Work Text:
Soldiers pass in front of Link,
After the years of living in Ul’dah
He was used to their presence in the city
But he wasn’t the only one there.
Gripping onto his arm harshly,
Nails digging into his skin through his clothes,
Pupils blown wide as can be,
Trembling from an intense panic.
His friend. His brother. His partner in crime.
Terrified and hurting,
And he can’t get rid of the soldiers,
No matter how passionately he wants to.
All he can do is this,
All he can do is turn Wind from them.
All he can do is grab his friends hands
All he can do is try to get the other to breathe.
To breathe through the memories,
To breathe through the pain,
To breathe through the fear.
To breathe out and know
That as long as his brother Four is here,
It will never happen again.
He will not lose his family again.
He will not be hurt by the Garleans or any soldier again.
“Four” will never let it happen.
Link will do anything to keep it from happening.
And the two of them will be okay
If not today then tomorrow.
