Work Text:
Lee Felix, league of legends extraordinaire, famous streamer, and part time coffee shop worker, had the best idea ever.
For months now- he had been trying his very best, working his damn tail off, to court omega Hwang Hyunjin. He stayed up late at night after ending a live stream to stare up at his ceiling and come up with a battle plan. He spent long hours at the coffee shop staring at the window and pondering what would woo someone like Hyunjin when he should have been serving customers.
But now- now he finally had the perfect idea. What better way to court Hyunjin than to invite him to the new cat cafe in town?
When Felix messaged Hyunjin to invite him, the other omega seemed tentative but agreed anyway after a convincing heart emoji from Felix’s part.
Felix could only assume it was because Hyunjin had bad dating experiences in the past- while Felix himself hadn’t dated anyone before or courted them, he knew that Hyunjin was a hopeless romantic. A helpless romantic who sometimes fell for the wrong people that didn’t seem to see him like the rest of them did.
Like Felix did.
Hyunjin was also, apparently, very oblivious.
But Felix was confident that he would woo him for sure! Sweep him off of his feet. Seduce him.
Felix arrived at the cat cafe early to claim the best seat for the both of them. Luckily- it wasn’t too packed since it was a weekday and busy after the normal lunchtime rush from nearby businesses.
Felix and Hyunjin both had unorthodox jobs that allowed them more free time than others, which meant they could plan visits at peaceful times while the rest of their friends worked.
The table he picked was in the corner of the cafe, in front of the windows so that they could people-watch like they always did. Close to the large ceiling high scratching post that a dozen cats peered at Felix from.
He smiled and waved at the kitty cats but didn’t approach them. He would let them come to him first. They reminded him of Hyunjin.
Sitting near the window, Felix could see the exact moment that the omega opened the front door, the little bell above it ringing cutely- though not as cute as the person who walked in.
Hyunjin must have just finished a project because he had a light blue paint stain on his light washed jeans and his dark hair was pulled back into a half ponytail, a few strands escaping to frame his face. He looked cozy in the fluffy purple sweater, now that summer was coming to an end and it rained recently.
Felix would get him all to himself. One day.
He watched, a bit starstruck, as the employee at the front desk went over all of the safety rules of the cafe, to which Hyunjin politely nodded along, signed a consent form, and then bowed once the woman handed him a menu and a brochure with all of the cats names and bios printed out.
Up for adoption. Cute. Maybe Felix could buy him a cat? And then they could take care of it together and fall in love. That was how it always worked in the dramas, at least.
When Hyunjin finally opened the small gate to enter, Felix scrambled up to pull a chair back for him- like a true gentleman- before returning to his seat. Hyunjin hesitated only a little before settling down in the seat, his big dark eyes taking in the entire cafe.
It was cute. It was quaint. Just the type of place that Felix thought he would like. There were only a few other customers sitting opposite of them. The walls were painted cute pastels, potted plants hung from the ceiling, and the floors were littered with fluffy blankets, beds, and cat toys.
He felt his chest puff with pride when Hyunjin took it all in with wonder, staring at a particularly curious cat that looked right back at him from her perch on the cat tree. “Cute, aren’t they?” Felix asked, leaning his cheek against his hand.
He wasn’t talking about the cats.
“Huh- they really are,” Hyunjin smiled fondly in a way that made his eyes turn to crescents and Felix nearly ascended to the heavens. “Did you order anything yet? I didn’t get the chance to look at the menu when I was signing the safety waivers.”
“Ah- I decided that I would wait for you and we could order together?” Felix suggested- because while he could have ordered the cute pastry that Hyunjin would have liked, he didn’t want to make any brash decisions just yet.
“Sure,” Hyunjin hummed as he opened the laminated menu so that they could both look at it, pushing the small potted flower at the center of the table gently to the side.
Today- he was wearing silvery rings that clinked together, matching the teardrop earrings, and Felix was so enchanted by the way that his lithe fingers worked over the menu that he easily agreed with everything Hyunjin suggested without even processing it.
“Sure. That sounds good.”
“And a pastry on the side? I’m not too hungry, but you can get a full meal if you want. It won’t bother me.”
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll have whatever you have.”
“…are you sure? I didn’t think that you liked the sweet fruits that much?”
“I like whatever you like.”
“Oh…okay?” Hyunjin quirked his eyebrow, his thick bottom lip jutting out slightly with his confusion. Felix wanted to kiss it. “Do you even know what I just said?”
“Wh-what?” Felix stuttered. “Of course I do!” He had been caught red handed. Luckily, before Hyunjin could ask him to repeat their order and silently watch him suffer, a server collected their menus and dutifully wrote down everything that Hyunjin told her.
And yeah, Felix didn’t like fruits as much as Hyunjin. He much preferred the savory to the sweet snacks. But he would eat it anyway with a smile on his face as long as Hyunjin was enjoying it.
So he didn’t complain when they got their yogurt with fruit, blueberry muffins, and chai tea lattes. Hyunjin hummed happily as he sipped on it just like he always did when he thought that something tasted exceptionally good.
“If you like this place then we can keep coming back?” Felix suggested, taking a spoonful of yogurt and forcing himself to eat it. Hyunjin looked up at Felix over the rim of his plastic cup, those naturally narrowed eyes of his training on Felix. The thing that Felix liked most about them was the cute beauty mark underneath the left eye.
“This is nice,” he agreed with a small sniffle as he set his drink down, “we can come back.” He used his fuzzy sweater sleeve to wipe at the bottom of his red nose and Felix offered him a napkin.
“Are you having allergies?”
Hyunjin looked at him strangely. “Yes,” he admitted, slowly. “But I should be fine as long as I stay sitting right here.”
Felix blushed bright red because… was that a flirt? Did Hwang Hyunjin just flirt with him?! He tried to contain his absolute giddiness and not to look as smitten as he felt.
They chatted for what felt like the most blissful hour of his life as they finished up their small meals. Hyunjin politely asked Felix how his livestreams and followings were doing and Felix asked how his latest paintings were selling.
Much to Felix’s confusion, though, Hyunjin looked super nervous and shuffled away from any cat that wandered close to him. A small white one nuzzled at his pant leg, whiskers twitching, but the omega didn’t bend down to pick up the feline like Felix expected. Instead he smiled down at the kitty and waved. Even the ginger cat that Felix held seemed to bother him.
“Look at this cute one, she’s very friendly.” Felix scratched between her ears as he flipped through the brochure until he landed on the cat's bio. “Her name is cinnamon and her favorite snack is salmon. Hmm. Maybe I should order her some before we leave?”
Hyunjin nodded, looking at the cat in Felix’s arms almost wistfully. “Yes, that would be nice.”
