With the music, the quiet sound of beak grinding from Laserbeak and Buzzsaw, Ravage purring, and the soft invents of Rumble and Frenzy, Soundwave dozed off a couple minutes later, content.
And then he awoke in a G.H.O.S.T cell.
All of the warmth he felt from the memory-turned-dream evaporated, replaced with anger at that traitor Megatron for putting him in this position and grief for what he had lost.
Rumble’s face stuck in his processor the longest.
“Soundwave: Will never eject improperly.” His spark ached at how confident he sounded. He was so sure he would never be that low on energon, and yet… He shuddered at the memory.
“Soundwave. Are you alright?” Starscream was standing, looking down at his hunched-over form with a raised eyebrow.
He was far from alright.
“Affirmative.” He growled out when the question hung in the air too long.
“If you say so.” Starscream returned his gaze to a specific point on the ceiling, his wings flicking rapidly with no set pattern.
Soundwave looked away, glaring at the ground. While he was mulling over the memory, Ravage requested to be let out. He pressed a button on his shoulder ( ‘Where Laserbeak and Buzzsaw used to perch’ , he thought with another ache in his spark), his chest cavity opening to let her out. Ravage hopped on the ground, stretching, before climbing up his arm to wrap around his shoulders. He scratched under her chin while she purred.
“You’re a good carrier, Soundwave. It wasn’t your fault.” She assured him, no doubt in her field.
He nodded, once.
“We’ll repair him and he’ll be good as new. Like nothing happened. Okay?”
He nodded again, “Affirmative.” He responded through the cassette bond.
Even if he didn’t fully believe that it was possible, he would pretend. For his cassettes.
