Chapter Text
MIMI
Mimi was just. About. SICK OF THIS!!!
This constant walking with these horrible, mean, rude monsters that she hated more than anything. Couldn't they just see she was only a girl? She wasn't built for fighting! At least not physically, she believed that she could be rather convincing in a verbal battle. But these dumb monsters didn't fight verbally! It's like, why even have the ability to speak if you're not gonna speak things that weren't stupid? Ugh.
But what made it all worse was the people she was stuck with. She hated them all, besides maybe TK, Sora and Joe. No, no, Joe was pretty annoying too, always afraid of everything... and for no reason seemingly, too. It's not like these monsters could actually HURT them. Mimi was too much of a perfect princess to willingly want to hurt anyways!
And the absolute worst thing of it all? Ugh, Palmon! Mimi saw how the other Digimon acted to their partners. They all seemed like they liked each other. So then why was Palmon always looking at Mimi weird and trying to explain things to her like she was a baby? Mimi was NOT a baby. If anything, Mimi thought Palmon should act more like her body guard. Mimi didn't like getting hurt, and she was sure Palmon could deal with a bit of pain. But ohhh nooo... Palmon was too self centered to care for anybody but herself! UGH!
She walked through the sewers, not really paying much attention to what the others were talking about. They sang together for a bit, which was cool, and then talked about what they all missed. They all seemed to laugh at Mimi when she said she missed her wardrobe, and that just pissed her off most. What, was she not allowed to feel uncomfortable in these horrible, stuffy clothes? The audacity of it all!
Whatever. Fine! They were all just dumb. Stupid coward idiot people. When they finally acknowledged her for the princess she really was, they'd regret it all- she just knew it. They had to!
But for now she just had to keep walking with the rest. To where? She didn't know. She didn't even care much to ask.
"Mimi, you're being awfully quiet."
Mimi snapped out of her thoughts, looking to Sora, who was speaking to her. Mimi noticed Motimon in Sora's hand and nearly laughed. Motimon was the freak little monster thing, IT should be picking up SORA. Or ideally, Mimi! Ah, but sweet little Sora would never ask such a thing. Too selfless for her own good, in Mimi's opinion!
Mimi shrugged and sighed. "Oh, don't even get me *started.* This is so drab! I hate that I have to get my beautiful chic shoes all dirty, and I hate how dirty and slimy these sewers are. Its like, totally too unpleasant."
"Ohh, unpleasant! That's probably the biggest word I've heard Mimi use yet." Tai snickered, TK and Agumon laughing along. Ohh, that annoying little--
Mimi huffed, and indignantly started to walk off, much faster than the rest. She heard Palmon yell something to her, but she brushed it off. She wanted to get out of these clowns faces as soon as she possibly could. She couldn't believe that she had to spend so much time with them.
And then Mimi felt something slap her in the face.
Mimi fell to the ground- more due to the pure shock than anything else, rubbing her face to see what had just been thrown at her.
Her face fell. She felt herself wanting to puke.
It may have been pink, with an odd sludge-like consistency, but that rancid smell...
"AHHHHHHHHH!"
Sora and Biyomon went to Mimi's side to make sure she was okay, and Mimi saw Palmon quickly run in front of her to fight whoever it was that just threw literal shit at her. Oh, finally, NOW they acted like bodyguards. When it was too late!!
"What in the world are those?!" Yelped the familiar wimpy voice of Joe. Mimi got up with the help of Sora, seeing what it was that Joe was referring to.
Hundreds, maybe even a thousand, of odd, weird, green, poop shaped creatures started to run at them.
What. The. Hell.
"Those are Nume--"
Mimi cut Tentomon off, screaming and leaving the rest in the high dust, running to the first sewer exit that she could find. She found a nearby ladder, climbing up it in record time, facing the sunshine. She took a moment to catch her breath, trying not to puke.
She heard the rest follow after her, heaving as they got to the sunshine.
"They shouldn't follow us out here," informed Gomamon. "They're afraid of the sunshine!"
Ugh. Reminded Mimi of the losers in her class, always stayed inside and looked disgusting.. agh she hated them!!
She flinched when she felt something brush up against her leg, but relaxed once she noticed it was just Palmon. "Mimi, you totally left us high and dry there.." Palmon complained. Mimi rolled her eyes. "Well, you're fine, right?"
Palmon didn't respond.
They took another moment to catch their breaths, before looking around at their surroundings. An ugly patch of grass in the middle of an ugly forest. Oh, how new and different. Mimi was starting to get sick of the repetition.
...is what she would have thought, if not for the vending machines she spotted down by that pond!!! She ran to them immediately, not caring enough to question why the hell they were there. All she really cared about was the fact that there could finally be food and drink!!! YES!!!
"There's millions of them!" called Matt, a scared Joe hiding behind him. Mimi found the image funny.