“You don’t want to hold one?” Felix offered, thinking that maybe Hyunjin was just a little shy with new animals. Just like he sometimes was with people because while Felix was outgoing, Hyunjin preferred to stick to himself and come out of his shell later.
Hyunjin gave Felix a confused look. One that his teachers in maths used to give him. Like he was a little stupid, and then he shook his head. “No, I really don’t want to. Thanks.”
Felix momentarily stopped petting the cat. Uh oh. Maybe he really did do the wrong thing by taking Hyunjin to a cat cafe? What if he secretly hated the place and the food and was only smiling through gritted teeth for Felix’s sake?
But… that couldn’t be right because Hyunjin looked so cute and soft as he stared down at the little white cat that continued to sit by his legs. Felix couldn’t help the pleased rumble- a purr that blended with the other cat sounds in the cafe- at the way Hyunjin smiled down longingly as the kitten licked at his pants.
He looked so enamored by the kitten… but maybe he was too shy to pick it up? Felix bent down to carefully cradle the kitten, and then slowly passed her over the table as an offering to Hyunjin.
Hyunjin looked… So soft and puffy.
Wait.
Puffy?
Hyunjin’s normally angular cheeks were a little chubbier and redder than normal. Cute but alarming. Tears gathered at his lash line as he suddenly stood up. “This was nice,” he said in a strained voice, “but I really should go now. Here, this money should cover my portion of the bill.”
Before Felix could even protest, Hyunjin was riffling through his wallet to quickly stick a wad of cash by the potted flower. Felix and his new cat friends watched, confused. “It was nice seeing you, Lix. Thank you for the invite.” He bowed his head before promptly exiting the cafe.
Felix was left holding the snowy cat wondering what he had done wrong to ruin his first courting attempt.
Felix opened the group chat that he shared with his eight pack mates when he received a message from Bang Chan. Somewhat their ‘leader’ as far as packs went.
‘Wolfgang’
Channie: How was the cat cafe guys? I’ve been meaning to check it out
Lixie: I almost died, Hyunjin was so soft and fluffy looking at the cute white cat, 10/10 recommend going!
Jinnie: soft??? That was the face of anaphylactic fear!
Jinnie: I was about to SWELL UP and DIE
Minho: Wait, you’re allergic to cats?
Jinnie: YES Minho. You would KNOW if you ever LISTENED
Felix clutched the phone in his hand. He felt awful. Terrible. The first date and he almost killed the omega he was courting!
Lixie: I’m so sorry Hyunjin, I didn’t know I swear!! Do you need Benadryl? I can bring, like, ten.
Seungmin: ten Benadryl sounds like a threat.
Felix rolled around on the couch and whined to himself. His video game was paused on the TV. Seungmin was certainly not making his case look any better. But Seungmin and Minho were the people who talked to Hyunjin the most, so giving into his pride, he opened a private message with Seungmin. One of the only ones in their group with a level head who could probably give the best courting advice- the lesser of two evils.
Lixie: did Hyunjin… really hate the cat cafe that much?
Seungmin: He thought you were trying to kill him.
Lixie: WHAT
Seungmin: how did you NOT know he’s allergic to cats? Isn’t he the love of your life? Haven’t you been pining for like a year now?
Lixie: he has cats all over his Twitter handle! Don’t blame me!
Seungmin: Well you definitely gave him trauma.
Lixie: I JUST WANTED TO MAKE HIM SMILE
Seungmin: You did. Before you handed him the cat, that is.
Lixie: noooo. Please Seungmin. How can I redeem myself?
Seungmin: try to make it up to him I guess. He likes art museums, maybe take him there next time?
Lixie: NEMDJDNJD KIM SEUNGMIN I WILL KISS YOU
Seungmin: god no.
Felix sighed and turned to his kitchen. The next best thing that he could do was to cook some soup for the omega whom he had nearly killed.
Hyunjin idly itched at the hives that had formed under his shirt, just at the waistline of his sweatpants. He would need to cancel any plans for tomorrow because there was absolutely no way he was walking outside looking like some kind of monster under the bed.
He was lucky that he even made it home before his skin broke out into the annoying hives, though with some love and care they would go away overnight. Probably. Hopefully.
The biggest issue here lies in the container of ‘soup’ on his counter, a note taped to the lid with a heart drawn on it. Felix had left it at his doorstep as soon as he learned about Hyunjin’s allergies, along with many apologies, and Hyunjin wondered whether he should ignore it or not because he simply did not trust it.
With a heavy sigh, Hyunjin gently placed Kkami into the floor and the dog made a disgruntled noise before padding away. “Sorry!” He called to the pup as he got up and trudged his way to the kitchen.
He continued to itch under his shirt, making his skin red. He studied the container for booby traps before he tentatively lifted the lid and gave a cursory sniff. It smelled perfectly fine… Maybe he really could eat it after all?
His tummy rumbled, as if encouraging him to eat the soup that could very well be poison.
Why not? If he was going to die then he wanted it to be at the hands of the hot assassin who left food at his doorstep.
As he heated the soup in the microwave, his phone on the countertop buzzed and Hyunjin took a deep breath before he looked at the screen.
It was ‘Catboy assassin.’
Hyunjin audibly gulped.
Catboy assassin: hiii are you free the weekend?
Quickly, Hyunjin switched tabs to message Minho, the only one aside from Seungmin who heard about most of his issues in life.
Jinnie: The hitman just texted me. I do not trust this. My will is under my pillow and you can take over my Twitter account, but delete my history
And then, he turned his attention back to his killer.
Jinnie: I'm free…. Why tho?
Catboy assassin: There’s this really cool rooftop art show that I saw! It reminded me of you and i was wondering if you would like to go there with me?
Jinnie: On the ROOFTOP?
He really hoped he made it out of this alive.
Jinnie: Is this a test of my survival skills?
Catboy assassin: What???
Catboy assassin: No???
Catboy assassin: I just thought that you’d like the sculptures and the vibes.
Jinnie: The last time you said that, there were sharp metal installations that nearly impaled me.
Catboy assassin: THAT WAS ONE TIME
Jinnie: We were escorted out by security
Catboy assassin: I pinky promise you this one’s safe!
And if there was one thing to be said about Lee Felix, it was that he was never one to break a pinky promise.
With a sigh, Hyunjin accepted his fate.
Jinnie: if you say so…
Catboy assassin: perfect! I can come and pick you up tomorrow so that you don’t have to take the bus???
Hyunjin sent the thumbs up emoji, securing his fate. He was done for.
