual conversation with anyone for centuries.
‘Can you help me?’ The tiny voice coming from the slime jumped slightly as it called out to the White Ice Dragon.
Velzard chuckled softly, a sound the slime could not hear, finding the small monster’s pleas interesting. There was no harm in helping the little one sees, she concluded as she began talking once more.
‘Very well. Consider this a great honor.’ With an almost haughty tone, she began explaining the basics of Magic Sense and its application, how common it was among the strong creatures of this world, and how convenient it was for a slime like it.
[Extra Skill: Magic Sense Acquired.]
[Activate Magic Sense Y/N?]
‘Yes!’
As a wave of magicules spread from his body, he began bouncing with joy as the area finally began to take form and fill with color. Like its head turning around, the upper part of its blob-like body twisted from left to right.
‘I can see! I can see!’ Jumping quickly to the nearby water, the slime felt slightly sullen. ‘I really am a slime.’
‘You weren’t sure?’ Velzard couldn’t help but retort, letting out a short chortle as she observed the small monster jump back close to her. It suddenly halted in its tracks, ‘looking’ right at her.
‘…pretty. I mean, thank you for your help!’ Brushing off its first comment, it began showing its appreciation to the snow-white dragon.
Velzard laid her head back, tail flicking once behind her as she grew bored of staring at the blue slime. ‘You can go now. Fair warning, this place is filled with beasts you may find hard to beat.’
‘…Beasts.’ Repeating her words, the slime remained silent for a few seconds before beginning to slither closer to her. ‘Maybe, maybe I’ll stay here for some time. You seem pretty lonely here.’
Opening her eyes, she glared at the slime. Her head turned toward it as her magicules rose, causing the cave to tremble under her presence.
‘Insolence! You think that I would find solace in chatting with a mere slime like you?’
Her mood soured further. She was already grumpy from recalling the moment she had been sealed for the nth time today, and now the slime dared to insult her like that.
‘I didn’t mean anything bad! I was just wondering why you are here all alone…’
‘It’s because I am sealed away.’ She scoffed, explaining the circumstances of her situation. She then reprimanded herself silently. Why was she opening up to a random weak creature? Was she that deprived of social interaction?
‘I see. Sealed away? You seem pretty strong from where I’m standing.’
‘I am one of the four True Dragons in existence, after all. Currently the strongest among us alive.’ She didn’t want to sound boastful or prideful; she was merely stating facts that anyone with enough information would know.
‘Amazing!’ A genuine cheer came from the slime. It almost took the True Dragon by surprise with how excitedly it reacted. She felt a little embarrassed, feeling like the introduction sounded like an imitation of her younger brother’s flamboyance. ‘But how did you get sealed?’
Her mood dampened once more, recalling that day with fury.
‘It started like this…’
It wasn’t like the slime could do anything with the information. She was merely venting to the one creature no one would ever believe. No matter what she said, it would sound like delusions coming from a blue blob.
‘I see, that must suck so much. Three hundred years all alone here, not to mention being mocked every few years or so.’
‘It’s not that bad. The child is merely venting his frustration at me disciplining him. Once I get out of here, I’ll settle it with those two.’ She huffed, laying her head down and letting out a low breath.
‘How long will it take for you to escape?’
‘About a century or so. Once my magicule depletes and I perish, I will revive somewhere out there.’
‘…’ The slime remained quiet, its body wobbling slightly as it deliberated its words while Velzard waited for its reply.
‘…How, how about I help you escape?’ A suggestion came from the tiny slime, barely half the size of her dragon claw, actually wanting to help her, a True Dragon.
‘Fufufufufu.’ Velzard couldn’t help but laugh. Whether it was a laugh due to finding his words hilarious or something else, the slime waited nervously, trying to identify it.
‘And you think you can help me how?’ She jested, her tone lighter. Her mood seemed to brighten, hearing a joke like that after centuries of imprisonment.
‘…’ Keeping quiet, the slime seemed to be thinking about what to say.
‘It says that if we analyze the Unlimited Imprisonment from both the inside and outside, we might be able to undo it.’
Velzard kept her eyes closed, not even looking at the slime as she replied.
‘A good idea. However, my skills are sealed as well. Analyzing the barrier from within is not possible.’
‘Great Sage says that all I need is the information. It’ll handle the analysis itself.’
‘Are you sure you want to stay here that long? You were a human just a little while ago. It might take decades, if not close to my death, before we can finish analyzing this seal.’
‘That’s why I have a suggestion. What do you say about staying in my Stomach (Storage)?’
‘….’
‘….;’
‘I-it will serve as a container. This way you won’t have to lose too much magicule, and I can leave the cave with you in me.’
Explaining further, the slime felt the cave beginning to tremble once more. As it ‘looked’ at the white dragon, she raised her draconic head and began laughing, an uncharacteristically genuine laugh of amusement.
‘Either I die here in a century, or stay inside your ‘Stomach’ for who knows how long just to escape. Very humorous. Very comical a suggestion.’
‘Is that so…’
‘But I can see the method to your madness. I don’t gamble, but I do find this amusing. Very well, I’ll accept such an offer from you, little one.’
‘Really?’ Jumping forward, it twisted in excitement, its voice filled with joy.
‘Hm. Not to mention I will grant you the privilege of being named.’
‘Named?’
‘Monsters are born as nameless beings. They can be given names by superior beings in exchange for their divine protection and a boost in their strength and evolution. Though a fair warning, this is highly dangerous and may cause the namer to perish.’
‘Are you sure you want to name me then?’
‘I see no problem. You are only a slime while I am a True Dragon. A drop taken from a vast ocean will make no difference. I want you to give us both a name. Humans call it family names, I believe.’
Velzard felt slightly attached to the little slime. Watching it grow and evolve seemed far more interesting than remaining in the cave waiting to die.
‘Let’s see then. Since you are the White Ice Dragon Velzard, how about Frost? The White Ice Dragon Velzard Frost!’
She giggled at its excited suggestion. ‘That sounds lovely. Velzard Frost. You will be Rimuru. A pleasure to meet you, Rimuru Frost.’
As the name rang through the cave, Rimuru felt something deep inside his soul begin to change, as if the name was deeply etched and would remain there for the rest of eternity.
‘A pleasure as well, Velzard Frost.’
‘Fufufu, see you soon, Rimuru.’ Standing up on all her limbs, the White Ice Dragon smiled down at the slime.
‘See you soon, Velzard.’
[Unique Skill: Predator Activated Y/N?]
‘Yes!’
As he made his decision, his slime form began to expand, looming over the entire barrier as Velzard silently watched herself grow smaller and smaller until everything was consumed.
[Would you like to analyze Unlimited Imprisonment Y/N?]
‘Yes.’
With one final glance at the slime, she couldn’t help but wonder how this little decision would affect the future.
As Rimuru finished devouring the Unlimited Imprisonment, he felt slightly lonely once more. But this time, his ‘march’ forward had a goal in mind. Slithering with his slime body, he began to escape the cave.