"I wonder if there's food!" Said TK, about to run to the vending machines to find out. Matt stopped him, carrying the back of his shirt. "TK, we don't know if it's safe." He said, and Patamon nodded, landing on top of TK's head.
Mimi didn't need their worries, though-- all she needed was some food! Running to the nearest vending machine that looked like it held something she wanted to have, she squealed. "Ohh, Palmon! Look at that! Finally, we'll get some food! Do you want some?"
Palmon groaned, taking a few steps back. "No, Mimi, I don't."
Mimi raised a brow, looking to Palmon. "Hey, yknow I'm offering to give up a quarter so I can get you something from here. You better be thankful! This doesn't just happen everyday."
But despite Mimi's 'comforting' words, Palmon still wouldn't comply. Mimi didn't understand why she looked so scared. What, it's not like the vending machine was one of those horrible poop Digimon secretly, right?
Mimi scoffed, rolling her eyes as she put in a quarter and got herself a soda. After a moment of nothing... the vending machine door opened!! And inside was..
No, it couldn't be..
Those eyelidless eyes, rolling around everywhere, only tethered by a long tendril of green, connecting to a green, slimy, melting body. That open mouth, revealing all the gums and clearly neglected teeth, paired with a tongue that just didn't seem to stay inside..
Mimi's face fell.
"Hey there, cutie!" It snickered.
"AHHHHHHHHH!"
Palmon yelped, running to Mimi's side- well, where Mimi would've been had she not just run away. In a moment of panic, Palmon kicked the Numemon as far as they could, with as much strength as they could.
"Boom! Ther--"
All the vending machine doors suddenly opened. Mimi nearly fainted on the spot. Palmon backed up to be near her.
"O-Okay.. well, we're safe given there's still sun over our heads, right..?"
PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE....
Palmon nodded. "Yeah! Yeah.. we're fine!"
And then clouds shrouded the sun.
A moment of dead silence.
Mimi shrieked again, probably the third time in a span of 5 minutes, and ran away, eyes closed. She heard their sludge being thrown around her. UGH! DISGUSTING!
She kept running, and running, and running, and running, and.. agh.. she was getting.. a bit tired now. She stopped after a moment, when she felt heat again and the light come back. She opened her eyes and looked around. Nobody. Nobody at all. Wait, where did the other humans--
"Mimi, why do you keep doing that?!"
Mimi turned around, seeing Palmon. Palmon looked angry. Nearly red from anger.
Mimi tilted her head.
"Doing what?"
Palmon looked at her, fully shocked for a moment, before laughing. "Leaving me all alone! Are you willingly TRYING to play dumb?!"
Mimi stared for a moment, then huffed. "Don't call me dumb.."
"Then stop acting it!"
Mimi honestly.. couldn't even understand Palmon right now. Didn't she understand that she just didn't want to get dirty by those disgusting Digimon? Palmon could protect herself, Mimi could not.
They were both silent, the silence becoming a sort of game for a moment- first to speak admitted defeat.
Palmon sighed, shaking their head. "I'm sorry, Mimi.. I just don't like being left alone. It feels like you don't care about me."
Mimi blinked. Once. Twice. Then looked to Palmon.
She had no idea how to respond to that.
"...alright. Never mind." Palmon relented. Mimi felt both thankful, and.. oddly guilty. Was she supposed to say something then? Why did Palmon look so sad? Mimi was silent still, though this time out of pure awkwardness.
After another excruciating moment, Palmon spoke up. "Wait.."
"What?"
Palmon looked around. "Where are the others?!"
Oh. Oh! Whoops!!!! Right! They disappeared! Mimi looked around again, this time seeing if she could spot them.
"Huh. I dunno."
"We gotta find them!"
But before Mimi could respond, they felt the ground shake.
"Uh oh.."
The two turned around, Mimi walking closer to Palmon, when they saw what it was that was making everything tremble.
It was huge.
It was yellow.
It. was. ADORABLE!!!
Mimi smiled as she saw the teddy bear looking Digimon, wanting to hug it immediately. Sure, it was big, but not like it was gonna hurt her or anything! Ahh, Mimi wanted one, immediately!
"What's that guy, Palmon?" She questioned, looking to her partner Digimon. Palmon did not seem to hold the same awe and wonderment as Mimi did, growling and getting ready to attack. Mimi frowned. Always the same with these Digimon, only fighting...
"It's called Monzaemon. Usually it's a good Digimon, it takes care of abandoned Digimon, but.. there's something about this guy that I don't trust. Get behind me, now."
Mimi rolled her eyes, ignoring Palmon. "Ohh, c'mon. He's a big teddy bear, what's the worst he's gonna--"
And then Monzaemon snatched the two of them up.
"We're goin' to Toy Town."