The next day, thankfully, Hyunjin’s skin cleared up and so did the annoying congestion and eye watering sensation. As he got ready, he prayed to every deity above that this was not his last night on earth.
Just in case, he left his written will where he promised it would be and gave Kkami an extra kiss before he left.
He wore a white button up shirt and black slacks that fit just right in all of the correct places. The same outfit he wore to every art gallery that was a business casual dress code. He went to many. He was an artist, after all.
Hyunjin met Felix outside the parking garage of his apartment complex, the one only a few miles from the warehouse he rented out as art space so that he could easily walk. He used to room with Changbin, Chan, and Jisung before then- but eventually Chan and Changbin’s pheromones started to mess with his sensitive nose and throw off his heat cycles and not even beta Jisung could throw him back into balance.
It was easy to spot Felix among the other idling vehicles because he was at the wheel of his beloved yellow pickup truck that always made questionable noises when he started it. But he loved it so much that none of them had the heart to suggest he get a new one. An omega took their prized valuables very seriously- and Felix was no exception.
The ‘Jaws’ theme song playing in the background of Hyunjin’s mind like elevator music as he approached the truck and then, finally, wrenched the door open. “Hi Jinnie!” Felix waved enthusiastically, his freckles rippling across his cheeks like little waves as he smiled. His caramel eyes roved up and then down the length of his torso, and Hyunjin wondered if he was thinking about where he would bury his body. “Hop on in!”
‘Hop on in’ Hyunjin thought to himself as he reached up to grab the ‘oh shit handle’ and pulled himself up into the passenger seat. When he shut the door, it made a questionable noise. Maybe this truck would kill him before Felix managed to.
“You look… really nice,” Felix complimented as he pulled out of the parallel parking position. Hyunjin could feel eyes on him looking through the mirror. Hyunjin didn’t think that he looked nice- especially not when Felix wore a suit jacket with his light hair to cover the collar of it, but he smiled at the compliment anyway.
Felix was bright like the sun when he grinned right back at him, and Hyunjin wondered just why the other omega insisted on hanging out with him so much. He was probably just trying to figure out new and Inventive ways to kill him with maximum suffering. For all Hyunjin knew- he could have a batch of kittens in his tailgate.
When they got stuck in traffic, Felix nervously tapped his finger against the steering wheel and gave Hyunjin a sideways glance. He had been talking most of the entire ride there while Hyunjin listened and nodded, occasionally agreeing. It was their dynamic and Hyunjin was very comfortable with it. “So,” Felix asked, “are you uh… are you feeling better?”
Hyunjin huffed out a peel of laughter that blew a strand of hair from his face when he shot Felix a look. “Yes, no thanks to you.”
Felix’s face crumpled and he looked like he would get on his knees and beg for forgiveness if he wasn’t currently driving. “Have I mentioned how sorry I am?”
“You have. Multiple times.”
“I know! But- but… did the soup at least help a little?”
Hyunjin hummed, remembering how it settled his stomach. “It did, thank you for that.”
Felix perked up, and if he had ears, they would be sticking up on his head excitedly, “really? Should I make you some more then?”
Hyunjin wanted to say ‘No, please don’t’ but his mouth betrayed him and he agreed instead.
By the time they arrived, showed off their tickets, and gossiped a little about the old rich people around them giving them strange looks, the sun was crawling low along the skyline.
The atmosphere was painted in pastels. The rooftop exhibit was, honestly, the best place that Hyunjin had ever seen! Along with the twinkling dusk stars, the lamps illuminated the exhibit in a warm glow. There were marble sculptures with ivy that crept up along the edges and paintings displayed on brick walls and Hyunjin was enthralled.
Felix didn’t even complain or argue as Hyunjin grabbed him by the wrist and led him from one exhibit to the next as he mumbled under his breath in awe. About the color theory of the palate- an art class that Hyunjin hated the most in college. About the angles and contrast. About how wonderful this place was!
And instead of looking at the exhibit- Felix stared at Hyunjin the entire time, as if he was the prettiest work of art among them. His heady and heavy gaze made Hyunjin blush a little, at the attention- especially when an alpha in a starched suit tried to approach.
He was tall and broad shouldered and reaching out to grab Hyunjin’s hand to gain his attention. Instead, there was a growl from Felix’s chest that sounded so distinctly alpha that even Hyunjin pulled back a little in surprise. With one look from Felix and a downwards curl of his lip, the alpha turned away with his tail between his legs. Good riddance.
“You didn’t have to do that, you know.” Hyunjin pointed out once Felix’s eyes were no longer dilated with some sort of… possessiveness? “I could have handled him myself. It wouldn’t be the first time.”
At that, Felix seemed to only get more agitated, his scent spiking. He shook his head and squeezed his eyes shut, clutching Hyunjin’s hand in his own. “I need some air.”
“We’re on a rooftop.”
Felix didn’t say anything as he walked Hyunjin to the edge of the rooftop. Luckily, there was a rail here and Felix couldn’t judo flip him over the edge, but you could never be sure, so Hyunjin held onto it for support as he overlooked the city skyline. It was now completely dark outside, with only the City lights and slight pollution to fog the scene.
If Hyunjin had his watercolors, then he would sit down and take his time to bring the sky to life on his canvas paper. Instead, Hyunjin’s fingers itched with the need to sketch as he stared ahead and Felix breathed next to him- for once, he was silent.
A sudden breeze whispered through the exhibit and Hyunjin cursed his foresight to not bring a jacket along as he shivered and wrapped his arms around himself to preserve body heat. It was just on the heels of summer and the nights grew cold earlier.
Wordlessly, Felix shrugged off his suit jacket, leaving him in his dark button up, and offered the fabric to Hyunjin. He stared at it for only ten and a half seconds before taking it with an appreciative hum and wrapping himself inside of it.
He unconsciously nuzzled his nose into the collar and sniffed. Scented the fabric because he loved Felix’s addicting scent. Carmel and chocolate like the brownies that he loved to bake and leave at his doorstep when he had a hard day and was so busy that he forgot to eat.
“Thank you,” he said after a long moment that stretched like the Sahara.
“You’re welcome!” Felix grinned, showing off his sharp canines. He was back to his normal self once more. His invisible tail was wagging. “Oh! I have a gift for you!”
Hyunjin perked up. “Really? A gift?” He hadn’t been given one of those in a long time!
Suddenly- Felix looked a little bashful as he shuffled from one foot to another. “I, uh… I’m not as artistic as you are, but I went to a craft class with Jisung the other day and I made this for you. With you in mind.”
Huh.
Felix reached into the tote bag that he had been carrying around on his right shoulder (where Hyunjin honestly thought he had been hiding the cats) and produced a tiny little birdhouse-looking-thing to hand over to him.
