Chapter Text

It was just another day for sonic & crew, another boring battle with egg-face, another flawless victory, and another town celebration. Recently, there had been a lot of those. This little town they were currently in had been suffering from a lot of recent robotnick attacks, he had discovered that this town had a large gold mine, and he was determined to get his hangs on it to make “ updates to his army of lethal badnicks”. But after today, he had found out that it was an abandoned site, there was no gold left to mine, so his efforts had been for nothing, only to get beaten by sonic afterwards. After every battle, they usually threw a little town gathering, to appreciate the hero’s efforts, but for todays battle, the townsfolk had been extra appreciative, they were confused as to why they were even being attacked, and once sonic & team had finally put a stop to egg man , they felt the need to throw a grand fest.

As the townspeople prepared for the night, sonic and the rest of his team helped to clean up after their battle. After everyone was done, they made their way to the center of the town, where they were greeted by many faces, old, young, eager, exited, and relieved. This was always sonics favorite part, getting to see what his actions caused, that he had been able to help these people, that he was able to save them, that always gave him the motivation to keep moving forward. As they made their way to the center of the crowd, the town cheered for the hero who had played a big impact on todays victory, not sonic, but Amy. Dear, sweet amy. If not for her, he didn’t know what would have happened today. She’s matured so much, and she’s been a big help in their adventures lately, and boy was he grateful. As the crowd praised her, he couldn’t help but admire her. She had a joyful expression on her face , as she was being tossed up and down in the air by a crowd of people, she was radiant underneath the beaming moonlight. He just stared in awe , he wasn’t jealous of her getting attention, she deserved it, she really did, he was just in awe of how admire able she was. I mean, not in any specific way right? She’s just amazing, and sweet, and caring, and fierce, and… that’s Normal , right?

After the celebration, they were showed to their cabins, where they would stay for the night. It was already late and there was no way all of them would be able to make it home, sonic, of course could, but he didn’t want to leave everyone else behind. So they decided they’d stay in the town until sunrise.

As the group and their guide made their way there, she explained,

“ Unfortunately a handful of our cabins were destroyed, so you’ll all have to room with one another. There is one family cabin, with two rooms, one with a bunk bed, and one with two full sized beds. “

As they walked inside, they took a look around the place that they’d stay the night at. While doing so, tails rushed to the room with the bunk beds, and exclaimed:

“ Awh yeah, I call dibs on the top bunk! It’s a lot funner to be able fly up there , so it only makes sense I get it”

“ Alright then, guess im taking the bottom bunk .” Knuckles said, following tails into the room.

“ Woah woah woah, who said your rooming with tails? “ sonic said, “ I’m his big bro so it only make sense that I room with him , right lil bro ?“ he continued, nudging tails in the shoulder.

“ Yeah, but i had been wanting to stay in the bunk room, before I go to sleep I usually hang from a tree branch and do a couple of sit ups, So I figured I could just to it here with the top bunk and sleep up there, but since tails already called it I’ll still do my sit ups, but I’ll just sleep on the bottom “ knuckles replied.

“ sorry sonic,” tails said “ I guess you’ll have to sleep with, - er I mean in the same room as Amy tonight”

Sonic gave a squinting glance at tails, and then turned to look at Amy.

“ I guess I don’t have choice , but, is that cool with you Ames?” He asked

Amy looked at sonic, quite shocked at first , but then snapped out of it and replied:

“ Yeah, uhm that sounds alright with me, but I get the bed next to the window alright!”

She then winked and stuck her tongue out ( picture the TikTok [funny face] emoji ), and took off towards the room, happily skipping.

“ alright well, goodnight guys, make sure to wake me up in the morning so we can head back okay?”

“ will do sonic! Goodnight” Tails said

“ Goodnight, and, I’m sure you can wake up on your own “ said knuckles

Sonic chuckled, (unlike knuckles who allegedly doesn’t) and made his way to his room, he couldn’t shake off a feeling that had been brewing inside him, almost like he was nervous, but I mean, what was there to be nervous of? I mean he was only going to sleep in the same room as Amy, doesn’t matter if they’ve never even had a sleepover or anything, it’s fine , it shouldn’t mean anything right? Yet , he couldn’t get that feeling to go away, what was up with him? He was making up a big deal over nothing after all, it’s not like they were sleeping in the same bed or anything after all.

That’s when he heard Amy let out a “AHHH” , followed by a loud thud.

Sonic rushed up the stairs to see what had made Amy scream, and to his surprise there had been a half-beaten badnick lying on top of one of the beds , it seemed to have been thrown In from the balcony window, which was wide open when they arrived, and due to that, the bed it lied atop was broken, dirty, and full of grease.

Shorty after sonic , tails and knuckles heard the commotion, and made their way to the upstairs room.

“ What’s a badnick doing in here??” Tails asked 

“ I’m not even sure, I came in here and the first thing I see is a badnick just, lying there on a bed! Sorry for the scream, I turned on the light and it just shocked me “ Amy replied

“Damn, talk about low budget service am I right?” Sonic said with a smirk

(Nobody laughed, and just stared in silence)

“Yeah yeah , I know , it’s not funny anymore even if I changed a word. anyways,” he continued “ I’ll just toss that thing outta here, no biggie” Sonic walked over to the badnick, picked it up, and ran out the balcony window. He then returned without it , and said “ there, problem solved!” Then, he ran around the rest of the room and house, making sure there wasn’t anything else they had missed.

