Chapter Text
It was during a concert when Jan first thought about it. They had been staying over at Kris’ apartment for a couple days before, and were staying there again for the next night. Their rent for their own apartment was due in a couple days, and the landlord had just upped the rent for the month after.
Once the gig was done, Jan approached Kris.
“Hey love, that was so good! I got a bit distracted earlier, and I was thinking, maybe I could move in with you? My landlord upped the rent again, and I barely stay over there anyway.”
Kris leans into Jan and rests his head on Jan’s shoulder. “That sounds great to me, but I am currently too overstimulated to think properly, so we’ll have to talk about it in the morning.”
Jan wraps their arm around Kris and kisses his hair. “Alrighty. Let’s go home.”
They pack up their stuff quickly and let the rest of the crew know that they’re going home.
In the car, Kris connects his phone to the speaker and turns on some soft guitar music. “My knee started hurting again earlier”, Kris says softly.
“Oh, I’m sorry about that. Do you know why, or is it just fucked genetics?”, Jan questions.
Kris stretches out his leg and answers ”Just my entire body being slightly wonky again, I guess.”
“Do you need me to get your wheelchair? Or your crutches?” Jan suggests.
Kris shakes head and answers that he’ll be fine, but once they arrive home, he’s starting to doubt himself. He decides that he’ll be fine, even though his leg actually started hurting more, and now his hip was also protesting.
Lena jumps out of the car first, and Kris starts to get out of the car. Jan is still setting up their wheelchair, so Kris leans on the door, but as soon as he tries to stand up, the good leg, which he was balancing on, gives out. Kris yelps and tries to pull himself back up using the door, but fails and nearly falls forward onto the pavement.
Luckily Lena is nearby and manages to push him back into the car using her own body weight. He’s now sat on the edge of the car seat, and Jan calls out “Kris, what happened? Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I nearly fell over, but Lena pushed me back”, Kris responds, as Jan wheels around the car to help. “Will you manage on crutches or shall I get the wheelchair?” Kris decides it would be best to just get the wheelchair, so Jan quickly makes their way to the apartment and wheels Kris’ wheelchair back to the car.
By the time they get back to the apartment, Kris is about ready to head straight to bed, so that’s what they do. After quickly getting ready to bed, Kris transfers out of his wheelchair and into the bed. Kris curls up underneath the blankets and Jan wraps themselves around Kris, who is still thinking about Jan’s idea of moving in. “You can rest now, baby, we’ll talk later”, Jan whispers, and Kris sighs and forces himself to relax.

The next day, after having a slow morning, Kris and Jan sit down to properly talk about the ‘moving in’ question. “I love the idea of living together, but maybe we should find a new apartment as opposed to moving into this one”, Kris suggests. “This place is quite cramped and I honestly hate the fact that the bathroom is not accessible.”
Jan nods; “Yeah, having some more space sounds good. We should look for a place that has enough space. I don’t know how you feel, but I would like to have separate bedrooms for both of us.”
”Could we —god this feels weird to suggest— talk to the band about all moving in together?” Jan confesses the thought that had been floating around in their head for a little while now.
“Honestly, I would quite like that. We would need to get quite a big place”, Kris laughs.
“Yeah, and some proper sound proofing. I need my peace and quiet”, Jan laughs. “Though, with all of us, we could definitely buy a house.”