Hyunjin tentatively took the thing in hand and it was…
Truly ugly.
Really.
Some screws stuck out of the splintered and rotting wood. There was a tiny bird inside of where the door should be, and its eyes were dark and beady, one bigger than the other.
“I’m speechless,” he said, turning it over in his hands, But Felix looked at him so expectantly with those big eyes of his. He swallowed down his natural response, which was to drop the thing and drench it with holy water. “…thank you, Lixie. I can’t believe that you made this for me with your own two hands.”
Really, he couldn’t.
“Look inside! Inside!”
Hyunjin carefully stuffed a finger in and maneuvered the creepy little bird around until a folded up note fell out. He caught it and unfolded it to observe the writing.
‘To new beginnings.’
New beginnings?
Hyunjin swallowed thickly, so loud that Felix could probably hear it, and looked back at his personal assassin who was looking at him expectantly. He gave him a shaky smile. “I love it. It’s nice.”
Later at home Hyunjin cuddled up with the jacket that Felix insisted he keep for a little bit. He didn’t protest because he lay it over his pillow like a new pillowcase to scent.
With the amount he rubbed his cheeks and neck into the fabric, he was already starting to grow woozy and in the heady state of a scent high.
His phone buzzed from somewhere in his hoodie pocket, and Hyunjin struggled to sleepily unlock the phone. When it lit up the dark room, he winced and squinted his eyes.
Channie: How was your date?
Jinnie: What date?
Channie: Your date with Felix???
Jinnie: Who said it was a date???
Channie: ?? What else was it then?
Jinnie: Two omegas hanging out???
Channie: Oh god Hyunjin.
Jinnie: He took me to a rooftop art show
Channie: I know that
Channie: What else happened?
Jinnie: The stars looked really pretty from there
Jinnie: It had gotten cold since it was late at night
Jinnie: He gave me his jacket too!
Jinnie: It smelled soooooo good!
Jinnie: I love his scent
Channie: aww that’s cute
Channie: It seemed like you had fun
Jinnie: that’s what i thought too at first
Jinnie: But then…
Channie: what.
Jinnie: So Felix handed me this tiny cursed little birdhouse that he apparently ‘built for me.’
Jinnie: But then inside there was a small slip of paper that said ‘to new beginnings’
Jinnie: I think that he’s trying to push me out of the nest. Literally.
Channie: You cannot be serious right now.
They were all gathered at their weekly hangout, the one they had on the weekends for the people like Seungmin and Minho who worked nine to five jobs. Chan, Jisung, and Changbin as a music production group had more flexible hours like Felix and Hyunjin did. Minho the veterinarian, Jeongin the teacher, and Seungmin the lawyer certainly did not.
Their hangouts usually lasted in three phases. Pleasantries as they gossiped and ate dinner. Hijinks as they busted into the liquor cabinet and played a few video games, and then strip poker. Calm as they settled for a movie and all eventually passed out and drooled on one another’s shoulders.
Oh, and, of course, the following morning hangover.
Currently, they were still on the first phase of the night as they all kicked back on the couch and claimed a gluttonous amount of pizza. Dominoes always hated to see them coming on a Saturday night. They would run them out of business one of these days.
Jeongin and Changbin were arguing loudly about something as they battled for first place in some racing game on the television, but for once Felix was not focused on the video game. How could he do such a thing when Hyunjin was sitting across the room on the arm chair, one leg slung over the edge as he idly scrolled through his phone. Looking so effortlessly beautiful.
Felix discreetly angled his phone to try and snap a quick picture of him so that he could admire it later. Unfortunately, though, his friends were nosey as fuck.
“Why are you taking pictures like a creep?” Seungmin asked over his shoulder, unimpressed.
Felix made a- very manly- noise of surprise and quickly hid his phone because that sight was for his eyes and his eyes only.
“He looks so pretty today, l can’t help it,” Felix huffed as he sank lower into the couch cushions and pulled his legs up to his chest. Hyunjin cackled loudly at something Changbin said, tossing his head back and showcasing the attractive column of his neck. Felix wanted to bite it. He was going crazy.
He took Seungmin by the shoulders and looked him dead in the eyes like a crazed man. “You don’t get it Seungmin,” he hissed under his breath, “I need to mate him. I need to be so deep inside of him that we merge for eternity.”
“Oh…okay…” Seungmin blinked, and then took the flask of soju carefully from his hands to set aside. “You’ve had too much to drink. Settle down.”
No, Felix decided. He would not settle down. He needed to come up with his next game plan soon before someone else decided to sweep Hyunjin off of his feet.
Clumsily opening his phone and missing the grape soju, Felix messaged Minho.
Catboy assassin: I’m going to make my next move. I’ll buy Hyunjin his favorite coffee! He’s been working so hard lately.
Minho, from across the room sitting with Jisung, looked displeased as he stared at his phone screen. He glared at Felix.
Minho: Oh no, don’t involve me in your courting attempts
Felix: But I just want to know his coffee order! You know him the best.
Minho: figure it out yourself. Don’t you work at the coffee shop anyway?
Felix: Touche…
Hyunjin’s back hurt. He had been sitting in the same position for hours on end as he worked out a sketch. He was trying a new perspective type, one he had never attempted before, and it was giving him hell.
Hyunjin was starting to think that maybe he should just stick to what he did best- watercolor and oil pastels. But he was determined to get this right because he felt like somewhat of a failure if he couldn’t at least render a decent sketch out- especially when someone would be paying for it.
With a sigh, Hyunjin wiggled a little in the cafe chair in an attempt to ease the pain in his lower back. It didn’t help. He would need another deep tissue massage, at this point.
He sat at his usual place, the window that overlooked the crowded sidewalks as students returned home from classes and businessmen to their families. The bright sun cast a relaxing ray on Hyunjin that made him feel a bit syrupy and slow as he blinked the sleepless away. Like a sunning cat- if he wasn’t allergic to them.
It felt like he’d been here for hours now, and just when he was about to give up and call it a day, a drink was placed at his table. When Hyunjin looked up, Felix was already walking away. He must have thought that he was being discreet when he gave Minho, who was picking up an order, a thumbs up.
Hyunjin took the coffee and suspiciously sniffed it Just like he did with the soup. He scrunched his nose.
Oat milk.
Two things that Hyunjin was highly allergic to- Cats and Oat milk.
There was a little heart drawn on the cup and Hyunjin felt Felix’s eyes staring intently at him from behind the counter. Waiting. Just waiting for him to drink from the cup, pass out, and DIE.
And it was then- when Felix shot a nervous glance at Minho, that Hyunjin figured it all out. He knew why Felix was trying so hard to attempt to kill him.