“ Alright, well now that that’s settled, me n’ tails are gonna head back to our room, it’s getting late and if we want to leave in the morning, it’s best to get as much sleep as we can.” Said knuckles

“ agreed, goodnight again you guys!” Tails said, as he and knuckles left the room.

“Well, now what?” Amy asked “ We’ve only got one bed, and the other room is full”

“ oh that’s fine,” sonic replied “ I’ll just sleep on the couch, it’s not that big of a deal “

“Sonic…”

“Yeah?”

“There’s no couches, just cushion chairs, you didn’t see that when you checked the house?”

“No, I, uh, guess that slipped past me, I didn’t even notice…” “Well, what do we do now?” 

They stood in silence, thinking about what solution they could come up with.

“Shit, I didn’t think something like this would ever even happen, what am I supposed to say? “ sonic thought to himself “ oh well amy, guess I’m going to have to sleep with you? No, no, that sounds weird. But, I don’t really have another option, and I don’t want to leave them all here and take off on my own”

Meanwhile, Amy was having her own conversation in her head “ what did I ever do to deserve to be in a situation like this ?!?!? The only possible solution is that sonic were to sleep in the same bed as me, and I just know he’s not going to want to do that, even if it’s just on opposite ends, it’s still in the same bed, so he’ll probably flat out say no! Even if we did sleep in the same bed tonight, I really don’t expect him to think anything of it, or act like it’s anything other than the tricky situation we’re in , what if he sleeps all the way on the corner and falls off? What if he-“

“ I guess the only option is for us to share the bed, right? I’d say I can just sleep on the floor, but there’s only one clean blanket, and plus, I’m tired of always sleeping on the floor, or pressed against a tree, so It’d be nice to sleep in an actual bed for once I guess “ sonic said, while rubbing his neck , breaking the awkward silence between them, and interrupting Amy’s thoughts.

“Oh?” Amy said, honestly shocked that he was the one to say anything first, she especially didn’t expect him to say that.
“ Are you sure ? I mean, I honestly don’t mind, Not-uh, like I was looking forward to it or anything! No, i just- don’t mind, but , whatever’s fine with you , ya know…?” She covered her face out of embarrassment, she wasn’t prepared for that , and she didn’t know what to say

“ Yeah, uhm, it’s fine, no big deal , right?” Sonic said , with a nervous look on his face, avoiding eye contact, as he usually does when he’s nervous.

“ Yes! Not a big deal at all! Well, I’m going to go change into my pajamas, I’ll , uh come to bed later , I guess?” Amy replied, also nervously “Gosh, why did i say it like that?!”

“ Pajama’s? You brought pajamas?”

“Yes, matter of fact, i did bring pajamas. I figured that if we were to come all the way out here , we wouldn’t make it back in time, so I brought them with me just in case!”

“Heh, where did you even store them? I doubt your pockets could fit that.”

“I stored them in my hammer silly” she said, summoning her piko-piko hammer out of hammerspace ( get it?) “there’s a little empty component here to store stuff, that’s the only hollow part to the hammer, so I try to fill it with stuff so the weight evens out”

“Oh! That’s pretty neat acually”

“Yep!” Said Amy, taking her pajamas out, and walking away towards the bathroom

“Night’ Ames” sonic said, while yawning 

“Goodnight sonic”

Sonic took this opportunity to get straight to bed, hoping he could fall asleep before Amy came back Luckily for him, he did. He’s gotten so used to just falling asleep anywhere, that it’s made him able to fall asleep quickly as well.

Amy finished, and came out of the bathroom , heading towards the bed

“Damnit! He took the side closest to the window! Guess it’s fine though, I’m still next to the window after all “

She noticed he was fast asleep, she looked at him, sighed while smiling, made her self cozy on her side of the bed, and fell asleep next to the blue blur himself.

Chapter Text

Turns out, sonic isn’t a very still sleeper. He’s always used to being on the go, always moving, always doing something . So, naturally, it makes sense that he’s always moving around in his sleep as well. He’s also a deep sleeper, that’s one of his only “weak points”, the very few times eggman has planned a night attack, he’s either awake to fight, or he was woken up by being hit. It hardly happens though, both him and eggman are usually asleep at the same times.(the so called genius needs ALL the beauty sleep he can get)

See ,however, Amy didn’t know this, how could she? They had never even had a sleepover, and she’d never even really observed him in his sleep. But oh boy, would she find that out real quick.

It had been about 2 hours after they each fell asleep, and sonic was struggling to find a good sleeping position, he was tossing and turning. All of a sudden out of nowhere, Amy had tugged at the blanket, taking it for herself.( she hasn’t shared a blanket with anyone, so she isn’t aware that’s something she would have done/do) Sonic got cold, which only let to more moving around, it looked like he was holding onto himself, to try and stay as warm as possible. He then reached out for the blanket, and when he found it, he scooted over to the other side of the bed, where he laid next to Amy. He then grabbed the blanket, and put it over him, he was still cold, so he tried to get in a comfier position, only to find his hand on Amy’s shoulder, not aware that this was Amy, he turned her over,and wrapped his arm around her, then, wrapping both his arms now around her. Amy, woken up by the sudden movement, had no idea what was happening.” Hm..?” She said, only to open her eyes and be greeted with sonics chest. “ Wait, why am i laying next to sonic?!?” She thought to herself “ How did this even happen?!? Why is sonic hugging me? Does he know he’s doing this? “ Thousands of thoughts filled her head, and it got worse when her blue hero pulled her in closer, adjusting his grip on her waist.

