Chapter 2: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Today was a big day. Woonhak's classes started in a bit over a week and today she was finally joining her big sister in Seoul. She’d waited two long years and one summer for this moment.

But it's finally time.

She was impatiently waiting in the hallway for her dad to drive her to the train station. “Come on dad, hurry up !! I can't miss the train !!”

“Yeah I'm there, calm down sweetie.” Her dad came out of the living room into the hallway. “Ready to go ? Did you say goodbye to your mom ?”

She sighed. “Yes, I did. Like 20 times. Can we go now ?!”

Her dad laughed as he opened the door and walked to their car. She rushed past him. “You've put all my stuff in the car already, right ?”

He hummed as he got in the car and started driving off.

After a while, they got to the train station. Woonhak almost threw herself out of the car to get her two suitcases and backpack out of the truck.

“Are you that excited to leave the house ?”

“No. I just wanna live with unnie !”

Well that was half a lie. As much as she loved her older sister, she was not that excited to move in with her… She was just happy to leave her parents’ house, where there were so many restrictions on how she could play music.

Don't play too loud. You can only play the guitar and bass in the (stinky) basement, during school breaks. Don't make your own music.

She was sick of it.

But now, she would live with her sister on campus, where they have soundproof rooms just for students who play instruments. That was literally her dream—having a room where she could practice.

“Yeah right… Well it's time i tell you goodbye now… See you for Christmas right ?” Her dad said with this look in his eyes she never saw before.

She hugged him. “Yeah I'll try my best to bring unnie too !”

Her dad nodded awkwardly. “She'll probably want to stay with her dad, you know that sweetie…”

Yeah right. Jaehyun is only Woonhak's step sister. They have the same mom but Jaehyun's parents divorced when she was a baby and her mom quickly remarried. Despite Jaehyun hating both her mom and her step dad, she still loves her step sister very dearly.

“It's because mom is so mean to her ! That's her fault unnie won't come home.” She said harshly, making her dad shake his head.

“Now is not the time for this Woonhak you know it.” He sighs. “ You should get going now…”

Woonhak hummed before hugging him one last time. “Right… Well bye, see you for Christmas…” She walked away still upset as she pulled out her phone.

“Unnie, can I call you ?”

“Sure !!”

She immediately called her. The phone didn't have time to ring.

“Are you okay ?”

“Not really… I just had one of these weird moments with my dad…”

“Was it about me ?”

A few seconds pass.

“Woonhak…” She sighed. “I told you to stop trying… Your dad feels awkward around me and mom won't stop with her mean comments.”

“Yeah but i wanna celebrate Christmas with you again unnie… You've been alone for 2 years now !! Why don't you actually go to your dad ?”

“My step mom kicked me out, remember ? But unless you wanna celebrate in Seoul without mom, I can't do it with you I'm sorry…”

Silence again.

“Okay that's cool with me.

“What ?! Woonhak no !! You can't-”

“Yes I can. I'm an adult too now.”

“Woonhak, think about your dad…”

The younger sighed loudly “No I won't. Just- Whatever unnie i still have to decide, okay ? My train is about to leave. I'll call you back when I get there.” She hung up without letting her sister say anything. She still decided to text her sister once she was on the train.

“Sorry I'm just upset because of earlier… love u unnie <3 I'll be at the train station at ___ please pick me up !!”

She sighed as she put on her headphones and closed her eyes.

After a few hours, she woke up to the sound of the announcement for their arrival. She grabbed her stuff and got off the train. Still groggy, she dragged her feet toward the exit, eyes scanning the crowd for her sister.

There she was—looking around, dressed in her usual dress pants and shirt, brown hair falling beautifully over her shoulder.

“UNNIE!!!” Woonhak rushed to her sister and jumped into her arms.

The older girl stumbled a bit. “Hey! Be careful, I'm in heels, you ankle biter!”

“I'm taller than you!!”

“Not right now.”

Woonhak paused to look at her sister. She was right—her heels made her a centimeter taller. She huffed. “Whatever, I'm still actually taller than you.”

Jaehyun pinched her cheek. “Come on, don’t sulk so fast! Let’s go home now!” She grinned.

Home.

Woonhak missed that word. Woonhak also missed that smile.

Yeah, she was definitely going home now.

Chapter Text

Taesan was getting a new roommate today. She was not really excited, her previous roommate was horrible to her. Not only was she your typical mean girl, but she was also a raging homophobe. Taesan and that girl fought the whole year about Taesan’s love for women. She just hoped for her new roommates to be normal at this point. It was alright if they didn't become friends. She just wanted to live in peace.

Taesan got pulled out of her thoughts by the sound of the front door opening. She didn’t stand up from the couch and only slowly turned to the door. She saw a girl dragging a giant suitcase into her apartment. “God why is this so heavy…”

Taesan cleared her throat and stood up. “Do you– Do you need help ?”

The blonde girl looked at her. Her face was delicate and her features fitted together so perfectly. She dressed entirely in white. Her golden hair was tied with bows. She looked like an angel. Taesan stared a little, her eyes widening a bit. “This is quite heavy though… Are you sure you can carry it ?” She had one of those looks on her face. A look that made her look like she was not even aware that she existed. The kind that made Taesan weak in the knees. She realised she was just staring in silence. God she was so awkward.

She cleared her throat again. “Yeah, of course I can. Here !” She walked up to the girl and grabbed the suitcase. “Your room is this way… Follow me.” She walked to the empty bedroom while looking at the floor.  She, somehow, could not bring herself to look at her new roommate.

“I’m Leehan !” The blonde said with the brightest smile Taesan has ever seen.

She turned around to face Leehan. “I’m Taesan.” She smiled awkwardly, unsure if her smile was as good as Leehan’s. “Well I will let you settle now… I’m across the hall if you need me.” She shuffled out of the room and rushed into her room, slamming the door behind her.

She could breathe again. When did she start holding her breath ? She was just anxious about meeting someone new, that was all. She was anxious about her roommates being another hater, just like her previous one was.

A few hours pass. Taesan was sitting on the floor in her room. She’d been painting for a while, headphones over her ears

There was a knock on her door. She almost missed it. “Yeah ?” She spoke a bit too loud due to the music playing in her ears. The door opened. Leehan was just standing shyly in the doorway.

The blonde hesitated. She looked around the room. Her gaze stopped on the flag hung on the wall. It was a pride flag. It was a lesbian flag to be precise. Taesan started to get anxious. Leehan was still staring at the flag. Her gaze slowly drifted to Taesan. The latter opened her mouth to talk but she was cut off by the long breath of relief Leehan let out.

The blonde smiled just like she did a few hours before. “I wanted to share my pronouns with you and ask yours as well !” Oh that was why she was staring at the flag… “I go by she/they so yeah that’s all…”

Taesan stared once again, a little stunned. She was not expecting this. “Okay it’s fine, I don't care. Wait ! No, I mean I don’t mind ! Sorry.. Um.. I go by she/her by the way…”

Leehan laughed. Her laugh did not fit her cute appearance. It was quite loud to be honest. But Taesan enjoyed it anyway. “Okay well that’s great ! You’re a 2nd year too, right ?”

Taesan nodded, causing Leehan to smile again. “Great, we can be friends then !”

This made Taesan snicker a bit. “Yeah I guess we can…”

“You’re an art major, right ?” Leehan took a step into the room.

Taesan shifted on her pillow a bit. “Yeah… What about yours ? What is it ?”

“I study marine biology !” She said with her cheeky smile.

“That’s cool…” Taesan fidgeted as Leehan explored her room. Neither of them spoke. It felt weird, but not in a bad way. Taesan felt like she was warming up to Leehan. This time Taesan was the first to speak, asking a random question. It still got a conversation going, exactly what she was aiming for.

Leehan was right. They were definitely going to be friends.

Chapter Text

Woonhak had been in Seoul for a week. Her room was fully decorated. She finally felt like she had a place to call home and she loved it.

She was just sitting on the couch, her sister’s head on her lap, as they watched some stupid show. Woonhak didn’t really enjoy it but Jaehyun seemed to love it for some reason. It was some cheesy romance, at least she thought it was. She was not really watching. She was actually on her phone, looking for dance clubs near her school. But they were all so far.

“Unnie do you know if they got dance clubs around here ? This is driving me insane !” She whined and kicked her feet.

Jaehyun chuckled. “Our university literally has one ! Why are you making it harder than it needs to be ?”

“What ?! Really ? Oh my god why did you not tell me before ?” Woonhak whined again.

She didn’t look away from the TV and shrugged. “You never asked. I didn’t think you’d still want to dance after coming here…”

Jaehyun was kind of right. Woonhak loved dancing but she liked creating choreos more than learning them. Maybe joining a club would be a bit weird. But she wanted to make friends and joining a dance club is a perfect way to do it.

She sighed before finally answering her sister. “I just wanna get into dancing a bit more… Maybe it will help me with my music.”

Jaehyun sat up quickly. “Wait, you actually make music now ?! Not only playing the harp “

The younger grinned widely. “Yeah I finally decided to get into it !”