This was a message.
Felix was trying to even the playing field and eliminate Hyunjin so that he could get Minho all to himself!
Upon this epiphany, Hyunjin quickly packed away his art supplies- took the coffee just to be nice, and high tailed it out of the cafe with an awkward smile in Felix’s direction.
Minho just shook his head from where he leaned against the counter. “Hyunjin is the only omega I’ve ever seen to mistake romantic gestures for assassination attempts.” He grumbled to himself.
He was only on his lunch break, but he was already done with the day.
It was getting colder outside now, with summer coming to an end. The simmering heat settled to a crisp chill, the leaves growing stale on their trees and circling in ringlets before landing on the ground. October was here. Halloween was upon them.
Autumn was Hyunjin’s favorite scenery to paint, even if the crystalline ocean waves when he went to Jeju island with the pack for a short vacation were captivating. (Up until he had to drag Minho out of the waves because he was the worst swimmer out of all of them.)
Felix had spent the entire summer trying and failing to come up with new and diverse ways to kill Hyunjin off, but he hadn’t succeeded so far.
Felix had spent the entire summer trying to come up with new and diverse ways to kill Hyunjin off, but he hadn’t succeeded so far because he was still alive and breathing as much as he could be with how busy he was- up to his neck with deadlines from galleries and clients alike.
So when he received a message, he was almost eager to escape his artwork because his hands were starting to cramp. He set the paintbrush aside, massaging his knuckles as he used his Face ID to see the text.
His heart dropped a little when he saw who it was.
Catboy assassin: hey! The new haunted house is opening and I was wondering if you would like to come along with me, Changbin, and Seungmin?
Jinnie: I don’t know… I don’t like scary things…
Catboy assassin- please! That’s why I invited other people! You won’t be alone and you can stand in the middle I promise!
Hyunjin sighed as he washed the paint from his hands, contemplating his options. He supposed that it would be hard for Felix to kill him off if he was with the others. Then he would surely go to jail.
Jinnie: okay…
It was how he ended up here- shuffling anxiously as he stood in line to enter the wretched and abandoned looking house. He tried his best not to piss himself because honestly- it was terrifying. Dilapidated and haunted. It was cloudy enough to conceal the look and plunge them into darkness, the only light from Felix’s phone as he took selfies with the others. Hyunjin didn’t smile. In fact, he pouted a little at the camera.
There was a line of people in front of him, slowly moving, as screams echoed from the house and Hyunjin wondered why anyone would willingly do this for fun. Yet here he was.
As Changbin and Seungmin chatted away, looking annoyingly unbothered, Felix turned to Hyunjin. Even in the darkness, he looked sunny when he smiled. “Are you excited?” He asked.
Hyunjin wrung his long fingers together and bit down on his bottom lip. “Erm… not really?”
Felix’s eyebrows furrowed and he frowned, but before he could say anything or offer some words of encouragement, Seungmin was pushing him forward to step up onto the creaky porch that somehow managed to support all of their weight. The scare actor dressed like a murder victim collected money at the front door to let them in.
“Look! We’re next!”
Hyunjin’s hands shook too much to reach into his wallet, but he didn’t have to because Felix was already handing off enough money for the both of them as he pulled him inside. Into the pitch blackness.
At first it was fine. It really was.
Chan took the lead and Hyunjin was crushed in the middle with Felix right at his shoulder, their arms brushing until Felix interlocked their elbows together in a firm hold. Seungmin trailed at the caboose and everything was perfectly okay.
At least, until the corpse fell from the ceiling.
Hyunjin’s hair stood on end and he clung to Felix as he shrieked. From then on- he blanked out from the trauma.
‘Wolfgang’
Channie: Felix? Why did you drag Hyunjin to the horror escape room on a Tuesday?
Catboy assassin: for bonding time?
Jisung: bro he cried
Catboy assassin: IT SAID ‘mild horror’ I THOUGHT HE LIKED GHOST STUFF
Jinnie: I thought it was a message.
Jinnie: Like “get ready. Your time has come.”
Catboy assassin: I HELD YOUR HAND THE WHOLE TIME
Jinnie: you held it AFTER the animatronic corpse dropped from the ceiling
Jinnie: Damage was done.
Jinnie: I’m pretty sure everyone within ten meters could smell my distress
Innie: lmfaoooo apparently Hyunjin tried to open the emergency exit with a chair
Jinnie: AND I WOUKD DO IT AGAIN
Seungmin: *would
Minho- you literally kicked the zombie actor
Catboy assassin: okay but like that was so iconic?
Jinnie: I saw my life flash before my eyes
Jinnie: It was mostly ramen and cats tho
Channie- I had to write an apology form in the behalf of YOU
Jinnie: my inner omega popped out for a moment there
Catboy assassin: so… are we not doing the clown themed one next week?
Jinnie: I’m blocking you.
Catboy assassin: ahahah I was joking.
Catboy assassin: …
catboy assassin: Hyunjin?
“I failed at impressing Hyunjin again,” Felix sighed, trying not to wallow in misery. He and Jisung were playing video games and just like in real life, the ‘you lost’ screen flashed brightly. Exactly how Felix felt.
“Well, you have shitty ideas of romance, so…”
“Jisung,” Felix groaned, whacking the beta on the shoulder as he leaned back even further into the couch cushion. Maybe he could bury himself in them, hibernate, and then wake up as a new person. “What do I do?
“Not too sure you want to ask me about romance advice, Lixie. I’ve never courted anyone before.” Jisung clicked on the controller and started a new game that Felix wasn’t sure he had the heart to play. He tried anyway until his fingers grew numb.
Suddenly, a very bad brain worm buried itself in his head. Normally, Felix was an optimist rather than a pessimist and didn’t let such thoughts suade him… though lately with his failed mating attempts, he’d grown a little more irritable. Insecure. “Jisung,” he shifted uneasily. “Do you think it’s… it’s because I’m an omega? What if he wants an alpha instead and is too shy to admit it?”
His character fell off of the map and died once more, and then Jisung paused the game. Sensing the serious conversation. He turned on the couch and took Felix’s hands in his own and puffed his cheeks out stubbornly. “Listen up, the only difference between us and the alphas is that they have knots.”
“And ruts,” Felix pointed out.
“Yes, and those.” Jisung amended, “But you are perfectly capable and can do everything that an alpha can do even better. You can be scary sometimes, don’t pretend like I didn’t see your obsessive ass that one time the alpha tried hitting on him.”
“I guess…”
“Look, if you want Hyunjin to be your omega so bad then you have to keep courting him no matter what until he tells you not to. Maybe he’s playing hard to get. I’ve heard that some omegas are like that, just to see if their mate cares enough to fight for them.”