This only fled her mind with more thoughts, she began thinking again,

“ Great, just when I start backing off on being physically affectionate, he goes and does this? What’s a girl supposed to think in a moment such as this one? I can’t help but blush and want to hug him back, but what if he wakes up? No no, this is his actions, and, If i really think about it, this is something I really don’t mind feeling, laying down next to him, him hugging me whilst i lay next to him, gosh, i used to think about scenarios like this all the time, and now it’s actually happening!”

She took a moment to look up, and see his handsome resting face, right in front of hers. She immediately got flustered at the sight, and put her head back down, and sighed.

“ Who am I joking, this is what I’ve always dreamed of since I first met him, and since this is happening, I suppose I should just enjoy the moment instead of worrying”

She then moved her arms out from the weird position they were in, she laid her right arm against the mattress, and wrapped the other around her emerald eyed hero. She took another glance at him, and fell back asleep.

Chapter Text

The following morning, knuckles was up at the crack of dawn. He decided to go outside and so some exercise, to prepare for their way back home. He returned an hour later, and he woke up his fellow two-tailed roommate.

“ Hey, tails, wake up. We’ve gotta get going, and we still have to wake sonic and Amy up.”

Tails slowly opened his eyes, still drowsy, and blinking.

“ what time is it?” He asked knuckles

“About..7am” knuckles replied

Tails sighed and yawned, stretched his arms out, and flew down to the floor, still rubbing his eyes.

“ I’m going to go splash my face with some water, why don’t you go wake sonic up, and I’ll meet you guys upstairs?” Tails said, making his way out the room

“Sounds good to me” knuckles answered

As tails made his way to the downstairs bathroom, knuckles made his way up the stairs.

Sonic and Amy were still fast asleep, ( I guess sonic really did need knuckles to wake him up) so when knuckles opened the room door, he was met with quite the surprise.

“Well, what do we got here?” He asked himself, crossing his legs and leaning on the wall.

Sonic and Amy were surprisingly still in the same position as last night, sonic seemed to find a comfortable enough position to stop moving around.

Tails made his way up the stairs, meeting knuckles at the door.

“Why’re you just standing there at the door” he asked knuckles “ I though you were supposed to be waking up soni-“ he couldn’t finish his sentence as he stared at sonic Amy Amy lying down together, he was very surprised at this, he thought sonic would sleep somewhere else, he never thought he would have settled to share a bed with Amy, let alone be sleeping with her that close . He just stood there in silence, and then whispered to knuckles,

“See! I told you they were secretly dating!

knuckles replied,

 “ yeah man, I was shocked too, but Im not sure if that’s completely the case, we’ll have to find out right now I suppose”

“What do you mean by that?” Tails asked

“This isn’t going to stop me from waking him up, I wasn’t even going to, but, it might be fun to wake him up when he’s fast asleep like this ” knuckles answered.

He walked over to where Amy and sonic laid, and grabbed a piece of the broken bed frame next to them, and made his way to sonics side of the bed. He then proceeded to WHACK sonic in the back of the head.

This, of course, had made sonic wake up immediately.

“Ah, shit what the fuck?” He loudly exclaimed, as he took an arm off of Amy’s waist, and rubbed his head with it. He then turned around to look at knuckles, and said,

“Dude, what the hell? I know I told you to wake me up, but was that really necessary?”

“Huh?” Amy quietly said, she took her arm off him, and sat up a little, still laying down, but putting her weight on her arms ( imagine laying down side ways, but your torso area upwards), rubbing her eyes and looking around, she had woken up to sonic scream, she was quite shocked and confused as to why he was yelling

“Hey, don’t look at me,” knuckle said, “I tried waking your dumbass up multiple times, but you didn’t hear me”(liar) He then continued,

“ I guess you were too comfortable there, weren’t cha’huh?” Knuckles asked, with a sly smirk plastered across his face

“Huh?” Sonic asked, he then turned back around only to see Amy looking right at him, and to see that he had his other arm around her, and he realized that they were laying together, closely, like, extremely close. He then also remembered that he had to take his arm off her to rub his head, and he was probably hugging her in his sleep. (Poor guy doesn’t know a thing about last night)

“Oh my chaos!” He said, getting up and completely sitting up on the bed.

“Are you alright?” Amy asked ,” I woke up and heard you scream, what happened?”

“ Knuckles, here,” he turned around too look at knuckles, who had a seemingly high devious smirk on his face, and turned back around at Amy, and continued, “ decided it was a great idea here to wake me up by hitting me on the head with a wooden board.”

“Oh knuckles,” Amy said, “ Out of everything, that was your first option?”

“ I guess so,” he answered, “ well, now that my work here is done, I’ll be heading out, me n’ tails will go get us all some breakfast, then we can start our way home.”

He walked towards the door, and said,

“C’mon tails, let’s ,leave them be” before he completely walked out the door, he shot sonic a squinted smirk face, and left the room.

“Oh, uh, right!” Tails said, and followed knuckles out of the room.

Sonic and Amy were left in awkward silence, fortunately, sonic broke it by saying,

“Well uhm, I guess we should get ready, wanna continue this conversation when we’re home?”

“Yes, let’s do that, that sounds like a great idea.” Amy said, getting off the bed, and getting her clothes out from her hammer.

They each got ready while they waited for knuckles and tails to return. Amy got dressed, and styled her quills, and sonic went out for a quick run.

Knuckles and tails returned, and they all sat down to eat together. It seemed like knuckles and tails were staring at sonic the whole time, he caught onto this, and looked up at them and said with a mouthful ,

“…what?”

