Hey y’all!
Sorry for the four-month wait, though, I guess that isn’t too long compared to some other fics out there. I have some bad news and good news, depending on how you look at it.
First off, the bad news:
I’m discontinuing this story. I’m very sorry to any of you out there who might have (somehow) liked where it was going, but I just don’t. Dropping a whole squad of Spartans with ammo and a space-capable ship into a medieval world is cool and all, but it makes it difficult to write a notoriously antisocial group of self-sufficient super-soldiers interacting with the local peasantry. I had been mulling over Ch.3 for months now, trying desperately to make the interactions feel natural and reasonable for them, and I just can’t. I also found quite a few errors and odd story choices in the previous chapters, so I’ve made the decision to just cancel it now rather than try to salvage and edit it a million times over.
Good news:
I’m redoing the story with the same characters and general plot, but with some major changes that I think will make it better and easier to write/finish. Some aspects of said characters will change, but I’m not getting rid of anybody outright.
How will the story be different now? I’m glad you asked!
As before, Wojtek and J’aila will be the main characters, but how they both come about Skyrim will be a bit different. The most major change is that Wojtek will be going it alone for a good portion of the story. Don’t worry, you’ll see plenty of Khopesh Team throughout the story, but they won’t be seeing the world of Elder Scrolls themselves for a while. I also intend to shorten the chapter sizes a bit, seeing as 8-10k wasn’t working out. I find that I start to stall out at around 7k, an issue I’m also facing with another story I’m currently working on.
I like the name “Halo: Demons and Dragons” a bit too much to give up, so I’m going to reuse the name and just add a disclaimer that this version has been discontinued.