Huh. Felix had never looked at it that way. “You could be right,” he pondered, “though I’m not sure that I can take much more of this, Seungie.”
Jisung leveled him with a very serious look. Very uncharacteristic of him. “Felix, do you think that Hyunjin is worth fighting for?”
God. Felix would fight entire wars for that man. “I would lick the bathroom floor for him.”
“Ew,” Jisung scrunched his nose in disgust, but gave Felix a pat on the shoulder. “Fight on, soldier. But please… don’t lick anything unless it is a body part directly attached to Hyunjin.”
Suddenly, Felix dropped his precious controller to the ground in a moment of clarity. “I have an idea!” Felix announced, scrambling to get his phone out excitedly.
“That can’t be good…”
“-I’ll make a shared playlist! There’s going to be so many romantic songs for Hyunjin! He’s gonna love it!”
“That’s not bad,” jisung approved, patting the cushion closest to him. “Come on, I’ll help you make it.”
Hyunjin stared down at the shared playlist with utter horror before promptly texting Minho.
Jinnie: We need to meet up.
Jinnie: Now.
Jinnie: ASAP. Pronto. This is life or death.
Minho’s speech bubble appeared, disappeared, and then reappeared again before he replied.
Minho: Hyunjin. Are you okay? Do I need to fight someone?
Jinnie: No no no
Jinnie: Well maybe.
Jinnie: Just hurry to my apartment please.
And Hyunjin really must have made Minho worried because he didn’t argue or protest the fact that he just got off of work. Instead, he showed up in his work scrubs at Hyunjin’s door without even knocking, using his spare key to get in.
When he entered, it wasn’t hard to find Hyunjin curled up on the couch, rocking back and forth like some kind of psych ward patient. “Hyunjin…” he asked as he tentatively approached, only slightly afraid that he would bite his hand off. “What’s going on-“
Hyunjin promptly shoved his phone into Minho’s face. “A playlist,” he sounded parched. Like he needed a good eight ounces of water at least. “He made me a playlist.”
“What?” Minho asked, his brain still on a bit of an adrenaline high from thinking that his best friend was getting murdered. “Who, Felix?”
Hyunjin nodded vigorously and Minho scrolled through the playlist that was obviously a romantic olive branch. “Yes! I’m so confused?”
Minho (and the others, he knew) was so sick and tired. He plopped down right there on the couch, ready to finally convince the omega that he was, in fact, being courted and not targeted. “What is there to be confused about?” He asked patiently “obviously he likes you-“
“The first song is ‘I think I like you.’”
“Okay?…” Minho asked, stumped. “What’s so bad about that?”
“And the second song is don’t make me fall in love with you.”
“Right.” Minho nodded, finally feeling like they were on the same page. “It’s just Felix’s indirect way of confessing his undying love-“
“NOW I KNOW NOW WHAT THIS MEANS!” Hyunjin jumped up from his couch, and now Minho could see just how out of his mind he looked with his wrinkled clothes and his bloodshot eyes. Did he really get no sleep last night?
Hyunjin was genuinely… worried? Scared? Minho didn’t know. Before he could even get the chance to voice his concern, Hyunjin took Minho by the shoulders and shook him like a madman. “Felix must be telling me about his feelings for you!”
A beat of dead silence.
Minho inhaled, and then exhaled.
“What?” He blanched, not comprehending how much of an idiot his friend is.
“Yes! He’s threatening me again! He’s obviously doing this on purpose because he likes you and he wants me out of the picture! Forever!”
Minho paused, and then slowly sat Hyunjin down to catch his breath. “You,” he demanded. “Take a seat. You’ll need it.” Hyunjin watched with those dark eyes of his as Minho counted backwards from fifty in his head to regain his composure all while filling him a glass of water.
He handed the glass to Hyunjin and forced him to sip down at least half of it before he continued. “Okay. We’re going to talk about this like reasonable adults, right?”
“Okay. Fine.”
“Good.” Minho nodded, “Good. Now how did you even come to this conclusion in the first place?”
Suddenly, Hyunjin grew a little insecure in the way he sat curled in on himself. Rubbing his elbow in an embarrassed way as his cheeks flushed a pink color. “Well, I see the way that he lights up when you compliment his stupid hair. Like I’m just… I’m just the awkward omega friend that’s in his way.”
“Hyunjin,” Minho deadpanned, “you are stupid.”
“I’m sorry?” Hyunjin looked taken aback. He had not been expecting this answer, apparently.
“Felix is not trying to kill you.”
“And how do you know?”
Minho sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, “I know because he’s an idiot.”
“An idiot who looks so depressed every time one of his murder attempts fails. Why is that?”
“It’s because he likes you,” Minho finally blurted, and the world went still.
“He… he does?” Hyunjin asked, his voice wavering and his eyes growing shiny.
“Helplessly so. He’s crazy in love, it’s honestly hard to watch.” Minho spat, very very honestly because he was tired of being the mediator for the two psycho omegas.
“But…” Hyunjin bit his bottom lip, his eyes trailing down to his fingernails as he picked at them. Minho whacked his hand to get him to stop. “But he’s an omega, though?”
Minho leveled him with a look, because there was no way that his artist friend, gay of the century, would be closed minded about such a thing. “Jin, don’t tell me that you’re one of those old fashioned ones who thinks that two omegas shouldn’t be together.”
“No! No! Not at all!” Hyunjin scrambled to correct, nearly knocking his glass of water to the floor. Minho carefully scooted it back further on the coffee table as the omega floundered. It was almost too easy to fluster Hyunjin, but Minho didn’t want that at this moment because his friend was already stressed enough as it is.
Hyunjin hugged himself insecurely. “I just… I don’t know why he would even want me as an option when there’s other alphas out there. What- what does he even see in me?” He looked up at Minho with questioning eyes. Pleasing. Minho reached out to pinch his cheek and rid his face of the helpless expression.
“He sees what you don’t see in yourself. Do you mind that an omega is courting you?”
“No… not really. I just thought he liked you?”
“You think that everyone likes me.”
“Well statistically it’s a fair guess. You’re one of the only alphas in our group aside from Channie Hyung and Changbin.”
Minho arched an eyebrow, feeling a bit playful. “Then why don’t you?”
Hyunjin froze. “Huh?”
“Why don’t you like me?”
The omegas mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water before he very eloquently settled on- “…what now?”
Minho sighed, “Hyunjin… I tried to court you for ages when I was a freshman.”
“Oh,” was all that he could say. He looked a little bit like he was suffocating.
“Yeah. I gave you a bracelet made of your birthstones.”