Neither of them said anything, just exchanged glances, and continued eating.

They finished their meal, and made their way out the front door, starting their way back home.

Chapter Text

It didn’t take them long to get home, only about 2 and a half hours, green hill zone wasn’t far from this one. It also helped that sonic knew the trail they were following, so they didn’t get lost, although, he did trail off for about half of the time, he just couldn’t stand keeping up at their pace for so long! 
When they finally arrived home, they were greeted by Vector, cream, & cheese, who were playing along in the nearby flower field.

”Mister sonic!” Cream said, getting up from the field, and rushing towards them

“How was your guy’s trip to the new zone ?” She asked, while the others caught up to them.

“Great!” Sonic said, crouching down to creams level, and resting his hands on his knees, “Once again, of course, we stopped egghead from his plans, and , they townspeople actually threw us a big party!”

“But, this time,” he said, standing completely up, and turning towards Amy, “ Our strong & beloved Amy really stepped in, and kicked butt!” He said with a wink and a smile

” If not for her, I wouldn’t have been able to get the townsfolk away , and stop eggman, all at once , so she really stepped in, and wouldn’t you know it, the townsfolk loved her! They actually threw the party in honor of her, and our victory that night.” He then shot a big smile at amy & the group.

Amy immediately blushed what she had just heard.

She thought to herself, with a slightly flustered expression on her face, “Beloved? Gosh, I know he didn’t mean it like how I think, but he could have use any other word. I know I helped, but it honestly wasn’t much, I just did what I could!”

She laughed a little, before saying, “ Thanks sonic, I appreciate the recognition”

Sonic also chuckled a little, and replied, “ No problem Ames, anytime”

They stood in silence for a little, until knuckles interrupted,

“Alight, break it up you too, I can feel the tension in the air.”

“Hm?” Sonic asked “ what do yo-“

“ Anyways, ” He continued, while also interrupting sonic. “Let’s get going, we’ve been traveling for hours, and I’m kind of hungry now, we didn’t have much of a breakfast, and hiking sure does make ya’ hungry.”

“Oh!” Cream said “ That reminds me, mother said that, when you guys get back, you should come over for lunch! She’s at home with Miss Rouge preparing something , and Mister Vector took me out here to gather flowers, and wait for you guys to return!”

“Rouge is there?” Knuckles asked, that seemed to pique his interest.

“Yes,” cream replied, while holding back a giggle,” She stopped by to ask if you all had returned, and she ended up staying to wait!”

“Well, I guess it would be rude to turn down such a nice offer.” Knuckles replied, while looking around, hesitating to make eye contact with anyone

“That sounds great!” Tails replied, “ like knuckles said earlier, we should stop by somewhere to get lunch, so that would work out!”

“Sounds good to me!” Sonic said,  with a wink and a thumbs up, he then turned to Amy, and asked, “ What about you Ames? You alright with heading to Vanilla’s?”

“Yeah, that’s fine with me!” Amy replied, putting her thoughts to the side, and heading towards cream, “ Let’s go cream, I’m sure your mom’s waiting for us!”

And with that, they all headed towards Vanillas home. Cream, Amy, And Vector were the ones up ahead of everyone else, and Tails, Sonic, & Knuckles were trailing behind them. Sonic looked to his right, where he noticed knuckles looking at him with that damn , devious smirk again.

“Seriously man, what ?” He asked

Knuckles just laughed, and said “ You know what”

With a confused expression on his face, sonic sighed, and continued his way to Vanilla’s home.

Chapter Text

The group had finally made their way to vanilla‘s house, as they arrived ,cream opened the door for them all, and vanilla greeted them while they entered.

“Oh, well hello everyone!” Vanilla said, with a smile on her face, as she walked from the kitchen to the living room, “How was your trip to the new zone? I’m assuming you all must be hungry , come , have a seat no worries“

“Thanks Vanilla,” Sonic said, as he made his way to the left side of the dining room table. “ All was well,” He continued, as he sat down, “we visited the town, stopped eggmans plans, had a party thrown, et cetera, et cetera.”

As the rest of the group made their way to the table, cream added,

“The town threw a big party for them, and mister sonic said that they threw it mainly for miss Amy, who did the most in that battle, and that everyone there also loved her as much as we do!”

“Aw, thanks cream,” Amy said, while slightly blushing at what cream had brought up. She patted cream on the head, and pulled in a chair from the right side of the table, sitting herself next to cream.

“That sounds wonderful dear,” Vanilla exclaimed, “ Who wouldn’t love a strong, sweet girl such as our Amy?”

Amy let out a little giggle, and stated, “Thanks Vanilla, In my opinion , I honestly didn’t do much though, just helped out with what I could, but,  I am grateful for the townsfolks gratitude.”

As everyone sat them selves at the table, rouge and Vanilla returned to the kitchen to finish preparing the meal they had made.

“Foods almost ready darlings, It’ll be out in just a minute.” Said Vanilla

“Oh, Let me help you with that!” Vector exclaimed, getting up from the table and rushing over to the kitchen.

“Awh, thank you honey.” Vanilla said, as she walked over to the oven, and gave Vector a little peck on the check on her way. (Does vector really even have cheeks?)

“Oh the things I would do to have what they have.” Amy said to herself, as she observed the two.

“There , there hun,” rouge said, flying over Amy’s side , while setting a cup & silverware set down for her. “You’ll have that one day, and I think we all know with who.”