“You have to let me hear what you’ve made so far !” Her eyes were shining. They always were when Woonhak told her about her achievements or her passions.

That is why Woonhak feels so close to her. Jaehyun had always been this way, constantly looking at her little sister like she hung the moon. It made Woonhak feel so loved. It made Woonhak love her sister so dearly. She wished she loved like Jaehyun, loudly and purely.

“I will show you later, don't worry.” She tried to act nonchalant. “You’re the one who inspired me to start making music… You kept saying it’s important to do what you wish for and you’re studying to become a lawyer now, so… I’ll become a big producer !”

This made Jaehyun smile softly. “Of course you will ! You’re awesome Woonhak. You will become such a great person when you grow up.”

“I’m already grown up unnie !!” Woonhak sulked and whined loudly.

“Yeah right…” Jaehyun smirked. She knew her sister hated to be babied. Or at least she pretended she did.

“Unnie, did you finally find a significant other ?” Woonhak snickered. She loved to bring up her sister’s love life when the latter brought up her age. The oldest sister was a hopeless romantic. Despite having a very serious appearance, she was a huge loser. She loved romance and wished to be in a cliche relationship.

However, she was single. Woonhak knew it. But she loved to tease her sister.

The older girl sighed. “No. I have not. For my defense, I’m too busy to look into dating anyone and you know that !”

“I’m just teasing unnie ! I know how important your studies are to you. But I’ll still find you someone though !” The youngest sister had the most mischievous smile plastered on her face.

Jaehyun rolled her eyes. “What do you even know about love, huh ?”

They kept going back and forth for a while. A long while. They always did.

A few doors down the hall was a more calm duo. Well it was hard to be louder than the two sisters. But Leehan and Taesan were very quiet. They did talk from time to time. But they were so careful around each other. Taesan didn’t dare to speak too loud, afraid she might break the blonde haired girl. And Leehan, she was just soft-spoken. Well she tried to be, she was scared she would drive her roommate away if she showed her true self so soon.

However, that day Leehan had to reveal a small part of herself to Taesan. She had to warn her, at least. She needed to talk about this strong passion of hers. This obsession, some would say.

Her fish obsession.

As cliche as it sounded for a marine biology major, Leehan loved fishes more than anything. And the next day she was finally getting her fish tank into her dorm. But she needed help bringing it in. So she needed to confess now.

So here she was, walking to the kitchen. Taesan was currently cooking dinner for the both of them. She had been doing it for a few days now.

Leehan cleared her throat. “Taesan ?” The other girl didn’t turn around. She just hummed, to show Leehan she was listening. “I have to confess something…”

This caused Taesan to finally turn. “Confess ? What did you do ? Don’t tell me you used my toothbrush !”

“What ?! No ! Why would I ? Who would even– Whatever ! No, I wanted to tell you I have a fish tank… But I need help getting it inside our apartment.” Leehan quieted down the more she talked.

Taesan stared at her blankly. Well, she always did—Leehan didn’t know why though. But, for once, it’s like she was confused. “That’s all you wanted to say ?”

“You don’t think it’s weird ?”

Taesan stared some more before laughing as she turned to the stove again. “No, it would be stupid ! You study marine biology, it would be weird if you didn’t have one !”

Leehan looked at her stunned. She stared at Taesan as she stood there.

“When will you need help ?”

Leehan stumbled on her words a bit. “Oh– Um… Tomorrow…”

Taesan hummed once again. “Will you help ?”

“Of course I will be Leehan.” She smiled over her shoulder. “Sit down, we will eat soon.”

Leehan noticed her smile was less awkward than on the day she moved in. She did as her roommate asked. “So… What are you making for tonight…?”

“Kimchi stew.”

Silence settled between them for a few minutes before Taesan spoke up again.

“What fish do you have…? Not that I know anything about fishes…” She stirred the soup slowly as she looked over her shoulder.

Leehan’s eyes instantly lighted up. “Wait ! Are you serious ? You wanna listen really ?”

“Yeah. I like to hear people talk about their passion. And you clearly love fish.” Taesan chuckled.

Well this was awkward. How would she know ? Leehan never mentioned anything about fish besides her major.

“I saw your room decorations Leehan. You have posters on your walls. You hung shiny jellyfishes on your ceiling. Don’t make that face, come on. It’s… Endearing ! Wait, do the jellyfishes serve as lights at night ?”

The blonde nodded slowly.

“Oh that’s cool. Must be pretty.” Taesan nodded as well.

“I could show you after dinner…”  Taesan stopped breathing for a few seconds. She had never fully seen her roommate’s room so far, only glimpses while her door was slightly left open. Leehan had seen hers. More than once. She kept knocking on Taesan’s door to ask her all types of stuff.

Taesan didn’t dare to do the same though, afraid she would disturb the angel she has as a roommate. “You still haven't answered my question though… What fish do you have ?”

Leehan smiled awkwardly. “Right… Well I only have my corydoras ready to move here right now… But I'll probably get more soon.”

Taesan hummed to show her interest but let Leehan rant about her fishes some more. After a while, their dinner was finally ready.

They’d barely started eating when Leehan spoke again. “Your hair looks so cool by the way”

Chucky pink and white highlights were scattered across Taesan’s black hair, fitting her grudge-like style.

Taesan bit back a smile. “You really think so…?” She ran her hand in her hair, trying to look nonchalant.

“Yeah, it fits you so well !” Leehan gave her one of her flashy and cute smiles.

Pink dust found its way to Taesan’s cheeks. “I did it last week… You know, for the new school year… I'm glad you like it.”

“Do you change color often ?”

“Every month or two I guess…” Taesan was getting shy for some reason. She was not expecting Leehan to be so interested in her hair.

Leehan gasped. “Can I pick your next color ?” She then stopped suddenly. “Or it is weird because you've only known me for a week…?” Her voice got quieter as she spoke.

This made Taesan stumble on her words. No one ever asked her this. How was she supposed to answer ? “Um… Sure I guess… No one really ever picked my hair color for me…”

They shared an awkward eye contact.

Taesan started to slowly smile, soon followed by Leehan. The latter then started to giggle.

“Well I will pick well then !” The blonde grinned brightly.

She kept questioning Taesan as they ate, both of them getting more comfortable with each other.

Taesan would have told you they were getting close. Leehan would have told you they were close already, friends even.

Chapter 5: Chapter 4

Chapter Text

Woonhak was running, she was late for her first day at the dance club. Her last lecture of the day took longer than it was supposed to. She wished she could have just walked out, however there were only fifteen other people in her class. And she needed to keep playing her instrument too. There was no way she could sneak out discreetly. How could the only harp player even sneak out ?

So there she was—running across the art department of her university. She finally reached the club’s room. She slowly opened the door, slipping her body into the room silently. Music was blasting loudly as people were warming up or talking with each other, there were not that many people to be honest. That surprised Woonhak. The school has a dance department so why was the dance club so small ?

The loud music stopped abruptly. Damn, someone saw her ! A loud silence filled the room for a few seconds, before a playful voice broke it.

“Here is our new member ! I thought you bailed on us !”  Woonhak snapped her head toward the source of the sudden sound. She was greeted by a short ginger girl who looked, weirdly, very excited.

“No no ! Um… My last class took longer than expected… I’m sorry I’m late…” Woonhak said all this while panting and stumbling on her words. The ginger girl smiled softly at her.

“It’s okay, don't worry ! It’s not like there are many of us anyway. I’m Riwoo, the leader of the club !” Riwoo was right. There were not many people present, she first thought most people were just absent or running late but after what Riwoo had said it just looked like the club only had a few members.

Woonhak looked around for a bit before speaking up. “Um… I'm Woonhak… Nice to meet you guys…”

“Surprised by the numbers of members huh ?” A guy spoke up.

“No that's not-” Woonhak gestured her hands around, causing all the people in the room to laugh.

The guy pushed himself off the floor, getting up to continue warming up. “You know you don't have to lie, right ? We were all surprised when we first joined !”

Riwoo hissed at the guy. “That's Kazuha. Don't mind him !! But he's right… Most dance majors are only ballet dancers so…”

“You guys do ballet too or…?

Kazuha nodded. “Yeah ! That's the only dance we're taught in this school unless you join this club. That's why no one joins us.”

Riwoo rolled her eyes. “Whatever, let's start practicing !”

Riwoo was suddenly so fierce. She locked in so fast.

At that moment, Woonhak knew she was exactly where she needed to be.

An entire week of classes passed, Woonhak and Riwoo grew close and often left practice together—-they live on the same side of the campus. However, today they were not going home directly after practice. Riwoo wanted to eat and Woonhak had to join her sister, so there they were going to one of the coffee shops on campus.

“Unnie, I have to present my sister to you ! You’re both the same age.” Woonhak said while jumping a bit, she was weirdly excited to just join her sister.

Riwoo chuckled. “Sure, I guess.”