“I thought it was a hex charm.”
“I wrote you a poem.”
“I just thought it was a threat in iambic pentameter.”
“I HAND FED YOU slices of tangerines during flu season.”
“I- I… just thought you were being maternal?”
“I took you to a rooftop garden and said ‘if I were a flower, I’d only bloom for you.’ Which is, like, really cringey thinking back on it now.”
Hyunjin hesitated, as if recalling the memory. “Okay, okay, that one I did think was a little… suspect… but I just thought it was a metaphor?”
“Jesus Christ. A metaphor? For what?”
“I dunno, global warming?”
“I am going to punch you.”
“No no no, Minho I’m sorry I never noticed. I really am. Will you ever forgive me?” Hyunjin looked genuinely guilty. Crestfallen. Minho felt a bit bad for bringing up the past in such a way, so he reached out to mess his hair up.
“Of course, idiot. You’re a dear friend to me and that won’t change no matter what, okay?”
“You’re still okay being friends even after being romantically attracted to me?” Hyunjin asked, still holding himself. Minho sighed and plopped back down on the couch next to him so that he could wrap Hyunjin in a side hug. His normal floral and paint scent was distressed and Minho released his own soothing pheromones to combat the sour smell.
“Hyunjin, that was in our college years. We’re full grown adults now. Those feelings are in the past and I’d rather have you in my life as a friend, especially now that I’m courting Bang Chan.”
This seemed to be the biggest surprise of the night because Hyunjin let out a wheezing sound like he had been kicked in the diagram. “I- you’re courting Chan?”
“Yes- I just don’t make it as obvious as Felix.”
“…Oh.”
Hyunjin created the ‘Wolfgang minus Felix.’ Group chat after Minho left his apartment.
Jinnie: chat
Innie: Christ here we go
Minho- what.
Jinnie: I think that Felix likes me
Jinnie: Like LIKES me
Jinnie: Not “I’m in love with Minho and want you to die” but GENUINELY likes me
Jinnie: and apparently Minho liked me for months back in freshman year???
Jinnie: Was I just living in my own sitcom while everyone else was in a drama?
Channie: can’t believe it took Felix so many attempted murders for Hyunjin to finally figure out it was romantic courting
Jinnie: In my defense, I’ve never seen an omega court another omega!
Seungmin: may I remind you that Minho is an alpha and you were still equally oblivious with him
Jinnie: okay that one was on me.
Jinnie: I’ve been thinking about the time he made me soup after I got hives from the cat cafe and then left a note that said “I hope I didn’t kill you this time” with a heart
Jinnie: And I thought it was sarcasm, but maybe it was flirting?
Jinnie: Have I been this obvious the whole time?
Channie: Yes.
Changbinnie- yes!
Innie: yes
Seungmin: yes
Minho: yes.
Jinnie: I GET IT DAMN
“If someone makes you soup after nearly murdering you many times, is that like “I’m sorry” soup or ‘you’re cute’ soup.”
Seungmin sighed, staring at Hyunjin with an unimpressed look over the package of cookies he was eating. It was the only reason that he showed up to his apartment- to eat as Hyunjin ranted and ranted. “Just say that Felix made you soup and you’re spiraling again.”
“Fine, ‘Felix made me soup and I’m spiraling again” Hyunjin admitted as he tugged on his hair. “Do you blame me?! It’s been about a week since I’ve learned this information. And I don’t know what to do with it! At least Felix backed away from his murder attempts… I mean his romantic advances.”
“I thought you said just a few moments ago that he was trying to poison you?” Seungmin pointed out, a few crumbs falling from his mouth.
“I’m evolving.”
“Right.”
“I’m serious!” Hyunjin cried, though he admitted the next part in a hushed voice. He didn’t want the neighbors to hear his gossip. “He might be in love with me, Minnie.”
“God, finally. I’m leaving now so you should text him. I don’t want to be anywhere in the vicinity when you do.”
“What? No! Don’t leave me alone! Seungminnnn!”
He was gone before Hyunjin could beg some more, leaving him alone in his apartment with ten less cookies than before.
Just Him and his phone.
…Him and his phone.
Jinnie: soooo if someone were to theoretically maybe have an allergic reaction to cats, and the receives soup from the person who handed them the cat
Jinnie: Would that be
Jinnie: Like
Jinnie: An emotional thing?
Catboy assassin: um
Catboy assassin: I’d say it means the second person feels really bad and cares about them a lot?
Jinnie: like… enough to want them to live? Or even like them… romantically?
Catboy assassin: which option would make you more comfortable?
Jinnie: uhhh. Idk. You pick
Catboy assassin: then maybe… the second option
Catboy assassin: If that’s okay
Jinnie: oh. Cool. Cool. That’s totally cool
He opened the chat ‘Wolfgang minus Felix’ to type ‘ohmygod’ over and over again at least a hundred times before sending it.
Changbinnie: what? What happened?
Jinnie: he choose the second option
Seungmin: What does that even mean?
Channie: idk, but if it’s about Felix, then he definitely wants to bang you
Suddenly he gets a private message from Felix once again
Catboy assassin: Hyunjin? Can we talk?
Catboy assassin: No cats this time I promise
Jesus Christ he sounded so serious. Hyunjin, pretendinglike he wasn’t currently sweating balls, typed out a reply.
Jinnie: What about oat milk?
Jinnie: Or the haunted house?
Jinnie: Or the letters
Catboy assassin: none of that I swear
Jinnie: okay…
Catboy assassin: I’m gonna come over to yours then
Jinnie: So do I need a bodyguard this time?
Catboy assassin: maybe just snacks
Jinnie: I’ll allow it.
Felix spent the entire car drive over hyping himself up as he played some heavy rock music in the background to prepare himself. He was brave. He was strong. He could do this. He eyed himself in the rear view mirror one last time before shutting off the truck.
By the time he reached Hyunjins doorstep, he was buzzing with energy. So much so that when Hyunjin finally answered the door (looking disheveled but in a way that could only be cute on him) Felix threw all inhibitions to the wind and blurted it out. “Hwang Hyunjin!” He announced, loud enough for the neighbors to hear, “I like you! Please let me court you!”
An older woman who had been passing by with her fluffy ancient looking white dog stopped to stare. Felix watched as Hyunjins face quickly grew a rosy red color. “Inside. Now.” He hissed, his eyes darting from the old woman to Felix. He grabbed Felix by the elbow and pulled him into the apartment, the door shutting behind then with a final thud. Like the sound of Felix’s casket closing.
Maybe… he shouldn’t have announced such a thing loudly for the world to hear, especially with how embarrassed Hyunjin looked- but Felix wouldn’t take it back. Especially not now that he got the feelings off of his chest.