Rouge gave Amy a sly smirk, and continued to set the table. Amy just sighed, and fiddled with her fork.

“ If only,” she thought to herself. “ I just hope it happens soon enough.”

Vanilla and Vector finished in the kitchen, and brought every thing to the table,

“All right people, Dig in!” Vector said, as he sat himself next to knuckles.

Vanilla made her way to the table, and sat down in front to cream, then rouge sat down next to vanilla.

( Btw, The table they are sitting on is a long table, and the middle section is where they have the food, so the “left and right “ sides of the table are a little separated. Think of about 2 chair spaces in between “sides”? On the top side, the order is: Sonic, tails, empty space, then, Amy, and cream. Bottom side is: vector, knuckles, empty space, rouge, and vanilla.)

Everyone began to eat their meal, and engage in small talk with one another.

“So, how have things been with you and vanilla?” Knuckles asked Vector, “Last I hear was that you two had just came back from vacation ?”

“Things have been great! I honestly couldn’t ask for more, she’s such a great person, still can’t believe we’re dating, I know it’s been a year, but it’s still crazy shocking to me!”

“That’s good to hear, good for you Vector.” Knuckles replied.

“Yeah man, that sounds great, happy for you two.” Sonic said, then taking a sip of water.

“So,” Knuckles continued, “ What’s up with you n’ Amy?”

Sonic nearly choked on his water from hearing that.

“Listen dude, nothings happening, I don’t know why your still persistent on that.” He replied

“Well, from what we saw this morning, I’m not so sure about that” Tails said, giving sonic a raised eyebrow ( Mf ain’t even got eyebrows 🥀 )

Sonic twitched his right eye, and shot his younger brother a cold , death stare.

“ Anyways…” He said, acting like nothing, “The real question is, what’s up with you and rouge? You two have been ‘ hanging around’ a lot lately, what’s up with that?”

“Uhm,” knuckles said, anxious all of a sudden. “I’m not even sure my self, I think it’s clear that we both have feelings, but, we aren’t direct about it, for now. And, she’s the one who’s always stopping by to steal the master emerald! Although, nowadays, she usually just talks with me…”

(Poor Knux, blind as always, never picking up on it when it’s OBVIOUS that rouge is flirting 😔 )

Sonic, Vector , & tails looked at one another , chuckled, and teased knuckles a little bit. Boy, was glad that he was able to divert and dodge that conversation. He wasn’t even sure what to say himself, he don’t know what that.. situation was, and, he hadn’t even talked with Amy about it.

While the boys were having their conversation, the girls were having one of their own.

Vanilla was talking about how much she enjoys  being with vector, and that he’s been such a big help in their new home they had bought, especially since the chaotix had been getting lots of business lately.

“That’s nice to hear Vanilla, I’m glad your happy with him.” Said Amy.

“Thank you dear, I am very happy with him, he’s such a gentleman, and cream loves him so much, I couldn’t even ask for more.”

“Yes, Mister Vector is very nice! And he’s always making mother smile, he’s a very nice man,” Cream said, looking at her mother with a smile. “ May I be excused for a bit though mother? I think I need to use the restroom.”

“Of course dear, yes you may.” Vanilla responded.

As cream left for the restroom, rouge turned her head towards Amy, and asked,

“ Speaking of things, how are you and blue ? I remember what you said earlier, but I also remember what cream said, she told me about what happened over there, but ,I wanna hear it from you.”

Amy sighed, and began to explain what had happened yesterday, and her thoughts on the, situation.

“ Am I overreacting?” She asked rouge & vanilla.

“Not at all, I completely understand your thoughts in that situation, they’re completely valid, your not overreacting one bit.” Vanilla said, reaching across the table, smiling, and grabbing Amy’s hand for assurance.

“Exactly what she said, I would have thought something similar if i was in a situation like that, and besides, can you blame a girl for having those thoughts when the guy who did that, she’s got a massive crush on?” Rouge said, with a shrug & a smile.

“Yeah,I suppose you two are right, thanks for reassuring me.” Amy said, she was relieved that they understood her.

“Anytime dear, just let us know, we’ll always be here for advice whenever you need it.” Vanilla said, giving Amy a sweet, caring expression.

“I’m back!” Cream said, “ Did I miss anything?”

“Not really dear, don’t worry about it.” Rouge said.

As they all finished their meal, and gathered by the door, they exchanged goodbyes, and thanked Vector & Vanilla for hosting lunch.

“Thanks again Vanilla! It was very delicious, as always, your cooking is always great!” Said tails

“Yeah, props to the chef.” Added knuckles

The rest bid their thanks to the couple, ( and cream/cheese) and made their way out the door.

The group then said their goodbyes, and made their ways home.

It had been two days since their arrival back, and Sonic & Amy were still being avoidant about what had happened a couple nights ago, neither of them had the courage to bring it up.

While the two were debating when & if they should talk, eggman was busy plotting his next sceme.

See, the badnick that was in the cabin was heavily damaged, and could no longer move. But, that didn’t stop it from operating. It still had it’s “consciousness”, and could still see & hear. Because it was thrown into the room with such force, it broke the second bed in the room, and lost a part of its face. When sonic took the badnick out, he didn’t realize that, and the broken off part remained in the room, slightly hidden underneath a wooden beam & the bed sheets. Luckily for egg man, while he was watching over his badnick monitors, he noticed that one of the badnicks eyes, ( the camera part where he could see through the badnicks perspective) was still in the room, & operating. He saw what had happened that night, and decided to use that information to his advantage, it would be perfect for his next sceme.