Woonhak kept jumping around. “You two will get along well ! Um… Also she’s studying right now so don’t mind if she’s a little bossy or something…” She giggled as she walked ahead, clearly not bothered that she was about to disturb her Jaehyun’s study session.

Meanwhile Jaehyun was not studying. Well she was studying but surely not her lessons. She was “studying” the barista’s face. No actually she was just shamelessly staring at her. The girl’s hair was so dark and so straight and so long, Jaehyun could tell that she had never seen a hairdresser.

Jaehyun was staring so deeply, struck by her beauty and the way the black haired girl was deep into a study session despite being on shift. How could she even remember what she was learning ? Jaehyun just wished she could do the same. She also wished she had the courage to go up to her and ask her something or just order more coffee, anything to get her attention really. She had noticed the nametag on her apron when she ordered her coffee and pastry. Sungho. It’s so pretty just like her. Maybe she should tell her that. She would do it if she had the confidence to. She’s usually quite flirty, but at that moment she could only stare until the other girl noticed.

Well she did notice. Jaehyun didn’t know that, she was too far gone to see Sungho had been glancing at her since she walked in. Sungho was very grateful for the lack of customers today, she was able to study or pretend to study while looking at that girl who had been staring at her ever since she walked in 30 minutes ago. Should she go up to her ? Ask her if she needs anything like a normal and not flustered barista would.

She was pulled out of her daydreaming by two customers coming in. The bell above the door rang loudly, a ginger girl and a blue haired girl walked in. They had such a big height difference it shocked Sungho a bit. The taller one was calling the other “unnie” though, she would have assumed the blue haired one was the oldest—-just because of her height.

Before they even reached the counter the taller one rushed to the girl who had been staring for so long.

“Unnie ! Come I need to show you my new friend ! You’re gonna love her I promise !” She then dragged the brunette to the counter, placing herself in between the two older girls. “So Riwoo unnie this is my sister, Jaehyun ! Unnie this is my dance club friend I told you about, Riwoo !”

Sungho stood there awkwardly, she clearly was not supposed to be witnessing all this. She did not have to know Jaehyun’s name.

She cleared her throat. “Welcome to her cafe ! What can I get for you ?”

This caused all of us to stare at her now. The ginger chuckled. “Right. Sorry my friend is a little too excited. Um… I’ll have an iced americano with a donut please.” She turned to the girls next to her with a sweet smile, letting them talk.

This caused Jaehyun to stumble on her words. She could not possibly ever fumble in front of two pretty girls. She cleared her throat but still struggled to speak. “I got everything already… Since I’ve been here for half an hour already… Because you know I was studying and all…”

This was so bad. How could she fumble this bad ?!

“I’ll have a hot chocolate please !” The youngest grinned.

The brunette snickered. “Are you four or something ? Like seriously hot chocolate ?” She was clearly teasing her sister. The presence of her sister made her more relaxed and at ease.

“You can go sit down, I will bring you your drinks.” Sungho said before turning around to make their drinks.

The three girls returned to Jaehyun’s table.

Riwoo decided to start the conversation. “So Jaehyun, what's your major ? Are you into a form of art like your sister?” She leaned in a bit as she spoke.

Jaehyun’s mouth went dry. She knew her sister noticed when she saw her smirking as she leaned back on her chair. “I’m studying to be a lawyer. I’m not creative like Woonhak…”

“Oh wow ! A smart and powerful woman ! Love to see it !” Riwoo bit her lips unconsciously, which made Jaehyun blush.

Woonhak suddenly laughed at the interaction, causing the two older girls to look at her.

“What’s up with you, ankle biter ?!”

She scoffed. “Nothing… Just you two are… Funny ! Yeah, you guys are really funny ! Also I’m the tallest here !”

Her sister rolled her eyes while Riwoo looked at them confused.

“What ? It’s true y’all are kinda… Too flirty for a first meeting…”

Riwoo scoffed lightly. “Woonhak we’re not flirting. It’s just adults speaking, you wouldn’t get it.”

“Hey ! Don’t say that I’m not a baby unnie !”

“You are a baby Woonhak !” Jaehyun aggressively squished her sister’s face.

“Stop that Jaehyun !” This only made her continue and laugh loudly.

“I’m glad I found someone to baby my little baby sister with.” Jaehyun smiled at Riwoo.

“I hate this ! Why are you doing this to me ?!” The youngest whined loudly while Riwoo just snickered at their antics.

After a bit more of their back and forth, Sungho came up to their table with their order. “Here’s your order. Enjoy !” She smiled softly while looking directly at Jaehyun.

This made Woonhak raise an eyebrow, her eyes went back and forth between the barista and her sister for a few seconds before speaking up. “Do you two know each other ?” She gestured between the two girls.

Jaehyun glared at her sister. “Why would you even say that ?! Of course not, we don’t know each other.”

“Yeah she’s right. I have never met her before.”

Woonhak narrowed her eyes, clearly suspicious of something. “Okay maybe but you two definitely look at each other like you know one another more than well… Right Riwoo unnie ?”

Riwoo leaned on the table, resting her chin on her palm. “I don’t think so… But you do seem to see things where there’s nothing Woonhak.” She ruffled the youngest’s hair, making it messier than it already was.

Woonhak sat back in her chair, crossing her arms while sulking. This made Sungho chuckle lightly as she walked away.

Sungho definitely wished to see them at the cafe again. And Jaehyun definitely loved coffee after that day.

Chapter 6: Chapter 5

Chapter Text

Leehan was waiting for Taesan outside of the art department building. They had planned on going out because Leehan needed to study but didn't want to try a new place on her own. Taesan had offered to accompany her today to look for a good study spot on campus and near their apartment.

While she was waiting, two girls walked past her. They looked like they had just run a marathon and they were each carrying a large bag. They were both wearing sweatpants, one was wearing a hoodie and the other was wearing an open flannel on top of a white tank top. The one with the hoodie was very loud and skipping around.

“Unnie, hurry up Jaehyun unnie is waiting for us !”

The ginger girl only playfully rolled her eyes before picking up the pace. They disappeared in the distance as Leehan kept waiting for her roommate.

She waited there a few more minutes before Taesan finally came out. She seemed out of breath and had paint on her clothes, hands and face. Leehan smiled at her messy appearance but tried to hide it with her hand.

“Did you run to get here or something ?” The blonde giggled from behind her hand.

Taesan looked away, avoiding Leehan’s gaze. “No, why would I run ?”

“Yeah… Right… Let’s go then !” Leehan smirked a bit before she walked off.

Taesan followed suit in haste. “I swear I didn't run Leehan ! Why would I even run ? Have you ever seen me run ?”

Leehan playfully rolled her eyes. “You literally ran out of our apartment this morning because you were late for class ! But whatever you say I guess…”

“Yeah whatever ! What’s that place you wanted to try ?”

“There’s this cute cafe near our apartment complex ! It’s very calm apparently and it’s also pretty ! I thought you could draw while I study so you know you don’t get bored…” Leehan looked away as pink dust settled on her face.

“That’s very thoughtful of you… Thanks ! But you know I would have found something to draw away or I would have found something else to do !”

Leehan just shrugged and they kept walking in silence before she spoke up again.

“Do you know you got paint all over you ?”

“Yeah my clothes get stains, it's fine they wash off.” Taesan brushed off her roommate with a simple smile, happy that the other girl cared about her in that way.

“No, not only your clothes… There’s also… You know…” Leehan pointed at Taesan’s face.

“WHAT ?! Fuck they told me I was clean when i asked-” She started to rummage through her bag and ended up pulling out baby wipes and a mirror.

She mumbled as she frantically cleaned her face. “They always do this ! Ugh this is so annoying ! My eyeliner is getting ruined… Fuck-”

This made Leehan giggle. Taesan narrowed her eyes at her.

“What’s so funny huh ?”

The giggly girl tried her best to stay serious. “I never heard you so mad before that’s all. That’s pretty attractive I guess.”

She didn’t mean much by this but it meant a lot to Taesan, even if she pretended it didn’t. She actually acted like she never heard the last part and spoke up again.

“I don’t get mad often but… I look like a fool and you’re literally the only one who told me…” She sighed.

“Acting like you’re ugly or something ! It just shows you’re an art major, nothing is wrong with that !”

This left Taesan a bit speechless. “I- Never said that first of all ! And I just didn’t want you to see me looking like a mess…”

“Yeah, right… Whatever we’re here !”

They had finally reached the coffee shop. When they entered, they were greeted by a calm and warm atmosphere. The room was pretty small; there were only six tables in total.

There was one girl sitting alone at a big table and two girls ordering at the counter. Leehan thought the two girls in front of them were the one she saw earlier while waiting for Taesan, but it didn’t really matter so she started to think about what she was going to order.

She tugged on Taesan’s sleeve. “What are you going to order ?”

Her roommate turned to face her. “Anything with caffeine, I just need something to boost my energy right now”

“Tough day ?” The blonde smiled sweetly. The other girl just nodded before she sighed.

“What about you, huh ?”

“A matcha latte ! With muffin !” She said with a grin.

