    Summary

In Edo-period Japan, a young woman of mixed Black and Japanese heritage, marked by vitiligo, struggles to find her place in a rigid society that sees her as an outsider. Born to foreign mother and a Japanese father, she faces prejudice from all sides—her unusual appearance draws whispers, her gender limits her autonomy, and her vitiligo makes her the subject of superstition.

Despite these hardships, she grows into a resilient and skilled individual, learning both the way of the sword and the art of survival. However, the more she tries to carve out a place for herself, the more she realizes that Japan’s rigid caste system and isolationist policies leave little room for someone like her. Betrayed by those she once trusted and denied opportunities others take for granted, she makes the daring choice to leave Japan, seeking a new life beyond its borders.

Her departure is not just an escape but an act of defiance—a journey toward a world where she might be seen not as a curse or anomaly but as a person with the power to shape her own destiny.