“Just do it sonic!” said tails, “ You said it yourself, you know you didn’t mean it, so go apologize!”

“ I know tails! I just, don’t know how to bring it up.” Sonic sighed, hunched over the couch, and placed his hands on his knees in frustration. “It was already awkward enough in the moment, what am I even supposed to say?

“ It’s really not that hard, just explain to her that your sorry if you made her uncomfortable, and you didn’t mean to do it!”

Sonic let out a sigh, “Okay, your right it shouldn’t be that hard as long as I’m direct about it, all I have to do is tell her, and then immediately go.”

“No!” Tails exclaimed, “ Sonic, you know you gotta stop doing that, right? You always run away from Amy, even when she’s not really doing anything, did you ever think about how that makes her feel?”

“I-“  Sonic stopped himself before continuing, he’d never really taken that into account before, he’d always just seen Amy’s acts of affection annoying, but, the less she started doing it, the more he found himself missing it. Now, when she does try, it’s more of a tender, sweet, and caring kind of affection, not just trying to sneak a kiss, jumping onto him, constantly smothering, now, it almost seemed as if she’d stopped chasing, and tried going aside him for a change . She , changed.

“I didn’t think of it like that before, guess you’re tails, thanks.” He finished saying, as he got off the couch and made his way to the front door, “ You still sure you don’t want to do it for me?”

Tails shot him an unamused expression, without even saying a word his answer was clear.

“Right, gotch’a.” Sonic said, as he reached for the door handle, and made his way out towards Amy’s house.

He arrived at her place quickly, and stood at the door for a while, hesitant on knocking, and mentally preparing himself for what he was going to say.

“You just going to stand there all afternoon?” Amy asked, approaching her from door from outside.

“Amy!” Sonic said, turning around at the sound of her. “I thought you were inside?”

“No, i just went out with rouge to go shopping, what brings you here though?” Amy responded, setting down a bag, and getting her keys to unlock the front door.

“I, uh, I came to finish talking about what happened a couple days ago, since, you know, we never really talked about it.” He didn’t even think before saying anything, he was too nervous to, so he just said whatever came to mind, and he was sure straightforward with the point.

Just as Amy was about to put her key in & turn it, she stopped, and turned to look at him. “Oh, yeah, I guess we didn’t finish, or, we’ll, even start that conversation.” She turned back towards the door, turned the key, and opened it, “ Why don’t you come in? You look like you’ve been standing there a while.”

“ Yeah, sure, thanks Ames.” Sonic replied, following Amy through the door.

While Amy hung her keys up on the key hook, and made her way up the stairs to her room, sonic sat on her couch, holding his fingers together to keep himself together. Amy returned empty handed, and took a seat in front of him.

“ About that night-“ they both said.

“Oh, sorry, my bad, you can go ahead first!” Said Amy, holding her hands up in an apologizing manner.

“No, no, it’s okay really, you go ahead first.” Sonic replied, doing the same.

“Okay then, well, uhm, as I was saying. That night in that cabin, I think you were too deep in your sleep to notice what you were doing. I was on the complete opposite side of the bed before you scooted over, and I didn’t want to bother you or interrupt your sleep, you looked comfortable,so, I didn’t say anything, and let you be.”

The thing is, sonic was comfortable, that was probably the best sleep he’d gotten in a long time, the warm of the bed, the ability to hug something, or someone, did feel good.

“ That’s true, I was fast asleep, most times when im snoozin’, I tend to loose awareness I suppose. The only thing I recall was being cold, so I believe that’s how I got to the other side of the bed, probably looking for a blanket or something.” He replied, looking a bit embarrassed.

“Come to think of it, you’re probably right. When you came over to my side of the bed, the first thing you did was reach for the blanket, that’s what had started to wake me up.”

“That’s most likely what happened then.” Sonic replied.

There was an awkward silence, neither of them were brave enough to bring up what was obvious they were avoiding.

Sonic finally broke the awkwardness, and said:

“ Look, about what I did, I didn’t mean it, and I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.” He looked up at her with a nervous and sorrowful face, hoping she’d understand.

“ Not at all, actually.” Amy said, blushing, looking to the side and covering her muzzle. “I honestly didn’t mind, as long as you looked comfortable, I went along, and it really wasn’t that bad, nothing even happened.” She looked back up to face him, and asked, “ What about you, were you uncomfortable?”

Sonic didn’t know what to reply, not that he didn’t know what to say as in putting words together, he just didn’t know how he felt. Amy was right, nothing had happened but a simple cuddle, and it wasn’t a bad scenario either. He didn’t know if he was feeling flustered, or confused.

“I’m, not even sure to be honest.” He replied, “ I’m not saying I wasn’t, but I just don’t know how I feel about it, but, I definitely wasn’t uncomfortable, I know that at least. That was some of the best sleep I’d ever gotten.”

Amy smiled and sighed, “ That’s good to hear, and it’s understandable, no worries, I just wanted to know how you felt on your behalf.”

The room, yet again, remained silent for a moment, until something broke it, but, it wasn’t either of them, it was coming from outside.

Chapter Text

The two hedgehogs rushed outside, seeing where the sudden noise had been coming from. In the far distance was a smoke cloud in the air, and lasers firing out in all directions.

“It must be eggman!” Amy said, running off towards the area.

Sonic continued after her, keeping his speed matched with hers.  “It’s gotta be, I’m just surprised that he’d really pull off another attack so quickly, he usually takes about a week to get badnicks constructed again.”