The girls in front of them turned around to go sit down after they finished ordering. Leehan was sure now, they were the two girls she saw leaving the art building earlier. The tall one suddenly gasped.

“Taesan unnie ?!”

“Woonhak…?”

Leehan and Riwoo each looked at their own friend in pure confusion. After a few seconds of silence, the ginger girl spoke up.

“You know each other ?”

Leehan snickered. “Clearly they do, since they know each other’s name…”

Riwoo opened her mouth before closing it again. “Right…”

“Taesan unnie helped me when I was lost on my first day ! And since then we’ve been talking every time we see one another.”

The barista laughed. “Of course you got lost on your first day…”

“And of course you’re friends with the barista of the coffee you always go to !” Taesan chuckled.

The youngest huffed and puffed as she walked to her sister’s table. “Whatever ! You can join us once you’re done ordering if you want. You too, Sungho unnie ! I know your shift ends soon !”

Riwoo bowed before she trailed after the blue haired girl.

The barista giggled a little before getting serious again. “Welcome ! What can I get you ?”

“I will have a matcha latte with a muffin please.” Leehan smiled brightly.

Taesan cleared her throat before speaking up to order as well. “I’ll have a caramel macchiato please.”

“Alright, you can settle down, I will bring these out for you !”

The roommates nodded before walking to the table where Taesan’s friend was sitting.

“You actually like matcha ?”

Leehan gasped in mock shock. “Yes, I do ! It’s very good ! And it’s healthy.”

The art student rolled her eyes and mumbled under her breath. “Tastes like grass…”

“Hey ! I heard that !” The blonde bumped into her roommate with her shoulder as they reached the table. This made Taesan bite back a smile.

“So Woonhak do you care about making presentations or are we supposed to figure it out ?” Jeahyun leaned back in her chair, very happy to tease her sister.

“Okay so this is Taesan and um… Wait… Leehan, right ? You two are roommates !”

“You don’t know her ?!” Jaehyun sat up all at once, it made Riwoo snicker from her seat beside her.

“Well, no. I only know Taesan… But Leehan is nice ! Taesan said she is at least…” The youngest scratched the back of her head awkwardly.

Leehan smiled at the mention of Taesan talking about her to the younger girl. It made her feel a warm feeling in her chest.

“Whatever ! Ugh ! So Taesan, Leehan… This is my sister, Jaehyun, and this is my friend from the dance club, Riwoo ! Oh also the barista is Sungho ! She’s our friend too !”

“Stop saying everyone is your friend, you got here less than 3 weeks ago !” The brunette hit her sister behind the head.

“Unnie ! Don’t fucking hit me !” The youngest hit her sister back.

As the sisters bickered, Riwoo turned to the second years and giggled. “Just ignore them, they’re always like this.”

They both nodded and right on cue Sungho arrived with all of their drinks.

“Here for you guys !” She placed five drinks on the table and sat down.

This pulled Jaehyun out of her fight with Woonhak. “Finally done with your shift ?”

“Yeah ! Nice to meet you two.” She said as she smiled at Leehan and Taesan.

From there they all learned a lot about each other, getting along really well. They all agreed on hanging out more before parting ways.

And they did, they spent the rest of the month alternating between hang outs all together and study sessions at the cafe.

Chapter 7: Chapter 6

Chapter Text

It was a Saturday in mid-October, and like clockwork, the friend group was gathering at the sisters’ apartment. It had become a habit, every Saturday they would gather either at the sisters’ or the second years’ apartment.

That night was no different. Woonhak was setting up the living room by taking out cards and board games, and putting pillows and blankets on the floor. Meanwhile, Jaehyun was taking care of bringing snacks and drinks to the living room.

As Jaehyun was putting the last bottle on the table, someone knocked at their door. Woonhak ran to open the door.

“Sungho unnie ! Come in !” The blue haired girl dragged her in as if she had never been here before. The older girl chuckled as she sat down on one of the pillows laid out on the floor.

Soon after, Leehan and Taesan arrived as well with Riwoo trailing not far behind them.

Riwoo sat at one of the ends of the table with the siblings on each side. Meanwhile Taesan sat on the opposite end with Leehan, who was leaning back on the couch, on one side and Sungho on the other.

“You guys can just make your own drinks !” Jaehyun gestured over the table.

They all mixed various alcoholic drinks and settled comfortably with pillows and blankets.

Woonhak suddenly spoke up, very excited. “We never played truth or dare together before ! Let’s play that tonight !”

“Okay but dares are kind of… I don’t want to do that .” Taesan scratched the back of her head.

Sungho smiled softly and patted Taesan’s shoulder. “How about just truth or drink then ? It would be a good compromise and we’ll get to know each other even better.”

They all made some sort of noise to show their agreement.

“Then it’s settled ! But let’s all answer each question so it’s funnier that way !” Jaehyun smirked, very proud of her idea. And once everyone agreed, they started to play.

Woonhak sat up in haste. “I’ll ask the first question ! What’s your most recent internet search ?”

“What kind of question is that !?” Her sister almost spat her drink.

“Just answer, unnie. It’s the rule.”

Leehan was the first to speak. “It’s some fish encyclopaedia I need for class.”

“It’s literally for your own pleasure, don’t lie, Leehan !” Taesan snickered and poked at her roommate.

Leehan quickly hit her with the pillow she had on her lap as she blushed very lightly. “Stop making fun of me and tell us yours !”

“No, I’m not saying shit !” No way she could admit her most recent research was “How to know if you have feelings for someone”—and she didn’t even understand the answer. She downed half of her glass, more than necessary, but she definitely needed it to survive this game.

“Hope you know that’s very suspicious…”

“Well, tell us yours then, Sungho !”

“I’d rather not…” She did have an image to uphold after all. She took a sip of her drink, clearly way more reasonable than the girl sitting next to her.

Taesan burst out laughing. “Hope you know that is very suspicious.”

Sunho rolled her eyes and turned to Jaehyun, waiting for her answer.

“Me ? It’s some murder case from 20 years ago ! The dude killed his whole family and all.”

“Unnie ! What the fuck is wrong with you !?”

“You’re the one who asked the damn question !”

“Yeah because I was expecting normal everyday stuff or some kinky shit, not THAT !”

Jaehyun rolled her eyes at her sister. “That is everyday stuff for me !”

“Whatever you two ! What about yours Riwoo ?” Leehan asked softly to the ginger.

“Oh me ? Lesbian porn.” She shrugged, saying it like it was the most normal thing in the world.

Her response was followed by giggles, sound of someone spitting out their drink and then absolute silence.

“What ? I answered the question.”

Woonhak stopped her giggling session with Leehan. “Well, you surely did !” The youngest started to wiggle her brows while looking at Riwoo.

On the other side of the table, Jaehyun was still wiping the dripping alcohol from her face as Sungho patted her back. As weird as it might sound, the oldest girls seemed to be the most shocked by their peer’s answer.

“Y’all, it’s perfectly normal. Jaehyun, you're so dramatic ! I bet you do the same so why are you so shocked ?”

Jaehyun almost choked again. “That’s none of your business.”

“Yeah right…” Riwoo leaned back on her arms and smirked..

“Riwoo, stop making it weird ! It’s clear that Jaehyun unnie is so pure and delicate. She would never !” Taesan snickered, very happy to make the brunette blush and stir more.

Leehan giggled before finally saving Jaehyun from her embarrassment. “So I’ll ask the next question ! Have you ever laughed so hard you peed?”

“What kind of question even is that, Leehan ?!”  Riwoo managed to say as everyone burst out laughing.

“Just answer !” The blonde just smiled brightly, proud of the question she just asked. She hid behind her hand to giggle.

Taesan patted her head. “Right, let’s just answer their question. Personally, I never laughed so hard I peed myself.”

“Yeah, same. I didn’t even know that was an actual thing…” Sungho said softly but still trying to hold back her laughter.

“I have.”

“Yeah, me too !”

Of course, this had happened to the sisters before.

“I knew you two would say yes !” Leehan sat up excitedly.

“Why admit it though ? You could’ve just drunk.” The black haired girl’s gaze kept going back and forth between the sisters.

Jaehyun turned to her and chuckled. “This is a yes or no question, Sungho. Drinking would just sell it…”

The other girl nodded. “How did it even happen ?”

“Oh well it happened more than once… But mostly when we were trying to sneak around the house at night to do things we weren’t allowed to do !” The youngest said very nonchalantly.

“Yeah once we were cooking at midnight and the food burned and all. And then we kept making stuff fall. Because of all this, we just ended up peeing ourselves.” Jaehyun nodded as she spoke.

All of their friends kept laughing as they spoke, making the apartment filled with laughter.

Leehan was the first to gather herself. “What about you Riwoo unnie ?”

“No, these two weirdos are the only ones who could do that.”

Woonhak hit her with the pillow that was next to her, soon followed by her older sister.

This went on for a while. Someone asked a question, then they all answered and they teased each other about their response. They kept going for so long the drinking penalty was long forgotten and they simply asked questions to each other as they sipped on their drink from time to time.  They talked about simple things : their dating life, their hobbies and more.