“I like you. I like you a lot,” he said in a much lower voice this time around. Hyunjin nodded with side eyes as he took in the information. He looked nervous and… hopeful? There was a glimmer in his eyes.
“So you… you really weren’t trying to kill me this entire time?”
“What?” Felix scoffed, “Of course not!”
Hyunjin narrowed his eyes. “You could have fooled me.”
Guilt washed over Felix. What kind of person tried to murder the one they loved. He looked down to his shoes, “I’m sorry…”
Then there was a hand cupping his face, And Hyunjin was smiling at him. Smiling in such a fond way that it made Felix’s inside do backflips because he never expected for the other omega to look at him in such a way. “It’s okay Lix, I forgive your bad courting attempts. You should keep trying.”
“I-“ Felix stuttered, choking on his own spit. “You want me to keep courting you? Even after…”
“The cats?” Hyunjin suggested.
“Yeah…”
“Or the oat milk?” Hyunjin mused, “oh! How about the haunted house?”
“Okay, okay. I get it.” Felix felt a bit dejected, but Hyunjin looked amused yet nervous as he played with the silver rings on his fingers.
“Well…” he trailed off, as if looking for the right words to say. “I maybe sorta kind of like you too… so I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to keep trying to court me. Maybe just with less death threats this time around?”
Felix’s brain malfunctioned.
The omega whom he loved so much. Who he had been courting for the better half of a year. ‘Maybe sorta kind of’ liked him back?! What kind of dream was he living in?
“Felix?” Hyunjin grew concerned when the silence between them stretched for a little too long. He waved a hand in front of his face. “Are you okay? Did I say the wrong thing?”
‘No’ Felix wanted to say ‘you have never done anything wrong ever in your life.’ But instead he surged forward and wrapped Hyunjin in an unexpected hug so fast that he even surprised himself. At first, Hyunjin was stiff in his arms, but as soon as he got a whiff of Felix’s chocolate scent, he melted in his embrace and pressed his nose against Felix’s neck.
There was a rumbling sound emanating from his chest.
He was purring, Felix realized with great effort. Hyunjin was purring on him!
This was the best day of his life aside from maybe being birthed.
Hyunjins purrs continued to rumble like Felix’s pickup truck as he nosed at his scent gland constantly, his flowery fragrance mingling with Felix’s bakery one to mold into a new aroma. The smell of it made Felix a little lightheaded.
Eventually, they found themselves a comfortable spot on the couch to simply sit and breathe one another in. After what felt like hours- of holding hands, eating snacks, watching a movie, and basking in… each other… Hyunjin looked up at him when the credits of the movie rolled. Felix didn’t really know what the movie had been about- he wasn’t paying attention because he was too focused on Hyunjin cuddled up to his side.
“Lix…” he sounded small. Scared. He bit his lip like he always did. “I’m… I’m a little confused.”
Felix’s heart dropped. “Confused? About what?”
“Well… “ Hyunjin shuffled back enough to where they could be face to face nose to nose. Felix tried not to look down at his thick bottom lip. “I just don’t know why you would want to court someone like me…?” He gestured helplessly to himself. “I’m just…”
Felix could not believe his ears. He needed to stop this blasphemy. “You’re just wonderful,” he interrupted before Hyunjin could say any other self-deprecating things about himself. “I wouldn’t choose anyone else.”
“Not even… an alpha?”
“Would you choose an alpha over me?” Felix countered, already knowing the answer.
Hyunjin shook his head. “No- of course not.”
“Then that settles it,” Felix decided, though Hyunjin still looked unsure. Felix reached out to cup his face, just like Hyunjin had done with him earlier. His skin was soft and supple and Felix wondered if the rest of his body was the same. “Should I show you just how wonderful I think you are?”
Confusion flashed across Hyunjin’s face before realization dawned. “Oh. … oh.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Hyunjin replied, a bit breathlessly, and his dark eyes burned blazing trails across Felix’s face as he observed him. “Yes.”
Felix leaned in until he could feel Hyunjin’s breath fan across his face, and with little hesitation he pressed his lips against Hyunjin’s plump ones, already wet with how he’d been biting it.
When they kissed there was no spark or firework moment between them- just an easy flow of heat and muffled sounds coming from one mouth to another. The warmth between them was hot but not overwhelmingly so. Just right.
When Felix finally pulled away to catch his breath, Hyunjin made a protesting little noise and chased after him. Felix chuckled, pressing a finger to his bottom lip and applying enough pressure that when he let go, it bounced slightly. Saliva was caught between them in a string. “I like these,” he grumbled, “your lips fit perfectly in mine:”
And then he was diving back in, feeling primal as the breathy noise he drew from Hyunjin when he tugged at the back of his hair. “Your hair is beautiful,” he muttered against Hyunjin’s lips, and his hands trailed down to the artist's waist. “And you fit perfectly in my hands. Better than any alpha, don’t you think?”
Hyunjin made a needy noise when Felix rubbed circles into his hip bones, and Felix couldn’t resist but pulled him into his lap, Hyunjin’s long legs straddling his thighs. Felix could feel the slick through Hyunjin’s pants; but he didn’t comment on it because that wasn’t what this was about.
He would worry about that later, because now he wanted to focus on taking Hyunjin apart achingly slowly until he realized every little good thing that Felix loved about him.
Hyunjin instinctively grinded against Felix’s thigh at the new friction, and Felix let him. Guided his hips as he licked and bit against his jawline. He must have found the scent gland because when he trailed opened mouth kisses along the column of his neck, Hyunjin whimpered extra loud and bared his neck backwards to give Felix even more access.
“You smell so good. I love that about you. I could just eat you up.”
And then down even lower to budded nipples, the shirt pulled to the side.
“These are nice too. They’re cute.”
Lower to the shiny piercing nestled in his belly button and the soft tummy. “This is cute as well.” He lovingly pinched the skin.
And Hyunjin lay his head on Felix’s shoulder as he believed every single word he said. Like this was right where he belonged all along.
Wolfgang
Jinnie: UPDATE; turns out Felix was just bad at courting?? Don’t really know what happened but he’s mine now. Off the market.
Catboy assassin: I can’t believe you thought that I was trying to challenge your status as an omega.
Channie: glad to know that the weirdest courtship arc of the year ended with a successful love confession.
Seungmin: no one died. Shocking.
Jisung: you’re saying this like you’re almost disappointed???
Seungmin: well.
Catboy assassin: sometimes I try to sync Hyunjin and mines dreams so that I can terrorize him in different dimensions
Catboy assassin: One day, I’ll get him.
Jinnie: I knew you were up to no good.