“I know!” Amy responded. “ He probably had a backup plan, or was already planning this. Whatever it is, we’ll stop him.”

“ If we hurry up that is.” Sonic said “ We’ve gotta get there as fast as we can!”

He then put a hand on Amy’s shoulder, and scooped up her legs.

“I’ll get us there in a flash, hold on tight!”

Amy smiled & laughed, and wrapped her arms around his shoulders for balanced.

He ran towards the area surrounded by smoke, leaving a blue blur behind him.

When they arrived, he set Amy down, and they checked the area for any one who might be there.

“There’s no one over here!” Amy shouted to Sonic.

“No one over there either.” Sonic replied, running over from the other side of the area.

“Eggman’s nowhere to be seen, there’s no signs of badnicks, or anything to attack.” Amy said, letting her hammer down, and stretching her arms & fingers.

“Yeah, seems weird to me. Unless something exploded, and somehow completely destroyed everything with it, I don’t know what happened here.”

The two of them looked around again, Amy was right, there was completely nothing in sight. Almost as if, it were some sort of distraction.

Then, a gigantic mechanic tentacle busted out  of the ground. It was too sudden, they didn’t have time to react. It then clasped Amy within its claws, holding her up too high for sonic to reach. Amy reached for her hammer, but failed, she was too high up in the air, but even if she did have it, the grip the claw had on her was too tight, she couldn’t even move her arms that well.

“Amy!” Sonic shouted, shock in his eyes, and worry on his face.

Then, a huge machine also emerged from the ground, it was attached to the tentacle holding Amy. It fully got onto surface level and shook the dirt off.

“Sonic!” Amy shouted, with pain In her voice, squirming around, trying to free herself.

“Well well well, what do we have here?” Eggman said from the cockpit of the robot.

“How’s it feel walking right into my trap hm? You were to blind to notice that it was a mine that had exploded, and that there many more hidden away.”

As he said that, dozens of red dots flashed from underground, ticking, and flashing more rapidly as time passed.

Sonic looked around at the mines surrounding him, he didn’t know what to do, if he moved, he’d set off a mine, and if he jumped up towards the robot, eggman would set a mine off instead of him, potentially harming Amy & himself, he was stuck, he didn’t know what to do .

“Oh what’s wrong? Afraid of harming your little girlfriend?”

“She’s not my girlfriend!” Sonic said, scowling, and lightly blushing.

“Really?” Eggman asked. “Don’t think I don’t know about you two, I saw you two together that night when you foiled my plans, quite interesting indeed.”

“Huh?!” Amy & sonic both exclaimed.

“What do you mean?” Sonic asked, now blushing even harder, and getting more irritated.

“Just know that I know something’s going on with you two, don’t worry about how I know, why would I tell you, I’m not stupid like you think I am.” Eggman answered.

Sonic was shocked, how could he know what happened? Was he secretly stalking them? What ever happened wasn’t important right now, he needed to get Amy away from him before she got hurt.

“Let her go.” Sonic said clenching his fist, and glaring daggers at egg man.

“Oh no, I don’t think I’ll be doing that.” Eggman said, pressing a button that opened the stomach part of the robot, and retracted the claw in, bringing Amy along with it.

“SONIC!” Amy screamed, she reached a hang out to him, trying to pry her way out with the other, all before she was shoved into the robot. She banged on it from the inside, hoping to do some but if damage, but failed.

“Amy!” Sonic yelled, about to run over to her, when the mines surrounding him exploded, making him unable to move in the moment, and making the air filled with dirt. As the air cleared, and sonic made his way over, she was nowhere to be seen, the robot was gone, and so was Amy.

Chapter Text

“No, no, Amy…” Sonic said, you could hear the fear and panic In his voice. He ran across the area, he checked everywhere, the trees, the sky, the rest of the woods, & the village, yet, she was nowhere to be seen.

“ How could this happen ?” Sonic thought, he rubbed his fingers through his quills, and tapped his foot at a high pace, “ Where could he have gone, he can’t be far, yet I’ve checked everywhere. ” He become more & more anxious as every second went by. He tried to think of every possible outcome, until he found one. “ Underground .” He thought. “ If the robot came from under there, he must have gone back that way. ”

Sonic rushed back towards where it happened, the scene was still messy, bits of dirt and grass everywhere, still a little bit of smoke, & mine parts everywhere. The odd thing is, there were no holes in the ground, there was no where for egg man to return to, or come out of. It was confusing, surely when the thing emerged from the ground, it would leave a hole, right? And if it came from underground, that could only mean, the ground was hollow .

Sonic rushed everywhere, attempting to check the ground for a hollow spot, but failed, he didn’t know what he was doing, so it would be hard, especially since every bit of the floor he tapped on sounded all the same.

“ Damnit !” He thought. “ What am I even doing? I don’t even know what I’m supposed to be looking for, and even if I did, how could I even get under there? ” That’s when an idea formed in his head, he didn’t know anything about this, but he sure did know a guy who does.

Sonic rushed over to tails’s workshop, not even bothering to knock, he immediately opened the door and rushed in.

“Tails!” Sonic said, looking around the room for his younger brother.

Tails was at his desk, and jumped at the sudden noise and commotion.

“Woah sonic! You scared me there for a second!”  He turned around to look at sonic, and then immediately noticed the panicked expression on his face. “what happened..?”

“Long story short, gosh, I hate to say that at a time like this, but there’s no time to waste. Robotnick kidnapped Amy, and I need you to take me to angel island, I’ll try to explain on the way, but we need to go, as soon as possible.”