Woonhak had been quiet for a few minutes, which is very out of character, before speaking up hesitantly. “So none of you are straight…?”

The youngest had a sad look on her face, but not like she was disappointed. Her sister sighed, she seemed to know what the youngest’s issue was but she remained silent.

Riwoo was the first one to speak up. She seemed very unsure of what she was going to say as she opened her mouth, but she spoke up nonetheless. “From what I’ve gathered so far… Yes, no one here is straight. Unless you are ?”

The end was really just a question. Since Woonhak had been silent for a while, she didn’t say anything about her dating life or preferences. She drank each time a question remotely related to relationships was asked.

At that exact moment they all stared at Woonhak, except for Jaehyun, all expecting a response from her. They had shared so much but she hadn’t. They wanted to know , being curious in this situation was completely normal.

However Woonhak only shrugged. This was not what they expected. They were ready for anything, going from a sudden coming out to her being a raging homophobe. But this was not part of their plan.

They looked at her confused.

“Are you aromantic then ? Or asexual maybe ?” Leehan tilted her head, trying to see Woonhak’s face—the latter had started to look at her lap the moment they all looked at her.

The blue haired girl kept shrugging, confusing her friends even more. Jaehyun thought about intervening but didn’t even know what to say, and she surely did not want to speak for her sister.

Silence settled in the room. The living room, which was filled with their laughter and talking a few minutes prior, was dead silent. It was not a comfortable silence. It was the most awkward silence any of them had encountered in their entire life. The air was full of confusion and misunderstanding.

As much as this was not a big deal, because Woonhak’s orientation is none of their business, her silence was making this a bit weird. A simple “I don’t want to tell you” would settle it.

Jaehyun finally decided to speak, rescuing both her sister and her friends from this awkward conversation. “Woonhak, you know you can trust them. But if you don’t want to, which is also fine, you can just tell them.”

The youngest finally looked up, giving puppy eyes to her sister. It was like she was pleading with her, almost asking her to solve everything for her. The older simply shook her head.

This made Woonhak sigh as she straightened up. She hesitated before finally speaking. “Okay so… The thing is I never experienced anything remotely romantic so i have no clue what I am or how I am supposed to find out.”

Silence again.

“Yeah that’s normal. It takes time to discover everything about yourself.” Sungho said softly, looking at the blue haired girl with compassion.

But this only made Woonhak frown. “But why do you all have it figured then ?”

She sounded almost angry now.

Taesan sighed. “We’re all older than you. And even if we were the same age, everyone goes at their own pace you know.”

The air finally felt lighter but Woonhak still seemed bothered.

“I’ve told all of this to her before but she just doesn't listen.” Jaehyun rolled her eyes.

“I can’t trust you ! You like everyone ! You crush on any remotely attractive and nice person you meet unnie !”

Muffled giggles and laughs could be heard as Jaehyun blushed. “The call out is so uncalled for, young lady. I’m trying to help you right now.”

“Wait ! No, I want to know more now. Jaehyun is a hopeless romantic huh ?” Riwoo leaned on the table, fully turning to Woonhak and ignoring Jaehyun who was trying to tell her it wasn’t important.

“Yeah ! Jaehyun always has tons of crushes but barely dates anyone. She’s kind of a loser now that I think about it.”

Leehan giggled as she collapsed onto her roommate from laughing too much. The latter spoke up. “Here I thought you were a baddie… Wait what are you then unnie ? You know if you catch feelings for so many people.”

“It’s just silly crushes ! Woonhal is making it sound like I’m some desperate loser ! Also, even if it’s none of your business, I’m pan.”

“This just makes sense actually.” Riwoo leaned back, resting her full weight on her arms stretched out behind her.

Jaehyun narrowed her eyes. “What the fuck is that supposed to mean ?”

The ginger grinned. “You just look pan, I guess. In a good way, of course ! Or maybe I got a good gaydar…” She said the last part more quietly, almost talking to herself.

“Bet you’re a lesbian unnie ! Right Taesan ?” The blonde nudged her roommate.

Jaehyun rolled her eyes. “So we’re just playing “guess my sexuality” now ?”

The roommates shrugged. “Sounds fun to me. Also yes, Riwoo unnie has to be a lesbian.”

Riwoo chuckled and raised a brow. “Did your lesbian senses tingle because you met your own kind ?”

“Yeah, I guess they did.”

Woonhak’s gaze went back and forth between them before turning to the girl on her left side. “What about you then, Leehan unnie ?”

“You have to guess !” She ruffled the younger’s hair.

Jaehyun finally decided to take part in the guessing game. “You have to be bi or pan since you shared stories with both men and women.”

“I think she’s bi.”

Riwoo frowned. “You don’t know ? Even though she’s your roommate ?”

“Why would I?”

“Well she seemed to know you’re a lesbian…” Riwoo mumbled loudly.

It made Leehan giggle. “I saw her pride flag the day we moved in together. But I don’t have one, so she can’t know anything.”

Riwoo nodded.  “So what’s the answer ?”

“Why so curious, unnie ? I’ll start to think you’re interested.” The blonde said before giggling.

Riwoo shook her head. “Sorry, Leehan, but you’re not my type, honey.”

The younger rolled her eyes playfully and faked a pout. “Unnie I’m so upset… Woonhak,  please save me from this mean woman !” She collapsed on the girl on her right.

“Riwoo, don’t upset them ! That’s so mean !” She played along perfectly.

As Riwoo and the three youngest bickered, Jaehyun turned to Sungho and spoke quietly. “What about you ?”

“What about me ?” Sungho tilted her head slightly, looking at the other in confusion.

“What are you? Everyone else answered. Not that you have to! It’s totally okay if you don’t—just… it’s also okay if you do… Anything is fine !” She stumbled so hard on her words that Sungho snorted.

It’s a sound Jaehyun had never heard or imagined hearing from the black haired girl. But she loved it nonetheless, it made her smile.

“I don’t like to label myself. It’s only confusing for me to try to figure it out.”

Jaehyun hummed in understanding. “You should tell that to Woonhak.”

She turned to look at her sister, she was smiling brightly as she shielded Leehan from Riwoo with her entire body—clearly committed to whatever joke they had going on. “But maybe not today… She’s finally cheer up. Let’s not bring that up again.”

And with that, the night continued—filled with laughter, teasing, and warmth. Woonhak’s moment of doubt was long forgotten.

Chapter 8: Chapter 7

Chapter Text

It was October 23rd, the day before was Riwoo’s birthday and three days before that was Leehan’s birthday. Neither of them had the opportunity to celebrate it with the friend group as everyone was busy with lectures, studying, practice or part-time jobs.

Leehan was lying on the couch wondering if she should ask the others if they wanted to eat out for Riwoo’s and her birthday. She was debating on if she should ask Taesan for advice. Before she even noticed, Taesan was sitting on the floor in front of the couch, looking at her roommate with that look she always has when staring at Leehan—the one that made Leehan feel seen and appreciated.

“What’s up with you, huh ?” The taller one said as she nudged the other.

Leehan bit her bottom lip before speaking up. “Do you think the other would say yes if I asked them to go out for my birthday ?”

“Of course, they would ! They adore you, Leehan !”

The blonde hummed, still unsure about if she should offer going out to the rest of their friends.

“Don’t worry too much.” Taesan patted her roommate’s leg in the most comforting way she could. “Also I wanted to ask you something…”

Leehan finally looked at her, staring right into her eyes.

Taesan looked down at her lap quickly. “I got this assignment in one of my classes… We need to draw someone in their everyday life… And I thought I could draw— Maybe I could draw you ? Since you know we’re roommates… And I see you everyday… It’s okay if you don’t want to ! I just—”

Leehan sat up excitedly, clapping her hands as she smiled widely. “Yeah, that’s so cool ! No one ever asked me that before ! Well maybe because I don’t know any other art major besides you… But anyway, yes, I’d love to !”

Taesan could finally breathe, she wasn’t even aware she was holding her breath, but she almost gasped for air when Leehan said yes.

“Well, then, I’ll probably just draw you randomly I guess… Like at any moment of the day. If that’s okay ?” She finally looked up as she said the last part.

Leehan simply nodded and before she could verbally answer, her phone made a bubble noise.

It startled Taesan a bit, despite the fact they had been roommates for almost two months now. That bubble sound was Leehan’s notification sound, and despite hearing it everyday, multiple times a day, Taesan still jumped at the sound. And like every time, Leehan laughed loudly. That obnoxiously loud laugh Taesan had become fond of.

The blonde picked up her phone to check what it was. It was a message from Jaehyun, sent to their group chat.

Woonhak had insisted on making one last month for “easier communication”. She had meticulously collected all their phone numbers, created the group chat and named it “SKRRRR (change it later)”. However it was soon renamed by her Riwoo to “Later ? I hardly even know her !”. And it unfortunately never changed as they couldn’t find a decent name.

Leehan smiled at the dad joke, like she always does, before opening the message.

“myungjae : we're going out tonight

myungjae : cant say no.

woonhak : come to our apartment now to get ready

myungjae : see yall there !!

woonhak : its for ihan’s and riu’s birthdays

woonhak : + sleepover after :D”

Leehan chuckled at the way Woonhak spelled their name. She had a habit of creating new spelling for people’s names. Last week, Leehan had discovered she was named 21 in the youngest’s phone. Something to do with her name sounding like the numbers apparently.

“We need to go to the sisters’ right now !”

Taesan frowned in confusion. “And why is that ?”

“Read the gc !” Leehan answered as she jumped over the couch to rush to her room. She had to find a great outfit and pack her bag for their sleepover.

After around 20 minutes, Taesan peeked into her roommate’s bedroom. “You’re still not done ?!”

Leehan, who had almost fully entered her tiny closet, emerged from the white furniture. “You’re already done ?!”

They stared at each other for a few seconds before Taesan spoke up again. “Leehan, you look good in anything, just pick something and let’s go ! Jaehyun is blowing up my phone right now !”

“Okay ! Okay ! I’m coming ! Oh my god !” She mumbled under her breath as she shoved a bunch of clothes and makeup  into a bag. Taesan started to walk to the front, it made Leehan curse as she stood up in haste grabbing the big bag and her tiny purse.

She almost fell as she got in front of the shoe rack. “I hate you, hope you know that.” She said as she slipped her shoes on.

“No, you don’t. And we both know that.” Taesan grinned as she patted the other’s head.

The latter rolled her eyes as she grabbed a pair of shoes from the closet of the entryway before opening the front door.

“Why are you bringing so much ? Are you moving there or something ?” Taesan raised a brow as they left their apartment. She was only carrying a backpack, which didn’t seem full.

Leehan scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Maybe I should.” She closed the door behind them.

Taesan tried to hold back her laugh, she wasn’t intimidated by the other. She managed to hold it well as they quickly reached their friends’ apartment since it was down the hall.

“You know I was kidding, right ?” Taesan leaned on the wall as Leehan was taping the code on the door.

Jaehyun had given it to them the prior week because Leehan had forgotten her wallet at the apartment and both sisters were too busy to return it to her.

The latter simply hummed before opening the door. “Yeah ! I can’t expect a masc to understand the pain of actually getting ready.” She grinned at her roommate over her shoulder as she entered. Taesan followed as she playfully rolled her eyes.

“I’m not even a masc. You’re so annoying…” She mumbled the last part.

Leehan chuckled as she took off her shoes. “I know, I just want to annoy you. And guess what ? It worked !”

A voice suddenly erupted from inside the apartment. “Hurry up you two ! We’ve been waiting for so long !”

They hurried into the living room. They were greeted by absolute mess. Clothes were scattered on the floor and makeup palettes and containers were splayed on the coffee table.

Taesan raised a brow. “You waited ?”

“We actually did but Woonhak decided to create this mess while trying clothes on.” Riwoo pointed at the youngest.

“Right…” Leehan mumbled as she tried to make her way through the clothes.

Jaehyun stood up and clapped her hands. “Let’s get ready ! I hope your outfits are club worthy or else I’m dressing you myself.”

“God, I’d rather die.” Her sister dramatically collapsed on the couch.

Jaehyun threw a pillow at her before leaving for her room. “I’ll get changed. You can change in the living room if you want but if you don’t there is the bathroom and our bedrooms.”

Leehan rushed to the bathroom with her giant bag after she threw her purse somewhere in the room.

“What’s her deal ?” Riwoo chuckled.

Taesan shrugged. “She’s happy to celebrate her birthday I guess.”

“I’m going to change too !” Woonhak said as she picked up the ton of clothes discarded on the floor before disappearing in her room.

Taesan settled on the floor in front of the couch and opened her bag.

Riwoo, who was sitting on the floor in front of the couch, looked at her unpacking her clothes and makeup. “Are you gonna change here ?”

Taesan hummed. “Leehan takes ages to dress so the bathroom is unavailable. I bet Woonhak is the exact same.”

“Jaehyun too. Have you seen how she usually dresses ? No way she doesn’t take at least 20 minutes just to put her clothes on.” Sungho added with a snicker.

Riwoo sighed. “Guess I’m changing here too then…”

Taesan started to undress just like Sungho and Riwoo. None of them was really paying attention to the others as they were busy getting ready so it wasn’t awkward.

Taesan put on the outfit she had planned which consisted of a torn rock band tee with distressed shorts over fishnet tights, a flannel tied around her waist and worn-out converses.

Once she was dressed, she looked over at her friends to see if they were done. And they both were. Both of their outfits, despite being drastically different, were absolutely gorgeous.

On one side, Sungho had a very classy and elegant outfit, consisting of a halter top with a maxi skirt and strappy kitten heels. She had started her makeup, keeping it simple.

On the other side, Riwoo was making more of a statement with her outfit—showing off more of her figure with an asymmetric one-shoulder crop top and low-rise parachute pants accompanied by Jordans. She was stacking rings on her fingers as the small sunglasses perched on her head were sliding down.

“Unnies ! You two are beautiful !” She smiled as she spoke.

Riwoo grinned. “Thank you ! So are you Taesan.” Sungho expressed her agreement but was cutted off by Woonhak loudly coming out of her room.

She was wearing an outfit close to her usual style : baggy low-rise jeans and an oversize football jersey with chunky vans.

“If someone saw you, they’d never guess you major in classical music…” Sungho chuckled.

Woonhak rolled her eyes before Riwoo asked her to come closer. The older stood up to face her. “There’s no way you’re going like this. Let me fix this a bit.” She grabbed the hem of the jersey and tucked it into the youngest’s bra. “Here ! You serve a little more this way. Right ?” She turned to the other girls in the room as she said the last part.

They both smiled and nodded. “Thanks, unnie.” She sat down in front of the couch and started doing her eyeliner.

Taesan did the same, opting for smudged eyeliner and faded lipstick.

As she was doing her makeup, she could see Leehan coming out of the bathroom in her small mirror.

When she turned around, the air was knocked out of her. She had never seen her roommate like this. It was so close yet so far from her usual style. The colors and ruffles were the same but the aura was completely different.

Leehan was wearing a ruffled baby pink mini skort with an off-shoulder blouse and heeled Mary Janes. The part that really made Taesan’s legs weak was the lace thigh highs.

She didn’t even realise she was staring until Leehan sat next to her to do her makeup, putting on soft peach blush on her cheeks and nose and shiny gloss on her lips, and curling her long lashes.

They all started doing their makeup and putting on their accessories as they joked around and helped each other from time to time. Five more minutes passed before Jaehyun came out of her room.

This time, it was Riwoo’s turn to get absolutely blown away. She had always thought Jaehyun was gorgeous, but with this outfit, she was almost like a goddess.

Riwoo stared her down, shamelessly checking her out. She had a hard time looking away, way too mesmerized by the unusual amount of skin Jaehyun was showing.

The brunette was wearing an unbuttoned blouse with matching pinstripe mini skirt and blazer. She was holding high stilettos in one hand and her blazer in the other.

She nonchalantly threw her blazer over her shoulders as she sat down next to Taesan, right in front of Riwoo.

Leehan whistled at the girl who just entered the room. “Unnie, you’re so hot !”

The others all made some kind of noise of agreement, except Riwoo. She was just sitting there , speechless and still staring with her mouth agape.

The brunette looked at her up and down before opening her mouth. “You look good Riwoo…” She leaned over the table and reached for her face. “But, please darling, close your mouth. You look like a fish.” She pushed the ginger’s chin up with her index.

The latter’s brain simply short-circuited. She had never imagined Jaehyun, the hopeless romantic and loser of their friend group, could be this hot. Sure, she looked good everyday. However, she never looked this hot and sexy.

Riwoo quickly looked away, pretending to put on makeup. It made Jaehyun’s chuckle as she grabbed a bright red lipstick to apply it on her lips.

“You guys should bring jackets, you know.” Jaehyun said as she looked at her friends. They were all showing a lot of skin and it had been cold at night for the past week.

Woonhak scoffed and rolled her eyes. “And ruin our outfits ? Yeah, right…”

They spent around 45 more minutes putting on their makeup and touching up their hair.

“Are you all ready ? You got everything ?”

They all nodded or hummed as they grabbed their purses, except Woonhak and Taesan. Woonhak had given her wallet to her sister earlier, so she simply shoved her phone into her pocket. Meanwhile Taesan just shoved her hands into her pockets.

Sungho raised a brow at her. “You don’t have a purse ?”

“No, I have pockets.”

“You got the tiniest pockets ever, just take a purse !” The black haired girl scoffed at the younger’s behavior.

“It’s fine, unnie. I will just take her stuff if needed.” Leehan smiled softly.

Taesan rolled her eyes. “With that tiny purse of yours ? No way.”

The blonde nudged her. “Okay. You’re banned from my purse, asshole.” She mumbled the last word.