“WHAT?!?” Tails exclaimed, getting up from his chair in shock. “alright, understood, let’s go.”

Without hesitation, tails started up the tornado, the two of them then boarded the plane, and set track for angel island. Sonic told tails everything on the way, and just as he finished explaining why they were going to angel island, they arrived.

Chapter Text

The tornado landed on the levitating grounds of angels island, and the two brothers rushed off to look for a certain echidna.

They weren’t far from the master emeralds shrine, so they both arrived quickly.

“Knux!” Sonic yelled, rushing to get this attention.

Knuckles sat atop the stairs of the shrine, “Sonic?” Knuckles asked himself. “What brings you here?”

“Im gonna get straight to the point, Amy’s been kidnapped by eggman, and I need you to help me look for her, you’re the only person that I know can help me with this.”

Knuckles stared at sonic in disbelief. “Amy’s been, kidnapped…?” He asked, raising himself up from the stairs. “How the hell did that happened, and how did you let that happened?” His voice began to sound more stern, he doesn’t play about Amy, the two of them are like siblings, and he’s in disbelief that Amy allowed herself to get taken, and that sonic didn’t do anything about it.

“I know, I’m sorry! I tried, but the ground literally exploded, and I tried to help her, eggman had her confiscated in some claw, her arms were tied! As soon as I tried to do something he exploded everything, then he just vanished!” Sonic wasn’t necessary yelling, but his voice was raided, he was obviously upset about the situation, and knuckles was right after all, how could he even allow her to be taken in the first place?

“What’s important right now is getting her back, whether you messed up or not. I can’t leave right this moment, but I’ll call someone to watch the emerald while I go help you.”

Knuckles them stepped aside, made an urgent phone call, and then rushed back to the two of them.

“All right, lets go.”

Team sonic made their way back to green hills,  and sonic explained the situation to knuckles more in-depth. As the plane arrived onto solid ground, the three set off towards the area Amy had been taken from.

“See Knux, the ground is all messed up, its too much for me to spin dash through, and I don’t know if there’s any more bombs that didn’t get set off.”

“So what do you want me to do?” Knuckles asked, pounding his fist together.

“I need you to check for a hollow spot, and if you can, where leftover bombs might be located, I don’t want them to explode snd harm this area again, and you never know if a civilian might be nearby.”

“Got ya’” knuckles said, and he set off to work.

While knuckles started digging, sonic & tails went to the nearby towns, and asked them not to go to that area until they had safely taken out all the bombs that might still be there, they also checked the rest of the woods, just to make sure they didn’t miss anything or anyone.

When they got back, they noticed a huge pile of bombs, that seemed like they hadn’t been activated yet.

“That many?!” Sonic asked, holding his head in shock.

“Yeah,” knuckles replied. “That’s all of them, I started to look for the hollow spot, and sure enough, I found it.”

Sonic and tails rushed over to where knuckles was, and surrounded him as they looked at the ground he was pointing to.

“This is the only hollow spot here, I didn’t want to dig it up until the two of you came, but look at this.” Knuckles then removed prices if grass from the ground, where it was revealed that there was a straight line in the floor, and when knuckles ripped off the rest of the grass. Two doors were revealed.

“I knew it.”  Sonic said. “I figured he used something like this to escape, so he must be down there!”

Knuckles then pried the doors open, forcing them to open automatically.

“Well, time to find out.” Knuckles said, as the two of them hopped down into the mysterious hole, and tails carried them so they’d make a safe landing all the way down.

When the three made it down safely, tails turned on a flashlight he had brought with him, and made his way around to find a power switch, where he eventually did find one.

“Wow, all this time, I never knew this was down here.” Tails said. “I wonder how long this has been down here…”

“That’s not our problem right now.” Sonic said, making his way down the hall way, and gesturing the others to follow. “We just need to find Amy, and them you can do all the researching you want.”

“Yeah,” tails replied. “ You’re right, let’s focus on that.”

As the three of them made their way down the hallway, which seemed to be going on forever. Sonic of course, could easily reach the end in the blink if an eye, but he had to slow down to make sure he didn’t outpace the others, he couldn’t leave them behind, know knew what surprises this place had in store?

They eventually made their way to the ending of the hall, the lighting started to dim, lights flickering, and the ground was covered in dirt.

When they finally reached the end, it was pitch black, so tails turned on his flash light, and to his horror, there were more bombs, bigger bombs. These had eggman logos all over, these weren’t land mines, but actual bombs.

“Shit!” Sonic said, taking a step back, and as soon as he did, the ticking began.

“Move aside, I’ve got this!“ knuckles said, moving sonic out the way, preparing a punch, and rushing over.

“Knuckles!” Sonic said, reaching a hand out.

Knuckles than hit the Bombs with a hard punch, knocking them back into the open wall behind them. Knuckles than punched pieces of the wall out, and covered the exposed wall so that the bombs would be trapped there, and would explode inside that “room”.

The ticking stopped, and the bombs went off, malign the pieces of wall knuckles had put begin to crumble off.

“There, taken care of.” He said, dusting off his hands.

They took off the remaining pieces of wall, and discovered a single tube, much like the ones used at chemical plant zone.

“Well, this is it.” Tails said. “I wonder where this leads? Wherever it does, I can assume egg man leg out if this, and set the bombs because he knew we’d follow him.”

“Yeah, sounds about right.” Sonic said.

This was it. There was no going back. Without hesitation, he jumped into the tube, he was going to get his Amy back, he had to.