“Whatever ! Taesan’s bad choices shouldn’t affect us. Let’s just go now !” Jaehyun clapped her hands together before opening the door and ushering everyone out.

The night was going to be very long, Jaehyun thought to herself as she locked the front door.

Chapter 9: Chapter 8

Chapter Text

There was a light breeze blowing, which is very unfortunate as the girls had been waiting in the queue outside the club for 20 minutes. The cold quickly took over their bodies, they started to shiver one by one.

“I told you guys to bring jackets.” Jaehyun was the only one who was not shivering, despite wearing a mini skirt.

“Unnie, share your jacket with me please !” Woonhak pleaded for her sister’s mercy. But she only got an eye roll.

“Not with the sass you gave me earlier. Come here Sungho.” She scooted near behind the black haired and draped herself over her.

Woonhak frowned and cursed her breath. Next to her Riwoo bit her lips and crossed her arms tighter, eyes darting toward Jaehyun wrapped around Sungho. Her jaw tensed.

Before she could think of a plausible answer, it was their turn to enter the club. They all showed their IDs one by one and finally got invited in.

Heat, sweat, liquor, and bass slammed into them the second they stepped in. Jaehyun leads them to the table she had reserved for them. As they navigated through the crowd of intoxicated and horny people, at least ten different guys hit on them. Riwoo flipped them off as Sungho pushed her forward.

After battling drunk people, they finally reached their table.

“We have to get shots !”

“No way. Sip on a cocktail like the grown woman you are, Riwoo.” Sungho rolled her eyes in fake annoyance.

Riwoo scoffed and leaned back on the leather couch. “Girl, it’s my birthday ! If I say we are getting shots, then we are getting shots.”

“It’s also Leehan’s birthday. Let’s ask her if she wants to do shots maybe ?”

“Shots are fun, let's do it !” The blonde grinned, causing Sungho to sit back and sulk.

“Let’s just get a bottle then !” Riwoo said excitedly.

Once they got their bottle, they filled up six shot glasses. Woonhak grabbed two extra glasses and filled them up as well.

“What the fuck are you doing ? There’s only six of us here.” Taesan chuckled, amused but very confused.

Woonhak smirked mischievously. “Extra shots for the birthday girls !”

She pushed the glasses across the table and picked up her own shot.

Riwoo chuckled and chugged both shots in a row. She was followed quickly by her friends.

They were casually speaking about their week, the bottle already half empty, when Riwoo suddenly stood up.

“I love this song we literally have to dance !” She slurred a bit on her words, already tipsy—she was definitely a lightweight.

“I’ll come with you !” Jaehyun chuckled as she stood up and followed her to the center of the room.

The ginger pulled the brunette by her hand, getting her close but still keeping her distance, and started to dance. There were so many people around them Riwoo kept being pushed around, almost falling multiple times. As she felt someone’s elbow hit the back of her head, she was pulled forward by an arm wrapping around her waist. Her gaze met Jaehyun’s—their faces were only centimeters apart.

“Be careful, Riwoo. The birthday girl can’t get hurt.” Jaehyun whispered in the shorter’s ear.

Riwoo looked down in haste, her gaze accidentally fell on Jaehyun’s chest. She bit her lips before looking up again. At that moment, it felt like time froze completely. The colorful flashing lights were lighting up the taller’s face, letting Riwoo take in every single one of her features. She had the most sincere smile and her eyes were shining brighter than usual.

The ginger’s mouth went dry as she stumbled back. “Yeah… Um thanks.”

She blinked a few times before she started to dance again. This made Jaehyun chuckle lightly before wrapping her arm around her friend’s waist to pull her in for a dance.

Riwoo’s whole body was tense, her mind was telling her so many things at once—and most were not appropriate at all—but she will blame it on the alcohol.

“Hey ! Loosen up, darling. I don’t bite.” Jaehyun giggled into her ear.

That sound was such a sweet melody to Riwoo, it instantly made her relax. She hesitantly wrapped her arms around the other’s neck, leaving almost no space between them. As they danced, she avoided eye contact as much as she could but her gaze kept going back to her friend’s breast. The brunette’s unbuttoned blouse kept moving as they danced, letting her lace bra peek out. It had Riwoo absolutely mesmerized, as much as she tried, she couldn’t tear her eyes away.

Meanwhile, the table was filled with giggles. The two youngest were recording the scene from a distance. The blonde

nudged her roommate as she snickered.

“Do you think they will kiss ?”

Woonhak scoffed loudly. “My sister is oblivious and all bark no bite. There is no way.”

“No, they will. Look at Riwoo unnie, she looks thirsty.” Taesan chuckled before sipping on the cocktail she had just ordered.

Sungho stayed quiet, observing the whole thing go down. “I don’t think watching them is the best idea…”

“Unnie, don’t be boring !” Woonhak whined loudly as her camera shutter kept going off.

Taesan was staring off in the distance—not looking but pretending she was. The loud music and people’s screams were getting overwhelming. The sound of a phone being put down on the cold glass table pulled her out of her thoughts. She turned to the source of the sound and met her roommate’s eyes.

“Are you alright ?” The blonde looked worried, her eyebrows were pushed together as she leaned forward slightly.

Taesan nodded as she rubbed her eyes. “It’s a bit loud but it’s fine. Don’t worry, Leehan. Just have fun.”

“I can’t have fun if I know you aren’t feeling well…” The younger’s bottom lip jutted out.

It made Taesan stare at her lips. They were shiny, the glitters of the gloss applied an hour before sparkling under the purple light. The feeling of someone touching her thigh pulled her out her thoughts, again.

“Taesan ? What’s going on ?”

She looked down at the hand and pushed it away swiftly. “Everything is fine I promise.”

The blonde simply hummed, sceptical. She opened her mouth to speak again but a loud laugh interrupted her.

They all turned to the source of the sound.

All they saw was Jaehyun holding Riwoo by the waist as she laughed like the brunette was the funniest person on Earth.

“No way my sister is that funny…”

“She’s just drunk, come on.” Sungho rolled her eyes at the youngest.

Leehan leaned to whisper into Taesan’s ear. “More like she’s just down bad…”

The other girl tried to hide her laugh as her friends that just came back scooted on the couch next to her.

Woonhak leaned on the table and wiggled her brows. “So you two had fun ?”

“Your sister is such a good dancer !” The ginger slurred out with a giggle. She waved her hands around messily before resting one of them on Jaehyun’s thigh.

The brunette’s muscles tensed up as she looked around to see if anyone had noticed the gesture. Taesan was looking straight into her eyes before looking down at her lap. Jaehyun shot her a pleading, begging for her to keep quiet. She was not ready to be teased about this, not when she secretly enjoyed it.

She didn’t move away nor did she make a move to get close, she simply stayed still. At least she tried to. She jumped slightly when Riwoo accidentally squeezed her thigh while sitting up to lean on the table. She bit back a whimper and cleared her throat to cover it up.

Her eyes met Taesan’s again, the other girl was smirking. Jaehyun begged with her eyes again, desperate. She did not want her friends to know she was this easy. Her friend nodded before looking at the blonde girl whining next to her.

“This is boring. Only Riwoo unnie is drunk right now ! Let’s order more.” She huffed and puffed while crossing her arms and sitting back.

“Leehan, you don’t need to get drunk to have fun. You won’t even remember anything if you get drunk.” Taesan said in her usual calm voice, a hint of a smile barely hidden.

“But unnie…” Leehan whined as she batted her lashes at her roommate. The latter’s brain short-circuited, the loud, overwhelming music fading into the background—drowned out by her spiraling thoughts, or complete lack thereof.

Unnie

Leehan had never used this word for her before. After all they were the same age, there was no reason for her to use it. However, it made Taesan feel sick—she was nauseous and her stomach felt icky.

“Come on, unnie ! Let's relax !” The blonde tugged on her shirt as she pouted.

Taesan cleared her throat as she came back to reality. “Okay, fine.”

She was trying to avoid meeting her roommate’s gaze. Unfortunately, she met Jaehyun’s. She had the widest grin plastered on her face, a revenge for earlier.

She glared at the brunette, a warning. Don’t you dare. The other shrugged before nonchalantly wrapping her arm around the ginger who was lazily leaning on her.

Riwoo instantly melted, her heart beating fast as she got that dizzy feeling. However, she didn’t lose her composure, even sliding her hand in between her friend’s crossed legs. She didn’t really have dirty thoughts at that moment, it was like a habit, an unconscious response from her body.

The brunette tried to stay calm about it as they started to drink more. Fortunately, the more she drank the easier it was to stay nonchalant about the hand snuggled between her thighs.

As the night went on, they took turns staying at the table and going on the dancefloor.

At some point, Riwoo and Jaehyun ended up alone at the table while their friends were dancing not far away. The ginger could barely stand anymore, so the other girl decided to keep her company as she sobered up.

Riwoo was sipping on her water while leaning her head on Jaehyun’s shoulder.

The air between them was thick, it had been this way ever since they danced together earlier that night. The ginger was nibbling her bottom lips, trying not to say something she would regret. However, Jaehyun noticed it and ruined her plans.

“Hey. Don’t bite your lips, they get ugly.”

“Oh yeah ? Because they’re pretty right now ?” Riwoo looked up at her friend, with hooded eyes—not from lust but from the alcohol.

The brunette’s gaze flickered to her lips before going up to her glittering eyes. “Yeah, very pretty.”

They were already so close because of their original position but Riwoo leaned even closer—enough for Jaehyun to feel her warm breath on her skin.

“Are you planning on kissing ? Or are you getting shy now , dear ?” She had whispered the last word, making sure Jaehyun was the only one who could hear.

Dear .

It pushed Jaehyun over the edge. She leaned forward until their lips touched, closing her eyes at the impact.

Their kiss was full of lust, lacking any other feeling.

For Jaehyun, at least.

For Riwoo, she was pouring all the things she hadn’t had the courage to say when she was sober earlier that day, when she had seen Jaehyun in this gorgeous outfit.

As they fought for control, Jaehyun’s bright red lipstick mixed with Riwoo’s shining pink gloss leaving behind a smudged combo of both.

Before either of them could assert dominance, they heard a snicker—sending them as far from each other as possible on the small leather couch.

“Having fun without us ?” Taesan smirked as she sat down.

The two girls in front of her were looking at their lap like kids being scolded.

This made Taesan burst out laughing. “I’m joking ! Gosh you two aren’t as brave as you seemed just now.”

Before they could find a snarky remark for their friend, the rest of the friend group came back. Taesan discreetly motioned for them to wipe their lips, in vain as the two girls were too flustered to notice anything. The ginger was hiding behind her cocktail, while the girl next to her was looking away from the table—acting like absolutely nothing happened, like her face was not flushed red.

“Guys, Leehan is completely wasted. Let’s go home now.” Sungho gestured over at the blonde girl. The latter’s body was hanging off Woonhak, barely able to stand.

Taesan glanced at her roommate as she sighed. “I’ll carry her.”

She stood up and untied her flannel from her waist. “Hey. Leehan, look at me please.”

Leehan slowly looked up at her, her eyes heavy due to the alcohol, she groaned as she tried to stand straight. When she realised Taesan was the one speaking to her, her face lit up instantly—her eyes wide-open and shining under the club lights. She managed to slur out a few words. “Unnie ! Hiiii !”

“Yeah, hi. I’m not really your unnie but sure…” Taesan mumbled to herself as she wrapped her flannel around her roommate’s waist. The drunk girl used this opportunity to slump onto her friends.

The latter scoffed before picking up the other on her back with a grunt. “Okay, let’s go. Quick before she starts to realise what’s going on.”

The rest of the group hummed as they grabbed each other’s hand to get out safely.

The way home would definitely be a struggle. Leehan was almost unconscious. Woonhak was jumpy. Riwoo was still yearning for Jaehyun. While the latter was just clingy to whoever was the closest. Taesan was thankful for her oldest friend who was still somewhat conscious and normal despite being tipsy.

Chapter 10: Chapter 9

kinda short sorry but bigger chapters are coming soon !!

Chapter Text

The 15 minutes walk back to the sister’s apartment took 30 minutes because of the various stops made so Leehan could puke and the multiple times Sungho had to run after Woonhak, who was trying to wander from her friends.

“I can’t believe it took us this long to get home !” Sungho immediately crashed on the couch, followed closely by Jaehyun—who was still visibly drunk.

The brunette laid her head on her friend’s lap and whined. “Woonhak was literally so annoying ! It’s all her fault !”

“Hey ! It’s literally not ! You’re such a b-” The youngest rushed toward the couch, probably with the intent of wrestling with her sister. Before she could cross half of the room, Taesan picked her up with one arm—she was still holding Leehan on her back with the other.

“Let’s just not. You go change into your pyjamas now. And bring Riwoo with you. Help her change” Taesan redirected Woonhak toward her room. The youngest opened her mouth to protest but she was only met with a cold glare. She grabbed the ginger’s arm and bag before dragging her into her room.

“Sungho, is it okay if you help Jaehyun to change ? I’ll take care of Leehan.” Taesan finally put her roommate down, sitting her on the couch as she groaned from back pain.

Jaehyun jumped up and slurred out messy words. “Yeah ! Sungho come with me ! I’ll show you my room !”

Sungho cursed under her breath as she picked up her bag from the floor and trailed behind Jaehyun.

“Alright, Leehan. Let’s get you changed.” Taesan sighed as she grabbed her roommate’s bag before kneeling in front of her.

The blonde hummed as she threw her head back and kicked off her shoes.

“Okay. Let’s do this. It’s not weird at all.” The sober girl mumbled to herself.

She started by taking off her friend’s thigh highs. Her gaze lingered more than necessary on the blonde’s legs but she quickly shook her head to snap out of her thoughts. She gently tapped the other’s hip as she softly spoke up. “Leehan, you have to help me there. Raise your hips for a bit please.”

The blonde groaned as she slowly raised her hips. Her roommate gently pulled down her skort before pushing down her hips on the couch again. She stood up to help the other take off her top, struggling a bit—a blouse was definitely not the kind of clothes she usually wore.

“Okay, now, I’ll get you dressed. Wait a few seconds, I have to find your pyjamas.”

She rummaged through the other’s bag, ignoring the various makeup and skincare products. When she finally found the clothes she was looking for, she was met with a tank top and tiny shorts.

“Who the fuck wears-” She sighed to stop herself.

“It’s cute, no ?” Leehan looked down at her lazily.

Taesan put on the fakest smile ever. “Yeah, sure. It’s cute. But maybe a bit impractical and uncomfortable…” She mumbled the last part as she helped the blonde put on her clothes.

Once she was done she swiftly changed into a band tee and paint-stained plaid pyjama pants. “I’ll check on the others. Just stay here, alright ?”

The other nodded as she rolled on the couch. Taesan winced before walking to Woonhak’s bedroom. But before she could knock, the door flew open. In front of her were standing Riwoo and Woonhak, one in a plaid boxer shorts and cropped tank top and the other in batman pyjama pants, an oversized t-shirt and fuzzy bear slippers. The younger’s hair was messier than when they all entered the apartment.

“I am never changing Riwoo unnie while she’s drunk ever again.” She knocked shoulders with Taesan as she walked past her.

“Did you two wrestle or something ?” Leehan giggled from her seat on the couch as the youngest laid her head on her lap.

“Yes, we did. She’s so- Whatever !”

The blonde kept giggling as she tried to fix Woonhak’s hair.

Taesan sighed as she walked to Jaehyun’s bedroom, a bit terrified of what might be hiding behind the door. She knocked nonetheless and she was told to come in by Sungho.

When she entered, she was greeted by Sungho wrestling with Jaehyun to make her wear pants. The latter was only wearing an oversized hoodie with their university’s name on it and ranting about how she never wore pants to bed.

“Unnie, it’s okay. Just give up and change. Jaehyun unnie, help me bring your mattress into the living room. Come on !”

The older groaned before standing up to help her friend.

Once the living room was changed into a big dormitory—couch and coffee table pushed against the wall, three mattresses placed next to one another on the floor and pillows and blankets all over the room—they all settled on the makeshift beds.

The living room was too small to leave space between the mattresses so they were basically sharing one giant bed. Leehan and Taesan were on the first mattress, Riwoo and Woonhak on the next and Sungho and Jaehyun on the last. However, Woonhak was placed between her sister and her club member  to stop them from giggling and being loud while everyone else was trying to sleep.

After a while they all fell asleep—Leehan holding onto her roommate’s arm, Riwoo and Woonhak tangling their lambs together—except Jaehyun and Sungho. Sungho was staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep for some reason.

“Sungho ? Are you still up ?” The brunette whispered. The other could feel her hot breath pressing on her cheek.

“No, I can’t. “

“Yeah, same.” The black haired girl could feel the other shifting around next to her.

“Stop stirring ! You’ll wake up the others.”

“Then talk with me. I’m bored !” Jaehyun whined as she tugged on her friend’s silk pyjama top.

“Fine ! But be quiet, oh my god !” Sungho turned to her side, face only centimeters away from Jaehyun’s.

The latter grinned before she started to go on a rant about something Sungho couldn’t remember, because she wasn’t listening. She was staring at her friend’s sparkly eyes, she could barely see anything but the moon was illuminating up Jaehyun’s face perfectly. The brunette’s face was partially lightened up, letting Sungho catch a glimpse of her friend’s grin and making the latter’s eyes sparkle.

Sungho snapped out of her thoughts and started to reply to Jaehyun after she felt the other shift a bit closer.

They kept talking until they both slowly fell asleep around the same time. That long talk had turned into an emotional and heartfelt one, making them closer than they were before. Sungho fell asleep at peace, feeling thankful for finally having her “special person” in the group. She had been feeling left out since the rest all had a duo before.

But, after that night, it was all solved.

She had Jaehyun.
